This Park is classified in the category of National forest.
Beautiful forest. The Nantahala Gorge By-pass is a beautiful scenic drive as long as you can handle tight winding curves.
Went up whiteside Mountain, great little 2 mile loop! One section of the trail is more strenuous than the other, so it's a reasonable workout and easy hike for all ages. Pretty great views of the rest of the mountains as well, and if climbing is your thing, I've heard good things.
One of the most beautiful spots on earth!
The house is in a good shape considering how long ago it was built. The ranger station is on the way up the observation.
Great view on train great history information
Good place for different kinds of fun for tourist's, lots to do...
Weather can really be an issue especially for through traffic but absolutely beautiful and wonderful place for the outdoorsy types!
So beautiful. We have visited more than once would go again.
It is a great place to hike and get away from the busy every day life
Beautiful beautiful place to visit!
Beautiful! So green and vibrant in the summer and the colors in the fall are spectacular!
Excellent trails and bluffs and funguses and launches and stuff.
This is an incredible national forest that's very well isolated within the Appalachian range. Wayah Bald has gorgeous views and is an excellent spot to access the A.T. for someone who is looking to day hike.
Beautiful place to go and hike. A lot of flora and fauna to be seen. Really relaxing environment. Nice place to spend the day with family and/or friends. Also a nice place to connect with nature, listen to the peaceful sounds, and meditate. When we went there was no one else there, making it a very peaceful day.
Just love this place. Anyone who can needs to visit here!
Great scenic route to drive along, with some great places to get the pup tired along the way!
Stop reading this and just go... it doesnt matter where there you go but just go!!!! Grt away from this concrete jungle and reset yourself.
Beautiful place if it wasn't such a tourist attraction.
A beautiful area with mountain hikes, waterfalls, and wild flowers. Winding roads are fun to drive on once you get used to them. The sites within the National Forrest are well signed and we'll cared for. Lots to explore.
Most of the time when I'm here I'm passing through going to Murphy. If your driving here enjoy as all you can BUT be courteous of the mile long line of traffic you have created by going 16 mph in zones posted 35 and 45mph and pull off to let them by there are dozens of areas to stop and sight see so utilize them and don't use the road as your personal sight seeing trail. Thanks ahead of time yall
Love nantahala national forest, well kept, lots of views and hikes, I highly recommend it.
Absolutely beautiful! Love just driving through and stopping at the overlook views. Relaxing way to spend a day.
Tucked away in a busy place.. If you can, take all trails less traveled to get away from the crowd..
Surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery! Perfect for nature nuts and photographers. Thumbs up, I'll visit again.
I visited laurel falls trail with my family, trail is paved and inclination goes on increasing as you move along the path, but at the end of the trail view of the laurel falls was overwhelming and beautiful... I can say it is Moderate to difficult for aged persons with week knees.. Also there are no restrooms along the trail.. You need to go to visitor center 3 miles down the road for restrooms..
A truly epic experience. I suggest the rest stop between 4420 and 4500ft elevation. There is a 5 star real bathroom there. This is one of the most fantastic rides in America.
Beautiful scenery, nature at it's finest. Ignore the knuckleheads on their bikes revving up hard unnecessarily (I ride too and it ticks me off when I see/hear riders do that). Enjoy nature and take it slowly, bc there is wildlife on the side of the road doing their own thing!
This place is beautiful. If you haven't been, you should make plans to go and see God's beauty here.
Less than 5 stars would be a shame. It's beautiful and has good roads for cruising. Take your time and enjoy!
Beautiful locations. Go by boat to see several waterfalls. You will wish that you lived on this lake. The water is crystal clear, unlike many other lakes around. Mountain scenery, unlike any other in the area, makes excellent backdrop for a beautiful sun rise.
Absolutely beautiful National Forest. Have been here dozens of time and will continue to for years. Many fun activities are available such as white water rafting. Highly recommended as a vacation spot.
Beautiful river and forest. Nature at her finest!
Great views. Lots of motorcycle rides. Great camping. Nice people in a lot of small towns.
Absolutely beautiful can't wait until the leaves start changing
A beautiful forest in the Smoky mountains. Hiking trails, whitewater rafting, a train ride along the river and through the mountains. Best motorcycle roads if you like curvy winding highways. Lots to do and see in that area.
Beautiful water falls. Wont be disappointed. Just the motorcycle ride on 28 south to get there was awesome.
Truly unspoiled with many activities to keep you busy... So much to enjoy.
Beautiful place to escape the heat of summer.
My lady and I liked it. There was no crowds and all was ready for visitors. Rangers were very helpful. Very nice place.
We went on the zip line tour. Our guides, Jack and Dakota were incredible. So much fun. We always felt safe and it was beyond beautiful.
Beautiful forest and scenic drive (pictures are from Dry Falls). Such a beautiful place, if you’re in the area you should definitely stop by the charming little town of Highlands North Carolina just outside of the forest #nationalforest #waterfall
One of my favorite places to go trail running! You can't beat the prize view at the tops of the trail runs (bottom of some) Waterfalls and incredible mountain views everywhere.
No complaints. Pretty
Beautiful is all I can say. This place is touched by God.
This is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is a real gem. If you are lucky enough to drive through, please consider stopping at one of the many wonderful hiking spots, local raft companies, local pubs and resteraunts, and listen to some local live music while taking in the gorgeous nature surrounding you!!!
Lots of things to do hike, raft, enjoy nature
Great place to ride your bike
Absolutely beautiful views and all kinds of things to do in
The water here is so beautiful. Can't say anything bad. The rafting was extremely fun with Wild Water
A gorgeous national forest filled with turkeys, deer, and other assorted wildlife that can be seen at various times of the day and night. Wildflowers, flowering trees, cool mountain air, crisp clear nights make this forest a gem.
Absolutely Gorgeous! Our favorite spot in the NC Mountains. Highly recommend the entire area. Beautiful trails around the river. Nantahala Lake is so clear you can see straight to the bottom. Great Cabins in the area that were clean and affordable without lacking any of the amenities.
Beautiful wilderness area. Lots of mountain streams and springs. Great hiking trails throughout the area. Nice and cool during the summer months especially at higher elevations. Great area for disbursed camping.
Gorgeous sights and sounds. The water is pretty chilly but fun to raft down. The people living there and the tourists are very nice and polite people.
Loved following the southern end of the Blueridge Parkway
Beautiful clear and cold mountain water flows through some of the most gorgeous terrain in the southern Appalachian mountains. If you're interested in having fun in whitewater, this is the place for you! The outfitters here are well prepared and will get you geared up for your trip downriver. Come on and have a blast!
We actually live surrounded by the Nant. and love the peace and serenity. Nice to be able to take off from our yard into park to hike.
Beautiful scenes easy access and ride.
Well, first off....its the Nantahala. The Cherokee knew the value of this area. They hid out here during the large Indian relocation program. The mountains are steep, the rivers run clean, and clear. Wildlife is everywhere, if your patient, observant, and quiet....its an outdoor lovers playground. From whitewater kayaking, canoeing, and rafting. To ziplines, canopy tours, swimming, hiking, fishing....its an amazing place to sit back and soak in all of natures glory. To unwind, relax, and slip off into a better, quieter place and to forget about the daily juggling act of life. So if you're having, one of those days. I strongly suggest a day trip, or even a weekender, to the Nantahala area
Gorgeous. My boy loves swimming in the stream
God has blessed me by letting me live here.
Absolutely beautiful scenery, lots of place to stop and take it all in.
We visited the Nantahala Outdoor Center to white water raft. Pretty chill river (not rough at all. It's pretty scenic if anything.) and helpful staff. If you're looking to purchase Nantahala merch, highly recommend checking out the small store where you purchase photos of your white water rafting trip. They have stuff there that they don't have in the main outdoor center store.
Very beautiful and awesome place to hike
It was a place of peace ,just nature and us just love it
Loved hiking through on the Appalachian Trail! Some climbs took it easy on me while others....a bit more challenging! Thanks for keeping your trails so well maintained & clean!
Most beautiful cliff edges ive ever seen
Love it! Absolutely beautiful.
Great Place! Nature at its finest!
Good place for family fun and entertainment ride the river ride the train nice.
If you love country roads and beautiful scenery this is a must see
Great landscape.. some good camping spots dotted around the trail.
Beautiful place. Nature at its best
If you love outdoors definitely add to your hiking list
Great place to go and spend time with nature.
Beautiful waterfall. Great hiking trail which leads to the beginning of the Appalachian trail.
Beautiful mountain stream location for rafting and kayaking. Enjoyed a picknick by the stream as we watched others enjoying the water.
A cool stop with fun activities the whole family can enjoy. Ziplining, ropes course, white water rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, swimming, and paddle boarding. With this many things to do you'll never be bored. The staff is nice and conversational as well, which is a big plus. Highly recommended.
This is a great of White Water Falls in Jackson County. Awesome Falls.
so much to do ..good value..brilliant guide on white water rafting ...
Absolutely amazing! Dry falls with the waterfall you can walk under was breathtaking. I have never seen such a strong waterfall that you can actually get that close to! Definitely a must see!!
The forest sure doesn't disappoint as an escape from the city life or even suburban life. Enjoyed 3 days walking on the AT and a pass through Nantahala.
BEAUTIFUL A most relaxing way to spend the weekend. The weather was great the views were spectacular and the fishing was magnificent
You can still get lost in this deep forest. It is beautiful. Fast rivers make for great rafting or kayaking. Great holes on many rivers make for great trout fishing. Nantahala lake is deep and great for swimming. We rented a boat and had a great day exploring the various coves.
Everyone knows the NOC ...but if you don't, you need too! There are many rafting companies to choose from, this is our favorite. The trails are beautiful, the forest is amazing. Have fun!
Beautiful place❣️
We went to Dry Falls in Highlands. The drive is very scenic. As you ascend, the road narrows as you drive through the gorge, at one point it got a little scary. Narrow road going up the mountain, on the right side, you can look down in the gorge and there's I drop straight down. In the same spot going down you are smushed up against a rock face that isn't flat. In 14 years of driving the mountains, I've not ever been that worried. The falls itself was nice to see. Of course it's a long way down to the falls, and you have the falling rocks signs once you are under the falls. However, if you ever get the chance to visit, it is an amazing sight to see.
Just a beautiful National Forest to drive through. It's worth the time to be here.
We went and it started raining, it was like a real rain forest. Very green and beautiful views of nature. The kids loved it, they picked up sticks and started acting like they were in the Vietnam war. Take some dirty sneakers with good ankle support. Lots of rocks to walk on.
Beatiful scenery, and the main trail is easy and msuntained. The side trails are not maintained, and that makes the overall hike so much more fun. You can decide on the difficulty of the hike.
I love it but I have not been there in years why am I getting these saying I was there when i wasn't! I am homebound my car or phone hasn't been there in years
Beautiful! Can't wait to come back.
I liked it and I could take my doggie, you can't in the smokey mountain national park...
Love it. Great place to take my dog.
We took our dog to the trailhead and it was a nice short hike up and back to the waterfall. The small parking area was full but you can park along the road and there was a group of people with their 6 dogs which we had to stand aside and wait a bit till they passed. The trails narrow and loops back around. I recommend going when it's not busy.
It's cool that you can walk under the water fall.
So many wonderful places to see and visit in the Nanahala national forest. Beautiful waterfalls, nice woodland walks and exciting mountain hikes are everywhere along the way. My favorite places in the world are here. I love this place!
Beautiful water fall. Not far off the road so it's accessible for almost anyone. If you're anywhere in the area you don't want to miss this one.
So beautiful, and relaxing. . . good place to go and just forget about your problems and live
A beautiful spot to rest or visit. So cool and peaceful on a warm summer day. Don't just drive by.
Mother nature at it's finest.
The water is great and it's beautiful and quite a nice place to relax
Waterfall hikes were relatively easy. Love the mountain area.
Beautiful views glenn falls is an easy hike
Bald River falls just beautiful
One of the best rivers for beginners on whitewater. Great scenary, always a wonderful time.
Absolutely Amazing! Cant wait to go back
Beautiful views and a very relaxing place. Loved it.
Great roads for riding a motorcycle
Drive through national Forest was a great experience. I enjoyed the drive
So peaceful...beautiful river running through complete with rocks, little waterfalls, trees, lot of water sport companies available throughout!
Extremely caring Veterinarian. Fair prices.
Went to the shooting range great for what we went for.
Dry Falls was beautiful and lovely walkway to the falls. Bridal Falls easily accessible.
So relaxing to be one with nature.
Awesome place! Enjoyed every minute of the 5 days I spent here. Very beautiful scenery and lots of outdoor activities from whitewater kayaking and fishing on the Nantahala River to ziplines and hiking on the Appalachian Trail. All of which will surely have you wishing you could spend a couple of extra days!
Always a beautiful place to kick back and relax
Best fun I have had in a long time. Everyone is friendly and you will be soooooo relaxed.
Loved it.. much more to do and see during July then during November.
Great hike! Challenging but doable! I definitely recommend if you have time. Great view as well!
Just beautiful, what's there to say ??
Wonderful trailhead to lookout over the mountain. First half of training was a bit strenuous, and decided not to try more demanding route back. View was spectacular, even through the clouds.
B-E-A-YOUUUUUTIFUL. This place was made for photographers and nature lovers alike. Great trails and all around breathtaking. I've enjoyed every second of it and have been since I was a kid. I've been coming to Bryson for the past 15 years and it never ceases to provide a great experience. I suggest chimney tops trail for EXPERIENCED hikers. It's about an hour and a half hike at a decent pace, but boy is it steep! Once you get up there and see that chimney, though, it makes it all worth it.
Absolutely beautiful. It's very different from the Rockies, the only other mountain range I've seen in the United States and I can't wait to go back in a different season. Most areas we saw were very touristy but some were as they were, wild, natural and breath taking.
Great place to enjoy the outdoors. Biking, hiking, fishing, photography, or just find a quiet place and enjoy nature.
Beautiful place to hike and see all of God's wonders
Great ride on the tail of the dragon. Very few people were driving it that day. Just have to be careful it is one of the best mountain roads I have driven in a long time
Would live here if I could. Love this place.
Loved it on the lake. Beautiful waterfalls you can boat right up to. Will definitely be back
This place is awsome family owned and operated very unique items on site that set them apart from others in the area i go up to North Carolina every year and this buy far was my family's best experience "rock hounds " gem and Rock Mine makes u feel like family we will be back next year !
Love this peaceful piece of mountain
One of the most beautiful places to take the family. Plenty of things to do. Great lodging, and beautiful falls and nature trails. This is a perfect family vacation spot.
It's beautiful...but make sure you have good brakes and drivers who are alert and up for the task.
It is so beautiful here, in the mountains. It's a great place to camp, ride the river rapids, and spend time with those you love!
An opportunity of a lifetime to see the way things once were in early America. Beautiful vistas and streams.
Great time at this beautiful place! Went tubing, and had a blast!
Just experienced a small part of a large forest but it is beautiful.
Lovely place to visit nature at it's best.
Bear creek falls; beautiful hike up to the falls.
There is SO much to do here. We loved hiking and seeing the waterfalls and fishing. This forest is so beautiful and has so much to see. There is also tubing and rafting from what we saw but we weren't able to do either. It's peaceful and the perfect place to go camping. I would recommend it to anyone!
Beautiful! Loved going rafting and picnic afterwards!
Fun to ride on your motorcycle. Cool air in the high elevations even during the hottest days of summer. Beautiful views from both sides of the Cherohala Skyway.
One of North Carolina’s most beautiful places! Do yourself a favor and plan a visit soon!
Just over state line on Tate City rd in NC. Interesting geology/rock formation/deposite along and in Tallulah River . Recent burn area opposite side of road. Mostly all new growth but beautiful just the same...
Was great enjoyed the nature and real beautiful fall birds singing.
It was an amazing experience to hike and camp. Real connection to nature!
Great place to enjoy kayaking rafting or hiking
National forests are here for everyone to enjoy. Nantahala is technically part of Pisgah national forest now but it doesn't take away from how awesome it is that we can do somewhere so gorgeous, for free.
It's a beautiful view and place. Its just not quite as private as we had hoped with the surrounding yurts. The fire pits are also shared so your neighbors may want to use your location for a fire. Other than that its absolutely spectacular. Be sure to look at the night sky while you are there. It's fantastic!!
This is a beautiful area. I go here a couple times a year to relax and I've always found new, more beautiful areas to explore.
We had such a great time on this trip! We went to several waterfalls that are relatively easy to get to. Dry Falls is a must as it is an easy hike for anyone. Bridal Veil Falls is nice, but not nearly as impressive. The Nantahala is awesome and I recommend everyone experience it at least once in their lives.
Beautiful area in the mountains. Plenty of things to do! And gorgeous views all around... it's time we head back
Such a magical place, every season. Lake Nantahala is the jewel of the area with its clear turquoise water, followed by the rushing waters of the river. Always cool and peaceful, definitely a place to explore and enjoy!
Its in the middle of nowhere. No road sounds , no airplanes, no people. It's easy to get to. It's flat for ground camping and plenty of tree for hammock master race. Do it
A must visit for NC! Beautiful scenery in peaceful nature. From great hiking trails, to trout fishing, picnics, white water rafting to tucked away cabins for peace and relaxing. A wonderful place to take a beautiful vacation.
Lots of waterfalls (pictures are Holcomb Falls) and the roads are well made and kept and virtually any vehicle can manage them. Trails are just the same. Camp sites are plentiful, yet you may have to know where to look already to find some of them.
Dry falls is a lasting memory that you can keep on going to it never gets old
Only 4 because it's a bit crowded due to the popularity of the rafting and kayaking. The fewer the people the happier I am.
Beautiful park. Nice mountains and easily floatable river.
