REVIEWS OF 9/11 Memorial IN New York

It’s definitely a good place to stop by but not necessarily visiting it. It’s a good thing if you stop by to honour the people who have lost their life. Furthermore don’t forget what the people in the third plane did and respect all of them!

Petros Biris

Really worths visiting. You need to have a couple of hours for visiting it. Better book your tickets to the museum, otherwise you will find yourself queuing up for 30 or more minutes outside. Was raining the day I was there, so if you don’t have a ticket beforehand make sure you have an umbrella for rain or sun as there is no shelter

Tomasz Czado

Everyone who followed the events that took place in 2001 must visit 9/11 Memorial & Museum. Hundred of people died in that tragic moment and thousand of people lost someone there. Museum commemorates that moments with dignity and in a very gentle way. There are many things like firetruck, original foundations of WTC, stairs, 9/11 Memorial Pools and much more things that realize you how much pain this tragic moments was for the people. 9/11 Memorial Pools have a huge symbolism - it shows not only where WTC buildings were stand and what were their sizes but also chasms in the middle of the pools shows people that have gone.

Very moving memorial. The fountains are breathtaking and tranquil. There are several benches nearby where you can sit and just take in the sight. Walking around and looking through each of the names is also a moving experience. I highly recommend spending a day at the museum and hearing all of the accounts of that day. Also make sure to visit the survivor tree near the fountains.

clément le bleis

Emotional place, the memorial blew me away. I had a lot of shivers down my spine when i visited that place. You cannot skip it if you are visiting NYC. You can feel the energy built up there. See the fountains illuminated and imagine these towers were here 18 years ago. Even your tears cannot speak. We shall never forget.

Aldo Centomo

Breathtaking memorial for all those that perished on that fateful terrible day. The names on the metal plaques that circle the site are encouraged to be touched and it feels like when that occurs, they come alive for a brief moment. Never forget those that so bravely gave of themselves in saving lives. In such hell, the best in people resurrect and all become brothers.

Ashley Stearns

Beautiful memorial. It's very impactful and well laid out. While you can get a guided tour here, or tickets to the museum...I do not know if it is necessary. I think walking through the area is enough. There is a police presence here with many officers on site. Also various street vendors on the corner.

Peter Coubertier

What a great moment when 33 Navy Seals took.the the water swimming across the Hudson River in memory to the 911 falling victims. To all the team that made this day a special to family and friends. Nice job

Ken Gosling

Beautiful, a must see. A place that’s strange to relate but, peaceful, respectful (like a church but not the hush hush, shhh atmosphere. If that makes sense to you. A place that you could stand and say a private prayer and not look out of place in today’s politically correct dumbness! I shall return to this area every time I am in NY. I for one shall NEVER forget.

Nald Per

Great place to visit, however the guided tour is not recommended. I took the tour for 12:00pm, when I was on the line to get the headphones, the guy/girl, that was handing over the headphones asked for my ticket and told me that it was the regular entrance even though that it said “tour” and had the 12:00pm tour time. He/she directed me to buy the ticket for the tour again. Upon showing the ticket to another attendant, she gave me the headphones and indicated that there was some confusion with the tickets. If there is confusion, train the people, or send a communication to clear things up with the employees. The tour gave not to much interesting information than the one you can read on the exhibits. Save the extra $20 and tour the museum by yourself.

Andrew Muttiah

Visited this for the first time last month and finally saw what it is like in real life. Very beautiful place. Well built fountain in the middle and plenty of chairs to sit on and enjoy the place on the sides. Easy access from public transportation. Easy to notice from a vehicle in traffic. Great location. Gets very busy during summers due to tourists coming in. Definitely visit this when in New York.

Mark Lesher

Outstanding museum. Very somber. Outside memorial pools are great at night.

Rebeka Stander

Great and sad experience, but still is one of the location that is a must if you are visiting the city for the first time. In the area you can find food and drinks. The best way is to check in Teddy's guide for any deals around you.

Art De La Garza

I remember the exact place I was at when this happened. I watched it completely unfold in TV. This memorial brought tears to my eyes but it's a great tribute to the fallen. Especially the first responders. If you're a patriot this is for you. Just be warned it's graphic and also they have a section for the terrorists which I glanced at but wasn't willing to give them my time. Be prepared to spend more than 4 hrs there, eat a good breakfast.

Jeff Granowski

A beautiful, serene tribute for those who lost their lives 9-11. Hallowed ground for sure. As a First Responder I am pleased with the open tribute so we never forget

Ciara Bassano

Stunning! It was a very humbling experience, especially because I was born after 9/11 occurred. It was so peaceful watching the water fall and not knowing where it went added to the experience. All of my family was moved to tears as well as myself. It was an honor to be able to go and see such beauty.

Michael Kerrick

I implore anyone and everyone to go bask and take in all the emotions and feelings that this memorial surrounds you with. As a first responder myself I was taken back while making my way through the museum, being succumbed with the emotions of what happened on the infamous day. Truly a must see experience.

Nic Duersch

Not a lot of words need to be said, honestly. Gorgeous. Holy ground. Silent. It truly is a reverent place that is breathtaking. It helps us to remember the sheer amount of people whose lives were lost and lives that were changed forever that fateful day. Its a must see.

Warren Kilfoil

What an incredible experience, so well put together, brought a tear to my eye. Such a sad thing to happen, and it's fantastic how all the memories have been so carefully placed in this incredible museum to remember all those lost heros in this tragic event. Well worth a visit.

giustino valenti

Made my 1st visit since responding on 9/11. Very emotional for me but cathartic. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the museum is very tastefully done. My only problem is the gift shop and carts at such a solemn place. I understand it is necessary to fund the museum but I feel it bnb is inappropriate.

David Kenny

An incredibly moving experience. The museums documents this tragedy in a way that pays great tribute to all the victims of that terrible day. Time required: one and a half / two hours Ticket price for one adult 29 dollars. Highly recommend.

Daisy Aiken

Beautiful place, we went to the 9/11 museum. Heartbreaking but also fascinating to re-live the experience of that day again. A horrible tragedy that demands our respect. A mass of innocent lives lost and a mass of emergency responders rushing towards their own deaths, unknowingly, but trying to save as many as they could. Soooo many visitors at the museum and memorial from all over the U.S. and all over the world. You would hear many different languages and see many different people: just like Tuesday September 11th, 2001. You must go. You must experience it. You will cry, if not on the outside, you'll do it on the inside.

Black Star

Charged of memories and different objects from this day. I cannot describe it because you can only feel it. That's a must seen place, also very well describe in all language thanks to the guide (cell phone and headphones).

72ak47

This is a part of the NYC history. The museum shows lots of things maybe too much. Videos are well explained with english subtitles. I advise people to download the officiel app to listen explanations and to follow the itinerary of the visit. Indeed, not so easy to find the good direction without it for a good visit. App could be improved to get a GPS as the one of the American museum of natural history.

Rick Lemoine

Thank you to the designers of this place you couldn't have picked a better representation of the people we have lost. This was an amazing visit as well as any emotional one. I'm happy to say when I was there it wasn't that crowded so I was able to really enjoy the atmosphere. A highly recommended visit. They allow you to touch the name Engravings which is a special feeling for those who have lost. For more interesting reviews and places to visit check out @ricklemoinevip

It's a must to visit and pay respect to those who lost their lives. We found the experience in the museum and at the memorial very emotional, viewing the displays and reading/listening to accounts . A credit to you USA for creating this commemorative place to so many that perished. Memories never fade in our hearts.

Davis Flood

I was born in 1999, so I don't remember the events that happened on September 11, 2001. I always was taught the significance of the day, but I never comprehended the repercussions of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Going to the 9/11 memorial opened my eyes completely. I was mesmerized by the personal accounts and the sacrifices made by very brave Americans. I was in tears for many parts of the exhibit. Going to the 9/11 memorial is a must for every human being that has the opportunity to go. I can say that it has changed my life for the better. God bless America

Nesha

Since i was there during 9/11, the memorial was a nice way to go back and pay my respect for the deceased. It was heartbreaking. What i saw was a very emotional experience for me. I recommend a visit. Forever NYC, surviving members and their family, military, and veterans discounts.

Jessica Hash

This was my first time. Emotional. Inspirational. ...and the underground mall was a surprise! Huge with access to the subway.

Sean Gilbertson

On my recent visit, the reflecting pools really had an effect on me. The water around the edges seemed like people walking around the city - busy but placid; productive and flowing. But that water just near the edge gets caught, accidentally, in these separate falls, tumbling way, way down, until they’re swallowed into a mistless anarchy. Then this water flows, forever, into the pit. And for what? This march - this quiet trauma - is always happening. It repeats and retells its story over and over. It’s indifferent but insistent.

Anna Le Jeune

Very moving memorial outside. Visit the museum for an emotional reminder of the events on that fateful day. Very well put together and engaging exhibits. Maybe bring a tissue

Ashley Hinkle

Amazing museum. Deftly captures the horror of that day as well as the resiliency of the American people. Would definitely go again. I was there for 2.5 hours and I still feel like I missed half the exhibits!

Angel Lopez

I haven't walked on these grounds since the original towers were here. It feels different but you can also feel the history of the place and truly enjoy the beauty that it has. As a born raised New Yorker it is amazing to see the remembrance of all my fellow New Yorkers being remembered.

Sveta A

One of my favorite places in the city. There’s some special energy there. The fountains are beautiful and very unusual. It is a horrible tragedy that happened with the Twin towers and that so many people died so the monument is a great place to visit to give tribute, remember, and grieve for the terrorist attack. The park around is beautiful and the freedom tower is located right be the pools.

Jenny meah

The atmosphere was affecting but peaceful and dignified. The memorial fountains have the name of every unfortunate soul who lost their life. The staff put a white rose by names on their birth dates. The museum is located in between the two memorials. Its design cleverly combines an open view of the substructure and original supports with an artful industrial style. The exhibitions provided context and let the events stand for themselves while avoiding sensationalism; it was all the more powerful for this.

Piero Bosco

One of of the most important places to go and see in NYC. The memorial is expansive and pays a huge tribute. Don't just see the fountains outside as you will be missing out on the huge amount of dedication that's been put together. I recommend you go to visit as early as you can in the day as it will take a few hours to cover everything, book online to avoid queues. Most of the memorial cannot be photographed so you will have to see it in person. There is a lack of seating throughout the journey so be prepared for a long time walking.

monique esposito

Its beautiful to see what they did and how far we've come as Americans it's sad the lives we lost but it proves how strong we are United. I took my kids so they could understand better. And it was amazing

Matrika Edwards

Beautiful memorial to honor the lives that were lost. The names are printed all along the 2 memorials, with water flowing down inside the holes.

Kenton Ethridge

Something all Americans should see at least once in their lives. This was my first time. Emotional. Inspirational. ...and the underground mall was a surprise! Huge with access to the subway.

Troy Siver

Completely a moving experience! As a veteran that literally was in boot camp the week after the 9/11 attack, just so happened to be signed up already to join, all the same heart felt American feelings of what makes this the strongest nation of pride reestablished the reason why I am still serving today. I was amazed of all walks of life at the memorial from around the world, you could hear a pin drop through the entire memorial. Great respect to the men and women who developed the memorial that is an amazing tribute to what happened that day in america and the bravery of everyone involved. God bless all the lives lost that tragic day and their families. Also to my brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice to bring justice to evil and to those still representing the flag today! Thank you.

Natalia Olivera Silva

A great job was done with this memorial. I really like that they keep security on site, as well as maintenance who do a great job keeping the area clean.

Anne Marie Mcateer

A must do finally managed to visit and pay my respects as a member of the UK police visit do it all to really appreciate what happened that awful. Day and think there by the grace of God go I

M'lord

Visited last week. Amazing place, I didn't get to go to the museum but the memorial and the train station are outstanding. The memorial is such a beautiful and important place, it means so much. One of a kind place, the vibe is so special. A must in NYC

Aaron Bajor

Absolutely a must. As moving as you’d expect and hope, but also more thorough and holistic of a perspective on everything. Highly recommend and also suggest buying tickets online in advance

mendy holt

If you are coming to NY this is a must visit. I was very moved emotionally just standing resembling so many people died on this exact spot in 2001. I recommend you go and just "feel".

Patsy Oberg

Totally awesome. I am from Ore and was camping in Wisc when the event took place. The massiveness of this event isn't real unless you experience this museum and memorial.

Hao Liou

Remember to make a reservation online to save your time! You will see a big difference if you come here with your prepared tickets. You can also get a free basic ticket online If you are an active duty . It’s a pretty good museum for everyone who wants to know 911 event. When I got into here, I saw what happened in that time like I was there ... yeah and felt sad that so many people died... It’s sad and also a important history for everyone to remember.

Villiage Lions

The place is incredibly massive for its size, which would make sense since the two buildings were here. Definitely worth a visit and a couple of Kodak moments. Be careful with what you bring with you over to the memorial, because there are a lot of counter terrorism units there as well as security.

Dan Zimmerman

Unbelievably sobering. This is a MUST for every American and everyone who visits NYC. Much more than just the loss of life for first responders. But so much history, information & artifacts. Incredible experience. Plan on spending roughly 3 to 4 hours here to be totally honest.

Sandra Conner

Beautiful architecture. Whoever designed this place had vision. It's unlike any building I've ever seen.

Lasandra Aguilar

The museum and memorial was amazing. The memorial is beautiful reminder of a tragically important day in our history. Incredible experience.

Vincent Le Floch

This was amazing! Especially the museum. Very sad and touching! A must see! I felt very sad though, you really feel how bad that day has been for all the poor poeple that died in the towers.

Lauriane Cochenet

A must see even for a 48 hours stay in NY! Very impressive, powerful and moving visit! Minimum expect to spend 2,5 hours in the museum as there is so much to see !

AnthonysDen

Even though I didn't lose any family members and/or friends when the Al-Qaeda terrorists attacked the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001, I still come down & pay my respects to the nearly 3,000 unfortunate souls who lost their lives that day. While this country DOES have its problems (AND I am currently not very happy with how things are going as of late), this country is still my home: every year since 2002, I have come down to honor the fallen, giving my annual visit great meaning & purpose. The Memorial Fountains in Downtown Manhattan are beautiful works of art, & definitely worth paying the area a visit even if you didn't have anyone who was lost in those attacks back in 2001. God Bless the USA!

Marianne Fanelli

What a beautiful, thoughtful, respectful and appropriate memorial. Chilling details, recorded phone messages of those doomed to death. Emotional and highly impactful photo display of all the innocent victims of that horrific day. This memorial is a fitting tribute. The horror of that day should forever be known - along with the heroic acts of hundreds who sacrificed their safety and their lives to help others. Future generations must forever understand the hateful devastation these evil, despicable, demented terrorists inflicted on thousands of innocent victims and this great nation. This memorial was necessary.

Shari Costanzo

Must see! Park with reflecting pools closes around 9 pm. Very emotional and beautiful at the same time. The names around the pool light up at night, so good to stop day or night!

Joshua Huddleston

Thank you to those brave men and women.it was amazing to see how large the space is where the tower used to stand. Its beautifully lit up at night with water tearing down the sides. Names are etched in the to the wall railing along the top. Really a beautiful momentum that is a kust see if you visit.

Amy Demas

Simply sobering experience. Such a well thought out memorial. Brings up a ton of emotions. I want to visit again.

Mimi Wahinee

The memorial site where the two square reflecting pools in the center marking where the Twin Towers stood is so beautiful. It is a good place to just stop and reflect on our lives today. It is such a popular tourist attraction but at least people were very quiet and respectful when walking around the site.

denisse Sarmi

This place is so special. Not because what historically happened that day, but because what it makes you feel. To get in there is like a regular day at the airport: There are security guards frisking you, checking your bags through a scanner, you got to make big lines, and the waiting to pass the check point before you get inside. Once you get there everything changes! There are to water fountains on each place where used to be each one of the towers. The sound of the water falling down makes this place soulfully. All the names of the people who passed away that day are carved on the marble around of each fountain. Some people leaves a flower on the names. I stayed there melancholy and did a pray for them. I don't have words to describe more, but what I felt that moment have never happened before. It is very emotional. God bless America

K Webfest

A respectful memorial place to the lives lost and a wonderful tribute to the heroes of that horrible happening. The memorial artworks capture the history, but for me the greatest impression was created by the two large water features surrounded by plaques that carry the so many names ofrom all the victims. I watched the water tumble toward the centre underground of the feature and reflected on that 9/11 in 2001. The way the water falls inwards reminded me of the indelible images of the collapsing towers. A very moving experience. Can't help take photos. Unforgettable moments. Glad I was there.

Adam Hobbs

A fitting tribute to those who lost their lives and the brave souls who died trying to save them. An absolutely stunning and tasteful monument, that I hope will last for hundreds of years.

vanessa martin

5 stars for loved it doesn't seem right . I didn't love it and nobody should. It's a memorial, a time to remember and that's what it does.. well.

Lisa Viernum

There was 7 of us 6 adults 1-4yr. This museum is the best I've ever been in. Well done it was a blessing to see how they honored all our fellow America's. We were all so moved cried in several different areas. Can honestly say it was honor to be able to go. Everyone should put this on their list of most does. May God Bless their family's always !

Sridhar Srinivasan

We enjoyed the visit, World Trader Center (The tallest building in the United States, Western Hemisphere, and the sixth-tallest in the world) will be good from here.. but when we are near to that we not feel that -- As it's NYC all the building looks tall.. We not went inside the Museum but we roam around the Memorial.. RIP 9/11 Victims..

N Murden

My first time visiting and the moment you step in the area you feel a sense of calm. Its peaceful and purposeful. It was designed with class and dignity.

Ellie R

I could not get here fast enough to pay tribute. I love arriving after a long flight, taking a river taxi to Lower Manhattan and then walking to the 9/11 memorial site. I have made it a tradition as I frequent the area.

Marc Serra Oller

An absolute must visit. Keep quiet. Do not shout. Speak quietly. Be respectful. Keep pictures to a minimum. This is not an amusement park nor Coney Island.

Amy Gonte

Bring Kleenex because you are going to be wrecked after going through the time progression part. Its so emotional, had I been by myself I would have sat and cried for an hour. It is so well done and so moving. There are many personal stores and items from those people displayed. You could easily stay there for 4 hours, if you can handle it. I highly recommend the guided tour as it provides a wealth of information about the buildings.

Linda LoPresti

We all remember where we were on that day. Being in the actual space was a solemn and very humbling experience. I was there with family from Italy. It made me understand, even more, how the whole world shared in the pain of this devastating event. The setting was respectful, artfully done and a reverent reminder of so many, still within the walls where it all happened.

Biks Videography

It is a must visit place to pay respect who lost their lives on that day. This place is so special. There are two water fountains on each place where used to be twin towers. The soothing sound of the waters will take to a different level of peace. All the names are carved on the marble of each fountain. We could see some flowers on the names and we were speechless. We prayed for them and completely speechless thinking of that time. I was 16 years old when it was happened and never thought I could visit this place in my life. but after 20 years felt that moment. God Bless America.

jason knox

We just toured the park. You don't have to spend all day there to "get it" if you were alive at the time. Everybody can relate to something there. This name got to me the most as it closely reflected where my family was at the time.

Yearn t-Learn

There's no nice way to "celebrate" such an act of inconceivable evil, but this museum and it's focus on celebrating the lives of those victims and emergency services heroes and the resilience of the human spirit is something I will long remember. A very worthwhile trip to the city and one I would recommend fully. Tip: get a New York Pass for as much as you can.

Mandie Djokro

I went to the museum just because my best friend, who came from Indonesia, wanted to check it out. I happened to be there on Tuesday, which mean, free admission Tuesday! At first I thought, "it's just another museum." It turned out it's amazing. The best, yet the most tragic museum experience I've ever had. If you are travelling to NYC, this place is a must! Even though you think you hate museum, you still have to check it out! My husband is the proof of that.

Kathleen Baldwin

Such a beautiful area. They have really created an amazing Memorial to 9/11. I learned of the story of the "Survival Tree". I have never heard the story before. It's beautiful. I was also told there is also one in Oklahoma.

Todd White

The first thing to recognize is this is a place of remembrance and reflection, not a "tourist attraction". As such it is a peaceful and classy place of reflection upon one of the major events in New York City and American history. New York City suffered on behalf of all Americans that day, and they have done their best to remember both the victims, and the resilience of its citizens.

Mrs. Bless

To visit New York City in July on vacation. This was a very very nice place to see this took place after 9/11 when they're feeling was attacked then his is replaced with the beautiful waterfall of memories of the loved ones that was lost. If you get a chance to go to New York City stop and check this place out it is really beautiful. The 911 museum of memories what is a place that is unbelievable of items and statues and memories a what occurred on that unfortunate day.

Rachel Clissold

If you’re a sensitive soul like me; I’d suggest skip doing the museum below and appreciate the energy of the fountains as it’s very peaceful and beautiful honouring of those who lost their lives on the tragic day. If you feel compelled to go below; you can get In free every Tuesday 5-6pm (which I stumbled across). It’s very crowded, but worth the visit if you want to honour those who lost their lives.

C H

Simply put... "What more can be said about one of our nation's most sacred places in America, if not the planet. Amongst the tall buildings of lower Manhattan and Liberty Square, lie two peaceful waterfall pools that signify the memories and spirit of American lives taken too soon. There is a calm here, as if a God watches over it. The engraved names, marble perimeters, endless waterfalls, vast depths, quiet whispers, footsteps and echos of the pillars that once stood mighty to remind the world of US strength and dignity, keep guard on the lives that once were thriving our financial district impacting the globe. It a place to pray, to reflect, to explore museums and ponder. Whether alone, coupled or family, this coordinate on earth deserves our visits, our reflections and our respect. God Bless those lives." This is the place to be this spring and summer. It is highly recommended. This will create memories that you will never forget. Please pay it a visit soon!! Today would be absolutely perfect. Yes, indeed! Go experience it for yourself. A fall visit to enjoy!

ΕΥΤΥΧΙΑ ΤΣΑΚΟΥ

It's a great monument! I felt as if all those people who died on that day were present. I needed to walk around it, to touch the names, to see the water falling down and then even deeper and then there were the white roses for those who had their birthday. So touching!

Poncho Rodriguez

Reminds us how weak humanity con be, and how strong the power of love and solidarity are. A paradox between the greatness or an architecture and engineering marvel, and the most shameful destructive ability. Love, heroism, hate, shame... lots of different feelings at a time. Really moving.

W-S Tech Serv

Beautiful, sad, moving and tastefully done.. a must visit that brings to the fore all the memories and feelings that you had on that day, and reminds you of the bravery of all those that went to try and help that day too.

Kim Ketchum

Captivating and informative. Heartbreaking yet heart warming knowing how everyone took care of everyone else. How the nation came together as one for all.

Ron Rice

Walking through the park was nice. The displays are informative. Walk and rest.

Mike P

The memorial was very well done. I did the 45 min guided tour and it really enhanced the experience compared to just showing up and taking photos. Everything you see there has meaning but you wont know it by just showing up. I purchased the memorial guided tour and museum admission online while on the train to NYC in advance. If you plan on going on a weekend, I recommend buying tickets ahead of time as it gets busy. After the tour, you can skip the lines to go into the museum (people were lining up to buy tickets??). Allow 2.5 to 3 hours for the museum. 45 min tour plus 3 hours is nearly 4 hours so plan for that. Afterwards, I checked out the One World Trade Observatory and the Oculus (below ground). That was literally a full day's worth.

Banky Chalk

The place is underground and it can get crowded with visitors. But thankfully, it is well ventilated with air conditioning so you might want to dress in layers if it gets too cold. We were touched and saddened as we went through the exhibits. There is a map of the entire museum and we took our time visiting the exhibits and reviewing the events leading up to 9/11 and afterwards. You can easily spend over 3 hours here so allow yourself enough time as we spent about 2 and 1/2 hours here and we were mentally and physically tired. We did stop to have a bite at the cafe which is located at the top floor in the atrium.

Jill Harwell

The most memorable part, for me, was the exhibit where family members read aloud the names of relatives or friends they lost while Yoyo Ma gracefully played the cello in the background. Be aware that this is a huge museum, and it will definitely take at least 3 hours to fully explore!

paul daly

The most impactful and meaningful museum I have ever been too. This is a must see. I will return when I'm in NYC again.

Pauline Penson

Beautiful memorial. It's very impactful and well laid out.It is a great place to visit. There is a lot of energy and people there.Thank you NYC for preserving area.

Christina Wang

If you're in NY, don't question it just come. My heart truly breaks for those who suffered in this horrific tragedy. Walking into the very place that it happened.. words cannot describe. The museum did an amazing job showing us how and what everyone went through.. who... And the aftermath. There are seated areas, as well as tissues in specific areas. Easily spent hours here. The line can be super long so buy your ticket online, trust me.

Cruzer1128

To see the names and touch each letter..you still feel the pain of 9/11. Rest in peace to all the lives taken on that day and the 1st responders who risked their lives to save so many. The memorial is truly beautiful and ANYONE who has the chance to see it, should. Its emotional and sad yet it's beautiful and peaceful!!

Nilda M

The museum is quite overwhelming and boring. You wont be there more than 40 minutes. It felt sad but well organized. Crowds stars after 10 pm. book your tickets beforehand. You must go once in life.

LCD PLASMA INSTALLATION

Took me 18 years to come back and visit this area since I worked down there. Sobering experience and the memorial was done tastefully and respectful for those who lost loved ones. I would recommend visiting. Just remember this is not an amusement park this is a memorial so please respect it as such.

Izzy Perrin

What an incredible memorial to all those affected by the tragedy. Bring tissues, a lot of tissues. I could have spent days here but my heart couldn't take it. No photos in the main exhibits, quite traumatic so maybe not appropriate for young children. East access via the path and subway.

Reuven Zecharia

Brings tears to your eyes. Its a very moving experience. I Can't forget the towers, heck, it feels like yesterday that I was in them and on the roof...too much devastation- and for what?!? Horrible, incomprehensible evil...sadness too great to put into words. I knew folks terrible branded by this event. NYC & the world was never the same. We couldn't sleep in our bedroom that night from the air pollution though many would never again sleep in their bedroom (on any night) due to death :(

Natalie Allen

It so amazingly put together memorial. Very sad to see what so many people went through and the ones you lost there lives. I'll never forget that day watching TV live and seeing tower2 hit and go down. Prayers for all involved.

Alex Hill

One of the highlights of my NYC stay! A sombre visit, but incredibly well displayed. One of the best, touching museums I have ever visited. Tuesday evening is free providing you can get a ticket, but would recommend still making a donation to this fantastic attraction.

Aly Stamper

Pros: There's free tickets on Tuesdays starting at 4. It was a great place to go with the family on a whim without spending a fortune. The museum is really well done. It really hit my heart several times while I was inside. Lots to look at. Cons: This is a Pro/Con. We spent almost 2 hours inside and it still wasn't enough time. There was still more we could have seen or spent more time there and just didn't have it in us. I recommend checking it out if you're able to.

Vlad Albina

This memorial blew me away. I was surprised at how the information was presented. Very unbiased. It takes you through the moment to moment of what happened. You are guided through the basement of the bases of the twin towers as the story unfolds. I shed tears when I didn't think that I would, and couldn't stop myself. Very well done to tell the story! Thank you!

Justin Bayoneto

Certainly an emotional, yet necessary museum to visit, whether you’re just a tourist or local alike. While some rooms aren’t necessarily the most “eye catching” sections, you’ll certainly feel the impact in areas such as the memorial or history of 9/11, really any section that prohibits photography are the ones that’ll make you feel emotion. It’s haunting really, never in New York will you find a gathered group of people so quiet. While it’s a bit pricy, and perhaps odd that they even charge admission, it’s certainly a site everyone should visit at least once.

Brayden Mora

When seen as the the One Freedom Tower, Eternity Memorial and 9/11 Museum ... the visit was bittersweet. A tragedy where people remember that day, not unlike the JFK Assassination, this feels solemn. To see and in cases hear the innocence and faces of the 3000+ victims, one needs to approach respectfully. Glad that we came, definitely cathartic. Can’t imagine only because I lived here, that it felt this way. Americans need to remember the heroes of that day and thereafter.

Franck Girard

Beautiful memorial. Unbelievably sobering. This is a MUST for every American and everyone who visits NYC. I recommend you go and just "feel".

Go. A surreal place of violence, memories, peace, love, respect, and resistance. It is extremely motivating and impactful on the way we think about the victims and first responders and those who’s lives where on the line too save America and other foreigners people. The tour was incredibly notional and sometimes it was hard too not cry. They provide tissues but I suggest bringing your own. This monument was huge, and it was a great way too feel as if you paid your respect too the loves who lost their lives. Its difficult and at the same time a must see. We all remember where we were that day and this museum has done an amazing job of not only honoring those that lost their lives, but to bring back memories that are in you. Personally, I had to take a few breaks while touring as it's a lot to take in. It brought me to tears to see how well they have honored the first responders. Thank you, it means the world too me.

Gary Bedell

Such an important memorial. Everyone should make the effort to visit. Dignified, peaceful, calm yet heartbreaking. Do not go as a tourist. Go as a human being. It is everyone's duty to remember

Pat Newby

It's a sad place to visit and we didn't personally know anyone who lost their life that day. It is a beautiful memorial and am glad we visited. A fire truck came by with lights and sirens just as we arrived and it made me shiver to think about how it sounded that day. The families of those lost that day must be proud of this beautiful memorial.

Danielle Blevins

This is a very beautiful memorial. I really enjoyed that they added the fountain aspect to it. All the names on there were so surreal to see. It is so important to never forget that day and this was such a great way to keep all those that were lost in our memories.

Michael Ellington

Walking through this memorial is absolutely breathtaking. Not only that but the museum below is just awe inspiring. Walking through and viewing the exhibits was just shattering. They have done such a wonderful job of preserving history. I hope they continue to do such an amazing job. Way to go!

Lila Risenhoover

This is a very well done tribute to 9/11. Very sobering and touching. Some of the exhibits made you feel like you were there.

Matthew Chew

A must see on your trip to NYC. I can remember sitting in drafting class as a 15 year old teen and our teacher turning the class TV on. The first plane had hit and the building was burning. Our teacher's son had been employed at the firm that designed the WTC and had worked on it. He lived in New York and we all sat there in shock watching everything unfold. Then the second plane hit... a moment in time that would change the course of history. Seeing all the names, faces and stories of the people there and their families is heart wrenching. The belongings and equipment of the workers and first responders brings a sense of understanding as to the horrors that took place that day. This is something I'll never forget nor would I want to. It also shows westerners what has been going on in the other counties around the world that see their cities attacked and bombed and the tragedy of it all. Something that shouldn't happen to any innocent civilians regardless of their government petty squabbles with other counties. This memorial brings the human side of war to the forefront.

Ian

A must go if you've never been here, it's a tragic place turned beautiful. Learn about the stories of 9/11 and also the people who died there. The memorial is a beautiful place to remember all of those who lost their lives in this terrible attack. The museum tickets can be ordered online to skip a long line at the enterance, if you go here the museum is a really good extra, keeping you inside for quite a while learning about stories and history.

David Diamond

I have never even been here, but seeing the sight of it brings me to tears. I was born after the Day, but I can imagine what this world went through after it. My school, a private jewish school, takes pride in their intricate memorial services, and their yearly 9/11 memorial never fails to move. You don’t even have to go here ever to feel its impact. Lest We Forget.

Wendell Jones

Very humbling and should be seen in conjunction with the museum that is underground at the site. It can be quite emotional. I highly recommend seeing it and do not exclude your children and take the time to explain and answer their questions. I remember the 1993 attack too. I was working at an emergency room in Willimantic CT on that Tuesday morning 9/11/2001. It had been a slow morning and someone said that a plane crashed into one of the twin towers. As I was watching the report, I saw the second plane coming, turn and hit the second tower as it happened.

Tim Beard

The 911 Memorial Museum was very well done. It is definitely something that should be remembered and the sacrifices of the first responders should be honored and remembered.

Oren Druker

I went there night time, was very impressed and very touching. To see this place... the hole that it’s made... is like to feel the hole in our humanity heart! Well done design.

Rachel Atkin

JUST GO. This was a spur-of-the-moment decision to go to during our trip to NYC, and I’m so glad we went. We got into the museum around 5 pm and left at closing time, but we could have spent another hour there. It was very well done, very respectful, and I highly recommend it. Also, absolutely get the audio tour—it is 10000% worth it! I highly recommend this!

linda bailey

The 9/11 Memorial is awe inspiring. The reflection pools are such amazing and beautiful tributes to the people that lost their lives that day. You can't even begin to remember the devastation. They have beautifully expressed the massive loss our country endured that day. Beautifully done and moving!!

bryan walker

It was very moving. Saw it might and really glad I did. The lights and the sound of the running water forces you to stop and contemplate what you are seeing. It's free to visit, you simply walk up to it.

Phil Anderson

This is really so moving and a wonderful tribute to those who lost their lives here. I just don’t think a trip to New York would be complete without coming here and our kids especially found the place moving and also have them a chance to ask questions and understand the scale of the events which occurred here.

John Barber

Emotional, informative. A must for anyone while in NY who remembers what they were doing on 9/11 or for those who don't. We must never forget what freedom is and why we should cherish it so dearly. Extremists in any form should not be allowed a voice, especially in these circumstances. As one, we need to stand united for the greater good.

Efis Gloanas

A very haunting and powerful place. Tissues are offered in certain places but I would highly recommend bringing some of your own too. Incredibly difficult not to tear up as you walk in the very place where such tragedy occurred. The museum has done an incredible job laying out the story and including so many survivors tales. Expect to spend several hours there. If you are someone who is easily emotional, a walk down by the water afterwards offers some peaceful reflection time.

Anna Sh

The place you must visit. Pay 28$ to go to the museum. That’ll be an experience you’ve never had before. It’s tough to be there , but stay there and see as much as you can. Audio guide would be the best option. It’s just 8$, but requires your ID

Kirk Blake

This is a must see. The museum and memorial was amazing. I was touched by the exhibit and highly recommend everybody go through it. We spent a few hours inside and could have spend more.

Keith Mehrer

We took the guided tour and it was worth every penny. Tour guide was great and the museum itself was incredible. An emotional memorial that recounts the events in sometimes startling detail.

Nathan Cromie

I visited this place seven years ago and it is a very beautiful place. We shall never forget those who lost their lives on the tragic events of September 11, 2001. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims.

Michael Guajardo

This is one of the best museum/memorials I have ever been to. The amount of information and items collected in this place is amazing. It took me about 3 hours both visits to complete the museum.

Ed Reggi

Peaceful and relaxing! Do yourself a favor and walk over to this memorial. Don’t take a photo. Don’t make a video and try to not talk on the phone while taking in everything. Just remain perfectly present as much as you can. This is not only a memorial but it is holy ground. Shalom.

Linsi Locks

A beautiful memorial. The space is so large and serene, you truly feel how huge this loss was for America. There is an inside section that is very sad, with last words on the wall. You won't leave with a dry eye.

Douglas Calabrese

An extremely powerful experience. It gives information about 9/11, the twin towers, the clean up and the rebuild. There is a separate section downstairs which contains extremely powerful emotional stories but would probably be too much for young kids. Thank you for everyone that put this together and allows everyone of us to see a part of history that shaped this country but still respect the tragedy.

Jennifer Tackebury

Been here before. Brought a person who got activated when 911 hit. He was sent to protect Pentagon. He was very moved by the experience and enjoyed seeing the memorial and museum

Chris Hale

Words definitely can't describe the profound experience of visiting this memorial. I strongly recommend that you take the time to go and spend a couple of hours there, you will be glad that you did.

Chris Hall

The memorial is beautiful reminder of a tragically important day in our history. The calming water drowns out the noise and helps one focus on what's important. We will always remember!

DKS

Must visit place to understand the events of 9/11. A lot of tourist most of which were respectful. A handful were not. Visited on a Sunday and it was still busy. If I went back it would be at night.

Chance McNeil

This place is Amazing!! There is a real sense of reverence and a surreal feeling at the memorial. It's beautiful and peaceful in a busy city that never sleeps. I remember the day of September 11 2001. It an honor to visit this place and remember those individuals that passed on that day. It is a Beautiful memorial. My mind reflected by this tragic event. It helped to bring the country together and to help America to have a feeling of oneness again. I'm glad my family and I could attend and honor the fallen. As well as to thank and honor those individuals that serve and served our country and that help to make America a Beautiful free place to live! God Bless America!!

RVG1

Excellent. Going through the place is a very somber experience. The only thing I think they could improve on is the audio tour app. They should have #s next to the exhibits and have them match the clips in the app.

Gary Lithgo

Not as eerie as youd imagine in a place with its history. It's almost a celebration of the brave men and women that day. Different to what I expected

Paul Furth

An amazing place to visit. The outside memorial gardens and fountains themselves are a terrific and free park. The building is designed like a fallen tower. But most of the museum is underground. My friend and I took the guided tour and learned some amazing facts and events. One of the staff made note for us to go through the north building revolving door, which we would have missed. The bulk of the events, with great deal of detail, is housed on that area. I could easily have spend the entire day in the museum. The cafe is toward the top of the building. What was a horrific event in US history has been turned into a great place to learn. "No day shall erase you from the memory of time" - Virgil.

Theresa H

Moving, poignant, heart breaking. So beautifully done. Lines for tickets are slow so buy online ahead of time if possible. But once you get inside it really is astounding. Be aware if you are bringing young children there may be a few pieces you would want to shield them from.

Rich J

The memorial is not what I am actually reviewing here. It is the people who come here and forget that it is the final resting place for thousands. Those that died (and are still dying) deserve more respect than people taking selfies. Please visit this space and take a few minutes to reflect on what happened here. Remember to be respectful and honor those that died. Treat like you would treat the gravesite of a beloved family member. I have witnessed people removing the flags next to the names of the fallen an use them for photos. The level of bad behavior and tact is astonishing.

Michael Bessent

Very informative and emotional. Definitely worth downloading the tour app and bringing headphones as this gives you access to a large range of audio tours that are very engaging, Interesting and informative. The app Is free so there's no reason not to if you plan to go. The queues were very long so it is recommended to book your tickets in advance.

Todd Miller

The memorial was so well planned and so well done. I can't say enough about how respectful it was to what happened and how subtle the details are which just adds to the solemn respect of this memorial. Brilliant and thoughtful at every turn. I'm an Engineer, and I notice details like this. I hope and think I noticed 90% of them. It was so perfect. Whoever was on the planning team for this should feel absolutely great about what they have created to honor the lives lost and lives that continue today. The construction team/workers should also feel just as great in their creation of this memorial. This memorial represents something so much bigger than the tallest building, or buildings in the world!!! If you visit, take a very careful look. I could list the details for you, but I don't want to bore you with a longer review. Look carefully at everything, then look again at everything. Think about the scale of what happened here. Think about the people lost as well as those who survived this tragedy. Remember how America changed after this event (for the better in my honest opinion). I felt this change while driving in traffic. I felt this change while walking on the streets. We were one, and none of the small stuff mattered. We stand together no matter what our differences might be. Let the everyday little things go. Never forget!!!

Dicken Doe

It is hushed in the way you only get in Cathedrals in Europe. It all seems so recent still anyway, but the reminder here of all that happened that day is still poignant. It must have been truly terrible to live through it. A fitting tribute to the people that died that day, especially those that were there to save lives and lost their own.

Henry Spry

They did a great job with what was done to remember all those that lost their lives. It saddened my wife and I thinking about it. We could not even smile knowing this.

Isabella Latimer

I was 6 when 9/11 happened and it is one of my first formed memories. I remember so vividly the day. This site is beautifully done. The museum is incredibly moving and so powerful. To be able to see the lives claimed being remembered through artifacts, as well as the in memorium exhibit, was astonishing. To anyone complaining about paying - they need money for upkeep. I expected to pay much more - the space needle was more expensive than this & less significant to visit. Everyone should go.

FRESHTRACKS Consulting

We didn’t have our kids with us and we still felt rushed with the 3 hours we spent in this museum. The only reason we didn’t spend another 1-2 hours was because they were closing. The displays, audios, and videos will definitely paint a strong impression what happened and how we responded. Lots of emotions to experience here and a truly inspiring to see how we all come together in a crisis. It was touching to think about firefighters running into the buildings to save those who desperately needed their help knowing it was likely a one way ticket straight to Heaven. God bless those brave hero’s and may we never forget their sacrifice!

Murat Ensar Sirdas

You must visit here if you are in NYC. You feel the history of the twin towers. Even when there is a lot of people, it is completely quite. I like that. I added few pictures that i took there.

Jennifer Stacey

If you happen to be old enough to remember or have just heard from others about 9/11, then you have to visit the memorial site. I vividly remember the day it happened and I have told my children about it. My daughter and I had the chance to visit and we spent about a half a day walking through the site following the timeline of the events, looking at the carnage that remained, and reading the tributes to those who died that day. It was a powerful experience seeing the mangled emergency vehicles and building parts. My daughter was deeply touched even though she couldn’t remember that day from being too young. It reminded us how lucky we are to live in this country with our freedom and that there are those who hate us just for that reason and aren’t that fortunate.

Debbie Fung

A very thoughtful and well presented museum to remember the tragic event on 911. You could feel the heavy hearts all over the museum and they tried to capture all the stories that were untold on media that day. Did the early access tour and our guide was fabulous - take the time to walk through the museum and well worth the visit if you’re in NYC.

John Stephens

I had not been back to the city since before the attack. This tribute to those that died and a country that was healed from within is truly beautiful and awesome to behold.

Kimberly Gould

It is a great place to visit. There is a lot of energy and people there. There is a lot to see there and a lot of history behind it. It is big. I almost cried there because of haw many people died there. From kids, teens, adults, moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles. Wife's, husbands, doctors, ect. I loved it and wish I can go back to it and see everything there for another time.

Lara Stevens

Emotional, informative. A must for anyone while in NY who remembers what they were doing on 9/11 or for those who don't. We must never forget what freedom is and why we should cherish it so dearly. Extremists in any form should not be allowed a voice, especially in these circumstances. As one, we need to stand united for the greater good.

Wendy M

Have avoided coming here since it happened but in 2018...I took my family so we could say goodbye to the city we were born in and were raised in. We moved to the south. We could no longer afford to live there. It's a beautiful and moving tribute to the fallen.

S. K.ell

I would say this is a must see if visiting New York. It is very well done memorial and pays respect to the victims of 9-11. A interesting thing they do is put a rose on the name place for the victim whose birthday it is. Which is a real nice tribute. We went to it at day and night to get the ‘full experience’ and it was beautiful at both settings. Especially at night with the lights and reflections in the water..

Ella Xu

Extremely respectful and memorable for the people who were affected by 9/11. The most memorable part, for me, was the exhibit where family members read aloud the names of relatives or friends they lost while Yoyo Ma gracefully played the cello in the background. Be aware that this is a huge museum, and it will definitely take at least 3 hours to fully explore!

P Yackus

Must visit. Terrible event that is reason for memorial but a well planned reminder of a time when our country stood as one and supported each other. Very moving. Thank you NYC for preserving area.

Rodrigue Carneiro

Intense and impressive museum. Make you think about a lot of things after you visit this museum... lot of souvenirs coming back I really recommend visiting it, the story telling is really well done and reflect well the event

DFR

Wonderful museum. Great exhibits. Prepare yourself for an emotional experience. God Bless America

Dr.Pragnesh Vachharajani

A place to pay homage. Museum entry is surprising paid. How can you change to visit a memorial ? You can roam around and explore shopping center just next to it and do fancy brand shopping if you are interested. Good place to seat, big fountain, garden. The shopping complex next to it is nicely designed.

Brad Humphrey

Worth every dollar spent to get into the museum. A well done museum that makes you feel like you were there and back in 2001. The most powerful artifact they had was the top and bottom steel supports where the North Tower plane impacted the building. What a powerful piece of artifact from such a notorious day. Gives me chills just thinking about it.
