This Park is included in the category of State park.
Great camping. Reasonable price, $14. Covered cement picnic table, grill, level pad. Showered and restroom is clean. Beautiful view. Great sunset. Nice hiking trails
Absolutely beautiful place to stop. You can hike down to the lake and there are multiple other hikes as well. Very quiet place and it's easy to relax. We got a site with electric access and it was right by the bathrooms and shower though we didn't use the showers. I would recommend this state park for anyone going through or if you have the time, to stay the night.
I had a great experience camping at this state park. They allowed me camp free being a disabled veteran and they keep the place very clean. The lake was nice to swim in and they let you boat out there. There is no shooting anywhere out here by the way.
The trail is great for a long walk on an easy trail with many splendid views.
We had a great experience there, easy trails to the lake. lots of pumps for fresh water, camping spaces were very level and clean. Met the local snake and skunks but we just left them alone as the left us alone.
Very quiet experience and not alot of light pollution for star gazing
Been there a couple times... a good place to relax and release stress
Great lake perfect to take your boat or go swimming. Very little shade in some areas. Water gets deep fast so, if you don't know who to swim would not recommend unless near shallow areas.
Excellent state park. 10$ camping
Beautiful scenery, very well maintained, nice ride!
Stopped there a few times on drive from AZ to OK and vise versa. Big lake in the middle of the beautiful New Mexico deesert.
An amazing park. We camped here and really enjoyed it. Its well worth your trip. Bring plenty of food and water. There are no stores close by.
Great park for a short visit. Worst showers in the state park system. Water is always cold.
Very relaxing ..if you like to be outdoor it is your kind of place to pull up a chair and even sit in the water
Fantastic Bass Fishing
Santa Rosa is a beautiful place with many lakes and lots to do. Great places to eat, fishing, camping, swimming, and picnic. They also have The Billy Kid Bike Rally in September . Great place to take your family.
Just ok ... don't know if I would Camp there
Barking dogs early morning & evening, annoying
We were able to get a great campsite extremely last minute the Friday before the 4th of July. It was close to the water spigot, bathrooms and playground. There was a great little hiking trail down to the lake where we saw jack rabbits and some deer which was really exciting for the kids. We were on our way through moving to a new state and there was enough parking room for our 26' mobing van towing another car plus two more vehicles at our campsite with no issues. The camp hoast was very welcoming and friendly. The only downside was the family of 6 skunks that went running through camp at dinnertime, haha!!!
Nice state park with a big lake. We went kayaking one day, but pretty windy most of the time. Campground has very unlevel sites.
Really nice park and close to town rangers were helpful.
Very nice park, crowded due to the good lake access.
This is a fun place for the family and friends to go and swim or even elax
Only stayed 1 night, a state park with all hookups. Beautiful view of Lake.
great place for family n friends
Good desert location. Better price
Nice, clean park. Beautiful lake. We camped here in a 5th wheel.
Had the place to myself and was nice without others noise. Good place for a picnic.
Very nice boat ramp. Fishing was pretty good
Nice & clean. Larger lake than expexted! Lots of camping areas with and without electricity.
Water level was amazing, great nature trails with beautiful wildlife and sceneries.
Fishing was slow and kept snagging on weeds n rocks. Other wise it was okay
Awesome lake . pretty water
Quite. Nice state park. Cheap at $14/night. Some sites are pull through. Some are back inside. Some have just electric and no water, some have both. Some have none. Level. And great views!
Lovely campground. Well run. Both the hosts and the ranger do a great job!
Lovely little clean lake. Great for paddleboarding. Only $5 and no hassle.
The park is beautiful. The showers are cold and you cannot adjust temp at all. No camp map. The ranger station EA's noir occupied and we arrived around 3 in the afternoon.
Pretty views but the water looked really brown. My dog enjoyed the trails.
Site A10: We are 45 foot (Class C and towed). A second rig could have fit in the pullover site. Electric only with picnic table and grill. No shelter or water spigot. Lake view in the distance. Next to host and bathroom. Water spigot pullover across from restroom. Dump is at the entrance to the park. Many of the sites do have water, electric, and shelters but didn't see reference on website. Very friendly and attentive hosts.
Love to go camping. Beautiful place to go with good access to lake recreation. Clean facilities; all it could use is showers on the rustic side.
I am from Chicago so this isn’t a fair rating but I definitely don’t recommend anyone who lives in states with real bodies of water to visit this place!!
Beautiful park, we camped over night in a tent, and loved it! Nice warm showers in the morning, and beautiful hiking trails down to the lake. I would definitely recommend this park if you are passing through the area.
Out of the way, beautiful view.
March 27/ 2018 Nice park and beautiful walking trail. The only thing I was dissapointed about was the fact that the showers did not work due to a broken hot water heater. It apparently has been this way for at least one month....After hiking the trail I was really looking for a hot shower.
This place is always so much fun, nice to be outdoors near the water, whether swimming, fishing, or just having a picnic, plenty of spaces to park, tables and benches, bathrooms
They charge you $5 just to go check out the place
Nice State Park. Campground $14 w/e and $10 w/o.
Shower took a while to get warm. The campground have a lot of ants but I was already cautious because of other reviews. It is a great and easy place to stop and could be 5 stars if they maintain and update the park a little.
Nice state park it was very very windy when we went but it's a pretty place we loved the lake there and the men in the visitor center were very friendly and helpful.
We love it.great family place .me and my husband and two kids come has often has possible..and rangers are very friendly...it's nice and clean...water is great...I highly recommend it...
Dates of stay: 24-25 Jan 18 Nice area, nice lake. Park is about 8 miles north of 1-40...grab all your last minute essentials before leaving the city of Santa Rosa. Went during off season, so the only area open for RV/Trailer camping was Rocky Point Loop A which is all electric. If you don't use or need electric, you are somewhat forced to pay extra $$$ for a spot with electric. Primitive camping at Los Tanos is also open...not a drive up to your spot and set up, this area is where you park and walk into tent campsite (50-75 feet walk). No ground level fire rings in Rocky Point (or any other camp area from what I saw). Your campfire goes into a pedestal style (waist-level) rectangle charcoal grill designed to cook food...I've never seen a park without a ground-level fire rings. This is a deal breaker for me, I like campfires at night and won't be back to this particular state park. Most all of pictures included in this post is from Rocky Point Loop A.
Great park! Clean, nice amenities. Watch for skunks. The skunks didn't bother us, but they did eat the spilled dog food and tried to raid our trash.
I had an amazing time. The water is nice and cool. The bathrooms are clean. Park rangers are always around!
Nice wide huge lake
We only stayed for one night but it was a nice clean campground. We weren't able to make it to the lake but it's beautiful there. Great walking paths.
Scenic, quiet and some nice short trails.
Cold, cold showers I've been staying there off & on for 3 yrs. Showers are always down for service or cold. I went to the truck stop & paid $13. If not for the showers this would be a 5star stop.
The young folk found MeowWolf fun
Seems to be a place where people stay for a night or two on the way to anywhere else. Among the electric hookup sites, water spigots are placed randomly, some at campsites, some between, too far away to connect. Sites are really crowded together in some areas, and most of the pull throughs are reservation only. Sites in the electric area aren't cleaned, dried dog poop everywhere, along with goatheads. Restrooms are dirty and full of spiders and hanging webs. Showers open to a common dressing area, with only a curtain separating it from the restroom. Not all sites have a shade ramada, but the ones that do, LEAK when it rains, so belongings on the table get soaked. Park staff was running a weed eater at 8:30 a.m. too close to campers, and a flung rock broke a window on a big 5th wheel. Park ranger did paperwork and referred campers to a repair shop... Still could have been avoided. Not impressed with this park. Don't intend to return.
It is a beautiful park with a few campsites and a boat launch. As for the park rangers there was not a single person for us to talk to and we called multiple time through out the day and they never answered the phone.
Good place reserve a spot only 14 buck elct its clean make sure you pay
Such a beautiful, clean place. The water level has been way low for years though or I would give it a 5
Stayed one night. Was very nice. Clean bathrooms. Easy access to RV sites.
Cool. Got caught in hail stoem. Which was refreshing.
Great park. Lake water levels not constant. Erratic wireless service. Close to town.
Well maintained area and the lookout area is beautiful. Not to far from town and you can get SOME cell service at the park.
Really a nice park, not all campgrounds are open, so check there website
Water level is going down. Prepare for at least one boat inspection.
Pretty good walleye fishing
I going to honest. And tell ya all that I did not like. Maybe because it was windy, kind of dirty and not good for bathing or deeping yourself in it. But maybe some other time it will be the greatest.
Crowded...out dated campsites.
Santa Rosa Lake State Park is a beautiful camping area. Great hiking trails. Quiet park, no heavy traffic. Highly recommend this park for hiking, bird watching ( there are bluebirds, crows, robins, chickadees, and more.
What a fun place for all ages!!
NICE AREA AND GOOD TRAILS
Has the best fishing. Rock bluffs amazing.
Hot, loud and miserable camping...no water and no working bathri.
This is a great place to go near Santa Rosa. The Army Engineer Corp face is a nice key chain with a pocket knife attachment. There is a quick trail that takes you to the shoreline along the lake. Our dog loved swimming and sniffing the new smells of New Mexico. There are other scenic trails and an Overlook area to get a better view of the dam and lake.
Very well kept up enjoy the beautiful drive today
Every time I have stayed here facilities have been clean by state park standards and welcoming for an overnight stay. The main issue I ran into is that even at the time of my stay there we're almost no spots open to camp and on a weekday at that. There were several loops closed that were not being utilized and would have given enough room for campers if just one more was open.
Sites aren't level. Hard to find the hosts
Awesome place
Nice park, but needs more electric/water sites.
Very quiet and serene, but not the best place for swimming; the fish bite.
Tent camped here one night while traveling through the area, and it is gorgeous! Very nice covered concrete picnic tables are provided in the non-electric sites, along with flush toilets which was very nice. The views around the campground and the dam are simply breath taking
Quiet campground adjacent to lake.
The worst camping trip EVER! Ingested with sugar ants, flies, tree bugs and goodness knows what the heck the others were
Great little lake. Unfortunately due to water release, the lake is very low.
Clean quiet. Nice host. No hot water for showers at this time.
Great place to camp. So beautiful
All of the NM state parks seem to be a great value. The water in the showers could stand to be a bit warmer.
Hard to get to, but nice.
Stayed here both on way to CA and on the way back. Electric sites on weekend require a reservation.
The Lake and campgrounds were really nice good clean bathrooms but I felt like the can areas were a little too close together. But I will definitely go back.
Great stay, water, electric, dump on the way out.
This park is ok where we parked was the electric sites very tight together and most quite short only a handful for a larger rv.
$10 for water and power hookups in a nice setting.
Great peaceful place with nice views of the lake, public restrooms and water fountains.
Beautiful. No hot water in the showers. With as many people that stay there and as well funded as it is, that shouldn’t be something that goes unfixed for months.
Very nice... only problem is the restrooms need to be clean often. And the rangers need to do something with the damm jet ski issue. They get way to close to shore and is annoying specially when people is fishing. Other than that vey nice place.
Awesome camping spot and clean restrooms
The views are stunning ..the trails are great..Hot water heater broken..apparently it has been for awhile..call home depot or other box stores they have various programs for parks and communities..without water hookups the bathrooms are necessary..having them in working order isn't asking too much..which hot water is included. It is beautiful.
Wish there were more camping sites and options for camp
SR Lake is one of our favorite places to visit, sites and facilities are clean, Stoney and Patty the camp hosts are great!
Good place to have a get together.
Very beautiful lake. I would love to visit next summer:)
Such a well kept facility. Water is great Fishing was good. Had a wonderful time.
Our stay at Santa Rosa was for one night for which we made a reservation online. We arrived after hours and discovered that the reserved site had no shelter or water! This was not evident when we made the reservation. Shelter was important as the temperatures were in the 90s and we generally cook outside. Luckily, we found an empty and apparently available site with water, shelter and electricity. We moved to this spot, but could not find any means to “transfer” our reservation. No worries. We figured we’d do it the next morning. We talked to a couple of other campers that were also dismayed about reserving sites and discovering no water. They too, were driving around trying to find open sites with water and a shelter. We felt lucky! Lucky until we visited the restrooms! They were disgusting and appeared to have not been cleaned for several days. Trash covered the floor, no toilet paper or hot water and in the women’s restroom the water worked in only one sink. I hesitate to share much detail for fear of being too graphic. On the wall near the door was the “cleaning log”. If correct, the last cleaning had occurred May 2. We were there on May 10. We were up early the next morning and expected to see a park ranger. Instead, as we were about to pull out, the park host arrived. Thinking he was going to ask for payment, we shared that we had paid online, but moved for water and the shelter. He obviously did not care. He was only there to change the sign to show that the site was reserved for the upcoming night. Positives? Well, the park is really nice with the lake nearby. The sites seemed well maintained and were a decent distance apart. Would we stay there again? Probably not.
We have stayed there three times. Once in the upper area and twice down by the lake. If you don't need utilities, go on down to the bottom area.
Wow...those early morning hours and the lovely temperate weather(early! Mind you!) The birds...just lovely
Beautiful place to camp and swim
Very nice beautiful lake. Good campsites
It was a quiet nice place to stay. Had to cook in the 5th wheel instead of grilling out due to skunks. That was a bummer. For those who need electric hook up the view of the lake was way too far. I was expecting it to be closer
State park /US Army Corp of Engineers rocky point campground. Electric, pump water, shelter ,shower and flush toilet .
Beautiful park with great views. The facilities appeared well maintained. The only issue is that the management of the camping slots and scheduling or making reservations. And another addition is that it was a very busy place, if you plan to get in, you better get there early.
Beautiful views, very clean and well maintained. Extremely relaxing and quiet. Enjoyed our stay tremendously. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend. (only thing would have made it better, if horses would have been closer to campsites). Great job Santa Rosa, New Mexico. You know how to welcome your guest. We will be planning a return visit.
Peaceful lake, friendly Rangers
This is a great outdoor State Park, lots of big trails with lots of different views and so much to explore, the only downside is the reservation sites don't have water hookups, the bathrooms DO NOT HAVE HOT SHOWERS water is freezing cold, and are very unclean and outdated (broken doors and lights and mirrors) and there is No T-Mobile service and very little AT&T. However the park itself is beauitful and a lot of fun, dear just roam right up to your campsite.
It's a very nice place to go camping!
We have fun clean restrooms
Breath taking, beautiful, the view is awesome!!! Site was full of ants but other than that the whole site was SUPER CLEAN, QUIET and I WILL COME BACK and make this a stop on my trip every year!!!
Nice ACE campground that has about 24 RV sites with covered picnic tables that have water and electric along with around 24 tent camping sites. The restrooms have working h/c water showers and toilets that are acceptable. Close to the restrooms is a playground for kids. The lake is huge with a swimming area and boat launch. While there I heard that the fishing was good.
Go when it is cool if heat bothers you. We went on Labor Day. No trees and 119 temperature. Beautiful in the cooler weather, I am sure.
Awesome and peaceful bathroom's need attention all else was perfect
We stayed there 3 nights. Wed thru Friday. The water was great. Grandkids loved it. However as the sun was just starting to set here come skunks, alot of them. All night running around looking for food. It was on Friday night as the park was getting full that our neighbors thought it was cool to chase the skunks. It was obvious that the skunks were used to bad human behavior. They never sprayed. Thank goodness. It was unnerving wondering what we were going to do if they sprayed. EVERYTHING would smell and we would have had to travel home that way. Other than the skunks, the ground had alot of wild grass. It was hard to find a level space to pitch a tent. Then there were the ants. Little ants everywhere in and out of the tent, the table, and the boxes of supplies.
We always have a great time camping out here
Everyone should see this place, it's amazing.
Just a nice campground with plenty of room for each space. On nice lake.
Loved Santa Rosa. We’ve been here several times. It’s beautiful!
Our site that we had reserved was occupied. No Ranger available on Sunday afternoon to report issue to.
Lake was full had a blast!
Truly enjoyed camping here. Great place to watch a meteor shower. Can't wait to come back again.
Beautiful scenery, hard to find a spot for a camper/rv with electricity and water without reserving, and the fishing isn't the best, but it's a nice park over all
DO NOT STAY ANYWHERE IN ANY STATE PARK IN NEW MEXICO. WE LEFT A MESSAGE TO GET AN RV SPOT TO STAY OVERNIGHT COMING FROM COLORADO TO CENTRAL TEXAS. MESSAGE SAID THEY WOULD CALL BACK. IT HAD BEEN OVER TWO HOURS AND NO CALL WHEN WE ARRIVED WE GOT A VERY RUDE ANSWER SAYING THERE ARE NO SPOTS AVAILABLE AND ASKED WHY THEY DIDN'T RETURN MY CALL AND THEY SAID THEY WERE BUSY. NO APOLOGY OR NOTHING. VERY RUDE PEOPLE WORKING FOR THE STATE PARK SYSTEM IN NEW MEXICO. I WOULDN'T STAY IN ONE OF THERE PARKS IF THEY PAID ME! AT LEAST IN TEXAS YOU CAN TALK TO A LIVE PERSON AND GET ANSWERS. WE LOST TWO HOURS OF DRIVING WHICH IS VERY HARD ON MY WIFE WHO IS IN A WHEELCHAIR AND CANNOT RIDE FOR LONG HOURS AT A TIME. YOUR SYSTEM IS IN NEED OF SOME MAJOR CHANGES!!!
Great place for the family. Good fishing. Use shrimp or worms.
Santa Rosa is a beautiful place and friendly local residents .Lot to explore Good camping facilities Electric to primitive camp sites Boat dock.
Only certain sites have water
We called ahead as we were headings to AZ. Were assured our 40' fifth wheel + truck would fit in a pull thru site and that they had showers. Park was 9 miles off I-40 on a very twisted road. Even though site was a pull thru it was curved and not easy to get through because of posts on one side and bushes on other. But we were excited for a shower and hot meal. Host came to site after we'd set up to give us pay envelope and telling us there actually was no hot water but showers had warm water...so we dropped off our $14 into pay post on way to shower. Shower water wasn't even Luke warm...more like ice cold, I couldn't even get soap to suds up and decided against a shampoo. Needless to say husband wasn't happy either. If we hadn't already paid and weren't on the top of a mountain in the dark we would have pulled back out. Did end up leaving by 5 a.m. Will pay more next time and stay in private campground in Santa Rosa that we used last year. State Park was more for weekender locals by the looks of smaller units around us with all their stuff spread out. Live and learn.
Very beautiful lake. Lots of great views.
RV camp site was great with an excellant view of the lake.
This is our 2nd time RV camping here in early Spring. Nice sites, and good hiking trails especially the mile long trail that winds along the lakes edge. About half the sites have good tree cover but be careful when making reservations...only 7 of the 27 or so sites have electricity AND water. Just ask. You can also fish and boat in the lake. Caution with the gusting Spring winds both off and on Santa Rosa Lake. If you need grocery items, town is 10 miles away.
The camp sites are very clean, there is access to water, restrooms, showers and great walking trails.
Well maintained and courteous staff. Beautiful scenery. Looking forward to my next visit.
Lake and compgrounds are modest at best. Have a few unruly guest on last visit. Loud music. Generator going on even at "Quiet time" . I suggest putting up rules in both English and Spanish. Overall nice place to camp and fish.
Very clean, beautiful camp sites. Most have a spectacular water view.
We enjoyed getting a walk-up camping site with 50 amp service.
We tent camped here. The campgrounds were clean and reasonably priced. There were plenty of spaces to choose from and we mostly had the place to ourselves (we camped on a weeknight). Developed campsites are equipped with covered cement picnic tables and grills. There are fee-free primitive campsites available as well with fire rings and uncovered picnic tables. It was very quiet and peaceful at night. I would stay again.
Clean RV park had a good time.Beautiful Lake & scenery.
We arrived to find no water hookup at our assigned site but took another that was unreserved with water. Sand spurs are wicked and plentiful . Nice concrete tables and shelter at most sites. Beautiful water view. In the 60s this morning!
Beautiful Lake!
Great facilities, we had a great time. Restrooms were clean, showers were nice.
Nice lake .
Great place for it all, boating fishing, swimming or just camping and hanging by the lake
Myself and my families first time camping. Very clean. Friendly ppl. We loved it and will be coming back later this summer.
Great fishing nice area but the camping area with electric and water are very small. If you have a large trailer and boat you will not fit in these spaces, your better off camping in the primitive area and bringing a generator.
Great and clean place. Nice people. We arrived pretty late but still got a place for our car to sleep in. First come first serve - the earlier you get there, the better place you get. 10$ are a really good price. The lake is really pretty and good for a swim.
Fun to get wet and splash around in. Fishing kinda sucked but kids had fun!
We had a great weekend
