We've got the opinions of real people who consume the services and products of Guadalupe Mountains National Park (Park) around New Mexico area.
Now this business gets a rating of 4.7 out of 5 and this rating was based on 1342 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is practically the highest, and it is founded on a large number of scores, so we can be quite sure that the valuation is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are pleased with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to set tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Park is included in the category of National park.
Great place to go hiking in Texas. On a good 5 day hike, you can catch five of the six highest peaks in Texas. Sitting on the cliffside on Bush Mountain watching the sunset is amazing. I took this photo a couple of while flying over range.
Took the trail to Devil's Hall. Let me say. I'm not an avid hiker (out of shape), but gave this a go. They're not kidding about taking a gallon of water, you'll need it! All their trails are well marked and start out easy to find. Devil's Hall was quite the challenge for a novice like me but well worth it. Staff are really helpful too.
My husband and I wanted to take our daughter to the top of Texas for her 1st birthday and so we did. We hiked to the peak with our daughter and let me tell you, it's not for the weak! We took many breaks and boy was it the prettiest view we ever did see! My suggestion is to leave long before the sun comes up, well prepared with water and head lamps as we did that way you're not hiking in 102 degrees in the heat of the summer! Great experience over all and camping was beautiful! Wonderful star gazing experience!
Out of the way park, but well worth doing a few hikes here. The park slideshow is noteworthy because the pictures and narration are from the 70s so it serves as an interesting piece of cultural history as well as an informed explanation of physical geohistory
If you like nature and wildlife?? This is a cool place to visit!!
Spent 4 days here with a group. The views from the trails were amazing. It is really nice coming out and enjoying time with friends! The facilities are well maintained and the trail maps were easy to follow. Definitely going to go back!
I like the mountain here. It's a picture perfect setting. Looks like a painted scene.
GMNP has some great hiking trails, and the geology and views are awesome!
Wilderness Waiting to be Explored! Guadalupe Mountains National Park protects the world's most extensive Permian fossil reef, the four highest peaks in Texas, an environmentally diverse collection of flora and fauna, and the stories of lives shaped through conflict, cooperation and survival. Come experience mountains and canyons, desert and dunes, night skies and spectacular vistas within a place unlike any other within the NPS.
Great adventure, take plenty of water on all the trails!
Great place to go hiking in Texas. On a good 5 day hike, you can catch five of the six highest peaks in Texas. Sitting on the cliffside on Bush Mountain watching the sunset is amazing. I took this photo a couple of while flying over range.
This was a fun hike, my first ever! From Odessa, it was a full day adventure. Left Odessa about 9:30 am, stopped in Van Horn to eat lunch, then spent 3 hours on the hike. The hike itself can be strenuous if you aren't used to this kind of thing, half of it is not on a trail at all, but in a drive river bed with lots of rocks. So you blaze your own trail, climbing over boulders! I'm definitely going back and trying out the other trails.
Paid $7 went in June, go early because the sun burns. There was water little flow it hasn't rained much. We went up to the cabin looked really nice. A lot of shade when you get there.
The isolation and scenery is amazing.
Great for serious hikers, which we are not. Pleasant mile walk outside of small visitors center.
Slightly disappointing. The air quality was so low from pollution that it irritated my throat and made visibility low. The summit was an easy hike. Fun for trail running.
Beautiful park with friendly/helpful staff
Great views but hot in July. Bring lots of water.
Excellent. One the beautiful overlooks i've ever been to. My recommandation.
Looks like a nice place to see but couldn't get in due to government shut down. Website said it was open with limited services. Drove there, and found it was totally closed, had a locked gate across the enterence.
It's a thought walk but it's a beautiful view and to be in contact with nature, it's amazing!
This park was very well taken care of and had a nice campground at Pine Springs, with easy access to trails. The Guadalupe peak trail had great views, but some of the less traveled trails, like McKittrick Canyon, provided a great experience with fewer crowds.
Absolutely gorgeous! Glad we made a pit stop here
This is an awesome park with 80 miles of hiking trails. It also has the highest mountain in TX, over 8,000' high. There is a visitor center at Pine Springs with a camp ground located nearby. There is another CG on the north side of this part. There are tent and RV sites available at both. Please use the GMNP website for more information.
Beautiful sight. We took the Frijole trail to the spring. It took us almost 2 hours and was about a 2 mile hike. We stopped many times along the way to take pictures as the view was magnificent. The most beautiful part was the change in terrain as we got closer to the mountain spring. We plan to go back to explore more hiking trails.
Beautiful picturesque and a place to get away from the daily grind. LOVED it! Dad and I are going to go back as often as we can. Thanks for an enjoyable visit you very special park rangers...bless you!
My family enjoyed hiking Mckittrick canyon, a hidden gem amidst the dry west Texas landscape. We hiked the trail when temperatures were in the mid 80's, and I would think twice about hiking it when the temperatures are warmer than that. The trails were well marked, although much of the hiking is on loose gravel, so be prepared for that. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the facilities we're clean and we'll kept. I am looking forward to hiking some of the other trails in the park, although not during the heat if summer.
Beautiful, arid mountain. Not well known (yet) and is absolutely with visiting!
Highest point in Texas. Beautiful...very rewarding once you reach the top...but be ready to work for it.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Hiked to peak one day and devils hall another day. Both moderate to strenuous and really worth the effort. Got a great workout and tested my abilities. Beautiful boulders and changing topography and environments as you hike up. Views are incredible.
The devil's hall is a easy (not for wheelchairs) hiking trail with beautiful rock formations.
Amazing views from the summit of Guadalupe Peak. Definitely worth the 3 hr hike to the top.
Wow! Friendly and accommodating staff. Very educational and interesting. Dont miss this gem in the desert!
This particular park is incredibly delightful! It's the best location when you need to come with the kids, you can also go with your friends. I usually only take a modest trip alone here alone. The surroundings as well as the scenery is decent to be around, and then it helps me to thoroughly clean my head.
Out of the way, but worth the trip! Beautiful mountains and a knowledgeable ranger staff!
Absolutely loved this National Park. We camped and hiked Guadalupe Mountain which for us was challenging because we aren’t in shape. With that said we made it to the top and signed our names in the book. We had an amazing time and the stars at night are the brightest and most abundant we have ever seen. As tired as you will be after a long day of hiking and really should make time for star gazing at night.
I can't deny is a great place, the service is excellent, facilities clean, and you have ranger giving you advices, why not 5 stars, it needs a better signaling as is easy to get confused on the switchbacks, as we did. At some points we hesitate which way to go. Other than that is super recommended, they do not have showers at the campground.
Great place. Get he early if you want a campsite. Slept in the car the first night cause all sites were taken by the time we arrived. Great view and awesome hike to the top.
Wish we could have been able to camp here. It was foggy when we stopped by and weren't able to see the mountains up close. Luckily the fog cleared out as we were driving away and the peaks showed up
Beautiful area, far enough away from interstates and cities to be very quiet and peaceful. I can only hope it stays just like it is.
Awesome park!!! We did the Devils hall hike. It was great. Not too difficult but you do have to do some scrambaling up big rocks. The vegetation is really cool on the first half of the trail. After that you drop down in to a street bed until you climb a "stairway" and end up in a tight canyon. We would love to spend more time there in the furture.
Love this park! Car campground is always crowded but the Backcountry sites usually have availability. Mckittrick Canyon is hands down my most favorite place in Texas!
Another beautiful creation nature. You can enjoy it driving by, or even better pulling off the road no one of the designated parking areas and appreciating some nature by yourself, or with your family.
Wish we had more time, but it was really too hot to go too far anyway. There was a great ranger that we talked to for quite a while. Very nice experience.
My husband and I wanted to take our daughter to the top of Texas for her 1st birthday and so we did. We hiked to the peak with our daughter and let me tell you, it's not for the weak! We took many breaks and boy was it the prettiest view we ever did see! Great experience over all and camping was beautiful! Wonderful star gazing experience!
Beautiful, watch out for random afternoon rainstorms.
The campgrounds are great in the morning and evening but I wouldn't recommend being there at midday as there is little tree coverage and the sun was overbearing. When they say you need a gallon of water per person you better believe it!
Loved the view as we came up from the south. Visitors center was nice enjoyed our little hike
Awesome place to visit.
Beautiful park! Super remote and isolated. Great campsites at Pine Canyon... even in August, it gets (mostly) cool enough to be comfortable at night. If you’re hiking, bring more water than you think you will need, especially in the summer. Watch out for snakes and other wildlife (we saw many snakes, a bear, and heard a mountain lion). Clean facilities (running water toilets and dishwashing sink at the campground and visitor centers) and super nice park staff. There are no showers in the park but you can drive to Whites City and pay $3 for a shower there... worth it after hiking 11 miles in 100 degrees. Enjoy this beautifully rugged and remote park!
I LOVE this place. As a National Park, I don't believe it gets as much love as it should. This place is isolated, pristine and unpopulated. At Guadalupe, you'll find an abundance of solitude, quiet and scenic beauty. I saw a couple of deer and a large herd of desert bighorn. The trails in the park are well maintained and easy to follow. The campground is first come basis but there's plenty of sites. I personally loved the staff. Super friendly and you get the sense they too, love the place.
I came here to check off a goal for 2019 which was to hike the Guadalupe Peak, I got to the National Park at night and stayed overnight and then started the hike in the morning and without a doubt, this is something that I would loved to do again and camp closer to the peak at the campsite up there. This is an amazing National Park and one that everyone should visit. The views from the top are like none other in Texas.
Great hike to Guadalupe peak about 8.2 miles round trip.
Very funny I happened to swing by on the windiest day of the year. Took a short hike because the wind was tossing me around. Very very beautiful place, if anyone has the chance to hike the mountains/explore I would do so or you will regret it.
Great trail despite being steep in parts and very rocky. You definitely want to be in decent shape and not afraid of heights. Trekking poles are your friend. Took 2 hours, 45 minutes to reach the summit and 2 hours to come back down. Strenuous but doable.
Amazing gorgeous place. Just drove through but will never forget how beautiful this place is. Want to visit again!
It was ok. They don't even have decent 1 or 2 hour hiking trails near the visitors center and the Ranch museum was closed because of the trees, but the trees looked fine to me and all the other visitors that were there.
Yes! Go now, don't wait! One more National Park checked off the list and this one did not disappoint. Great park for hikers and bird watchers!!! Plenty of trails. Tent camping sites are close together, RV sites are in a parking lot with no hookups. I don't see this place being a long term camping destination. Get in.... Hike the peak.... Move on. Arrive early to get a spot. We arrived early Friday afternoon and had to park and wait around (about 2 hours) for a spot. We saw lots of campers drive through and leave but we were determined and patient. Site 15 was nice!! Met so many nice campers from all over. Not sure we would visit again but definitely recommend for anyone.
Absolutely loved it ❤️
Amazing hike. Probably nothing else in Texas to compare it to. Put this on your bucket list. Just a heads up though. Very limited camping spots available. So dont show up at last minute like I did and expect a spot. However if you do there are 2 spots up the road but they fill up to. If you dont want to risk it stay in Carlsbad and commute in the morning if the hike.
A great hidden gem in West Texas! Plenty of good, tough trails leading to sweeping views and even a pine Forest bowl! Parking can be a bit limited, so arrive early.
Great hike to the peak.
This was were I went in 2015 for my first solo hiking/backing trip. Had a blast! Also great to visit if you love long drives
An awesome trail
It's amazing how the sites change once you start hiking into the mountains. I definitely recommend going in late October! The fall colors are beautiful.
Really beautiful area of Texas. I was able to finally fulfil my lifelong dream of becoming a senior ranger. I really enjoyed hiking throughout the park. We were able to see baby javelinas from our campsite! Certainly underrated national park
Great service and food.
We had a good time we drove the 4x4 trial have to ask for a key and have to have 4x4 and decent clearance. It was pretty hard core for a truck full of kids but ower truck is a good adventure machine. We had so much fun took a while to make the trail. It's only 9 miles long but took us about 2.5 hours to get threw it one way.
Another place worth visiting, plan to spend at least half a day. Bring a sled, or you can buy them at the visitor center. Highly recommend it. Santa
Always a great view when passing by. The staff at the visitor center is friendly and helpful. The hocking trails are also beautiful.
Beautiful park! Super remote and isolated. Great campsites at Pine Canyon... even in August, it gets (mostly) cool enough to be comfortable at night. I loves the view from the top of the mountain. Camping is limited though so make sure you get there at the right time. Trail is strenuous like it says on the website.

Beautiful clean Unforgettable
If you like to hike, then this is a nice park to visit.
Reminder, this park is best for hiking.
Tallest mountains in Texas. Good hiking available. Highly recommend.
Awesome national park. Haven't had a chance to climb to one if the peaks here but that would be a nice hiking experience.
I came here to check off a goal for 2019 which was to hike the Guadalupe Peak, I got to the National Park at night and stayed overnight and then started the hike in the morning and without a doubt, this is something that I would loved to do again and camp closer to the peak at the campsite up there. Such a beautiful place to spend a few days hiking! Definitely an under rated National park. There are hiking trails for all levels, even if you only have a couple of hours to spend here. Pretty easy drive to Carlsbad from the park if you prefer not to camp.
Good trails, interesting history. Bring water & sun protection. Good birding while we were there.
Hiked here last week, beautiful!!
Mostly you need to hike. Almost no paved road inside the park.
Absolutely loved the park Devil's hall is a must see very beautiful! The campgrounds are great in the morning and evening but I wouldn't recommend being there at midday as there is little tree coverage and the sun was overbearing. When they say you need a gallon of water per person you better believe it!
Well maintained trails and stunning views. The hikes can be especially strenuous in the summer, but are well worth it.
Lots to see if you like hiking. The big deal is that the sharp above the road is the remains of a tropical reef from over 200 million years ago. Most of the trails are pretty strenuous. The reef is pretty steep above the Visitor Center. There are a few more gentle ones, and it's worth a stop just to check out the film and the displays in the VC. Lots of good info on the geology. They also have really dark nights there for some good star gazing. Summer is very hot, so spring and fall are nicer for hikes.
A well maintained and staffed park for it's size. Great ranger building. Good site when you hike in, but it is a desert, and as such you have to pack all water. I'm not a fan of that heavy backpacking, and the dry air and bright sun made it a less than excellent experience. Those are mostly personal preference though, so if you're nearby and don't mind, a good NP to visit.
The hicke to the peak is very strenuous and demanding. Start early with snacks and lots of water. Also wear proper shoes.
If you're looking for a peaceful place to hide away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Guadalupe Mountains is your place. Walking along the trail while also watching the breathtaking views of the mountain ranges can be a treat to your eyes. Don't forget to educate yourself about the value of the different plants like red berry juniper, yucca, claret-cup cactus, aloe vera and many other plants.
Great hike! Take at least a gallon of fluids (Gatorade?) and wear long sleeves/pants for sun protection. Good luck!
Great for trail running
Just beautiful. Fun to stop and have a picnic at one of the rest stops overlooking the beautiful landscape.
I have made the hike to the top of Texas. The trail to the top is 4.5 miles long and almost 3000 feet up from the trail head. If you are in good backpacking shape and plan plenty of water (1.5 gallons per person) it is a great day hike challenge. if you are not confident or in a physical shape for that level of trail please choose wisely. I like to believe i am in decent physical shape and the round trip took 6 hours with 30 minutes rest at the top and 2, 20 minute breaks along the way and i finished off my 1.5 gallons of water as we started the last mile to the parking lot. The peak is also 20 to maybe up to 30 degrees colder than the trail head. As the hike to the top is a strenuous climb it was near to 55 degrees on top with a breeze and the trailhead was in the upper 80s in early May. Good Luck, the view was worth every step. I plan to do this trek again this fall.
We had very little time to get around the park but driving around El Capitan at sunset was great. It's the highest point in Texas and reflected the colors of the sunset on it's White Rock beautiful. It is an old coral reef why up there !
Visitor Center a bit outdated, but great Backcountry and hiking. We lucked out and missed the high winds this spring. A lot of things we're still closed in late March, they need more funding to hire folks to maintain and keep services open.
Beautiful mountains great experience
AWESOME PLACE! You can hike and enjoy the scenery. When and if you get to the summit, you can view as far as the eye can see as well see what the native American Indians saw. It is the highest peak in Texas as well as being the southern tip of the Carlsbad Caverns.
Fantastic park that is striving to keep things minimal. Bring lots of water and food, it's out in the middle of no where. Well worth the stop! Lots of back country hiking or shorter trips to the spring.
Amazing park. Making it to the top of Texas is quite an accomplishment. We had mechanical issues with our bus and they let us stay for the night. Very friendly, understanding and knowledgeable rangers.
Remote and beautiful! Every great view must be earned in arguable the best national park in the country!
AWESOME PLACE! You can hike and enjoy the scenery. When and if you get to the summit, you can view as far as the eye can see as well see what the native American Indians saw. It is the highest peak in Texas as well as being the southern tip of the Carlsbad Caverns.
Fantastic Park. Hiked devil's trail. 5* because it was awesome and the idiot a few reviews below me gave a park 1* because of the shut down. I went during the shut down and it was open...
It was wicked hot here, but the rangers were nice and knowledgeable. They have awesome hiking trails, but I’m afraid I got there too late to try one so I will have to go back.
Awesome trails, good historical stuff & fossils
Beautiful rugged country. Guadalupe Peak - the highest point in Texas. A strenuous hike but well worth it.
Guadalupe Mountains National Park offers a chance for the kids to get a junior Ranger badge. The Visitor Center is small compared to some that we've been in. But it's still worth the visit. The Rangers on duty here were exceptionally nice to the kids. The short hike from The Visitor Center over to the Butterfield Overland Trail Station kids only 3/4 of a mile round trip and it was interesting to learn about some of the history of the area. Unfortunately the weather did not permit us to go up to the peak but it was still fun.
Beautiful national park. Not crowded. The fall colors were just starting and many of the hikes were just gorgeous. Enjoyed climbing to the top and looking out over Texas at the tallest peak! Beautiful sunrise and sunset photography spots. Great options for night photography as well. Lots to see and do. Easy to incorporate a drive to Carlsbad caverns as well.
The mountains are beautiful. They have a wonderful view.
Took a day and a ton of water but we climbes to the top and had some good camping for a few days.
Great for hiking camping or just going to see a beautiful view unbelievably beautiful at night
Great piece of history and awesome hiking trails.
Beautiful. Our daughter climbed a mountain here!!!
We came here to hike up Guadalupe peak. We're 54 and 58 we jog 3 to 4 miles a day and found this hike to be fairly challenging but quite doable. It's 8 miles to the summit and back, the first mile and half is by far the hardest. We took only 3 regular size water bottles each which is less than half the recommended 1 gallon per person, if we had it to do over again we would have taken 4 bottles each but we never felt dehydrated. We took a lot of breaks on the way up and it took us 4 hours to reach the summit and less than 3 hours coming down. The trail is well marked and we had good cell phone service pretty much the entire time. Make sure you wear good comfortable shoes (we wore good jogging shoes which were fine). We found the hike up fairly exhausting but coming down was way easier.
Great park to visit with famiy.
Great place to hike. If you like a challenge go from Pine Springs via Tejas trail to Bush Mountain. Better plan on camping.
Awesome hiking experience. Bring plenty of water and start early.
Very beautiful setting. Great park staff, friendly and helpful. Well run with reasonable rules that seemed fairly enforced. Fantastic hiking. It was too windy to do the big peak, but we did hike up to Devil’s Hall. Great hike! A few things to be prepared for: - RV camping is literally a large parking space in a lot. No hookups at all. - first come first serve. There were spaces where our 40’ rig would fit. Not sure about much bigger. Lot is tight and a little tough to maneuver. All spaces were gone by about 3 or 4 on a Tuesday. Plan accordingly. - Be prepared for very strong winds. Some people were uncomfortable in their tent camper. I can understand why. We actually brought in our slide outs overnight because the covers were taking a beating. - no one seemed to mind generators running. Quiet time was 8 - 8 oh and by the way they are on mountain time! We had a great time and will definitely be back to hike the peak!
Fantastic park that is striving to keep things minimal. Bring lots of water and food, it's out in the middle of no where. Well worth the stop! Lots of back country hiking or shorter trips to the spring.
It was super good. And it also was great to know that you had climbed the highest mountain in Texas
Limited parking, so get there before 11am, or you'll have to pay, then drive half a mile down the road to park, and walk back. Has restrooms, and converted picnic areas. The water is frigid, and there's a lot of alge, so be prepared for that with water shoes that have grip on them, towels and/or a way to stay warmer. But it's beautiful and fun to walk around and take pictures and hike the little trails. The volunteers were nice, and the place was pet friendly.
Astounding views everywhere.
I am sure it has beautiful hikes. We were there in a thunderstorm so, hiking was out of the question. No roads to drive around and see any scenery
Amazing views from atop the peak! Guadalupe peak was a challenging hike, but totally worth it! The trails are very well maintained and the staff were very helpful and informative. Guadalupe peak trail provides some amazing photo opportunities along the way. Be sure to bring lots of water, and trekking poles always help, especially on the way down! Highly recommend taking a trip to the top of Texas! Enjoy!
Beautiful place to hike! The Peak is tough but well worth it!
Beautiful views from the freeway. You enjoy it more if you are not driving.
The hike to Guadalupe peak is fantastic but due the high elevation it really helps if you can acclimate for a few days before you make it.
Hiked up Guadalupe peak. Most intense hike of my life but you have the best view of texas.
Alway enjoy the cenery
4 trails three of them 10 to 15 Miles and one short four Mile trail. Lots of Rocks sky
Do yourself a favor and listen to the rangers. This hike is no joke. It's steep and rocky and when you think you should be there you aren't even close. Take LOTS of water & rain gear. If it's hot out you are going to be exposed most of the time. It was very hot when I started then turned to thunder, lighting and hail in minutes and did that repeatedly. Most of the day hikers I saw coming down were wiped out by the rain and had run out of water. The next day it was windy and low clouds, then very hot by the time I got to the bottom. It was still worth every bit of it, just be prepared.
The trail to Guadalupe peak is very rocky with a lot of switchbacks. Wear good hiking boots, take lots of water and give yourself at least 4 hours up and 4 hours back. The campground for overnight is about 1 mile from the top. This is a strenuous hike up as well as down, but we'll worth it!!!
Great scenery. Lot's of hiking trails to choose from. Really worth driving to. These photo's are from the camping grounds just as a storm system was moving in.
One thing we did not realize when we were planning to visit, is the fact that it is Mountain Time, meaning if you are from Texas there will be a time change! Be sure you plan accordingly. I definitely don't recommend visiting in July as we did, it was pretty brutal! The hike itself was amazing! Be sure you take plenty of water. It is definitely a strenuous hike! Lots of people stopping multiple times along the way up and down, so don't be afraid to take breaks as needed. A minimum of 1 gallon of water per person is recommended. I also highly recommend some type of electrolyte to add to your water. And be cautious as the elevation change may affect you in an adverse way! Just make sure you pay attention to what your body is telling you. Beautiful views! I definitely think it is a hike everyone should challenge themselves to complete! I also highly recommend walking sticks if you have them. I believe this really helped us with the stability as well as the incline. Sunscreen is important, as there are many areas where you are extremely exposed. I would also use some pretty good bug spray, lots of different kinds of flies! Our Garmin watches show the trail to be a tad bit longer than what is listed on the map. It is pretty close to 4.5 miles up! There is no shade at the very top. Parking is pretty limited at the trailhead. Based on our hiking experience we thought it would take us about 5 hours, but we arrived back to our vehicle after 6 hours and 45 minutes... But it was hell hot!
The most beautiful place in Texas.
Most beautiful nature site for rock climbing and star gazing
We had a rewarding and challenging hike up to Guadelupe Peak. It was well worth the effort. Bring plenty of water as there is none along the trail.
Great hiking and great views. Was a bit warm @ 93 degrees. Smith spring was a beautiful oasis spot to relax too.
Not only is the park amazing but the rangers both employed and volunteers were extremely nice and helpful when we had some car problems at the visitor center. Definitely hike to the top for amazing views!
We hiked the trail to devil's hall and it wasn't too difficult though part of it is along the creek bed so you need to climb over rocks. There were kids along the trail as well. The hike from the devil's hall trail to the Guadalupe trail has nice views and is less steep than the trail straight up to the Guadalupe trail. It let's you see the view without having to go all the way to the top which is another 3 hours. Definitely worth going. I wouldn't recommend it for kids as it's very narrow at parts with a steep drop.
Pretty National Park. We stopped at the Visitor’s Station. The Rangers were friendly and helpful. The Pinery Butterfield Stage Stop are original ruins (ruins being the operative word). You can see the Pinery Butterfield Stage Stop a short walk from Route 62. About 4 miles down Route 62 from the Stage Stop is a wonderful view of El Capitan.
Food and atmosphere were good. Service was on point as well. Will I ever again pay 25 bucks for 2 tacos de asada with beans and rice? Nope. Lmao, 4stars for the experience though, I'll make my own food next time haha
Not the most well known but my god the beauty. A hikers paradise, incredible vistas, good facilities. Far from civilization and the better for it.
Only for rugged backpackers, not day hikers
Nice place to park when THERE'S A NewYears white out near
Beautiful desert area that you can camp.
Great place to hike and camp.
Great park! Pines Springs Campground and trailhead are well cared for, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Great trails I hiked are to Devils Hall and to Guadalupe Peak. DH is a moderate hike up a genuine river wash. Lots of geological features. G-Peak is an advanced hike, very strenuous both up and down. Excellent views along the trail and from the peak, including seeing the 'back side' of El Capitan of Texas. Very cool!
This particular park is truly nice! It's the perfect place so that you come with the spouse and kids, you can also go along with your friends. I normally simply take a modest walk on my own here by myself. The surroundings as well as the landscape is decent to be around, and it also helps me to clear my thoughts.
Beautiful place a must see if you have not close to Carlsbad caverns
Real nice trip from El Paso, lots of hiking (80 mi), they have primitive camping in a parking lot, the vistors center has all the needed maps and other tourist items.
I took the while hike up the trail to the top. 11.8 miles to and fro, 1800 m elevation, 26000 steps from my pedometer. It was NOT easy but the view up top was worth it. The one thing that made me nervous about the hike, aside from the incline, were the narrow ledges in lots of places. I'm glad I made it but I don't know if I would do it again. Glad I have pictures to commemorate the moment.
Beautiful place to be.only if u are in shape.
Not offer of the great national parks but interesting.
Been dreaming of making the hike to the highest point in Texas for some time. Finally made it yesterday. The hike is very strenuous but the sights are breathtaking. Overall a wonderful experience. Start very early in day to complete so you can come back down before sunset. Wearing layers is key in winter and carry enough food and water. At the same time pack light. The gate was closed at the entrance because of the government shut down but visitors were allowed in.
The Swiss Matterhorn similar experience to BECOME ABSORBED IN on the "Texas Mountain Trail"! SUPER IMPRESSIVE even only driving by on US-180 between El Paso, TX & Carlsbad, NM! The Weather Band sometimes warns of turbulence for airplanes, it's so high & prominent! As with all the other TEXAS PROUD & SUPER STYLISH REST AREAS they have one there, too! Just be AWARE of DANGEROUS HIGH WINDS (70mph+) at times! NO JOKE!!
Very beautiful place to hike. Multiple trails, will definitely be back.
First time at the park. The terrain reminded of big bend. I camped overnight at Guadalupe Mountains campsite with spectacular views. The hike to Guadalupe peak is challenging and it was really windy. There is no water source anywhere in the park according to park rangers. So bring plenty of water. I did find some water near devil's Hall but it was really contaminated. I was disappointed at night time when I saw lights from oil drilling. Such a shame that there is so much pollution now. But overall the park is great with not so much visitors.
Hiked Guadalupe Peak. The parking was not real clear what was for camping and what was for day use. Bathrooms were relatively clean on a busy weekend.
Most challenging backpacking in Texas from an elevation standpoint. Take 1 gal water per day. Don't attempt to carry weight without some previous backpacking experience.
Hiked the Smith spring trail, nice Oasis to take a break on the trail
This unique place is certainly delightful! It really is the optimal place in which to take the children, you can also go together with classmates and friends. I usually only take a modest hike on my own here by myself. The environment as well as the landscape is nice to be around, and yes it even allows for me to freshen my thoughts.
Great staff, Super freindly thank you.
I'd love to eventually hit all the trails, and maybe camp
One of the prettiest/ most underrated parks in the country. All trails are harder 5+ miles. Geared towards the more adventurous among us. If hiking hard and getting away from crowds is your thing, come here. It's better than you expect it will be. Promise.
The location is beautiful, but it is far from anywhere so make sure that you go provisioned. No quick resupplies!
