This Park is classified in the category of National park.
Nice state park. Good for hiking and kayaking or rafting. There is a small beach as well.
Great place just to walk in the forest or by the river. Quiet, peaceful and unspoiled.
If you are in the area it's a must see. There's many things to do for all ages. Beautiful and enjoying. First day it didn't rain so we finally got to see the beauty of the area.
Stopped here for a hike. Definitely a place I will revisit so many things to see and do around the area. The waterfalls are awesome wasnt ro crowded and there was plenty of parking
Good trails & plenty of falls to see, however they need bigger parking lots. Only at Ding man's Falls was there a ranger directing traffic
The red dot trail up to the summit and the blue trail down to the waterfall is a family favorite for all ages.
Just unbelievable scenery to take in. Hit up the different waterfalls closer to the PA and DE border. Bushkill Falls, Dingman falls, and others.
This little adventure was fun and I didn't get stung or bitten by anything! Loved going inside where they have stuffed animals and many things to learn about. First time I ever saw an eagle's nest! Wow!
Unbelievable experience at PEEC and the Delaware Water Gap National Park... If you have the opportunity to share it with friends, family, and community your life will be forever changed. Respect nature, enjoy the challenge, and plan many trips... Fishing is world class and canoe expeditions are epic!
Great place for family camping, get a river site if you can. We had a woods site, 131 but it was close to the river. The only complaint we had was that the campsites are WAY too close together. There is no privacy or solitude. You can hear the whispered conversations if your neighbor. Or in our case, the snores of our neighbors! However, the bathroom situation was perfect (nice portapotty) and the river is stunning. We took our 3 year old camping here and she had a blast.
Great! We went to Raymondskill Falls and explored the premise. Nice place!
Beautiful beautiful place. We climbed the mountain, caught sightings (I'm guessing they were eagles) of birds at the peak. Breathtaking sights. Got a taste of the water (a little too cold at the time haha). Did i mention beautiful?
Beautiful Falls (actually 2) in a National Park with no fees.
I drive through the state park everyday. Today the rangers helped me catch a stranded rooster. I can't make this up. Great guys....the rooster thanks you too he is living happily ever after on a farm with chickens as a pet instead of foxes, owls and eagles as their dinner.
Large park with many trails and lots of options for activities such as rafting or biking. Parking areas could be small though so it's best to arrive at the park as early as possible.
Beautiful nature reservation with a ton of trails including the Appalachian trail. Some of the hiking can get pretty tough with lots of rocky areas and steep inclines. Once you get to some of the peeks you'll be treated to a beautiful 360 view of the area.
It's absolutely the best. It has everything you would want on your hike, and the views are spectacular
An easy walk to see the falls. A more vigorous hike up stairs if you want to see the top of the falls.
Great place for a trail, but be careful of snakes. We did 20 miles and saw 3 snakes one of them was poison for sure.
Very tranquil and peaceful place. A great rest stop and hiking area.
If you love the outdoors for hiking, river activities, having fun time at resorts, visiting waterfalls, this is the place to be!
Beautiful recreation area. This was my first time visiting. The waterfalls are worth the walk.
It was amazing tour from Philadelphia by car 84 miles. Trial has a color sign and a lot of steps. I met too many people on Sunday afternoon (teenagers, couples, old persons with dogs). Yeah, fog and 100% humidity little bit made difficulties but smell and hiking (sometimes climbing) were unforgettable. Have enjoy said me one happy pair and it's true! I did!! You do the same!!!
Absolutely great experience. Parking can be difficult so be wary of that however there are 2 lots. Very very Rocky climb so be extra careful. Overall took roughly 3.5 hours with plenty of breaks and lunch at the top. Did the red trail up blue one down.
Visitors Center is great. The hike is challenging. Not for beginners. Please take water. I didn't and boy am I sorry.
Water falls galore!!! My wife and I had a great time hiking around the water falls in the park. Some were very easy to access while others were more challenging. That said my wife who doesn't do too well with steps down was able to enjoy all the falls we visited. Maybe with a bit sore knees afterward.
Great places for trails and site seeing. The education center is also very helpful. Great advice.
Perfect extended weekend getaway. We went there for our July 4th weekend with our friends. We stayed in a very nice place deep in the woods at Pocono Ranch Lands. We hiked on the Bushkill Falls trail. It was awesome. Finally we concluded our trip with Kayaking on the Delaware river for 6 miles.
Beautiful stroll through the woods, but the visitor center was closed on a weekday. ☹️
Beautiful and peaceful place for 1 day hiking. Follow the red trail to top of mount Tammany and blue trail back down. U can see waterfall while on blue trail back down. Total hiking time is approx. 4:30 hrs.
Beautiful place. Great trails and scenery. I would def go back here and spend all day here.
Beautiful area ... Especially this time of year... Changing leaves, nice brisk air ... Oooo i love it!
Don't ever come here. There is trash everywhere and is extremely dangerous to even get there because there are so many trees down. People openly pee into the water upstream and dump coals into it as well. It isnt even worth it once you get there.
A sweet area with tons of trails and lots of views! Although maybe bigger signs for each trail.
Walked a little of the Applician trail. My nephew rafted on the river. Nice casual restaurant in Delaware Water Gap with good pizza. Outfitter had lots on rafts and canoes for rent. A beautiful day in the woods! Great way to spend a day.
Definitely worth visiting. But to see everything you should have a lot of time
An amazing place that I've been going to for over 50 years. Many hiking trails for people of all abilities. Numerous attractions if you take the time to explore.
The beauty of nature is manifest here. The Delaware River is framed by the rolling hills of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Great recreation area in the Poconos. Scenic beauty. Hiking trails. Great drives. Many nice accomodations in the area and tons of decent restaurants. Peaceful. Quiet. Contemplative. Get close to nature ... And let nature get close to you. If you live the country, and nature, you can not help but enjoy this area.
I wasn't able to walk far because it was evening by the time I got there, but I definitely want to go again in the future so I can walk farther. Beautiful and a wide path that is fairly even and easy to walk on. (At least as far as I got, which wasn't very far. Will update my review when I revisit.)
Great place to get away from city very clean wheel chair accessible to fall but if children keep in mind no toilets were theres running water more like outhouse type bathroom great bird watching area .
A beautiful tranquil place to visit along the 20 mile trail.
Great view great spot. Definitely an essential in this area would go again.
Great views. Weather was nice. An the water was beautiful as well.
I just passed through the area but once you get north of the commercial area its beautiful. There are bike paths, hiking trails & canoeing
This is an excellent and lovely alternative to the freeway when traveling from Boston to Suburban DC.
Nice place to stay but could use some updates, like the rest of the poconos
Lots of little beaches to post up on. Had a great time
Fantastic time ..and the wildlife was all around...Eagles and Deer..
Pocono nature is great just remember to take out what you bring in just because we can see NJ don't mean we want to be NJ
Spent four days and three nights kayaking down the river. Amazing trip Lots of primitive camp sites along the way Fishing is good Water and scenery is wonderful Saw black bear, osprey, a bunch of bald eagles and a lot of other wild life A few notes if youre going to over night kayak... - bring water or water purifiers. Youre not going to have access to drinking water - as always pennsylvania wants to soak up as much of your money as possible. Its $10 per day to leave a vehicle at milford. Cost us 80 to leave our two vehicles for the trip -try and get off the water early. Lots of groups get launched by outfitters. We paddled by a group of over 50 being put in. And then had to stay ahead of them to get a camp site. Some places its miles between camping locations. Last thing you want is getting to sites and them already occupied. Get a place by 3 or 4. -bring a shovel. You gotta dig your own toilet in most places
Enjoy nature. It's very beautiful and has lots of unpaved roads.
Beautiful little walk to a smallish waterfall. There is also an information Center and small gift shop. Only explored one section They have a camping area also.
This is part of Appalachian trail that starts from Georgia, we trekked 5 miles and it was surreal.
Again another beautiful hiking spot to enjoy some cool and fresh air. The trek is difficult and very rocky. I got almost tired while reaching the top but the view took my breath away. During the trail also you can enjoy some breathtaking views and click pictures but be careful while taking photos over the mountains. Best way to spend your weekend. Very limited parking area and its free. While coming down back you can relax and dip your tired legs in cool n freezing waterfall. A must do trek for people with some trekking experience.
There is a "toll" at the entrance, but it is only $1, so bring some quarters! The park is beautiful and well kept. We went to Pocono Education Center to park and go on the Tumbling Waters Trail, which according to one of the workers, is the most popular. It wasn't as water-filled as some other hikes I had done, but it still had cool views. There are stairs down which lead to the waterfall -- we almost passed by but some fellow hikers told us to go down. Good thing we did because that's the main attraction! The first half was more intense, but not too bad. And the second half was relaxing through fields/woods. Talk to one of the guides in the Center to see which entrance you should take. The trail is very well marked with orange squares painted on like every few trees, I never felt lost or worried. There is also a map you can get with a 50 cent donation, which is worth an ease of mind. We also noticed some "Emergency Access Trails" that branched off, which I'm assuming is for park guides to come in an emergency, or for you to exit in an emergency, which is nice that it exists :) Tumbling Waters took us a little less than 2 hrs. Budget in 2 hours for breaks and exploring :)
Great place. I encourage people to learn leave no trace, since so many people visit here. It's important to preserve it, every effort made picking up litter to storing food properly benefits us all. That being said. Mcdade bike trail is great. It's wide path, gravel, non aggressive trail so hybrids and rigid frames are fine. River offers many put ins and take outs, plenty of canoe/raft/kayak rental services to choose from. Edge of the woods is a great one to go through. Apart from leave no trace, do not try to swim from one side of the river and back. This is how most people drown here. Easily preventable. Also if you bring in it, bring it out. Pack your trash out. It's an easy to garner a lot of respect from strangers to rangers.
Amazing & very pretty hike. 1.5 miles one way, to the top. It has very beautiful views at middle & also at the top its breathtaking. Very much tiring because there is hardly actual trail its all rocks. Elevation is about 1359 ft. Very steel climb. Parking is limited & free. Be careful there could be rattle snakes. There is a small spot at the edge from where the views can be enjoyed more. You need 1.5-2 hrs to climb if you are quick then may be 1 or less. Alot of spiders
Its wonderful to visit this place finding some time on weekend. Although it was not well maintained but still it was good to be there and to watch out this small waterfall. You cant go near to water as its not allowed. The place do not have food hub so if you want to stay here for long time carry food items. Its partially wheel chair accessible but if possible avoid. Have fun.
it upsets me that so much corn is grown in this "national recreation area", and others say that forest rangers are overzealous, but i thought the whole area was gorgeous, and i had a great, albeit chilly, weekend exploring the area. we saw beautiful waterfalls, cooked by the river, had a wonderful time camping, and are at an excellent cafe. i would absolutely love to go again.
Had a great time kayaking down this river. Just have to watch out for rocks !! Can not wait to come back !!
Beautiful. Lots to do fishing, camping, hiking, swimming, raft, etc. Lots of history and great little towns.
Beautiful area! We wish the rangers and visitor centers were more available on a Sunday.
It's an awesome place to be with nature and dip your toe in water.
Really great trails, which were really challenging to run. I'm quite used to run trails, but this was extremely rocky and wit a lot of elevation. A good challenge and the summit of Mt Tammany was really nice.
One of the most visited parks. I happen to live near by and travel through the park daily. My family and I have many wonderful memories in the park. One of our favorite things to do is canoeing and kayaking the river from Milford to Bushkill.
Always fun and if you're looking for National Park passport stamps, you can get your book stamped here! Many hiking trails and thanks to the many visitors, it's kept clean of trash! Always a returning visitor here while in the area!
Rent a kayak, or go rafting but spend the day on the water. You won't regret it! We never do!!
So much wildlife to see even though it's a highly used area. Love the shuttle service and the beautiful McDade trail.
Gorgeous outdoors. Be sure to spend some time in the river.
Very good trail with red dots. Make sure to visit Khan's Mongolian Grill after the hike for a meal you won't forget.
Spectacular waterfalls, great hike, with several other things todo at this place....make it must to visit.....highly recommend it
A great camping location. Good facilities but I do wish they did a better job of getting the poison ivy out of the sites and away from the paths. Yes I know that's it's the outdoors and a park but just be in the lookout. Quiet and clean. No electric or water at the sites but there is a central location to charge and wash dishes. You can bring in your own wood but wood can be had for $5 for about 5 pieces. Enough for making s'mores! There is hiking nearby but bring any fun toys as there are not easy rentals that we found.
Great zone for canoe rides. Peaceful with shallow zone and deeper one. If you get lucky you could see a bald eagle.
We really loved the buttermilk falls. First, we thought that we have to hike to see the actual falls, but surprisingly the road took us just on the side of it. If you are planning to do the hiking, spoiler alert, it takes you to the appalachian trail(woods trail) bit no overlook. Unless you plan to go to the near by lake then you can take it. But we loved the workout anyway.
We weren't impressed at all. The campground was basically a dump and not managed well. Too expensive for what it is. We hiked a little and it might be a bit better in the summer but I won't go back! Clean up the campground!!!!
This is my local go to place for hiking, photography, waterfalls, scenery, and the river. With a little exploring you can see how it could be a national park.
Very nice place to visit. Some very cool water falls, and some easy to hike vistas, if you know how to read map. Very diverse wildlife
Always a fun adventure to be outside talking with strangers from all over and making new friends. STAY SAFE!
This is great place to spend a day or a few days. There are plenty of stuff to do, from hiking, biking, canoeing, you name it. Lots of wilderness and wildlife.
Great hiking, both along the AT and along other trails. We've only seen a small percentage of the park and are looking forward to seeing more.
Great hiking trails , the maps from the park office are easy to read. Awesome views on the trail that goes to the top over the highway !
really nice place you're able to walk and just take in all the scenery and they do have an elevated stairs that you can go further up to the falls really nice place
This place is wonderfull, if you enjoy nature and want to get away from everything there are lots of places to do it here. Lots of hiking trails along with waterfalls, vistas and even some animals spotted here and there.
Tom's Creek Trails, would recommend this trail for anyone out for a walk in the woods, most of the trail is in the shade making for an easy hike but plenty of bugs
Other than the stupid amount of pot hole dodging you have to do its a great park to visit. Avoid the popular spots near the entrance, they are always over crowded. Go for the trails further up the mountain
An awesome place to hangout or hike for a day.
Great outdoors. Great hiking with amazing views
The whole area is great if you're interested in the outdoors.
Such a variety. Hiking, boating, views, waterfalls. Could use a place to eat or pick up food but amazing place to visit
Great falls. Easy walk to the bottom many steps to the top. All on a boardwalk.
Very scenic.Deleware River very relaxing. Also found a great micro-brewery
Awesome for hiking and biking in the various trails here. Great water falls to see.
It's so beautiful and a good place to camp
A great place to visit please be well prepared carry the right gear appropriate shoes and know how to read a paper map that you have with you
Had such a great time here. Went hiking with some friends! If you have a free day, I would highly recommending spending some time here!
Awesome place to hike and be in nature!!! Love it!! Not far from my cabin!!!
Great national park. Dingmans falls is a very nice easy walk on board walk. If your up for 300 steps to the top of the falls I'd highly recommend it. Great place to check out
Great Recreational Place for hiking, trekking and Waterfalls view. Bushkill falls, the Best !
Nice hiking trails. Red Dot & Blue Dot Trails go to the top of Mount Tammany. Fantastic view of the Water Gap! Other option are the AT to Dunfield Gorge (short walk) or continue on AT to Sunfish Pond (long walk). Get map at Park office for more derails.
Great trail for hooking on the New Jersey side.
Great overall place to hike with well labeled trails and a challenge for everyone.
So beautiful and peaceful. You get the feeling you are in another world. The waterfall is all natural are my photo.
Great area for a road trip!! Hikers paradise, nice trail system, and Lots of secret gems!! A number of waterfalls, plenty of quiet and easy to find trails away from people!! Be prepared some of the trails are difficult!! Overall, a pretty place to visit! Highly recommend staying in this area for a nice relaxing weekend getaway!!
This is a long, a very long section of laid stollen by the government from private citizens. The plan was to build a damn and this area would be flooded. After millions of dollars were spent. A quick review of the plan revealed the plan was junk, bad, not feasible. Now you can go walk around the stolen lands and see old buildings and lives damaged by the every loving, good intentioned crooks. Thousands of arches lay fallow where dreams where born. Enjoy....
Very beautiful, nice camping, canoeing. Close to NYC. Close to interstate (loud truck noise).
It's beautiful... And the rangers we're very helpful
I always enjoy hiking here. Parking is easy and after the first mile the crowd thinks out. Nice views and well kept trails.
I Love nature, the hiking trails is tuff but is manageable.
Run to the top at blairstown Mohican outdoor center. 25 minutes walk to the top
Peaceful place natures beautiful water ways and habitat let's keep it that way.
Awesome recreation area. Very nice staff . Beautiful location :)
Decent bike trails but with rough gravel. Glad I was on my fat tire bike.
I did a loop that took me past buttermilk falls and around Crater Lake. It was a really nice trail. The beginning part of the trail is pretty steep, but after the first mile it's not too bad. Anyone that's in moderately good health would be fine.
Great place to go on some easier hikes and relax and enjoy a nice day
The falls are nice, and there is no charge. However the bathrooms have a horrible smell and if the wind shifts you can really smell the odor.
Park headquarters was very informative and of course rangers always a wealth of information. They gave us info for hikes that were age appropriate info for our family. We got our passports stamped there as well.
Dingmans falls area. Beautiful falls, nice walkway to get to the viewing area, about a half mile flat walk. I'm pretty sure handicapped accessable. There's also a stairway to get to the top viewing area, but pretty serious climb. With it as well. There's another lovely thin falls you will pass on the way to dingmans, very scenic as well. Lovely to see in the fall.
Love the scenery here! Great to visit any time of year. Always lots to do.
beautiful place to go visit and workout because there is steep areas
Great activities throughout. Hiking swimming canoeing and more
So beautiful and peaceful!! I grew up in NJ and currently live in Maine. It was nice to just relax and be home!!
Such a beautifully wild and alive place. Watch your step on the trails there are frogs/toads all over! Be sure to ask/research your trails before heading out because some trails are not exactly clear or still in existence.
Great views. Great location for hiking. Free parking. Free site to visit. Other activities like canoeing is also available with local companies for a charge. There are also waterfalls in the area, less than an hour away by car up Rt 209 in the PA side.
One of the best hike we've had in a while. Make sure you're there early since the lots can fill up fast. Bring plenty of water, compass in case you take a less trodden path and a whistle in case you come across something dangerous (there have been a few bear sitings recently). Most importantly, have a great time!
Went for hike to Dinghman Falls. Easy hike and lovely falls. Lots od hikes available in the area.
The hike up to Mt. Tammany was short but pleasant. I took the red trail up and the blue trail down. The blue trail is a lot easier & features a waterfall but I’d recommend doing both sides for the full experience.
Beautiful area, very scenic with so much to do. Hiking, biking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, and more
A spot you must see. Walking trails, easy and hard so everyone has something to do. Get back to nature and enjoy the water falls, and trails. Easy to hard it's your choice as to what you choose. Beautiful, clean, and maintained by the state. Don't miss it!!
I must admit, that I was disappointed. Either I haven’t been at the right spot (which I doubt, as there was a sign) or it is not that worth for a long stop. It could be different, if you take a long hike in this area.
Great weather, fantastic homes; blue skies by day and nice cool evenings.
Good for those seeking a strenuous hike. 2000+ feet of elevation gain and a 11 Mike trail. Pretty scenary but many of the paths are Rocky.
Nice easy trail, with a few options for more intense ones. Beautiful scenery, but quite busy on Saturday mornings.
Stunning beauty of nature very dramatic mountain formation to trek through and spend a full day here. Wonderful
My boyfriend and I went here for the first time together to go for a hike. So much natural beauty to explore. Definitely recommend!
There are no bathrooms here. Just so you know. Pretty lovely area though, some cool waterfalls and stuff.
Fun, 3 different paths to choose from, easy hike to beautiful waterfall, different observation spits for selfies.
Peaceful and serene . there are a set of stair that lead you to the top of the waterfall, however once you get to the top you lose sight of the waterfall and all you can hear is the water.
Great place to bring the kids to get away from TV and video games. The great outdoors.
Very beautiful place to visit any time of the year. Mountain,River, lush green landscape, and wildlife. Hiking, canoeing, and many other outdoor family things to do. Or take it all in by yourself. I love it.
Absolutely beautiful area. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a chance to get away from the noise of the city/suburbs for a bit and reconnect with the nature of your being. Lots to see in a large area.
Very well marked trails, very clean and there's an educational area at the entrance.
We stopped here on our way from NJ to PA for the week for a hike. Got to the first parking lot and no spots. Went to the second and found last spot. Porta Potty was one of the worst I have ever seen but we made a pit stop before hiking. Rather than following a colored trail we decided to stay along the small stream which was flowing nicely with all of the rain. What a good choice and we saw so many water fall and the sound of the stream was so nice. Yes there were a few wet shoes but so worth it. We did end up on some official patches and I wish we had more time time to continue to the lake but we needed to turn around after about 3 miles as we needed to be somewhere. We will definitely be coming back.
It's beautiful. Bushkill falls. Appalachian trail. Tourist traps. Pie and a hot dog for $2.95. Carroll and Carroll books in Stroudsburg. Good times.
A great place to hike! You can make it a half day or full day. I took my dog, who is very well trained and hiked her for a total of 4 hours off leash. Just be respectful of other hikers and you will be fine. Highly recommend for outdoor lovers looking for a peaceful getaway.
Great paddling, hiking, biking, camping. Well maintained and mostly free.
Best of nature you can get . So much to do
Great hiking trails both in pa and nj for every type of hiker! Spending a day or even over night on the river is an awesome experience. Wish there were better/more opportunities for camping. A memorable experience during any season!
Kinda hard to find your way around but does have some amazing views
Dingmans Falls has always been a favorite place for a safe and beautiful nature walk. Bring your camera..The falls are wonderful..
The waterfalls were beautiful. Lots of trails....too many to do in one day! Thank you to the park associate who helped us find the best places to go. You know who you are
Absolutely beautiful place to hike. Three main options starting from the Kittatiny area are the creek, sunfish pond, and My. Tammany. All can be easily made into loops. Easy to choose a hike at whatever length or difficulty you're looking for. On this trip, no maps were available, so I recommend photographing the map at the trailhead or bringing your own.
Always a great place. Hiking the trails can be a little difficult. You need to be sure footed and take your time.
Great place to hike. No one bothers you
Don't recommend to go with small children. Is good for couples is a very long hike it's totally beautiful and you can disconnect from internet to have a nice date. Lots of stairs recomend to have a backpack with water to stay hydrated
It was a beautiful place when i was born on a farm just up from the dingmans bridge on the Jersey side. 99 acre farm, horses chickens, pigs, pastures . Now it's over grown with vines, invasive Russian olives and is unrecognizable. Mine is just one story of over 15000 families whose land was taken to build NYC a reservoir for water. I say give it back to the American Indians we took it from to begin with. Imagine that.. our country took it from them, sold it to us and then took it back.... whose the Indian giver?
Well maintained trails. Great views and great hiking. We took the dog as well and had no problems!
Such a national treasure! We've been here three times on vacation, and have a new adventure every time. Whether you want a mountain biking experience, hiking, or whitewater rafting, this place had it all, and many of these are free if you have your own equipment! There's still so much we haven't done, so we'll be back.
