Here you will see all the feddbacks of people who purchased the services and products of Bass River State Forest (Park) in New Jersey area.
As of day the business gets a rating of 4.5 over 5 and that score has been based on 1019 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is virtually the highest, and it's based on a very large number of scores, so we may say that the score is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they are satisfied, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to place tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Park is classified in the category of National forest.
The area itself is nice. We are regular campers and usually go to another camp site. We decided to go last minute and decided to say in Jersey this time. We were please with the scenary at first. Not even done unloading the car, my boyfriend got a tick on him. Five seconds later I have one on my leg. This is like tick heaven. Highly recommend to not come with a pet. Our pet got bit... Let's just say the vet bill is still being paid. BEWARE OF TICKS. ITS ALWAYS THEIR SEASON HERE APPARENTLY.
Nice park, clean with fresh water swimming. Need more capacity, too many times people are turned away because the park is full. Don't have a convenient dumpster for day trippers so the yellow garbage bags are thrown on neighboring streets and businesses.
Camping at its best !
We had a very nice time. It was very interesting.
The security guard only allows you to swim in certain part of the water
Very good place
Love it, such a great park!!
Very cool place offers camping lakes and trails.
A great place to visit!
I got eaten by a bear.
Nice area for the weekend family campground activities.
Good food good service
It was very clean and had a lot of camp sites. We were there to check out where we wanted to camp, and it was late June. We were only there for 2 hours and we had 6 tickets on us each. It was a shame too, because they have clean facilities, showers, fresh water everywhere, good swimming beach, and every site comes with a combo fire pit and bbq.
Nice, organized and clean but lacks trash bins.
Hard Rock Hotel AC NJ. Bret Michael's 11/8 Awesome show as usual.
Beautiful place. Come visit
Very nice camp sites ,nice lake to swim in ,cheap price for campsite ,nearby places for fishing boating ,boat rental places
Beautiful place to take a walk and relax plus beautiful butterfly garden
Go during the week. Avoid the bathrooms
Beautiful natural pinelands
Great camp ground and trails. Nice lake/beach.
State police have nothing better to do on a hot day a give seat belt tickets out.
The bathrooms are dirty. The bathrooms look like that have not been washed within a month. The showers do not work properly. The security drives down the road more than 15 miles an hour. There are not that many hiking trails for nature. The front desk lady was very nice, friendly and very helpful.
Loved it! shelters/cabins are far-ish from each other which gave us more privacy. I loved the idea of the cabin diary. It was awesome. Would have given them 5 stars but I'm not a fan of their pest control. There were wasps next to the shelter and it took them a day to come deal with it and there was a mouse in the cabin when we moved in.
The bathrooms/bathhouses are dirty. The showers are not up to par. It's so out dated. The lake is where certain people go to bathe I guess.
Friendly and courteous staff, park security is present, bathrooms with showers, great for a couple , family, or just a few friends getting together. They offer everything from tent sites, lean to, or cabin's.
I grew up there and spent 35 years of my life there. Spacious and serene, a lot to do, but blessedly spaced out, so you need to be okay with a lot of scenic driving. Make sure you stop at the farm stands!
The scenery was very beautiful and quiet. Of course it was early on the morning.
Really great state forest. The pipeline folks need to stay out of the pine barrens, it will ruin it.
Very nice place to take the kids and plan events at
Fantastic clean little park that have great renting accommodations. We stayed here because it was a close and cheap location to the beach. The campground was very clean and beautiful. Will be returning for future weekend getaways
Favorite place for a hike in the woods
Beautiful place for a day of relaxing with your family and friends..
Absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Staff is wonderful and professional. I have not stayed there but plan to soon. Cabins, lean to's have fireplaces and tent sites have ample room inside and out.
Great beach day use area. The lake is clean and clear and the beach is awesome! Great for younger kids. Most of the swimming area is shallow. On weekends there is a nature program run a few times a day for kids to learn about aquatic plants and wildlife. Lifeguards on duty do an excellent job patrolling through all angles of the swimming area. Campsites were clean, well marked and had ample space for the family. Will definitely be back for another adventure!
Cleanest and clearest swimming area in South Jersey. You would have to swim in a pool or at a Caribbean beach to get clearer water. Safety is definitely a priority there and can be appreciated. Plenty of public bathrooms and even a separate shower house. During their business hours they have food for sale, and almost anything you might have forgotten for your grill or festivity’s-being deep in the woods that’s a smart and convenient amenity. Love love love this place
Extremely thankful! The park is impecable, beautiful and is has all you need, would 100% recommend, the park has garbage bags so all your garbage could be taken care of by yourself, I loved that, FAVORITE park in so far in Atlantic county, big thank you to the staff park, LOVE NATURE.
Great for camping or just spending the day! Haven’t been here in years and just went recently. I had a blast. It’s perfect for family and friends, even your pets !
Peaceful friendly
The Pinelands of NJ are my Happy place right around the corner.
Nature at it's best. Plenty to do for the outdoor lovers
Pretty place. Only drive through
Beautiful place to explore
Beatifull
Best time ever we all had a great time
Best place to camp.
Beautifully secluded. Wonderful place to camp.
Nice n free
Not as good of a stay like usual. Bathrooms was not cleaned properly or daily☹️
Nice and peaceful
Well as you may know. I'll give 5 stars to any forest in this state or any in any state in this beautiful country, if you don't agree, LEAVE, hey just because some of our past leaders and other politicians may be sketchy, we still have some outstanding places to visit and support, I hope to see ya out there one day, enjoy it, it is so beautiful, so go soak it in and take it with you
My family is camping in this park for more than 10 years and we like it! Highly recommend for all nature lovers! You can swim in the lake, go for a hike, go for a bicycle ride, or just relax outside your cabin!
Beautiful park
Ok for quick stop but they have starbucks
sunset over mulica river
I went there for my first time today. I was ready to write a 5 star review as the waters are clean&clear and there was a cute lady working there. But I being a man had to use the restroom .a mans restroom should be the thrown room! Clean and ready for the glories he is about to produce. But when I walked in. The tiles are gross in the showers. Then I saw the thrown. This toilet was covered in poop the floor was covered also. It was as if dumb and dumber 2 was filmed in this restroom just not chocolate but the real thing. I had to go. And the lifeguards just blew the whistle so in the lake wasnt gonna happen. I wasnt going in the woods as the gorgeous lady that worked for the state park police probably would have caught me and I didnt want to sacrifice and possibility of a me and her. Though I wouldnt get up the courage to talk to her anyway. She worked for the police she was already very intimidating. So I braced the bathroom stall. Stood bare foot and leaned against the wall. I cleaned up myself and left. Thank you I will come back! But not to use the bathroom.
I LOVE IT, it's clean again just a good way to spend your Summer
Nice place to camping
I highly recommend this place for family fun... Are whole church congregation usually goes labor day and we always have a blast. Just FYI you have to be ready to sit in line because the park is very limited. We usually get there around 7 a.m. and they're always dozens of cars waiting in line before us.
Camping is good .swimming I dont recommend in weekends too crowded.
Great place and clean. Lol, Wawa is not that far from it.....for a great cup of coffee!
Great park, love the trails and the lake! Always clean and a good experience!
Bass river is a nice place to bring your family. That's what I did today. The beach is ideal. Their were a lot of people there but it wasn't over crowded. Lake Absegami is crystal clear. It is also shallow. The beach is well maintained and clean. The trails are also quite nice. There's a snack bar good enough for a quick bite.
Wonderful camping a GREAT TIME
It is absolutely beautiful here. The trails are awesome the state employees are very kind.
Love love love this place!! Been going here for years with my family for camping trips & we look forward to going back soon.
Love it there
Nice place for family and cooking outdoor. There are grills everywhere with tables and bench included.
Loved the fall walking tour
Bass River State Forest is located in marvelous mysterious New Jersey Pinelands. I actually spend over half of my spare time there
This is a great campground. Most of the sites have a secluded feeling to them, which is nice. The nature program on the weekends are wonderful, with very knowledgeable staff. The beach area is nice too. However, if the campground showers were kept as nicely as the hiking trails this state park would get five stars. I really hope they give the shower bathrooms some attention. The handicap stall is missing tiles and the mildew is out of control. Even after the morning cleaning, there were bathroom stalls with no toilet paper. Overall, a beautiful campground that can easily be five stars if they address the bathhouse issues.
Great park with great amenities. Beware: large tick and mosquito population.. lots of bug spray recommended
This weekend was the first time that I was at Bass River State Park. It's very nice and clean. The one thing I would suggest is that if you're going to rent a lean-to get verification whether you are or are not allowed to have tents on this site as well. We had three tents on our lean-to site and we're told that we had to take them down. Thus leaving us no place to sleep and canceling our overnight plans. Other than that I thought it was really great place and we will be back.
Lovely place
Beautiful oasis full of wild life and lovely water
Bass River State Forest is an awesome place. There is a lake for swimming, it has life guards and two other sections of the lake are for fishing or to go in with a canoe. Around the same area as the lake there is a food court. Not only it's there a lake but there is campsites and cabins. ❗CAMPING PEOPLE (You'll wanna know)❗ (You have to bring your own tents and belongings for the campsites) the only thing campsites already have are the tables and the thing to burn wood in. You can buy logs or take logs out of the forest. NO cutting down a whole tree tho. Good luck on camping and be careful of the bears
Very dirty bathroom facilities.
Lots of open space, saw many different animals in just 2 days. Deer, frogs, rabbits, even a praying mantis. Watch out for ticks, had one land on my arm but I caught it. However the park management is restrictive with the swim area being very limited (closes early, everyone has to get out of the water every 20 mins). Overall good.
Great park, very clean cabin. Will be back in a few months.
My bf and I are currently camping here for our 4th time. This place has something for everyone. The south shore is great for families or groups while the north shore is more for people that want their privacy. I would recommend really looking into the site you are picking if you haven't been here before. A couple sites on the north shore (near the end of the loop near the trailer dump site) are super super tiny. We had great luck our first time and loved it so much we did some recon and made a list of the sites we preferred for our future visits. Enjoy your trip! We always do
Amazing place happy for the kids they enjoy every time we go no electricity so kids do different activities and enjoys with their friends and with us kids like to go there again and again.
Lots of life good clean air insects galore most beautiful sunrise and sunset
Always a nice walk on the trails.
Fishing , camping, hiking trails.. August is bad time for ticks.. Camping & picking up Fresh friut from the market is nice. Basto village & Galloway twp nice shopping too. Also Nice areas for Pictures too.
I started going there in my teens with my parents....30 plus years ago. I love this place so many memories. We stayed every summer all summer long for many many years. The best camp ground ever! See you soon
The staff are kind, helpful, easily contacted and knowledgeable. They clearly love their forest, lake and it's animals and enjoy guests. We stayed in cabin 1, which is a "small" cabin compared to some of the others- but it was big! Truthfully, we could have fit 12 people in the three sets of bunk beds, a few more on air mattresses in the common space, and another bed on the screened porch! The fireplace is beautiful and works well. Just beware of ticks! They're plentiful and voracious.
Pro's - The lake had kayak and paddle board rentals . Con's-The lake was very loud with different music blaring in your ear, and kids screaming as well as some adults using slang cuss words. Check in staff would not allow a minute before which is stupid its not the marriot and I just traveled almost two hours to start my vacation the shelter is sitting empty. They told me go shop at Walmart. Say what?? Then I get to the shelter the door is unlocked the locks broken, the shelter is FILTHY and loaded with bugs. The windows are broken the paint inside is peeling and the bunk bed tops were bending. The lake view was no lake view the trees and bushes covered everything. The bathrooms across from us were not cleaned all weekend, It was gross and smelly and bug infested. I understand its the woods we camp at another state parks often and they do a fantastic job. No showers in the bathrooms by the shelter had to drive two miles to another dirty bathroom . Needless to say I didn't shower for three days because it was that dirty. I didn't see one park ranger or staff come by all weekend to check up as I do in other campsites. Cabins and shelters were empty yet I couldn't book a cabin because its a 7 day min. Hello they are empty for a reason people . Try calling other parks and see how filled they are. Someone told me about this camp I will never go back. I was actually told the person who runs it refuses to fix the shelters and cabins and hire staff to clean it properly. I highly suggest they change some things or they wont have jobs to go to. The state forest we are going to this weekend is booked solid. See my point?? It would be a great place if they took care of it. Not sure where the state funds are being used. Oh by the way I left it cleaner then when I went in. This review is not to harm but to let you know something needs to be done. Check all the reviews im not the only one.
Because i love it
We will never camp here again. So dissapointing, the bathrooms were dirty and disgusting!!! You could not go out of your tent without ticks jumping on you. Awful awful place!!!
Peaceful and clean. Follow @Emperorkaioyus
Was a nice clean park. Trails are clearly marked and the bathrooms are clean. Make sure to bring plenty of tick spray. They get into everything. Will go again but will be when its cooler out. Beach was nice as well
Nice place to relax
Nice lake, just make sure to go during the week. Weekends are crazy.
It’s a nice place to spend time with the family. Come relax to spend time. I could not give the five stars for the reason that you have to spend $20 to pay to enter that is ok. But you need to take your garbage with you because they don’t have no garbage can to put the garbage in.
Bass River has nice wide flat trails. It is easy to get to
Oh.. beauty!! A well maintained state park with courteous and friendly staffs.
One of the best of best of New Jersey State parks. Great beach and large sites.
Bass River State Forest is a decent place for camping. Partially shaded campsites, restrooms & showers. It has everything you need. Beach on lake Absegami is good too. Insect repellents are a must when camping.
The Pine Barrens is an incredible area and this state forest is great. The Batona Trail starts here, which is a wonderful trail, especially for more novice backpackers since it is flat and there is plenty of water.
Fresh air
Couldn't get in it was packed but I've been here and know it's a okay lake.
Arrive at 2:30 to check into my campsite and get turned away because check in is not until 3. Return at 5 and the office is closed at 4!
The campsite was peaceful and it was wooded and pretty and it was almost like having the campgrounds to ourselves.
Great place to just relax, chill, and de-stress!!!
It's beautiful
It was so cooled and it was amazing you should go
Beautiful place ... trails are well maintained .
Even though it's only a town away it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere...I've only camped here in the winter because I like the seclusion ..very clean..restrooms and showers are still open in the winter. Rules still apply year round staff is very friendly but strict. If you have the chance to take the long hike I recommend it.. the white pine Forest is amazing.
Caught a tin of fish. Family had a awesome time.
Love Bass River. not just because i live here but so much to do camping in the forest at night you might even see the Jersey Devil he lives here in the woods and he is not afraid of people. also lots of places to canoe in the pine barons bring a canoe drop it in and go. also crabing us great. Lots to list but i have to leave some adventures to you. hope you have fun here.
Fall is best time to visit.no weekend warriors. Camping are just hanging out.
My whole love is here!
In the area and stopped by. Great place.
Great place.
Nice place but alot of bugs and ticks so beware.
One of the oldest state parks here in NJ. It is breath taking and crisp. They offer cabins, lean-tos, shelter, campsites, etc etc. All fairly priced. Many residents who live along the road to this park sell fire wood for cheap. They also have an acme less than ten minutes up the road. This is a small slice of heaven and I can't wait for my next stay.
5-16-2019 our stay of almost 2 hours was the worst. They did not and do not inform you about the wood roaches in structures. But after you get in lay down and wake not 2 hours later after cleaning it for an hour because of the spider's then lay down to sleep, your wife screams you turn on lantern and find a huge roach on her face then you see them on you right out of your sleeping bag. She gets out of hers more on her. More on floor and walls. You spend 2 hours packing shaking everything out so you don't put them in your car. You count 37 of them on walls and floor. Spoke to park ranger and left. This is not our first time camping, ive stayed at bass river before and many other nj state forrest camp grounds, i have never seen anything like this nor have i ever been told i cant have a refund because i was not told nor at any place will they inform you of this problem on web site or other and i cant get a refund thats wrong to subject a person to that without them knowing and being able to stay or not stay. We drove to bellplain and stayed the next night not one issue and told them about problem gurranteed not at bellplain "they properly clean and treat" and would refund if that ever happened at that site or would first inform people of possiable situation unlike bass river state forest service. Never again at bass river state forest campground. Thanks bass river got making out honeymoon getaway one we will always remember forever.. ............ Bass river -2 star rating.....
Tons of space at the tent camping sites, inexpensive, close to a lot of attractions.
Its a very nice place for your family theres lots of places you could go to, the lake goes up to about 6 feet (the limit), theres a store where they sell alot of products (dont open until about 11:30am) they sell toys, sunscreen, carbon, food, and many others. If youre visiting during the weekends make SURE that you get there early asap because youre going to have to get an in extremely long line (Very Long). And the lake were you can swim is open from 10 am to 6pm. Have a nice trip.
Its was okay!! Make sure to bring a lot of bug spray (A LOT$
Beautiful unspoiled pine barrens and a lake to swim in.
The state park is kept very clean and the staff is very knowledgeable. Very quiet out on the pines.
our of the world never WAS,
Great place to take the family
Pro- nice camping site, good customer service by Tony, very clean and well kept. Nice trails. Cons- no outdoor rentals, you have to bring your own bike, canoe, etc...I know I'm in the wild I shouldn't expect showers which they provide, I just wish the shower were cleaner and better lighting for the female facilities. I wish the no swimming days were not consecutive days
Very nice state park. Lots of things to do there. The beach is great.
I love it here
Great place for family and friends fun day at water and staff very friendly and helpful
Great area for camping out year round they have mini guys for the winter months and U can use tents when it's warmer.. Nice lake on the property for swimming..
Beautiful, untouched real nature. Find your self out here.
Very nice...relax nature green...
Filthy bathrooms, but great childhood memories
I just love the place
Bass River State Forest is wonderful. The lake is great in summertime, and the camping is close.
Peaceful and serene. Food place to go clear your head and escape noisy NYC.
Need more staff on weekends..
Anytime you can get away to go to the beach or just go to one of the great Parks like Bass River the area is great for fishing crabbing canoeing kayaking just sitting there enjoying the view sitting there having a picnic lunch with your wife your family these are the things that are important especially come summertime and the area is Scenic it's beautiful it's great
I love riding through the forest on my way home from work <3
Beautiful, serene ,perfect for being one with nature
A very pleasant two night stay, we left the shelter in better condition then when we arrived just wish someone would take a shop vac to the inside of the shelter there were what appeared to be two roaches, also a cup was left under the bunk, the site needed to be thoroughly raked as debris from other campers was evident also debris inside the fire ring, bathrooms were being cleaned that eve so we appreciated that, We had a beautiful view of the lake and really enjoyed our stay we took a hike on Batona trail be careful of ticks on the trails! We love Bass River State Forest when I was a kid I lived in what was then known as the KOA campground (not far from BRSF so I feel right at home in the pristine pine barrens.
It was a beautiful January day for a hike, in the low 50%, clear blue sky. We took our 3 dogs. Not many people on the trail. We hiked about 4 miles. Friendly staff at the rangers center
Love This Place Nice and Relaxin
Very disappointed the beach is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also not happy the admission fee is doubled on weekends for NJ residents.
Nice place to spent with family
Beautiful place for vacationing.
Hiked the yellow trail. It is pretty flat. Didn't see much wildlife.
They need an attitude adjustment at reservation desk. They should allow people to volunteer and cleanup the overgrown brush in campstites
Beautiful hiking trails
Great hiking, playground, and beach area. Camping is fun, and it is always clean.
Very beautiful
Boy Scout fun day for my son. Enjoyed beach.
The best......
Great place To hike
Love the hiking trails
Nice and quite please to visit a little bite of rough roads and it is free to visit
Bass River State doesn't need me or anyone else to claim it's natural beauty. Bass River is one of my favorite places on Earth. I just wish whoever is in charge of maintenance would do a better job. I reserved a shelter, which is a beutiful little cabin with a woodstove and 4 bunks. The problem is it was filthy, without being swept and mopped in what seemed to be weeks. I had to spend over an hour of wiping down mattresses and platforms along with mopping the entire floor. Again, a beutiful forest, but PEOPLE come on, clean it.
Great place to pass the day
Take you back to nature untouched
