This Park belongs to the category of State park.
Nice to see this historic park, which takes you back to peacetime in the 1800s. With a blacksmith, enameling house, carpenter's block, general store, and bakery, you can get a small feel of what it was like. There are lots of trails and green, lush ground for walks and short hikes. Recommend pants oi you go on the forest trails as there is a lot of high hrass. Go on weekends to get the full experience.
This place is beautiful and nice to bring the kids to learn history and see everything. The train ride is great and inexpensive to take the kids on! If you take you time to see everything you can spend a few hours here. Also there has usually been a food truck here to buy food. The shops has some candy and suverners to buy!! Must Visit Place!
The Allaire State Park has multiple hiking trails, several camp grounds with various accommodations, including spaces for different types of camping vehicles. Also. A living, history museum which includes 13 historic buildings on their original sites dating to 1750 through 1840. Volunteers interpret the buildings most weekends and (in season May to September) Wednesdays through Sundays.
Nice trails, bike-free sections, a little extra to entertain kids (can't rate that since I don't have any). Can get crowded depending on the season and events, so plan accordingly.
Amazing historical site. Great family place. Romantic couples place. Always clean
Nice location. Campsites are little close together but beggars can't be choosers. Nice sites in a wooded area. Close proximity to park activities, bike paths and the beaches.
We were there on Sunday afternoon on 10/6 and the girl who was working in the bakery was rude and could care less about her job or the customers. She spent the whole time on her phone - a real piece of work.
Nice park. Historical buildings, railroad
Little kid friendly! We camped in a shelter. Was a newer shelter, pretty clean, as they go. Shelter 11 has no mount of raise floor under the wood stove, other camps had this and was helpful for the kids so they had a boundary. Playground was older but still in decent shape less the swings for kids to play. Bathrooms were also tidy and very well stocked, unlike other state park we have visited. Note park office is a mile past campground on right side of road. Lots of trails, we did 2 shorter trails because of rainy weather. Not all the trails are at the camp ground and require driving too. If you camp at the front of the camp area you will hear 95, but further into camp ground didnt notice as much.
Great park, nice campgrounds. Well kept. Very quiet during the week. Faint sounds of the highway nearby. More like "white noise". Pleasant. Camped in June
Great place for hiking, picnics and just relaxing in nature.
Great place to go enjoy everything they offer as well as the Scavenger hunt to get your badge.
This park has a massive amount of history and literally has the nicest people working at each spot like the general store which is a little gift shop. They have amazing events here as well, there's something for every age group to do here and you truly feel like you are going back in time when your here. Some times they have vintage baseball leagues play like they did in the 1800s.
Love this the train ride was so much fun
Fun and relaxing also great flea market with most unique items
Great place to walk a dog or take a hike.
You should definitely check out the historic village at the state park. A hidden gem. The colonial Williamsburg of New Jersey.
Village is very nice and the actors/workers are very believable and informative
Great place to bring the family. Staff is great and a lot of history.
Great craft show, needs more vendors...
Great place to go to get away from it all. Trails galore . Animal friendly . A secret in our own back yard.
We love camping here and spending the day at the beach
Beautiful park that's heavily wooded with mostly pine trees. Trails we're narrow but for the most part flat. I enjoyed the blue trail which takes you though most of the forest (trail starts at the bottom of the park off Hospital road). Came here in the off season with my dog and it wasn't too crowded, but be alert for people mountain biking through the trails.
Me and my family love this place. We visit as often as we can. The staff is always pleasant except for one gentleman who works in the wood carvings shop, he is not kid friendly at all. The staff is also very knowledgeable of the history of the Village. They offer many different experiences through the year and we try to attend as many as we can. My wife and I got married in the Historic Church on the property built in the 1800's. This is an exceptionally beautiful chapel.
Beautiful place to visit. Great place to take pictures. Flea markets always are fun.
Went on weekdays, really quiet and peaceful. Great spot for camping but we could hear the circulation, didnt bother me during the night as it's king of a white noise.
Love to come here they have great events.
So so beautiful!! We loved the historical atmosphere and the landmarks in this park. It was absolutely breathtaking!!
A great place to visit and enjoy!
The best part of howell
It was a fun school trip i loved it i enjoyed it all
This is a great place for camping. Our group used a campsite and one of the cottages. We had 4 men in the bunks and it slept just fine. The campground has a nice quiet family feel and is patrolled by local police regularly. The sites have fire rings that you can cook over and also a separate grill for charcoal cooking. Bathrooms and showers were fairly clean and well lit. Overall a good experience and would reccomend
I Love this park so much both for its historical and natural beauty. FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!!
Very nice park with lots of history. The church can be rented for wedding. There are a lot of events at this time of year, fall/winter.
Most amazing place to mountain bike in Monmouth county
One of my favourite places to visit ever. The park is beautiful with plenty of nature to see, and the historic village is so lovely with plenty of friendly and knowledgeable staff. The gift shop always has interesting things, and the interpreters are such fun to interact with.
A park unlike any other
Love walking through allaire....takes you back on time. Great seasonal events!
Trails for all skill levels!
Having just gotten into mountain biking, I'm glad allaire is a local trail for me! Miles and miles of fun descents and challenging climbs! I've been here plenty of times and have yet to ride all the trails.
If you want to get closer to the nature this is your chance. I was amazed with this park and wanted to be here for longer but my kids won't allowing me. But I believe I will escape here again. History, wood, picnic - all my favorites here. Enjoy!
Enjoying a beautiful Sunday after Church taking a Train Ride.
Loved Allaire State Park, the village and its history has something appealing for every age, the trails and train are not to be missed!
i recommend going for a walk but i wouldn't attend another event....i thought it was a waste of money, the staff at one of the festival's were very rude and only cared about talking to each other
Great park, nice campground. Friendly rangers and staff in the office.
A lot of cool stuff to see it took us about 2 to 3 hours to walk around everywhere.
good for camping. a definite must. very family oriented and I had alot of fun.
Mixed forest (pines, sand). Plenty of trails, map is recommended.
Super fun place to ride and explore.
Has ticks unfortunately, but the disc golf course is neat and wooded trails are cool.
Visited for a school class trip. It was fun to take a walk back into.history to see how things were done many years ago and to see how life was for people who lived/ worked there .
Great place, but it needed more signage. It's got a great historical area with a lot of original buildings, but we didn't realize in time to fully enjoy it.
It was "okay" because i only viewed it from the interstate while doing 80 mph. However, i can honestly say that i would definitely pass it at 80 mph again.
Great quite place for hiking biking and running.
We like historical spots and it's good to hear they do their best to main accurate, authentic details.
I was photographing the wedding there and the Chapel was beautiful and people were wonderful.
I found a frog and held it but I did put it back don't worry
Great place to trout fish and explore. Very secluded. Great for hiking.
I was a little confused on finding the Brisbane trail, but I ended up taking the capital to coast trail which was a lovely walk. This trail slowly Cascades into what I noted was a green trail which is shared by bikers. Use a little caution and have fun, beautiful views all around.
So fun hiking with friends. Beware though... some trail markings need improvement
My sister got married in the little church in the park. I love this park and so does my entire family great place for family outings
Such a beautiful place with really good sized bays. Very convenient near the interstates. Fairly basic provision but so nice under the trees. Only downside is the constant sound of traffic. Birdsong overshadows a lot of it.
It's always a pleasant day at Allaire State Park, whether you're enjoying a festival, riding the train or taking a walk. It's also very pretty in the fall and seems to be a popular wedding venue, with its beautiful chapel and glorious landscapes.
It's wonderful beautiful and quiet plenty of shade relaxing
beautiful park! well kept/clean trails and a cute nature center. WEAR. BUGSPRAY. It is rife with ticks. Trails could be better marked.
Take a hike every Sunday with my 2 year old and 2 dogs. Fun spot
An absolutely wonderful place to have your wedding ceremony and an even better location for engagement photos. This is a location I recommend to anyone who wants a rustic, vintage look to their photos. I love it so much!
Beautiful park with great activities and festivals for all ages. I love it there.
Very nice place - lots of open space. The village is a great recrestionof the old company town that existed here. Check the schedule to learn when the store, bakery, blacksmith shops are open. The steam engine is a thrill for smaller children - the slow ride is a loop, so not that exciting for adults, but a nice family outing. There is also a paved bike path that joins with a much longer one - can be done in segments. The loop from the park to Manasquan and back is 11 miles. Suitable for road and hybrid bikes. Park entrance us $5.00 per person on weekends and holidays.
Got married there 36 years ago and still enjoy going there and walking around
Went to ride train for a birthday party. We had alot of fun.
Nice park, very educational.
Authentic beautiful old village where are gorgeous chapel and many seasonal activities that are great for both children and adults
My favorite park in that part of N.J. I love biking The Capital to the Coast trail. Which takes you on a scenic, countyside ride from Allaire to Manasquan.
Love this palce it is so beautiful
Nice place for a bike ride trail was nice little rough in places. Went all the way to the ocean very nice along the coast.
Great place to take a walk! Beautiful sites. There is a historic village. The buildings are not always open [but you can still walk around the village) so check to see when thayvare open and staffed. There is also a train that you pay to ride. It doesn't go through bthe whole park, it makes a loop in the woods and a field. Great place to. Take the kids!
Went camping here for the night. Was only $48 for a cabin! Can’t beat it. Had a wood burning stove, two sets of bunk beds, wooden picnic table inside and out. Outside had a fire ring and a grill as well! Couldn’t believe how nice it was for the price. We will be back.
The Railroad there is so well preserved and maintained. A true trip back in time!
Always a great place to go when the weather is nice. Friendly staff and rich in history.
Really cool place, nice trails and such. Historic village has great stuff for families, working blacksmith, baker, etc. Also a train.
Good morning enjoying the Saturday Flea Market. Many great finds.
Very nice and clean. Bath house needs updates
A great family park with plenty to do for people of all ages. The Village is fun to explore, shop and learn. The picnic area is great for large or small groups. It's fantastic for amateur photographers. Nice place for leisurely hike. And of course the train ride is great fun.
Great place to visit and step back in time.
Cool place with historical village. I went when they had an event with live music, beer tent & food trucks.
Beautiful park and historical site!
Very nice park. It's got great trails and areas to sit if you're trying to walk or have a picnic.
I like this campground but they really need to do a better job of patrolling at night. A couple of groups of high school kids showed up past midnight, partied, and trashed the neighboring campsites before leaving at 6am. Park rangers did stop by but didn't kick the kids out - which is ridiculous given they didn't have permits/overnight stay permission. Otherwise we enjoy this place.
Allaire State Park has great trails a wonderful historical Village and lots of little shops you can even ride an antique train it's a wonderful place to take the kids for an afternoon outside
It's a beautiful park with lots of trees. They have clean restrooms.
Great place for biking on the trails and road biking
I take my six year old granddaughter.she loves to go into the buildings and walk the trails. It surprised me how interested she was in the history.
One of The most beautiful Parks I've ever been to
Rider for life? Love mountain bikes? Then challenge yourself in Allaire State Park. I really love it, found so many friends in here. This place is also fine for a nice walk with your fiance or a pet ;)) Pets also love this place for sure!!
Some of the best MTB trails around , great for somebody in there 50s looking to get some good outdoor exercise on a bike . Nothing to technical , just lots of good flowing trails ( 35+ miles of them ) to ride .
If you like historical places, this is a great walk thru. In some of the buildings there was people who were quite knowledgeable in their surroundings.
Quite park, nice walk paths, and cute train. We spent 5 hours with the children and it flew by.
This was a really neat state park to visit. Highly recommend going here to see the nature in New Jersey.
We hadn't been there in a couple of years. The characters dressed in the time period and were very informative. Enjoyed our time there.
If you like history and how life was like 200 yrs ago nice place to visit and walk around.
Attended flea. Market, lots of vendors. Checked out the camping areas. Nice spots cabins, clean. lots of activities, train rides.
This park has clean trails with lots of variety in a family friendly environment. There are period specific shops for your enjoyment, plenty of picnic tables, parking, and fresh air. Walk, bike, or horseback in a beautiful park.
Very interesting & beautiful place to visit.Especially during events in the fall. Great place to visit in cooler weather!
Nice restored historic buildings. Hiking trails with beautiful scenery and great events. Also the Pine Creek railroad with many historic railroad cars. Wonderful place for family outings.
Very neat educational peak into a bygone era. Bring cash!!!
Staff was very nice and helpful. Beautiful park! Unfortunately we went for fishing and there were no fish in the kids fishing pond. Just hooked one turtle after another. Not a great experience for kids
Food was good and reasonably priced, even better with coupon. There was one grumpy employee, stoned face. I almost felt like walking out because of her attitude, but I was hungry. Use the drive-thru.
Great park lots of great reinactors and they have the best events LOVE the train
This is great park for everyone! It is beautiful with tons of history and a train. You can see how people lived before our times and hear interesting things from the very friendly staff. They have tons of fun events all year long. Nice hiking, and biking. Great place to spend day outdoors.
Allaire is a beautiful and relaxing place to spend time with the family. It's a great place to take pictures too.
Come and see for yourself. Enjoy the train ride a well.
This is a step back through time. You can see what life was like so long ago.
A living history village with an active train. Also hiking trails.
Great place to commune with nature, also good place to bring kids. The train ride is awesome and the village is very quaint and cute.
Great disc golf course but be prepared for ticks, they are abundant.
Very beautiful park but watch out for ticks you'll get about 5 per day
We went here to walk on the trails, and if you're looking to escape the NJ hubbub, this park is not a good place for that activity. Given that the park is bounded by the Garden State Parkway, I-195, and several local highways, our 4-mile loop rarely brought us out of earshot of traffic, and even then only briefly. If you're looking for a view into 19th century NJ history however, the Allaire village was interesting to walk around, even while closed for the winter, and, based on scanning comments from other folks, that seems to be the main reason people visit this park.
Had my engagement photos taken here, the park was very beautiful. It was the ideal place to get some great pictures
Great local park, chockfull of history and some wonderful walking trails.
We enjoyed the flea market searching for treasures! Beautiful day at the park as the daffodils were in full bloom and the Easter bunny was on the train. Certainly felt like a Spring day!
Went to a wedding at the church here and the lady that was dress like the 1800's, wow she must of left her good manners and good attitude back in the 1800's. She was telling people that if you came out of the church you cannot come back in again. She did not even smile and was very impolite. The park was good to walk around. That's all.
A beautiful park with lovely sites.
People are so nice when explaining what the buildings are use for & how it was back when it was owned by Allaire.
Many things to see and learn. Great for kids and adults to learn. If you're unfamiliar with colonial history, this is the place to check out. Nice walking trails. Park, playground and picnic area. Wear your bug spray. Bike trails, train rides, bakery, blacksmith shop and more. Check out the general store. Some old time favorites and some new items.
staff is great especially the young ladies. I gave them a little bit of a hard time when leaving. my fault not theirs. they maintained their composure and handled it nicely. site is great bathrooms and showers are clean. beautiful place to camp Rick C
Went here to take engagement photos of my friends. There were wooded trails, open fields, historic buildings with volunteers dressed for the time period, a pond and a train/train yard. There were so many places for us to take photos and enjoy being outside. I would recommend for easy hiking trails, biking, picnics, etc. Very beautiful place.
My family always enjoys Allaire. We went during their car show, which is always a special treat. We saw a hundred vintage and antique cars, got a ride on the train, and went for a little hike around Allaire village. A lot to see in a beautiful state park! This park always seems to have a steady crowd, as more parents understand how important our early state and national heritage truly is.
Very nice park. Good family activities
My son has a great time walking the trails by the nature center and buying the giant cookies from the bakery in the village.
Flea market was a lot of fun. Great talking with all the vendors. Unfortunately we didn't get to stay long because of the heat.
Great riding for all levels of bikers to enjoy... all the maps to the trails are easily accessed on maprika if you don't know your way around the park
Just love this park. Woodsy and historical....what could be better. Nice little gift shop too.
One of faster and popular bike trails
Best place to hone your mountain bike trail riding. One of the finest places around because it drains so well. Enough diverse terrain to help with all the skills you need.
I’ve heard great things about this park and have many friends who visit here, however my first experience today was enough. We paid $5 to park because “it’s MDW weekend” to take my dog for a nice walk...just to end up spending a total of 15 mins walking before we found 3 big red deer ticks on my dog Millie and 4 ticks on our friends dog. Immediately deciding to leave, I politely confronted the park employees with the fact that the park very obviously has a huge tick problem and it’s unbelievable that we just paid to be here to end up leaving. We were told “we know about it.” LOL. Take care of and treat your park and stop charging locals who come here almost every day a $5 fee because it’s a holiday weekend and you know you’ll get the money from all the tourists visiting the area....and the people who come to spend a nice day with their animals and now have no desire to come back.
Nice peaceful place to visit history
Great trails for bikers and hikers. Also old time village in the park. Call for hours. Antique Car show August is also great
Great park. Lots of trails with a variety of scenery are also available for a variety of uses. Trails on hospital road are hilly and more for the bikes. Trails on the other side of the park wrap around all kinds of terrain. Be careful because some of the trails get wet. *edit* I would recommend staying away from any narrow trails in the summer. Unfortunately the state does not always have the resources to keep up with the fast growth of brush along the trails. I would not be exaggerating if I said I picked 40 ticks from myself last week after walking here. Between my sister, my boyfriend and myself, we had definitely over 100 ticks of all species and stages.
This ride was a day after quite a bit of rain. Trails were perfect . Allaire can handle lots of rain so don't be afraid to ride after a rain storm.
It was a great camp ground. We went to celebrate my sister -in -laws 40th Birthday. We had a blast. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
American Civil War Historic
Great place to learn more history. Staff is very knowledgeable.
KURT AND SUZANNE PATZELT GOT MARRIED CHURCH THERE....VERY NICE
Townspeople where informative and friendly. Also very knowledgeable about their trades. Worth the trip just for the bakery
I like to jog everywhere especially is the nicer season's, I love the trails here
I've been coming here since I was a kid and it hasn't changed in 35 years except to add a few new exhibits. They dress in historical clothing and each building gives you a tour and a lecture about the life inside it. There's the mayor's house, the bakery, the blacksmith shop, the mansion. It is all so wonderful. You can buy snacks at the bakery and in the general store. And don't forget to take a ride on the Pine Creek railroad tucked up front by the parking area. They give you the history of the train as well.
We love coming to this local state park. the history here if you haven't been during the weekend day is amazing. You can see a slice of the past. The trails are also very nice to walk down. I love taking my dog to walk through the woods. Also the train is a must see.
Always beautiful, friendly atmosphere too.
Great park. A lot to due. Even camping. fun activities held at the park all the time. Very clean.
Great piece of history in Howell. Beautiful park setting.
Allaire park is great. Had a really nice time there
Great riding. Some technical tracks and some easy flat rides.
Amazing nice clean and maintained trails
Clean facilities, great walking trails and some history to learn.
Super fun. If you mountain bike go take a spin.
Scenic trails, cute village.
Love it. And the train for the holidays it the best
