I called ahead of time to find out if they take credit cards. I was told that they do and that they also have an ATM. The man specifically told me that they take credit cards and that they also have an ATM in addition to credit cards. When I got there I paid $2 in cash for parking in a parking lot that looks like it is part of the public facility (why they needed to charge for parking is beyond me?). This was my first warning sign that this place was overpriced. I then walked in the direction that appeared to be the entrance only to find out that it was not the main entrance but the handicap entrance. I went ahead and try to pay to get in through the handicapped entrance and the lady said that she doesn't take cards. I then told her that someone had told me that they take cards over the phone. She said yes, they do take cards but you have to go up to the main entrance. She pointed to the main entrance and I went that direction. Mind you, I have a 2 year old that I had to carry much of the way because the walking distance from where I parked and the main entrance is pretty far and it also involves a lot of steps. So, when I get up to the ticket booth at the main entrance and try to pay the lady tells me that they do not take credit cards. I once again explained that someone had told me that they take credit cards. She pointed to the side of her ticket booth and said yes you can use your card over there and pointed to where the ATMs were. I went to the ATM just to see how much of a charge it would charge me. I was pretty upset at this point because I specifically inquired about needing cash prior to coming so that I would not have to pay some sort of service fee. When I checked out the ATM it charges $4 for a transaction to withdraw $20. So I went back and got in my car and went to leave and told the man who took my money for parking that I would be back after heading to the bank to get cash. He was nice enough to let me do that since I was told that I didn't need cash in advance. So after coming back and doing the whole process over again we had blown 30 minutes of our time. Whenever we got in there was limited "free with admission" things to do. And I mean very limited. On the website they advertise that your admission cost allows you to do so many things. Well, that is just not true. The free things that were available were a petting zoo and watching some guy cut some wood. Other than that, everything cost money. So we went and spent $15 on tickets (1 ticket = $1). The rides all cost at least $3 per ride, per person even for a two-year-old. Which, by the way, there are only six rides that they let two year olds on and those rides technically have height specifications that require her to be taller than she actually is. But they were letting kids get on the rides anyways. So, I don't know how dangerous that is? Anyways, a lot of the rides I had to choose from were $3 and I had to pick ones that she could ride herself since it would cost $6 for me to go with her. These rides only go for about 4 minutes tops. I wasn't about to spend $6 for 4 minutes. I asked about the ferris wheel, and it required that I go with her and it costs $10 for me to ride with my 2 year old. So, obviously, I walked away. Overall, we spent $22 and she rode 5 rides and we left. A trip to 6 flags over Ga is much cheaper than this. We will probably do something like that next time instead. Also the bonita mall carnival/fair that comes though every once in a while is much cheaper. I can imagine that families at the Queen City Fair are spending around $100-$200 per visit. I just had the sense to stop and go home when I realized how limited our options were without spending more. Just don't go unless money isn't an issue for your family.
