This Park corresponds to the category of State park.
Nice camping spots, but not air conditioning in bathhouses
Good place for relaxing
Beautiful, peaceful park. Love the camp sites on the lake.
It's a big beautiful park. It's very well maintained and the landscaping is great. I recommend this park to any RV, camper, primitive campers out there. Everyone is very friendly. While you're here you'll most definitely enjoy your stay !!
Great state park. Nice campground.
Redneck Riviera part two. It has a great recreation lake, splash pad, cabins, pavilions, frisbee golf, walking trails, and a clean environment. What more do you want on a lake day or picnic? A good entry price is an added bonus!
So beautiful!
Green and beautiful. Nice place for swiming, fishing, riding personal boat, and family picnic.
Pretty good, basic park for camping, picnics, etc. If you don't mind huge, noisy crowds it's worth spending all day for the 4th of July fireworks show. The bathrooms are usually gross and there are always lots of fire ants and wasps near the picnic areas but if you can deal with that, the lake is pretty and it's a good place to spend a summer day or weekend.
The atmosphere was great and the park was clean.
Fun for the whole family.
I grew up here. Great place to get away with the family or just get away...
famous do no reason. too many weeds, and not enough bites
Nice place to chill just south of Hattiesburg..
Beautiful place will definitely take my family back here to hang out
This park is very special as I grew up coming to this park, always had fun times that stand out in my memory growing up. Now live out of state and recently have visited twice since High School. Great improvements and lovely park. So proud to call MS my home. Lady in office was awesome really knew here job & was nice & helpful. We even attended the church meeting & everyone so friendly. Would have rated the park a 5 Star but reported very small children playing in middle of highway twice. Even laying in middle of road. Very dangerous. This family was next to us and very messy lots of junk everywhere. Quite unpleasant to be parked next too. Also Geese droppings so bad we could barely walk without stepping in, even in roads. No bags for pets or trash cans, so people didn't pick up pets poop. Overall would I return YES.
Nice place to chill. The "No Alcohol" rule has made a lot of people find someplace else to go.
This is the cleanest state park on my area. No alcohol allowed. That keeps things calm. Good family atmosphere. Kids like the splash pad.
Great clean, great views of lake and nice rv spots
Love the cabins and swimming area
The state park is very quite nestled back in the DeSoto National Forest with a beautiful lake with gazebo's all around so you can have picnic's with you family's. They offer hunting and fishing licenses at a small cabin right after you come in the park. They offer swimming at other ponds, cabins, and trails plus so much more. Will worth the visit
Nice, quiet and spit was great.
Rented a cabin for the weekend. Peaceful and relaxing.
Looked clean went to where the rvs park. Pretty park
Great place if you want some peaceful time alone or with family.
We had a fantastic short stay. We arrived after dark and were greated by friendly, helpful staff member and then guided to our rv spot. I felt like we were taken care of excellently! I definitely recommend this camp ground.
Nice place to get away
It's a wonderful place for famalies
I had a great time with the family! Beautiful lake and scenery.
Love this place. Camp spots are not on top of each other. Very scenic, most spots are on the lake. Bath houses are clean and have plenty of hot water. Has a splash park for the little ones. Close to town, antiques, flea markets, and decent selection of restaurants if that's your thing. Campground is eay to get around and very clean and well kept. Gets busy during summer and holiday weekends. Popular with locals as a day use area, but they are separated from campers. They also have cabins available. Book early as they stay full during summer.
Very nice park and beautiful lake. It was $4 for one vehicle. Lots of restrooms, a few playgrounds, camping, spraygrounds, picnic tables etc. The camp office was air conditioned with restrooms, a sitting area and pool table and video games. We stopped and walk around to get some fresh air on our trip to Shreveport. A nice diversion. You can take the back entrance to get back on the Highway.
If you see a negetivite rating for this place, that person just wasn't going to be happy anywhere that day. It's a very decent park, simple and tranquil. The rest is up to the visitor. Nice lake, clean, kid and family friendly, pet friendly, rated PG.... Being snacks and drinks and have fun type of place!
Great spot to go camping and cool off on a hot day
Pros: Nice, well kept / clean park. The playgrounds were nice, everyone was very friendly, the lake was a beautiful setting. It was a decent drive from New Orleans for a quick 3-day weekend getaway. Disc golf course was a hit with our friends. Cons: The women's bathhouse needed work as the showers were constantly running which made everything damp and steamy (mirrors, floors, counters). We camped on sites 30, 32, and 34 which were marked as "full shade" on the booking website. That was completely false and made for difficult naps for my two young kids. We were also butted up against the main road which I did not realize when booking. The wind direction did cause us to hear the interstate. Other than the actual campsite location we had, it was a good, family oriented park. Next time, I'll be sure to grab a different site or go to primitive which was well shaded. We will visit again primarily because it's a nice park for a quick getaway to the outdoors which is what we were looking for.
This is a great state I only wish they had more hiking/walking trails.
We continue to truly enjoy camping at PBJ, the campers are always friendly and there's always something in the area to keep us busy. If you want to just relax you can do that also... it's the perfect place to spend a weekend.
Beautiful park, quite and serene. We really enjoyed our stay!!!
Loved it I want jet skiing
Not bad, not good. Mediocre. No handicap accessible pavilion where we were. Rest room leaving something to desire. However the admission fee is low I suggest that the fee be raised to$5.00 Use the extra bucks to fix it up. Plus $4.00 is awkward required multiple small bills for change. There is an easier softer way.
This place is beautiful! We stayed at an RV site in a tent. They have a small beach, which was really nice! The kids loved it. There is also a pier to fish off of with a small island at the end. The bathrooms we okay. The park was pretty full and surprising quiet at night. I would highly recommend this park. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because they charge $6 for kids and $8 for adults to get into the splash park. I think that is a ridiculous price for a Splash park. I don't understand why they must charge for adults!? I definitely didn't pay that price. We just stayed at the beach most of the time.
Great place, great view. Quiet during the week, gets busy on the weekends. Very reasonable rates.
The tent area is nice with showers and laundry available. It is usually quiet. The cabins are Hit or Miss. Some are very much in need of repair, dark, dirty and others are just OK. The furniture is ok to poor. Location is great and the canoeing on the lake is Grand. May want to tent or RV camp though.
Great little family swim area and boating fun. If your a camper come get you some it's Uber nice.....but if your in the mood for some fishing don't bother cause all the people and boats pulling tubes and what-not keep the fishes super skittish.
Been here every summer for the last 40 plus years and now we come every September for a family reunion ! We love this place ! The staff is amazing and so is the park ! It's a must visit if your in Town stop by .
The experience would've been great for my elderly patient if he could fish . The water was full of lilies . it would been better if he could been able to fish and enjoyed himself.
The Splash Pad is great for my 2 year old nephew and the disc golf course is very fun. Good luck catching fish from the bank though.
We stayed in the cabins and had a good experience in ours with no issues. They are old and don't have much to offer other than a place to lay your head on a plastic wrapped mattress. Splash pad was a bit pricey for me so we just played on the beaches and playground.
I enjoy coming to Paul B. I fish 2-3 times a week here. They have had the lake drained down this winter and the fishing has been tough. However it seems like they are starting to fill it again. It's a very well kept park and lake. Very family friendly.
It's amazing, vast greenay and open space, The lake is really beautiful. its in Geiger Lake Rd, Hattiesburg, MS . People can have fish catching experiences and board riding here.
Will never go to this place again the park rangers are real jerks and don’t know how to handle there job
It is a nice place to fish and walk the dogs. We had to make sure we weren't anywhere near the cabins with the dogs, but we found a beautiful place by the little dam. We were out of town, and visited the park quite often. We had fun fishing both sides of the dam. Topwater frogs, poppers, and whopper ploppers worked best for us at this time (just about all of June). You have to either use strong test, or just be careful. We lost a couple jigs/ lures in the lily pads. Frogs on top of the lily pads were the best. I tried a ned rig on the outside of the lily pads, and didn't even get a bite. Plus, the algea is super thick on the bottom, also. It is properly surveilled. We had a park ranger or police officer driving around at all times. Didn't have to worry about people parking near us, like they do in other places, doing all kinds of crazy things. Only 4 stars because there was not a bathroom near where we were. I have a bad knee and can't walk very far. The closest bathroom was up the hill on the other side of the dam which water overflows into, so walking in tennis shoes is a DON'T. You have to drive to it. Pretty inconvenient when there is a line waiting to get across on both sides.
Awesome fireworks display. Park is great, lake is great, and coordinating the crowds leaving was efficiently handled. They missed a star because the bathrooms were nasty and no paper in the ladies. For holiday crowds, you simply HAVE to check those.
Recently attended a family reunion at the park. The park is large and plenty of spots to cookout, camp or just hangout. The lake is a really nice size and had room for plenty of skiers. The park was well maintained and clean. If I lived closer I’d definitely visit again!
Such a nice place. Very clean and well maintained. Rented a pavilion for the day for a birthday/memorial for a friend. Will definitely go back.
Beautiful weather today! 1 L❤️ve
A very nice and clean state park. Great views of lake geiger and friendly staff. Great views of the sky at night for some sites.
Beautiful, peaceful little park. Employees and other campers were very friendly, lots of wildlife.... Unfortunately, no fish to be had by anyone fishing. We were there during the week and campers were minimal until Thursday-then as expected, the traffic flowed in. Sites in back are very spacious and green. Pull in spaces up by office are very close together. Each camping loop had a little pier at it's lake access point. I have it 4 instead of 5 stars because showers closest to the new back area are in need of updating. They are old and worn, this appear dirty. The shower I used had a blocked drain and almost immediately I was standing in drain water. Also, unlike other places we've stayed ot is one big open area. there is no separate floor area that stays somewhat dry, no hooks to hang anything on-not very functional.
Great place....
This is always a premier tranquil spot to get away but still be close at hand. Never had a bad time. Courteous staff and every one is always so friendly
Came to escape Hurricane Michael. Great spot and for us seniors $50 full hookup all 3 nights total on the lake.
Family loved driving over the water on the levy. Stayed in cabin 14b. Small cabin but ok for just 4 people. Queen beds very close together. Clean overall. Bring your own cooking pans though. Air conditioner worked wonderfully. We enjoyed the splash pad, not crowed even though holiday weekend. Lots of places to fish. Flea market right across the road. Park was a convient drive to biloxi, gulfport, and hattiesburg.
Breaker at our site kept flipping. Boom boxes going off everywhere at 1030 PM. Apparently, no quiet time observed here!!! I guess since its Saturday this is party central. Our grandbaby just got to sleep an hour ago, not sure how she is still asleep. Where is security? Do they even have security here??? So disappointed! If it wasn't for waking our grandbaby going out of the trailer my husband would probably be in jail right now because he would have already been over there.
Packed but spread out
Ok not enough activity for small kids ...
Had a great time. Will definitely be back
Beautiful ❤️ Place, LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! IT FOREVER BE MY GETAWAY SPOT!!!
We had SO much fun boating around the lake!! We went early in the day. Traffic didn't pick up until after noon so we had a lot of space to ourselves.
Great weekend get away. We had 4 campers in our group. Pavilion playground and beach area were amazing. Ready to go back.
Very nice park. Water and view outstanding. Driving across the water bridge is different but fun.
We were there for a Democratic retreat. Facilities were clean, the food from the caterer edible, but not tasty. Meeting rooms were sizable and condusive to our needs. The surrounding area, beautiful!
I love this park! I'm a full time RV'er this wonderful park offers a break from the many RV parks i've visited. Close enough to Hattiesburg to be convenient far enough away to be delightful.
We go for 4 days every summer and love it!!
This was an amazing place to enjoy the most beautiful scenery in South Mississippi. Watching the sunrise and sunset at this location was breathtaking. If you like to hike, camp, swim, boat, fish, feed the geese, play disk golf or just soak up some sun and enjoy the view, you will not be disappointed. This will be our routine camping spot for the foreseeable future.
I havent been there in years but my mom has recently been there. She said its still nice. You can camp and fish there or just spend the day there! I recommend and plan on going back! Sooner than later i hope!
This is a beautiful place!!!! It’s family friendly and the front office personnel was really nice and helpful. This was our first visit and we loved it!!! However the bath houses are AWFUL!!! Half of the showers didn’t work and some stalls didn’t have hooks so you had to throw all of your clothes over the door. The showers fill up with water. They are also not cleaned on a daily basis. They need to hire a plumber and invest in a power washer for the bathrooms and bath houses. I would have given it a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for the bath houses.
This park is HUGE. Its main purpose is for a weekend getaway. They have tons of cabins & RV parking. We only visited to check it out. I had no idea there was a disc golf course here. Not much to do if you're just a visitor. I rated this 4 stars instead of 5 b/c the trails were quite short. Still beautiful.
Nice park. If you are in an RV or pulling a large trailer and coming from the south on I59, it's better to exit on US98 and come down US49 to the park entrance. When you get to the main gate, you'll probably have to go through the exit side as the enter side is slightly curved with posts on the right side. After that there is a coffer dam with water running across it. Take it slow so you don't drag your back end
A beautiful view. Good for camping and riding on the lake. Don't try and fish here, you won't catch anything
Water is a little dirty but I love how they leave space on either side of the beach area for dogs. Near the splash pad anyways. Me and my fiancee bring our lab all the time. As long as you clean up after they don't mind.
Lovely quiet place to fish and relax
What a beautiful well kept park. We'll definitely visit again, this place is very nice. If you've not visited I highly suggest you do.
The park was great! Pull thru hook ups for our Tiffin 38'. The first area that had a small dam was a littl iffy to cross at night since it had been raining for several days. Great area for swimming and fishing. We will definitely stay here again.
Awesome time, nice and clean.
First time here. Beautiful state park just south of Hattiesburg. Great for families and large groups. Very clean. Tent, camper and cabins available. Fishing, frisbee golf and even a small chapel.
It's always nice...always
Fishing,picnicking,swimming and great fireworks display
Beautiful here.... Can't say that enough.
Absolutely amazing park! Will definitely be going back. Had a spot right on the lake. Staff was really nice and park was clean. Spots are large and paved. Overall a great place.
First impression was "I love this place!" After an 11 hour drive from NC we were excited to see such a cute clean campground. We had rented cabin 13B. Very clean! I was super impressed until we woke up the next morning and realized we had slept with bedbugs all night!! While making up the bed, I killed 3 of them and pretty sure at least 2 got away while I was trying to get a papertowel. Ugh!! Yall! I was horrified! My daughter had a reaction to the bites which left patches of bumps all over her body. We had to leave our favorite pillows and blankets there. I could NOT allow those items in my car. I spent 1/2 the day dealing with this. I did get a full refund but it took 4 days to get it so over half of my vacation money ended up being tied up in a place to stay. I was so disappointed. I will say that the staff was very nice and I do appreciate that but the horrible experience of dealing with bedbugs outweighs the friendliness.
I love bringing the kids out here
Great weekend getaway. Don't forget to browse the 49 flea market.
Great place fishing and canoeing are fun also a great place to swim
Nice park with camping, cabins, boating, fishing, and nature trails.
Attended the birthday party of a long time dear friend, the facilities at the main office were used and were quite adequate in all respects. Additionally a nice scenic drive around the lake are available if one has the time and inclination. Had a great time.
Excellent kept park. Down at the fishing pier Mr.Moose caught a fish.
Nice place to take the kids on a hot day. The public restrooms could use some attention.
Beautiful Lake.Very well kept, and nice people.
This is a disc golf course review. Its a nice challenging course. The major issue I had was that people would park their vehicles inbetween the tee boxes and baskets.
My family and I had a wonderful stay this weekend. The cabin was clean, had linens, toilet paper, paper towels and garbage bags provided. The beds are a tad uncomfortable but bearable. We had even reserved a pavilion for a family get-together and when the weather was too cold and windy, they made accommodations for us to use the lodge instead. All staff were very friendly and informative. A cabin next door had plumbing issues at night and the staff made us aware since they would be making some noise outside. Due to the weather we did not do as much exploring as we would have liked too, but enjoyed all that we did see. We will definitely return.
I love this park
Beautiful place to hang out and enjoy nature. I enjoy playing some of the disc golf baskets as well. We made friends with some geese, ducks and even a turtle.
We went here for the splash pad. You pay for your car load, but then you pay an additional price for the splash pad, which was something outrageous like $6 or $8 a person. You might as well go to a pool or water park. Also quite few things on the splash pad weren't working and there was trash on it. And someone walked in smoking cigarettes.
We had a wonderful time staying here!! So much fun! Loved how clean the entire park was,,the low water bridge and arcades and pool tables!! Outside playground,,frisbee golf,,walking trails,,,so much to do!!! Not to mention,,the highway 49 flea market across the highway!!!
This park is beautiful!! Lifts if amenities! Place to go
The fishing was horrible the one time I went. You have to pay to get in and pay to camp.
Love this place so peaceful
We went for the 4th if July weekend. A total of 10 people in our family. And 2 service dogs (Boston Terrier). (Bullie). I’m deaf and have seizures so the dogs are for my benefit. We stayed in primitive and the weekend was great until the last day. Check out is 2pm. We packed up our campsites cleaned everything up and still had time to swim. So we go to the dog friendly side of the park. There was a problem with a boater. The park ranger was called. After a conversation over the problem the park ranger then proceeds to tell me that if my dog approached him he will shoot it. It’s why they carry guns (his words). And just bc my dog is a Bullie he is automatically Aggressive. I then proceeded to tell him he is not aggressive he is trained as a service dog to perform a job. His job is to protect me bc I am deaf. The ranger then tells me bc my dog is aggressive he is not allowed on state property or he would be shot Aren’t law enforcement, rather it be state park employees or law enforcement officers, trained to know the difference between a service dog and a normal dog? Are you not trained to know if the dog is aggressive or being protective? It’s a shame that a Bullie gets labeled an aggressive dog just bc you carry a gun and can say he is aggressive just bc of the breed. It’s a shame we the parents of these dogs get treated differently bc we own them but are responsible enough to have them trained. I am very unhappy with the way the problem was handled and I am very unhappy with Forrest County Sheriff Dept for uttering the stupidest words of “it’s why we carry guns bc we can shoot a dog”. Ignorance of the breed needs to be stopped. The only reason I give it a 1 star is bc if the ignorance of employees and the way the handled the situation with the boater
Go explore! This place is wonderful. You can camp, rent a cabin or just go for the day. They have a nice disc golf course as well. During the summer take the kids to the slogan splash pad or to one of the designated swimming areas on the lake. Take the boat, jet ski or kayak and go fishing or ask in skiing.
Every year we have a yearly reunion there. My kids & grandkids look forward to our time there its home away from home.
Had a great time! Was very clean!
We were in a pull through site on the main road. These sites are to close together. There isn't room to sit outside in front of your camper. Next time we go it will be a site off the main road. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful lake, with nice splash pad, good play ground. And plenty of space for children to ride bikes.
A very enjoyable relaxing place for a retreat experience in a natural environment. Clean with fishing, swimming, hiking, boating cabins, dorms.
My family and I took our first trip in the camper to Paul B. Johnson. It was beautifully maintained and patrolled by courteous and helpful rangers. We cannot wait to go back!
Relaxing and not over crowed !
For fishing it's absolutely terrible. I'm a local and have fished it for years, the park never stocks it, Paul b should be given a higher budget for this purpose. Management is nice and the park is beautiful. Again no baaassss.... :/ lol
My grandkids luv coming here, a lots of fun
Splash pad is really cool for small children
We had a blast kids enjoyed the fishing and playground cabin was very nice and reasonable
Very polite, hospitable, and a wonderful family environment.
Great place for camping, swimming,or nature watching and there's a nature trail walk
Has everything you want except a swimming pool. Has a splash pad and a lake for swimming.
Water is water when you're wanting to cool off. Just don't try cooling off in a toilet though. It's unsanitary. Go to Paul B Johnson State Park instead.
Beautiful and peaceful place. Myself and my quilt group use this as a quilt retreat every year. The staff is very accommodating. We love Libby. She's very knowledgeable and can help in so many ways. Thanks to the staff we love coming.
Beautiful grounds, cabins could use a little TLC (curtains in terrible condition) wonderful experience
Nice place
Very nice place to relax and have fun
It is a great place to take the family
Very beautiful and serine. Staff is usually very unfriendly
Great visit! Have been nearly 10 times in the last year or so. Good for the whole family with tons of hiking and fishing available as well as several lakes to swim in. Also a splash pad for kids. Its $4 to get in for a car of 6 or less people and I believe it goes up a dollar for every 4 more people. The splash pad costs a little more but its worth it! The camp also has several homes you can rent out for cheap and decks and boats for rent for your fishing. A 10/10 experience, can't wait to come back!
Spacious, quiet and reasonably priced
Great nature trail, fishing is ok.
Nice place
Awesome splash pad for the kiddies!
Beautiful park and very reasonably priced. Stayed one night in motorcoach.
Lots of sites the lake was down several feet so that was a bummer great otherwise
I love this new found park!! We had a Great Time while here,,3 days...super nice campers! We stayed on site 51,,which we won't do again,,,with a peir,,everyone walked thru,,some even walked through our camp,,,while we were all sitting down having family time,,,which I understand was not the parks fault,,it was the inconsiderate campers across from us...,,however...lesson learned! Site 50 or 52 will be our next location! I really did enjoy our time overall!
We went here for vacation with our 3 grandsons, had a great week, fishing , swimming and just relaxing.
Nice STATE PARK I've been to. I truly love it go everyday . And it's safe for family and pet friendly bathroom are so well kept
Great area we enjoy camping here clean and everyone who works there is friendly with great service
Nice and quiet. Great stress reliever.
Paul B is one of my families favorite campgrounds. Lots of great features including the cabins on the lake, several beach like swimming areas, splash pad, disc golf, fishing, and waterskiing. At only $3 to visit for the day( plus an extra fee to use the splash pad) it's a great place to bring the family.
Yup that's where Paul be is. Just GPS it n let Google map take you right to it
Great! Why haven't I heard about this place before? I will definitely go back
Great place for family outings
This place is awesome!!!!!!!!! The staff is amazing and if you get the chance to meet (Sophia and itsy poo), then you will understand why we always come back. ..
Good place to visit
It was crowded but lovely here.
Me and my children and other family came out here for our vacation of the Summer and spent 5 days and 4 nights having so much fun great swimming hole nice nature trail accessible bathrooms and showers even has a washer and dryer if you need it! He will definitely be back
U have to pay for the splash pad and the campsites are to close together and there is nothing really to do unless u fish
Wonderful Park ,will come back again and again
Beautiful scenery and relaxing place to float the river.
Family friendly
Not crowded, great place to cool off beaches are clean, great place to cool off and relaxe.
The park is right on the lake lots of trees building place to go and cool off I love it.
Love staying here! The cabins are nice and the park is beautiful.
Great location a little crowded for our tastes.
Watched fireworks show, it was nice
Great park on small lake. Camped overnight, senior rate was $17.12. All of the campsites have views of the lake and some sites are on the edge of the lake. The sites were nice, mix of shade and sun. Bath house scattered in each Loop except for the newest Loop had no bathhouse. Showers were hot, and while they wouldn't win any awards for cleanliness, they were adequate. Reasonable space between sites allowed for a sense of privacy.
