It's awesome to step back in time. I also have family ties to the area. Its peaceful and relaxing. Climb the fire tower for a amazing view of the Mississippi river. The museum is amazing. Go inside the church and imagine how many people over hundreds of years that have sat and worshiped the Lord there. Also my niece was married there. They have a huge pavilion with a massive fireplace that is awesome for group activities. This is a must see. I promise it will be a place you will go back to.

Great campground, clean, quiet, level concrete sites under trees in the lower campground. Lots of history to explore on the grounds. Great river view, but no direct access. The ladies working there are a wealth of information and can help with anything - even recommending places. The one downside is no cell service - I had 1 bar with at&t and was able to text sometimes - and only about 4 TV air channels. I did get a good signal when I drove up to the observation tower - not climb it, just park next to it. Not sure about satellite reception, but there are alot of trees. Will be staying here again!

Nice, simple, truly amazing

Small out of the way place. Fills in details from Vicksburg Military Park. Lots of personally donated artifact collections.

This was a great stop for our family. Interesting sites and building, many you can walk into. Nice picnic and bathroom facilities. I would highly recommend a visit.

Connie Lucia

Very historic area. Friendly staff, clean. Water in showers needs to be hotter.

Shira Wade

History and the curator was super nice and knowledgeable.

Branion Woody

The Museum is packed to the brim with artifacts, the staff are very courteous and knowledgeable. I found the grounds to be very well maintained. Yes the cemetery could be better taken care of but take into consideration they probably have a very meager budget to keep up the park. All in all it is a fascinating place! There is something for everyone there!

Flor Roldan

Great hospitality, full hook up beautiful park,,, Ranger Jim and wife great host

Margaret Holland

A great hidden gem! Beautiful view from the top of the observation tower. (Mississippi) River access by boat ramp. Only two short hiking trails that get washed out after storms. As with all of Mississippi’s natural resources, they seem underfunded, but they are doing the best with what they’ve got!

Bertie Bryant

Beautiful historical place

Fun camp ground. Nice hike and historic sites. My boy scouts had a blast here.

Clean and well laid out for campers and RVs. Not great sites for tent camping. Clean restrooms and showers, friendly host, interesting museum. Very quiet at all times.

The Road Less Travelled

Camped here in Feb 2019. No ATT cell service. TV gets several stations with antenna. Campground area is old worn, but functional. Sewer h/u available but not practical as it is at rear of site. Didnt work for us as we would have needed 30ft of hose. Lots of water around. Road bringing you to the park can be washed out. Park is a historical gem. Convenient to Vicksburg battlefield. Local town (port gibson) is a depressed area, but has everything you need. The locals are very friendly people. There is a nuclear power plant a few miles down the road from the campground.

Michelle Taylor

Very well kept piece of hisory!!!! A great place to visit to not only learn more about the past but great for getting out doors and enjoying beautiful scenery!!! The lookout tower was a nice bonus with a beautiful view of the mighty Mississippi!!

Stumbled across this place out driving one sunday. Nice to see alittle history. The church was beautiful. Climbed the 75 ft observation tower in the rain. Well worth the view.

John Withrow

Such a great place, it's off the beaten path, but well worth the stop. There is also a great small museum here, the gentleman working inside was amazing to talk to, so much history here.

James Lipsette

It's a nice place and the people are very friendly. Not a whole lot to see. Camping is available.

Randell Baker

The park is in total disrepair . It's a shame how bad the cemetery has been allowed to deteriorate. The only this that was nice to see was the museum the rest of the park is ran down and not worth the fuel it takes to make the trip.

We stayed at the campground here. If you need tv (unless you have satellite), wifi (unless you have a personal hotspot), and phone service (unless you're willing to travel 5 miles into town), this is not the place for you. But if you enjoy peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, you'll like this campground. There's an upper and a lower campground. You have to go up a steep hill to get to the upper campground so we stayed in the lower one, and we're glad we did. The upper campground is where the tent sites are located, and they're put to good use by scout troops and school groups on the weekend. The road into the campground is narrow, but the campground was practically empty while we were there so it wasn't an issue. The campground is a perfect place to relax, the people are nice, and the museum and battlefield are free for campers. You can wash your RV for $5 and your car for $2. The laundry has two washers ($1) and two dryers ($0.75). There's a shower/restroom at the upper campground. The shower/restroom/laundry for the lower campground is at the top of a hill, but there are stairs to get to it or you can drive up to it. Since we would rather use the shower and bathroom in our RV anyway, this wasn't a concern for us.

Beautiful grounds, museum and spacious, full hookup campground. Camping $25. General park admission $4 person person (less for Seniors).

Great place to visit knowledgeable staff!

Braydon Lewis

Very historical and informative. The inside museum area has great artifacts and historical items ranging from fossils to the Civil War Era. The rest of the site has a road as well as 2 foot paths. The cemetery is larger and more spread out than you would imagine (and very well kept). The lookout tower is fun. You can see the river through the trees in the summer but it's way more visible in the winter. I didn't use the camp grounds so I cannot comment on them but I did see quite a few people using them. The staff was very friendly and everything on the grounds was very clean. As a side the site is smaller than it seems on the map. It would take a hour and half to 2 hours to see everything at a glance, but you could easily spend a lot more time than that if you wanted to see every single thing there.

Marilyn Berkshire

Great place to visit and RV camp. Lots of Civil War history here. Friendly staff.

Russ Kennedy

Beutiful scenery. Great place to visit.

Marshall Williams

This is a wonderful campground. Not for children though. There is no playground and I think kids would get bored. Nice museum of civil war stuff and a circle drive which goes by points of interest in the park. 20 miles from Vicksburg. Only down side is the water pressure. We have to use our water pump for enough flow to activate our tankless water heater. No swimming pool.

Julie Cronan

Nice museum and staff. Make sure road is not flooded before you take the 7mile trip down the road as we almost didn't make it in the entrance. It cost $4 per adult, which in my opinion, was a bit expensive for what is offered. A lot of old artifacts and a beautiful church to explore.

Robert Walker

Love going there just to walk around and shoot photos! Well worth the couple bucks admission.

Nice day with the family. Not a large military park in comparison with Vicksburg obviously, but has a museum and a lookout tower. Kids enjoyed the day. Just across the road from the Mississippi River. Plain was flooded at the time we visited last and saw some alligators and Marsh birds.

Drove all the way in and it was closed and locked with a sign staying it was closed at dusk...It was 4:30. A couple campsites were occupied but there was no way to get in. A simple sign at the gate would have been appreciated.

Lot of HISTORY OCCURRED here. Location is at the mercy of the MISSISSIPPI RIVER. No levees to protect the entrance from flooding. Worth the trip BUT CALL the DAY OF to MAKE SURE they are open and have power.

We're from Alabama and stayed here a couple of years ago for a base of the Natchez Trace and Vicksburg. The park is full of Civil War artifacts and actual battlefield emplacements. Our park host, Jim, was awesome and accommodating in every way. The showers were clean and tidy. The museum was very cool. The Windsor Ruins are a really haunting old South place to go. Our spot was pretty level with full hookups. There is a lower nicer section for bigger rigs. We stayed in the upper section and you'd better have some horsepower to make it up the hill, but once up there; it's a little more private. We loved our visit and need to go back.

It was a nice place I've been there a couple of times
