REVIEWS OF Buccaneer State Park IN Mississippi

Terry Sumerlin

Very well maintained camp ground. Kids pool area was nice. Camp sights in good shape. Gained some good memories with family and grand kids. Hate the gulf waters had bacteria/ algae at this time. Would like to surf fish.

Robin Spiers

This is a very nice place to bring the family for the day with children of all ages! I’m only giving four stars because of the lockers and parking fees... the web site did not state that you would have to pay .75 cents every time you went in and out of the locker, although that is not expensive it would have been nice to be prepared with a roll of quarters or if a daily flat rate would have been offered. I also think $4 for parking is a little steep for such a small park.

Adam Authement

Time was good there even with the rain. Don't back up pass the pad on #91 or is it 93 because of a large 6inch branch on the back side. That goes across the pad. Could result in roof or a/c damage.

Robert fugatt

Very rude and pushy staff i came late after hours and offices were closed so i parked in a parking lot just out the entrance and figured on checking in in morn so morning comes and woman being pushy says I cant stay there i told her that i had come late and just parked there because i was after hours when i arrived so i got up and was getting ready to go in to check in and here comes another one sayin they would call the police.this lot has absolutely no signs saying any restrictions. I came to relax but after that they can shove that park

Claire Hart

Hidden gem right on the gulf, took spot 270 which had one of two trees in that area. Waterpark attached to campground = added bonus!

Mickey Plaisance Jr.

I love the beach playground and atmosphere there

Lori

Small beach area closed due to algae, camping fees are excessive, water park on site but charges another $20 per person on top of high camping fees. Staff rude and annoying. Waterfront camp sites are actually roadfront and the water across the road is discolored due to algae. No picnic tables on water front sites. No senior discount. Do not recommend! Drive to Alabama or Florida instead.

Jsckie Davenport

Great place to camp! Convient to Interstates, cities, water entertainment.

Ben Burks

Got kicked out of buccaneer For asking someone to use a gas can because are car was broke down.Poor staff and rude ,bathrooms are not cleaned regularly. And every little thing cost more . As well the fire ants were out of control. And mosquitoes Are really bad . Mississippi has good beaches but would not recommend Buccaneer State Park to my worst enemy had an awful time will never go back to Buccaneer again .

Ğ䣹XýŘăVèÑwØļF

Not enough there at the water park. Only good thing is the wave... and even after just there for 30 min. Everyone at the park was told to leave due to a sudden rain that came in. No refunds to compensation. Just oh well you lost your money. Wasnt worth the 65$ anyways

Garrett Jacobs

Drove 2 hours to go camping with my friends for the weekend. Get to the park and told you just be 21 to rent a camping spot. The workers were nice about telling us. My brother(18), my friend (19), and myself (18) came to camp in a tent and get away from college for the weekend. We planned to disk golf and just have a good time. I understand it is a rule for the state park but at 18 I can enlist in the military, vote in elections, purchase a firearm, etc. but I can’t rent a site to set up a tent for the night? I think that rule should be looked into and possibly changed.

That Girl Jeeps

I camped in the treasure cove loop and was pleased at first. After day 1, I was surprised to find German roaches on the picnic tables. We stayed for two nights total and left. The second day there were roaches attempting to get in the cooler we had on the ground near the picnic table and another we had in a truck about 15 feet away. I also saw one attempting to crawl into the back of my Jeep. Overall a disgusting experience. Now I have to treat my camper and Jeep. Oh and you have to pay extra for all the water attractions. They could at least throw in a free day of the pool when you camp.

Carlotta Fairley

Took my boys on their first camping trip. The grounds were clean and the people friendly!

Jeana Sanders

The park rangers are very nice and helpful. Clean, peaceful, and fun place.

Mark Cagle

The staff were very nice, beach access was great. Litter was a bit of an issue.

Brent Ecklund

Nice park. Nice pads to park on and level. Firepits built into the ground, made of concrete. However, the pit was pretty full and hadn't been cleaned in a while. One other thing, the game room wasn't available for use...really?? It is Mardi Gra! This park is near capacity if not full, you would think the onsite manager would want to make MORE money. Next we will try laundry, hope that isn't "seasonal" too

Joe Williams

Very nice park and trail. The trail is muddy at times, so plan your foot wear. The trail head has very nice bathrooms. Kept very clean.

Marie Lyman

There's a gal in the registration that's not very people friendly and the whole 2 weeks I was there the wifi didn't work at all but they did nothing about it so I had to buy more data from Verizon. Otherwise it was a great location to lots of other things to do, beautiful, and Gulf Coast campers came right to my site to fix a leak I had in my roof of my RV

Naomi Freyder

Very nice, clean state RV park. Low rates. Big playground, nice bath houses. Small water park with slide, wavepool and then a pool at a different site. You can use both for same ticket. Roomy sites, not too many really shaded but lots of trees. Most of the time there is a nice breeze due to being so close to the beach. Some sites back up to the road across from the beach. You have to purchase tickets to the water pk and pool, but reasonable. There are discounted rates for adults of $11 from 4 to 6. I think maybe $9 for kids. Our site is 93 in Pirates Cove and its an end site. $28 PER NITE MY SECOND VISIT WAS early Aug we stayed on a "beach site". $45 nightly Too expensive for a state pk. No concrete sites, no trees, no sewerage, across from the water, but not a beach. No picnic tables. We paid a lot less ,and got more at the sites in the middle of the park. Cheaper at Sliver Slipper RV down the road. And SS has concrete pads and is across from the beach. Will stay there next time.

diane brinkley

It's in the small town of Waveland right off the beach. They have a water park on premises, walking trails, kids pool and all the normal amenities. It was very quiet and well ran.

Doug M

Nice park, sewer connection a little different with it on a 45° slant in concrete 6" off the ground. Great price and nice playground for the kids. Water park a little pricey for two slides and a wave pool ($19 each)

jeff gunther

Needs improvement especially in the back section where there are no pads and you have to use pallets to get in you RV if it rains hard and make sure of your booking before you go Mississippi state parks have no refund policy or transfer dates

Ann Crockett

Mosquitoes and gnats really bad, no hot water in showers.

Mr. Honey Do

Went to cool off! If I had a camper I'd be camping there also. A very nice place for that camper life!

Bella Gilliland

The campground is never too crowded, unless it's a holiday. It's usually very clean and well-kept.

Susan Smith

We enjoyed our stay at Buccaneer St. Park...stayed 3 nights & used the very back loop near the railroad tracks. We found that the train didn't run that much & it really wasn't a bother at all. Loved the paved roads, clean & excellent bath houses, and closeness to the Gulf. We had no concrete pad, but the gravel site was just fine, we were able to level out quite easily. (37' Class A) Wonderful Silver Slipper Casino is just down the road, be sure to visit them! Water Park & small pool near our campsite were closed for the season, which is understandable, as it wasn't warm enough to use them. Oh! Laundry room in the activity bldg. was quite handy. Only complaint is that the girls in the check-in station could have been more accommodating...no stars for friendliness.

rosetta Armand

What a blast went with family and friends .Great water park and beautiful beach

Carpenter Cordero

This place is awesome. Went for the day and rode my bike around the sprawling grounds. There were plenty of spaced out gazebo gathering areas. Kids playground and the RV campgounds nicely spaced.

Robert Bazor

Good place for rednecks and city folk to go act high class. Good clean pools and good clean park. No bad stuff. No crime. Good staff.

Jackie Hinkle

Nice park, security rides thru often but not durning quite hours when people party and play loud music till wee hours of the morning, dogs run freely and people leave their trash on their campsite when they leave. One of the neighbor camper was chased by a pit bull dog that was running free. Most campers comply with the rules but there are some that just do what they want to. This park needs to enforce the rules, not sure if we will return.

John Gomila

Wild harsh environment. See nature. Caught plenty of mullet and cocahoe for bait. Saw ground rattler. Bordages sells live shrimp. Too windy for wade fishing. Went to wave pool. Need adjustment on the slides. Someone stole the sewer "y". Brought it back when they checked out. Never saw them. Just had a good time!

mary davis

Love this state park. Would like more if they would leave the pool open till at least till the end of October. It usually does not get cold until then

Lindsey Babb

To describe our stay as Unpleasant is an understatement. Our family of 7 pulled our camper 4 hours to stay here and we were on site 6. We reserved that spot Monday- Friday. Prior to coming we read a lot of negative reviews pertaining to roaches and I’m telling you they wrote that for a reason. That’s why I’m here. The cockroach infestation was absolutely crazy! We arrived Monday and found 5 in the camper that night. As nasty as roaches are, several people in our party we’re quickly losing their minds. Tuesday night- same thing. We decided that we would spend Wednesday spraying the camper down with Home Defense. We woke up Wednesday (since roaches are night time bugs) and went outside to enjoy our coffee and noticed them everywhere. Most campgrounds have flies and mosquitos to deal with during the day- Buccaneer State Park has roaches and no flies. We saw 2 flies, one mosquito and hundreds of roaches. We lost count on how many we killed inside our camper and battled outside. We decided we had had enough and decided to pack up and leave 2 days early so we can go home and try to tackle a possible infestation we picked up at Buccaneer State Park campground. I’m writing this as we drive home and I’m upset because we had to cut our vacation short. And we lost $. I notified the teenager working the office and she claimed she’d never heard of such but I find that hard to believe based on just how bad it was in addition to the reviews about the roaches online. Do NOT come stay here unless you want to cuddle up with cockroaches and allow them to take over your camper and personal vehicle too!

Terresa Stewart

Friendly staff. Clean, good hookups, at least where we were. People need to be aware there is no pool or water access unless you pay for the waterpark. The beach sites are actually ocean view sites, the bay is across the highway. There is no actual beach. There is no pool available for campers outside of paying for the waterpark.

wayne degeyter

We like it here we came here a couple time a bunch of us

Dania Merrifield

Such a wonderful place if you have children with you yet still quiet enough to enjoy if you dont. My only complaint are the showers, they could use a real deep cleaning. Shallow pool with waterfall is perfect for kids and adults. The always on duty lifeguard is a definite plus.

Les Wall

If you coming in on a holiday weekend be sure you make a reservation. But a nice campground. Only one section can you actually see the gulf but it's not that far of a walk. Pools are closed now, so can't comment on them. They look nice for summer. Bath rooms look clean. Laundry is reasonable not sure about function yet. Hard to believe that when we arrived on Wednesday the place was practically deserted busby Friday night the whole place is packed.

Susan Cole

Great place to take family for a Little outing

Turk C

We loved this place. We had a great time with our family.

meshell raines

Great park, great friendly employees always willing to help. Kids loved it. Will definitely be back.

Mike Ferrell

Friendly staff, nice facilities. The sites are hit and miss, depending on what you are looking for.

Karrie Samford

NICE PLACE TO CAMP

Howard Watkins

Beautiful

Linda Winkfein

Great place to stay and explore the coast. Clean sites and washrooms. You can hear a train at night. Early April the pool looked ready but not open. WiFi came in and out so wasn't reliable. The beach sites are not on the beach because the road is in the way. I liked our site at the back of the park in the trees.

Sandra Fielder

We are here now. We love the park! Great site with full hook-ups. Almost perfectly level asphalt site. Very large site and not close to your neighbor. The beach is right across the road. Extremely nice bathhouses which look almost new. One VERY IMPORTANT note!!!! Do NOT come the way GPS says!!! There is a railroad crossing that big rigs CANNOT navigate!!!! I have a small travel trailer and almost didn't make it over. Go as if going to Silver Slipper Casino! DO NOT GO ON IOOR STREET!!! Other than that, super place!

DobsonPartyof9

spent over a week in the park, Nice park and campsites, well kept grounds. Dirty dirty bathrooms, no AC in bathhouses. Drains full of bugs and hair. Very Rude staff at check in gate. Not welcoming at all. Some extreme rules. Witnessed them running people off from picnicking under an unoccupied pavilion. You must bring your own trash to dumpster when camping. They Charge $6 per person Per day to use the small wading pool in rear of park even though you are camping. Pool is in much need of repair and very dirty. Water park is very expensive with only a wave pool and 2 slides. Laundry facility was very dirty. Washers full of bugs. Elevator was so disgusting. Dirty walls, doors, floor. Just really ridiculous. No security at night. Gates are left open at night but like Fort Knox during the day. They charge $4 a car to get in during the day. It is Convenient to town. Could be a great place with just a few changes. Beach sites are the highest priced with no sewage. It’s really a shame people do not take pride in their jobs. Typical state employees. There must be 4 park staff residents living there in nice homes. Constant patrolling of park vehicles. Many staff In the campground. Water park has 4 young girls min sitting in the booth eating ice cream and looking at cell phones. The young staff are also very disrespectful. Whoever trains them is really doing a disservice to the youth under them. Their is no pride in their work or respect of customers. No one is concerned about any of the issues in the park. It’s like n “I just work here” attitude. So obviously funds are not an issue with all the excess of staff just management. Sad Mississippi! Sad tax dollars are spent this way. I will post more pictures. ☹️

Larry Hunt

I gave this place at 2 not because it wasn't a nice place... all the roads are paved and the facilities are clean. However, we're here in the middle of September and everything is closed up, no store, no Wi-Fi, no pool, pretty much nothing but a campsite. The kicker is they still charged full price with no chance of a refund because they don't tell you this when you are reserving the site. There's not really a beach, the water is very muddy. About the only thing to do since everything else is closed is go to a casino. If you're going to do that you might as well stay at their campgrounds and get the use of all their amenities.

Bill Semion

No-see-ums all over during our early April stay so we stayed inside. Hopefully they are not a bother all year. Part of the campsites are near the bay so perhaps they’re less. Campground is fine however it is not the best I’ve seen.

Cuva Girl

Nice family place on a really hot day. Make sure to bring swim shoes, the ground is HOT!!!

Josh Harrell

Rude check in employees. Trashy site. Selective rule enforcement, employees drove by dozens of times to ensure our site wasn't violating again. Level camp site, but huge concrete drop off and tons of roots. The pool is dramatically overpriced, as it should be free for campers. Lots of folks on Facebook complain about theft overnight. Plenty of choices to go elsewhere.

Scott Dearman

It's a nice place. The water park is fun. But tent camping area isn't that great. Also, dont let the mosquitoes carry you away.

Joey Moran

Took my fiance here for her birthday. Haven't been here since before Katrina. It was better than I remembered! Had a wonderful time camping in the beach front spots! Can't recommend this place more!

Jeff Kruys

Could really use some picnic tables and trash cans in the primitive camping area, so we don't have to just sit on the ground. But thanks at least for having tent sites that are cheaper than RV sites (unlike FL state parks).

jordan horn

Nice park to get away for the weekend. Water park was fun for the kids.

Dean Marie Crossland

Very wonderful park with lots to do for anyone. Close to New Orleans to the west and some nice beaches to the east. Plenty of camp sites and very clean facilities. I had no problems with my dog in the campground, though it is hit and miss on taking your dog to beaches in the area. Enjoy.

cody Braud

Great place

Tim Hammond

Good place to camp! Sites not even close to level. Too many low spots, which are muddy and full of water.

Jane kinney

Very nice park on the gulf.

Mark Michell

Very unfortunate you have to check in at the office...Nasty administrative staff. Someone should tell them it's not the state prison. It's a state park people! Would not recommend to a friend or an enemy.

Don Browning

Nice park. Third time we have been here. This time, kids out of school and roaming park with minimal or no supervision. On and off road without looking. Also, minimal water pressure at our site(#44). Probably our last time.

Jim Tanner

First, I am a dedicated tent camper. Mississippi is not a place where you want to throw up a tent in September. The heat and humidity and lack of a a breeze through that yaupon thicket are abysmal. A good rain came while I was gone one day, and I discovered their primitive tent area was a also a sheet drainage area coming off the road. I asked for primitive. I got a spot that was from home plate to second base from an active railroad. That is not primitive, it is hobo jungle industrial. Chiggers: The happiest colony of chiggers that I ever encountered. Mosquitoes: With a little OFF, they were not so bad. I asked to be placed near a bathroom. I saw the moon more often than the bathroom. Beautiful swimming pool: NEVER OPEN Picnic tables: No picnic tables within 200 yards. A good-lookin' gal started following my pickup through the park. I sped up. She sped up. I thought my magnetic personality had come shining through. It was quite a let down to have to tell my wife that the gal only wanted to tell me to quit driving so fast through the park.

Darrell Stafford

Nice park

United Public Radio

Great fun place great staff nice beach fun Park

RxTechLA

The wave pool is my favorite

Scotty Able

The Bugs where insane. Wrong time of year...even with a fire going.

Erik Roberts

Beautiful park really needs cleaned up fire pits and grills full of ash and trash the bathroom also needs some love as I walked the park there were never a shortage of paper and other trash to pick up will say the managers husband was friendly and welcoming and took the trash I had picked up

millie bissitt

Love this rv park

Micah Boudreaux

Awesome place to primitive camp in the winter. Helpful and friendly staff and generally all around nice people camping in RVs, 5th wheels, etc etc. Can't wait to go back

Bobby Richards

Absolutely love this state park! Very close to St. Louis Bay. We had a blast at the beach. Showers and bath rooms are very clean. All park attendants are very nice and friendly. We will be back next summer

james gillum

Extremely large RV park, seawall views, Playground, water park, lots of trails.

Michelle Varney

Love this place

Stacey Levin

Very disappointed. Everything cost extra. Ants are out of control. Leveling your camper is impossible. Water park rules are to strict. Parents can’t relax. Will not return.

Chris Rodriguez

Went only to drive through and can’t wait to pull the camper in. Very spacious and clean. New park and good wave pool.

Steven Turner

We enjoyed our time here. The camp is nice. Be prepared for ants. The water park is not worth the price and the camp store, small pool, and arcade weren't open when they were supposed to be.

Sir Smitty

The camping area is very clean. The restrooms looked a bit old but they were clean too. Unfortunately the WiFi didn't work as we've been there. Water and power supply worked without any problems. Online reservation and Check-in was easy. There's a nature trail and a waterpark. Unlike some pictures there's no real beach in front of the park, just a small "dune". A real beach is located some miles (approximately a five minute drive) to waveland.

cheryl cosse

We love the wave pool! This trip we discovered you can bring your own floats to the wave pool. The chair type is so much better than the big circle types the park provides, unless your under the age of 10! Kids don't care! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the sewer hookups. It's like trying to send water uphill. They still work, but it's just not ideal.

Lorie craven jacob

This place is beautiful and if you rent one of the camping spots that are not first come first serve it is awesome because there's plenty of room in between campsites to where you feel like you have some privacy. Is beautiful and his part but I find it quite ridiculous that you have to pay money to swim in the the pool that's in the campground and that's a little bit over-the-top I understand paying for the water park but not paying for the pool to send the campgrounds when you already pay to camp there find that a bit extreme and greedy

Lori Humphrey

Don't be fooled by what they call a beach! It's a sandbox barely big enough for a couple toddlers. There's a tiny peninsula of sand that's mostly overgrown. The two families already set up for the day left no room for more. The website is very misleading about beach access. The park map shows beach front along the entire gulf side of the park. IT'S NOT THERE! I even called and spoke with a staff member directly to confirm it was on the beach. It's on a concrete wall to hold back the ocean. I drove 10+ hours to discover I would have to get back in my car to find a beach big enough for more than 6 people. I ultimately cancelled my reservation with the same staff member who booked it to find out you only get a voucher for 50% of your cost to be used at another Mississippi State Park within a year. If a beach is what you're looking for, go somewhere else.

Jim Mc Cormick

One exception. They need to supply garbage cans for premium sites.

Josh Bond

Absolutely beautiful park! Well maintained, very friendly staff, and plenty to do! The disc golf was the highlight of my trip down there! Playing out to the ocean then with the water behind you is just specticacular! 5 out of 5!!

Debbie Gros

Really disappointed. Got a site across from the Gulf. No concrete pads. No sewer. They even dug up and concreted the fire pit and bbq pits. For $48 a night, not really worth it.

Jay Timmerman

We spent New Years weekend. Didn't get to see much of the facilities as we had rain the entire weekend. What we did see looked very we'll kept. Hosts were accommodating. Nice place to stay outside of New Orleans. We drove in for the Sugar Bowl as we didn't want to deal with the hassle and pricing of staying in New Orleans.

AC Chan

This park was a great stop off I-10 as we headed west. We were staying for only a few nights. Full hookup sites were $28/night. We ended up upgrading to beach side sites that were $45/night, available on a first come first serve basis. Our view was great. All we had to do was cross the street to be on the beach. If you are traveling with a rig, I highly suggest you take Lakeshore in as the railroad crossing is flattest there.

Sean Rains

Can’t recommend the overflow camping area if it has rained recently. Asked if there had been any cancellations and fortunately there had been and we relocated for the last 2 nights. Have used Buccaneer many times and find it really very nice there and staff are friendly.

Dustin Diblasi

Pool on cite is 2.5 feet deep, closed during the week and even as a paying camper., they charge to swim. Waterpark is also closed all week. And wifi doesn't work anywhere in the park. Camp store closes early and was out of almost everything. Only one exit, 40 minute trip to and from the closest store. No night security but have to wait to be let in during the day, rediculous.

jo barrett

Well set up, bathroom/showers were very clean.

Camping Man

You have to pay to camp and you have to pay for everything you want to do you even have to pay to swim in the campground pool can you believe that I have been camping all my life and never had to pay an extra $8. To swim in the campground pool . And everything in the game room is out of order you can't have any fun unless you want to pay $60 for a day pass to slide and swim. Really exspinsive place to camp for a state park.

Bob Stewart

Well priced for primitive camping ($16). We turned up after a storm and the ground was still pretty wet which made it difficult to find a camp space. No picnic tables close to primitive site unfortunately

Tyra Favaron

You need to make the pool free in the camping area for campers to use and change the pool hours for that pool and the wavepool. For the amount of money you spend on the the pools after 6 pm there is nothing for the kids to do. So do not close at 6! Needs picnic tables at all sights

boo Johnson

Most of the camping loops are very nice with asphalt pads, with loop next to the primitive are has only gravel pad. Very. Muddy in that loop. My largest complaint are the sand flees. They were terrible.

Bridget C

Nice and clean water park. Beautiful camp grounds for fishing and relaxing.

Shana Saujon

Now this place is off of the beaten path. This makes it a hidden gem. While close to EVERYTHING, you still have privacy with plenty of room to move around. Right on the water!

Taylor Ledlow

I love Buccaneer because it is an amazing place to go camping! It has accessible restrooms and nature trails...I love being able to ride my bike with my family....it also has places where you can put your camper.....the camper spot is in close enough to the woods, so you feel like you are actually camping.......I love it.....check it out today.....

moon_ xo_xo

Because I had so much fun with you my to the camper and relaxing

robert beckham

Nice place to stay in r v clean and quite out by the Jordan River nice family place.

Patrick Wurst

The sites in the back loop were not very good. I understand there had been rain lately but almost getting stuck backing into a camping lot was not worth it. All the othe spaces looked acceptable except the “premium “ near the front. No sewer hookup up there. If the bathrooms and other buildings are elevated to 6 foot then the camping spots shoul have some sort of pad.

Harry Williams

great place to go camping

melody Langley

Park is lovely, except for the nasty hateful young blond woman who works in the office/2nd gatehouse.

robert laurent

Mosquito and flying roches. Also do not leave trash in bag outside overnight wild animals. State parks swimming pool should be free to guest.

Rosie Naquin

Roaches everywhere!! It would have been great except for that.

Chloe Foy

Our family enjoys camping here. The pool and water park are great. We usually spend a day at the beach too. The campground is pretty and the wildlife is very friendly. Only complaint was the termites but bugs are to be expected when camping.

Cara Hefty

tayed here for a Thursday and Friday night in May. Road tripping from the east coast to west coast. I picked this site for the price and waterpark/pools. I did read the reviews about the train track but couldn’t seem to find a route to miss them! So on my way into the park I did have to drive over them but I made it! I’m a 24 ft motor home towing a small SUV. If you have something similar or smaller I think you’ll be fine. When I left I found a route close to the Silver slipper Casino on Lakeshore Drive that got me out of there without dealing with bad tracks so try that! The park was dead most of the week, I only spoke with one staff member that acted like I was a burden for checking in and asking questions. This is when I found out the waterpark was closed which was okay (that meant less crowds) but the pool was also closed... which this was better communicated on their website and someone would have mentioned it during the 2 times I called before. I kept my spot in the last loop which is all gravel by the primitive camping because it had shade and a ton of space for my dogs to run around in (without bothering anyone else) I spoke with one other couple that had only stayed there for the park and also was surprised to hear the pool was closed, they ended up leaving early. Both sets of women’s bathroom showers were covered in mosquitos. I don’t know what the deal was but you couldn’t take a shower due to the amount of them swarming you. Bathrooms were large with 4 showers each and plenty of toilets. The beach view spots did look nice! The staff member said I was free to move to any open spot if I didn’t like mine so I checked these out. If I had to stay again I would stay in the beach view area. It’s basically a large lawn with gravel that faces a small ride and then the water. The power lines do hum like a previous review mentioned. Oh and the train will rock you!! If you do stay in the last loop in the gravel you will hear the train at least 4 times a day and it is so close you can feel the vibrations in the ground and in your RV! I didn’t mind it to much as I saw it as an adrenaline rush but you will not sleep with that going by! Ha FYI: I am a solo traveler with 2 dogs so I am biased. This park may be perfect for families with kids once the park is open.

brian greenwald

Lots of fun things for kids to do

David Mahan

Good, but the was closed, water park was open if you pay 19.00 per person . it may be good for kids, it's knot for older people!!!!

Darrell Ferguson

I would rate at 5 stars, but a couple of issues. First, stupid rules at this park don't allow senior discounts. Also, no refunds, so if you pay for a week and leave after one you lose your money. Second, the midges can be really bad.

clariese mikell

Clean and we been having our Family reunion there for about 20 years or longer

Heather Evans

It's good, overpriced and way over crowded

Jeremy Gauthreaux

Good place to spend family time!

Jackie Brawner

So far its ok, facilities are nice, kind of small sites, got to pay way to much money for the water park for as little there is to do plus to use the regular pool u also have to pay which is ridiculous. Beach sites are on road/hwy...no sand across so pointless...trees near sites need to be trimmed...bath houses are still hot even with ac

Kevin Ruiz

I go to Buccaneer State Park to play disc golf. It is a decent 18 hole course.

Heidi Luebke

Nice campground with clean facilities including. Laundry. Small beach area nearby.

Phill Adams

Terrific paved sites. A little muddy but it rained for two days prior to arrival. Full hook up and close to the Gulf.

Raymond Marziale

Great discgolf course

Chris Terry

Nice facilities. Reasonable prices. Private in the off season.

Zoila Wilcox

Awesome place to have fun with the family.

Gypsy Reign Knight

Primitive camping here was amazing, great spots to relax, only downfall you can hear the train come through. The atmosphere is amazing, lots of places for RV PARKING and children to play, tons of stuff to do for all ages.

Wonderful place for the family, lots of fun. Water park, swimming pools and other attractions closed down after Labor Day. Other than that was a great stay.

Daren Lowery

We had a great weekend, camping.

Sam Nicholas

Great place. I'd make it my second home if I could!

Misty Hodge

Would be a awesome little park if they took the time to.clean up the landscaping around the sites.

Moving forward towards the future!

Bugs are bad early! But the park is a nice location!

So our camping experience here at the park has been very sad and very unexpected. We came here because I booked our site months in advance thinking the water park and pool would be available for my 7 year old daughter to enjoy all week. Once we arrived on a Saturday we were informed the water park is only open on the weekends and the pool had the same hours. Well my husband and daughter went to the pool Saturday to swim and was told the lifeguard left because there were not enough people. Sunday when we tried the pool again we were told the had no lifeguard. The beach is closed and we are unable to even get into the water here which was expected that’s why I chose a place with other swimming options. We have been here for a few days now and I’ve found numerous cockroaches in my camper!!! I began reading more reviews online and this is apparently a big problem here. I’m very very upset!!!! I now have to treat my entire camper with pesticides and I have to live in this for this next year as a travel nurse in Colorado. I could have went down the road 30 miles and actually have a pool for my daughter to swim in since we can’t get in the water at the beach. Why is this not mentioned in the what to expect section????? Why would I come to a campground that has cockroaches?!??!!!?? That’s absolutely ridiculous!!!!!! DO NOT CAMP HERE!!!!! Oh to make everything way worse stuck in your camper not enjoying the amenities....WiFi doesn’t work at all and hasn’t in a long time so absolutely zero service for everything!!!!

had a blast watching grandkids play and enjoy the wave park... great staff.... friendly all the way around.. will be back.

Camped here for 3 weeks. Right off the beach, has s pool & water park. Beautiful & have lots of rv sites & primitive camping.

Roomy sites, quiet at least for the 4 nights we spent there including Father's Day. Avoid site #11 as the sewage hookup is recessed so deep we could not properly attach our sewage hose. Their hookup showed clear evidence of people chipping away at the cement to make clearance for the connector. The park needs to fix it.

Crystal Kilchrist

Well honestly I don't recommend trying to get a fishing license there. They told me that I couldn't get one because I have a ID card. They said ID cards are to easy to get. I had all my legal papers to get one and they denied me. I am from America. I am an American citizen. I am on disability so I guess all of the above isn't qualified enough to be a law abiding citizen. Hmm maybe if I was an illegal alien I could actually get what is not deserved. And yes the girls working in there are unfriendly. And don't bother asking them for directions around the park they either don't know or to busy playing on their phones.

We had booked our time to stay at this park because it said its beach front. Well if you stay in the beach front ones you do have a view of the gulf but there is a street to cross which isn't a big deal except then you have to walk a bit down the road to a very small area that is even considered a beach. Otherwise you have to drive to get to a beach area. The water park wasn't open when we were there but there really isnt that much to it at all. We could see 2 slides and I think a pool. The sites with the ocean view are on grass and it had rained hard so our camper sunk some and we couldnt get it level. The sites farther in to the campground may have been different but we didn't really check them out because we wanted to be by the water. The young lady at the gate was very friendly and helpful. If you had kids with you it may be more inviting but personally we wouldn't stay there again. We actually left after the first day and lost money because once you check in there is no refund. It did look like a well kept camp ground from what we saw. But just be aware when it rains those sites in the grass get saturated and are very unlevel.

Awesome place had a good time!!!waterpark needs to be included when you get a site

Tbe park waa great, very clean. Only problem we had was the pants, not their fault. The only bad thing I can say about it is we were there for Spring Break with the kids but the pools nor arcade was open. Maybe in the future they will take that into consideration and open the pools etc. a little earlier.

Sue Brown

This park is well maintained. The lots are roomy enough to not feel like you are on top of your neighbors. There are coin-operated washers and dryers. The waterpark and wading pools are seasonal. Check the website for operation hours. The front portion next to the gulf does not have sewer hookups. There is a dump station. Holiday weekends are busy. Make a reservation. The bathrooms and showers are nice and plentiful. The park has a nice playground area. There are plenty of areas to grill and relax with family and friends if your interest is day use. There is a fee to enter the park.

Ginger Brockman

It's a great park. With great amenities. Showers, laundry, lots of walking. We come here once a year. It gets really crowded around Madri Gras.

Great place

Stacey Miguez

If u want shade you better go to treasures cove... Treasure cove has fire pits n BBQ pits the bath houses are big and clean!! Pool costs $$ per day per person and closed Mondays and Tuesdays water slides n wave pool u have to pay separate per day... Everything closes at 6 pm. They don't do any activities for kids! Beach's are near by but at the time of our stay they were closed due to algae so this was a wasted trip don't plan on going back!!!

Derek Barrows

Clean park, well maintained, cheap prices, with plenty of recreational activities within walking distance for most families. Campground staff setup very fun events for holidays such as Halloween, and Easter which I have attended. I'm sure there are others I haven't attended yet but would go to any with an easy mind knowing it would probably be a great time. There is bathrooms at every round about, a community swimming pool in the summer, a water park in the summer just outside the campground, as well as a free well maintained frisbee golf course and hiking trail. Did I mention it all within walking distance for most to the beach!!!! Very cool. I give this campground 5 stars for RV and pull behind campers. But only 4 stars for the lack of primitive camping locations. I

We travel in a truck camper. The access is very good. All hookups worked well. Site was level. Campsites are divided with foliage. Stayed over the weekend and it was very full, but not noisy or crazy. Bathhouse was modern, with good individual showers, plenty of hot water, could have been a little cleaner. Used the online reservation system, worked fine. Staff was pleasant. Lots of water amenities for families in the park, not much beach access.

John Webber

No wifi or cable tv

Doug Thompson

Melody Fick

Great Park for family and kids of all ages! The prices were very reasonable. The food was okay (not great but not awful) The bathroom facilities were very clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Now for the downside,

Did not stay however drove through, large park about every kind of sites from shady to gulf view. Large waterproof on site. What we saw we liked.

Karen s

This is an absolutely beautiful park right on the gulf coast. The lots at the front with ocean view don't have fire pits or picnic tables but it is a trade off for the view and access to the beach area. The other lots were a very nice size especially considering that most private parks barely give you room for your RV/trailer. Some of the lots were very open while other had trees and shrubbery, it's all in what you prefer. The washroom were clean and well places for access. Although we didn't use the pool or laundry facilities they were clearly well maintained.

Jeremy Wilson

Beautiful setting, great people, lots of activities, most facilities are shut down after labor day but still a fantastic park. We will be back!

Debbie Bourgoyne

We love this park. We have been coming here since the first weekend it reopened after Hurricane Katrina.. The manager has been here for 30 years and makes sure everything is taken care of. Groceries and restaurants are close and overall it is just very relaxing.!

Barry Hebert

Water park is lame!

chasca23

The primitive campground is uncomplicated, which is great. You park and pitch your tent wherever you see fit. However, the other review is true, this park is cockroach infested, and now I have to spray in my car, as the cockroaches came with me in my tenting supplies, unfortunately. The other tent campers were loud and unruly, but the ranger had the window in his truck rolled up, so he just drove on by like he wasn't aware. Some of the RV campers played extremely loud music and acted in an otherwise disrespectful manner to those seeking refuge in nature. The train went by 4 times in 12 hours, at a deafning decibel level. This is not a park to enjoy nature, it is however, convenviently located near the city. The bathrooms were not constantly attended to on the weekends.

James Sledge

Very clean facility, helpful and very nice staff

(Buccaneer State Park Mississippi Waveland )NO pool open since kids are back in school. We booked 3 nights 12-14 Aug. No refund. We where not disclosed pool is closed. Told after we paid. Can not use the beachdo to algae No Wi-fi. No Laundry room. Bath house old, no hot water in shower stall. No trash cans closed by.They call this a "Primium Park". Save you money. Lots of bugs. Google takes you over a high train track. Watch out so your camper does not bottom out.

Lisa Boughton

Had nephews 12th birthday there under the large pavilion I think there was 6 picnic tables - we brought Lazer tag guns everyone had fun the little kids had fun on the playground it is very nice

buddy wallace

Love this park, one of the 1st parks we stayed at when we went full time.

Moon Cloud

Fun waterpark! Yes, it's smaller, but that's great when I want to let the kids have their fun. I can watch over them while letting them have some independence. There are plenty of lifeguards and workers. The day we went, there were some people there, but not too many. Just perfect. The wave pool is fun, and a fond memory from my childhood.

kevin entrup

Great place! Wave pool is amazing! Life guards and all staff are the best.

Robert Crosby

Great fishing spot

Mark Eckman

Buccaneer is a great place. Clean with excellent facilities and play areas. There is a water park also

Jalisa Fairley

The rain chased us away too early. But we had a Blast. Not to crowded(not sure if it was the prediction of the weather or not, since it didn't last) just the right amount. The wave pool was so relaxing and exciting. The water slides were a thrill.

Frances Young

Spent 2 weeks, it is beautiful

Sudesna Berg
