Great escape from the busy seating in traffic life

Bienville Forest has great facilities and lits of different areas to explore. There are currently some great examples of prescribed fire application and southern pine beetle caused mortality if you are interested.

Loved the tranquility, the diversity of the forest, the wildlife, and i especially loved the two sheriffs that helped me get my car out of the mud at 1:30 in the morning! I would however NOT recommend following the Google maps directions to the GPS marker/baloon for Bienville National Forest and if you do decide that is where you want to go, don't expect anything like a welcome center or a visitor center or anything at all but a very misleading muddy pit that you definitely shpuld not try turning your car around in unless you have 4 wheel drive. My google navigational lady took me down a gravel and dirt road and as it was after midnight and very dark and had recently rained I got my car stuck in the mud while I was giving up on my hopes of finding a plausible camping spot for the remainder of the night... Now, that was just a series of bad decisions combined with poor planning on my part and no reflection whatsoever on the beauty of the national forest itself. I would recommend doing a bit more research before just selecting the park while scanning Google maps before deciding to venture out there but it looked like a great wilderness area and I did see and hear lots of wildlife while I was awaiting rescue

I grew up near this forest, it's always been nice with limited traffic in the summer, the occasional hunter in the winter, (myself included). Good hunting, if you know where to set up. Love this area.

It's nice and quiet with great all game hunting. The down side is they have a lot of closed roads and they don't have good road maintenance. So it's rough on your vehicle but it's a good place to hunt.
