We had a great time. The staff is friendly and helpful and the game was a blast even though we didn't escape. We will definitely go back. It is a bit pricey but sometimes you can find coupons on Facebook :)

My son, his girlfriend, and I experienced The Caretaker Room. The employee at the front counter was super nice and very helpful when we were trying to decide which room we wanted. He made us feel very welcome and explained everything in detail. He offered suggestions like getting a locker to put our belongings in during the game and going to the restroom before the game so we would be comfortable once in the room. Once we were in the room, he was very nice when offering clues. We didn't make it to the end, but it was so fun and the employee told us we made it further than most people who chose that particular room. After our time ran out, he offered to show us the rest of the clues if we wanted to see how it ended (unless we wanted to come back and try that room again). We told him we would like that, and he was very kind and showed us the rest of the game in detail. Finally, we went back to the front of the business, and he took our pictures with props for their Facebook page, and we chose a name for our team. He made it super fun and very welcoming. This is the most fun I've had at an escape game because the room was challenging but fun, scary (but not too scary), built with realistic sounds, cool props, lights, and felt real. I'll definitely go back again!

The staff was nice and most of the room was fun, but in several places (2 that I noticed) the puzzles were simply incorrect. One of these errors could be blamed on a previous team tampering with clues, but the other was clearly the fault of the game makers (an "I" with it's bottom serif missing to look like a "T"). At a price point of $35/person for a 1 hour session, I had high expectations that the puzzles would be thoroughly checked at inception and during resets between runs. These expectations were not met.

The escape room that my friends and I took place in today were awesome! It was a challenge (we didn’t escape) but we had a lot of fun in the process. The employee that took care of us was very friendly and very encouraging. It was like a big puzzle with 4 teammates running around. I 100% recommend this place!!!

The escape room was amazing, very creative clues and amazing decorations to make it seem real. The staff was wonderful and very helpful when it came to giving clues. Would recommend bringing multiple people, but even though it was just me and my boyfriend, we had a blast .10/10 recommend!

Myself and five friends decided to try America's Escape Game Oxford because we saw it had a high review rating. A few of us had done escape rooms before, and so we had high expectations going in since the price point was a set $35 per person. This was a mistake. For the price we paid, we could have done 2 whole escape rooms in Memphis. For the price, we did not think the escape room was very innovative. However, we were very impressed with the look of the room itself. We chose to do "The Caretaker," and the room was decorated as if it were a theatrical production. Our biggest complaint is that the puzzles were not hard, so much as annoying and lacking in theme. 15 minutes spent on a jigsaw puzzle in the dark does not make the puzzle hard - it makes it annoying and cheeky. This type of gimmick made us feel cheated out of our time and money. Instead of a fun puzzle, we were stuck with a silly and annoying jigsaw like that. We didn't want to spend $35 each to do a jigsaw in the dark. We expected creative puzzles that fit the feel of a cabin in the woods. Instead, the puzzles were basic, meant to take too much time, and thrown at us all at once. The room's completion rate is low because of this, and not because it is necessarily difficult. Trying not to spoil the room, the unthemed and out-of-place puzzles included a crossword and the aforementioned jigsaw (it was a magnetic wall puzzle). These were silly, basic, and not worth the $35. A few of the other puzzles were cool, but overall we were not impressed. During a codebreaker puzzle, some of the symbols were ambiguous ("Is that a smudge, a zero, or an eleven?"), which completely ruined the point of the codebreaker. Also, we have done escape rooms before and so were not expecting to have our hands held through the room, but the Caretaker was exceptionally directionless. It felt like every answer to every puzzle was a key or combination on a lock, of which there were at least six in one room alone. Nothing was more annoying than solving a puzzle, but then asking ourselves, "Okay, but there are five/six locks, do we really have to plug this code into all of them?" Yes, we did, and we didn't know why. It was just random. This was not fun or exciting. This just wasted time and patience. There was also no clarity as to what our objective was for each puzzle. We felt like we were just randomly solving obstacles, instead of feeling like we were working towards an end goal. The puzzles did not feel like they rolled from one to another, but rather felt like disconnected stations that served to just open another lockbox or crate somewhere in the room. At least mix it up a little. It was not fun, and the story of the room was lost due to this disjointedness. We felt like there was no clear goal to the room. We weren't trying to escape, but trying to find the Caretaker, but also trying to break into a room, but were also curing a disease? We had no idea what our "quest goal" was. Every other puzzle room we have done, the objective was cut-and-dry, which gave us direction and a clear goal. In the end, my friends and I give the escape room a 2/5 because of its high price, lack of story direction, and lack of creative puzzle design, though the props and aesthetic of the room itself were gorgeous. Also, the room was mostly dark despite being given a few dim flashlights in the beginning, so if you can't see or have bad night vision, I wouldn't recommend this one.
