Although it's nice to have an escape room right on in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, our experience here was slightly lacking. We attempted the James Bond/spy/The Agency room. This was our first room at this location but compared to other companies in the area, this was the least fun we've had. Beware that during this entire 60 minutes, the James Bond theme music plays in the background..... It gets rather annoying really quickly. Because of its location, it's nice to have the option while downtown, but we wouldn't go out of our way to stop here again.

Well run and challenging, with an exciting (but not scary) level of intensity. We had a team of 7 middle and high school youth and 4 adults, and finished within the time frame (but benefited from a few hints.) Everyone would love to go back soon! We did The Apartment.

Not familiar with the cities or how to find addresses there, so my group and I were running around trying to find this place (as we would have been right on time for our game if we had found it right away). We finally found it, and were about 10 minutes late. Since they time you for the game, they were so gracious with us and paused our timer for us to give us the full experience. Everything was explained very well and efficiently. While in the room, they give you helpful hints when they notice you are stuck. Overall, it was an incredibly fun experience and will definitely go back there again to try out their other rooms!

This was honestly such a fun experience. We did 'The Dig' which was a great themed room to start with. I know that there are less theme centered options, yet it was nice to have the continuity, at least this first round. It was also only an hour (there are longer options) which was also a good amount of time for us first timers (not too much pressure!) No one in our group had been to an escape room before, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Beyond the activity, the employees at the Minneapolis location were very nice, and ultimately made the experience even better. If you like puzzles or are looking for something other than a movie to spend an evening, this would be a great option.

Our work team had a blast in the Appartment and the Dig rooms. Both were not easy! Our guide gave us clues when we needed them. There were lots of surprises and turns and twists to the puzzles. LOVED IT!

Very fun room and just the right difficulty for 4 people. We finished the Dig scenario with 3 and a half minutes to spare. The cluemaster was kind and adequate briefing us prior to entering the room. He was able to give us the right clues to still make us think but pull us out of being stuck on a critical step. Would highly recommend for anyone who has an interest in puzzles and thinking outside the box. Communication is essential.

This was our second time doing an escape room and we really had a blast solving puzzles and racing to beat the clock. Our room, The Dig, had puzzles that were the right amount of challenging to get your brain working. Really loved all the fun surprises and elements in our room. Can't wait to go back and try the other rooms and see if we can continue our winning streak. (Thank you Brian for being a great host!)

First time trying to solve the puzzle of escaping the room and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. Admittedly, when you first walk in the room, it can be overwhelming not knowing where to begin but you quickly learn to start exploring and moving everything. Before the game, the hostess was very helpful explaining the Do’s and Don’ts of the game. Overall, a lot of fun and would return to play the other rooms. One hour goes by very quickly so best advice is to divide and conquer.

Excellent escape room - we were in the Bond, Secret-Agent themed room and had an excellent time with a large group (9). Puzzles were well constructed and the timing was impeccable - we managed to escape with only 3 minutes remaining of our initial 60.

Great experience with ETR in Minneapolis. We tried agency room and weren't disappointed. Awesome stuff, that kept us on the track just enough to keep moving through. It was first ETR ever done and I'm very satisfied looking to try other places as well.

I’ve done the apartment and the dig and had a wonderful time each time. The puzzles aren’t “hard” but they require plenty of creativity and good observation skills. Our team was a blend of experienced puzzle solvers and complete novices and we all had a blast. Everyone got to contribute and we talked about how much fun we had for days. Exceeded my expectations!! I have never done anything like this and I wasn't too excited about our Saturday afternoon reservation. I have to say I was beyond surprised with how much I enjoyed this experience. We did "The Dig" and it was really cool. There were so many unexpected surprises and you really have to think. I became very invested in helping our team succeed. Unfortunately, we were one clue away from completing our escape :( I look forward to coming back to try this again.

This is my second experience with an escape room. It was fun, but we didn't escape. The clues were definitely hard to figure out. There were too many distractions in my opinion, which made trying to figure out the clues harder. When we received clues from the game master it was helpful. The room is not impossible. We did get to the very last clue. Overall fun if you are really good at finding the connections.

How are there so many positive reviews for this place? Stupid cliche puzzles that could be cool if they were properly executed. If this room were free, it still would not be worth the $6 parking fee. Do not judge escape rooms by this experience. I believe this is the worst place we have ever done (60+ rooms)

We've done many escape rooms where we're from so we decided to try one out in Minneapolis while we were in town. We stayed downtown and this one was the closest to us. Booking the room was quite odd as they want you to pay the full amount to book not just a deposit like we're used to. We chose to do 'The Apartment' because that was the only one available at the time we could get. Found it weird how you can keep belongings like cellphones and bags and actually use them to solve clues. The clues had no flow to them what so ever and sometimes you wouldn't even know if you solved anything until you see something opening. It sucks because if you're working on 2 clues at once you dont really know which one opened it. Some of the clues were already solved when we got there too. (the safe was already opened) and we got that clue further along on how to open the safe, so that was a waste of time. For the amount paid, this room wasn't very good.

Tons of fun. We did The Dig escape room. I am an avid escapee, this room is my 12th and I really appreciate the themeing and technology usage in the room. We only had one hiccup where we saw a portion with wires that we thought we werent supposed to touch, but ended up needing to touch at some point. I wish the wires were hidden so we didn't have that confusion, but other than that it was a great experience and will be coming back for the other two rooms soon.

Disclaimer: I work for an escape room but have no affiliation with this business. I have also played more than 40 rooms and typically rate them at 5 stars. Compared to all of the great rooms in the Twin Cities, I was rather disappointed. The themes and technology in the rooms were fun but the puzzles, story, and clues were all below average. I played The Dig and The Agency. The Dig had one puzzle that took someone in my group (has 30 escape rooms completed and is well above average at puzzles) 27 minutes to solve. It was not difficult, just very time consuming. She was frustrated she missed half of the room doing just that. Twice she asked if there was some type of clue and was ignored. She finally completed it and nothing happened. We asked again about it and if it did anything and no response. Finally I loudly said 'oh we must just have to force this open' just to get their attention and right away I got a message saying to not force anything. I then asked immediately after what that puzzle did and no response. Later I found out it was used for something but idk why the game master didn't tell us that it was needed later after there was clear frustration. No game master should just ignore the players. There were a few other puzzles in the room (I won't be specific and give spoilers) that in my professional opinion needed hints/clues from the game master to solve that did not logically make sense. There were some cool technology uses but the entire experience was frustrating. After we completed the room, the game master said 'ya most people get frustrated'. If that's the case then the puzzles need to be changed. The Agency was better but still had major frustrations. The puzzles and items don't always connect well. There is outside knowledge or guessing necessary to complete. Once again puzzles needed hints because they don't make sense on their own. The game master was much better this time but still seemed like most clues needed two or three revisions to fully get the concept of the puzzle. With all of the quality places in the Twin Cities this is not some place I'd go. It is not worth the Groupon discount especially when you have to pay for parking which offsets that discount.

Had a blast with the family after Christmas! We were able to buy this experience through Groupon, so it was very reasonably priced. We loaded up and spent some time downtown eating and enjoying a winter day. Parking on the street was easy and convenient; however, we did this on a Wednesday evening, so car traffic and foot traffic were light. Even though we failed to find all the keys, we had a GREAT time trying.

Incredibly fun. This was the third and most fun escape room that I have been too. The puzzles were very fun and different. Also, the technology that they used was very interesting. We did the agency and I would recommend this to anyone. We had wesley (I think that is how you spell it) as the host and he was very good. The clues that we had were still very cryptic and did not feel like he was handing you the answer. We will be coming back as soon as we can.

Amazing! We had a group of 12 and chose to do the apartment escape room. It was everyone’s first time, but we managed to escape with 4 seconds to spare! Too close! The guy that was helping us gave us lots of useful clues for us newbies, but didn’t ruin the fun of the puzzles. The difficulty of this room was a 3 out of 5. It was not too bad, it just took us a while because we were overthinking things. Totally recommend for a group of beginners! P.S. the place was relatively hard to find in downtown Minneapolis. It is literally hidden between two buildings. Follow the directions they give you sent in your email!!!

We had decorations incorporated into the Apartment for the birthday gal, which was a fun thing for the Escape Room crew to do for us! My review is for "The Dig" only as I haven't done the other ones. I've done quite a few rooms all over the twin cities. This particular room has a very time consuming and frustrating puzzle that holds the rest of the game hostage and really doesn't "do" much once it's done. Other puzzles along the way definitely require game master assistance which I don't like. You should be able to solve it without help. I'd really recommend taking "that" puzzle out as it doesn't add to the experience and frustrates the group with everyone else just standing around. We ended up getting out but I'd say this room needs a refresh with a bit more thought to how the clues line up and if people can connect the dots on their own like most rooms.

Escape the Room Minneapolis was better than ever expected! Myself along with four others completed our “escape” and enjoyed every challenging minute of it. Would recommend 5/5 !

I have done a lot of escape rooms. And this one by far is the worst one I have ever done. The puzzles don't have anything to do with the theme of the room. When given a clue, the clue is so confusing you can't possibly decipher it.

This was my first experience in an escape room, and my husband’s second. We had a fantastic time and are happy to say that we did ‘escape the room’ (with 19 seconds to go)! There are 3 rooms to choose from and we are definitely coming back this summer to try another room on my husband’s birthday! Everyone was excited for us after we beat the room - excellent staff, worth the experience. Bonus suggestion: park in the ramp they suggest on website.

This was so much fun! I went in a group of six in an apartment themed room and the puzzles were the perfect difficulty for us, along with the hints given to us throughout the game. We finished with exactly one second left! Would definitely go to another

Fun! Definitely on-par with other Escape Rooms I've been too. The quality of play was detailed and encouraged teamwork. I also appreciate that they offer different themes to encourage return visits. My only suggestion, book early as rooms tend to fill quickly considering the central location on Nicollet. Personally, I had a lot more fun than expected -- 5 stars!

I think it's a great escape room. The puzzles in the one I had were challenging, and though we had a little bit of help, we were able to get out before the time expired!
