REVIEWS OF Hocking Hills State Park IN Michigan

Chad Musselman

The state park is awesome but this is more of a review of the cabins. I was pleasantly surprised how nice they were. They're basically a small two bedroom apartment. Full kitchen, really nice bathroom, and the beds are comfortable. If you're not really into camping then stay in these cabins, you'll feel at home... They also have cable TV.

Joe Rammel

This was a very nice park. I have lived in Ohio my whole life without coming to Hocking until now. Such a contrast to the flat farmland in Western Ohio where I live. I personally love looking at the geology of the park. We saw several waterfalls, the biggest being Cedar Falls, but in August the water flow is minimal, it would be very impressive in the spring I imagine. All the main trails are easy, with some even being paved and handicap accessible. Be sure to closely control children, as there are many places where a fatal fall can occur. I was amazed how many people break the rules of no wading and keeping on trails.

Graham Stiver

Beautiful park with lots of nice trails. I would recommend it to anybody who likes hiking.

alip chatterjee

Nice drive from Mason, Ohio (if you are a resident here). Takes around 2 hours. Nice place to visit during summer as the place is cool and green. Park has a awesome track for regular hiking. Nothing extremely difficult for a regular person. A awesome place to bring your pet. I would recommend anyone who likes a little adventure with family without having to spend a lot of time to travel

Jeffrey Blount

The trails were awesome, however the layout and maintenance of the campsites: specifically the full hookup area needs serious work. Sites need new pavement, gravel and better spacing between them. It's a nice park and definitely has potential to be a great place but needs to keep up with maintenance better and redesign its area so that campers are not on top of each other.

Josh Brannan

The park is amazing and the different trails offer exciting new adventures. This is a place I wouldn’t recommend you let your kids explore on their own, it can be very dangerous for young children and infants.

Adam Celichowski

Omg!!! Beautiful, fun, relaxing, and peaceful... Countless waterfalls and intriguing rock formations, deep gorges, and tall cliff walls. This is a must see for everyone, but beware and prepared for hours of both visually and physical stunning features... How this park is not federally funded is beyond me, we must preserve this land for many more centuries... I will return to Hocking Hills State Park for another venture into their magical world of mother nature. This was my favorite place of my family's 7 day, 2400 mile vacation... Included are just a few photos that lightly display all the beauty to be beheld during your visit...

Jamus Elkins

Absolutely shocked how great it was. Cant believe this is only 1 1/2 hours away and it's this good. We loved it. Beautiful scenery and great trails. Campground really good too.

Phillip Gill

This is a wonderful state park and everybody in the Ohio area should visit. Hocking Hills features all varieties of trails from very easy to more difficult and to all sorts if great sites. They have some amazing waterfalls to see and really neat rock formations that you can't see in many places throughout Ohio. I always enjoy coming here and I hope to return again soon.

Patricia Muszynski

Amazing place to hike and explore! this place is truly amazing so many great things to see in 1 park. Plan ahead and bring lots of water as well as hiking sticks. Their are a lot of steps and hills to climb so be prepared for a leg day.

Pura 301

The parks are just amazing. My family and I go camping every year to celebrate my dad's Birthday. It is a family tradition. We camped at the walk in camp site and visited all 7 stated parks that was there. Great hiking and enjoyed the sites and experiences. We had picnics and spent great quality family time. It is clean and safe.

Wayne Walk Jr

Review for Summer 2018. Even though it rained every day on us we had a good time. Trails were in good shape. The waterfalls and rock formations were very nice to explore.

Tracey Lynn

Beautiful Lots of hiking trails. Difficulty level intermediate. Bring shoes with good grip. Lots of mud on steps and near edges of cliffs.

Joyce Gindlesperger

If you're a nature lover of any kind, this park is for you. Great trails and beautiful views. Unfortunately we went at the end of September and no significant rain for weeks so all the waterfalls were dry. But it was still amazing. We plan to go back in the spring to see all the falls in their full glory.

Alyssa Dye

It is absolutely breathtaking! Wrong time of the year for the falls to have water, but thats nature. The trails are easy to follow and if u like the exercise, there's plenty!

Monica McCullough

Such great hiking trails! Great for all levels of hikers and for all ages. There are benches along the way too. Be sure to bring bug spray!

Erica Oakes

My husband and I took our 18 month old son and we all loved it. There were several shorter trails we were able to do as a family and didn't half to carry our son the entire time. We stayed at Comfort in the Woods cabin and it was perfect. I honestly can't wait to come back.

Jesse DiBella

I have not been to every state park but this one has to be the cleanest and most friendly park. The waterfalls were awesome and the trails were great for the family.we have a 11 year old and a 2 and a half year old and they both had a blast. There was lots of wildlife and beautiful views. Can't wait to visit again.

Vanissa

The hike to Old Man's Cave & Cedar Falls was short. The visitors center is really nice. Lots of information. There are lots of stairs to climb. The beauty & the history is impressive. Lots to see! The falls were dried up when we were there but it was still so beautiful. Not as peaceful as some hikes due to the large crowds but plenty to see & the general store has the worst food.

Mark Hanss

Beautiful and well maintained especially considering the very high traffic of the attractions and trails. The Gorge Overlook-Buckeye Trail loop is a great way to see the varying sights of the area and get a moderate day hike in. If you bring dogs like I did, expect to keep them on leash the whole time due to the number of other visitors and the precipitous drops.

Nathan Jones

The cabins here were like a hotel room, since we had 2 little kids this was great. We talked a few of the trails and they were well maintained and marked. The views and nature experience were one of the best I have seen in a while. There is extremely little cell service, which wasn't an issue for us but others might be an issue if they can't let go of society for a while.

Evan Erwin

Family friendly hiking. My 3 yr old was able to walk the path to old man's cave. Beautiful sites, nice and cool in summer. Always in shade. No mobile phone service.

Amy VanGundy

Love it here, it's one of my family's favorite places to spend a day together. It's absolutely beautiful and we'll kept.

P K

As in the past, we had a wonderful time camping at the park. Our niece and nephews enjoyed repelling off a 75' ledge under the supervision of trained repellers for about 5 hours on the first day. Both the adults and kids had a great time this weekend.

Kenneth Standifer

God did a special job making this natural landscape. The Ohio state park system does a good job creating trails. The Cedar Falls trail is ADA accessible..

Robin MommyofTwo

Beautiful area with lots of great hiking options! Be mindful that wildlife is out there and be smart. For example, we waited for a Timber Rattler to cross off the path before proceeding!

Lacie Chevalier

Very fun and beautiful place to visit. I try to come here every year and it never fails to amaze me. So many different trails and sights to see. Fun for all ages! Highly recommend

Zarah Oliver

Best Place in Ohio hands down. First time I had been in over 10 years the vistor nature center is AMAZING all the bridges and walk ways are so nice and recently updated I would recommend anyone to go anyday anytime.

Michael Mc

A great getaway from the day to day. The first parts of the trails are a bit crowded but once you get about 2 miles out, you are bound to be by yourself.

Pat D place to be

Really cool scenery here! I went on a Saturday though and way too busy. I recommend going on a weekday

Jessica Herbert

Great hiking area! Lovely waterfalls and great green colors everywhere. I love coming here. The 3 mile hike has so much visuals to offer. My favorite is the waterfall that opens into a small pond and dumps into the devils bathtub. I could spend all day there.

Amy Evans

There are so many parts to explore in Hocking Hills, which makes it an awesome day or weekend trip. It never gets old, each and every time i find a new area to explore. The park is set up so that it's easy to navigate but also still extremely naturalistic. The park is always very clean. Highly recommend checking it out whether your a local or planning to make the trip from afar, you won't be disappointed!

Michael Sponsler

Beautiful natural area. It is a short .4 mile hike down to the falls to a beautiful valley with sandstone rock formations, hemlock trees and of course the waterfall.Judging by the worn paths, I imagine it can be very crowded on some days, but it was not crowded the day I visited. It Is well maintained by the DNR as many of the facilities appeared to be new. The restroom was clean and surprisingly modern and spacious. The only negative was when somebody walked by smoking a cigarette that spoiled the sweet scent of the woods.

Kevin Bullins

Great place for hiking very friendly trails. Awesome caves, great views. Just don't do anything courageous, read about far too many accidents happening

ADITYA KOTHARI

Me and my friends hiked from Cedar Falls to Old Man's Cave and back, and we loved it! Trail is a little tricky at some places (especially if wearing sneakers), but really good. We didn't think the falls are exceptional compared to some other falls we have hiked. Still had a good time :)

Terri Hunt

A great time getting back to nature. We loved Cedar Falls!

Felicia Legg

I felt like this place was well taken care of. All the workers were helpful and polite. The view from bottom and the top of the trails is worth it. Wonderful man-made steps and natural fixtures blend together to create a place straight out of mystical fiction.

Anne Norman

Nice state park, we camped in the full hook up section I believe it was site 43. It wasn't a huge site but it was ok. You could here a motor running all the time because of the water treatment plant. Walking to old man's cave is possible without even having to drive even though we would drive down the hill. Pool was nice and cold.

Christine Sutton

Been coming since I was a kid. Great place to disconnect! The new visiter center is amazing too! Definitely need more parking though but still love going

Joe P

Absolutely gorgeous. Stayed at get-away cabins and I'll leave a proper review there. Went to ash waterfall, and old man's cave. I HIGHLY recommend old man's cave. One of the coolest natural wonders I've ever seen. Head to Hocking hills if you're looking for an amazing place to get away from it all, in the middle of a beautiful forest!

Michael Michael

We hiked Old Man Cave, loved the whole experience. The water was down, so I recommend hiking the Hocking Hills while the water is higher! Devils bathtub was especially neat. Though we did not camp overnight I would suggest the cabins they looked really cool. We are planning to go back during the autumn foliage.

Michael Hartman

Absolutely gorgeous park! There were tons of people the last time I went but great place to visit when the leaves are changing on the September/November time frame. Lots of hiking trails. I've never been camping here but I've heard it's great. I know it might be hard to avoid because of vacation time, but summer is the worst time to visit. Spring and fall are great because the humidity is low and temperatures are very comfortable. Spring might be a bad time for those who suffer from allergies. Do not get caught out here after the sun sets. When the sun is going down, the woods are dark about an hour before sunset. It's so hard to see. And if it's the end of the day, your cell phone is probably almost dead, which means no flashlight either for the general/light hiker.

Tammy Linn

First time to hocking hills and after staying at this awesome campground that also has the cutest cabins also available I will definitely be coming back. The campground also has their own set of trails that are just as pretty as the main trails at hocking hills parks. The staff was amazing and very helpful. They offer free firewood for campers. Campsites are nice and shaded. It was just beautiful. Love

Amy Flaugher

Hocking hills is my favorite state park. The trails all lead to breathtaking views. There are options for short hikes or trails that take a half day. Be wary, you'll be using stairs on pretty much any trail, so be expecting that. Wear proper shoes for hiking so you don't risk rolling an ankle.

Daniel Schlueter

A beautiful piece of Hocking Hills at Old Man's Cave! Walking through gorgeous rock formations and experiencing one speck of God's created earth with awestruck amazement as you walk your eyes up the rock walls surrounding you then travel down the trail, eyes on the horizon peering through shaded forest valleys as you continue to Cedar Falls. Absolutely stunning!

John Simcox

Fantastic outdoor experience. Fit for hikers of all skill level, even if you've never hiked before! Also great for experienced hikers as well. Plenty of hikes to go on, plenty of things to do around the area. Accessible for those with dogs, kids, disabilities. While you're in the area, I'd say a visit to the Muddy Boots petting-zoo is a must!

Kenneth York

Beautiful place to go sight seeing but they should have a swim at your own risk policy.

chintan parikh

Hocking Hills... one word for this place is : “Panoramic”. Really nice one day picnic spot with family. Just 2 hour drive from Cincinnati. The great thing about hocking hills is, everyone from the age of 2 to 99 will enjoy this place. People with disabilities or choose not to walk can drive up directly to see the fall. People who want to do hiking can choose another path to go and hike to see the same fall! This place is a Picturesque, uninterrupted gift of nature! Definitely visit this place. Please pack your own food. You will not get any good restaurants for 15 miles. Also fill up your gas tank before entering the park!

Anna Plathe

Very beautiful trails, lots of fun. I went on Old Man's Cave & then through the upper and lower falls. The trail is amazing and not challenging.

M Chic

Who knew?! This park is a hidden gem in Ohio... I hiked from cedar falls to old mans cave. Wow! Was probably my favorite hike to date! Some pretty difficult parts for me as I walk with a cane but I held my own.. cannot wait to come back!

Karina Stephens

One of the most beautiful places in Ohio in my opinion! A must see. I've been here numerous times and still manage to see/find something new to explore every time!

Scott Rubin

I've been visiting this park since the mid-90s and I'm surprised more people don't take advantage of it here in Central Ohio. They continue to make improvements to the trails and to the Visitor Center and it really is a fantastic resource. Admission and parking are free and there was a full day's worth of things to see and do.

Tanman324

Such a pretty place to walk around. Great place to walk your dog. Wonderful for exercise.

Mike Steinke

This is a definite destination to do in Ohio. I've been going here for years. the hiking trails are well maintained. Nothing better then walking through nature and seeing how amazing she is. I strongly recommend going and enjoying all that this nature area has to offer.

George Bogart

Nice hiking trails but camp ground needs more full hookups. People are nice, bath house was good but need longer shower curtains so water stays in shower not on floor of shower room!!

Mikayla

What a beautiful place to be! My family and I had an awesome adventure on every trail there. The trails offer something for everyone. You could hike the long trails to each cave. Or you could drive around and hike a shorter distance. Whichever you prefer you will be greeted with amazing views. We also played a few holes on the disc golf course. That was pretty nice as well.

Zach Carter

Camp grounds definitely need to be alot bigger. Barely any place to put our stuff and we had 2 lots side by side. Also, when we book we called and asked if the pool would still be open when we would be staying (August 17-24) and we were told yes. A big reason why we book there. We got there and they decided to close the pool without notifying anyone. Highly advise they work on staffing and lot layout.

Jennifer Szuter

Astonishing geological gem! This park is a must-see for ALL, from families to young adults and romantics, including all ages. The mammoth sized caves, waterfalls, natural stone walls and footbridges, rock formations and wonderful botanical variety combine to make this special park extraordinary.

Isis Woltz

In my hometown. Sometimes you take the thing you live so close to for granted. Very beautiful place and even got married out in the caves

Mir K

A neat place to experience. Just be aware...no cell phone service in some areas.

Bea R-S

Beautiful and family friendly. Great hiking trails and facilities. Tent camping at its best. There are beautiful cottages available too. A must-see of Ohio State Parks system.

omar albayer

Definitely one of my favorite places to visit with kid and wife. We go her multiple times through out the summer and enjoy it every time.

FORT GARCIA

I went the long way to get there but it was worth it. If you jog the trail, might take about 30 mins cause of wet and slippery areas. Or you can park at the hocking hills parking lot and just walking down a stair way. Very pretty

Susan Deschenes

Nice family vacation. Beautiful and peaceful. Plenty of hiking trails that are well maintained.

Olivia Woodland

This place is gorgeous! Hocking Hills is up there with Niagara Falls as my favorite natural phenomena! Be sure to stop at Ash cave and Old Man's cave.

Maryann Beman

Hocking Hills remains gorgeous, pristine, magestic and wonderful in all measures. The new visitors center just opened this season...to replace the one list to fire. The Center is TERRIFIC ! If I could change one thing, I would have liked more ways to judge the trails for accessibility. Families with little bitty kiddos were guessing....as were folks with minor orthopedic issues. We want folks to be able to see as much if the features and landscape as possible, not over-reach, or stay back from a trail because if uncertainty from vague Info. In this age, it would be easy and inexpensive to use tech to give visitors this info.

Ashley Rushing

My family loves to come here. Always stay on the marked trails. They are there for your safety. For many people are having accidents because they simply won't follow instruction. Although beautiful this place can be dangerous. Gorgeous views and so wondrous caves and waterfalls.

Ron Chamberlain

Awesome place to visit and explore what mother nature has to offer right on Ohio!

Pamela Pinkerman

Beautiful hiking! A place I could visit often. Definitely the place to take children they will love exploring the entire Hocking Hills area.

Coach B

This place is way to awesome to be in Ohio lol. You will enjoy yourself here. GO!

Christy Pearson

Such a beautiful place! The hike was fairly easy. I recommend going early before it gets crowded.

jennifer atwell

My friend and I spent all day between Old Man's Cave and Ash cave with 4 kids and had a great day. Old Man's is a little more strenuous but doable even with children. The falls is gorgeous. Ash Cave is much easier and just a simple straight walk to the cave/falls. Make sure to wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty and a towel!

Patty Bostic

Old Man's Cave has some beautiful scenery to include some awesome waterfalls. I enjoy hiking and there is plenty of area and places to go to do this.

wonkthesane

Incredibly beautiful! We hiked through here when a massive thunderstorm was blowing through. Overhanging shelves kept the rain off and filtering into falls. The thunder somehow made each stunning vista more stunning.

Amanda Pringle

Old man's cave is such a great place. Mid day there were lots of people, but there are lots of places to hike where you can separate yourself from the crowd. It's also dog friendly.

Ahmed Subha

Very fun and beautiful place to visit. I live in Hilliard and drove about an hour and twenty minutes. I wish if it were closer I would go every weekend. Very quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended it for people who wants to have fun and see the nature. There was a public restrooms and parking lot for free. There’s nothing to worry about it. Have fun fam!!!

Dean Ford

Great Rocky hiking. Water levels were too low the last weekend in September, so almost no water over waterfalls.

Emily Lindsey

Amazing experience! Beautiful sites that are very well kept & very dog friendly.

Elizabeth Pyle

It was beautiful the trails were maintained. Staff was polite and knowledgeable on the area. People that were on the trails were friendly n helpful. Great experience I highly recommend!

Cyd Castro-Rojas

Must be visited because it's worth it. Information office can give you the best advice about trails and paths for the desire experience.

K Agler

Truly a place of beauty. Be up for a hike when you come here, it is worth the effort. The paramedics took a fellow out when we were there. Just be aware of you're own limits.

Daniel Jackson

Hocking Hills State Park is very beautiful, ADA friendly! Has many trails ,and beautiful waterfalls. The trails are for young , old and some for the disabled. This park has facilities for RV's, and you can rent a cabin which I hear are very nice .Went there too enjoy a beautiful wedding! Do come to enjoy this very beautiful Park, a must see!

Patrica Carrieri-Dinoto

Beyond beautiful and very scenic! I highly recommend hiking this park of Hocking Hills. Get there early to beat the crowds during the summer.

Megan P

My husband and my favorite place to go for a weekend getaway. The sights and the hiking are amazing. The waterfalls are just gorgeous. The last time we went, a bad thunderstorm went through, and engorged all the falls. They were thunderous and breathtaking. While we huddled under a little shelter, a very cool ranger came by and talked with us. She was very sweet, and helped pass the time. The caves are so neat. It's a 4 and a half hour drive from Flint to Hocking Hills and worth every minute of it. You will not be disappointed.

kashif sultan

This a great place to go hiking but be safe there are no protective barriers. It is beautiful!!

Amber Mclellen

It was a very nice and clean park with an amazing staff that were very knowledgeable and friendly. Taking the hike back to the falls and other features were like stepping into another world! It is absolutely gorgeous! I would recommend visiting to anyone and everyone. If you have the chance don't pass it up.

Elizabeth Shniper

We love the trails here! This is such an amazing place that within half a mile you pass multiple waterfalls, and rock features. The further you walk, the more rewarded you are. Best area for forest bathing/forest medicine/shinrin yoku.

Lisa Kruczek

I highly recommend this Park. I thoroughly enjoyed hiking the pathways and trails in the park. It made my weekend. The group of women I hiked with, also found it a great hiking park.

Ron Justice

Awesome long weekend staying here. When we first arrived we had cell service, and were able to use the phone as a hotspot to have internet service. On Friday, after the park filled up, the cell service became unusable. We still enjoying the convenience of the full hookup section, and look forward to returning later this fall. We love the local hiking, and access to the trails.

michelle miller

Gorgeous place great place to take kids, easy access, steep down hill some spots. Water was great to see and it had sand for the kids to play. Great for photos..

William Gabbard

The best time to visit is through the week. It's not as busy and you can enjoy the calmness of the surroundings. Take some sturdy shoes and maybe some bottled water as it is a good walk on the trails.

Vivekanand Ashok Gavi

If you are trekking lover then you have to visit this place. Trek in forest is so beautiful to enjoy nature. Park your vehicle near Old Man’s Cave visitor center from there you can visit upper falls, lower falls and cedar falls by trekking. Start your trek early so that you can cover all three falls and enjoy playing in water. Recently they have opened visitor center. It has restroom facility and vending machines for water and cool drinks. Over all it’s good for one day activity.

Ryan Junior

The hiking trails and site seeing are amazing. So many wonderful things to see here and love the fact that you can bring your dog to this place! One of the best state parks I have ever been to.

Lisa huff

Beautiful scenery! We appreciate that there are two handicapped accessible trails, as my husband is on dialysis. Today we went to Conkle's Hollow. Ash Cave is also very nice.

Hannah DeStefanis

Awesome place to camp. Not only is the camping park itself super clean but you are right off the trails into Hocking hills. It is a beautiful place to hike for a bit. I do reccomend planning on staying for at least a whole day.

Van W.

Love this place! It's a very nice getaway place to be in a wood and nature again. They just opened a visiting center last June and you could check Hocking hills' history, buy some souvenir, and some ice-cream there!

Kyla Huebner

It's pretty, but get there super early. It gets crowded super quickly. Pretty trails and lots of cool features. The Devil's Bathtub and Cedar Falls are really cool.

Theogony Lord

Camping and hiking was really fun. I enjoyed myself and my friends had a great time too

Lili Lara

Such a pretty place! The campground at old man's cave is great, very spacious lots, most of them include a power outlet and small fire ring/grill. Old man's cave is very cool, the trail all the way to Cedar falls is beautiful and very well maintained.

Trent Boles

Wonderful (HOT) day in the Ohio hills and caverns! Crowd was tough on parking, but we found a spot across from the main lot on the edge of the road (with about 50+ others.) Don't show up at noon! Hiking Trails crowded too, but that cool breeze down low in the valley was worth the 2 hr drive!

Renato Duarte

Very nice hiking. Great things to see. If you want less crowd go to whispering cave. Just be prepared for a 268 feet include going back from cave.

Travis Gilliam

New visitor's center is awesome and clean. I've been going here for over 25 years and it's always amazing (for Ohio) and even better with family, a date, or a group. Trails are well marked, clear, and every route has something great to experience. I'll keep going back as long as I can!

Jeanne Brownell

Awesome views. If you love waterfalls, this place has no shortage! It was very busy when we went. I was really saddened by the rule you can't get in the water. And then people were doing it anyway. Many of the trails run next to a creek but not in them or through them like turkey run. Definitely a must see though. Many tent camping sites are on slopes and water runs though them when it rains.

Diane Marsh

A beautiful hidden gem. Rangers could have been a little bit more helpful when someone packed in an entire filmmaking crew into the Ash Cave area without permission. They really didn't want to take care of it and it did kind of ruin the experience. But the site and the accommodations are good.

Charlie Evil Pig

I wish I could explain how I feel when I'm here. No stress, no worries while I am there

Ady Aradrimath

Bask in the nature..!! A must visit place for any nature lovers..!! It’s an amazing place for hiking/ trails. Full of greenery and rocks. We visited Old Man’s Cave and Cedar Falls. Both the trails are good. I would say you’ll smell the nature’s aroma amid the tall trees and rocks. The people at the visitor center are very nice and helpful. Watch your step and follow the warnings displayed. Have a nice trip..!

Shannon Wright

Absolutely beautiful, well marked trails and lots of information and maps available. Super fun and beautiful nature adventure

Art Herman

This is a review of the campground only 1. There is a long winding hi road to get into the campground 2. Sights NEED improvement lots of mud next to sites lots are paved but go down hill when backing in 3. Ground next to your camper is down hill and muddy 4. The bathroom's are ok only 3 shower's for women and 3 for men shower's have shower curtains no doors water is not hot and shower floors are always damp 4. After August pool is closed down 5. You are in the woods so it is hot and damp lots of bugs and raccoon and skunks 6. fire wood is $6 and 22 lbs bag of ice $4 7. Just remember it is a start park they are a little more rustic.

Tricia Smith

Hope Lake Stake Park Lodge was a WONDERDUL surprise!! The food was most excellent with great service and delicious offerings!! We will DEFINITELY be back!!

Brandon Blauvelt

Many different trails with lots to see. Family loves coming here. Many places to camp nearby. Old man's cave is probably the most popular. Dog friendly trails mostly unless posted.

Patti Mowery

A beautiful fun hiking experience. Loved the museum & new lodge building & facilities!! One thing needs added to the Hocking Hills area is cell service. If separated from party cannot contact them to find out where they are!!!

Jeff Newbill

Great place to visit. Compares to Pictured Rock in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan without Lake Superior. Lots of hiking trails for all skill levels of hiker.

Holly McAfee

Beautiful park to visit. Very well marked trails and directions to follow.

JD Howdy

Had a wonderful time. We stayed in one of the cabins. They have been refurbished and are really nice. Plenty of awesome things to do. Great family getaway.

G. Neil Armstrong

I camped here from Thurday until Sunday on a recent weekend (August 2019), at the Ash Cave location, all the way back to the very end of the gravel road. I snapped nearly two hundred photographs of various highlights during my awesome adventure. There was a fire tower (about 420 feet into the sky). I visited Historic Logan, at the Columbus Washboard Company, the Monarch Weigh Station, a Pencil Sharpener Museum, and a few other places in town. I went on a five mile kayak trip. I was able to snap a ton of photos without ruining my phone! The men at Infinite Church hosted this camping trip. We had daily devotionals that were genuine and very edifying. The food was extremely good. The guys were incredible. One man gave me a really good tent that I could keep! I'll not forget this highlight in my life. Hats off to lifes landmarks!

Cissy71

So many kids. Keep that in mind if you're not looking to be in that environment. They were loud past the quit time on our camp circle. Beautiful hike trails but they are busy trails with lots of people.

Jennifer Strayer

Had alot of fun hiking threw the woods and climbing all the stairs. And seeing the waterfalls. And just having a good time exploring everything...

tracy roman

I thought it was great! It was so very hot and humid the day we were there. Whenever we walked from Cedar Falls back to the visitor's center, there was one point in the upper path that we were unsure what way to go. There was a tree cut in the middle of the path, but there were no arrows to go right or left. Thank God, we did end up going the correct way. Other hikers did not. It is a beautiful park. Even though there were signs everywhere, no swimming or wading, people were in the water.

Joann LaCourse

So beautiful and peaceful. Love walking around and listening to the different birds chirping and the beauty in nature.

melissa simmons

Loved it!! Can't wait to go back! Not safe for small children, as there are drop offs & wet footholds everywhere. Not wheelchair or stroller friendly.

Farhana Haque

Amazing 1day experience. What more can you ask when you get to hike to a series of scenic views? You can choose between long connecting trails or plan a short trip. Throughout the forest you will get to see huge rock shelters and cliffs, waterfall cutting through rocks, huge old trees(some uprooted) and aight plantations. A must go. I'll go again to explore the places I couldn't cover this time.

Stephen Bodey

Natural beauty at its best. Today felt like "bring your dog to hike" day as everyone had one. Most were behaved, some were not. Highly recommend Old Man's Cave and Devil's Bath Tub when the water is flowing.

Kosmik Elf

The cabins at Cedar creek were very reclusive. We stayed at The Strong Wolf cabin and it was, wonderfully isolated. We saw several deer, as well.

Dave Moosekian

We set out on a many hikes and explores. We enjoyed this park a great deal. In August a great rainforest green everywhere. Fun hikes for every level. Elevation gains area modest but the scenery is substantial.

Beautiful area. Been there 45 years ago, sure didn't remember all the steps and dogs. Didn't see anyone picking up after their pets either. Nice bathrooms and chairs to sit and relax after the hike up and dow down the steps. 2 1/2hr motorcycle ride to get there, but worth it.

Beautiful area with lots of great hiking options! Be mindful that wildlife is out there and be smart. For example, we waited for a Timber Rattler to cross off the path before proceeding!

Jeremy Knotts

Great scenery, wish they had more information along the trails. One sign at Ash Cave said .7 miles to Cedar Falls, so we started hiking on the blue trail with 2 small children. No phone service until we reached the Fire Tower and then found out we had hiked about 1.5 miles and had just as far to go to reach Cedar Falls(according to Google maps). I'm guessing the sign we saw had faded or been changed. No maps or information about the trail at the Fire Tower.

One of the best state parks in the area. Would suggest not going in the middle of a 6 week drought (the falls weren't very active) but still an awesome experience!!!!

Cathy Ohlwine

This was by far the best hiking I've ever experienced. There are so many beautiful things to see and you really don't have to hike miles and miles to just see one thing. The trails are well marked. There are several different trails of varying difficulty so everyone can experience this beautiful park.

Reed Sirinek

You can hike all day or you can drive to each area. You will need shoes with really good tread as many area are slippery. It's not very strenuous to see all the best areas. I remember the whole day my smartphone tallied 5 miles of walking and I drove a rather than walk it all

Tortle

Great hiking place, many cool places to look at. Empty trails, may come across some annoying people. Wouldn't recommend bringing your kids if you plan on walking far.

Amanda Colby

Definitely make Ash Cave part of your visit! Old Man's Cave campground was great, pleased to find real bathrooms and even showers.

Mike Nolan

I have been going there for about 40 years or so... it has changed sooo much! It has always been a great place to be, but they keep trying to improve it. Parts of the trail are also blocked off so that nature can recover from people running all around the place. Definitely worth 6 stars, just can't give that many...

Such a beautiful park in Ohio. It gets really crowded so if you want to avoid crowds for better photos and what now, try to go super early. We went around noon and we were a bit late in the game I would say. Plan to spend around 5 hours here at least. There is a lot to do and see.

Holly Sampson

I grew up here and I still love it. Hiking, swimming, horse camps, zip lining and so much more in beautiful and historic ( and prehistoric) settings. Great for the family.

Dalton Barksdale

Very nice park! Dog friendly and has amazing views. Multiple trails and multiple water falls! Great if you want a short hike or a long one. Grab your friends and go visit!!!

Jon Sandretto

Words and pictures do not do this place justice. One of the best camping experiences me and my wife have ever had. Great place for kids and plenty to do in the area to stay busy if you like nature. If fancy hotels and restaurants are your thing look elsewhere.

Rachael Vaughan

First of all, DO NOT reserve site 33. The concrete pad is on the opposite side of the awning. Also, as soon as you step out of your camper, you step off the black top and are likely to twist your ankle. There is no where to sit outside your camper unless you want to roll down the hill. There was human feces overflowing in the bath house. While swimming all you could smell was sewer from the bathhouse. The is no cell service for 12 miles and those of you who own and business and are running it from a distance, keep in mind, it’s hard to communicate with those back at home. The front of the park was mowed and looked nice. However the campground hadn’t been mowed. It wouldn’t hurt to cut some of the overgrown weeds and poison ivy back from some of the sites. There was trash all around. The road up to the campground is straight up a hill. The road is narrow and curvy. If you have a big rig, it’s hard to maneuver around the bends with on coming traffic. In Indiana, DNR patrolled the campground regularly. I saw Ohio’s maybe once the entire time I was there. Cars flew through the campground. I didn’t feel safe at all with my kids playing at the playground let alone crossing the road. The playground is not much of a playground. It consists of two swings and two baby swings. I will never be back to this campground. However the caves and waterfalls were beautiful! I wouldn’t stay here.

Hiking was fabulous. Great for kids Camped at the campground. Sites were small but ok. Disappointed in bathroom maintenance. Bathrooms looked newly remodeled but were always hit and humid-very uncomfortable. Also didn’t get cleaned frequently enough. Out of soap for 2 days. Needed better venting and more regular cleaning. Frequently smelled like poop maybe the septic field nearby?

Loved old man cave! An easy hike and do much fun. Great for a dinner afternoon. Lots of shade, lots of water to walk in. Even kids as young as 3 or 4 can walk it. My son was 4 and had a blast. Great for pictures and just being in nature. You can bring dogs on a leash and mine loved it!

Sara Scanes

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been! It was so lush (we visited in spring) that it was beyond belief! Watch your step, though; I would advise against bringing anyone younger than 12 or older than 55 ... It's a bit of a hike, even the easy trails!

Sue Doud

So many cool places to hike. Take your time and enjoy the amazing views. The only disappointment was the trash on some of the trails. Remember to leave no trace.

This place is underrated. Definitely go here if u plan to visit Ohio. Beautiful waterfalls and magestic rock formations. If u love beautiful nature walks give this place a try.

Tony DiNucci

Great place to get back to nature. Good hiking trails. Great place to practice your archery skills.

Michael Weaver

The new visitors center is beautiful. We camped for two nights with 5 families with 14 kids (age range 1 to 11). Camp ground was clean with plenty of room. Went to the pool at the camp grounds which was clean and absolutely refreshing in the 90 degree temps. We hiked to Old Man's Cave and to the lower falls. Everyone had a great time and was easily able to handle the hike. Can't wait to go back.

Matt Vincik

This is one of the most amazing places in Ohio that I've ever been. It's an absolute must visit if you enjoy nature, hiking, caves and waterfalls.

Ben Salva

Very fun state park. They added a disc golf course this spring which is incredibly fun and super easy for beginners. The old mans cave was a great 10 mile for me, my brother, and parents. From old folk to younger people this park has been super accomodatiting for all ages. A big bonus is how pet friendly this place. My old dog loves staying in the cabin after a short hike, while my young pup loved the challenging 8 mile hike I took him on. Would come here again!

Heather R

We stayed in a Premier Realty?? Cabin. It was outstanding. Very clean. Amenities we AWESOME!!

E Beezy

Beautiful place with great trails and natural swimming spots and cell reception is poor...that's secretly my favorite part. AWESOME!

Haskle Risner

Hocking Hills is a magical place that makes one feel as if they are part of a fairytale as they explore caves and waterfalls. It’s truly a majestic place that will have you forget about all the bad things in life and focus on the beauty that you will be surrounded by.

Kylie Bauer

So cool!! My calves are hurting so bad today, but definitely worth it! The views are absolutely beautiful! My favorite I think was Ash Cave. If you are thinking about going.. stop thinking and just go! You won’t be disappointed!! ☺️

Milton Edwards TV

I grew up going to hocking hills.. it sucks to see that it's been turned into a big tourist trap that they must alter mother nature to accommodate the people wanting to come and visit.. it was a great hiking experience in the past and still has some rugged areas but it took away from the hiking experience

Indre Ra

Perfect nature escape. Clean and organized, not too crowded with people and admission is free.

Brad Matthews

Amazing sights to see. We stopped by on our last day of a 10 day road trip because a friend of ours said it was beautiful. She was 100% correct. I would suggest giving yourself a whole day to explore the park. Did I mention it was free, that's right no park fees at any of the lots we parked in. Great place for a romantic hike with that special someone or for the family.

Donnie Schulte

Great place to visit. Lots of trees and seclusion. Will be back soon.

Sarah N.

One of the best State Parks! There are 5 main hiking areas in the park, along with many other nature preserves in the area to visit. Visit in the off season (winter or mid week) for lower crowds and the best rates at cabins and lodges in the area. Pictures are from the Old Man's Cave area and the new visitor center there.

Mike Marquardt

Was very disappointed that the camp ground pool was shut down 3.5 of the 5 days we were there during some of the hottest and high humidity days. It would have been nice to cool off after hiking.

5th ID

Decent for a state park. No grass on our site, only dirty straw. We like Salt Fork much better.
