The park is really well maintained, and it may be in part due to their policy oftake all trash with you. Beach is serene and has shaded areas with lifeguards. Lots of trails and the water seems really clean. Good place for canoe/kayak/paddle board.

GREAT STATE PARK! I used to take my children camping there when they were young, & they NEVER wanted to leave! Even after a week of camping in the rain every day, they were still having fun, & begged for "one more day." There's hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, berry picking, & LOTS of amazing wildlife. My son would sit in the observation hut and watch all the wildlife for hours! He caught frogs, newts, & snakes around the park. He wanted to take them home, but I taught him the importance of animals being in their own environment... how the forest is dependent upon the animals & vice versa. As an adult, he now works in a Massachusetts State Park & helps to preserve our precious forests. D.A.R. is a GREAT family campground.

Scenic state park with a beautiful lake, boat launch and campground. Pay to enter during the main season, free off-season. Rest rooms and some handicap accessible trails. Nice place to spend the day in nature. Regularly under construction though, so be mindful and plan accordingly.

Great place to relax, clean bathrooms which is a real surprise when camping and beautiful to boot. Most importantly there are showers with hot water. Important when camping for more than 3 days.

Very nice medium-sized lake surrounded by trees. Water gets very warm by late June. Nice shady, sandy beach with roaped-in swimming area and lifeguards in summer and nearby restrooms and picnic areas with tables and BBQ's. Campground with its own beach on opposite sides of lake from first beach. That beach is always sunny. Boat launch areas for small sailboats, kayaks and paddleboards. Path by the water leads from the boat launch area to the camping area. Nice easy very pretty lakeside path through woods around 1/3 mile. Very cheap lifetime Senior pass for state residents. I come a lot in the summer and take my dog for a walk on the path in the spring and fall. I never get tired of the park. I always feel like I'm taking a mini-vacation in Maine.

An hour away from Amherst, safely hidden from tourists is this pretty little forest. Nice trails, less crowded, quiet getaway. Few camping options.

One of the best places I've ever camped at! Very clean and obsessively maintained. Deluxe camp sites with a fire ring, a charcoal grill and a bear box. The fishing... isn't all that great. It could be better with more stocking and a catch and release policy.

Love this place. It's a little far but I like the area and atmosphere. With this heatwave if you go after 5p it's less crowded but no life guards after 5p. Great for kids because there is lots of shallow water to play in. And it's a great place for a cook out. Just bring your charcoal.

This place is amazing, has plenty of space, very clear water.one of the best things that I liked was the fact that you don't really need to bring charcoal if you know how to start a fire. There is tons of tinder and dried wood around so you'll always have plenty of firewood of you want to grill or just keep warm. Definitely recommend going!

One of the best campgrounds I've ever been too. Get a taste of the outdoors in this well maintained state park and get away from the world for a while. Highly recommended for the kids as there are two swimming spots to enjoy. One of them is a public beach which can get pretty busy but is the larger of the two. The other is much more quaint, and open to campers only. It's an unguarded beach so going over the buoys isn't a problem, especially since the pristine lake will take your breath away with endless swimming pleasure! Get the kids out from in front of the tv and into the bountiful beauty of the outdoors!

July 2013 Large well maintained sites, older but clean bathrooms, though only one had showers (free hot water). All food stuffs and personals had to be kept in closed vehicles due to bear population. Park staff were very visible and sticklers for the rules. Very nice clean "campers" beach. Day beach was very well used.
