REVIEWS OF Bunker Hill Museum IN Massachusetts

Museum is loaded with information and has a lot of cool bits and pieces of history inside as well. Definitely worth checking out. The gift shop had a great selection including the typical gift shop items such as coasters, ornaments, and magnets. I would be lying if I said the staff were top notch, the gentleman at the information desk was rude and not very helpful. However the girl who helped me out at the Monument was great, very friendly and knew what she was talking about. I most certainly recommend the museum to you, it is free for those wondering, whether you plan to climb the tower or not.

Eric Steadman

The museum is pretty ok. The view from the monument is amazing, but the 294 stairs to the top are a little rough. Also plan carefully, because the monument and the museum are only open from 9-5, on account of their being government establishments.

Carl Bishop

Very nice monument worth a visit if you are in the area. Close to the USS Constitution to

The museum was good but there isn't much beyond wall murals with text to read.

Very cool place! A quick stop in while walking by turned in to an hour or two. So much information and several artifacts to see. Staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Yuhan Zhang

Disappointing. The exhibitions are largely empty (the most interesting area been the store, see picture below) and many of the exhibits are reproductions. A lot of the information can also be found on the internet. Not worthy of a visit.

I would love to give this site a 4 star review - but it needed a film presentation in order for me to do that. I expect more from noteworthy National Park locations. I did not go across to the monument, only to the Museum. Upstairs there is a recreation of the battle accompanied with an audio presentation so be sure to turn that on so you have some idea of the history behind the day. There is an original Red Coat drum on display so be sure to find it.

The museum is very interesting in telling about the Battle of Bunker Hill. Plus it is a lot of fun to hike to the top of the monument!

Great monument to add perspective to history. Admission to it and the next door museum is free. Advice: visit the museum first then the monument. The ~50 some odd stairs in the museum will be torture after the 300 in the monument and distract you from appreciating the content. Witnessed the demonstration by the actors. They were very knowledgeable. Highly reccomended.

Tony T

Nice history behind this monument. The museum has a full interactive display along with some artifacts from the battle that happened there!

A must visit if anyone in your group is a history buff.

Small museum with the history of Charlestown and the Battle of Bunker Hill. The 2nd floor is more interesting than the first and contains a narrated timeline with diorama of the battle.

We attended the Bunker Hill Museum and obelisk site. Contrary to popular belief, the Bunker Hill site is actually on Breed Hill. Bunker Hill is on the same side as Breed Hill, and is below the church tower about 1000 feet away. Inside the visitor hall is a National Park Service ranger named Bill Parrow, who gave us some insight to Bunker Hill's notoriety. Using a rubber ball to simultate cannon ball ammunition, we saw the cannon that was used to defend the Hill from the British. The obelisk is a climbing activity, and has 294 steps to climb. Not for the faint of heart, the staircase was made from the local quarry, all of the rock that was available. The Breed Hill obelisk was also the model for the Washington Monument. Inside the Museum, one can find walking sticks, candle holders, lanterns with candle placements, replicas of the U.S. Constitution, and weapons of the Revolutionary period.

The rangers yelled at me and told me to leave because I was disbursing the guests and me and my friend were talking on the bench very quietly the rangers were very unwelcoming and they forced our teachers (were on a field trip) up with us because 14 year old kids can’t go up ourself and our used to be pregnant social studies was forced up the stairs and she can’t climb stairs... THIS PLACE IS NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY.... take your kids somewhere else if you want good service and MANNERS!!!!

Great free museum located just across the road from the Bunker Hill Monument. If you plan on climbing the monument then this is where you obtain the timed tickets from. I would suggest that you ask for around 15 minutes to get over the road and up the hill to the entrance of the monument, I'm not as young as I use to be so it was a bit of a rush. There are some good displays in here.

Pretty cool monument with history markers, gift shop, reenactments, and old paintings. You can climb to the top of the monument (which isn’t for the faint of heart). Great place to visit if you’re looking for history stops in Boston.

Cheryl Speer

Awesome! It's history, so of course you have to go.

Kat Edwards

Good historical place to visit. If you go to the top, be sure you are ready for just shy of a 300 steps climb. Everyone should do it at least once though.
