Trails are well marked and maintained. Bathrooms are clean. Variety of trail options for easy to moderate walks. Dog friendly :)
Love this place. The pond loop trail is scenic and enjoyable. Great place to take the pups! The picnic section also comes in handy for grilling and having lunch after a nice hike.
Endless trails through scenic woods and farmsteads. Interesting history and mansion, but they only offer tours once a month. Pay to park, frisbee golf and bathrooms
Been coming here since I was a kid. Park ranger is kind, it's got Frisbee golf, tours of the ames mansion, and lots of other events worth checking out. Mostly though I just love taking a peaceful walk on one of the many trails. It's a great place for all ages no one's too young or too old to enjoy this great slice of natural beauty in an otherwise bustling area !
While there aren't many wild animals around, there are a caucophany of frogs coming to life this time of year. Follow along the pond edge trail and listen to the glorious noise they make. While the pond edge trail is full of roots are ruts, it does make for a very pleasant stroll. The water was a gorgeous blue and the puffy clouds just painted a picture to remember. Enjoy your stay, we did.
lots of walking trails, great place for walking a dog, some local wildlife usually makes an appearance (the snake is harmless)
Great place for easy hikes. The mansion is nice to look at too.
Borderland has been beautiful for decades. This is a lovely park for the walking trails and the old mansion features.
Great place to bring your dog. Just be careful of following some of the small trails because because it is easy to get lost. A lot of the small trails look like they are main trails. My dog loves going here because he gets to interact with all sorts of other dogs when its crowded.
Great disc golf course. They have drivers and mid range you can take for free. Beautiful area in general. Great place to get outside. Very soon friendly
Tons of beautiful and exciting trails I especially love that the parking machines take cards A great day out
Great place to walk with the kids and dogs! Parking is limited so that's a challenge on nice days.
Would not let us enter the park due to not taking cash and only credit cards which in my mind is discriminatory
Great area for hiking, running, fishing, disc golf, picnics, and mountain biking. Nice smooth trails near the lakes. Rougher trails are in the northern part of the park.
Wonderful park with lots of trails. Parking is $5 for mass residents. Overall a very nice place to go on a nice day.
It’s a nice place.
Easy to get to and park
Beautiful place. Mountain biking, hiking and disc golf.
Love it here. Pretty well maintained and plenty of trails for walking, hiking and biking.
Parking is $5 but the trails are easy and very scenic
Great place for gatherings, lot's of open space for games, large disc golf course, hiking trails, mansion tour, and dog friendly.
I went in the winter. Would love too go back when the flowers are in bloom. Beautiful palce
Great Park, Annoying ass park rangers! Let people enjoy the park guys. And why the hell are you charging for parking.
Its well maintained
Great quiet park with lots of activities and frisbee golf
Great area to walk around. Nice woods and quite area. Not to busy of an area.
Best trails around, LOVE THIS PARK!!
Good time great weather
An amazing place to spend a beautiful afternoon! The mansion is lovely and the estate grounds are extensive and full of activities for all walks of life... We played a round of frolf and had a great time on the course but beware it can be hard to follow at times. Otherwise we saw some great bouldering we look forward to coming back for as well as mountain biking, hiking, and a large lake. Check it out, and read up on the history!
Love to be there again and again, beautiful place for hangout with family and friends
Went on a 5 a.m. morning hike this morning. It was absolutely phenomenal!! Thank you Paul!! :-)
Nice place for a light hike. Good areas for a picnic. Disc golf. Ames Boulder for the climbers!
Love this park great for hiking and biking
Great place to walk around. Trails are relatively easy. Ranger stations has lots of info about nature. Bathrooms $5 a day parking for non DCF members
This Park was extraordinary. One moment you are walking in a fern filled forest, the next near a stunning lake croaking with frogs. Then you make a turn and are strolling down a lane with large canopy above and a spit rail fence on either side. This property has all the different wonders of found in landscape all in walking distance from one another.
Beautiful park!! Hiking, cycling, disc golf and picnics
So many beautiful walking trails. An excellent place to walk your dog, ride your bike or jog. Also has frisbee golf spread out throughout the park for a fun activity. There is a historic home on the property open during limited hours for tours. Picnic tables for a fun day out enjoying nature.
Very picturesque and nice hiking trails. Close to Boston and a great place to try to get in some nature time. Lots of little romantic spots, and once the foliage is in full color, there will be some spectacular vistas. Regardless whether it is for a few hours or a full day, Borderland State Park is worth the detour.
Gorgeous spots, easy hikes and more difficult trails. Large place so there's a lot to explore!
Nice park lots of different trails for hiking and biking
Love this place, great walking paths that my dogs love to walk
Very fun park with lots of fun activities all year round. Try going on the Mansion Tour! You will not regret it!
Beautiful place for a walk or photos
Park is large and well maintained. It's a nice place to visit to get a taste of nature and some gorgeous photos of landscapes. You can bring your horse, dog, and even ride your bike on most trails and there is also a disc golf course.
This park has an amazing lake in the middle. It was a little muddy the day I went but we'll kept and mostly flat walking trails. There's a whole setup for frisbee golf which was fun to see. It's very dog friendly too.
What a beautiful park. Lots of open land and hiking trails. We went to the family fun day and there were so many activities for the kids.
Awesome always see tons of wildlife when we go!!!! All my photos on snapchat tho
Beautiful, quiet, great place to hike
We love spending time together in this park so beautiful
it's beautiful park. it has different trails. those who wanna go for running and walking or bring dogs or horse it's amazing for these things. it's good for kids n family as well. it's neat and clean and not so much busy either.
Disc golf course is allot of fun, allot of work has been put into it and it shows! No the course for a rolling cart though!
Great trails for dog walking.. disc golf course is nice. Cool sights
Nice place for walking, exploring, and learning about nature. Went for a school girls trip. Guides were great and the mansion your was interesting. The ponding was exciting for the kids. Fields were well maintained and the hike was just right for 2nd graders.
Very nice in the summer. Great for disc golf or walking your dog.
Really nice place. Take your dog your kids or just got for a nice walk with your man.
We love this park. It has many beautiful trails. We love bringing our dogs for a walk. There are great activities for kids throughout the season. If you go in the station there are backpacks with activities for loan as well as loaner discs for disc golf.
Fantastic walk in the woods with disk golf in-between
I go every year
Beautiful sunny day, scenery, walking, walking by horses as they passed. Saw families enjoying their dogs.
Great disc golf course! Extremely well laid out. Awesome park!
Beautiful grounds and mansion. Great place for dog walking and easy wooded hiking. Also has Frisbee golf.
Great trails. Pay to park though
Fantastic Park. One of the best around.
A favorite moderate hiking trail for all ages. Beautiful pond views, clean, and dog friendly.
Great big park offering water /ponds for backwater, lots of parks spaces, picnic areas tables, and easy to access restrooms. Gets not so busy but not sure visiting on public holidays or peak hours during the summer times. The Ames mansion is worth visiting once. Would highly recommend spending hours there.
This is one of the best parks in the state. Yes, I know we have the Cape Cod National Sea Shore and all the lush landscapes of the Berkshires - this park rivals them all. Larger than it looks, you can spend hours hiking the well kept trails that wind away from the main estate. If a casual walk is all you desire, there's a quick loop around the pond that boasts excellent wildlife watching opportunities and a variety of flora that bloom throughout the warmer months. For me, the vast variety of mushrooms growing here provides an annual treasure hunt like no other. A picnic on the lawn isn't out of the question, and you can have it set against the picturesque background of the Ames mansion whose gardens are a joy to explore. Borderland also has a great disc golf course winding through its woods. Some of the holes take you to hidden vistas you wouldn't find otherwise - do play a round if you have the time! This is the park to beat for sure, and it sets a high standard.
It was a beautiful day and ran into a lot of people enjoying the park. Saw several dog owners, dogs leashed and picked up after. The water fountain had an option for dogs too. Saw only one horse back rider riding. Some trails don't allow horses but others do. Trails marked very well.
We love coming here for long walks. It's beautiful and quiet. Dogs are allowed and what dog doesn't want to explore the woods. Horses are also welcome. You can have picnics, cookouts, play ball, frisbee, lay in the sun and just chill, kids love running around the big field, exploring the walking trails and looking at the big mansion.
Great place for an afternoon hike!
Beautiful location with a disc golf course, picnic tables, gorgeous trails. The land is a part of an estate owned by the Ames Family in 1910. With a stone swimming pool (not in use) and a 20 room stone house with manicured lawns and flowers surrounding. Can have cookouts and picnics as well as weddings, but no alcohol is allowed on the premise. Dogs are allowed however!
I like this park...plenty of open space...hiking trails...and Frisbee golf. If you are a fisherman enjoy !!..if not bring a book, a camera...or just binoculars. ..there is always something to do !!...but rule #1 enjoy !!
Great place to walk your dog!!!
I've been running in this park for over 20 years now. One of my favorite places in the world to run. There's the main dirt road around the park and plenty of trails. I can get 9-10 miles in the park without covering the same ground.
Amazing guided Full Moon Walk! The staff and volunteers are spectacular!
Exceptional disc golf
Great park. Lots of trails. Totally unspoiled. Great place to take the dog.
Great trails. A lot of fun walking, running, on the bike, even with the stroller
Great trails, and fun for the whole family! Remember to put on bug-spray, so you don't get bitten!
Beautiful place, lots of trails, good for dog walking and exercise
Great place for a beautiful walk with someone you enjoy!
The park is so beautiful and is a place for all ages. Its great for family picnics, dog walks, and frisbee golf. Very fun place to be and has a great layout.
Always a great spot. Highly recommend going to some of the deeper north trails.
Clear well marked trails. Mostly flat. Great for kids and dogs
It's an enjoyable park with multiple trails, ponds, wildlife, large frisbee-golf course, small stone summer lodge, and Ames Mansion.
Always a great clean place to take the kids walking. So much to discover. They have great events like the birds of prey and mansion tours. Good place to walk your dog. I recommend investing into a parking pass since each visit costs $5. They also have a great disc golf course
Beautiful, large State Park . ( Please be aware, out-of-state license plates need to pay $10 to use /visit.) Their hiking trails, and an organization organized activities inside. Hiking, and there is the Ames mansion, historical spot. 18-hole golf course, through different layouts you can play ( parking is public , but not free. ) There is available mountain biking hiking and check out the big lake. ( Helpful? Please
Nice assortment of trails - short trails, longer trails, some hilly and some flat trails. Plenty of nice ponds and wooded areas, fields for picnics, and a beautiful stone mansion with lovely gardens. Dog friendly with water bowls at the ranger station. Restrooms at the ranger station are clean.
Awesome course!
Awesome park and the staff were super helpful! Love all the programs.
Love walking around here
Nice park. Unfortunately you have to pay to use the space. As an out of state plate, I had to pay $10 to park just to take a walk for an hour.
Good place to visit and camp just no hook ups for tents
Wonderful walking trails. Some easy some hard. Real mountain bike trails. Good place to walk dog. Play frisbe. Picnic.
An always magical state park experience.
Great place for quiet walk through trails in nature.
Nice local park
Great disc golf course!
Good disc golf course!
Awesome place
Quiet scenic..walkable trails..
Good place for walking
There are several interesting trials, they provide enough potty bags and trash cans so you don't carry them with you the whole time. I spent more than 4 hours there. You cannot swim in the lake but the water is looks very clean. Plenty of parking but at 5USD with MA plates or 10 with any other. Pay with card.
My family and I love this place. We love all the walking trails, the history, and we enjoy all the tours of the mansion. They have so many family activities. Definitely a place to check out and visit
Absolutely awesome staff Paul and Buck are the best. Highly recommend joining the Friends of Borderland
Great place to visit and see nature good walking paths everyone would enjoy it
Such a great place. Whether you going for a walk, hike or picnick. The trails are well maintained and most people are very kind on the trail. There is a $5 day pass for parking that is card only, but you can get a year pass for $60.
Absolutely beautiful state park filled with history, nature, excitement and fun. Disc golf is played here and so many ways to enjoy the great outdoors. It's perfect.
I've grown up going to Borderland. As a kid we went for picnics and to the birdwatching stations. As a teen I went to hike around. Now, I go with my dog to the huge off leash fields there. There's a little bit of something for everyone. They have great nature events for kids. There's also frisbee golf and horseback riding trails. The rangers are always super helpful and keep the place very well maintained. Always tons of parking. If you're looking for something to do outdoors, I'd definitely say to head to Borderland.
Very nice trails and hiking but their disc golf course is why I go. Very beginner friendly on the white layout and challenging on the blue layout.
Love going hiking there. Huge place. Lake and everything
Borderland is the gem of the southeastern Massachusetts state parks. It is a year round popular spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. One a typical day you'll find families with strollers and dogs on the easy carriage path which circumnavigates two ponds, along with trail runners and mountain bikers off in the more technical trails deep in the woods. There is also a very popular disc golf course which meanders throughout the woods. And lastly it boasts the historic Ames Mansion and caretaker's cottage, which often has a fire burning in the colder weather.
Very level and lovely autumnal walk. Total elevation change was about 50 feet. Trails accommodate dogs and bikes. Trails are quite rocky.
Close proximity to me.
An excellent state park. A large variety of things to do and great organization from its staff. Hiking is easy but enjoyable, Ames mansion is a fascinating historical spot, and the disc golf is great fun. The ponds on site are very scenic.
Great state park. Well kept and very beautiful.
Had so much fun at the fishing event
Awesome Frisbee golf course and all the facilities to boot
Gorgeous sight seeing, easy to moderate trails
Beautiful trails. Well maintained. Lots of geocaches, and their own scavenger hunts. Will definitely be going back now that I know this gem is here
One of the best disc golf courses in the area. Great 18 home course with holes varying from wooded areas to open holes. Could use some better directions for a few of the holes, but other than that it’s definitely worth the trip.
Such am amazing park with tons of well maintained trails and lots of green space. The off leash dog area is a big bonus. You could spend the whole day here between the water, disk golf course, picnic spots, and so much more.
Play disc golf there all the time great place to just go and walk around
Great hikes and ponds.
Great hiking close to home
Incredible hidden treasure! Aside from being a superb state park, don't miss a tour of the Ames mansion. Tour guide Paul was so passionate in his presentation about the property, the Ames home, and the family - we were so glad we happened to be there at the right time!
Great place all around and been kept clean all these years.
One of the most beautiful parks around. You're bound to see people walking their dogs, going for a jog, or just enjoying a walk in the woods.
G0reat course. 18 holes with two course lay outs. Can play blue to blue white to blue blue to white or white to white to keep the course interesting,. Parking is expensive there tho. 5 bucks in state 10 bucks for out of state plates. Public restrooms available. Would recommend.
Oh such a nice place can even grill has only in the panicked area.
beautiful place, best views, and it is very very peaceful. very large as well, so it can never get boring!
My grand daughter loves walking the paths. Very relaxing was.
Bike riding, trail hiking or walking the dog - I always enjoy time in this park. Picturesque and quiet with some neat activities available
What a fun trip. We were looking for a place to kill some time outdoors and go for a walk. There is so much to see and do here; it's a wonderful park. In fact, I plan on returning, soon, but this time we'll be bringing the pups with us.
Beautiful park, fun activities.
trash the trail is so basic and repetitive, and if you have a road bike, it is impossible to ride on the rock
Beautiful place! I love the scenery!
Various trails and pet friendly
Nice trail and grounds
Great hiking trails and disc golf course is Awesome!
Super fun place. Trails are nice and easy not too difficult. Lots of other activities as well. Disc golf course..!!! Dogs are allowed
Nice quite and beautiful. Great for walking the dog
Great place to be outside. Mountain biking is rough and tough but great. Water wholes for the dogs everywhere. Walk the main trail for a nice 3 mile. Loop. Ps 5 bucks. To park and it only takes debit cards or MasterCards
Nice place, price to get into the parking lot is pretty high at 5 dollars though.
Awsome park with lots of trails
Very nice and we'll kept park... everything was great except parking pass..1st pass took funds and didn't despence second payment received pass..$10 between both but still a great time and worth it... wondering how to get a credit for next time cause this place is amazing and will be returning soon.
Fantastic walking trails of all difficulty levels and well maintained.
Amazing park, with a challenging but fun disc golf course. Parking is 5 bucks and well worth it
Played a round of disc golf hers. This is only my second time visiting the park/playing the course. The only reason I dont go more often is because there are a lot of other options that are free and this one costs $5 to park. Very nice park nonetheless.
Shaded trails with open areas. Reminiscent of colonial era. Dog friendly. Has restrooms and a water fountain. Doggie poop bags provided and also has free disk golf. $5 to park.
I love it there. Its a great place to bring the kids and the dog. Or just a great place to relax and center too
Plenty of trails. Dogs allowed.
What a wonderful place to hike. The staff is extremely knowledgeable.
Very beautiful! And dog friendly!
Love this park. Well worth the $5 parking fee. If you have a DCR pass use it here, parking is covered. The rangers are kind and enjoy sharing information about the park. Often "Friends of Borderland" are on hand to answer questions as well. I walk here once a week at least. Dogs allowed on leash. If you're taking babies, make sure to use your jogging stroller. The frizzbe golf course is separate from the walking trails. Check into the ranger station to borrow a back pack full of information and activities for younger kids. Bathrooms and water available in the station.
The 18 hole frisbee golf course is great
Beautiful place to take a nature walk, play sports, make a picknick, walk your dog, or even ride your horse.
Great paths, either wide carriage roads or narrow woodland ones. Dog friendly. Plenty of parking but must pay
Very well taken care of, clean, beautiful trails...
