One of the best State parks we've visited. Really nice camp sites, cabins, youth areas... The beach was well maintained, lake was crystal clear. Excellent canoeing and kayaking. Shower houses were clean and up to date. And every staff person we interacted with was friendly. Great location for families and scout/youth groups!!

Wonderful park with a great campground. The aviary was very interesting and the paths around the lake were great for hiking. There were places to fish and playgrounds for kids. Convenient to major roads as well, so it's easy to get to. The bathrooms were really nice and were kept clean. Would love to go back!

Nice relaxing area outside of Cumberland. Beautiful spot to hike or lay on the beach. They have a good 5.2 mile hike around the lake that seems very enjoyable.

What a way to start everyday. Up before daylight just to soak up the amazing sunrise this morning. And walking trails before work had me energized and ready to tackle anything that comes my way. This place has me kicking life into gear. I cant get enough of the peace and serenity that comes over me everytime I step foot on property from the hotel to trails I'm loving it. Next week I'm try it on golf course cant wait

Beautiful lake, $10 canoes and kayaks, white sand beaches, large well-kept rental pavillions with covered picnic seating for 80 or more, this place rocks for family get togethers. The hotel/casino has modern rooms at reasonable rates and extraordinarily comfortable lakeside outdoor seating around three foot high stone fire places within a few places of the bar and restaurant takeout. Winner!

I always love to go to this place. There is a trail that goes all the way around the lake. Also a little hidden Easter egg if you read the park info plaques on left side of park.. it tells a story of a guy who came out here and lived life of hermit because he got rejected by girl. Now if you find the plaque there is also trail behind the lake that goes up to his house.

Not designed for hikers. So, my issue with this place is that it is designed for sitting. The parking lot for the state park is next to the lake on the complete opposite side from the hiking. If you want to hike up the mountain, which was our goal, you end up walking along the road around the lake. The "lakeside" trail is not lakeside, it goes through parking lots meant for casino goers and golfers. If you're looking for hiking, this place is not your place.

I primarily use Rocky Gap for mountain biking....there is the 5 mile loop along with side trails you can hit if you choose depending on how much time/energy you have...also enjoy the buffet In the casino from time to time while I'm there...

Went camping here for the first time. Will most likely go again. While they have a lot of camping sites they are all spread out fairly well, so there is a good amount of distance between you and the next site. Plus there are plenty of trees for anyone who likes to put up a hammock. For a state park campsite the bathrooms seemed reasonably well kept. It was nice that the camping area had its own beach. It also had a playground, camp store, and snack bar. You can also rent canoes, kayaks, and water boards. So there is plenty to do. Cumberland is also close by. If you've never been, then check out the downtown part. It's nice. It's good for an hour or two walking around. They also have a scenic train ride to Frostburg and back. It's 3 hrs long with a 1 hr stop in Frostburg. The max speed is 18 mph, average is 10 mph, and they have a couple of quick stops. There is no real benefit to the first class seats, so just get the regular seats. You'll save a few bucks. I'm glad we went camping here.

Pretty location. Decent views. Unfortunately, all the images attached are not on any of the marked paths. There is a trail off of the road, called I think possibly the Indian gap trail. Most of these were taken along or near that trail, but it does not seem to be on the park maps. The park itself is a little confusing. Rocky gap road, which is near the park, does not get you into it. The visitor center is also not clearly marked and Google does not give you the correct address for it. If you are going just to hike, don't follow the traffic towards the lake. You can technically get to the trails from there, but will have to pay to get in. I recommend heading towards the casino and there is parking there or if you keep following the road, there is a small parking lot at the end of the road. If you don't want to see snakes, stay on the trail. My group saw what we believe to be some northern water snakes, and someone saw what they thought to be a rattlesnake. Still cool though. Just, be safe.

The perfect park and campground to visit if you have really active kids that crave constant activities! The park pretty had every aminity we could think of, and then some! We enjoyed swimming, boating, and hiking during the day, and warm campfires at night. Many of the campground buildings and amenities seemed very new. If you're in to gambling away your hard earned money, there's also a casino right outside the park that seemed pretty popular. It's far enough away that it doesn't interfere with the tranquility of the park. Well definitely be camping at this park again soon.

Omgosh where to start. Love Rocky Gap Resort definitely will be back.Everyone here are friendly. The Veiw of the river the Beach area golf course and so on. The Casino is amazing . its a must visit.

This is the forest gem of Maryland. The challenging trails that wind around the crystal lake Habeeb are hard core rural outdoor fun. Most people will miss the breath taking aerial of a canyon like view including soaring eagles on the opposite side of the casino. I love the tranquil peace of the rocky gap park.

3 cabins had 18 folks that convened in 1 site. Kids in that group played dead on road at night. Almost got hit by car. No ranger available. Not a diversity issue. This was a safety issue. The adults in that group weren't monitoring their kids safety.

I was there for camping and hiking, not the casino. The good- nice trails (curiously, I think only one trail- the relatively easy lake trail- showed up on REI's "Hiking Project" app), very clean bathrooms, they have pet friendly loops, staff was helpful, nice views, cabins if you want cabins. The bad- just one thing- highway noise. Katiedids too, but they're just part of nature's symphony. I don't know if it was a particularly heavy traffic night, but jack brakes and loud engines all night where we were- Fir Loop, 153- probably the closest loop and site to the highway. Much quieter spots available, I am certain. The map shows our actual path from Fir Loop to the dam. Looks like a mile, but was 1.7. Several trails I will do next time with more time. Can't see the lake from F loop, but several pads on I loop had nice views we saw as we hiked to the dam.

Lovable place for families and dogs. Water way warmer than in Deep Creek and no noisy gasoline boats zooming around. Dogs now have their own dedicated beach on sand area but usually allowed to stay near trees on shadowy areas.

We had a fantastic time at Rocky Gap! We paddled our hearts out on the cleanest clearest lake and had the most wonderful weather! We stayed on ironwood loop which was so close to the water, we even launched right off our campsite which made life so much easier for our heavy as frick touring kayaks. There were nice hot showers and facilities that were kept very clean. We wished we had reserved more nights, we will be back!

At first glance, the golf course appears pretty wide open, but once you get into your round, the challenges are exposed. The food was good, but very over-priced. The rooms were only ok; nothing to write home about. The staff was extremely courteous. All in all, the resort gets a satisfactory rating from me. Very nice place. Upscale even, but you don't have to be. Casual attire seems fine. Wood everywhere, and spacious interiors. Really enjoyed the views outside and being outside. Room to gather and spend with friends. Individual areas with gas fireplaces to sit around. A lake and Beach area, golfing, and of course gambling. This place pretty much has it all and the staff are very courteous and professional. I will return, for some bets and a nice beverage by the fire, waterside.

My experience was absolutely amazing the service is very good the food is delicious and you can buy toys and floats at the shop over been here multiple times bit this one was by far the best! I absolutely recommend coming here because you will have the time of your life!

Worst casino you will ever go to. Have been here myself over a dozen times and have never won anything. Everyone I converse with shares the SAME experience. Rewards are garbage and so are the areas in which to eat. Staff even expresses how dissatisfying this place is. Save your money and go ANYWHERE ELSE! I take my girlfriend and gamble the exact same and one of us sets $15 free slot play and the other $30 and it alternates. Save your money!!!

Great spots to set up whatever kind of camping you like, from simple tents to RVs, and cabins. You will be within sight of other camp grounds but we were not disturbed. Access to beach swimming, boat rentals, an aviary and more. Bathrooms are clean and within easy walking distance of all sites. Camp hosts are present at each site to help with issues. Camping is a two minute drive from the casino, restaurants, spa, golfing, etc.

The park itself is beautiful, too bad I couldn’t see it. After I was told the parking was full in one lot, they directed me to the casino lot. I parked there and as soon as I walked out of my car, I was rudely confronted by a security guard in a golf cart who told me I couldn’t park there. When I asked where I could park, she just told me to move my vehicle. And then drove away. Then I moved to a different lot, where I was told that lot was at capacity and I might as well “just leave the park”. They were incredibly rude to me and my guests. It was uncalled for and we were just trying to have a nice day in the sun. In summary, I spent about an hour driving around looking for parking on top of the hour it takes to drive to the park itself.

This park is beyond awesome. My family comes here multiple times each summer every year. It’s now some sort of tradition to come here, have a cookout, go for a swim, or go on the kayak. You can also go to the shop and get an inflatable for swimming or little kids or get ice cream! Outside the store there is a park for the little kids to play! Even though the shower stalls and restroom stalls could use a bit of more cleaning each week, it’s a great park overall.

There are two beaches on either side of the park. You have to bring your own charcoal and food to cook as well as tents for shade; however, there are trees for shade but the spots are first come first serve. In conclusion, it is a magnificent scenery with lots to do- boat rentals and hiking or even hike riding.

LGBTQIA and Dog Friendly Guide

We stayed at the campground. We have a 25 foot trailer camper so we stayed in the only electric loop. Short version: friendly staff, private sites, quiet, dog friendly, family friendly, extremely clean, lots to do, gender neutral family bathrooms and showers in each loop. Things to do: casino, concerts in outdoor amphitheater, biking, hiking, kayaking, beach, swimming, fishing, golf, guides nature hikes and probably more we haven’t explored. It is my new favorite campground and we will be back here a lot!

I go here three or four times a year to fish crystal clear water there's lots of fish it's a little hard fishing because tremendous amount of undergrowth but they got a great Campground nice Country Store nice clean beaches and I enjoy going here and archery and rifle deer hunting during the fall seasons serval times

This park is really one of the best places for a family camping trip. I'm not crazy about the casino or day access area. But the camping area has an awesome lakefront beach, canoe docks, and fishing piers. And since only campers are allowed in that area, it's never crowded. Lots of options for hiking, trail running, or mountain biking too. Just don't take my favorite campsite!

I use to love this place and visited with stay at hotel couple times a year. With the casino, I will not visit because the atmosphere has changed from relaxing and fun to loud and obnoxious. The service in the dining room has changed for the worse and so has the quality of the food.

We were here briefly to stretch our legs after a long drive from Ohio. There is a lot you can do at this park, camping, swimming, boat rentals, but we mainly used the facilities and walked around the lake for a bit. Beautiful scenery. People were enjoying the picnic and swimming facilities.

Rocky Gap State Park is a great place to visit. There are many activities that you can choose from... You can relax on on the beach, you can swim, kayak, fish, canoe, hike around the 240 acre lake. You can golf on the Jack Nicholas designed golf course and camp at the parks campgrounds. You can try your luck by visiting the Rocky Gap Casino. They have 3 different restaurants to choose from and all of them will quench your thirst for adult beverages. The casino has a hotel if camping is not your thing. Rocky Gap state park & casino are fun. Definitely worth a stay.

Great escape into the mountains. Stayed a couple of nights in a cabin and it was quiet and peaceful. Nice playground, hiking and enjoyed the beach at the lake. Lots of squirrels and snakes in the woods so make sure you carry a light at night and watch your step.

Apparently not enough parking to satisfy demand. Couldn't get in one day because parking lot was full by 10am. Got in second day. Swimming is in the reservoir. There's a sandy beach, but beyond that, you're swimming over a mud bottom with lots of plant life. It is a good place to bring the family for a swim and a picnic.

There is literally something for everyone: clean beach with canoes, kayaks and paddle boards, hiking/biking trails, and roomy campsites* equipped with picnic table, fire rings and grill grates. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Amenities were well kept and clean. We had an excellent time and hope to be back soon. *each individual campsite is not created equal. Some are a bit smaller and/or offer less privacy. Choose carefully.

The park itself was beautiful. I can't remember a time where it wasn't. The amenities are bountiful. But the rep at the day use check in area was very rude. I was charged an out of state rate for everyone in the vehicle based off the tags the car has. What makes it worse is we could have skipped parking there, parked at the casino and walked to the day area for free. But you can't argue with the views at the end of the day.

I visited Lb's, the restaurant attached to the casino. It was really nice to sit on the water and eat. The waiter was wonderful ave attentive. I onlly have them 4 stars because the only thing on my plate seasoned was the garlic potatoes.

Really nice place! Super nice people make the biggest difference. They are cool with truckers parking at casino ( certain place in the back ), but call and ask for Valet and they will direct you. Its a little narrow for a semi truck, but you have room. Tables & Slots as well. The people here are nice and friendly ( This is not your typical rude casino). Thank you Night Shift!

We waited 45 minutes for a table and never did get one. Apparently when the kitchen gets busy they stop seating patrons. A friend of the waitresses came thru and was able to get a table. I have never seen anything like it. Why wouldn't you seat people and let them know the kitchen us behind.

me and my parents almost got kicked out of the park after we’ve been told that it’s reached full parking capacity. when we were told to get out, one of your park rangers immediately assumed we’re of latin american ethnicity, when in fact we’re southeast asians. even though we got a refund for the parking ticket, we couldn’t even get out of the car just to meet a few people in the place. please do a better job at allowing visitors into this place. i’m not coming back here until you’ve improved your capacity conditions. thank you for coming to my ted talk.

The park is beautiful. Very well kept after. I would not drive there for the casino. It is the smallest casino I have ever seen. The motel is nice. It is far from anything. 10 miles to the next town. Traveling to there is a lot of steep mountains. Lots of truck traffic. Do not travel at night if not familiar with the roads. Even the entrance is confusing at night. Parking is not convenient for handicapped visitors.

Great park, beaches and wading at the lake are great for all ages, large grassy space for picnics and games. $2 for cars with Maryland plates and $4 for out-of-state plates was very reasonable.

Would totally be 5 stars if trash clean up was better! If you dont REALLY want the woods but wanna feel like you have em...this is the place to go.. plus beaches boating golfing and lots of wildlife!

Very nice campground. I like RV park at site 30. closed to bathroom and private and also only 5 min walk to down lake . Bathroom is so clean

Well laid out park providing separation between daily use area and amping area. Roads are good, AT&T phone plus data works, lots of trees and bushes between sites.

The trail you can walk just along the shore of Lake Habeeb is a really good hike. Hopefully you've eaten breakfast though and brought water unlike my cousin and I did once. Otherwise it's a great hike.

Very dog friendly! They have half the beach available for dogs to swim. It's awesome! I have been to several parks in MD and this one is so far the best!

Fun park with swimming, hiking, boating, golf, and volleyball. The location is surrounded by hills and mountains and is very beautiful. The water has always been very cold whenever I've been and it's not enjoyable to stay in for long periods unless you stay very active. There are rocks in the water and it's painful when you step on one. Other than these small gripes is a great park.

The park is nice but make sure you don't park at the casino, they will get very aggressive with you. My girlfriend and I went up unprepared and last minute. Had to walk about 10 minutes from the outdoor amphitheater (no cost to park). The bottom of the lake has large rocks that are sharp so water shoes are a must!

Great park! I visited for an extended weekend get away and was excited to find well maintained camp grounds with lakeside tent sites, ample kayak/boat launch points, a lake beach, and a good selection of hiking and biking trails.

Great park to go camping! Plenty of spots to pick from, with or without pets. Trails and a beach are close by. Restrooms and showers are always spotless, seems like they get cleaned 3 times a day. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

It's a beautiful place. But people haven't picked after their dogs which is really gross. Its everywhere. And feels bad to walk. We took our dog to the lake and there was the area which was full of dog poop near the lake. But the scenery is very beautiful.
