This Park belongs to the category of State park.
*Note to have in mind: wear or have with you a pair of sneakers* We just went to the rapids and to The King and Queen Seat, but I totally loved it and its an amazing place to go with the kids and have them enjoy nature in a safe place. Obviously, you choose where your kids can climb or just walk, but it's completely accessible and amazing.
We don't usually go to parks but it was highly recommended by a friend so went there. One hour drive was worth it. It was beautiful-reminded my home country Nepal for a moment. Walk from the parking to fall was quite, alone and soothing. On top of that standing under the fall was really amazing, felt like cleansed of all the sins in one day. Now this will be our go to stop for many weekends to come.
Gorgeous scenery, perfect for a quick stop on any nature lover's pass through. Doesn't require any intense hiking to access and has a beautiful lookout over the mountains. If this is a close trip for you or remotely along the way of your trip, make a point to stop.
Very peaceful and fun place to take the kids
terrible will never visit Maryland state parks again you need a reservation to hike
Great fishing!
The Rocks State Park is one of my favorite places to be. There are great hiking trails through the park. There are plenty of great views along the way. Rocks State Park gives you a chance to stretch your legs while enjoying the landscape too. There are bathrooms located throughout the park as well. The park is very well maintained too. The king and queens seats are pretty cool to see while you are there. It is a must see view from the top!
Very interesting, scenic, and adventuresome, with the huge rock outcropping!
We love visiting this place. Beautiful and peaceful!
Beautiful views with plenty of trails to explore.
Visited Hidden Valley Area of Rocks State Park in Pylesville. Nice little trail with spots to enjoy the water
I wish they could put a a bridge across the stream to the falls and better material on the path to get away from all those roots keep people from falling thank
Lovely Park! My kids and I really enjoyed the nice dip in the river.
Great place to go hiking an a beautiful day
I like the park and I love the areas that I can bring along my dog with me.
Here at Rocks State Park, they have a fine selection of delectable rocks that really tussle my jimmies. They have big rocks, small rocks, round rocks, oblong rocks, smooth rocks, and last but not least, medium-sized rocks. I thought I hit a deer here, but I think it was a hitchhiker due to the screams. 10/10 would hit again.
The King and Queen Seat is definitely worth checking out. But this park is VERY crowded. Avoided the waterfall if you're looking for a relaxing time, it's basically become a public pool.
Very beautiful! Just a quick hike to Kilgore Falls!
A great state park to hang out at! There is a lot to do. You can go to the waterfall or just swim in the river. Hiking trails are very abundant and take you to some awesome views like the King and Queens seat. If that's not your style you can always hang out and grill at one of the picnic areas.
Beautiful place to visit, the trails are nice and fun as well as the bit where you can climb some nice size rocks. I'd definitely recommend going!
Great place to hike and take in the scenery
Great day trip
Awesome as always ! Beautiful trails amazing waterfall
Love the place!! Clean, had a great time! Make sure to see the waterfall (book in advance)
Awesome place to visit. Breath taking views
I grew up within walking distance of the park. I spent most of my summer days swimming up at wilsons picnic area to climbing the king and queen seat or walking the 10 mile trail. Ive done everything the park has to offer. It used to only cost money on the weekend but its 2 dollaes weekdays and 5 weekends per car. Which helps maintain the park due to federal funding cuts. Here are some pictures from 1600ft.
Dont look Down
This was the first park my dad brought me to as a kid almost 50 years ago and we still come back to hike, fish and sit on the King and Queen seats. Pretty scenery, trails with varying levels of length and difficulty, decent trout fishing at times.
Nice little stroll to the waterfall. Parking was limited but was able to get a spot. Waterfall was worth the wait.
was a great place to go swimming with kids and fun family atmosphere
Awesome, but can be super packed most times.
I have been visiting Rocks State Park since I was a little girl. I've been fishing, tubing and hiking for decades. This park is a favorite of mine during all seasons. We have had family picnics there and love the hike up to the King & Queen seat. From up there the view is spectacular, especially in the fall when the leaves are colorful! They have a wonderful playground and I've had my grandchildren there many times.
Never disappoints... Go everydsy possibble...
Always aweing. Beautiful.
view in fall was not bad . so far
One of harford county's best parks hands down
great place for families on hot days
We used to come here on sunny days. The water is so cool and relaxing. Small walk from the parking may be within 1 mile. Good hike for families with babies. But not recommended for baby strollers. They have changed the rules from July 2019 that we have to book for our visit. We traveled all the way from North Carolina like 6 hours only for this waterfalls and not allowed inside. We requested the incharge persons for multiple times and they didn't let us inside.
Our family rented the Hills Grove Pavillion for my brothers Celebration of Life Gathering. I've lived in Harford County almost my whole life and been to the Rocks dozens of times but never in this spot. It's beautiful. The rangers were young, happy and friendly. They stopped by several times to make sure we were okay. It was a beautiful place to say goodbye to a beautiful person. Thank you.
This place is so peaceful. There is lots of trails and two points you must see. 1. King and queen seat 2.branch falls. Both are not next to each other. It takes 10/15 mins by car. You can see
Nice place for picnic and barbecue
Had an awesome time but not 1 trash can in sight for trash
Beautiful park.
Very pretty hike. It was short but fairly steep and rocky so it was very enjoyable. Had a very nice view at the top 120 ft drop
Fun place to visit
When you get to the top it's beautiful
One of the easiest trails in Maryland with a beautiful view
I grew up during my younger yrs of Life. Spent the summers their with family and friends. I have carried on the traditional with my 2 sons. Its been yrs since Ive been to the Queen and King seat. The rapids are better since they reconstructed them and did much needed work to Rock state Park.
Had a nice time. Didn't know that starting June 29, 2019 you gotta make a reservation during the week for a weekend trip. We drove 5 hours and didn't get to see Kilgore Falls.
Great place to go very peaceful
A Lovely place to take a hike ... fly a kite or whatever you like. They have a bit of everything for the adventurous outdoorsy people from glampers to mountaineers.
I ventured out to the King and Queen Seat with my little friend Foxy. It was during the week in the morning in November. Being out in nature is a great way to renew yourself and just breath. There were a few people on swings at the entrance to the trail. It's a very flat easy short trail. I've been going there since I was a child and I know those cliffs are dangerous if you get too close to the edge so please be careful. Much to my surprise as I was climbing up the rocks I saw 3 turkey vultures at the end. Tried to get a close up but they are big and have a six foot wing span and was afraid one would take off with my little 6 lb puppy! Silly me. As I was heading back to the car I saw a few big birds circling and cawing and my little ankle biter starting barking at them it was so quiet out there. Found out later, after losing a $5.00 bet with my son, that turkey vultures do not have a voicebox! I'm still wondering what those birds were.. until the next time..
Beautiful place.
Great place for local hikes. Also good for budding geologists, as the "Rocks" are quartzite and meta-conglomerate.
There r all kinds of things 2 do there it is on deer creek which leads 2 d susquehanna river they ha e hiking 2 a king's & queen seat made out of rocks rock climbing and so much more
The female rangers are super rude.
Hiking trails and an excellent overlook on the king and queen seat. There is a small parking lot and a few parking areas. Get here early in the summer to get a parking spot. Otherwise go in the fall or winter and there is almost no one there. This is a great place to see the leaves in fall.
Beautiful place! Will definitely return... Loved the trail and the scenery!
Beautiful, challenging trails and hikes. Rapids once you get down the trail. Great photo opportunities, great backdrops and rocks galore. Waterfalls are the treasure at the end of the journey.
Beautiful sunset, able to drive up near the top 200 yards to rocks. Best if dry. Seniors in shape, easy walk to rocks. Best when no or few leaves on trees. 192 feet up at first entrance when going north. Take 2nd entrance to drive to top
Tubing, picnic areas, hiking, playgrounds! Come spend a couple hours or the day. Your family will love it!
Clean, peaceful...there was a LOT of space, grills, tables, and the water was clean. We had the best time!!
Just drove thru but its beautiful
Super wonderful hiking area
Beautiful park, great trails leading up to the king and queen seat, which is a awesome area for taking pictures.
It was an easy trail to follow!!
Kilgore Falls is such a fantastic spot! It is an easy hike to the falls and an always cool waterfall greets you upon arrival. Bring a picnic lunch bc you can spend the whole day here exploring, swimming and just having fun!
We came looking for pawpaw but found none, that's okay though because we still had a wonderful hike. The trails here are well maintained but can be challenging and fun.
Just spectacular. I saw the sign from the highway and decided to go for a hike on my way home from a long business trip. I'm glad I made the stop. Too bad I live far away otherwise I'd come here to explore more.
Amazing park, dont forget to go to King and Queen seat...you'll enjoy a memorable view
Beautiful spot. Always make it up to the king and queen seat if possible.
An incredible hike, I recommend doing the 2 mile loop ad ending up at the King and Queen's seat last, it builds up to a nice finale and a great place to rest before heading back to your car!
Good for trekking and hill climbing. Can be a bit risky if you have altitude sickness. It might be slippery as well. It's however such a wonderful place for adventure.
Love going to this place, there is nothing wrong with this waterfall exept for the fact that it is now so popular that a lot of people come here but the place doesn't have that much of parking spaces. You have to get there early to get a spot on a weekend. However it's only 15 minute walk to waterfall and great place to hang out, the park rangers care for the park so you have to watch where you walk and most of the time its clean. I bring my dog there too. She loves it.
Nice clean place great hiking
It is a lovely park with great walking trails. There is also a dramatic rock outcropping with great views. It is called the King and Queen Seat. Some people rock climb there.
It is a nice short hike to the falls. But beware that there is no dry crossing to the bottom of the falls, your feet get soaked. I gave it 3 stars due to the new requirement to get a permit from the park office several miles away to hike to the falls between memorial day and labor day. Very inconvenient.
Must see - the King and Queen seat rock formation. More than one picnic area. Very beautiful place!
Nice park. Lots of rocks. Nature is beautiful!
Lots of fun
Great park for tubing, hiking, swimming and picnicking. One of the gems of Harford county.
Beautiful scenery!
Lovely rocky views in an area not usually known for geological formations.
Cool place I didn't feel I was in MD anymore.
Hiked the white trail many times, also visit the rapids off the main road. One of my favorite hikes.
Beautiful. Lovely places to play for kids and dogs. And picnic areas as well. We will be heading back when it's warmer!
I love this waterfall!!! It's such a great way to spend the day. You can go high above the waterfall and peek down over the falls. If your afraid of heights stay low and catch the cool mist spray from the waterfall. Walk the trails. Climb the rocks. Have a picnic
This a nice park. Swimming, fishing, cooking out. And it's all free. What's not to like?
Out of the way, nice place, was use to the Delaware Water Gap and it's waterfall. This one was a lot smaller. Not bad if you are a local.
The only place in Harford County that I feel totally relaxed. Crowded on weekends, of course, but usually I can still find a place for Rowynn and I to swim or cool off.
Perfect park for families. Great trails with interesting geological features for kids to climb and explore. Theres also a wide range of picnic areas, a natural playground, and water activities in Deer Creek. Our favorite park.
There is a short walk to get to Kilgore Falls, which requires you to cross a creek which is about 6 inches deep. An easy walk, but bring shoes that you don't mind getting wet.
Great trails, easy parking, great people
Amazing MD state park with a majestic lookout at the King & Queens seat. Part of the filming of Tuck Everlasting, too!
A great place to unwind for yourself or with the kids.
Beautiful just beautiful
Good outside stuff to do! King and and Queens seat is amazing. Makes you realize how lucky I am to be here
Lots of great trails and some wonderful waterfalls
This park lives up to its name. Beautiful, rocky park with great hiking.
The King & Queen cliffs were amazing. The hike there was enjoyable and the whole area is worth exploring.
A good selection to drop while for the grid if you're looking for A-day trip. You can't beat the beauty of mother nature.
Beautiful park! Trail Dames initiated one of our new hike leaders here!
Awesome place to spent with family and friends
Its a nice relaxing state park with lots to do❗
Nice park clean. You can go fishing there or You Tube there and take the kids to the playground. There's also picnic tables grills and a fun place for the family to go.
Nice spot to go swimming.
Too many thongs, I have young kids
No signs for directions. The maps at the parking lot are the worst I have ever seen (I'm an eagle scout). There are no directions for how to get to Kilgore falls. You have to have a cell phone to find some parking, but this place has no cell phone coverage, so you can not look at maps on your phone. Kids with inter tubes walking across the road from the rapids to the parking lot, how dangerous. They even place the maps so that you have to bend over to read them, they aren't at eye level. (I'm 5'9") And they can't even use the excuse that the map is placed low for children, because no child could understand their map. I have been to a lot of state parks, and this one was the worst.
Good hiking trails
Fantastic hike with spectacular views. Better be in good shape!
Always a good hike
Love this place! Only con is they want you to pay to use there park. Most people don't, not like anyone's watching anyways
Had a great time with the family. Will be going back many more times.
Quick hike to the falls. Best time to go is right at sunrise when it isn't too busy yet!
Nice park with well maintained trails.
All ways a great place for the Envirothon training.
Great views from king and queen seat. Moderate hiking level with the white trail being about 2.5 miles.
I would have given a much higher score if I didn't have to pay. It is RIDICULOUS to have to pay admission to visit nature! Any funding needed to keep the park looking nice should come from the incredibly high state taxes we pay, NOT admission fees!!!!
Gorgeous hike! King and queen seat has amazing views and Kilgore falls is an awesome site - you can hang around the bottom and climb to the top! Highly recommend for a fun day hike
White trail has Two small parking lots and port-o-pottie. Well marked trails.
Very nice and scenic area.
The King & Queen Seat is always worth a visit any time of the year.
Nice drive . Don't climb the King and Queen seats. Two weeks ago another person died climbing to the seats. Hartford county in my opinion would rather give themselves a raise then fence off the King & Queen seats to keep people from the danger of climbing to the seats.
The hike is phenomenal
My family loves to hike here, up to the King and Queen's seat. Beautiful view and a nice break after a partially steep hike (white trail) before heading back down. Can get crowded around the rocks at the top on good weather weekends.
Gorgeous scenery, just please be safe and do not litter....
Me and wifey had funy
If can get to the falls it's really great. Need to reserve your spot on weekends soon
We love it when the water is running high. Great paddling day!
The creeks and waterfalls are wonderful but exceptionally crowded on the weekends.
Amazing view ! Refreshing !
This place is beautiful. Waterfalls and small bridges. I took my 11 and 14 year old girls for a very relaxing and peaceful walk in the trails. We climbed and took turns holding he baby. Great for all ages. Definitely a great place for nature pictures. We will be going back with a picnic lunch. Parking was great. Don’t bring a stroller if you have a baby, bring a chest/back carrier.
Best place to be in hot summer
Grew up here. The vistas the boulders under your feet, who does not love to lounge on the face of this great rock with the sun warming you on a cool fall or spring day.
Plenty of benches for picnics a playground swings , a miniature rock climbing area for smaller kids and of course the kind and queen seats and the river.
Love this place. We had our wedding here.
I love this Park even when I was a kid now was an old man I still enjoy it
