This Park is classified in the category of Park.
I enjoyed this park. I went on the Beaver Marsh Trail. It's an interesting trail. I liked the Paw Paw trees. We don't have them in NJ. At least, I've never seen them in NJ
The beach was beyond dirty. Plastic and food everywhere. I can deal with driftwood and even a couple dead fish, but a paid place should clean up a little! It was a cool day and we were the only people on the beach. And the FLIES were UNBEARABLE! The swarmed us. We couldn't stay. As we left we saw a little fox pup with bad mange in the parking lot area. Not a single person to be found to inform. I guess the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because I grew up going here. But this review is mostly about the beach area 2 weeks ago
couldn't go up into the lighthouse but the walk was nice and the beach was beautiful
This is a good campground. Nice facility. Don't like the no alcohol policy. Motor homes are exempt, what's with that?
There's something for the entire family to enjoy at Elk Neck State Park. Hiking trails and cliff top views of the upper Chesapeake Bay just to name a couple. The fishing is awesome as well! There's a campground to stay at too!
Beautiful view, unfortunately light house not open week days
Beautiful park that juts out into the Chesapeake. Several easy hiking trails, a beach area, and a boat launch area are all available. The lighthouse at Turkey Point is also worth the short hike. My kids had a great time. Definitely will be back.
Really great place. Fun for family. Tents or cabins.
Beautiful/delicious food....Yammy
Nice little trail to walk out and about on to see an old lighthouse, easy access and trail is wide
Wonderful park employees, great camp host Paul and Sarah miles loop 172. We stayed in the nonelectric sites with outstanding views of the river. Small sacrafice for views but would suggest electric especially summer month's for the elderly and smaller children. The bathrooms were recently updated and very clean. Grear showers with handicap accessibility. Would highly recommend this state park.
Stay was nice but our bathhouse was not cleaned everyday
Very beautiful state park. Well maintained. Variety of hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty. Great place to see eagles.
It's a beautiful beach to visit. Only complaint would be the beach area should be racked up a bit so the little ones dont get hurt with all the wash up from the water.
I came here as a kid now my girlfriend and I stayed twice in the past 2 months, beautiful scenery, great view, nice camp store. One thing I will add, bring a hammer to hammer in your tent stakes. The camp sites are filled with rocks and it makes it difficult to set up your tent
Beautiful spot. Great folks.
Wonderfully maintained trails, great hiking. Eagles and wildlife and refreshing.
Always an adventure, unfortunately got hit by a tornado so portions are blocked off but nonetheless theres always stuff to do.
Very nice, quite place in the section we stayed in. Bathroom nice too.
Amazing place for camping. Our daughter (19 months) really enjoyed playing and sleeping under the open sky(inside a tent, but still could see the sky).
Great place for small families or large groups.
One of the nicest parks I have been in
Great place with a great view. Had a fun time time there. The place is really huge. It has all the outdoor adventures like zip lining, tree hiking, kayaking. It has great cabins. All clean and nice with bunker beds. There are different sections for different things like a separate place for food, indoor activities, etc. They have ping pong, pool, indoor soccer and basketball play place too.
Been here a couple of times. The view of the bay from Turkey Point Lighthouse is great. The nearby town is really nice too. Parking spots at Turkey Point Lighthouse are limited but you'll probably get a spot after waiting for about 10 minutes on an average.
Very scenic park with picnic tables, a pavilion, camping and swimming. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. I highly recommend this park.
I live out here so might be a little biased but it is a great place
Park was ok. Lots of cockroaches which I don't expect to see while camping. They did a fantastic job cleaning up after the tornado that hit the day before we arrived. Got asked to move our tent at 8:30 at night. If you're gonna drive though, why not do it early enough so there's light?
My son and I had a fun hike on the Beaver Marsh Loop trail, and other trials around there.
Great place to camp and fish. Sites are easy to get into/out of and rate for electric spot is fairly cheap. Would definitely recommend to any nature lovers- saw so many deer it wasn't funny.(Also saw a Turkey)
My family has been coming to this state park since I was a little kid! I love it here! I love being able to see the water from my campsite!
Nice to go even off season. Saw bald eagles flying low overhead. Nice paths too.
Definitely need trash cans. And the portapotty are a nightmare. Don't go in them.
This is a great park, with a variety of hiking trails and a small beach area. We have enjoyed hiking and camping here.
Great camping locale; we did the mini cabins and they were very simple but on the whole the park was well maintained and clean. Great trails and views, lovely family weekend.
We had a great weekend-long stay here. Lovely camp site. Staff were helpful and friendly. Great value. Loved the trails. The restrooms were well-maintained. The dogs had a great time. Definitely will go back! Make sure you pack a "Deep Woods" bug spray and have your pets updated on their vaccination: - Ticks! but also -Woods! So no surprise there :).
My first visit to Elk Neck- I truly enjoyed the trails, the 'beach', the lighthouse and the camping. This is situated smack dab between Philly and Baltimore and is about 1.5 hours from either direction. Elk Neck is located on a fairly rugged and isolated spec of peninsula. Cell service is spotty. Elk Neck offers a camp store with some basic camp Neccessities including food. Sadly there's no boat rentals here so bring your own kayak or canoe as it's situated at the mouths of 3 major rivers. Sites are very spacious. Some sites allow pets. Rumor has it raccoons are prevalent so plan your camping accordingly.
Totally loved the place. Water arrangement somewhere nearby would have been really great/ Good scenery and silent place to relax.
Very nice rv park. Roads in park are all paved. The park is well maintained and groomed. Has full hook ups available and dry camping and everything in between. Quiet with nice playground areas for kids. Has access to the Elk River where you may swim or fish. Boat ramp available. There are many trail available for hiking. Also ranger talks at various times. A camp store is on the premises. Not unusual to see deer, squirrels, chipmunks and other assorted wildlife. Just outside the park is Turkey Point lighthouse which makes a good say trip. Very close by. Also across the road from the park is a beach area to the Elk River. Park has very reasonable rates. Cabins are available to rent.
Outstanding campsites and wonderful scenery. I fish so the boat ramps are important and theseramps are the best you will find.
We visited the Turkey Point Lighthouse. It was wonderful! The hike there was pretty easy. It was a wide, gravel covered road with a few mild climbs. Once you arrive, the lighthouse offers spectacular views of the bay. It was closed the day we were there but according to the signs you can climb it on Saturdays and Sundays. I would definitely recommend it for a fun family outing.
We picnicked at the northeast beach. Beautiful view of the bay and a very nice beach. Bathroom facilities are spotless and clean. A good number of grills and tables great way to spend the day. Highly recommended
One of my favorite state parks in Maryland. Nice beach area. Large campsite. Both mini and larger cabins available. Well maintained bath houses. Several nice hiking trails.
We camped at Elk Neck in the mini cabins. They were clean and well maintained. The bathhouses were spotless and looked new. The beach area has a bathhouse and plenty of picnic tables and parking, and despite down trees from tornado damage, the park is beautiful. My only complaint is that the camp store and nature center were both closed and the grass around the cabins and fire tings was ankle high and really needed to be mowed. I would suggest the have a kayak and sup rental at the beach. That would be perfect!
Love this Place! Great place to camp very nice sites cozy. Workers are nice. Love going down to the beach and cooling off in the summer. Campground is gated with some security. Doesn't allow bigrigs which is nice. Very quiet will come back!
My grandson got married at the lighthouse and the views were unbelievable .Everyone had a great time.
There is a entrance fee to the beach. However they cant accept card transactions. That was a real bummer. Especially since I traveled a few hours to get there. They should consider updating there pay system to permit people to use their atm or credit cards..
Nice park, the camping was great, too. The beach was really nice, and the lighthouse was pretty cool.
I enjoyed the views of the upper bay it was very scenic. The trail leading to the lighthouse was 20 minutes and is full of wildlife like deer, hawks, eagles, raccoons, and etc..
Nice beach, showers were clean, lots of picnic tables not too crowded
Very nice campsites, showers, and bathrooms.
Should have hours during the week also. But the view is great
Great campground with family friendly hiking trails, playgrounds, and lots of other day activities. Wye loop playground = swings+monkey bars; playgrounds outside of park store and elk loop are larger, more modern. Beach has sand but getting on water is rocky so bring water shoes! Trail to lighthouse is pretty flat but only partially shaded.
Good place to go to enjoy an afternoon with the kids
It's a fun little hike. Plenty of deer and eagles to be seen.
Beautiful park. Lots of deer!
Very nice camping area, good accommodations for tent and rv campers . Bathrooms were clean and conveniently located in each circle. Only thing lacking was at the beach area, play ground was kind of ratty and not much to it and the beach itself appeared to not be very well maintained. I understand with all the rain and high water levels that some debris has washed up but still should be cleaned up once in a while. All in all its a very nice camping area with lots to do . We will be going here again.
Beach on a budget live this place only 5 bucks for out of staters
They are still recovering from storm damage making some of the trails closed. Nature center was nice and naturalist Abby very friendly.
The dnr employees (i think thats who they are) are extremely friendly and helpful. If you get lost trying to navigate the area like we did, they are happy to help.
Beach usually keeps a small crowd during regular days (non-holiday). Would suggest some type of water/ beach shoe. The first 10ft of sand going into the water is very rocky but after that the surface is normal.
I enjoyed myself even got crabs from a crab shack that's right before entering the Park how cool is that....
Beautiful camp grounds....great activities for campers
It's very Nice spent the day out in the camp grounds... with Family
great spot AnD trail run
This place is beautiful it's the best of both worlds a forest and beach. Plenty of walking area. Nice picnic areas as well. Bathrooms open in summer.
Specially in the afternoon, when the sun is on the verge of setting down, it can give you a heavenly view. The cold bridge that gently blows continuously will refresh your mind. The gentle rays of sun may bring back the light you need in your life. If you spend some moment with the one you love holding her hand, that adrenalin rush inside your body is something you have never experienced.
Beautiful views, I grew up spending hours exploring the trails. Watching the deer is very relaxing
Amazing place to go we the family the kids love it
What a great place kids had lots of fun
windy paths thru the woods along the water, reminded me of when i was a teenager finding comfort in the cradle of nature. ***note- wear bug spray and beware of ticks. they are everywhere.
I was disappointed with paying $35 for my family to get in and the beach was filthy, if you don't bring water shoes be prepared for the big rocks along the entire water and in the water until you reach a certain point. The bathrooms were not well kept either.
We love it here! The beach part is our favorite. There is nothing better than floating your problems away on the Chesapeake. One of my favorite parts of summer is coming here.
Great beach for families! It is a very rocky beach, so bring water shoes.
Stayed in a cabin there for the first time. Bring a good air mattress, and unlike me you will sleep just fine. If you weigh more than 200 lbs, and have shoulders on the broad side; you may have a difficult getting comfortable.
It's a very quiet and serene place to visit yet it has a few issues... The North East Beach has lots of rocks so where swim shoes. There are lots of tree limbs and branches throughout the beach area. (A baseball field sifter would help in clearing it up) The shore line has lots of corrosion. Trash cans? No where to be found despite the fact that you are charged per person in your vehicle. On a good note, it is a very nice place to watch the sunset. You can bring a grill as they have quite a few picnic tables and the restrooms are very well maintained. (On my walk by the shoreline, I did see a syringe. (No bueno)
Nice walk out to the lighthouse, great view. Dirt and gravel trail is well maintained. They have 2 port a pottys at the lighthouse area.
This is a place that I have went to two times and the food is pretty decent the movies are good and the lessons and activities are amazing. I would recommend you sending your child to North Bay. Just in case don't put your phone near the side of the bed if it's next to the wall
Awesome for youth groups of all kinds. Bring bug spray for the beach or stay far from the biting flies in the shade.
Couldn't find a good fishing spot. Nice beach area for swimming. Would be great for kids
The light house is about a half mile walk one way, with a stone path. Parking is limited at the light house. The lot was full, but the ranger said we could wait until someone left and take their space. There was no charge to visit the light house and you could even climb up to the top. (You must be at least 42 inches tall since there is a ladder at the top which is not suitable for small children). There were porta potties at the light house, but not at the parking lot. In September, there were tons of butterflies.
Fun place to visit. Great historical site.
Love boating n swimming here
Nice view of river, supposedly has a gift shop but never open when I went
Friendly staff, some damage from tornado but everything was open
Great camping be location. If you hike to the lighthouse go early. Only 20 parking spots
Great place to go walking and sight seeing.
Loved this place, self guided and great walk to lighthouse.
The great view up by the lighthouse
Beautiful and awesome place, peaceful and refreshing!
I mostly ride my mountain bike here. Trails are awesome, there is some gnary trail, and some real good flowy sections.
Couldn't see entire park, got there to close to Sun down. But, very much liked that they have cabins one can rent. Also liked the closeness to both the Elk river and Chesapeake Bay. A whole lotta fishing can be going on. And of course, one can cook your catches right in the park. If you don't catch anything, then their's A lot of seafood restaurant s close by. Even crab houses. A seafood lovers dream.
The history alone I love about this place, the British landed here 1813 or so. When the burnt down Baltimore and Washington DC.. The lighthouse is on a 100+ foot cliff and the scenery is 2nd to nothing. Just jaw dropping beautiful. Plus on the weekend in between June and September, you can go into the lighthouse. Which that is just awesome.
Way more to do here than I thought
First time there. Definitely going back
Lots of hiking trails!! I had such a nice afternoon hiking to the historic lighthouse! Drove down to the beach area and it was very nice!! A great state park with lots to do between biking, hiking and general enjoyment of the park I can't possibly do it all! Plus, every season is unique!!
Love this place.... sites are a little small so I would hesitate bringing a camper longer than 25' in there. I have a 24' and it was right to get in. Site was large enough though, maybe there are larger sites there, so ask first. The campground is very nice, camp store is well stocked. 30 amp service. I do believe they have areas with 40amp, water and sewer. 2 dump and water hoses at exit from the park. We camp here at the least once ayear, and we will definitely continue,
Really clean and peacefully..we will be back,.again and again
Elk neck is a great place to spend a day at the beach without going all the way to the shore. There are almost no waves so it’s perfect for small children. Beach area is not the biggest, but the bathrooms were clean and it was nice to rinse off in the shower before we left
Elk Neck, was a very clean, and quite park.We enjoyed the sites.Paved spot for camper,or tent, and cars.Bathrooms are well maintained. They have a big camping store.Just remember to bring water,or something to get water from sink. They have sinks to wash your dishes, outside the bathrooms. They have lots of playgrounds. The picnic tables are long enough for about 10 people. They have park rangers, that ride around,to protect the campground. They have a big beach, just bring swimming shoes. The beginning of the water has rocks. After that is Sandy bottom. If you camp at Park, the fee for beach is free.
Been going there for years. One of my favorite places!! Went there today and was so scary to see all the damaged trees from the tornado the other week, but grateful it wasn't alot worse.
One of my beloved, sacred place 45 yrs ago when it was much less visited. One of my favorite places to watch the Sunset.
Very nice place to relax..
The nature trial lead to breathtaking vistas!
Husband took boyfriend there. Wayne Salmon Sr
1st time there, very clean and pretty. People were very nice. Planning to go again.
Beach area was very dirty. Quiet time was not enforced, there was some sort of religious group there and talking till 4 : am in the morning. We had to tell them to quiet we could not get any sleep
Nice hike to lighthouse, cliff overlook, or a beach; just watch out for the big rocks in the water, you will need shoes.
Trail to lighthouse is well maintained. The main park had just been hit by a tornado the evening before.
Nice campground. Nice hikes to go on.
We camp here with our children every year. It is very reasonably priced for the cabins. Our cabin has three beds, table, stove, sink and electricity. It is called a rustic cabin we love it. Great fishing and beach. Swimming is also permitted. I would definitely recommend this park.
Always a great place to visit. Saw many different birds today, including a female turkey.
Good food but pricey. But everything around Niagara Falls is pricey, so not surprised.
always a pleasant place to go, relatively quiet as state parks go
Very beautiful place to visit, needs to be dry in some areas, but very beautiful..
trails are short and disconnected. $5 per person for out of state tags is a bit steep.
Very scenic peaceful, good for bike riding, hiking fishing and swimming. The park has a very nice feel to it.
We recently stayed at the campground at Elk Neck State Park. We stayed in the North East loop, which had water and sewer hook ups. The campground is really nice and quiet. You will see deers and other wildlife. The campground is clean and affordable. The only downside is that there is no cable tv connection, it's difficult to get any TV reception through an antenna. Also phone service is limited and you cannot connect to the internet. The campground store does have WiFi if you need to use it. The North East loop has trees, but is mostly cleared off. All of the other camping loops, are literally in the woods. Our site was nice, but the grass around the lot was a little high. Park Rangers are always on patrol around the campground. Overall this is a great place to stay.
It was closed because the storm but is better than others
My family and I love this park! It's scenic, there's great fishing, you can camp and BBQ. Wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors and have a cook out on a beautiful day.
Beautiful serene surroundings. Camp host helpful if you forget your mattress air pump
Best place ever, large sites and extremely clean a lot of wildlife. Bathrooms are the absolute cleanest. The ride out on peninsula is beautiful. We will return for sure.
Beautiful boating and a plethora of bald eagles
Loved the campground loop we stayed in. Large Site and Full Hookups. Nicely Shaded, Clean and Well maintained restrooms & showers. Would Recommend Highly
Clean park, friendly staff. Loved the terrain and views from the hiking trails
A cool place to look around and hike. There was a wait to get into the parking lot when I was here. I wish there was more parking. There is a nice hike out to the lighthouse. You can go up in the light house and look around. I like seeing the lighthouse from across the Bay in Betterton MD. Be sure to stop at "Barbara's by the Bay" while you are there!
Loved it!!!! Would be great if campsites had a water spicket and at least one electrical outlet Just a too far to go if you want to go swimming But, overall a nice place to visit
Nice 1 mile hike to the light house. Parking lot is small. Had to wait for about 20 min for a spot.
I'm giving it 4 stars because of something that happened a week ago. It has nothing to do with the state park or anyone who works there. About a week ago a tornado ripped through the park and downed numerous, numerous trees and caused major amounts of damage. The park itself was closed for an entire week while they cut up all the trees that were down across so many roads going through the park. The devastation I saw was incredible, and that was just looking into the forest and seeing tree after tree down on the ground and how they were split or broken off halfway up the tree. Now I totally can relate to the type of damage that would occur to structures and homes if a twister traveled through an area like that.
This will make me the 700th review of this place. location is clean well lit well marked has ample bathrooms and is wheelchair accessible and most locations. Parking is ample, not alot to worry about here.
A great place to enjoy
Looking for a hukebto a lighthouse? How about a beach? Or maybe you wanna go fishing. Whatever that summer activity is your looking for they have it.
Gorgeous park, up kept very well. I love going here and getting in touch with nature. Great place to clear your head
Nice place to hike to.
Great place to hike very beautiful creation from God!
My dogs love the trails.
Great place to visit if you like history.
Excellent views from the campground of the bay! The hiking trails are well maintained. Great for kayaking. We will definitely be back!
Great park to spend time at the beach or on a walk. Visit the Turkey Point Lighthouse and enjoy the flora and fauna.
Realky nice camp ground with a well stocked camp store.
Nice little scenic hike out to the lighthouse..
Need more parking or shuttle from another lot to accommodate what is obviously a popular place. Parking lot exit has some major pot holes that need fixing.
All state land in CECILTUCKEY is BEAUTIFUL! As long as they leave it alone and let the wildlife alone !
Absolutely love this place, if you are thinking of visiting or camping it is an absolute must.
I love this park, one of the best even though its smallish and not thaaaat remote it feels like true wilderness in parts, and you can still get brunch while camping. Check out Spork Cafe near by. Only thing is I wish they would widen 272 and make a bike lane, its very popular with cyclists (myself included) but the twists and turns throufg the park towards the point are dangerous and cars go way over the speed limit. Thats the only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars. Also, super clean campground bathrooms!
One of the nicest places you can go to
Nice beach area and cabins were very clean also bathroom areas and showers were very clean. Park staff was helpful.
Had a wonderful time camping there and inexpensive.
Beautiful beach, but people where playing music too loud, and there was some trash in the sand. Be aware to take some water shoes, since it is very rocky
Great scenic routes, however the beach is currently closed.
Nice and calm hike. Wapiti Pond has just enough variation in terrain and hills to stay interesting while also having extremely low traffic for the middle of a mid-May Sunday.
Amazing..nice 1 mile walk no steep hills..view well worth the walk.
Really nice and peaceful. Good place to launch your kayak too!
Always a good time there. Got a little cold while we there. Just made the fire bigger for extra heat. We had thanksgiving there. We have a lot to be thankful for. If you love to camp in any kind of weather, elk neck has a lot to offer at any time of the year
Such a nice little park! I went to the beach in the evening to avoid the crowds, and it was so peaceful. Very well maintained hiking trails as well!
We had a wonderful time there
Awesome park would visit alot more
Nice place to walk. Clean amd well maintained.
This is an extremely large and wide open camping and state park facility. There are plenty of walking trailsoh, the bathrooms are clean and the gift store is very knowledgeable not only about the area but about the items that they sell as well. It is okay to build a campfire here. Alcohol is completely forbidden as it is a state park. this is one of the State Park camping areas where you were definitely not going to feel your place right on top of each other.
