REVIEWS OF Grand Isle State Park IN Louisiana

Crystal Wofford

Absolutely love this place! Great vacation spot! Has been my family's vacation spot for over 10 yrs!

Vijay Narayanasamy

It was a perfect camping experience until we got devoured by mosquitoes on the last day. The itching persisted for nearly a month. I never had such a reaction to mosquito bites. It’s more than 5 stars but for mosquitoes

LEAH SAKS

We absolutely loved this park! Well kept. Beautiful grounds. We explored the Nature Center and hung out at the Beach. Nice hike in the area. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Kai Reed

Delightful park, well maintained, great location. Paid showers were OK, just make sure you have enough change. Good WiFi at the office but none in the campground.

Phil Sanders

Nice primitive park on Lake Champlain

Erik S

One of the nicest campground in the VT state park system. Too bad there isn't a ton of things (typical camping like hikes and such) to do in the area. If you have a boat it's great, if you don't..check out Sandbar State Park and Alburgh Dunes for really nice beaches.

Olivier Laporte

Nice camping grounds. Clean and a nice (however rocky) beach

Lisa Mcfarlin

What a beautiful natural beach! We will be back!

Justin Rice

Camp ground is great! Private wooded sites and public facilities including showers. Beach is all rock so not good for swimming

Daniel Herbert

Great place to fish.

Lionel Glaude

Great fishing, boat launch, dog friendly, nice campground.

Jessica Cotaya

Absolutely beautiful and very clean facilities!

Barbara Erickson

Place is awesome. We had a great spot and had tons of fun kayaking swimming fishing building memories.

CHB Wien

Nice beach but no shade.

Black Rose

My family and I had a pretty good time, but I don't think it's on our list of places to go back. They are way to strict with their noise ordinance. It's hard to feel comfortable there, especially when there are golf carts driving around 24/7. It's just anxiety provoking. They did allow dogs though, which is a huge plus and the main reason we picked this place out. Although our campsite neighbors also had a dog and when their dog ran over without a leash we weren't upset at all, it happens, but they made some unpleasant comments because my dog barked a couple times around 9:00 pm. The canoe and kayak rentals are pricey. We went to Button Bay State Park a couple years ago and their prices were much more reasonable. There is a beach, but I couldn't tell about it because no dogs are allowed there, but the boat access area and where the kayaks are was small but very pretty. Dogs are allowed there. The camps sites are to close together for our comfort and the majority of them we saw were very small and consisted more of the rock driveway then grass. My sister, her boyfriend and my niece were fortunate enough to have brought air mattresses, but my fiancé and I didn't and it was uncomfortable sleeping on rocks, and my sister even gave us the less rockier area. This State Park seems to attract certain type of people, which is why I brought up the situation with our neighbors. None us of had a friendly or welcoming feeling being there, but we still had fun amongst ourselves. I posted a couple pictures of our campsite and you can see what I tried explaining about the rocky campsites.

Aavery Mundt

Ohh Grand isle... We landed just in time to get the wafting smell of the freshly spread manure from the local farm. It wasn't so bad on the first day or the last but the second day was a tad overwhelming. Thankfully we had plans to go hiking near Stowe. The park is small the staff is friendly and the amenities are decent. It was over all, even with the manure smell a great experience and I would consider going back again. We tried our best to kayak out to fish bladder island on some light chop but turned around and had beers on the beach instead. The beach is rocky and not good for swimming, which was a bit of a bummer, but overall a good experience. Close to Burlington and other attractions, not far from decent restaurants or a grocery store to get camp food and grill.

Charles Guido

Nice campground, well maintained and clean. The downside, no hot water in the sinks and showers are coin operated

justin morton

Ganesh Mendarkar

Good place for a drive .. very green and peaceful .. well preserved nature . Can circle around the park in jungle and can stop at multiple pint of interest or can take trail .. not bad for the price .. should not take more than 2 hours .. we were lucky to see an alligator soaking in the sun :)

Seth Greaves

Brittany Rodrigue

It's the beach!!! Who doesn't like the beach.

m i

We the beach and fishing, but hate the mosquitoes

Rochelle Crow

Nice beach. Although no dogs are allowed so we spend most of the time on the public beach one mile down the road where dogs are welcome. Nice showers, decent price. Great food at Joe Bob's. Interesting place, glad we discovered the area!

Nick Audet

I went here with my family a couple of months ago. The campground is right on Lake Champlain, providing easy access for canoeing or using a paddle boat. There are plenty of paved roadways between campsites, perfect for biking on. The facilities also appeared to be quite clean and the park staff was helpful and friendly.

Demilysse Ortega

It was beautiful i love the beach

Hillary Marzook

Lovely hiking trails. Very nice camping location. Very clean park.

Buddhika Hettiarachchi

Nice and quiet. Great place for camping with kids.

Sergei Bluman

Pretty park

Marc-Olivier Bergevin

Wonderful place

Blair Wolston

A nice easy drive from Burlington with clean facilities and incredible water pressure from the spigots. Our tent site was well maintained and mostly level. A typical VT State Park and we will probably go back next Summer.

Karen Lane

Beautiful setting with grassy spaces and palm trees between each paved site. Walk over a dune and you are on a protected beach; no 4wheelers running around. Abundance of birds and wildlife. Would be a 5 if it had sewer hook up.

James Lowther

Really amazing park. You go to Grand Isle and see all these little parks with just shell and dirt. We booked Grand Isle State Park a while back knowing we would be there in June and it would be packed. Grand Isle State Park is grass and asphalt that is very well done. It’s a beautiful park right next to the beach and has large sites. I’ve been going to Grand Isle for 25 years and actually had never been to the state park. This is the place to go. You have to make sure you have a spot here!

Jeff Baker

Great campground, secluded sites, friendly staff!

Kristina Love

Woods...

Tamara Michels

Beautiful vistas of Lake Champlain, lots to see in the area, clean sites and facilities.

Yani Chavez

Clean, friendly staff and beautiful setting! We love thecabins! !

Betty Barran

My first time in Grand Isle and we were swimming with dolphins! They swam past the jetties and close to us. My kids loved the hermit crabs and my husband caught a huge redfish!

Jonathan Wrisley

My home town. Great views and places to fish, backroads to ride the wheeler. Love it all.

Robert Anderson

My favorite place to camp when motorcycle touring in thus area. Perfectly located and great site privacy.

Noah King

Great park staff, clean and well kept facilities, beautiful views

Hosseinali Sahebekhtiari

This park was amazing. There are not much stuff to do but the view is so amazing. It is so bautiful. If you like nature and like to meditate in nature this is the place to be. Very calm and remote. It is very nice. I totally recommend this park. Very clean.

Ryan Robbins

Peaceful and family friendly even through the Tarpin Rodeo.

Bubba Nick

Golf cart can be rented and rode on beach. Day time use only though.

Steven B.

Can't wait to get back here!

Connolly K

Great state park off the beaten track. Water front campsites on the sand for tents, if that's your jam... or grassy green sites with paved driveways for less rustic accommodations. Well maintained and peaceful with friendly park employees!

Heather Bryan

Absolutely gorgeous everyone is friendly

Eugene Boyanton

I can't think of a reason why anyone would go to Grand Isle. You can't swim in the water you can't eat the fish out of the water. There's no restaurant what's that serve edible food. And all the hotels and motels try their best to rip you off. I would rather be broke down on the side of the road in the heat then spend a day on Grand Isle.

Sunshine Jenna

Loved it. Great camping spot. Totally awesome!

David Lachance

Very charming place. The Staff is very nice.

Valerie Silva

Not exactly the best place to go if you're wanting to just hang out in the water all day. Great for fishing, & a wonderful place to just walk down the beach. Saw all sorts of wildlife out here during the middle of a gorgeous day, including a ton of little rabbits! I absolutely enjoyed my time walking the beach here.

Mike A

Awesome

Tony Riley IV

Beautiful beaches, clean bathrooms/showers, and great campgrounds. Overall a 10/10 experience.

Jean Jackson

They would not honor our tribal cards. The beach was beautiful

Leslye Robinson

Drive all the way to the end of Louisiana 1 and there you are. The restroom and shower facilities for camping are very nice and the beach itself is clean and inviting. One of the great advantages is easy access to restaurants and stores.

Danielle S.

Clean and well maintained park, lots of different types of sites available-some gravel and private, some open and sunny, staff go around keeping it quiet at night which I appreciate

Tamara Searcy

Great place to camp

dominique chamberland

Beautiful lake Champlain is very accessible form here

Jeff Winkler

Great place for camping! Very remote and few shopping options so bring supplies. Very friendly staff! Great prices for lake side camping. No wifi except around office but it is free. Quiet and beautiful

Jamie Shaw

Rima Berry

Reasonably priced campsite

Wendy C

Beautiful state park. Well maintained. Excited to camp here!

William Hudspeth

It small but it had a Wore that one out pretty for over the water

John Stafford

My wife and I love this place.cant wait to go back

Les Wall

Love this park have been here 4 times and going back again this November. Very clean, beach is nice, would be perfect if it had sewer hook ups and you could see the beach from the campsite. But understand the dunes make a lot of protection.

Evelyn Daley

I loved it and my son enjoyed himself ..cant wait to come back..

Joyce Siegert

While there the park lost electricity due to blown transformer & no view of gulf from trailers. Also don't accept Texas folks state park memberships

Janet Allen

A long drive across islands and waterways brings you to the end of the world. Lots of fishing and hiking on the beach and dunes. Birds were amazing.

Ingham West

Cool park for its location, but nothing stood out as overly special or beautiful. Picnic tables on the beach were handy and the four story tall look out tower was worth exploring.

James Lamoureux

Excellent views of lake Champlain!

Joshua Rosen

This primarily a camp site on the banks of the lake.

Mary Jayne

Absolutely beautiful. Make sure to apply some bug spray!

Kathy Taylor

We stayed two nights with a Girl Scout troop from Milton. A great time was spent with family and friends.

Julie Martin

On our way back home to Manchester and needed a place to rent out. Park was clean, has sites that have cabins or lean-to.

Joseph G. Vallee

Interesting place. Saw a lot of birds and a dead Sea turtle. Strong south wind prevented any swimming or wading.

David Dardar

Great place to stay

Sharon Lea Hinz

It was a very windy day but we still enjoyed our time on the beach and the pier

Jennifer Erwin

My favorite State park to camp at.

Katherine Yoder

Gorgeous park, a camper's delight! The grounds were exceptional, facilities were clean, well kept and stocked. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating. Park Manager Ashley does an incredible job! Can't wait to go back!

Abby Howard

Patti Utz

Very nice At Park

Megan Ellender

It was clean and refreshing

Curtis Dalton

Fun and clean, great campground

Tom Loos

There is a nice inland trail you can walk, the beaches are nice and clean. Many fishing spots along the way. The view from the watchtower is also pretty nice. Plenty of wildlife to see. We saw mostly birds but also some rabbits.

Ronald Robinson

As Workers we understand it’s not just about a pay check but about image , having customers come there have a great experience and leave with good things to say about the park , taking pride in the park we represent!!!!!

1 Magnetoverse

A great facility. Very clean and well maintained.

Laurie bouyea-dumont

Wonderful State Park!

Erin Mier

Very peaceful

Cindy AZ

Great park but bring mosquito repellent. Very basic park but right on the water. Beautiful! Great bathrooms and showers.

William Eisner

End of summer camping at one of VTs most popular spots. Easy access to the Inland Sea and fantastic kayaking. Bike routes along the sleepy island roads past miniature castles... a magical part of the state.

David Hamel

Northern Vermonts Jewel

Sandy Todaro

Good bathrooms and showers. Beach is not as pretty as it used to be

Trevin Guidry

The beach was good

Candace Jones

It is beautiful and relaxing! I recommend it!

Carl W

Sunday day picnic and canoe trip with friends camping there.

Zag

Nice spot for shore or pier fishing, there are huge tuna fish right underneath, and a good location for camping and natural shore relaxing. Please note, there wer several grease and curd oil residue along the shore. If you are into canoeing, it is a not bad at all there, especially for beginners (of course under supervision of a professional instructor). Additionally, I would suggest anyone who is planning or want to visit there to bring all your equipments and tools, grab some food, drinks and ice before heading there.

Crystal DeMoura

Nice! This park is clean and good for camping. You can even camp on the beach in a tent.

Megan Besson

Very nice. Me and my family had such a great time here it's the perfect vibe & even though they had dead catfish, dead crabs and a couple dead birds, it was awesome!

Richard Lewis

Well kept. Enjoyed our stay here. Sites vary from open with sun to shaded in trees.

J H

Great location... BUT... 1. There are only 2 bathrooms, one at each end of the row of approx 40 sites.... if you plan on using the bathrooms/showers, be careful to when you pick your site... even the sites closest are still a bit of a "hike". Also, because of potential flooding, they are built on "stilts"... may be difficult for some to access even with the ramps as to me they looked pretty steep! 2. Dogs not allowed on beach.... such a stupid rule... humans make far more mess (saw lots of garbage on the beach) than dogs. Should provide doggy bags and proper garbage pails ...99% of dog owners are responsible...and many will pickup another dog's dodo if there are bags available!!!

C. L. Morris / h1d3ns33k

Beach was quiet until mid afternoon. Great fishing area. Beautiful pier.

Sara-Doug Anderson

Nice park. No beach access for the puppers. Beach was black sand and not very well kept. Advise you have a good AC on your rig. The only reason I will not give five stars is the beach issue. Our pets are our family where we go they go.

Slow Cooker

It's a big beautiful Campground with lots of space

Jonathan Rodriguez

We stayed at the beach camp sites. They let us check out the site before paying. The bathrooms/showers were clean and we were able to fish and the kids swam and played. It was an outstanding time. The park is well maintained with plenty of beach access for fishing and 2 peirs. They also have camper and improved camp sites located off the beach.

Joe Horton

Excellent campgrounds. All facilities are very clean and well maintained.

Jeff Behn

Lovely park right on the lake, lots of camping options from tent sites, to lean-tos to cabins. Quiet and scenic.

Scott Byrnes

Beautiful clean state campground. A variety of sites from tent to RVs (central dumping location) as well as cabins (120V + light) and 3 sided shelters, these have some of the best lake views. The coastline allows for a variety of water activities, but plan on sandals/water shoes at ALL times, quite sharp slate everywhere. Boat launch and "Dog beach", supposed to be leashed at all times throughout campground. Half hour to Burlington and 5 minutes to towns to South and north, 90 minutes to Montreal.

Nick C

Love it! Awesome park and campground!

Luke J

Truly amazing campground! 100%one of the best. I like to go down to the causeway from here and bike to Burlington ( there's a ferry in the middle bring cash) the beach here has some amazing scenery and pretty much every rock on the beach is flat and perfect for skipping on the calm lake water of Champlain.

Brett Plaisance

A must visit location.

inFAMOUS Second Son

Camped here it was fun, beach not so much. Walking on the beach I spotted many dead animals and this made me change my mind about going for a swim. All in all camp but don't trust the water.

Chris Gillham

Only in Vermont does a state park let you get off season practice for your wrist shot

Colin Shea

Great park, well spaced sites. Caution, some are very sunny.

Rev Smith

Awesome place! Been camping there since I was young

Thomas Higgins

This is a nice place to go and just let go of everything and relax. I would recommend this to almost everyone

will call

Truly a gem of a state park. Very knowledgeable and friendly cute staff at front gate.

Bradley Mccord

Beautiful Gulf Coast. Beautiful park. Came once for a day and had to come back for a weekend

Aloysius Wojocockowicz

We camp at alot of State Parks. This one is in my top 5. Clean bathrooms. Non VT residents $22 for prime sites. $1 dog fee. They sell ice and real firewood. Very quiet and dark at night.

Matt Riley

It's nice and scenic but they seem to be against you walking there unless you're a camper. Which I find amusing because it's a state park. Imagine going to Yellow Stone or the Grand Canyon and being told you can't come in unless you want to camp. Kind of ridiculous. Staff is nice though.

Tess Eastman

Really close to the oldest fossil reef. Very private and quiet.

Tim

Great place to camp for relatively cheap.

kevin lawrence

Clean and well kept. Quiet and plenty of room between sites. Good access to the lake. Bring your water shoes as it's rocky and has zebra mussels (the buggers.) Everyone was friendly and easy-going. Expensive firewood, on par with rest of VT State Campgrounds. We will go back again.

james gillum

Very nice park bath houses were full of mosquitoes so bring spray. Lots of rabbits running around everywhere.

Steve Zhang

Nice park with great view to the lake.

Tracy Gilbert

Awesome camping

Mark Walker

Wow. The mosquitos are everywhere and they are plentiful! Bring lots of deet or pray for wind. We came in November and a good number of the sites were flooded. Wi-fi is available but so slow it was useless. Free laundry!!

Rhonda Zappa Lewis

I have never been camping..it was nice! We stayed in a tent in #8 with electric and water...we went to the beach..Nice...the bathrooms and showers were clean and nice. We fished did catch anything..seen a lot of crawfish....this place is awesome

Nicholas Ceffalo

Nice campsites

Bruce Champion

Peaceful vacation spot

Karen Dodge

Haven't been here since there 70's... Beautiful

Sonya Kohut

One of the best-run campsites I've ever visited. Rules are strictly enforced but it cuts down on noise and partying. The campsites are immaculate and the fire rings are amazing for cooking. Other campers were friendly and respectful - no blaring stereos, just kids running around having the time of their lives. Recommended!

Lauren Bruce

We tent camped on the beach. The beach was beautiful, it was super clean and well-maintained, and the bathrooms were meticulously clean- which is impressive for a beach campground! My only complaints about the place relate more to the natural environment than the facilities. We stayed for four days, three nights, and as we are from VA and aren’t familiar with the area, were unprepared for the daily storms rolling in from the Gulf. The sand grains on the beach are so very fine that each time the wind blew, the sand case in through every screen in our tent. I woke up every morning covered in sand, and sand was in every crack of everything we packed. If tent camping here, I strongly recommend packing everything you have in plastic storage bins. Also keep in mind that it’s a bit of a hike down to the beach from the car, so try to pack lightly. Bring Deep Woods bug spray- the mosquitos were swarming worse than I’ve ever seen anywhere. They do seem to be aware of this issue, as a truck drove down the beach spraying each afternoon. Fire ants were also a problem- they ate holes in the bottom of our tent and got into the food supply. Again, plastic storage bins would ameliorate this situation. If traveling with kids, pack plenty of food- there’s nowhere to really eat on the island. Overall it was a nice place though.

Lake George Loyalist

Very clean campground. The staff is so polite and friendly. There is a nice place to watch sunrise and moonrise by the boat launch. Also a good place to swim the dogs, or yourself! The waterfront sites have partial or no views of lake due to lots of trees ( cedars and some huge old oak). If these were cut down the erosion would be tremendous. I found the beach to be very murky, but it was windy. And I do most of my swimming in mountain rivers. I do not like paying extra for the dogs as I camp alone as opposed to a family of 6. I feel this is a bit unfair. Coin showers.

Lorenzo Telleria

Water and beach was clean and nice!! I was able to swim about 100 yards parallel to the pier but at the same level of the rock levy and the dolphins were checking me out!! I could smell them!!! Later the bugs made us go away, but what an amazing experience!!

Lynette Mosley

A nice place to enjoy. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Even saw some dolphins beyond the jet ties. Would go back in a heartbeat .

Billy Bruce

The friendly rangers and personnel. The accommodations were clean and acceptable. Clean very very clean. Icing on the cake was I celebrated my 62nd birthday two days prior and was given an all-day pass for my wife and myself. Definitely would refer to family and friends. God bless and keep up the good work

Debbie Gros

The staff was so nice, welcoming and friendly. The road to the lagoon was flooded due to the heavy rains but our campsite, no. 2, was dry. The sites are pull thru, concrete, level. There's a picnic table and fire pit. Right now the breeze is blowing and it's so quiet we have our windows open. We went crabbing on side the street. Didn't catch much but had a great, relaxing afternoon. The campground has some beautiful palm trees but the sites are not woodsy by any means. The sites aren't extremely tight and are a comfortable distance apart. We're really enjoying our evening here and not looking forward to leaving tomorrow.

J Ann Foreman

The park really has nothing more than the towers and camping. The beach is no different than the public beach. It is at the end of the island and the birds can be found in abundance. I dont know what I was expecting, but was not impressed.

Valerie Rich

Beautiful drive here!

Roxanne Daniels

Great spot with an awesome view of the lake. Had a nice trail that led to a small beach. Staff was friendly.

Randy Wheeler

Been going since I was a kid very clean and well maintained.

Gunner Tuttle

I've camped at Vermont state parks my entire life and cannot describe the level of frustration I've had at this park. Just because we were a group of younger adults we were watched and scrutinized the entire weekend we stayed here. This included visits from the staff each night like clockwork 15 minutes before quiet hours even when we were making little to no noise. The first night they snuck up to our camp fire in pitch black with no flashlights and didn't announce themselves until they were right on top of us. We are all young Vermont professionals in various industries from commercial construction, business management and grade school teachers. It's truly a shame that because of this experience I, for one, will have a hard time caring to support our state park system. Also, the staff needs appropriate dog training because when they snuck up on us it scared or friends' dog into fight or flight mode and they thought it would be a good idea to continue approaching it and try to pet it while it was clearly agitated and scared. The chaos and frustration that we all had from these visits ended each day we had here on a disappointing note.

Judy Boyd

Could do better on in forcing there posted camping rules. Dogs not leashed, loud music after hours, drive by's by park attents but there windows are up or they have their ears plugged in, and have this attitude that is't not there problem if there is something in ? !

Gregory Bard

I did not expect it to be so nice. Great views from the observation tower, the long fishing pier, and lots of scenery. The drive from New Orleans took slightly less than two hours but was filled with many sights, and views of the water, plus some cute small towns. There were several food options about 1 mile from the park.

RouGarou

It's not really that big of a park, and at first thought it seems that you'd run out of places to explore fairly quickly. But it definitely has its own beauty. Besides, who doesn't enjoy hanging out in the Gulf of Mexico? Pelicans, porpoises, observation towers, amazing piers, a nice (short) trail, clean shower/rest rooms and fishing all combine for 4.5 stars. So I'll round up to 5. We caught it at the end of a very rainy few days, and some sites we're a bit swampy as a result. This is low land. The town is nice, has a couple grocery's and a few restaurants. The only blight is the oil refinery which isn't visible from the campground, but you may hear if not running a fan. I imagine this can be a bustling place in season, but my mid-Nov trip was very peaceful. Will come back for longer. Hope you enjoy.

Mike Shyla

Awsome camping experience

Matthew Parker

Great campgrounds.

Gaynell Michel

This is my happy place! We always park our RV at Bridgeside. Great fishing, crabbing, shrimping - a real sportsman's paradise! Not to mention swimming in the Gulf! Fun for the whole family!

Joseph Darby

Great getaway spot. Great Fishing.

Don Bennett

We stayed 4 nights at Cypress Lean-to. Enjoyed our stay immensely! Staff were polite and helpful. Ice and firewood are cheap. Bathrooms were clean, but could use an update. Shale Beach was OK for swimming if you have water shoes. The rocks are sharp. We'll be back! *vehicle is a 2007 Ural Retro Classic sidecar outfit towing a 2017 Aspen Classic camper with a king size bed!

thomas schlueter

Beautiful person Campground.

J Chetta

Great outdoors.

Shane Comings

Great sceanery and calming affects

Brice Schneider

Nice campground

Taewoo Kim

Small and opened camping site. No privacy. Large yard and lake was good. However the beach was consist of rocks without any sand. Lastly there is no electricity.

Kerry Batdorf

Nature Center closed for painting in middle of season. Playground fenced off limits in middle of season. Bathroom/showers filthy and in disrepair in middle of season July, 2019.

Shelley Gonzalez

All camping are out in direct sunlight all day long. The sites are also VERY close together.

Erin Mazur

Absolutely beautiful and quaint little state park, with lots of very private camp sites. Right on the lake too. Its a gem!

John Simpson

Clean and quit place to relax. Beautiful scenery, great fishing on the lake Champlain

Don Kennon

Interesting little park at the end of Grand Isle. Pier & camping area. I've never seen so many morning doves & other wildlife. The visit can be a nice break from the beach.

Jane Waterman and George Nash

Small and quiet. A great place to do a lot of nothing. Large expansive beach. Both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Fairly short, maybe a mile and a half walking path around the Lagoon that is not accessible during high tide. Free laundry with two washers two dryers and fairly good showers, no sewer hook up and no other amenities. If you're looking for a lot to do don't come here. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place..

Wayne Horning

Place is clean and not very expensive.

Gale Morong

There is no water or electric at the camp sites ... As hot as it was the week of the forth of July they would not allow us to run generators any longer that from 8 to 10 and 4 to 6 ... It was the most uncomfortable camping experience I have ever had

clark leininger

Clean, quiet, and lots of private campgrounds. Only 20$ for a tent site.

Jonathan Bailey

A wonderful find. RV site have water and electricity. Dump station on site. Great showers. Free laundry. Free wlfl. Spacious sites with grass and Palm trees between. Quiet! Good fishing from beach or pier. Nice little town. Surprisingly good grocery. Other-worldly drive down....

Oliver

Very friendly and helpful and nice sites, and for RV there is dumping station with hose!

Emili Sarver

Beautiful little park. Only $3 per person to enter. The only downside is how much garbage was on the beach, even though there are several trash cans around.

Jennifer Stone

We go every year and love it there, peaceful and quiet, the staff is great and the view at the water is wonderful. very clean and great sites

Sai rama9

This place is good for driving experience on the sea bridge to reach the island. We are 3 adults with 2 kids went for tour on DEC 25, 2018 visited this place. The state park members arranged 3 different views to see the beach. We enjoyed beach environment. This management need to take care about tourism by improved facilities. This place is just sea with no attractions. Our kids played In the white sand and sea tides. You have to buy the 3$ entry fee per person to go inside of the place to access the Beach. The address of the location is - 108 ADMIRAL CRAIK DR, GRAND ISLE LA 70358. The receptionist at desk is so kind and helped us lot to find the accommodation and guidance what to see. This is Good for one Time visit when you plan trip to NEW ORLEANS, LA

Pamila Bayless

This is a great place to stay because the staff is awesome they have the perfect southern hospitality u want when ur away from home for instance my friend and I got locked out of the campground because we stayed out to late (1am) and we had to call them they were so nice even though we clearly woke them up they step by step helped us get to our campsite we were not drunk just tired lol the tent sites we stayed in were directly on the beach

James Savana

Beautiful setting, sites well designed, friendly and helpful staff. Kayaked the lake under clear sky and light wind for a reasonable rate.

MikeandNorma Haddad

Fun camping and great activities for entertainment during out stay

Kelly crowe

Great place, I would give it a 5 star but mosquitoes caught us by surprise.

Robert Sparks

Grand Isle State Park makes for an excellent home base for fishing the bay and the marshes along highway one. They have rv camping spots with running water and electricity as well as primitive camping on the beach. Ammenities include air conditioned bathrooms, showers with hot water, laundry rooms, and sinks for cleaning up your camp dishes. The campgrounds are kept clean but they aren't very well lit, so take a flashlight for walking to the bathrooms or the beach at night.

Shirlee Marr

Absolutely beautiful. A must see for all guests in Louisiana.

O B

Two New Yorlers visiting Vermont for the first time. Beautiful. Truly magnificent views. Camp Ground was very well kept and clean. Beautiful lean to camp site on the water. close to great activities. only down side was quiet hours at 10 pm MEANS go to bed at 10pm

Nice clean park with all pull through sites, except for the walk in primitive sites on the beach. No sewage hook up and no store. No dog beach. Workers drive around constantly in a loud ATV. Mosquitoes are the worst I have ever seen.

Michael Verrill

Beautiful clean and everything a real campground should be!

Khambo Khid

Cozy, quiet and a beautiful view of the lake!!

Joe Shmoe

The drive out to the park seems long but it is very scenic. Park is beautiful and peaceful. Great place to take a nap in the sun and listen to the waves.

Ethan Nicholson

Lovely park

Michelle Santiny

Air conditioned restrooms and showers (awesome after a day on the beach). Camp ground is beautiful. Fishing pier is the best!

Lori Jackson

Rustic beautiful views of Lake Champlain

Richard Laws

This place is really nice. The grounds and bathrooms are impeccably clean. Definitely worth the money.

Josué Plante

Nice campground, perfect for your family with Burlington and all the convenience at 20 minutes. Don't forget to try the cyclable road that leads to Burlington through the islands.

Kathryn Baxter

Both the beach and the bathrooms were spotless on my visit. I know that has been a complaint but not for me. Could be because it is the end of summer.

dorothy jarry

absolutely a wonderful park. Get spaces on the end for more room, some spaces are tight and dogs are required a 6 ft lead at all times, not allowed on beach, but allowed on piers and nature trails. Laundry and bathhouse a clean and very nice. Worth the trip!!!

Lynette Verdin

Clean beach, beautiful gulf view.

Roger Simmons

Like all VT state parks it offers excellent value. Lots of campsite choice. I would stay here again

Boogie Bomb

Had a great time! The view is beautiful! We will go back again soon.

steve mcadams

No water or electric. Very nice sites with moderate privacy. Passable bathrooms, very clean. Gorgeous lake to swim in!

Jason Normandeau

Just visited with my family and my 2 brothers families and we had an amazing time. Very clean facilities and the leantos were great! This was our third time here and we’re definitely coming back!

stacie thibodeaux

As usual, great beach camping trip. easy check-in, friendly staff. clean facilities! Will be back next year!

JG DeBiasio

Only open to campers and we wanted to do a day visit.

Crystal Goodman

Very nice.. Will definitely stay again !!!

Nathan Alan

Beautiful beach. Bathrooms , lookout tower

Elijah Fanelli

Stayed in a lean-to with great views of the lake and space for a few hammocks. The staff was laid back and helpful. There was live music one night of our stay which was a nice bonus!

Kris Carey

Perfect, beautiful and clean.

Veronica Jones

Lovely location but quite crowded and showers were not clean even though you have to pay extra for them. We did go on a busy August weekend so we were expecting crowds and such. Enjoyable beach and nice humans.

J P

Beautiful

Paul Chang

The drive from New Orleans took about 2.5 hours along U.S. 90 and Louisiana State Route 1. In addition to gas for the rental car, it cost us $3.75 to pay the toll to cross the bridge to Grand Isle, and $3.00 per person to enter the state park. Well worth the drive and cost, the scenery was magnificent, and the park personnel were super friendly.

E.

Large camping sites. Very nice place.

Vitally Soshnin

2 hours trip from N.O. wasting time. Dirty beach, muddy brown water and plus you have to pay for the park and bridge tolls.

Jonah Moos

Great campsite!!

Ted Boudreaux

Grand isle. End of the road. Park good for a few nights

Jason Kerson

Just stayed a night. Found it very clean, well layed out. Cabin was very cozy. Bathrooms were clean.

David Allen

Nice little beach park. There is a good nature trail, a tower to view the beach and two nice facilities, one with showers. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Camper hookups available. Had a great time on a winter's morning shooting video and exploring.

Sean Flanagan

Awesome!!

Lisa Ruoff

Great dog walking in the winter!

Justin Finley

The base is great. Very clean. However the amount of rules that they have and regulations for this beach makes it where you're not really able to do much here except for pretty much just swimming. It is beautiful however so four out of five stars

Timothy Olver

I love in Grand Isle but would pick this State Park over many others. Many many sites with great space and space between. The different loops have have different zones (lakeside, field, wooded, etc.) So there's sites for all types of campers. Great rest rooms to, a key mention for state parks.

Ingrid Krausbar

Great place to camp. If you can, get one of the lean-tos along the shore. They are quite a bit more secluded - you can still see your neighbours on either side through the trees but each site is far enough apart that you don't hear too much, especially over the waves from the lake!

Caitlin Groh

Hidden gem! I’ve been visiting New Orleans for years and never thought to venture beyond the city limits. Took less than 2.5 hours to reach the beach! In early June, the water was warm and refreshing. Plenty of space along the beach to not be on top of others, even on a scorching busy weekend!

James Lankford

Our short visit here was very nice, not overly crowded at all. There's not a lot to do here except enjoy the beach and there's not really much shopping available either. Many folks here had their own pull-behind carts for taking their stuff to the beach with them which is probably a good quarter-mile walk from where you park.

Kierstin Kemmerer

Beautiful park and so well maintained! Gorgeous views right on the lake! The manager is wonderful!

John Bugden

Pretty average state campground. Fairly expensive, have to book a minimum of 2 nights. I prefer more primitive and private camping but this is really the only place in many miles where you can camp so I've been here a couple of times.

Avi Mistriel

Great staff beautiful views great cabin cabin clean facilities ice coffee fire wood canoes all for sale or rent showers coin operated playground boat launch

Alan Semon

One of the best camping grounds I've ever been to! The well-separated, keyhole-shaped sites give each site the feeling that it's just you there. It was very quiet when we were there, a bit off-season as it were, and the nighttime skies were simply incredible! All of the the facilities were very clean and well maintained. Great place to spend some time, close enough to Burlington so that finding a dinner out or to resupply your stores is only a short drive.

Icesolated Wolf

Been going here all me life!! Whats up with the mosquitos???

Tst Mkr

This is a great place to go for a private beach excursion. I will start with the positives: very private, options for amenities, inexpensive, not far from New Orleans, and you can camp right on the beach and have your own camp fire. I gave this 4 stars, which is not the fault of Grand Isle, but the fact they are a victim of circumstance, because I did find multiple tar balls on the beach. This of course is from the BP oil spill a few years ago not too far off this stretch of gulf coast. Lots of history to learn and little spots to explore, worth an overnight camp trip from Nola, just don't plan on going in the dirty water that much.

Alexander Riccio

Beautiful park with trails and water and Beach for everyone!

Larry Miles

Nice place. Fun time for all.

Nancy Desoto

Really enjoyed my stay at this park. It would be nice to have sewer hook up at the camp site. The camp host (Rhonda) was very nice and cared about the campground and it's appearance. She kept the grounds cleaned.

Amanda Powers-campbell

Great place to camp

Steve Miceli

Very good campground. Great birding area.

Yves M

Can be noisy during Canadian holidays. This state park is not far from Canada and it fills up with tourist and very loud teenagers

John Bailey

Grand Isle State Park was a beautiful and very clean Park to take your children and also it was very peaceful and quiet the people there are very considerate of everything that you need and are there to help you when you need them. Be ready for a long drive to get there. The park is all the way down on the coast of Louisiana at the end of Highway 1. You will enjoy yourself walking the beach and playing in the surf also there is plenty of fishing and crabbing in the Gulf of Mexico. The price is reasonable at $30 a night or your stay there is plenty of water hookups for RVs and plenty of room for primitive camping or tent camping. There are bathhouses to take a shower up and down the beach and sewage dump for the RVs.A short drive to town gives different places you can eat and shop all along the island.Enjoy yourself this is a wonderful place to go visit.

Tammie Crawford

Prior to entering, it would have been helpful to know that you couldn't swim in most areas due to high levels of bacteria. So why would we have to pay? The bathroom area was nice

Myint Htoo Aung

It’s nice park to go around.

Mike Mccarthy

One of the best State Parks we've stayed at. Nice separation between campers Beautiful beaches!

Chad Willingham

Nice place to visit with beach access and clean bathouses. Very nice campground with full hook-ups and a dump station.

Bradford F.Pirkey

One of the best!

Jacob Dixon

What a beautiful place. Very clean and quiet.

Robert Caldwell

Very cool place first time to see the ocean

Acid Boom

Clean and the staff is very friendly... ice and wood available for purchase on site reasonably priced. Bring water shoes as the beach is not sandy

Sherry Green

It takes a while to get to Grand Isle, but for a small fee, you can go to the beach and have fun. The sand isn't sugary white like Florida, but it's still the beach!

Cat Thompson

Very peaceful beach. Was here for a q50 race and head a wonderful time!

Asher Touriel

Relaxing place

Kerlyne Cummings

The Grand Isle state park is perfect location to go for a nice walk and so relax

Amy Rodjenski

Great site, rocky beach, bring water shoes, wonderful nature center host...love it here!

Terri Caye

Love this park

Ryan & Chas

This was our very first RV trip. Not many things could have been better. The beach was nice, water was warm, and dolphins jumping every day. Only one family arrived late (10pm) and made quite a lot of noise as they were setting up. You will never completely get away from them. PROS: Dump station, fishing pier, close to beach, wash rooms, perfect distance from town, room for 30 & 40 foot campers, outdoor dish sink, good fishing, good for kids. CONS: Mosquitoes, dump station.

Jennifer Trombly

One of my favorite places to camp. Clean restrooms. Nice staff. Very quiet during the weekends but can be pretty loud/busy on weekends.

Christian Scheuermann

Sunday gumbo and fried chicken is our favorite. Was sad a few weeks ago when it was closed on Sunday. I hope they are opening back up.

Hugues Lavergne

Nice wooden park close to the beach

Jonathan Haraden

Amazing staff and beautiful campground

Kenneth Lane

No sewer and $30.00 per night also flooded sites so beware. Interesting bird life

Patrick Fallon

Nice spots. Spacious but. Not much view of the lake unless you are in a lean to spot. Showers are clean but coin op. No dish washing stations. Good deal on camp wood at the park.

Gowri Nataraj

We camped here for 2 nights and all i can say is it was a surreal experience. We camped just in front of the ocean and we had great views. The sunrise was awesome .

Steve Locke

Be prepared, there is no shade at the beach, there are no water fountains. Bring your drinking water, and contact your lieutenant governor.

Sam Wagner

Ben Bates

pretty cool place but the beach is grimy and dirty

Greg Wilder

Beautiful. Perfect. A great reason to visit the Burlington area.

Russell Sloan

Great. Will go back again

Nik Holm

4 stars because it can't be used as a day park

Rebecca Batts

Beautiful park on the Ocean with a beach the walking trail was only thing I would say needs improvement because we wanted to the bridge but right before the bridge it was under water up to our knees. But trail was really neat with crab thousand of them running in front if us

Allie Adams

Very nice place, beautiful views and tons of crabs

Nancy Kaiser

Very clean kids playground, bathrooms, laundry and grounds. Beautiful sunrise & sunsets Nice and friendly staff too!

Kathy Gibbs

Love it! Very organized...great staff

Ricki Frinzi

The park is large, beautiful, and very well kept. Residents there are generally all happy, at least those that I spoke to, and there are campsites adequate enough for a single tent, or for an RV. Staff is very nice, there is plenty for kids and adults alike to do, and the beach is beautiful and great for skipping rocks!

John Gester

Wonderful!

MrGauberte

A beautiful park

Alexandre Bertrand

Nice location on Grand Isle, the view from The lean-to are awesome Herés the view from FIR The shower are clean yet bring out your quarter as they aren’t free. The park is a nice place to relax From a guy that camp almost every summer weekend, îm glad i tried this one

Helen CapistranoEagleton

If you like being surrounded by water and fish every day. Then it is a good place to visit.

Garry Sager

Beautiful and very clean

James Erickson

Great park with friendly and helpful staff! The amenities are very nice and cleaned daily. Love the free laundry! They also have nice bathhouses with decent to good water pressure. For the fishermen (like myself) they have a good fish cleaning station, good fishing from the big pier, good beach fishing, and lots of nearby places to fish!

David Sharrard

This was our second visit here. Gorgeous. The only complaint is that there are no full hookups for RVs.

Natasha & Jared Collins

I love this place it is great

Cynthialynn Jones

Beautiful place, very tranquil, peaceful, and clean.

Stephanie Courville

Family tradition. Clean facility. Washateria could be bigger. Safe for my roaming, adventurous kids. Very fair pricing. Nice staff.

Holly Devine

Beaches aren't great. And you have to pay for showers!

Jouer Pourjouerok

(Translated by Google) Very nice site. The facilities are clean. We may have fallen badly, but people were talking loudly until midnight and (a lot) fireworks between 8pm and 10.30pm. (Original) Très joli site. Les installations sont propres. Nous sommes peut-être mal tombé, mais les gens parlaient fort jusqu'à minuit et des (beaucoup) feux d'artifices entre 20h00 et 22h30.

Brinkley Schmidt

Amazing campground and super friendly staff. The woman who was working this weekend (June 1st) was so nice and helpful. Great access to the lake, firewood for sale, coffee at the check in hut and a great assortment of camp sites.

Paula Deano

Great fishing, lots of crabs, clean bath houses. Nice laundry.

james bruno

The fishing is great

Renee Willard

Love the staff, great lean to, good lake view, nice area to walk around and super quiet

Dive Expression

Beautiful State Park, very clean amenities and very quiet, great family place or just to get away for a couple days. I highly recommend, we have already booked for the 2019 season

MAD.P

A kind and friendly staff make for a clean and quiet park. Great views from our leanto of the Green Mountains and Lake Champlain. Situated in one of the best places for cycleing.

Kim Pigeon

Absolutely loved it here!

Andrea Rose

The staff were very nice, and fire wood is available by the arm load from the front desk. Unfortunately, they have exactly one shower for about 40 campsites and it's coin operated. And that shower is in the same small room as the three toilets. Also, forget about washing your hands thoroughly because you have to hold the faucet on with one hand while you rinse the other. I understand water conservation but I've been to State Parks where they at least have a faucet that stays on for a couple seconds after you push the button. There is a bathhouse (on the "less desirable" and less populated side of the campground) with about four private showers so I drove over there when I wanted to take a shower without waiting in line for 45 mins.

Tim Hooker

We love this park. Easy in and out for RVs. Friendly staff. Super clean bathrooms and shower areas.

SiHyun Uhm

Pretty!

William Cox

Great park

Heather White

Our very favorite place. The gulf is beautiful here.

Larry Henry

When we visited GI, there was a health alert for the water. The water was warm and the beach shallow. The sand crabs and hermit crabs were abundant that day. It is beautiful and a great place to relax.

Don Vinson

I just wasn't impressed about anything. Fishing off of the main pier was like fishing off of a 5 story building casting into 4 feet of water. If you were to catch something, you would probably lose it trying to reel it that high out of the water. But the lady was very polite at the entrance and let me in free since I was retired military.

Janet Hodges

Campsites were nicely sized and had just the right amount of privacy for us. We very much enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to others.

Jonathan Cantu

Me and Dylan is having a good time catching fish playing in the water seeing dolphins and eating fry fish and shrimp on the back of our porch

Daro

Beautifful and relaxing place

Cheryl Mahler

Clean beach, clean restrooms just not air conditioned
