REVIEWS OF Field Station: Dinosaurs IN Kansas

Natalie Schultz

My 4 year old is absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs. We drove 3 hours to go here, he absolutely loved it! We will definitely be back. We had so much fun. I highly recommend Field station.

Rachel Harper

This was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon! My 5 year old loved it and the adults enjoyed it as well. The employees were all very enthusiastic, polite, and knowledgeable. There are plenty of activities in addition to just seeing the Dinosaurs, so it keeps little ones with short attention spans entertained.

Kayla Tackett

Ur was awesome!! The dinosaurs moved and made noises, the staff were mostly well informed, friendly, and attentive!! It was a great experience, I would go again and I do recommend that others go and check it out themselves!!

Amanda Byrd

We visited here while in town to visit family. I was hesitant to take my older kids (9,11,13,14) because tickets were a little pricey and I really didn’t know how interested that they would be in the dinosaurs. It seemed like it would be directed towards a younger crowd. However, they had fun playing mini golf (which was included) and we all had a GREAT time at the Kansas climb, which was very much for older kids/adults. We picked up a scavenger hunt booklet at the concession stand and the kids/teens enjoyed finding all of the answers. They all even jumped in the bouncy house which had a 6’4” height limit :) Overall, it far exceeded my expectations and was a great place to visit for the day even for older kids!

April Shields

This was such a great place to bring the kids! Fairly small environment with lots of great activities for all ages to participate in.

hellsingdotorg

Always have alot of fun. Our son is a dino nut and he just looses his mind there. A little on the pricey side but worth it.

M Ricke

Total rip off. Looks like they are putting money in there pockets because all the trees and decor is died. Never going back Cost way too much.

Alex G

Lots of fun! Lots to do and can be enjoyed by anybody of any age

Jolene Wiant

Overall I enjoyed this park. They are a bit pricey for just an adult as the shows are clearly targeted for small children. That being said, the dinosaurs were cool and the displays had interesting, current information. I am glad that I went but not sure I'd go back unless i had a 4 or 5 year old child to bring. They don't have any shade so summer isn't the best time to visit.

Kyle0073able

Crazy expensive, 70 dollars for me and my 2 boys, and that didn't even include the golf. The Kansas climb is a total waste. A height requirement of a 72 inch reach is nuts but my oldest actually met the requirement and the staff still wouldn't allow him to do the upper climb, when I asked why the response I got was "Uh, I just do waivers." So I asked for a refund, they said no, and said my boys could run the ground course which takes 30 seconds to complete. The rest of the park isn't much better, we were very hard pressed trying to justify spending at least two hours there. A very disappointing and expensive experience. Find something else to do, trust me.

Jane Dough

Never actually been in, but will someday. They were closed when i drove by, but even driving by my 1.5 year old was completely astonished and loved it. I have heard it is expensive and once you are in everything costs extra, but i will definitely check it out soon. The free way is great too. Kinda funny it is right by a hospital and the brontosaurus head moves. Can you imagine coming to and seeing that outside the window? Haha

Joshua Talkington

I recommend going when it is warmer and not rainy. But both my kids had a great time. It is well worth going to.

Sherry Grote

Really great place! From the road it doesn't look like much! But guarantee your kids will have so much fun!

Becky Rankin

Great afternoon!

Lynn Mai

Staff was great and interactive. Definitely an awesome and unique experience!

Jaime Johnston

We purchased a family pass and our young son loves this park! We just visited for the first time this season and are so impressed by the additional features that come with admission price! In fact, we decided to host my son’s 4th bday party there and it was a BLAST! They took care of our needs and made our son feel like a super star Dino hunter! The new Paleo Playground with dinosaur bouncy house was especially a hit!

Tim Kleeman

Great little park. We went because my two year old loves dinosaurs, he loved everything about the park. It is priced reasonably for what you get, I had a great time.

AL Hesse

Grandkids from 2 to 7 enjoyed the park. Nicely laid out.... beware of the grandparent trap at the end (gift shop).

Shelia Nelson

The price of admission was not worth seeing the park. They didn't have the dinosaur maze, the gift shop should have had snacks and waters for sell. The experience for my dinosaur loving grandson was awful. The price to dig a dinosaur out was ridiculous as was the golf. There were no signs saying you had to be a certain height to do the dome ropes. All around it just wasn't worth it.

Bruce Rowley

Really fun! Plan to spend 2-3 hours to see all the dinosaurs and attend all the shows. We also tried the challenge dome ropes course and it was totally worth it. We learned a lot during our visit and we'll definitely be back!

Dale Fox

This was our first visit to the park, we really loved the dinosaurs, the seasonal lights, and the staff.

Ronald Wilcox

Fun for the kids and educational too.

Jerry C.

Very interesting. Went on 3rd grade field trip, so the experience was very rushed. Would recommend though!

Eugenia Moffitt

I can see why the rumor with everyone I talk to is that this park is expensive. From an engineering and robotics perspective, it's not expensive because these are truly life-sized robots of amazing quality. Each robotic dinosaur is $$$ and to have so many! I know because I saw the first of it's kind 20 years ago in a secret lab at Spar Aerospace. This park and its dinosaurs are really intended for dinosaur geeks; tweens and up who want to meet their fossilized idols in as real-life as possible. For the young kids (2 to 9), there's the sand-digging pit which you can find at almost all science museums across the country, the paleontology lab and some shows which include larger-than-life T-Rex Feeding Frenzy. The Dome which houses the rope courses for different skill-level of all ages, as well as the putt-putt golf are located outside the park, so you can do those activities without park admissions. For the parents who chaperoned, paid for everyone (including season passes) and is holding everybody's stuff, there's the 20' shipping container with one window and a lot of A/C for you to sit in. While you sit in there with 3 other fold-up chairs and nothing else, you can ponder why you had kids. P.S. Parents would like to have more dignity in the "VIP Lounge." Some improvement suggestions: - Lots of playgrounds - more interaction - more selection in giftshop

Km Porter

Grand kids loved it. Well put together displays and activities.

Shannababigirl@hotmail.com Frank

Glad we went during a special. Not worth the money!

Lynne Ahlgren

I love dinosaurs, I'm an adult and I had fun. The pteronodon was off display; the other dinos were in good condition. Even the shows were fun- they are definitely targeted at kids. Admission price is high but included mini golf and climbing. Reserve your climbing time right when you buy your tickets otherwise there will be a long wait.

Michelle Rickens

Went with my granddaughter's class on a field trip. I can't see paying the prices they want for admission or refreshments. We got discount tickets & took our lunch & drinks. The interactive shows & the exhibits were really good.

brian h Eardley

Nice family fun place with shows for kids cheap snacks and lots of picture opputunities , no resturants or rides

Ken Murray

Fun for all ages.

c smith

Good family fun

Donald Cross

Looking for the day when ever they get the shade trees all grown up. It was hot but together the staff are all extremely friendly

NOOTHER 69

Was not impressed at all. Entry fee way too high for what you get. Will not be going back. Will not recommend.

Todd Burris

Lots of animatronic dinosaurs and things to do for the kids.

Phyllis Adelhardt

The dinosaurs were neat but the price was to high to just walk around and look at dinosaurs. We had to pay 10 dollars a piece to find a fossil and poop. The girl that was helping with the fossil hunt was rude when I tried to help my two year old grandson. If you wanted to play Miniature golf you had to pay more money.

Stephen Mccolpin

Waste of money.... The best part is you really don't have to spend money if you don't want to. Just drive up or down rock road and you can see two all day every day! Stop and take a picture and you have seen some dinosaurs.

Kevin

Wasn't bad we thought there would have been more to it we drove 3 hours for it. General admission was not bad but everything else is a little pricey.

Chad Ball

Super lame and way over priced a total waste of time they should have paid me

Angel Davis

This was a fun place! Lots of dinosaurs to see and interesting things to learn, even if you aren't into dinosaurs! Plenty of things for the whole family. Uncover bones in a sand pit, create a dinosaur work of art, explore a raptor maze. The live shows are entertaining and educational. Loved the T-rex feeding frenzy show!! Plan to spend a day because it also includes 18 holes of mini golf and the courses were fun. The kids get a chance to earn stamps in a book for activities and get a special sticker. Admission is a bit costly but it covers lots of things to do. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. We weren't able to try to climbing dome but it looked like fun!

craig roberts

Can’t say enough good things about this place. I think the price is more than fair. It coast my son and I a little over $30 but you get what you pay for. Life size roaring and moving Dino robots is just the beginning. They also have very talented singers performing live educational shows through out the day that include realistic Dino puppets, a mini golf course and an inflatable t-Rex bouncy castle. I was impressed last year when it first opened and they continue to add and improve the Park even though I’m sure they know they could still make money Off of their customers. It’s obvious they strive to improve an already very Impressive fun experience. 5 stars!

William Blair

Really fun park, you'll probably only spend about one to two hours at the park if you only visit the dinosaurs. If you get the day pass, you can also enjoy the amazing climbing center and the putt putt golf course. Definitely worth a trip!

Tracy Huber

My sister and I took my 12 yr old son and 9 yr old nephew and they were bored. We didn't stay very long. The idea if staying all day and having to pay extra for stuff, especially after paying almost $70 to get in, wasn't happening. I would recommend it more for younger children. Shade would be nice also

Jerad Wilson

If you haven't been here you need to go. Very educational with lots of stuff for the kids. I did especially like how they built up the surroundings to provide more of a secluded park. I also liked the performers and thought they did a wonderful job. Job well done!

Erin Laird

Plan your kids stamp book schedule as soon as you arrive. Be advised the concession stand is quite expensive for the quality. I believe you can take in your own food and drinks though!! Workers are super friendly and helpful, they will answer any questions!

Vincent Gibbbons

We went in the evening for the discounted entrance of $10. It is in its first year and needs some improvements. There was one mister in the entire park and thermos with lukewarm water. It waa hot and the main event wasn't until 7:45. That made the day with it but there needs to be places to cool down and refreshments inside the park is lacking. I probably would have given it four stars if we would have waited until 7:00 to go. It was much cooler temperature after the show and the shadows on the dinosaurs made then more lifelike.

Laura De La Serna

Paid 60+ and most fun activities i had to pay extra. Not worth what i paid.

Christine Munoz

Unorganized, we couldn't do the Kansas climb because of the disorganization. We paid to walk around and look at dinosaurs with moving tails... that would be okay for a 20 minute activity... but we drove 1.5 hrs to get there...

Brad Whitaker

Very cool. If you have a child that's crazy about dinosaurs this is your place. Take the day and enjoy the little ones as they enjoy the park.

Mandi Ostein

The dinosaurs are kind of neat but the price is not. This is not the first time we have been to a dinosaur encounter type place but it was the smallest and the most expensive for what we got. I really wanted to love the place. My boys enjoyed it but we wont be back. The staff was very nice and I feel like they deserved 5 stars but overall it really wasnt worth it. And definitely not worth a membership.

Becky Sunshine

Not worth the money.

Marcia Miller

Appropriate for younger children, but very over priced. Has potential to become a great attraction, but needs a lot of improvements. Would recommend going in the fall when cooler. Called in advance to confirm wheelchair accessibility and was told it was and the paths were all packed gravel and easy to maneuver. The recent rains had created deep ruts and gullies on the paths. Some were very steep. Got the wheelchair stuck multiple times and nearly tipped over several times. My grandson was disappointed the maze was too narrow for his wheelchair. The kids received a stamp passport for shows, games and activities. We were there over 2 hours and only found one place to get a stamp. It was very hot and only found one water fountain. Website said there were misting stations and we only found one small one. Couldn't use the climbing area. The website had information listing minimum heights, but did not state an adult needed to climb with each child 48"-63". Also, didn't realize we needed to reserve a time in advance. We were going to play golf, but by the time we were finished, it was too hot and everyone was exhausted and frustrated. Would be nice if the tickets allowed you to come back for golf a different day. Overall, very disappointed.

Missyann Walston

Great place. Did the dome plus mini golf. Worth it. We will go again.

Jon

This park is mostly boring and not worth the price... ADA accessibility is not good so reconsider if you are in a wheelchair. However if you want to support this startup then give them your money and consider it a donation rather than an equal exchange.

Brandon O

The kids love dinosaurs. It's outdoors so bring the sunscreen and water!

Brandon Tammany

Great addition for Derby!! Cant wait to see what upcoming additions they will have! After finding out no day pass is needed for mini golf I will be mini golfing ASAP!!!!

Margaretta Washington

Nice place when its not real hot had a good yime

Belinda Werth

Took my nieces today (5 & 7), who love dinosaurs! About 50 yards into the park they were bored and ready to leave. The dinosaurs and info boards are great. The staff was great. The only thing the girls really liked was being able to dig in the sandbox for Dino bones because kids like to touch things! I’m glad we went but won’t go back

Cassandra Hilker

We went today. There were no water sprayers working to help cool us off. It is over priced for what you get. You just walk around and look at the dinosaurs which is neat but that is all. They need to make the golf and other extras part of your admission. It is not worth the 16. 50 per adult or 13.00 for kids. Even their field trip price is ten, still too much. They need to let people bring in their own water bottles as well. We will not go back.

Lauren Ostry

Really cool, the whole family had a good time. My only complaint is that there was no shade, so it would be best to go on a cooler day.

sachin argade

Nice place for young kids....it is still developing....I guess then it will be more fun.

Becky Greenlee

MINI-GOLF: first experience was great! Wonderful time! Came back next week bringing 3 more people. Course was littered with brush and twigs. Needed swept and kept up. Several time we had to reteive our ball when it would get stuck on debris. Water fountains and features were not on. This was disappointing! The atmosphere was not at all like the first time. I know the worker knew as said she just got done playing a round because she was bored and we found her badge on the course. Very disappointed and a bit embarrased that I had talked up the park. Please keep this place looking nice...it really could be beautiful if just taken care off. Thanks, just trying to help.

Pascal Van Schijndel

The grand kids loved ir

Richard Warren

There's a lot of Staff interaction with the kids or paleontologist. Lots of different programs that have crowd participation. Staff does a great job interacting with the crowd. Each dinosaur on display has its own informational board with name, where it was discovered, and some other fun facts. Some of the extra stuff costs like the lab, the climb, and the golf. Drinks are reasonably priced.

FourthRO

Loads of moving growling dinosaurs. Alot of brush and high grass so take your allergy pills. Fun interactive activities for the kids. Employees are very friendly and quite enthusiastic and entertaining. Will definitely go again!

Veronica Hund de Garza

I thought there would be more activities in this park. I recommend you go in the evening when the tickets are cheaper, it's not as crowded, and you won't get heatstroke from the lack of shade. (Also have dinner beforehand, because there's not much food selection.) If you don't get to see everything before the park closes, you can buy even cheaper tickets to go back another day.

Sarah Nelson

So neat!!! Some of the dinosaurs were already broken which was a bummer and not a lot of shade once you're away from the entrance. Still though it was very interesting to see and lots of learning. Very kid friendly.

don mallery

Great experience! Charity at the photo booth is the best!!!

Lee Jones

Great place for the little ones but I don't think it's worth the price of admission. To be fair though, I don't think the park is finished. I might go back.

Erin

The robotic Dino’s are neat to look at, but I don’t think it was worth the money. My husband and I took our 5 year old son and he was hot the whole time no shade and no misters were going and the water coolers they had stationed around the park had warm water in them. After walking through the park (15 mins) he was ready to go. We stayed for two shows but they were more for 2/3 year olds. It was a waste of 60 bucks. They have other things to do like golf but their prices are more than green fees at a real golf course! I would say it might be worth going if the dome and golf were included and your kids just really really love Dino’s!

John Anderson

My older brother and I went, would have been alot more fun with kids along, but still enjoyed ourselves and watching the field guides interact with kids....

Heather Vitteri

For the hype this park had before it opened, it certainly did not live up to expectations. VERY high admissions prices. Dinosaurs that blink, open their eyes, and stand still... Really? And no, we didn't spend 10$ a kid so they could hammer out fossils out of a chunk of plaster. (or did we bother with the rest of the add-ons after we paid admission). I asked going into the park, "Where can pregnant mothers and small children cool off in the heat?" Nowhere. We took refuge in the bathrooms to escape the heat, as they were the only air conditioned space in the park (besides the small gift shop). Kids were SO bored. The show was neat, and had dedicated staff, but singing hokey songs about a t-rex was more juvenile than my kids (aged 2 through 9) could stomach. Entire park was covered in weeds, which gave it some low-class ambiance. All the buildings were shipping containers. Probably the same containers the Chinese used to ship the whole thing over to begin with. For the money, just go to the water park down the street. Or better, the Sedgwick County Zoo. See a wide variety of animals, plenty of places to cool off, (including shade and spray spots). You can bring your own food, find a place to sit and eat, and enjoy MORE than a days entertainment.

Big Bird

Scam. A park with dinosaur figures with puppeted jaws. Spent as much to build as the bramd new library, but most of the 5million to build the "dino" park seems to have gone n2 someones pocket. Very cheesy, and the staff coupd care less about u if not accompanied by children. Cheesy, unrealistic, and wrong decor and parking for Honda cars only provided. Most reviews stem from an unopened park. Every feature is paid for separately. No real information on donosaurs science or geology, so NOT a learning experience. Basically a jungle gym with dinosaur statues that costs 16$ to 56$ a day. Golf offeres no decor and a severe lack of dinosaurs. Anatomically incorrect dinos. If you want to go to this park google dinosaur and hit images and you have already experienced far more than this joke has to offer and it was free for u. Will not be back. Will not suggest to anyone. Nothing provided on validity or education in the park either. Only reason to go os if u have to pay 50$ a person to shut a kid up from "can we go there" over and over and over again. Would rate 0 and report if i could.

Andrea Juancito

Kids loved it. Next time we will stay longer.

IM Burgin

At $35 dollars to get in I would think that would cover everything thing inside including the dome and fossil area. I would also think that all dinosaurs should be in working order, the T Tex and a few others were not. All the flying dinosaurs need to be redone from the mounting to the design. One raptor was missing had a sign just not there? Sound systems and effects need some work. The completely orange dinosaur never seen anything like, does is seem realistic that there would be a bright orange dinosaur, like having a sign that says come eat me. Even with all this I have talked this park has great potential just need the right person to take it to the next level. Im not posting this to keep from going I'm posting this because I want to go again and see it in the future, I will wait a year and go again and see how it is since it just opened I know as with any place there will be a few bugs but some things like dinosaurs not working is unacceptable that's why people are there.

Jimmy TwoToes

Surprisingly pleasant. I've been to almost every dinosaur exhibit in KS. Traveling animatronics come through once in a great while so I was pleased albiet skeptical when i heard that Derby was getting the Field Station. Took us a while to get here and my initial impression was that it was rather small compared to Worlds of Fun dinosaur area and not quiet as scientifically in depth as say Fort Hays museum; but with small kids it actually works perfect. There may not be as many dinosaurs but they included some that i have actually never seen including many that were native to the area. They also brought in a paleontologist to talk about his work...i even own one of his books so i was kinda stoked. Pretty neat place...could utilize some of the deadspace with cast dinos that don't move but kind of are hidden...i always enjoy looking for those at other parks. Good job guys and hope this expands enough to come back a few times a year

Rebecca Reznicek

Nice big dinosaurs but a little pricey for what is there.

John Hislop

Need more to do. Need other things to do to attract us again

Thomas Nicholson

Very fun and entertaining.

A Thompson

My nephew who is 6 enjoyed it, so that was a plus there! I however was anticipating it to be a lot more exciting and interactive. I kept myself busy reading the different facts of each dinosaur, but was expecting more for the price.

Suzie Cote

Had a bunch of fun. Look forward to future visits

Randall Landzettel

My wife, boys (2 and 5) and I visited the park for the first time Saturday 08/04 around 6:30pm. We went during the discounted ticket price, so total it was around $40 which wasn't bad. My oldest son loves watching the old Land Before Time movies and was able to recognize a lot of dinosaurs from watching those movies. We didn't buy any of the extra things like mini golf or the workshop activities, we just went to look at the dinosaurs. Everything extra was priced separately and would've been very expensive had we have purchased them. The park was smaller than we expected, but in the end that made it a nice, short trip. The gift shop was extremely crowded and cramped, with some people even waiting outside. We would have purchased something in the gift shop, but there was no way to browse the items for sale due to so many people being inside, but we certainly weren't going to wait for the crowd to diminish. I know it's new, so hopefully the side activities become more enticing rather than just coloring and scavenger hunts. And I hope that they expand the gift shop, because the size was that of a shipping crate. The lady working the cash register in the shop was the same lady taking the "Welcome to the Park" pictures for people. We had planned on grabbing our picture, but again due to the long line and cramped space, we chose to leave instead.

Patti Presson

It was fun. The dinosaurs were life like. Little projects for the kids to do. We would go back when it cools off.

Marcy Wood

First time going. The people are nice and knowledgeable about the dinosaurs. Had a good time and this is a place that you would want to plan on staying at all day because there is alot to learn and do. Just wish it had more life like things for the kids but my daughter still had a blast.

Barry Lawson

This place is terrific fun and it has gotten better in the month or so it' has been opened. The evening hours are a welcome addition. It was cooler and even though they didn't do all their daytime shows, they had a few activities for the kids and a funny show about the t. Rex's bedtime. We had a great time on both our visit and look forward to going back! (The next time we go we plan to play putt-putt golf. I may review that separately!)

Julie Knoblich

This is a great attraction. The grandkids loved it as did we. :-)

Staci Wilson

Way too high priced for the whole experience. I took my family there. I was told my 2 year old would be free admission. Which was not correct. Seeing life sized dinos was cool. But Will definitely never go back. It was just not worth the $100.

Richard Keiter

Took my 6 yr old grandson and had a great time. He is very into Dinosaurs and can name many of them. We had driven by last year when they were building the park and I promised him we would go. I had heard rumor that it was over priced and not really worth it. I was very pleasantly surprised and thought it was well worth the Day pass price of around $30 for both of us. We were able to carry water and snacks in a back pack in with us and they had great activities. They put on skits which were very entertaining especially for the younger kids. They provided a credentials book and as you participated in activities he received stamps to work towards his Super Paleontologist award (which was a sticker). It also included the mini golf course. There were a couple of things that were extra but my grandson was most interested in the Dinosaur activities not the Ball or Dome climbing activity. I would highly recommend this for those with kids under 10 years old. If they are older than 10 it might be a bit boring for them. Was very please with our day the the Field Station.

Callie Hagood

Excellent place to bring your dino-loving kids! The dinos are not only life-size but they move and make sounds! It was a bit alarming to my 4 year old at first but he quickly adjusted. They have LOTS of FREE activities (every 20 minutes or so) once you enter the park to make the price of admission more than worth it. There are lots of restrooms and although the paths are graceful, they're easy to traverse in a stroller. Staff was super helpful and we ended up spending way longer here than we anticipated! Highly recommended for families, especially ones with aspiring paleontologists! We'll be back!

Wendy Ratliff

Better than expected!! Took 90 kids on a field trip and they had Fun

Leann Hoover

The Dinosaurs After Dark is a really good idea, But the staff RUSHED the tour. Walked soo fast thru trail and didn't allow any time to take pictures or read the signs. The whole tour time all you hear is "come on. ,come on keep up with the guide" for a 7-10 PM. time slot they had everyone out by 9 p.m. not worth the time go during the day to enjoy your visit.

Willie Young

Wow! This place was a hidden gym. There is no way that I would have thought something as cool as this would have been located in the middle of Kansas. It was recommended by a friend, and it was an experience I will never forget. In addition to being able to see huge life-like, animatronic dinosaurs, we also attended classes throughout the day that were very informative and memorable. I DEFINITELY recommend this for a family trip, no matter the ages.

Darren Oakley

Great fun for the little ones. Nicely kept and decent prices.

Guy Gsell

The best, hardest working staff west of the Mississippi! Thank-you for making every guest's experience special.

Allen Carter

The pros: The dinosaurs are really well done, and although mostly stationary, are true size and it's easy to imagine how frightening a world would be were they still around. Additionally there was a lot of variety so everyone's favorite is likely to be included. Particularly liked they chose so many discovered in Kansas and adjacent locales. The staff is enthusiastic and the show performers care about the kids having fun AND learning. The T-Rex feeding show was the best and my girls (4 & 6) particularly loved it. The sand pit with the fossils to uncover was pretty popular. Lots of kiddos had a good time in there, and it was one of the few interactive activities that wasn't a add-on. Its good to be able to come and go. Lots of places to eat close by so that's a welcome departure from most theme parks. Cons: Whoever designed the park certainly underestimated the role of seasonal weather in Kansas. It gets HOT here, and that is going to drive a lot of people away as it gets deeper into summer. I can't imagine scorching out there in August. We actually hung out in the bathroom for about 10 minutes as it was one of the only air conditioned buildings in the place. #1 reason I wouldn't go back right away. Felt a lot like a work in progress. Much of the landscaping was parched or dying and it felt particularly dry and scorched throughout the park. Shades were being installed while people were milling around, but there is a lot of upgrades needed in this area. There is a big lack of interaction with much of the park. The dinos are great to look at, but after about 15 minutes, its more like a large scale, very cool looking wax museum. SUGGESTIONS 1. Add shade cloth over the majority of the dinosaur path. It wouldn't need to be that high and the sides could be left open to view the animals. 2. Put misters under the shade cloth, at least in a few areas. 3. Add more interactive features, which would make kids more likely to want to come back or upgrade to a season pass. Here's a few suggestions my wife and I came up with: A. Put a giant dino head coming out of jungle wall, where kids had pretend they are about to be eaten. Let them be able to touch it and take pictures. B. Make some of the animatronics stomp their feet. Build a deck or platform next to the exhibit and put some rumblers under there to make it feel like an earthquake or stampede. Engage more than just visual and aural senses. C. Overall, make it more jungle-like and less savannah. Water the vegetation, plant some vines. (Think isla nebular) D. Make a playground with rock formations, caves and tunnels, filled with exposed "fossils" and nooks and slides. Something they can climb work out some energy. E. Some kind of water feature. Maybe an underground tunnel with a plexiglass pond above it where you could feature some of the aquatic dinosaurs. Build a little river tumbling through the park. Would also help it not feel so hot. F. Instead of gravel or concrete pathways, why not cover the place in dino tracks? Let the kids step inside and see how big they really were. It would add one more little interesting quirk and cost very little. G. At some point, let them touch or hold a real fossil, somewhere in an exhibit. Overall for one time its worth going. Its twice the cost of a movie and a lot more memorable. My girls have been pretending to be dinos ever since we went. But until they add a few things, I can't see a reason to repeat the trip.

John Doll

Enjoyed it mostly. Great for the kids !

We had SO MUCH FUN! It's really what you make it. We attended in the evening, the weather was perfect, and tickets were cheaper. The story time at around 7pm was so cute, and my one year old daughter enjoyed it very much. You gotta love taking selfies and having an imagination is key. The dinosaurs actually move and make sounds. I didn't wanna spoil the park so I didn't add any of those up close photos. Overall, I would totally recommend this to everyone.

Jenny Roat

Had a great time! The staff was there to answer any questions we had. Prices in the gift shop were good. It took us about 3 hours to go through with reading every sign and watching some of the shows.

Rex Bradley

Great place to take a day away

Justin Kufahl

I'd been waiting to come here and finally found a nice cool evening to get their $10 special from 6-9 P.M. There was an amusing T-Rex bed time show and just enough time to wander and take some pix before dark. My 5 year old daughter loved it and I was pleasantly surprised too.

Sarah Leonard

We had a fun day! The park was a little expensive, but of you go to the shows it is well worth the money. The employees are talented, excited and engaging. They are also very knowledgeable. It would be nice to have a playground area, sprinkler pad or picnic area, so you can bring food and make a day of it. The coolers of water was also appreciated.

Andrea Strecker

The Challenge Dome is ridiculous!!! They have 1-2 teenagers working and they “are not allowed” to help the kids with their harness. Thankfully I only had 2 kids with me so I was able to help them. But the workers don’t make sure the harness is secure. That’s up the kids and parents.....who know nothing about the harness. Then the kids go up on low or high levels with clips with no help. I had a 10&11 year old with me that spent the majority of the time trying to clip and unclip themselves. The only help that was available was ME on the ground watching them struggle. No staff anywhere to assist once they were up in the air. We won’t be back!!!

Bruce Sharp

Great time and the grandson had a blast!

Gygyn TD

Pricey, I was expecting more for $15+ per person. Interactive dinosaurs meant they just moved when you passed them. Excavation lab was not included. My family was disappointed, will not be back. We were done within an hour. Another thing, parking for Honda customers only? Weird...

Matthew Minnich

Kids enjoyed it! They can pronounce the dinosaur names better than I can! Great way to feed their curiosity and take the family out for a fun afternoon. Bit pricey but good overall experience.

Michelle Ulmer

As a Derby resident, I want for this place to do well. Unfortunately, it is very high priced for what it is. We took my nine year old son and he had seen enough and wanted to leave after an hour. Three adults, one kid, one hour, $72. We didn’t do the add ons of minigolf, ropes courses, dinosaur digs, etc. Anyway, as expensive as it is, I’m glad my son has no interest in going back.

Jeffery Gibson

Very interesting. There were signs telling about each dinosaur. We went in December and they had the dinosaurs done up with Christmas decorations. It was fun. Felt like we were in the Jurassic Park movie. I was surprised at how many dinosaurs moved. I think just about all of them moved and they had dinosaur sounds to go with it. Our grandson loved it.

Julie Kelley

Please add more shade! Other than that, this place is rocking along and is lot of fun! My little loved it!

Amy Cioli

Our girls had the best time!

Clayton Hill

Little one and I enjoyed but better for a little older kids.

Brenton Thomas

My 3 year old loved it, especially digging for fossils in the sand. I especially love that there was an awning, so it was fairly comfortable on a miserably hot day. The maze could be a little bigger. We drove just under 5 hours specifically for this park. While I'm not sure that we'll come back, we also weren't disappointed.

Randy Stone

We had a great time. Santa Claus was amazing, Steve helped us around the park. Jennifer served some excellent apple cider. Thank you all. And have a Merry Christmas. The only problem I had was that the employees could not say Merry Christmas. That is very wrong

Joshua Rawn

The dinosaur displays were OK, that’s it. Pack a lunch because there are no food options. Take an umbrella because none of the actual displays are shaded. Plan on standing because the only seating is at stations that are over crowded. And plan on spending a minimum of $100 for a family of four. If you are not a local that is bored, already has a “member pass”, with nothing to do, don’t bother.

K B

Very nice park. It is on the expensive side but they have tons of shows/talks and is very kid friendly. They have free jugs of water around the park and shade in all the show areas but the rest of the park has little shade as you walk around. All staff were very friendly and helpful on our visit.

Ashley Clark

We had SO MUCH FUN! Can't wait to go back!

Kelly comp

Kids love it

Chris Hibbert316

We went on a tour with the school and a group of about 30 children, a guide shown us around the park but this felt rushed as we were unable to read the information about the exhibits. The show in the amphitheatre entertained the kids and they had a good time watching.

Kimberly Olson

Very expensive admissions compared to what your getting out of it. The grandkids were given a booklet to get stamped for their field activities (supposed to be 6 stamps). There was NO activities at all-very disappointing. Over half of the dinosaur's speakers were inoperable, the bouncy house was closed down due to high winds - it's Kansas and they should have planned a shelter belt/wind break for it. We went to the Kansas climb at 12:25, my grandson wanted to climb. We were not greeted friendly by that attendant, and was told they closed at 1:00 for lunch...what the heck it was a Sunday and they were going to close??!! Grandson was told he could come back at 2. I asked why he couldn't climb for 30 minutes w the 2 other kids that were in front of us getting their gear on. ??? We then went over to the putt-putt golf, again nothing spectacular. It might sound like something fantastic on their website but I/we were far from being impressed. On the way home I asked the grandkids what the best part of the day was?.... Eating lunch at Spangles. So what does that tell you?

Teri Genteman

We went 6 to 9 pm. Tickets are only 10.00 per person. It was well worth that. Then when we were leaving we were able to upgrade our tickets for 5.00 more to get an all day pass for another day, and we can come and go all that day.

Lane Lonny

The animated dinosaurs were awesome! However, everything else about th experience was terrible. That’s why I rated it a one star. I paid $43 for my two kids and myself to see animated dinosaurs. We went in July, it was hot. They do not allow outside food, drink, that includes your own water! The water offered there was not ice cold what so ever. We seen two shows. They were not educational at all, nor did they have anything to do with dinosaurs. I will not be going back.

Kristina Mckown

My daughter had a lot of fun. The dinosaurs are pretty cool to see. They're large, have movement, and make sounds. I'm hoping that they do expand thier shop someday, though!

Terry Franklin

Of course we picked the hottest weekend to go but my grandson was fascinated by the place. My grandson doesn't realize I was also fascinated by dinosaurs as a boy so we had debates over identifying which were which. However, it does speak to his engagement with the park. Goal achieved.

Barbara Hudson

I read all the reviews before we went. I thought I'd have to lower my expectations - not! I think the nay-sayers must have had stomach cramps not related to their visit. We took 9: 1 Senior, 2 adults, 6 children from 18 months to 12 years. I thought the tickets were a little pricey until we enterd the park. The park is not large but the dinosaurs are huge and so life-like. We were all enthralled. The signage is informative and quirky. I didn't get to appreciate it the first time around because the children wanted to see all the dinosaurs immediately. I got to enjoy it more during the scsvenger hunt. The activities they have are designed for children with the adults having the benefit of watching happy children. The activities are both fun and educational. There are even some little prizes that are just right for kids. The staff are all very enthusiastic and charming. We spent 2 hours in the morning seeing all the dinosaurs and taking in about 3 activities. Then we left the park and went to Dairy Queen where they have the best selection of kid's meals. After lunch mom took uncle and the 2 littles home for naps. Grandma (me) took the older 4 back for 2 more hours of dinosaur fun. It is obvious the park has not been open long. The new landscaping is struggling in our Kansas drought conditions. It will be great once it takes hold. An earlier reviewer had some good suggestions. The cleverly named TriceraShop is small but, since the park is all dinosaurs, the souvenir options are limited. The are no more expesive than any other gift shop I've been in (which is to say they are expensive). The quality seemed very good. And, again, the staff were cheerful and helpful. I honestly thought that once we'd seen it we wouldn't go again but I'm thinking now maybe once a year would be fun. We didn't do the challenge dome or miniature golf. The 12 year old will bug me until we do. Looks like fun.

Cartez Lewis

A little to expensive for a park full on statue dinosaurs. $60 bucks is steep for a family of four and what we experienced. I rather just go to Sedgwick county ZOO.

Alex Arnold

My best friend and I went here for the first time today and both had a great time. We were really surprised with how detailed things were and had no idea there were so many dinosaurs there or that they moved and made sounds. He loves dinosaurs and was happy as a kid in a candy shop. Needless to say, we both recommend it. They also have other activities like miniature golf and a climbing structure there which are included in the ticket price.

michael beaver

Took my son for his 3rd birthday party he had amazing time running around seeing dinosaurs there was so much to see and do it was overwhelming at some points but in a good way the staff is very friendly and full of knowledge they also have put put wich looked really fun but we ran out of time had to drive 3 hours back home before it got too late..my sin cant wait to go back.. my only complaint is they need more personalized souvenirs with company name on them like cups or shot glasses or something all they had was shirts so that's a bummer but for being open only 2 years they are doing really good its definitely worth a trip if your into dinosaurs

R. J. Smith

Fantastic experience! Prices are fair. The staff was helpful and amazing! Entertaining and educational. Bathrooms nice and clean. Fun for the whole family, not just the kids.

Drew Steadman

Went for a friends birthday. It was pretty fun. I think if our daughter was older she would have enjoyed it more. She’s only 10 mo. It is a good idea. The dinosaurs aren’t very realistic but I’m sure the kids don’t mind. They had water and a mister set up to cool you down.

Sue Vajgrt

Gkids enjoyed...some. They got bored fast. Not enough to keep them engaged. High $$ admission. Drive 4 1/2 hrs. Disappointed.

Tim Smith

took my grandkids over the weekend, the employees were very well trained and made it fun for them. they knew all sorts of facts bout the dinos. They made it special for them and included them in their presentation. i would recommend this for kids

Hayley Wilson

Make sure to check out the feeding frenzy show. The trex puppet is AWESOME!

michael hatmaker

Fun park to see Dinosaurs. We're from Maryland and are in KS visiting family and decided to come to the park. Parking was easy, large parking lot. Got our tickets at the ticket booth quickly. The shows and collecting of stamps was fun for the kids. Food prices are very low compared to other venues I have been to. Over all, the staff was very involved with the children and learning and playing. We will definitely be back at the park hopefully when it's cooler outside

Donna Machutta

Not that much there; way too expensive

Charley schiesser

Needs a little maintenance done.

Good Music Caprice

Knowledgeable about past and current theories on dinosaurs, the state of Kansas involvement and the states being the beginning of Paleontology. The great bone wars and how dinosaurs impacted the enviroment.

Martha Buehler

Its a nice place for a school trip..but for the price..not the best attractions...shows were ok but the TRex frenzy kinda scary for little kids. Scavenger hunt should be given up front because you have to go thru whole park for answers. The prizes are cheesy kid tatoos. Maybe a one time thing, but not a repeat attraction...in my book!

Justin Miller

Field Station Dinosaurs is a great place to bring your family with plenty to do and learn!

RANDALL KOEHN

A terrific experience for anyone intrigued with dinosaurs. My 6 year old and I loved it!

Vance Boyer

Very fun for children.

Gwyn Fili

Great experience. Exceeded my expectations.

Megan Rose

Very kid oriented, climbs go in intervals of every hour or so which is inconvenient. Minigolf was good, creative. Not a whole lot to do besides look at animatronic dinosaurs, but it was creative. I don’t recommend going directly after rain— minigolf was flooded and the paths were a little muddy but that’s not the fault of the attraction. Overall good family fun.

Kelly Peters

My grandson, age 5 loved it. I went not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. Reading several reviews, some people seem very hard to please!!

LaNetta Jackson

We had an amazing time they were very accommodating as it completely poured while on our visit and they gave out ponchos and put us in a tent until it stopped

Amanda Pfannenstiel

Great family fun place. Highly recommend. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Clean facilities. Not many air conditioned places though so get a season pass or go when it's cooler outside. Otherwise had a great time. Will do again.

Adam Beahm

Terrible experience, no staff around, over priced for cheap attractions. Most construction is plywood and temp buildings, don't waste your money!

Mathew League

Just opened has some rough edges to address. Only concession stand is outside the front gate. Would like to see one added inside the park. They did do an excellent job of providing cold water to all the patrons (94°F). Placards for the dinosaurs were marked if they were also on display at the Fossil Hall of the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita.

Nice place had fun just needs more cooling stations for when it is hot.

Clem Borkowski

I visit Derby often for business and enjoy seeing the construction progress. This park will be a great addition to the Derby community. Who ever posted the 1 star review should be removed, clearly it's spam. I encourage others to "Flag" the review.

Nicole Newcomer

My kids loved the dinosaurs and the shows. Also enjoyed the fossil dig that was included with admission. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Angela Diedrich

Something different. The staff was very friendly. The site manager provided some really nice insights into the exhibits. Agree with others that it's a little pricey. One time through the "extras" could be included with the admission fee. Could use some fans and/or misters, but I appreciate that water coolers were placed regularly about. Was afraid it might be a little "young" for 2 eleven year old boys but they both enjoyed it, and so did I. I liked that many of the dinosaurs were discovered locally or regionally and there were many I'd never heard of before.

Vickie Prebula

Was a school field trip. The kids had a blast. The staff were amazing. Not peak park time, so there was not a lot extra for the kids to do. Learned a lot about the dinosaurs. Kids played in the dig station. Loved digging up the dinosaur.

C B

No Albertasaurus, step your game up.

JACK MANION

My wife and I took our 8 grandkids to Field Station: Dinosaurs on Friday night Dec 7. We all had a great time. Staff was so cordial, displays were playful (dino's were having their first Christmas) and interesting. I would recommend this to anyone, you won't be disappointed.

Mike Townes

Spent nearly $200 to buy season passes for my family only to find out that half of the activities in the park are not included. That isn't stated on the website when you purchase the season passes. The challenge Dome and paleontologist laboratory are both excluded from the season pass but you wouldn't know that unless you purchase a season pass and tried to use it. It does conveniently state that all purchases are final while leaving out pertinent information about your purchase. My kids favorite part of the park was the challenge dome the rest was mediocre. We definitely regret our purchase.

Randal West

This place was great! The shows were pretty good, well split so you could attend what you wanted in the time you were there...the dinosaurs were awesome!

D Reimer

An amazing park, absolutely fascinated with the moving dinosaurs. Have a very entertaining skit for children, or all ages, in an amphitheatre. Loved it.

Liliana Avendano

The activities were very good and my kids enjoyed the dinosaurs

Jason Bealby

Our family had a great time. The kids, 6 and 9, really enjoyed the various educational shows. The life (actual) sized animatronic dinosaurs were a site to be seen. Driving by the park really does no justice to what you'll find inside the park. Excellent! With more and more details added over time, it just continues to get better.
