Always enjoy my stay. The lake isn't the best but that is only cause of the location, has nothing to do with the work that goes into the place. The park it's self is very nice with nice trails and camping sites.

Tried to rent a cabin, the website is a bit painful to use, and they want my driver's license and social security number.... to rent a tiny little cabin, for one night.... -_- no thanks!

Ok. If you don't have electric only hookups, why do you advertise them? I'm not paying $24-$28/ night for a quick stay. If you had electric for $14, like a lot of other state parks, that would be fine... Show up late, leave early... That's what I'm looking for. You need to remove your electric only signage and remove it from online. Overpriced.

I left the cabin at 6am with 6 bed bugs bits it was the worse night ever for my husband and 2 little kids. Luckily I killed some bed bug before them bit my kiddos. Nasty beds....

Boating and skiing. Wear a life jacket. ~This water has deep holes and whirl pools.~ Camping and fishing. The fish here can get big! There is a swim area. The beach is nice.

I always love this lake. I have camped here since I was born. I love how clean most of this lake is. I love the staff, and you always feel like you are right at home at this lake. We like the South loop on the West side. It is a very popular spot. We used to love smarsh, but the new camp host is running it down quickly. We love the camp host Sherri and Randy on the South loop. The views are amazing wherever you are in the lake. There is an AMAZING variety of wildlife at this park. The park rangers keep it very safe and is never uncomfortable. Yes, there may be drinking on the large holidays, but have never had a problem of anybody getting violent, rowdy, etc. As I said, we love Cheney lake. The trails are amazing, boat docks are clean and can be busy, but people are very polite.

This is a nice, small state park/lake. There are wonderful hiking trails and places to swim/wade. There are boat docks as well as places to fish. Great scenes and easy to find your way around. It is an overall nice place to visit for the whole family. The hiking days are wonderfully put together as well.

Rented the osprey for a night and it came with plenty of cups, dishes, silverware, and even pots and pans. Great for parties and camping.

Nice sites. We stayed after Labor day weekend so very quiet and peaceful. Some wildlife seen. Watched sail boats on the lake from our RV one evening. Small town 6 miles from park with a grocery store and a couple of eating places. Mosquitoes a problem after a rain. Very relaxing stay.

One of the best state parks in Kansas! Cabin rentals AR available, lots of hiking and biking trails, the park is well maintained and naturally beautiful.

Plenty of good camping spots. South side of the lake is a little better maintained, but the North side has the option to camp on the shore. The south side also has the only playground. Plenty of wildlife, raccoons are everywhere. Lots of mullberry trees, watch for them in May and June. Poison ivy is everywhere, often close to or in campsites. The lake is pretty shallow, you can walk through most of it.

We love getting away and spending time at the lake. We don't own a boat or a jet ski but enjoy finding a sandy beach to sit and watch the kids play in the water. It's also neat to watch the sailboats on the water and take in the beauty of nature.
