This Park corresponds to the category of State park.
Beautiful bluffs overlook the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers.
Great view and clean park
Went to the camp ground over the weekend and it was really niceLots of people and the camp sites were ok. The only thing that was really horrible and utterly disgusting was the restrooms that were close to the campsites.. OMG for a state park I really didn't expect that at all.. They are so bad you can't even stand near them let along go in and use them... ugh... something should definitely be done about that....
This was one of the better waterfalls, and was very relaxing.
Lovely park.
Absolutely love taking a day trip here with the kids and dogs.
Really nice place to visit. Gift store employee was pleasant and helpful.
Clean, well kept facilities and walking trails. Gorgeous views!!
Fun nature trails and great overlook of the Mississippi river.
Great location, watch out for the four legged bandits.
Beautiful view of the river and good place for trekking as well
Great place for a stopover/visit. Free admission, short boardwalk (accessible) from the parking lot. Clean bathroom. There is often a volunteer up there, telling you about the park, sights etc. Definitely recommended to come here and enjoy the view!
What a wonderful view of the Mississippi river!
Nice views and well-maintained trails. Went in late June and there was a small to medium amount of water on the falls, and it was not incredibly crowded. The signage could definitely be more clear on the trails - sometimes it's hard to tell what trail you're on at the forks. The free map provided doesn't exactly match the trails, either.
Nice park, with a beautiful view over looking Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin and best part, NO FEE NEEDED to enter park, unlike Wisconsin park across the river that charges a fee just to drive through their park!!!!! THAT is the difference between a conservative government in Iowa, and a liberal state like Wisconsin - geesh, give me a break!!!
Nicely designed and well maintained state park on the bluffs overlooking the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers. Easy access to spacious overlooks from the parking area for those not wanting to hike, plus miles of trails for hikers interested in exploring the park. Recommend a visit to the north end of the park via a narrow river road to the MacGregor parking area, which is the trailhead for the trail to Point Ann.
Always a beautiful view and we'll kept grounds
Beautiful place, so peaceful.
Great views, extremely well kept trails, and a fun overall experience.
Free admission. No garbage cans. Clean Bathrooms with running water & electricity. Parking for 60 cars +-. No specific RV / Trailer parking - depending on how people park their cars, there should be space. Campground 150 feet from parking lot (potable water & dump, 30' + 5th wheels). Working drinking fountains. Small playground. Lots of picnic tables: covered and uncovered, with grills. Great Verizon signal. 1 1/2 miles of trails. A few Indian Mounds. 2 waterfalls (small). I spent just over 1 hour seeing the sights & walking all trails.
One of my Mom's favorite places to visit. After her funeral today - was important to stop by.
Very nice hidden park discovered by the same Pike who discovered Pikes peak Colorado. Many photo ops waterfalls and small hiking trails.
Beautiful, would highly recommend the hike!
Beautiful, well maintained trails that are accessible for all. We visited on a a wet, isolated showers day but that added to the experience of the falls along the trail. Will be visiting again to try another trail along the Mississippi river.
Good place to camp, picnic or day trip.
Beautiful park with fantastic views of the Mississippi River
Our family had a ton of fun!
Fantastic walking and spectacular views
It's a good place to see the Wisconsin river dump lnto the Mississippi River
Lovely state park. We camped for two nights. It is a short walk from the campground to the overlook and the park store. Wonderful trails.
Loved the boardwalks into the trees and nature. Even a small waterfall!
Awesome Campground with cheap rates.
A very nice park with effigy mounds, wildlife, a waterfall and nicely done trails..
A beautiful overlook with burial mounds for those who want to see the beauty of the Mississippi river valley without the hiking (although there's hiking, too!)
Everytime I place a special order like extra mayonnaise or extra onions they get it completely wrong
Love this place! Great place to camp, trails are always well maintained, and close to McGregor. Marquette, and Prairie du Chien! The view is worth the drive because it's always stunning!
Great trails!! Beautiful campsites. All around great place to make a day trip to!!
A+ park. Inexpensive yet perfect camping.
Beautiful park with some very well groomed trails. The Bridal Veil Trail has a great wooden walkway that was recently completely redone and makes it an easy trek for younger and older folks. The scenic outlooks, especially the clear view of the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi River, are fantastic! Busy hummingbird feeders right next to the main parking lot give a lot of entertainment as well.
Too woodsy, terrible bug infestation
Very well maintained, good view of the rivers, plenty of parking, good restrooms, nice park store offerings!
Great hike and another great staycation shot
Beautiful overlooks of the Upper Mississippi River and the mouth of the Wisconsin River; very nice trails with wooden walkways and a very nice campground with well maintained shower houses.
Just beautiful. The view from the cliff 600 feet above the Mississippi is breath taking. We go trout fish in the Iowa Driftless every year all spring and summer. This area you have to see to appreciate it. Pictures just can't do it justice.
Beautiful views from atop a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. Great photo ops, hiking trails, picnic areas. Seasonal gift shop and modern restrooms, with year round primitive restrooms. There is also as ancient Native American effigy mound called Bear Mound. Come during warmer seasons, and the trees in front of the gift shop are hung with several humming bird feeders that may be frequented by 20-30 hummingbirds at a time. So fun to watch!
Great views from the bluffs. Nice hiking trails (many if which are being improved) and we had a great breeze helping to cool us during our visit. Did the short hike to Bridal Veil Falls (20 minutes), but there are much longer hikes if that's what you're looking for. They have restrooms at the parking area as well as a small gift shop/hut.
Great overlook views short hikes.
It was overcast the day we visited, however, the views remained excellent in spite of the less than perfect weather. This park is very well maintained and the amenities include many classic, stone construction buildings. This is just a beautiful, well-placed spot to appreciate the magnificence of the 'Mighty Mississippi.'
Very short walk to a great overlook of the Mississippi River for a great photo OP. If you're looking for a bit more adventure they have a small waterfall nearby you can check out which is on a windy wooden pathway.
Really neat walk over looking the Mississippi river. Great overlooks and some effigy mounds
Amazing views! Hard to believe you're in Iowa! Worth a trip for sure
Great views of the Mississippi River valley and close by to other awesome place to explore in both Iowa and Wisconsin.
Great State Park. Camping is great !
One of the best views or the best view in Iowa. Here are a few cell phone shots.
Pikes Peak is a very nice state park. 70 camping sites. Close together but it is still nice. Showers and restrooms are clean and kept up. Hiking is great.
Famtastic place with great views of Mississippi River. On high stone bluff 500 feet above the river. Paths are very well maintained. Great for a revisit too.
Beautiful views of the river valley
The owners do not like Outsiders. Even if you're somewhere from the state they want you to be in the town or near it. You're allowed to Camp inside your vehicle. Which we did because our tent had a hole in it. We had to turn the heat on because it was so cold But Here Comes 4 to 3:30 in the morning we going to knock on our window. A police officer said he received a noise complaint. We can only expect that it was either the kids that were misbehaving non-stop or it was the owner's wife. There's a lot of immature kids there so I wouldn't bring the kids you want to keep mature there. Back-to-the top thing. He made us turn off our vehicle we got a lot with no electricity so we really had nothing to keep us warm . We paid for 2 days to Camp there but we decided after the first night that we were just going to up right leave. There were a lot of people camping in their vehicles but we don't know why we were the only problem. Our vehicle is not loud unless you're pressing on the gas. Also we had somebody that had a camper by us that was very loud. This shouldn't be a problem but it turned out it was we were away from the owners on the other side of the campground and we don't know why they send a complaint like that. They did help my dad find his phone and they took care of it and gave it back to him. But last time me and my dad Camp to the campground we have the car running but no one seemed to mind. The trails are beautiful but yet we had to get out of there so we weren't able to see it all. I'm only giving this one star because it wasn't that good of a campground. I mean the one that I went to that was for free was even better than this one.
Amazing views.
Beautiful views of the confluence of the Wisconsin and Missippi Rivers from high on the bluff. Great hiking trails, some paved and accessible.
Great trails. Lots of awesome scenery to explore.
Great view of the Missippissi river
Breath taking views of both the Mississippi River and Wisconsin River. Great trails along the buff top that make their way down to couple neat little waterfalls. Be quiet so you don't spoke the deer, I see some every visit no matter what time of year.
Beautiful views!!! I could have spent hours at the overlook!
Great hiking and camping! Loved it.
Breath taking views! Serene setting.
Nice place to stop and look at the river or take a hike in the woods. Nice easy trails to go on and a overlook of the river is beautiful, especially in the fall.
Very pretty. Be prepared for lots of stairs.
Beautiful visit in the Driftless region. Super staff, wonderful views. Walking paths in very good shape.
Did a Astronomy program here last night. Had a good crowd, was a great night for viewing. Haven't been to this park in a long time. The view from the lookouts are spectacular!
Beautiful Scenery and nice park!
Some newly completed trails.
Fantastic views and good trails.
Park is nice. Camping not so much. Host is hard to get along with.
Very beautiful view but there is not much to it. Pretty small for a state park. Modern bathrooms are closed!
Great place to hike with many great views
It's a Wonderful park always been my favorite All My Life Born and Raised near there.
Great views of the River Valley Region in this corner of the world. Nice trails for hiking, biking, picnicking fun for the entire family.
This park has a great view of the Mississippi and the river valley. Bridal veil Falls is Nantes a large or major waterfall. However if you were to go after a heavy rain, I'm sure that it would be a lot more impressive. However, it was still worth the hike down.
Fantastic views of the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers with easy walking trails through lush hardwoods.
Beautiful Views... Clean Facilities.... Wooden walkway for large portion of the trails.
Worth the trip. Very nice views of the Mississippi.
Beautiful, got married there 44 years ago
Awesome views of the Mississippi. Has some decent Ridge trails.
Love this place, it's beautiful and has really good hiking. Great place to take your family.
Super scenery and great hiking.
View is worth stopping for and the drive is g rest too. You can see stuff and learn about it, it's a state park! Grills, picnic tables, and public restrooms are abundant!
Beautiful place for a grill out.
Such a beautiful view. I love the park and paths they have there. Absolutely on the list of must see things in McGregor.
View fabulous. Campsite great. Showers were clean and water was warm. Only thing were the gnats are terrible this year..uncontrollable.
Really nice park, and it was free! Nice views and some nice, little falls. Clean bathrooms. Little gift shop. Nice signage on what critters are found in the area.
Absolutely beautiful!
Very well maintained park. The hiking trails are well marked with great views of the Mississippi river and were the mouth of the Wisconsin river meets the Mississippi. It dose have a nice but small camp ground with full showers and toilets as well as pit toilets. Electrical hook ups at most of the sites. The camp ground fills up fast so make reservations early in the week for the following weekend or you will not have a camp site.
Great views of Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers.
It was clean and close to the hiking trails.
The history and the views were amazing. Very well kept.
Very clean campground. A lot of nice trails to walk.
River was flooded but view was great
Great park with a waterfall on the trails. Lots of different trails to choose from so make sure to take a picture of the trail map with you. I went with my 3 boys (1.5, 11 & 16) and all enjoyed the hike. We started by looking out over the Mississippi river then headed up Bridal Veil Trail to the waterfall. It is small but still worth seeing. I was hoping there would be a place to wade near the waterfall so the boys could play a little & get there feet wet but there wasn't anything like that. Still an enjoyable experience. Overall we spent about 2 hours exploring and taking our time to really enjoy nature.
Have some fun and don't get stripped away from the current
I love coming to this state park. It is so peaceful and quiet.
Great place if you enjoy nature
Very pretty view of the delta. There are a lot of bugs though, since there is so much water. There are some neat hiking trails, too.
Great place to hike, great views of the Mississippi nice camp ground
I dont really use the main entrance to the park. I go in from the grain elevator along the river in McGregor. Think it is way more beautiful from this entrance. Not to mention the tons of wildlife u see. My wife , daughter and I visit this park often. It's just so nice to walk trails with family or friends. My daughter learns alot from me on plants that are edible . Plus she learned that the plant touch me knots helps to kill the itch from poison ivy and kneddles.
Absolutely breathtaking panoramic views! Love it.
Gorgeous view and great trail hiking. Love the falls. Also lots to see if you dont have much time to spend there.
Fantastic trails, nice easy hikes, did them with 5 kids from 1-9. Loved every minute of it. Highly recommend for hikers with kiddos.
Nice campground but needs some maintenance on some of the sites. Some sites have a different setup and the electric is on the opposite side...you might need to bring an extension. Great views and trails!!
Always great with its spectacular overlooks of the Mississippi and Wisconsin rivers. The trail to Bridal Veil Falls becomes a boardwalk, which is nice, but can be slippery if it's wet or really humid out. The park even has mounds and at least one effigy mound, the later a pretty easy walk not far from the park's shelter area. Beware, this park is super, super busy during fall leaf colors. Might want to visit mid-week then if possible.
This is a wonderful little gem of a state park. It overlooks the Mississippi River from the Grandeur of Bluffs that are at least two to three hundred feet high. It is situated right where the Confluence of the Wisconsin River and the Mississippi meet, and it is part of the Effigy Mounds area. So the park actually has some Effigy Mounds in it. Also there are several little waterfalls to go and explore on some very well-maintained trails
Enjoyed camping here for first time, although wish they would have sewer hookup as well (have dump station). Have loved hiking these trails for years. Great for locals and tourists.
A wonderful park and a must visit. The camp sites are a little close together in some spots but it's so quiet you'd never notice! Grounds are immaculate and bathhouse was G.I. clean. The hiking path to the falls is a boardwalk in one direction and a natural trail from the other. Something for everyone. The views are breath taking. If you do visit, do yourself a favor and visit the small town of Clayton a few miles away. We found it so very well kept and clearly a lot of pride there.
Beautiful vistas, nice campgrounds, small gift/snack bar, trail to a beautiful small waterfall and ample parking. This is a sunrise hunters delight with several easy to access views over the Mississippi River back towards Wisconsin. Much of the prime areas are handicap accessible.
Gorgeous view! Bridal falls is also a must see and a short walk
Did not get to go hiking here, but went to the overlook. Very pretty and clean park with amazing views of the Mississippi.
Beautiful place. Very well maintained. Good place for hiking, biking and camping. Free admission and parking. Quiet place, not too crowded. We went to Bridal veil falls through one of the trails.
Nice look out and boardwalk to the waterfall
Very nice campground. Great value, you can not beat the view from the overlook of the Mississippi and WI rivers
Clean beautiful park nice host. Sites are a bit small. Enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful State Park! The views here are simply breathtaking. Campground area is a bit disappointing (very small and rather crowded) but everything else is great. There's miles and miles of hiking trails, lots of cooking areas, and those spectacular views. If you want some great shots of the Mississippi and the surrounding beauty (bluffs, etc) there is no better place to get them!
Boardwalk trails with handrails are great. Fantastic view. Lots of stairs, be prepared!
Loved the experience and beauty. Very well maintained. A couple of trails were not marked well. Both times I went to the center the people were very friendly and helpful.
Even though the weather wasn't really favoring, we enjoyed every single moment on the trails. Marvelous nature, great views and the amount of wildlife is amazing!
Beautiful place to go sightseeing, or go on a hike. Trails arent too intense but theres a few different routes you can take. Plenty of benches for a picnic and a little food shack that's open during summers/early fall. I recommend going during the fall because it is absolutely stunning when the leaves turn all their colors and the ground is covered in them. Beautiful all year round, but If you are looking for a little extra something go during the leaf changing time. Also a cute little waterfall you can walk down to and take a photo behind if you're brave enough
Little on the cold side today 1/2/ 2019 but oh so beautiful
Well done, clean and quiet. Nice campground and trails.
Pikes peak is in everyway an unimaginable dream to adventure into from the scenic observations to the walking among nature it definitely soothes the soul.
We had a few minutes on our trip to stop and take in some of the views and do a short hike. What we did see was beautiful. We will definitely be back when we can stay longer.
Always enjoy this stop
Lovely, Beautiful and great hospitality. ...
Great view of the River.
Really enjoy going here. Great for exercise. Amazing view. Whole family has a good time.
I proposed to my wife here. We have a cabin in McGregor and go to Pikes Peak every time we go up there. It's always beautiful and one of my favorite places around.
Great park for a quick (or not-so-quick) hike. The dogs love it and the views are beautiful.
amazing view, clean pick nick area
Always Beautiful. Great views of the Mighty Mississippi!
This park has the best lookout point on the Mississippi River. I believe this is the tallest point in Iowa as well but don't quote me on that. Regardless of accolades, the view is amazing and a historic town with lots of charm lies at it's footsteps. There is a .7 mile hike on a wooden path that is alot of fun. I've been coming here since I was a child and now I bring my children. We love it.
The campground supervisor was very friendly and welcoming. The views of the Mississippi River are wonderful.
Beautiful view of the rivers. Trail down to bridal veil falls is moderately difficult.
Gorgeous park overlooking the Mississippi and wisconsin from Iowa. I was married there.
Nats were terrible but an overall beautiful site.
You don't need to walk far for great view. Stairs with railings most places. Unfortunately some people bring their dogs. Can't stand it but can't stop it.
I used to visit here regularly as a kid. This is my first visit back since 2011. I have some mixed feelings about it, but I was overall pleased. The fall colors are beautiful (the reason why we visited the area), even though the lady at the shop disagreed with my sentiment. After spending nearly 8 years in an area that doesn't have trees that change colors (central Texas)...I guess even a "crummy" fall is good enough for me. Bridal Veil Falls was flowing well, but is technically inaccessible. People used to be able to walk down under it but it's more of a viewing platform now. The steep set of steps to the falls was tilted and hard to walk on. Still beautiful. I didn't like the looks of the campground. It seemed very cramped.
Great campground with possibly the best river view. Plenty of trails near campgound. Clean bathrooms. Almost all spots are shady. And only $16 a night with electricity. Can get a little crowded in the season, but some spots are reservable. Stayed here many times and always enjoyed it. Trout streams are just a short drive away and town of McGregor has lots of shops, restaurants and bars to explore.
New steps are a great improvement. It is a beautiful park.
Beautiful views , exspecially in the early morning, the bridal trail is awesome
Love the trails, the waterfall and the views. I consider this the money beautiful state park in Iowa!
Definitely a place you have to visit when you go to McGregor Iowa. the view is magnificent and you can see for miles and miles. You can see an abundance of eagles flying and soaring high at any given time. Absolutely beautiful Park for camping also.
Great place for a view, walk is not bad either
Overall solid state park. Fees are very reasonable, located close to a town with some great restaurants. Bathrooms are modern and clean with a decent shower. Place gets full on weekends but has several first come first serve spots. Sites are a little close to each other and heavily wooded and pretty clean. They have some great fire pits. Definitely worth the stop.
Beautiful!! Great family day trip!!
Absolutely loved the multiple overlooks that have a breathtaking view of the Mississippi River. Also available are trails, a petite little shop and a selection of little creeks and water fall type areas to admire. Would totally recommend to any one who likes nature, photography or hiking.
Beautiful 500 foot overlook of the Wisconsin river flowing into the Mississippi river...several hiking trails a campground and a snack shop are all within the park...free admission for the overlook.
Well maintained and good trail markers. Dog friendly was a plus. Nats were bad but bug shirt saved the day!
Fantastic overlook. Make sure you stopp by when traveling along old man river
It is a great place with even greater views.
Beautiful views. Walking trails and burial mounds.
