We for sure love going to Adventureland. Season passes are 100% worth the price. Love that we can choose whether to swim at Adventure Bay or spend the day hitting up all the rides. Now fall is approaching so more rides until tent close for the season. They added a new section for little ones, we missed going last year, but were extremely pleased to see this new addition. They have added a racetrack with mechanical horses that goes around a track. Parents can take their little ones on this ride or for older children, they can ride alone. Such fun our girls had on this ride, over and over again. This area also has little picnic tables and they have this amazing lemonade you must try! This addition was invested in by Make A Wish foundation and local schools, tell me again what’s not to love about that! Thanks Adventureland for so much great memories this summer.

I attended a business meeting in the palace theater. Nice setup and very spacious. The baked goods looked very fresh and moist, but I only ate fruit. I wouldn't have thought of amusement park as event space, but it was pretty cool being on the park grounds without a trillion other people. Sorta like being in an abandoned town.

I really like this place. So many fun rides! And the new one Phoenix. My new favorite! But there is one thing. The rides keep malfunctioning every time I go. This time, I went on the Falling Star (or whatever it’s called) and I was super excited! I got on, me and my friend were prepared. The ride started, and didn’t work right. It just started going in circles, when it’s supposed to go back and forth a few times. And the circles weren’t even fast. It was very slow circles. And they had to call over many workers to fix it. They insured us that it wasn’t broken. But we had to get off. If we wanted a redo, we had to go to the very back of the line. Not even the front. Which I believe is what we deserved. We had to wait I don’t know how many minutes to ride this ride, and that happened. The line was also pretty big. We would have to wait one full turn for our group to be able to go on it. So what I’m saying is to just fix that part. Other wise my time there was really really fun! Thanks for taking your time and reading this.

Have a great time every time we go! Early years with my kids now in their 40s! Now with my grand kids who are all teenagers! A yearly tradition! You are the best!

Adventureland is the best amusement park in Iowa for sure, with amazing additions such as The Monster and The Phoenix roller coasters.in addition to the already amazing slew of rides and coasters. The added on waterpark is equally fun with a variety of different tube slides and a wave pool. Lines are never too long and the food is reasonably priced.

Don't like that the tickets are getting more expensive, but I do love what I get from A-land. The water park is the place to be when it's hot af

Codi Ryals

Love the new rides hope to go back next year

Rebecca Taylor

Had a great time with family. Just wish smaller adults could ride with small children. Not a lot for infants to do

Luke Xiong-Howser

We were at the pool I didn't realize I was getting over heated/dehydrated. I was waiting for one of our friends to get their stuff when I started to feel very hot. Then my skin got cold and everything was beginning to turn black. I was too dizzy to stand or walk. I attempted to walk to the bar to get water but I had to sit down. The second I sat down an Adventureland employee came to help me. I am so thankful because I didnt know what to do. I almost passed out! They offered to get a wheel chair to get me to the first aid room. After I had some water I was able to get up and walk again. I am so glad the Adventureland employees knew what to do. It makes such a difference that they care about the well-being of others!

Pat Kongkousonh

Water park is awesome. For a smaller park there are quite a few rides. Sad they took out the log flume. Have enjoyed the circus in the past but this year it was not very good; only 3 mediocre acts lasting only 25 minutes and no animal acts.

Sundays are nice because it wasn't super busy. Saturday was long lines and there were 3 or 4 rides closed. Other than that, kids had a great time and the food was good.

CouchPotato

Best time I've had at Adventureland in a long time they have improved a lot over the years and the Phoenix is a good edition to the Adventureland family of rides

Jelly Belly

Loads of fun for everyone in my party. It was my first time riding a rollercoaster. First timers should steer away from "The Monster", but it was a great ride. Water park was great!

ian sims

What a gem to have this in the Des Moines area. Consider yourselves lucky that it's here. Whenever I visit home in the summer, I stop by for a day of nostalgia.

Helen Medina

Was fun , definitely needs some updating. Lazy river water park needs some waves and that cement hurts when u run into it. Tryed to get a lifeguard attention and she was sleeping. Serious.at least 3 rides were unavailable.. been the same for the last 40 years.

We've been going to Adventureland annually for years. I am sad to say the park is declining, despite two recently added roller coasters. There were several rides that were completely shut down with no sign of repair or reconstruction going on - the Sky Glider and the Underground. Many rides need paint and general 'cleaning'. Everything just looks dingy and outdated. The price of admission and all concession items are continually rising without repairs being done. One of the "general interest ride" - the Lady Luck - that we have ridden for years, now won't permit single-riders to be on - this has never been an issue before. Not only that, but the operator was leaving it to guests to "find" their co-rider among the random people waiting in line. How awkward! We were there on the opening day of the state fair, so the park was not crowded and there weren't huge lines - it was not necessary for 'crowd movement' to require double riders. If the ride is becoming unsafe for single riders, fix the ride! We were a group of five, and there were times when someone who wanted to ride simply couldn't due to not allowing single riders. Weird. Same thing with the shooting star - we've been attending for years - both of these rides used to allow single riders in the seats if there weren't other single riders to fill the spots - now they literally won't let single riders go at all - they make people get off. The water park charges a $5 rental fee for the tubes to use in the lazy river and the wave pool. Never have been to a water park that charges extra for tube use. You get $2 per tube back at the end of the day. They allow non-tube people in the lazy river, so you have kids pushing and shoving and swimming/chasing/playing tag through the lazy river, which is annoying. There is no greenery, shade, water-falls or other typical "lazy river' features. They allow people to have alcohol/beverages in the lazy river, which is a pro or con depending on how you view it. People were getting a little obnoxious the day we were there; I think alcohol should be kept in the Sand Bar area and not all over the place. If you want to find a good water park in Iowa, go to Lost Island in Waterloo. Less expensive, much nicer in every way, and the tube use is included. We will continue to come to Adventureland, as it's a family tradition and it's the closest thing to us - but I hope they start cleaning, refreshing and refurbishing existing rides rather than building new ones.

Ryan Epps

Great place to go! The monster is so much fun. I cant compare it to my hometown CEDAR POINT, but Adventureland provides a lot of fun!

Mai Vega

Got a concussion on a ride and when management was contacted there was no response. I was only hoping that they would re-evaluate the safety on certain rides because smaller adults and children all get on to the rides and not just average sized adults. The restrains were too loose for me on multiple rides, even the rides which could cause serious injury.

The VIPKid Mentor

We love Adventureland. It has something for big and little park goers. The park is always clean and well kept and is less expensive than Six Flags. We make the drive at least once a summer to go!

HeyItsCindy !

I love this place, it's a great way to spend time with family and friends! All they rides are amazing and the bay is so fun to swim and go on water slides

To start with, this isn't my kind of thing to do so take with a grain of salt. This park is huge and I don't understand why there isn't a trolley or golf carts of some sort to take people from one end to the other. I'm fine walking but we had someone with us who had an injury. We ended up renting a wheel chair but still, they would have been fine if there had been transportation. I also wish there was a separation of the two parks. I only did things in the water park and it would be very easy for them to create a barrier and sell two different tickets or both for less. I don't do rides. So no real comment. They looked alright and the toddler we had with us enjoyed all the rides geared towards him. Wave pool and lazy river are more my speed. The giant water slides were a no go for me. The ones you ride with tubes were fun. We sprung for the cheapest cabana. I would recommend doing this if you have a big group. It's nice to have a place for everyone to gather. They also have a cabinet you can lock your valuables in that also has a mini fridge in it. I thought the price of the food was very fair. Quality was good. Really enjoyed the fries, the cook on the chicken strips was ok, not too dry but crispy. Not a lot of seasoning on them though. Alcohol was a little pricey but no worse than a concert. I guess my problem was this was a lot of money to spend most of the day hanging out at a wave pool sipping a 7 dollar beer. It was super crowded and just kind of stressful. The map sucks and the park is hard to get around.

Josh Morehouse

Always fun at Adventureland. The park is clean and the size makes it so convenient for a one day mini vacation. I was really impressed with the recent additions for the little kids, my 3 year old had a great time in the play area and on the kid rides in Bernie's barnyard. Was also impressed by the circus this year, it's nice to check out a short show after walking for hours, the quick change and acrobat acts were well polished and everyone was impressed by the new guy on the unicycles.

june towne

Had a blast with the grandkids. The campground wad very nice. It was within walking distance of the park. There was also a trolley back and forth.

Gabrielle Smithman

A great amusement park for families and friends. I recommend going during the week, or during the Iowa State Fair, as it's less busy at those times. If you like thrill rides, The Monster is the best!

MARCUS BIDDLE

A lot of parking handicap accessible nice employee's and fun atmosphere

Barnabas Eggers

Pretty good few screaming children on rides (by that I mean rides like the fares wheel which shouldn't be screaming children on them) but one guy had to get off a ride due to his size on a specific two seat ride who was big enough just for himself but they had the whole regulations that you must be two seated so he had to get off so that was disappointing but besides that I enjoyed the park, I understand regulations but still... also shout out to the guys saying (I'm a Yelp reviewer) there where also alot of young kids without parental supervision do with that information as you will

Jered Sturgill

I enjoyed myself but being from NC where there's Paramount Carowinds there's just no comparison. Alot of rides and chair lift were out of commission. Food prices for a theme park were reasonable though and my son loved the water park.

David R. Hayes

Had a GREAT time with the exception of rides i.e. the Sky Lift & the Storm Chaser being shut down. Other than that, it was an excellent day at the park as usual!

Christine Edwards

We had fun. Needs some more action in the shop areas. Not all rides open. Kid running cash register at Blue Bunny Ice cream shop was rude. Feeding fish shouldn't cost.

Natalie Miller

Had a day full of so much fun. Only advice is don't always trust the workers. One said the water park closed at 7, but come to find out it was 5 and we didnt have much time there.

Matthew P.

A good sized theme park for the price. Definitely go on a weekday for more time to enjoy rides and attractions. Family enjoyed the new roller coasters but were disappointed that some older favorites were closed down (sky ride & underground). Piece of advice. Get there at open and head for the water park. Do that until you are hungry then change go to the car, eat a lunch you packed then ride the rides near the front. Around 6 head to the back of the park to catch those rides.

Megan Downing

Had a great time! We went to the theme park only not the water park. The park is kept very clean, and everyone working there was nice. Our only disappointment was that for some reason the Tornado rollercoaster was closed, so missed getting to ride on the famous coaster I remember from way back.

Tara Gregg

I have been coming here since I was a kid. I'm really glad they've been updating the park the last few years, because for a while it was pretty boring. Love all the changes they're making and still enjoy spending the day there as an adult.

Chris Beasley

Love this place compared to some of the other big amusement parks. The kids really enjoy it too. The water park is one of the tops! Will always come back for more family fun.

Robert Smith

This park has a lot of fun activities for kids of all ages. The water park and roller coasters were great! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Christina Mether

Our girls are 7 & 8. They loved every min. Of our day here except when we had to leave the pool;)

Matt Clark

Went early on a cloudy Sunday. Place was nearly empty until noon. Best bang for your buck food is the ice cream at the Blue Bunny store near the carousel!

Mr. Xavier

Not too costly for a full day of fun. The polls with the bases on them are really cool and the rides are pretty okay. The Monster is worth the wait and the Phoenix was so much fun. Be sure to thank your ride operators! They are people too who spend all day watching other people have fun in the heat of the day. I would absolutely go back.

Hannah H

Adventureland is such a great amusement park. The workers are always kind and the rides are spectacular. This is a great place to go in Iowa and definitely worth the drive if you are far. It is pretty central in Iowa so everyone can go and the waits really aren't bad. I would recommend buying your tickets online though because you can usually save a little money and you don't have to wait in line for tickets. This is always a plus because you get to spend more time enjoying rides. Just know that if you have a bag, you have to get it checked.

Joshua DeGroot

We decided to go on a Tuesday, which ended up being a good idea. Only waited in one line the whole day. I think 3 of the rides were closed due to maintenance. This could be a good thing or bad depending on how you look at it. Yes, maintenance was being done. Hopefully ensuring a safe ride for years to come. On one hand there isn't a lot of rides, so it is disappointing that three were closed at the same time. It is good to see that the park is adding new rides from the last time I was there. Price seems a little high for what you get especially since you also have to pay to park. I think I speak for a lot of people when I saw beware of the wooden coasters. They are a pretty ruff ride. I think I had whip lass for a week after.

David Couch

This park is really great! It's a great way to beat the heat after starting the day at the amusement park. And it shuts down before the amusement park giving time for a few rides on the way out :) As a water park, it really does have everything. Lazy river, poolside bar. Slides with and without inner tubes. Crazy drop slides. Toilet bowl slides. Water fall slides. Oh and the wave pool is great and the obstacle course and kiddie pirate play area. A super great time for family fun. If you do rent tubes for the lazy river and wave pool, know that they are not allowed in all pools (The bar). Also keep an eye on your tube if you want your deposit back. It seems kids and some adults are not aware there is a rental fee and will take them if they think you're not using yours.

Rob Gross

The entrance to this park is modelled on Disneyland, but I think better - it has a late Victorian-era Midwest small-town feel to it. There are trees, flowers and beautiful landscaping throughout the park. There are many rides for all ages and the park was generally clean, although some of the rides need some cleaning and touch up paint. The lockers for rent are very small, far to small to be practical. We were surprised to have to pay for parking $10 per car, and we had two cars full of kids. Lots of shade trees and benches, but the park is a maze with no direct route anywhere or signs giving directions, so lots of walking. A few of the restaurants, particularly the ice cream shop on the town square, needed cleaning. The water park had lots of stuff to do and was very clean, especially considering how crowded it was. Although the water park had no changing rooms, everyone used toilet stalls to change?!? That is unacceptable! Lots of places to eat and drink (including alcohol) all over the park, but I would say the food was mediocre at best and overpriced. The beer garden had a great selection of German beers. Overall we had a great impression of this park - family friendly, clean, and lots to do. We will be back!

Shawn Neat

Rides are ok and lines are usually reasonable as long as you avoid early August. Food is mostly overpriced and well south of delicious. The chicken shack at the front of the park is the lone exception to this. The Monster is definitely their best coaster but lines are often long. The water park is nice and lines here are usually not bad either. I would go far more often if I didn't have to walk through the whole park to get to the water park. Don't waste your time getting there when they open. The staff for some reason does not park people who get there first at the front. Its beyond stupid. I've had a season pass for 4 years now, maybe more and it's been the same way every year. Bring bottled water if you have kids because water fountains are sparse at best. Water rides are few in the park, lines are very long and they got rid of the best water ride they had a couple years ago. Hope any of this helps.

Shamieka Ward

3 rides were down and they don't tell you before you pay and 1 ride broke down while at the park so it would have been nice to get a discount on the admission since all of the rides are not working and the 3 best rides at that or at least let people know the rides are not working so we have the choice to pay or leave

Clay Hollenback

Fun place for kids. They are updating older rides and adding new ones... sadly they can't seem to keep them open.

Austin Wells

Parts of it were just like I remembered it from when I was a kid, but also big improvements as well. The water park is fantastic, but whoever designed its location was clearly on drugs. Who wants to drag their suits and towels all the way through the park to get to the water part? There should be a separate entrance for the water park, or at least a tram to get from the front gate to the water park. Also, Adventureland should join the rest of the civilized world and allow scanning tickets off a phone and being able to bring food into the park.

Jeffrey Bair

Very disappointed. Paid good money and so many of the big rides were closed - The Dragon, Sidewinder, Galleon, The Phoenix, and Splash Over were all closed. We are from out of town visiting family and make it a point to visit Adventureland each year, but can say this will probably be the last time.

Jackie Myers

My 2 daughter's went here and waisted 100 dollars because this park doesn't accommodate over weight people I know they could cause other amusement parks do I feel they really should look into it considering so many people are overweight and should be able to have a fun day also

Mr.

IX Stripes

Great Place. A little pricey. Wish there were a few more kid friendly rides. Many from when I was a kid no longer exist. Employees are super nice and friendly. No straws or plastic lids for drinks purchased on site. So bring your own....?

Brittany Koch

Very pleased. Went on a Monday. It was 90 some degrees and the waterpark kept us cool. There were minimal waits for rides. Snacks were reasonably priced. The $10 cup with $2 refills don't hold much at all. Overall our kids ages 15 to 1 all had a good time.

Norman Robinson

Had fantastic day. Good clean ,well run park, plus no ques for rides which really helps

Brett Svoboda

Great amusement park and amazing water park all for 1 price. Family friendly with rides for kiddos throughout park so families don't have to separate

S. Abdul

Folksy, delightfully tacky, with the sorta rugged goodness that only a family owned, hometown built amusement park can give you. OH YES, they also happen to have a world-class looping coaster and let you walk in their lazy river with your beer. Nuff said

Mary Ann Nielson

Enjoyed all the new rides. Miss some of the old rides. Good vacation spot for our granddaughter.

Jason Straight

In the summer get to park when it opens. Go to waterpark right away. Spend half day there. By afternoon most people will want to be in waterpark. Go do reat of park later afternoon into evening. This will get you the most reasonable wait times

Natalie Cheadle

I luv this park! This place is clean, lines are short and fast, rides are good, and food is amazing! I recommend the mini donuts!

Trevor Nielsen

Great little theme park to visit in the Midwest. Although their selection of big coasters and rides isn't all that big, the lines generally aren't that long, the rides are great fun, and just the atmosphere of the whole park is great overall. Large selection of food vendors to choose from and rides for all ages. Everything about the park is great just the admission price is a tad bit high.

Rhonda Vest

I love Adventure Land. The park is always clean and the workers are very friendly.

Timothy Spencer

Bought season passes and went approximately 15 times! Well worth the money! Food and water is over priced but if you picnic outside the gate and bring your own water, it's cheap! Its fun to go with the older kids so I can ride the rides with them! It's also fun to go with the smaller ones because I can watch them have fun to, and many of the rides I can join them on. The Magic Show is amazing! 3 different shows throughout the day, and I've seen them each multiple times! The circus was just ok, only because they only have 1 show they put on multiple times a day and it doesn't change throughout the summer. I dont recommend the wave park if you have multiple little kids and no other adult supervision. You have to have laser focus on your small ones. However for the older ones it's a blast and they do have a smaller more little kid friendly play areas at the water park! If you are a veteran and buy a single day pass you get $10 off per ticket. Season passes are well worth it if you go over 3 times, let's just say I robbed adventureland this year!

Linda Spillers

Had a wonderful time, it cost me 50. Dollars for a wheel chair never have paid that much for one before and I've been to a lot of places the state fair Oklahoma city, Dallas state fair, but I guess Adventureland think there park is really big seen everything in about 4 hrs.

Hannah H

Great park to see from the outside. Went there opening weekend and unfortunately had the park closed due to inclimate weather. Gives me a reason to come back!

Angela Crawley

We spent over $500 on this place just for it to storm and they closed the park down which is understandable, but we lost half the day at the park and couldn't get reimbursed for half the day nothing. My sister bought an Adventureland money card and had over $100 on it and when they closed the park they told her she had to spend all of it or lose it. They wouldn't even give her her money back off the card. They didn't get to ride any of the rides because we went to the water park first and then it started storming.

Angela Blake

Love sharing life with family and friends. Always a great place to do that. Lines are long on weekends but peaceful during the week.

Kelly Brinkman

The only downside that i can think of, is you have to walk through the whole park to get to the water park. Other than that, clean, nice staff, fairly priced food, fun rides. I give it 4 stars

Thomas Siedlik

A good variety of rides & attractions. Our daughter loved it. But my wife and I thought that some of the maintenance was a bit dated, the water in the lazy river was funky, and we were taken back by the number adult patrons drinking heavily. Maintaining a large park that receives that many people has to be tough and the park can't help that their patrons partake a little too much. So if you don't mind your children witnessing visibly intoxicated people while waiting in long lines then this place is okay.

Joshua DeGroot

Great place to bring the kids, the new kid's farm section alone could entertain them all day. Expensive food and drink inside the park. Smoke-Free, and, according to their website, vape-free beginning next year.

shawn behrends

Had them air brush me a hot two years ago. They have really good personal pans of pizza! Specifically the buffalo chicken.

Christine Young

Spent the entire day in Adventure Bay (Adventureland's water park). Even though it was an extremely hot day (heat index over 100), the lines weren't very long and there was plenty of pool room. Very nice water park!

Troyce Mitchell

So my family and I (6 total) just got to Adventureland around 4pm. We were able to ride two rides total before the storm hit. Once the storm had hit, the person that was working at the new ride of the Phoenix informed us that they are closing. I replied for the night. They replied yes as he asked someone that was in the food truck. My family and I went up to the front where we had asked two other employees if the park was closing for the night. They both said yes. So my family and I went and got some dinner. After eating dinner we notice that the rides were going again. So I called the front desk office ticket booth and they told me to contact Ross. So I am waiting for a response back. Worst time being here for our very first time. Hope they can make it better for our family.

Julie Morgan

I love this park! I've been going here since I was little with my family and over the last few years they have only gotten better. They've added a couple new roller coasters and it's very family-friendly. It's a very easy-going laid-back Park it doesn't feel like the hectic craziness of Six Flags or other Parks like it. They also have a couple places with decent Imports and craft beers. Be careful if you buy the month that you can get refills on though to note the time that they stop selling beer because we bought one and then ended up going back and all the beer places were closed at like 8 p.m. :-( all in all though this park is great for an affordable price and you can stay affordably across the street at Motel 6 or at the inn that's actually on the property

Teofilo Garay

We rented a "Blue" Cabana. The location was great with immediate access to the lazy river. The tube rental is $5 ($3 deposit) $2 back when you return it if you are not a season pass holder. Food was good. The cabanas have a safe, a fridge, plenty of chairs and table. There are more expensive ones (w/TVs, setup and location) but we thought the "Blue" Cabanas were great. Would definitely consider doing it again next year!

Jordan Eller

Way too small of park to support a weekend crowd. Waited 6 hours to ride 2 rides. Don't ever go on a weekend. Only reason they get 2 stars is that the toddler area was great. One way in and out with lots of seating for the parents to let the kids stretch their legs. Had staff at the exit of that area as well for extra safty and a concession stand there as well.

TenderGranny

My family usually gets season passes because we live so close, the passes are very well priced in our opinion. Its definitely not Disney Land but it's still very enjoyable for the whole family. The only downside is that it's obvious that some of the workers are tired and bored

Brooke Zollman

The park was very clean and a lot of nice decorations have been added to help make it look a lot nicer. As well as new rides every year, good job to the owners for continuing new attractions it definitely helps bring in more crowds. Delta with several park workers and not one of them was rude or had a bad attitude so very excellent customer service on their part! Very satisfied with our visit yesterday, will definitely keep going back. Customer since 2000 :)

Michael Huffman

I went with my daughter and grandchildren, I really enjoyed watching The Young Ones on the rides. There's a nice mix of rides for adults and children. I don't like the layout, you have to go from one end of the park to the other and then back to the exit.

Stephanie Bain

Lots of fun. The rides are lot of fun. The lines where fast. The shows are very good. We had lots of fun at the big top.

Randy Ducharme

Great place very enjoyable rides but make sure you bring lunch and eat out side the park and the same with drinks the parks food was so expensive, a cheese burger for 5.50! Like what and a drink for 3 dollars and to get a refill it was also 3dollars like come on man, but again the rides and my person fav the water park are very enjoyable!

Julie Woodhouse

Always a great family vacation. Unfortunately the day we went was the hottest day of July, 2019. But plenaty of places to cool off. 4 stars instead of 5 because we could not get iced water from vendors, where in past visits we could. One would hope they would have more cooling/water stations due to excessive heat.

Abbie Lanhart

Amazing Employees. Only flaw was there isn’t very many things to do with a toddler. The food is amazing especially the funnel cakes! The water park was a blast

Ryssa Smith

I really enjoyed my time at the park, my only hang up would be the lack of adult only pool areas. At the very least, the swim up bar pool area should be adult only. Otherwise I have no complaints!

Tricia Rooney

This is a great kid friendly park. I was worried that there wouldn't be much for my 3 and 18month old to do, but there were many rides for my 3 year old and a surprising amount for my 18month old. There is also a large selection of rides for adults and thrill seekers. We stayed at the adjoining adventureland campground and it was also very nice! Large campsite with a nice view of the amusement park. Very friendly staff. We will definitely visit again!

Constance King

We love it here! 4th year in a row- clean, fun rides, great beer and great staff- we love this place!

izzy

Fun for everyone but wear longer pants walking this big park gives you chub rub

Amanda Lee

Quite a bit of fun could be had. Tornado is old and jars you a lot. Today a few of our favorites we're shut down. Raging River is the most poorly managed. Always takes forever. Usually an hour wait. There are two stalls, but only one ever in use. There should be exiting and entering in both stalls. Also, there are 5 employees over here, and they all stopped while they decided if a little kid was big enough or not. Definitely not worth the wait. Monster is scary but smooth riding!

Michael Schmidt

BRAG ALERT!! I worked at Adventureland when it first opened in 1974. Back then, the park was little more than Main Street and the variety of rides was sparse. But I am happy to report that the park has grown...and grown...and grown with something for everyone of every age. Plenty of food, drinks and treats to make any kid grab a tummy at day's end. Bring sunscreen and take your time. Oh... My only complaint is that it is easy to lose you car once you're parked. A lot map would be helpful or a shuttle. Good chance to check out the car finder on your keys.

Matt Krug

For an older park, it is really well maintained. In fact, it's been in the same condition for the last 40 years. New rides are outstanding. Classic rides appear new. Staff is helpful and even though it was busy, lines moved along quickly. Good value for the $$. Craft beer tent is a nice addition to the park.

Jack Davis

Pretty cool theme park. If you're on a budget, this is a good park to pick. I like that you don't have to pay extra for the water park. Parking is only $10. The roller coaster rides are great. The wave pool is cool, but not amazing. The water slides are very cool. Definitely do them. The lazy river has no tubes for it unless you rent one for a day. Who does that? Every park I've been to has tubes, a few allow you to rent tubes if you want. The food is reasonably priced when compared to other theme parks.

Josh D

Always fun. Only gripe I had this trip was food service employees were charging soda price for refills on ice and tap water even though tap water was advertised at 50 cents. Paid the unusual cost of a dollar soda refill to avoid causing the the line to wait for a manager to discuss the pricing of tap water. Other drink vendors charged correctly, for tap water. The $10 souvenir cup comes with $1 refills on fountain drinks, so over a long period it saves money on drinks. But if tap water is priced at 50 cents and you're charging full soda price on tap water simply because I have "the cup", the premium souvenir drink cup. That was weird to me. Lost more money on dumber stuff, just dealt with it. I'm used to free water, not to mention they have free water filling points in the park in various spots (lacking the ice option), the premium on a half a cup of ice is 50 cents to a dollar. I hope the CEO sleeps good tonight. At least I was hydrated.

Freanziedmass

The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because there is no theme. No wandering characters. No random performances (there is a magic show and a circus).

Kyle Hamilton

It's so great guys I loved it. lines take too much of your time there but it's still really fun!

Daniella Henry

It was fun going to adventureland, food was good but ride maintenance needs work. The water park was exemplary.

Lynette James

Very clean and has a huge selection of rides for pretty much all ages. My granddaughter loved the pool and splash pad!

Toriel Dreemurr

(I haven't been on the swimming side, so this review is for the park side only). This place is amazing! The rides are spectacular but a good type of scary at the same time. Normally, when you walk by the huge roller coaster, you can hear people screaming! Also, the kettle corn here is SOOO good! The kettle corn is the best popcorn ever! Thanks, Adventureland!

Kris Stoner

Adventureland, a great family fun stop! They have beer gardens now (since I last visited many years ago). Newer rides like The Monster (totally the best rollercoaster there). Also an adjoined water park. If going to the water park make sure to wear a swim suit, the won't let you use it without one.

Jason

Haven't been here in 20 years. Brought back great memories. We had a great time! First park for our 2 year old. Lots of fun rides for him.

Ian Dielschneider

After being away for more than a decade I was impressed with the investments and improvements that have been made. Friendly staff and reasonable food and drink prices! Great new rides and not overly crowded on a Sunday. I was blown away by the water park that was added since I was last there. Rental lockers are available to keep your valuables while you're out in the wave pools and waterslides.

Aaron Fisk

Overall excited to be here! Food and Drink every where all staff are friendly and helpful. Food is decent, price... Well price is what it is. All rides a blast once thru the line. :) Overall great experience!

jessica sullivan

Pleasant staff(except one woman) very clean and we had an amazing day. Love the addition of the water park but wish the roller coaster rides stated you needed shorts to ride (my daughter had a swimsuit on and was not allowed on rides but the signs only said shirt and shoes required)

Stacey Pearce

Ugh were do I even start! Friendly Staff everywhere including life guards. It was my first time there and it was amazing. Highly recommend this place if you want to have fun.

Kirk Peterson

A surprise of a park...but for the money make sure you have enough time. $45/adult is high for this sized park. Good to very good coasters.

Winterglory Aj

I had a very fun time! Great place for families! There is something for the little ones and for the big kids/adults. 100% will be going back next year.

Susan Holeton

Love going to Adventureland. . My stomach loved it less this year.

Ryan T. LEE

Great day! It's like a less crowded Disney world! Rides were awesome. Water park was awesome. Kept every one (kids ages 1, 6, 8 & 10) having fun from 11 am -6 pm.

Chelo Bob

Great family fun...high priced$$$ but worth it ....So much to do!!! We arrived after lunch & stayed until closing & didnt get through it all. Enjoyed the mini circus & magic show. The hot July heat made the water park a MUST (wave pool a favorite). The kids loved it ALL. We will definitely be going back next summer. I would consider a weekday though since the weekend was super packed!

Edwin Hinton

A great time for families and all ages. Good food selections. Water park is fun.

William Lu

I haven't been to adventureland in over 16 years. It was pretty how I remembered it which is good, and bad. The older coasters were showing their age, and the dragon wasn't even working. The new monster coaster was awesome, and that alone was worth going for. My kids liked the smaller rides, and it was nice watching them have fun. We'll be going back as the years go by.

Matt wise

Fun and entertaining. Clean and well maintained. A little pricey $45 per person plus $10 for parking. But everyone had a great time. Will do it again.

Thomas Swyers

The Monster is a great new coaster addition. Good starter park but many rides are old and dated.

Jay

The park is clean and there’s lots of rides and a water park included in the price but the staff are very rude. They need to realize there will be busy days and families are here for a good time not to be talked to disrespectfully.

Cat Prusia

Still the best amusement park for the money anywhere. The staff is great and the park is so clean!! Tons of things to do for every age!!!

Jennifer Long

Nice place to go. Several rides were shut down. Very friendly staff!! We had a BLAST!!

Davis Dawson

For Iowa it's definetly a good place, but compared internationally or among other states the rides are rather rough and boring. The water park is very lackluster as well, yet the time is spent with friends and makes good memories. And what rate can you really give warm memories?

Katie Mulera

We had a great time at Adventureland. We arrived early to get a nice parking spot. I had read in other reviews to arrive early and I would second that because the lines were not as long in the morning when they open, but they get longer as the day goes on. We tried a few different places to eat, but our favorite would be the Adventureland Gulch Foods. They are located right outside the water park area, near the circus entrance. We had the cheeseburger, curly fries, and chicken boneless wings for $13.25. The burger was a bit dry, but the fries and chicken were fine. We also tried food from the WOK’N & ROLL’N food truck right outside of the Phoenix ride. The Funnel cake was not like a normal funnel cake, my son did not like it and I couldn’t eat it either. The Monster was the only roller coaster that had a picture during the ride. In the water park, the kid area had the coldest water. The pizza and cookie we bought in the water park was not that great. The wave pool was fun. We brought two water bottle with us and filled them up in the park, that worked well. The circus performance was nice to watch, but the music was a bit loud. The bumper cars were fun. The park looked beautiful at night with all of the lights on the rides.

Russell Shield

Park did not have all the lanes open look like they cut back on employees! Adventure land inn gave us 2 rooms with black mold! When showed they up graded us to newly remodeled rooms. The only thing that was great at the sports bar was the prices and by the way the adventure land inn does not give discounts for AAA or AARP !!

Krystal Schuiteman

I loved the rides, stuffed animals and food you can buy. The food, drinks and rides were awesome! Remember to ride the rides after your stomach completely digests unless you want to use the restroom.

optimist optimist

It's filled with fun and laughter. My concerns are the prices for a bottle of water. $2.75 @ the vending machines & $2.50 @ the shops. That's is unbelievable.

Jazmin Torres

Very fun and exciting place. It has so many fun things that anyone can enjoy.

M Nemmers

Good stuff now if the help valued us as much as their phone we would be all set!!!!

Linda Ràhn

Love Adventure Land!!! Great rides. Good food. Great way to spend a weekend with your family ❤❤❤

sarah larson

This place is WAY too expensive. Valley fair in Minnesota costs $35 for a day pass, as well as World's of Fun. Hershey park in Pennsylvania is $33. This park is not big enough, or exciting enough to charge such a high fee for a less than mediocre place. Save the money, and leave Iowa for A GOOD theme park experience.

Cindy wheeler

It has a decent amount of thrill rides all the way down to small kiddie rides. I especially enjoyed the kiddie area for my twin 2year olds. Lots of food places to choose from. Almost need 2 days to enjoy everything.

Jason Bailey

First time! Very friendly staff! Didn't have to wait in long lines and the kids were able to ride the rides several times without getting off and going through lines. Kept a cooler in the car and went back to the car a few times to save money on snacks. Reminded me of a smaller Disneyland.

Jim Ganal

We had a really fun time. We went on the raging river, the teacups, some pirate ship ride several other rides, the circus and the water park. We had pizza and breadsticks for lunch. The food was amazing. Thank you Adventureland park for having us here!

Craig K

Great place for families of all ages! Yummy food! Fun rides! Very Clean!

Pamela Mauro

My children had a blast. It was their first time. One last fun trip before back to school

Andrew Goodall

This is at least a yearly trip for us!! Always clean and everything is very well taken care of! The last couple years they have a done a great job reinvesting in the park and adding new rides, better landscaping, awesome water park. Don’t hesitate to come here with your family of any size.

JC McManus

The park is in a good location; easily accessible from the interstate. There are plenty of rides with enough variety for those who seek thrills and those who don't, plus options for small children. The new additions are good, but I miss the Log Ride! The prices are a bit on the high side for what you get, but not so high that they're unaffordable. There's food and beverage choices for all tastes, and places to sit in the shade, but there needs to be additional restrooms. The water park is a fun and great addition, especially on the hot days.

Liz Tarr

I've loved Adventureland since I was little. I still get mad over the log ride being gone as my family is more about fun, casual rides vs thrill seeking roller coasters. They really need to double up their $ and get an entrance by the water park and do a ocean of fun/worlds of fun concept as they'd make alot more and we would probably frequent more often.

Morgan Collins

Mostly of their staff is awesome, and they have amazing rides for all ages. My baby cousin had an amazing time. Great place for an annual vacation!

Ann Hypes

We had a blast reconnecting with family and celebrating our Mom and Dad's anniversary that have passed

Sean Steele

I've been going to A-land for years. They always do a good job keeping everything clean and running. The park is showing its age and could use some fan/misters on the really hot days but it's always fun. I want to make special note of the magic show. That guy has been there for as long as I can remember. He always has a great show and changes it a little bit each year. This year he is doing three completely different shows twice a day each. The shows are free and the theater is air conditioned. Go take in a show and let him know we appreciate his work.

Katie Minor

Great place! Lots of fun and tons to do. Only downside is price. One stand was going to charge me 1.00 just for a straw after paying for the drink(with no refills). They also really need more changing rooms for women at adventure bay. But employees were nice and park was clean.

WES ENGBRECHT

Oktoberfest was great. Worth going every year

Arthur Fratelli

Fantastic circus act, amazing magic, hilarious juggler don't miss any of their acts. Also, the park is wicked cool. Very clean, nice staff. Fun way to spend the day.

Racy Halterman

Such a fun place. I've been going since I was like, 6. Great way to get out in the sun, swim, ride on rides, relax, and get exercise.

Daniel Neal

It's a really good place to grab a corn dog. Reasonable prices. Where else could you get a foot long dog for 7 bucks???? Maybe a lot of places. But a Hamm's in the dirt? 1 place. And that's Adventureland. God bless.

Chet McBride

Had a wonderful time at the park with my kids and wife. The water park is great on those hot days with plenty of things to do for everyone. When cools down there is plenty of rides and attractions to keep you busy.

Kinshasa Campbell

Of course everything is super expensive. 2 slices of pizza and 2 20oz drinks was $25. But my kid's had a fun day so it was worth it.

Rachel Saylor

This is a very nice, clean park. I've been going since the 80's, and finally got to share it with my kids. Lots of the same rides I remember, all in good condition. They've also added a lot of new, modern rides. We started on Friday, with short lines and easily made our way around. Saturday was much busier, but still short lines. My 3 and 6 year old loved it, as well as my 40 year old husband, who had never been. Lots of good food, and super friendly and helpful staff. Games are pretty pricey, but plenty of other things to do. Definitely a great way to spend a day or two. We didn't go to the waterpark.

Cheryl Wood

Such a fun thing for all ages! We spent two days at the park with our kids and could've done one more! This year we did rides, games, and shows, but gabe also done a day at the water park as well. This is an annual tradition for our extended family. We camp at the adjacent camp site and spend a few days at the park.

April Gravert

The kids had alot of fun. The park is the perfect size. The food was good and reasonable. The lines weren't long at all. The park was clean. The attendants for the rides were so friendly. They all interacted with the kids and had a smile for anyone who walked up. Tons of rides for younger kids. The kids loved the barnyard play ground area.

Jonathan Luis

Turkey leg, although pretty pricey for the leg and a small side of mashed potatoes and gravy, although not all rides were open lines were fairly short. The longest line was for the ride "The Monster" which was a bit to much for myself but doable for someone who is not very fond of rollercoasters.

Scott Millard

Lots of ride options along with food opportunities. Circus was fun. Needs some paint on different rides, etc but that is being picky.

Clayton Dryden

Great price point, lots of variety, one of Iowa's best attractions. (The monster is the best ride by leaps and bounds)

Nathan Templeton

It's a fun park in Iowa. It was pretty fun.. Nothing like Six Flags but close.. Food sucks.. so pack a cooler.

Sean Davenport

When I first walked up to the gates, I could not believe my eyes. Disneyland. The entrance looks just like Disneyland did many years ago...even the train station and main Street mimic Disneyland. The ice cream parlor is very close to the Carnation ice cream parlor. Many items through the park also resemble the old days of Disney. This is a wonderful park and unbelievably inexpensive. This is a true gem of Iowa! The only sad part is people vandalize the park by writing on walls... Adventureland need to get control of this. They have a magic show that runs throughout the day, it is a top notch act. There are three different shows played multiple times. It is well worth the time! Very well done!

Aysica Morrow

It's very kid friendly and they have rides for all ages

Brian Gray

Fun time today some new rides, missing a couple of my childhood favorites. Park looks essentially the same as 40 years ago, brought back alot of childhood memories

Aileen Hunnell

Lots of options to do! Ride rides, play arcade games, see a magic show & enjoy their large water park as well. Highly recommend going!

Larry Stone

Rides were fun, lines were not long. Would have rated it a 5 but the funnel cake and barbecue food stop was horrible, out of straws, lids, forks and every ingredient for funnel cakes that they advertised. Manager strangely made weird excuses like "blame California and their policies" all while we were in Iowa. He has no business managing a food facility. Completely dissatisfied.

Ricky Oldham

Great little theme park! For anyone from Missouri or Kansas familiar with Worlds of Fun, this is like a miniature version. It has some older wooden and steel coasters but has 2 new coasters from this year and I believe like 4 years ago. We visited on a Thursday after 1pm and the crowds were pretty low and didn't wait more than 15 minutes for the rides we went on. Also, check out the magic show at Sam Adams saloon!

Allie Spann

Great park for little kids! We have a 6, 5, 2 and 3 month old and everyone had a great time! Be sure to bring your puddle jumpers for the kids at the water park! My suggestion is go back to the waterpark first, that way kids come dressed in swimsuits making it easier upon arrival. They can easily stay cool while drying off after having fun in the water and ride all the kiddy rides after!

Jim Clements

I really like the park. It's a fun place to visit, and the truth is that you'll have a good time. It's a bit pricey, but then again, it's a ton cheaper than Disney world and I'm a Midwesterner so it's closer. You do get a little bit of a Disney wannabe vibe if you've ever been to Disney world, but I can't complain. The kids had a blast, and it's a vacation they still talk about months later. Highly recommend!

Rae Gracie

Its was good fun, but VERY VERY EXPENSIVE. Family of 6 280 before you get through the gate. Rides are good. Think its rediculous that the serve beer every place you turn around. Between rides. Near rides. Nothing beat the drunk people puking.

Destery Hildenbrand

We go every year and always have a lot of fun. Great for a day or two trip. They keep adding new rides and the old ones are still a blast. I do miss the log ride but the monster and pheonix are fun.

Brian Jones

We went with another retired couple and we had a wonderful time. The new "Phoenix" wasn't running yet but even in our sixties we still knocked off the Space Shot, The Monster, and many more. The food wasn't as expensive as expected and much tastier than most amusement parks or at least as far as I can remember. Lol. I was pleased to see they hire many different ages and nationalities. And all are so very courteous kind. The only drawback was I wanted Ice Cream around every corner. Overall, We had a great time and very few lines.

Micheal Debevec

Nice little amusement park. Needs more rollercoasters. " The Monster" is a nice addition! Water park is good, but wear sandals or flip flops. The concrete gets hot when the sun beats down on it. Overall a good place to spend the day with family.

Janean Jensen

New rides and the waterpark is amazing. Disappointed they only have a few shows now. The magic show is ok but not spectacular. They used to have some very good entertaining shows (loved the old west saloon show from back in the day). Even without the shows a fun time is worth the trip.

Brandie Webb

A real nice place for our family. Get a season pass for sure if you plan on going more than once a year. We really love the pool area and like to see life guards on staff. Can never have to many! Biggest and to me its a BIG down fall is no access to the water park without walking through the ENTIRE park. And I do mean ENTIRE! The pool area is all the way in the back! They should have ramp parking next door or on lot across the street and this would allow easy access to the pool area. Would also like to see less drinking Friday and Saturday nights. Some of the young people seem to get pretty drunk. Hoping this summer will be different!

Londa Vandegriend

We always have a great time at Adventureland. Love that there is a water park for all ages. Don't like that you have to rent a tube for the lazy river if you want one. We also enjoy the shows: magician, juggler, circus, hypnotist. So much to do there and a lot of rides for all ages.

Douglas Collyer

It's pretty cool but the carnival games are rigged, and that new Chinese ride is kinda ehhh

Kate Konkler

I’ve been coming to this park since I was little and try to come every summer but the park is really starting to look run down. Still a great atmosphere. The waterpark is okay but it’s no lost island. The water is murky and the guards don’t always look vigilant.
