REVIEWS OF The Children's Museum of Indianapolis IN Indiana

Jordan Ehrman

Great place for the whole family! They really do have something that everyone can enjoy all the way from adults even down to a sensory area for babies. Excellent place to go if you are looking for a fun day!

Brian Blank

Expensive ($100 for family of 4). The indoor museum is tough for kids under 5. Only area is 4th floor which is a great area, but fairly small. The other floors have a lot of look but don't touch exhibits. The carousel was great!

Marian Martin

We drove from Louisville and it was absolutely worth it. We went on a Saturday and it wasn't super busy. Not long waits to enjoy attractions. I had a three year old and five month old. Overall stroller friendly and easy to navigate. Not enough can be said to explain the outdoor space and how awesome it is.

Cory Longenecker

I wish we lived closer! Amazing place. Flat out amazing.

Jacob R

We went as a couple of DINKs, and had a great time. Of course it's important to remember that this is a place primarily for children, so we were careful to always yield to their enthusiasm and discovery. That aside, it was a lot of fun. The exhibits are moving, informative, and educational. Adults will probably enjoy the pop culture, and the ancient Greece exhibit that's currently there. be sure to buy tickets a few weeks in advance that you can get the best price-- buying the day of is not recommended because it will be the most expensive

Steven Caudill

We are from Cincinnati, and have grown to understand that locally not much can match places like Kings Island, Cincinnati Zoo, or the Museum Center at Union Terminal. It's easy to be disappointed when starting out a trip by comparing locations to Cincinnati's best. Regardless, this place is pretty nice. Nice and clean, everyone was friendly, and the kids had a blast. The food was a little expensive but the selection was decent and the food was actually better than most of the similar places I've been. But making up cost, we went on the first Thursday of the month so tickets were only $4. We didn't get to check out the space exhibits and wanted to spend more time in the dinosaurs. My 2 youngest had a blast in the Paw Patrol area, the bigger two were just starting to find their interests as closing time hit. We will most definatly be going back. It's about 4 hrs of driving but counting gas, food, tickets and gift shop, its well worth $150-$175 especially after seeing those toddlers smiling ear to ear. Keep up the great work, Indy!

Best children's museum in the country -- possibly the world. Plan your trip in advance if you can. For the past couple of years now, you can get better prices on the website if you buy tickets ahead of time. Look at the activities calendar the night before and choose 2 or 3 interactive experiences you want to do. They always start right on time and rarely last longer than 20 minutes. Allow plenty of free time for kids to learn and discover. The food is just okay, but there are lots of family friendly options. Don't forget to stop by the sports experience! They offer extended hours on certain days, so check that out before you go too.

River Lule

Fantastic place, one can spend the entire day here with their child. Many activities and events going on. Parking garage is very convenient. Very curious about their preschool. Such a great concept to have a preschool within a children's museum.

Kelly Senn

There is absolutely no excuse to not take your kids or even as adults go to the museum! My son has autism and likes to frequent the same places. He is so stimulated and happy at the museum…The staff is incredible. The exhibits are Educational as well as interesting. There are shows in the planetarium, Check out the times before you go to in sure you don’t miss it!

Nathan Marcus Smith

Four levels of fun and an outdoor sports Park area with every sport. Totally recommend this to any and all families with children visiting Indianapolis this is a must-see. Our favorite exhibits are the dinosaurs and the outside Sports Park

Matthew Conley

Amazing for adults much more for children. So much to learn about but then you have so much fun with the kids they don't realize they are learning. Great outdoor play arena for parents and kids to play sports, climb tree house's, and race around the track!!

Rob Acton

Great place for kids and adults. I love the new outdoor area. The food is really good too, but pricey. The membership has proven to be well worth it. They change the events regularly and there is so much to see you'll need multiple visits to see it all.

Alexandra Green

This is a wonderful place to bring kids, even younger kids! There is a carousel on the top floor and a large kids area on the third floor that will keep them busy for hours

Matt Douglas

My son loves the museum and my daughter loves the sports park. It worth the 3 hour trip for us. But it gets very busy on the weekends. The parking garage is nice but fills up fast.

A. Branham

The Indy Children’s Museum never disappoints. So much to see and learn. Fun for all ages. Tickets may seem expensive but it’s really worth it. Especially considering how long you can be there and enjoy yourself. Food Court has lots to choose from (though it is pretty expensive. We spent $42 for 2 adults and 2 children and didn’t really get that much food). Definitely check out the outdoor area! Every time we go my children ask to go outside to the tree house (which is pretty incredible)!!!

Brian Mullery

Very well maintained. New sports area is great to get kids outside and moving. Strange approach to pricing as the cost goes up the closer you get, which for out of town visitors makes it cost more for no real reason. Skip the food court and bring your own lunch.

Tanya Ross

The exhibits there were very educational and full of great historical facti. The sports live in part which was outside with also a wonderful exhibit. The museum has five levels of things to do on the inside and then a whole world of things on the outside to explore.

Corey Nelson

Best children's museum in the country hands down. I've been going since I was a kid and now I'm taking my kids. Love the addition of the outdoor sports section.

Sandapaperdaisy Art

Fascinating and full of fun activities. The exhibit that included Ryan White, Ruby Bridges and Anne Frank was incredibly powerful and touching. In addition you can travel to strange and fascinating places, roar with the dinosaurs, and find out the inner workings of our own nation's waterways.

Tomi Ostendorf

BUY ONLINE IN ADVANCE TO SAVE. Holy smokes, One day is not enough... Just barely to see it all, if you get your walking shoes on This place is amazing!!!! It was pretty expensive for our family of 7... Around 25+ per person. Well done. You can bring your own food and also can buy it there.

Brian Baldwin

What an outstanding museum. Glad we got the membership instead of just tickets. Started at 11:30 and ended at 5:30 and still didn't see everything. Highly recommend!!

Reese Rosenow

A great place to hang out. Tons of stuff to do for all ages. The sports complex is amazing.

Daniel Ulanicki

Incredible. Wow, enough different activities to keep any child engaged for hours. The dinosaur exhibit, though not large, very well done and presents a story. The outdoor sports activity was a very nice surprise. I couldn’t pull my son away.

Heather Day

Another place in Indianapolis where the prices are sky high. Everything from the gift shop, tickets, and the food court. All too high. They try to make up for it with free admission days but it's always so crowded that you can barely move and trying to get somewhere to park is a nightmare. We were sitting in traffic for 2 hours on Martin Luther King Jr. Day for parking. It also doesn't seem to be as fun, entertaining, and exciting as it used to be. My kids range in ages from 5 to 14 and they hate going. They always say it's boring and are ready to leave within the first hour of being there. They do have the new Sports Experience but AGAIN, prices are too high. It's not included with admission. You have to purchase a separate ticket for that of course.

Jennifer Rohe

I've been to many children's museums across the country and this is by far the best. I have been to this museum around three times over the past few years and have had a great time at every visit. There are a few areas that remain the same each visit (dinosaurs, trains, space, etc.) but then there are also new exhibits that change out. This last visit it was warm out so we got to enjoy the outside area for the first time. It is amazing! So many small versions of a variety of sports for the little ones to try out. If I lived close (we live on the west coast) I would definitely have a membership. Don't forget to ask for a military discount if you are eligible.

Andrea Alcauter

We really enjoy this museum. Something new is always coming, and there are things to interest and engage every age. There's a special area especially for 0 to o 5 years, the outdoor space is amazing, we love the seasonal exhibit every holiday season as well. The workers in the exhibit for the underwater cannons were great answering my son's questions and explaining what they are working on, made it understandable and really interesting for him. Definitely worth the membership.

Trish Wicks

The Indy Children's Museum is never a disappointment. We took our 15 month old son and he loved it. They do an excellent job at providing visitors with an interactive learning experience that's enjoyable everyone regardless of age.

Amanda Phillips

It's always so much fun to go to and clean! My little sister loves playing for hours as do i!

Tom Wilson

Always a great place to take the family. Very crowded this Saturday. Paw patrol is here for a few more days. The kids always have a blast here. Food was good here with unlimited refill on soda and tea

David Inman

We've been to children's museums all over the country and this is without a doubt the best one. We spent eight strait hours there, and then five more hours the next week, and we have barely seen over half of what they have to enjoy. I imagine they would be a blast away any time of the year, but I highly recommend visiting when you can enjoy the outside portion as well because it was amazing for the older kids. And if you're wondering, there's tons to do for kids as young as one, so bring the whole family!

Nauman Choudhry

I drove in from Canada not sure what to expect. Overall I thought it was a great place with a well laid out plan. The sports and science area was a hit with my kids. I would definitely recommend it.

David Hornal

Amazing place for kids of all ages. Spend the entire day inside and out. So much to do. The sports area outside is a fantastic addition. Clean and well maintained. The dinosaur area was great and the staff was very helpful. Just go and enjoy.

Matt Rivers

Fun for the kids. They enjoyed paw patrol and the water and sand. The rest is sorta for older kids but if you have 6-12 y.o. kids this would be a great thing to do with them.

Mary Runion

This was sheer joy to walk through and see what we could see. The exhibits are well done and very interactive! I definitely want to spend the whole day next time because there were about 4 exhibits that we didn't get to see. But, we will definitely be back soon!

lucas thompson

Been coming here since I was a kid, and now continuing to bring my son here. It was his first time today and it was amazing seeing him throw himself at each exhibit with excitement and wonder.

Elizabeth Herrington

I've been here twice now, once on their $5 First Thursday event and again today after winning a four pack of tickets at work. Both times were amazing and there is tons of different exhibits for all different ages. I have a 2 and 9 year old that loved both visits. Now we plan on getting membership passes since this is a great place to go in all kinds of weather with kids.

Nikki Sanchez

This place is amazing. My 3yr old went absolutely nuts and has had the best time. The price is a little on the steep side, but maybe if you buy ahead of time it coyld be more reasonable. However, I regret nothing.

Steven Smith

It's an amazing place for children to explore. The museum is huge with many active displays. It's a bit pricey but well worth the expense. Make sure you come early and plan on spending the day unless you do the membership and break it up over more than one day.

Lindsay Becknell

We just left the museum with our 2 yr old and 4 yr old. It was the BEST day! The kids had a blast, and were engaged with every exhibit, never wanting to leave to go to the next. There was tons of hands on things for them to do, and plenty of spots to get excess toddler energy out. The whole museum is clean and well maintained, and even for such a busy day it never felt crowded. I love that you can bring your own food in, as with all places such as these they were a bit pricey. We were there open to close, and just got through it all. We came up here as an experience birthday gift for the kids, and are so very glad we did!!

BigCannon Entertainment

One of the best, Interactive museums we ever been in. The kids as well as us adults love it. On this trip the carousel was down for service. The price was a little high considering we still had to pay extra for the new exhibit

Delray Shaffer

Used to take our son to the CMI over 20 years ago. Today, we took our grandaughter for the first time. Glad to see it is even better than before!

P. Renee Gholson

Children's Museum is always a pleasure. 4 floors of a wide variety of interactive (and temporary) displays from dinosaurs to pop culture to ancient Greece. They're constantly inventing new displays, so it's never exactly the same museum.

Phoenix Crabtree

We had an amazing time. Everyone there was beyond helpful and came with quick response time when we had an emergency that day. Also, my son wears braces on hit feet, so on the peddle cars on the outside track, he struggled with.. the young lady working was the most kind hearted person and stepped in immediately to help him, she made sure he made it all the way back to the finish line. We can't wait to go back.

Kimberly Goodman

In the couple of years since we last visited they have expanded the museum to include outside activities and have made one temporary exhibit permanent. Plus the planetarium was remodeled so it is now a Star Trek exhibit which was cool. Never a dull moment at this museum.

Christine Purdy

So much fun, even for adults. So many interactive sections and great information. The staff were all friendly and even helped us out when one of the little ones in our group hurt themselves. Highly recommend!

Tim Schumm

Such a wonderful museum! Constantly adding new and exciting exhibits. Our girls love going every time.

Bret Ostendorf

A little over priced in my opinion. Yes, big, but we've been to others just as enjoyable for less money. We spent all day here with our 5 kids ages 16 down to 7 and we all had fun. Left to get pizza and came back, but they do have a large food court and you can bring your own food as well.

Roman Rzadkosz

Great place worth it to travel. Kids will have a blast there and the outside sport center is amazing. Highly recommend!!

Daniel Krier

What a fun museum for kids off all ages! Our kids' favorite exhibit was the dinosaurs. Ours was the extremely large play area where they could just be kids and have a blast!

E J

Love this place!! Love taking my little guys there and making awesome memories. It's so fun and the employees are always so sweet.

Pam Perrin

We took my almost 2 year old grandson here. Everyone was entertained and loved it! They had a whole floor of puppy dog pals, which is his favorite TV show.

Chris

We enjoyed our trip to the museum. We were there between Christmas and New Years, so the only issue that we had was finding parking in the garage. The exhibits were great; my favorite being the Chinese exhibit (we were there in 2016) and the train exhibit. My daughter loved the sandboxes! Overall, we would go back if closer to the area.

mark york

An absolutely must do if you have kids. The place is huge with so much to do, you could spend a whole weekend here. The sports areas outside were great (just too bad we went when it was 98 degrees and sunny with no wind). The kids had a blast as did me and the Mrs.

Heather Unrue

Had a lot of really cool experiences for all different interests with good hands on in each exhibit. The price to get in is high, especially with them wanting you to pay again for special exhibits or shows but my daughter had fun!

Phyllis Crow

Absolutely the best place for kids to play - learn. Fun for adults also.. gift shop is great place for teachers to shop for the classroom

Rachel Forman

The kids had fun and got educated at the same time. Love this place. We can't wait to go back!

Rufus Shinra

I got to wear a sticker they gave me for my birthday, which my kids thought was hilarious. All the staff said happy birthday. Also, turns out the sticker gets you free cotton candy(or another small treat of your choice)!! I had a great accidental 27th birthday celebration!

Michelle Reckelhoff

It’s sad how far downhill this museum has gone. We used to love this place, but it seems like maybe there’s not enough funding to go around any more or they aren’t using it to the fullest extent. The exhibits were boring and just not as interactive as they were 5 years or so ago. The whole place seemed dirty and not taken care of. The outside sports area looked very nice, but why would you pay for the children’s museum just to go play outside sports like you could at any park for free? We won’t be returning.

Jasmine Hardin

My family and I literally spent our entire day here until it closed! There is so much to do for everyone, this is my second visit and I was in just as much awe as the first time. We came from Ohio and it was well worth the drive. Concessions is not overly priced, everyone was so friendly and there is so much to do and learn. I'm looking forward to out next visit!

Tyler Crays

Spent 9 hours here and I never went through it all. My daughter loved it and so did my wife. Tons of fun and will be back

Lord Cupcake

The kids love it. Dino Sphere is great. The rotating section is great too. Was there for thr Marvel exhibit and later to the Paw Patrol. Both were good and excited to see the next one. Some exhibits do seem a little old and worn down though. Nothing too bad though.

carlos19mgg

It is a nice museum, but i think my expectations were a little high. It’s supposed to be the largest children’s museum around, but a huge portion of the museum is empty. The quantity of children’s interactive activities was a lower than expected. A lot of the exhibits were donated by the typical sponsors/companies and were kind of dull. The sports area was very nice, and different than other children’s museum. One thing that I felt i was getting nickeled and dined was at the carousel, the general admission ticket cost is high enough. It was only a dollar, but after walking through two floors which were 75 % empty it was a turn off. It was nice, but probably will not return.

Tierra

My babies love the museum, however, if we didn't get discounted admission there's absolutely no way we could ever afford to go and participate in all the exhibits, since they charge extra for random things... It's over $30.00 for an adult, and pretty darn close for a child... This is sad, society is so money hungry, that most kids today can't enjoy the museums....

Billie Bell

It's educational. It's fun. For kids of any age. Has a price that's affordable. Love everything about it. Truly a place you can enjoy.

Vaun's Photography

Very interesting visit with my son and his family. The younger two grandkids loved exploring on their own, their older sister helped watch them. We had to keep a close eye on them. All of us enjoyed different aspects of the museum.

Sindy Love

There's so much for kids to explore and learn. There's also some for adults. The sports experience is great too! I wish it was more guided fun instead of just a free for all in the areas for toddlers. Purchase your tickets two weeks in advance, otherwise the day of is pretty pricey.

Cade Grimm

I would highly recommend you go early because there is a lot to see. You could easily spend an entire day here. We didn't arrive until around 2 so we only had 3 hours and I literally had to drag my 4 year old away from most of the activities in order to see as much as we could. Fortunately he would forget all about the last one when he was immersed in the next.

Matthew Coker

We have been coming to the Children's Museum for about six years. Even today my family still loves it. The exhibits are always changing and the quality doesn't fade. Our favorite is the mirror maze and the Dino Sphere but the outdoor area was a great addition. We also have enjoyed some of the rotating exhibits like Avatar, Santa Winter Wonderland, and Visit China. There is a reason this is listed as the best children's museum in the county, you won't be disappointed.

Lauren Martinez

The dinosaur exhibit is a fan favorite. Be sure to check out the TVs near the exhibits to learn more about each dinosaur on display. Our other favorite is the train exhibit. Make sure to check out how the train got inside and make time to follow all the models on the track. The fireworks gallery is beautiful and is close to the planetarium which offers free shows. We also enjoyed the space exhibit and seeing how the astronauts lived

Khrystyna Prokhorenko

Prepare to spend there the whole entire day! No wonder it claims to the World Largest Childrens Museum! Lots of educational exhibits, along with amusement, entertainment and simply just kids play time all in one place. There is outdoor playground that is dedicated to sport and as well as its history. The outdoor ground closes 2 hours after the musem closing hours. Lots of sports activities for the whole family, we enjoyed playing minute golf with our family. A day well spent with joy, laughter and family time! Highly recommend!

Cathy Miner

We are a sports family. We spent most of the day in the Sports area outside. What a fun new addition!

Abigail Dickens

Wow, we love this place! There is SO much to do here and so little time. Next time we will deff be back for more than one day. Outside was definitely our favorite. Getting to play outside and play all the sports and doing hands on activities. We got to play baseball, basketball, football, race cars, climb a treehouse, play tennis and so many more fun sports were offered outside.

Google Reviewer

Great destination for children. As for the older kids though (11+ years) and adults, there's not as much to do. It's geared mainly toward younger children, as the name suggests. Food court has ok food, but if you want to save a lot of money they allow you to pack food, especially if you have a bigger family (4+ kids). You will already spend enough money on admission. Anyways it a great spot to go to and it's worth every penny. Your kids will have a blast!

Dave Roth

Excellent full day adventure with children and adults alike! Best value are annual family passes or they also offer military and other discounts so be sure to do your homework and check out the offers before you go. This museum is so awesome because it is "hands on" everyone can touch and experience the exhibits! Plan on full day excursion! The cafeteria is a great place to eat, but for those on a budget they will allow you to bring in your own lunch.

Ricky Smith

Because my children love it so much and that's all they want to go do whenever I ask where they want to go and do on the weekend, and this is the first place that they scream and shout out lol , it's like they are addicted to it or something. We have been so many times, I know we have been more than 40 times this year alone, that's with a group bigger than 6 at one time. It's a great place for the family. Highly recommend for sure!!!!

Flying Penguin

Always something to do. Some exhibits rotate in and out to keep it fresh. The new Greek exhibit is really great. Interesting for both adults and kids. The membership is a must if you're a local.

Robert Sanchez

Amazing museum. Not much I can say that others haven't already. All I can say it is worth the money here. We thought we only spend an hour or two here. We ended up spending 5+ hours and only left since they were closing. Super friendly and clean here. Definitely world class.

Ana Byrd

We’re very lucky to live near this amazing museum. Definitely worth the money for family passes, my kids can spend all day in just one exhibit! With all there is to see and do, and new exhibits popping up regularly, it’s absolutely worth a trip from out of town. You can visit the Indianapolis Zoo and Conner Prairie while you’re here!

Vida Herrera

This is a great place! Winter, summer, raining??... Doesn't matter!! Several displays, they are always updating everything. They have intwresting stuff for all ages. You can spend all day there and probably won't finish. To have the membership is a great idea, because you can go as many times as you want all year long. It is clean, service is amazing. An excellent experience overall.

Zachary Edwards

Just Wow! This place is huge! It has four floors of fun for children, plus a huge outdoor area as well. This museum is probably best for kids from 3-13 years old. I would do the inside area first unless your kids love sports. Otherwise they will water all their energy outside and be too tired to enjoy the indoor areas. My twin boys loved it, we were there for 6 hours and still didn't see everything this incredible place had to offer.

Richard PELLECCHIA II

Very nice museum. Well organized and laid out. Friendly employees. I really enjoyed the tour guides, they seemed to really love their jobs. Did the archaeology tour ( very informative and engaging) and the water clock (he was silly and fun). Free parking was a super bonus! The sports interactive area is an amazing idea! Don't forget Payton played for Denver too

Josh Rittenhouse

I absolutely love this place. Having small children now, I get to relive that sense of awesome and excitement again that I had as a kid coming here. There is far more to do than a family can get to in one visit, but it keeps growing. We can not wait to go back again and again.

Jason Blair

Very interactive. Our 3 year old loved it! We spent almost 6 hours there so it was worth the money. The outdoor sports area was fun and a nice bonus for your admission. All in all it was a day well spent and I highly recommend it if you have little ones.

Brenda Barnett

The Ticket Sales Staff were very nice and welcoming. We definitely appreciated that! We went Sat. September 28, 2019 when the Sports Legends exhibit was going on and that was definitely our favorite spot. We went there last because fortunately it did stay open later than the rest of the museum, which was such a plus because the kids got to run around and live their best life outside with all the activities before we went home. We also really enjoyed "going to Greece" exhibit and many of the other exhibits they had. They do have hands on activities for all ages and we will definitely be going back; the kids were not ready to leave even after being there for a good 6 hours!! Thank you Indianapolis!!

Taimur Mian

Awesome museum. Great place to take children. It gets boring for parents after the 10th time you've been there. But still recommend a membership.

Misty Williams

It can be a bit chaotic when several field trips are there and children are running around unsupervised. I do not care for the prices at the gift shop as well as some of the merchandise that is a waste of money. In addition after my total was announced by the cashier I was ask if I would like to donate $1 to the museum. I love how clean and the number of restrooms are, the space where children can explore on their level and the constant care the employees who provide interactive stations for the children.

Melissa Robinson

I love the children's museum I love the idea that they don't charge you to park and there's the covered walkway to come in and out but I also was a little disappointed at the Egyptianthat you were charging a separate fee to see that display granite we go to the children's museum all the time and pretty much everything stays the same except for the new exhibit so I was disappointed that you wanted to charge a separate fee after we'd already pay $95 for three of us to get in that's why I didn't give you no better of writing I didn't think I didn't like the idea that that the good part of the Egyptians display or had to be charged a separate fee paying on top of hundred

Jaycen Herndon

Coming from St. Louis. The museum was just fine when you factor the price in for an entire family to go. It may have been the time we went, but a large amount of the spaces were under construction leaving a couple of the floors a little "bare". The outside sport area was probably the most fun for our family, though.

Jane Wang

It was one of the best children's museums I've been to, and I've been to a few. So colorful and exciting for the children. You probably need a few days to explore the place. It's five stories high. And the parking is free. My son didn't want to leave at the end of the day. We still have some areas left unexplored, can't wait to go back again in August.

Dakota Roos

We were here for over 4 hours and only got to 1/4 of what this amazing place has to offer! Clean, affordable, friendly and SO MUCH TO LEARN and do! It was so hard to leave! We can’t wait to go back

Joyce Allen

One of the best children's museums in America. My kids loved it when they were young. Great activities with an educational and fun focus. Lots of eating places, too. Parking is not free but lots of spaces. Easy to get there via public transportation. The docents are knowledgeable and friendly.

Crystal Rapinchuk

Absolutely phenomenal! You absolutely can spend an entire day (or more!) here. Good for all ages from youngest to oldest.

Deric North

This is a very fun place to take your children, or to just go by yourself. It's a tad pricey, but they always have interesting exhibits and they change frequently enough to warrant a couple trips per year if you can afford it. Their food court has good variety and they are also very accessible to those with mobility issues. The parking is free, which is saying a lot in Downtown Indianapolis.

Gyjuan Woodson

I am so grateful for the Children's Museum. My grandchildren LOVE the various events & interactive activities on each floor, as well as outside sports area. The tree house was a big hit also.

Preston Lamb

Our kids had a blast at the Children's Museum. We were there for 4 hours and only barely scratched the surface. Outside there is an area where the kids (and their parents) can try multiple sports, including soccer, baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and tennis. I believe there are a few others as well. Inside there are a lot of exhibits to visit, including trains, space, Egypt, China, and many more. We walked through fairly quickly to see as much as possible, but you could spend a lot of time here. There are also many other things to do on each floor, so check out their website to see what all there is to do. We didn't see many of the floors, but there is a lot to do there. A one day pass won't be enough to do everything, so if you love in the area I think the annual pass and going a few times over the course of the year would be the best option.

LD D

Amazing!!! THIS is a must stop when you are in town. It is the largest children's museum in the world- but it is so much more. There is something for everyone. They even have an outdoor sports area. We were so surprised when we went to see an exhibit there, just my husband and myself. We stayed for 3 hours and could have stayed longer there is so much to see. We are planning to return soon. Enjoy!

Chris Striley

The Indianapolis Children's Museum is a wonderful place to take the whole family, including babies. Their interactive, educational exhibits are unmatched by any other children's museum I've been to. They also rotate exhibits so there will be at least one new thing every few months. Their outdoor area for sports is a lot of fun as well. It is worth it to get a membership if you have small kids and are within a few hours' driving distance.

Michael Alfieri

A Great experience. This museum provides children with bite size info on many many topics. It is well thought out presentations that keep kids interest even though they are actually learning a lot. Great job!!

Sarah Paschall

No complaints here! One of the best children's museums you'll ever visit! If you're not a member, you're going to want to spend a whole day here--from dinosaurs to science to the playscape to special exhibits....and now the new sports complex! So much to see and interact with. You'll not be disappointed.

Lola A

We didn't know there were so many outside activities; this was a great find. We really enjoyed being outside & doing all the activities. The tree house is so fun for the kids. We weren't overly impressed with the indoor activities/options. The Lilly Theater was fun; good show. The prices are insane. $100 for 2 adults & 1 child is outrageous.

Rafael Haro

Amazing place. Never seen such beautiful place for children to explore and learn. Excellent location. Very clean and well maintained. Friendly staff. Great food court. Large gift shop. Outside sports of every type. Military discount honored. Can't wait to return with my grandchildren.

Marc Mendes

Second time visiting and still worth the money (which was a decent chunk). Incredible displays and the outdoor area dedicated to sports is excellent! The only disappointment was that the dinosaurs lab was closed and sealed off, but they are preparing for a new large dinosaur exhibit so understandable.

Joseph Long

Went here with 3 other adults, no kids, and it kept us all completely enthused! This museum was so cool! The engineering, dinosaur, archeology, and science exhibits were especially good. The cafeteria serves, actually, really good food. As of now there's also an exhibit on ancient Greece that was phenomenal. It's definitely worth a visit!

Jean Duffield

This is a fantastic place to take kids of all ages. Just be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes! The food court is a little pricey, but there is a good variety. I think you can take your own picnic lunch, but I'd research it to be sure.

Ruth Poling

We are a very frugal family, but even though it was expensive, it was an amazing experience... and we don't regret spending the money on it. Staff are very helpful. The exhibits were interesting, educational, interactive and FUN! We appreciated the sky walk from the free parking garage across the street.

Maddie Grace

Friends and I made a trip to the museum and have to say it was great even for all ages! Absolutely a must if you are in Indianapolis! Carousel was my favorite! Made me feel like a kid again lol!

Charles

I am 19 and I still loved it here! A great place for absolutely all ages and their dinosaur exhibit was astonishing!

Adam Mikels

This is without a doubt the best Children's Musuem in the country. There is so many things to see and do. We did not fit it all into a full day open to close. You need at least 2 days. It has enough to interest all of our kids age 2 to 11. I've been coming since I was 5. They do a great job of getting new things to see. It is a great value too. Plan to bring our own food because the food, it is cafeteria level food and over priced as expected.

Sherry Strawn

Love this place.. so much fun. I've been taking my kids and now the grandbaby for a quarter of a century. Does not disappoint.

Cheryl Conwell

I love the Children’s Museum. My adult daughter and I were disappointed that the science area is less interactive than it used to be. It is very crowded so go early or late. The dinosaur exhibit is still amazing although some littles are scared.

Eric Brock

We've been going here for years, def worth the 2 hour drive from Cincinnati. Being able to watch scientists uncover fossils and ask them questions as they work is a cool opportunity. We experienced the new outdoor sports play place today and can't recommend it highly enough. We're not athletic and still spent 3 hours outside. The climbing tree, race cars and golf were our favorites.

Tiffany Belcher

Wow! This place was the best! Our 6yo still asks every few weeks when we will return and he’s been to NUMEROUS Children’s museums. Every exhibit was extremely detailed and filled with fun! We spent the entire day here (open to close and additional evening time outdoors at the sports complex ) and could have easily spent another FULL day enjoying it all! Price wasn’t overly expensive considering how much fun we all had. The sports complex is amazing and super well-done! Incredible facility overall and we would love to come back every weekend! If you live close to this place you should totally have a membership!

Carey LaBella

We had a great time at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. We took our 4 year old, 3 year old and 1.5 year old to see the Paw Patrol exhibit this summer. We enjoyed our time we bought a membership and plan to go back soon. We only saw 2 of the floors with exhibits. Highly recommend!

karen squires

This a place my children grew up. Imagination for a child is exciting and the can see some of their dreams in person. This place is for the entire family go enjoy and learn something new every time.

Jeremy Rowland

Always worth driving two hours one way to see the museum! Love the new exhibits from time to time and the educational experience with my kids!

joshua martin

World class museum. Been to the one in Atlanta, Denver and Boise. Not seen one even close to the quality of this one.

John John

I thought this place would be like Disney world - overrun with strollers. But I was wrong it wasn't! Place was great with a bunch of random stuff. I really wish the exhibits were more of a coherent piece. At times it feels like they just found random objects and plastered it on every piece of white space. The sports facility next door was super bomb after the long walks around the museum.

J. M. S. S.

Was a madhouse, was also spring break apparently. Loved the dinosaurs. Outdoors was pretty neat too. My kids needed to be a tad bit older to enjoy and appreciate it. They were 5 and 2 at the time. I recommend the youngest to be at least 6 to fully enjoy everything.

Mike Russelle

What a wonderful place for all ages. Very interactive educational and fun. Outdoor sports exhibits were amazing, wish we had something like this locally. Thought entry fees were a bit expensive even when purchased in advance.

Erika Purlee

The entire experience from ease of parking, members and visitors entrance, children's fun educational experiences, and even food options are great! The friendly helpful staff and new exhibits are a plus! If you are local to Indy and have young children, a membership has so much value and pays for itself in just a couple trips. As parents of toddlers know "plans" go out the window quick if your child is having an off day. So, the freedom to spend as much or as little time as you want indoors or outdoors and know that you don't have to get to it all in a day just to get your money's worth with your littles, and still never get board, because there is just so much to see and do.

Jolynn Jones

Lots to do and see here. We had a great day with our 2 year old grandson.

Corey Cordell

One of the best indoor places to go with kids. Plus the outdoor sports areas is amazing and like nothing else. We go all the time. Many exhibits change which gives plenty of variety. Fun for the whole family.... kids and adults. If you have ne or been it's a must go.

M J

The Museum was nice, but being as large as it is, I expected more. I drove 4+ hours to make this visit a small family get away. We visited another museum in Ann Arbor earlier this year, and it seems like that first smaller museum had more to do. Especially more hands on activities. Sports area was really cool. I think if you are visiting the city, it is a good option for something to do; However, I would not come from far away if you have an ok/good Museum closer to home.

Roderic Rinehart

I take my classes here every year on a field trip. More to see and do than a class or family can handle in 3 hours. Stuff for all ages and they change exhibits often enough (and keep some permanently as well) that you can go yearly and still have a great time.

Darya Jackson

Only wanted to see the Ancient Greece exhibit. Exhibit entry $7, but must be purchased with general admission of $33.95. Not paying $40 for $7's worth. I would be ok to spend that if they said, here, you can use $20 of that at the gift store. But that wasn't an option.

Jay Schlafman

Just saw on the news that the Children’s Museum is so honorably volunteering to house asylum seeking children from the border. What an amazing idea. What better place to house children then at the Children’s Museum? Brilliant. You can fit thousands in there. When do the first buses arrive? Where can I chip in on gas? You guys are awesome.

kaitlyn hermsen

Great place for kids but cafeteria staff is beyond rude. We are members of the museum but can’t handle how rude the people are that clean tables. Literally force larger families into the back of the room and make a big deal about it. I should be able to sit where I want to without being told. It would be one thing to be in the aisle and in the way but didn’t realize there was assigned seating.

Joseph, Jaclyn Harvie

The museum is fun and has a lot to experience. They change the exhibits every couple months which adds new experiences all the time. The new out door sports center is a great way to help children learn while keeping them active. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Melinda H

We came to Indianapolis just for this museum. It was worth the 8.5hr drive. We were blown away at the organization of this museum. We loved the dinosaur exhibits, the time capsule room and most importantly the outdoor sports! The bike/car races were awesome! The football drills, basketball, tennis, soccer...just wow. The prices were afforable... we paid for our tickets in advance. And parking was FREE! The food court prices are comparable to any food court and there is plenty of space in the dining hall. We will definitely return!

Sarah Rice

Lots of fun things! This museum is huge and has a variety of things. They did a wonderful job on their Greece exhibit (it is temproary). A must do in Indianapolis if you have kids or if you're an adult check out the adult only nights. So many cool things to check out and the parking structure is great.

Jason Fassler

Wow! Packed with things to do. Could spend days here and not see it all. Only disappointment was one exhibit you had to pay more to get into. Spectacular for adults and kids.

Joshua Hedderich

I grew up coming here as a child and today I got to share it with my 8 year old daughter. She absolutely loved it, especially the dinosaur exhibit! It was so awesome to see her sense of wonder come out.

Mike and Grace Muroski

I went there with my 23 month old. She had a great time and mainly stayed in the playscape area. We only stayed for a few hours because of nap time, but we could have been there all day. She really enjoyed the art project and story time at playscape.

Mark Wisehart

Holy cow! This place is amazing!! My daughter is an attorney now and I have pics of her at 2 sitting in a toy firetruck with a fireman’s hat on! We’ve lived all over the nation and it is the go to place for kids in Vacation planning. Talk about doing things right the first time!! Excellent!

Laurie Fraher

Great place for kids to play and explore. Larger than any other children's museum and worth every penny you pay. Come on time (or a touch early) and take advantage of the experience. You can bring your own lunch, rent a locker to store your stuff, bring a stroller and still great for my older kids (9 &7)!

Simon Lee

A really great experience taking my 3 year old. Tons of activities for kids to get involved in.

Rami Batarseh

The museum is big Lots of stuff to see Interactive with kids have lots of interactive play areas, interactive shows and activities to enjoy their time Parking is available and free They have food court, but we didn't use it Make sure you take snacks and drinks cause you need at least 6 hours to see everything My 6 years old enjoyed it and we as adults saw some interesting stuff that we also enjoyed Buy tickets online as they are cheaper than in site If you plan a visit try to find a time were it is not raining so kids can enjoy the outdoors part, if possible

Cat Newbury

Great place to bring your kids! My fiance and I enjoyed it as well as our three-year-old and our one year old. Parking is free, which was a really nice surprise! They had a Paw Patrol Adventure area that the kids were super excited about. Staff is really friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back!

Mickey Speidell

Busy place. Lots to do. Outside activities were the best.

Thomas Kwong

We closed this museum down! From the time it opened till the last call the kids had so much fun and didn’t want to leave. We took a special trip to come visit this museum and it was well worth it. Make sure you order your tickets online ahead of time to save some money.

D Cas

I only gave 3 stars for lack of interactive exhibits. Yes there are buttons and knobs but that is the extent of most of it. A lot of reading for kids which is great if kids enjoyed reading all day. Was hoping the science center would have had more. All in all it's a nice place but for 2 adults to pay $70 admission to watch is a little pricey. We did not go to outdoor sports area due to weather but it looked like a fun playground

Tiffanie B.

Fun place for kids to visit, the dinosaur exhibit was phenomenal, the sound effects, the staff explaining about the dinosaurs, and the Egyptian exhibit was cool too. The kids liked the train walk through too. It was so incredibly hot when we went we didn't make it to the outdoor play area but wish we could of.

David Small

Came all the way from Chicago for my son on his birthday and let's just say I wish I had more time to explore we spent the entire day and still didnt get to go to everything talk about packed full of activities this museum is amazing the staff was amazing all around and this was an Amazing Trip definately coming back with more people, fun for all ages

Patty Nichols

It is a great museum. There are lots of things for kids to do. You could spend a whole day.The display on Greece is interesting, for the kids they have fishing, saving the turtles, and a pretend restaurant where they make food and deliver it to the table.

Aiesha Waltower

My 8 year old really enjoyed it! We spent over 4 hours there. Playing and learning about Greece, dinosaurs, sport's legends... We'll be going back for sure.

Michael Widmeyer

We love this museum! Always changing and evolving. Great for repeat visits.

Kate H

Fun for all ages. We had three generations there and we all had a blast. Lots of inside and outside activities. The new outside playground was fun, but didnt spend much time there as it was very hot. Always good to take children there!

Sara Deee

Five star service friendly employees and super informative. Four stars because there's a lot of parts that were closed off with no mention prior to spending over $100 on admission. They've taken a lot of the more fun attractions out, water play area and climbing wall. Aside from that there were many things to do and keep kids entertained.

xxxxWONTONxxxx

Simply amazing! Was there at 10am and stayed all day! Everything for every age, very interactive. Kept my 3 & 2 year old busy and having fun the whole time! Only wished they were open longer! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Michelle Glowacki-Dudka

Great day for learning. We enjoyed the Anne Frank, Ruby Bridges exhibit, along with the Real dinosaur fossils that were being cleaned. What an amazing place.

Quirine van Oldenborgh Dahlquist

Amazing. Spent all day here and we still didn't do/see it all. Mold-a-rama added to collection. Staff looks like they actually enjoy what they are doing which is so refreshing. Thank you for a great experience. My 7 year old boys really enjoyed themselves, as did we!

Joshua Summers

Super fun place for families or date nights. There is so much to see that it's tricky to see everything in one day, so come early if you can! The outdoor/sports are stays open a bit longer on weekends and is great for kids to run around and wear them out. Depending on the season they'll have different displays, so check out their website to see what they have!

Joleen Tawfik

Love coming here. A family favorite when we get the extra money. Not affordable for every day families. Love all the hands in exhibits. First time at the sports center. Loved that experience.

PuyoDead

Absolutely amazing place to go, both as a kid, and an adult. They're just an incredible amount of stuff to see and do here. From highly informative educational displays, to sheer fun interactive activities, to outdoor physical games. Also, a giant gift shop that is actually fairly priced, unlike some other similar places I've gone to. If you plan to go, get as much time set aside for it as possible, the place is absolutely gigantic. It's going to take a whole day to see everything.

Rosalba Lopez

Tons of hands on exibits for the little ones. My 4 year old daughter loved every second of excitement. The little play area for kids 5 and under on the 3rd floor was absolutely amazing. We even got on the amazing carousel. I cant wait to go back!

Anette Wagener

It is amazing!!!! Be sure to get your tickets in advance. If you get them 2 weeks out they are cheaper and come in the mail. Being Good Friday it was crowded but the workers were very helpful. We were there ALL day and only got 2 of the 5 floors in. Bought a membership and will be back for a second day. Highly recommend this for any family. Fun for all ages.

Cory Gehring

Great fun for all ages. Any time you are in Indy and have a half a day to spare, check this place out. You and your children/grandchildren will always come away having learned something new. To avoid the crowds I'd suggest going on a weekday, but even on a busy day, it is still not as crowded as you would think. Lots of hands on for the whole family

Mary Hannigan

Has something for everyone. Cannot express how wonderful the whole experience was here. Has something whatever interests your child enjoys. I must see if you're in the area. Any age group would enjoy.
