This Park is classified in the category of Park.
They have some awesome private camp spaces and it's just a beautiful park. I really love and appreciate the bike and walking trails. The beach is also really large and really clean. It feels like a real ocean beach! There are playgrounds everywhere which the kids loved as well.
This is a really nice state park, very close to the highway, yet still with a feeling of being remote and outdoors. Lots of trails and bike paths, as well as good beaches and swimming. If you have a boat, hanging out on the sandbar on the weekend with the other crazies can be a lot of fun, just remember your sunblock! One word of caution, though the campsites can be very nice, even with 50amp service on some, the map may not be representative of the actual layout. We booked 348, which appeared to be the entire inside end of a loop (half-circle), but in reality was a strange diagonal pull-thru that in the one-way loop direction would have your door and awning opening onto the road.
I have stayed at this park twice this last summer and have been very impressed. The park is large and the camping sites are spaced pretty generously. The park is large at 1.5 miles by 2 miles with about three miles of lake shore. It has a lot of activities for kids. The area outside of the park is also very nice. Angola is a county seat with local town amenities. There is also big box stores and and a Meijer within five minutes of the park. The park has a great resort that is like stepping back to 90 years ago. This is a great place to visit for camping or to do a stay at the resort for summer or winter fun.
This is a very great relaxing place to go and unwind. Cheaper than therapy... That's for sure! Just keep your mind open & let it go. Love the 45 minute horse ride. The campground is wonderful & clean. Many things to do. You just have to go check it out sometime for yourself.
This is an ideal park for beginners and novice hikers. More experienced hikers will want to head to Turkey Run state park. The Inn and campgrounds combine to offer a full range of accomodations: from roughing it with no electricity to well apportioned rooms. And the lake too- there is something for everyone. The the toboggan run means there is something all the time! A true 4-seasons treasure.
Great place to go hiking. We really enjoyed walking the trails and completed the Hell's Point Challenge, walking all 8+ miles of the trails. For completing you get a cool sticker and water bottle. We will definitely be back.
Beautiful Park and Beach. So glad we discovered it. I'd been looking for large beaches with decently clean water for some years now, a friend recommended pokageon so we decided to give it a chance. Was very pleased with the entire area, had tons of fun and stayed for hours. Plan on returning this summer.
Nice place for family gatherings.
We had an absolute amazing trip. Staff was super friendly. Our campsite was clean. Bathrooms were nearby. Other campers were super nice. Can't wait to come back!!
Love this park. Consider making a winter visit when few people are here and the solitude is refreshing. Playgrounds are newly updated. Plenty of picnic areas. Paved bike route. Nice all around
Gorgeous! Trail riding and lovely paths to walk. So much to do?
Awesome place to spend time with thrill-seeking family and friends. The walk from the end of the slope to the front of the line is a little long, but it provides a nice build-up for the drop later. Made sure to wear warm clothes!

Clean facilities, very well kept park. Love the beach
My happy place! Grew up camping here! Enjoyed the lakes in college. Now I bring my wife and daughter up here at least once a year. Beautiful place!!

Awesome day at beach couldn't have went to a better place to swim!!!!
Great place for camping and swimming at the beach.
My family loves this place. We try to go at least once a year. Great in any season and the lodge is especially nice.
Great campground! Large sites, beautiful scenery. Clean facilities that are well maintained. Lake James was nice, large section of beach to enjoy. Electric only and handicap sites available. Will defiantly camp here again.
Very good place to camp I highly recommend Pokagon state park for camping. They just repaved the roads throughout the campground system.
Nicest place in Indiana. Come alone or with your family you'll find everything to enjoy with all. Wilderness, nice beaches, lake and beautiful tracks.
The best park in the north. Friendly clean .

Good beach great food love the tobbogan run during the winter
So much to do and see. Something for everyone.
This is a really lovely park, but to say the trail markers are "poorly placed" would be a massive understatement. Most paths are completely unmarked, many signs are facing away from where they'd normally be seen, etc. - and considering there are so many different paths with numerous segments, this results in far more confusion than necessary.

Pokagon State Park a wonderful place to visit. Started going there over 8 years ago been going every year since. Lots of great sites to take in, trails to walk on they even have a beach. When my husband and I decide to get married looking for a place was very easy, yes we got married at Pokagon State Park. They have a wonderful group camp prices are very reasonable.
Great state park with lovely trails and a perfect midway break between Chicago and Cleveland. I was never a person who stopped on road trips besides filling up my tank, but my dogs have changed me and now I really appreciate the amazing natural spaces that you can find just a little off the toll roads. We arrived about an hour and a half before sunset, my dogs and I eagerly explored the trails that led us to a cedar forest, wetlands, a stable (no horses, but lots of smells!), and more. Would highly recommend a visit everyone. Worth the entrance fee ($7 for Indiana residents, $9 for non-residents)
Pokagon State Park is our family's all-time favorite place to camp and stay for a weekend! Family friendly in every way! The horseback riding on trail rides is affordable. The lake is pristine. Easy access from the 80-90 toll road. We LOVE the toboggan run in the winter (Jan-mid Feb.) The toboggan is frozen and is open on the weekends, even if the weather is not freezing. Call in advance or look on line for details.
Great place to go hiking. We really enjoyed walking the trails and completed the Hell's Point Challenge, walking all 8+ miles of the trails. For completing you get a cool sticker and water bottle. We will definitely be back.
Great atmosphere. Inn well kept. Staff courteous. Beautiful park.
The park is great, campsites can be a trick to get into if your over 28 feet. Only down side is the dump station. Very poor design. Will return because the park and trails are great.
The campground is nice and clean. We will definitely be back.
Nice State Park for outdoor activities whether it is camping, hiking or swimming at the campground beach or the beach at the Potowatami Inn. There is also several ramadas for large groups to enjoy a picnic. Entry into the park is $7 and you pay the attendant at the front gate prior to entry.
Nice place to stay but Inn needs to clean up soiled furniture in their rooms.
Beautiful park, clean restrooms. Nice, well marked hiking trails and bike path. Lots of activities for kids to do! Campground is huge, but still tree cover and quiet loops. Our campsite #365 could use more rock though, as it rained and created a lot of mud in comparison to other sites.
Amazing and plan on going back. Grew up going here.
Pokagon is a classic State Park! Tons of things to do, clean beach, trails, and even horses. If it rains the sites definitely hold some water, but our site didn't.
Lake Jane's antic boat ann also a classic car show@
This place is just so big and nature's all around you it's a very nice place to walk your dogs and it's a great chance to just be outside get fresh air it's a nice place to R&R and be at peace and get stepping
Very quiet State Park! They have both power and primitive sites.
This is camping my style. Can't wait for my reunion this year here
A+ Great Views very nice park
It was beautiful and so relaxing...I had an amazing time..the people are wonderful also
Stayed in the group camp, had an excellent time. Park has lots to do during the summer, from arts and crafts, to a weekly movie night at the Inn.
Love this park great place to take the family
Love camping at Pokagon. 1st time seeing the fireworks. They were great, plenty of DNR personnel helping w/ parking & crowd control.
Absolutely love this place! We stay at the Potawatomi Inn and feel so relaxed and at home that we don't want to leave when it's time to go. I enjoy the hot tub and pool, walking on the small beach or on the nature trails. They have a Nature Center, paddle boats, horseback riding, and special events going on from time to time. We've been coming here for years and plan on returning many more times in the future!
Saw 2 doe, and 1 buck! Really cool!
It is a beautiful state park! We didn't camp this time, but we have camped in the past. A great place for all kinds of activities!
Beautiful scenery, courteous staff kind of close quarters, but a whole lot to offer. Had a real good time.
Clean park and nice beach. Clean shower and restroom facilities.
It is a nice escape. There is a good lake for fishing, and in the winter take a taboggin ride.
Very nice park! Bathrooms kept clean! Nice size lots!
we have been coming here for a couple of years now. My family absolutely loves it! We love to go down and rent a kayak or a paddle boat. The prices are very fair and just perfect for the four of us. We also love to go down to the beach and swim. The one public beats location offers a concession stand and enclosed restrooms with showers. we also love to hike on the trails and visit the nature center. The nature center has several different animals that you can look at as well as a bird viewing room.
We went to the Fly in of the old seaplanes at the park. You will see planes from a bygone era. We spent an entire day watching the planes take off fly around the lake and land again. This planes are pieces of art and such a pleasure to witness in person. I highly recommend attending the event.
Go a couple times a year. Stay at the Inn. Always great. This year they changed something. Memorial day weekend they closed the cafe . Very disappointed as we have our reunion and many youngsters were looking forward to ice cream. Went back in July. The buffet was closed even though they advertise it being open. Whatever management changed was not in the best interest of the guests.
Nice park, shaded. A little confusing to get around the camping area. The Toboggan run looks like good winter time fun. Nice clean swimming beach
This is a beautiful park! We'll definitely camp here again.
Beautiful hiking! Doable in a day
Had a full day on the trails enjoying nature and fresh air
Very nice park in northern Indiana. Kid friendly, hiking to Indiana's highest point. Nice beach area, has lots rocks in the area though. Horseback riding. Paly grounds for kids. Fresh water string. Beautiful lodge.
A terrific state park - well maintained. Enjoyable any season and offers many family activities to be enjoyed all year round - swimming, boating, hiking, horses, camping, nature, and the staff plans concerts and seasonal activities with the Inn and around holidays - Christmas, 4th of July.
Beautiful park, however, camp in any section but 100's. Those sites are very rocky and unlevel.
After traveling as much as we have I'm not sure it deserves 5 star but for my family and where we live, we love this place. Summer or winter, worth the visit. You won't be dissatisfied
This is a gorgeous state park. The beach is Sandy and clean. Lots of trees and trails. Pontoon and cabin rentals.
Stayed in the cabins. They were very nice, but no WiFi. Only negative was we had to reserve 14 months in advance. Reserve early!
Wonderful place to hangout with family and friends ♥️
Woman's hiking group is fun. Beautiful weather and nice trails.
The lodge is beautiful and the staff is very kind and helpful. The park itself is very pleasant. And the toboggan ride is awesome.
What a nice nature center and beach great place to bring the family
Beautiful state park and a rambling lodge with a gorgeous lawn that sweeps down to Lake James. Lots of amenities and facilities for fun year round including a toboggan run and indoor pool, beaches and hilly trails.
Great place for everyone! Nature center was awesome!
The lake is beautiful, the wild life is wonderful to watch, the DNR is very attentive there, and I saw my first eagle in the wild there one autumn several years ago.
Very nice state park. Enjoyed the beach
Large sites, numerous bathrooms, well maintained. Negatives include too strict on firewood, obviously not sprayed for mosquitoes, and bathrooms are a bit dingy
One of our favorite places to camp! Sites are clean but we did have a problem with racoons both nights. We didn't leave any trash or food out. First night we were sitting by the fire when a raccoon was checking our picnic table for food. Second night I was cooking pizza pies on the fire when I noticed 3-4 raccoons on the edge of the woods.
I was there as a caterer for a small wedding at the CCC Shelter. Wonderful setting for a special ebent. But quite a few steps to get equipment to the lower level
It's a beautiful resort area with much of the original work done under the CCC.
Beautiful park, clean restrooms. Nice, well marked hiking trails and bike path. Lots of activities for kids to do! Campground is huge, but still tree cover and quiet loops. Our campsite #365 could use more rock though, as it rained and created a lot of mud in comparison to other sites.
The trails and grounds are well-maintained.
Absolutely beautiful. Alot of parks for the kids and trails to walk through. Horses and wildlife viewing center are a must if you do get the chance to visit.
Very nice trail system, relatively easy and well maintained
Always a joy. A childhood memory of nostalgia that hasn't changed; which is good! So many trails and wild animals to see. Beaches and boats to explore as well!
They have a horse stable for trail rides which was a great experience starting at $25.00
Large clean campground. Well maintained. There's many trails of varied difficulty. There's a beach for the summer and tobagon run for the winter. Good fishing and boating. There's also a horse barn for those who like to ride
Nice park. The Inn is great for family reunions and weddings
If youre looking for a great natural environment this is where id go...again it was so nice and the lake access was easy and clean and i was not expecting there to be a place to buy drinks or food but that was definitely a plus even though we didnt utilize it but if youre randomly looking for a nice place to visit and find something to do especially spontaneously because we didnt get past the lake so i cant say what else there is till later
Love, love, love the campgrounds here. One of our favorite camping sites!
In 30 years of staying at Indian State Park, our stay at Pokagon was the worst ever. The water is tinted a yellowish-green. The shower curtains, walls and seats in the shower stalls were all covered with black mold. There was hair in the drain so thick the water couldn't drain. We complained in the office and was told they would take care of it. They sprayed the curtains but led the mold on the walls and seat....didn't touch the hair in the drain. We ended up leaving two days early. The camp sites were overgrown with bushes and grass. The park grounds are really nice but I can't recommend their campground.
One of my favorite places on earth!
Relaxing hiking in late summer.
Great family excursion. Camping, lake, sights and outdoors. Perfect.
Been coming here for almost 40 years. Have always loved the scenery and they have some very nice campsites.
This is an amazing place if your looking for a place to have fun with the family, of all ages. My family goes every summer, and we all look forward to going again. It’s an unforgettable, life changing journey where you can learn new things. The service and the people that work there are very nice. I went there for several years, and I make new amazing memories every time I go.
Just a great way to release and relax. My favorite time to go is during the week if you have time! Its quiet, people nicer, and you can pace yourself however you want
We had a beautiful day on the trails at the park today. Thanks for such nice trails! I especially love how well you had the wetlands groomed. It is beautiful back there!
This is a great State Park and awesome place to go camping and take your family. They have horse back riding, trails for exploring, lakes for fishing and boating and camp grounds for camping. The DNR could not have been more helpful or friendly. We come back year after year.
Beautiful lodge, forest, lake, etc. and the animal center is very enjoyable
Great pretty private campsites, lots of great trails.
Every year myself and a group of women stay at the group camp and enjoy 5 days of fires, lake time, and nature. It is sheer bliss. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The grounds are stunning and well maintained. The wildlife is gorgeous and everywhere you look. Fantastic hiking trails too! One of my very favorite places.
Great place for a hike and a great place to go camping!
Beach, trails, Nature Center. Rent paddle boats or kayaks. Great family fun. Potawatomi Inn is an added plus.
Excellent for walks, chilling and a couple of beaches to boot!
This is a beautiful place to relax.
Pretty decent experience :) my mom found a painted rock
Took 3 of my grandchildren to the park so they could take part in working with clay demo. It was great!
We just love this place! Always clean and fun! Swimming at the beach, bike rides, trail walking, tobogganing in the winter... It's all awesome!
Great place to camp staff there is amazing and fun
The park was very nice! It's even better in the winter!!! The view, the lake, the inn (not the food), everything, just beautiful. However! The trails are VERY poorly marked. It's VERY hard to get to where you want to go and very often you end up somewhere different. Even following the map doesn't work because the trails split in places that aren't marked nor on the map, and sometimes goes in a different direction than the map says. The navigation needs a serious reworking. But other than that, this is an amazing park.
Great place. Family oriented. Dont leave your coolers out! We are camping newbies and the racoons got us good. Lol. Plenty to do. We went primitive. We were able to use a generator though. Showers and bathrooms are ok. In between two towns not that far from park. We loved our stay!
It's A very clean and safe environment they've some really nice trails and beach. It's something we will definitely do again.
Beautiful, accessible park that seems to be great in all seasons. We went in the winter and really enjoyed the toboggan run and hiking in the snow. Sitting and watching birds at the lodge was a real treat as well. The park seems fairly large and water oriented. Lots of temporary piers on the beach that go out into the lake in the summer. Affordable and lovely
In all honesty, I'd really like to give the park a 4.5. But, that's not an option. We stayed at the campground. Which itself, was lovely. Showerhouse was clean, but the shower head was in terrible shape. (That's my half star deduction.) At least in the showerhouse in the 300 loop, the water sprayed every which way. Made it kind of difficult to rinse. Otherwise, the campground was great. Went to the park lodge for breakfast. Yum! They had a wonderful breakfast bar. While eating, we could look out over the lake, and even got to see a crane come right up to the lodge bird feeder to steal a little snack. All in all, was great. Will venture in again for sure.
Great state park. We hiked the Hell's Point Challenge, an 8 mile easy loop, highly recommend it. We stayed in the campground and wish we could have stayed longer than one weekend! We will definitely be back in the winter for the tobagan run.
Was scenic getaway, needs more signs however
Really nice state park, lodge and hiking!
Famuly loves it here! Has a lot of mature trees and a great surounding lake
Been there many times, beautiful park and well maintained.
Nice nature center and bike trail
Disappointed with bike trails couldnt even go in the woods to bike had to stay on pavement..very little arwa to roam and i had to pay $9.00 to get in..nature center was disappoinying too
We went to the Harvest Hoedown and loved the Square dancing!
Was not that impressed beach - very crowded on a thursday. Boats /skiers etc were flying up and down lake. Had icecream and left
Very nice place to stay loved the buffets our bed was not big enough for my husband and I we still enjoyed our stay
2 beaches, horse and pony rides, lots of trails for running or walking, camping, picnicking, cabins to rent, hotel, volleyball, kids playground, kayak and canoe rental, nature center, plenty of parking...toboggan run in the winter!
This state park is a great summer destination, especially for families. There were lots of kids on bikes exploring all day. It was fine for our group, which didn't have any kids, because we chose a camping spot tucked into a nice corner. (Campsite 391 - not great for an RV but good for tent camping. The bathroom nearby wasn't well kept but there was another within walking distance with showers. There's a road on the campsite map that is actually a bike/walking-only road, which makes the campsite feel pretty secluded.) The lake is surprisingly warm and there are a few good dedicated spots for swimming. There are a ton of other things to do, including beach volleyball courts, basketball courts, weekly nature/ampitheater events, and so on. (We checked out a volleyball from the Inn.) We weren't there in winter but it seems like a good place to go for a getaway that time of year too. We brought our dog, and as it turns out dogs aren't allowed on public access beaches. But we got a tip from someone on one of the beaches that if the lifeguard/rangers couldn't see us, they weren't going to enforce anything. So if you head to one of the beaches either by the inn or by the campground with your dog you can sneak around to the edge, past the buoys that define the beach, you can enjoy the day swimming.
I have been going to Pokagon my whole life. It might be my favorite place ever. I love going to the two beaches, hiking, hanging out at the inn, boating, doing a craft, or going to the nature center. I usually camp or stay in the historic section. Winter at the inn is really fun at the inn. You have to go tobogganing!! The staff is really nice and it's just a great place to be! I can't wait to go back. :)
Newly paved roads and bike trails are nice for the kids riding bikes, scooters, etc.
Beautiful park, but the restrooms are in dire need of renovation, at least some privacy from outside viewers... never going back.
It's very clean and the little beach were very nice where all kids can have fun.
Amazing scenery! It was beautiful and peaceful!
Great camping facilities. Good food at the Inn . Beautiful surroundings.
Really good place to walk and hike with kids lots of playgrounds and there is lodgings and cabins to rent. Only thing that sucked was you had to pay 7 bucks per car. I'm sure that that goes to the park so so it's worth it for sure!
Good trails here lots of space to ride a bike
Love going my kids and I always have such a fun time camping hiking and swimming. It's always a fun time
Gorgeous park and I even learned a few things! For instance, blue jays love unshelled peanuts from a ring feeder. The bird watching space at the nature center was wonderful!
We love camping and hiking at Pokagon. It's a beautiful park. Very well kept. The staff are extremely helpful. The Fall leaves are amazing. We love it here.
Cabin was nice. No boat launch at park. Otter has a launch.. Didn't catch any fish , although was a good time.
Great family, and boating lake. Hiking, picnic, camping. Small beach. Water wasn't dirty. Beach bathroom was clean.
Even in cold and rainy weather my Michigander son and his family were impressed with this lovely state park. I'm sure they'll be back to better explore the trails, beach and play areas in warmer weather!
We have visited this place multiple times over the past five years, and it just keeps getting better. We love the beaches, the horseback riding, the nature center has wonderful programs for kids. Hiking trails are great for little kids- easy enough. The lake is beautiful. Be prepared to see a lot of species of birds. There are numerous outdoor parks for the kids, and areas for picnics. We have not been able to use the tabagon hills yet, but hopefully soon. The cabins are nice. I really love the history of this place. Check it out if you have a chance. I am forever grateful for this haven. Watching my kids during the summers here has been my favorite joy to share with them. There are acres of trees and land to roam on your bike, foot or if you must- your car. Docking a boat is free here if you are not into paying the fee to enter the park. The Inn has a restaurant, an arcade, an art center where you can paint and an array of beautiful, peaceful places to lounge. I love it. I dont know you- but my guess is you will figure out if you do too.
I have been coming to this state park since I was a little kid. My family and I absolutely love it here no matter what the season is. Fun summer swimming and hiking, fall hiking and tobaggon runs, winter cross country skiing, and it starts all over again. Great place for families!
Beautiful park, so much to do all year round.
Beautiful park with lots for everyone to do. Can't wait to check out the trails!
Not sure what the park is like, but the lady on the phone was incredibly rude and had no business representing this place.
What a great park! We hiked some trails and thoroughly enjoyed the fall colors. Trails are well maintained, easy to follow, and offer lovely scenes. We imagined the first inhabitants charting and carving paths, clearing space for homesteads and farms. The land provided everything they needed but unlikely anyone had an easy time of it. Forefathers made it possible that we can get close to nature without living in. The park is a good reminder of our heritages.

Great place to camp have a picnic or even family reunion
It's a nice park, but much smaller than I was expecting
Beautiful sandy beach, soft sand, and kayaks. Nine dollars to get in if you are from Michigan. Seven dollars if you are from indiana. My dog loved it. Dogs are allowed to swim outside the beach area on the other side of the buoys
The toboggan run is a lot of fun. We arrived a half hour after open on a Sunday and it was already very busy. We had to wait in a line at admission. Then had to wait another 20 minutes to get a toboggan. Waiting in line to get to the top of the track wasn't too bad, maybe another 20 minutes. The ride itself is a little jarring, my friend has back issues and it really aggravated that. I ended up with a small headache but regardless it was a lot of fun! I did not go again because of my headache but other people in our party were able to go again. After their second time, they had to turn the toboggan in because our hour was almost up. Parking costs less than 10.00. There is a bathroom and warming lodge with light refreshments.
I love spending time with my kids here! It was fun for all ages.
Well maintained walking and bike trails. Love the saddle barn! Campsites are always clean when we arrive. Great place to take the family or just enjoy nature on your own.
Got to take my niece and nephew out for a nice walk through the park with a lunch plus getting to pick plenty of berries that we ate along the way. We also got to learn and try sample of plants that were edible from the edible plants class we participated in.
Fun experience for the kids, but they should really consider having a lift for the toboggans or some easier way to get them back up the hill. That's too much weight for most people to carry that far repetitively.
Awesome place. Although, we didn't see any Pokemon. Maybe next time....
Great place to get away! So beautiful!
Well kept. Plenty to do.
Had very awsome horseback trail rides!!! Very reasonably priced with a great staff!! I will defiantly be going back!!
It's a nice place. Tons of parks and a beach. My kids love going!!
Great state park. Beautiful view of the lake at site 115!
Camping site 511 needs the electrical box moved closer to the camping pad, the electrical outlet is at least 40ft for the camper pad and that's to far away . . . .
I would give this park 5 stars if the trails were marked better. If you are familiar with the area it isn't bad. This was our second trip to the park, and we Estill had a heck of a time finding where we were headed. With today's technology it really wouldn't take much to have an employee walk each trail and upload a gpx file to a popular mapping app. The campgrounds are very clean. The bathrooms were great for a campground. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The speed though the park is a little fast, though. Speed is clearly not enforced here. We enjoyed the stay and look forward to coming back and hopefully getting a good hike.
