Youth section was very nice. Campsites weren't on top of each other and super quiet.

Kathy Ross

My go-to camping destination. Secluded, wooded sites, very little traffic noise, close to stores if you need to pick up something. Can't give it 5 stars because the pit toilet wasn't kept stocked with toilet paper -- kind of important...

Lori Bankson

Beautiful park! Great birding for warblers. Loves the paths along the water. The rushing water of the overflow was amazing and powerful. Visiting was a wonderful way to spend the day with family!

Ashley . Przybysz

A really nice day hike. Lots of mountain biking though. A place where you can kayak. Or spread out and read on a blanket. Level trails not very hilly.

Roingus Boingus

Great place to fish, Boating ramps, and a snack shack. Great overall

beverly romeo

We love going for hikes and taking walks and sitting and watching nature so relaxing

Ulduz Nuhivand

If I could I would leave no stars but that’s not possible. I am sad to say that a place I’ve been going to since I was a child disgusts me so. I was charged a late fee because my husband thought it would be nice to lend a hand to the employee that attends to the boats coming back to the dock. Hopefully management can use a few extra bucks on detergent because between the paddle boats and the life jackets, I couldn’t tell which smelled worse.

Nusaybah Binbek

Awesome went kayaking with my kids like I do every summer! The concession prices are so affordable that we always have a good time there after our fun day

Brenton Rawhoof

This is a fantastic park that many in the Rockford area take for granted! I have heard that people in other states routinely have to pay to access treasures like this but Rock Cut State Park is free to access! I also just found out last year how cheap it is to rent a kayak, canoe, or paddle boat by the hour and it is a lot of fun! I will definitely be utilizing that service much more now that I know about it!

Joanne Woodard

Always try to stop here. It's so beautiful.

Jessica Elizabeth Owens

Arguably the most beautiful park in the surrounding hour perimeter. The rock formations are stunning, great for a photography session. There is an actual playground here as well and camp ground. Highly recommend, but be careful with little kiddos as it could be dangerous!

Gary McConnell

Great place to camp, playgrounds, fishing, boating with small motors 10hp. Lots of hiking n biking trails. Lots to do! Shopping just a short distance away. Theater and Speedway racing Sat. n Wed. Nites.

Carrie Needham

Lovely place, didn't get to stay long but we are already planning a weekend camping trip!

Tayler Swenson

Beautiful park. Fishing isn't the best but it's a nice lake to putt around on. Boat ramp is completely redone which is a plus. No wake on the lake with motors over 10 hp which is also nice

Nick Selk

It's always been really nice. We went and rented a fishing boat today. Always relaxing..

Charles Gibson

Looks like it could be a decent place to spend the day A lot of construction going on in the preserve right now limiting area's you can get to Park staff are awesome I definitely will go back when the work they are doing is done

Anthony LoChirco

Excellent set of trails to hike and bike, beautiful camping sites and a well maintained park. It's both family and pet friendly. Real good fishing obviously well stocked lakes.

Chloe Dean

The nature is incredibly amazing. And pretty.

Lucio Vergara

Wasn't expecting much from this place but it turned to be a very positive experience. I would definitely take a map of the park for there was so trails that cut of but that was due to the day before where we had massive amount of rain.

Owen Lahm

Pretty nice! had A great time camping here. The bike trails are splendid. My only criticism is the café. That place is horrid. Only one microwave, three hours for terrible food. But the rest of the park is superb.

Mark Branthaver

It's a nice area with great trails and two small lakes. The concession and bait and rental shops can take care of you if you don't want to venture off site.

Nicole Schuman

Although the trails are plentiful they are not well marked. You definently need an app like all trails to navigate properly but as long as you're prepared the hiking is great!

javier ortega

We had an awesome time we eventually got lost in an unknown trail so i had to follow the sound of cars to get to the bike trail and work our way back to the car. Our pit was just bulldozing through the brush and creating a walkway. My family including the dog had a blast!

Stephenie DeMartino

Nice park, make sure you reserve camping online to get the better spots. They go quick.

Christian Doolin

Great camping but a bad fishing spot hiking is sub par. If you are up for a challenge fighting the wind then the kayaking is fun word of advice either stay in the bay (by bait shop or close to shore unless you Wana fight decently strong wind)

Mitch Miller

This the largest park in Illinois and dies get quite crowded on the weekends. Lots of boats and kayaks in the summer and a favorite of fishermen.

Angela Clemons

Beautiful nature and people just didn't like that it cost to use the beach.

Eric the Nomad

I really do not like giving poor reviews of what seems to be a great place. I fault the State of Illinois for letting this park run down for lack of budget (I guess). The boat launch/concessions area is the nicest part of the place - 5 stars there. There is construction, which happens, so understandible. My family hiked the large trail around Pierce Lake. My problem is the lack of mowing in many large picnicking areas, the entire inability to clear trails, and many truly grotesque bathrooms. The are overnight camping areas (the tent area) were left dirty. Poison ivy on trails (not just right next to them, but ON them!). Mud-soaked trails that were impossible to avoid (no rain for several days prior to visit). Trails badly marked, if at all. Large trees fallen on trails. 'Boardwalk' docks are broken down and closed. Picnic tables were in really dumb places, some rotting and filthy, and many being hoarded by people. Bikers on trails were disrespectful and acted like hikers had no reason to be on them. Poor road and parking area maintenance. Park officials need to do some policing or something. Would return if Illinois took care of the place. If one wants to compare, go to ANY Indiana State Park (like Shades, Turkey Run, McCormick Creek, etc). They are actually RUN and MAINTAINED correctly!

Cindy Bartelt

Beautiful area. Nice trails. Water for fishing and boating. I’ve never camped there but have toured the area, it seems nice and like it could be fun. There are plenty of areas for picnics. If you want to get out into nature for a bit I highly recommend a little visit. Just be aware that in the winter the park does close off certain areas.

fgc nomad

Lots of outdoor activities including boating/ canoeing many hiking & mountain biking trails. Even a few equestrian trails and much more.the park is also kept fairly litter free

Connie Mccoy

A beautiful place that we always have such wonderful times ! Great for family time and for our dog to swim

Kimberly McCall

It’s a beautiful park with beautiful campsites. My only complaint were the showers. They were ICE COLD in the end of July. And the floors were disgusting. The water was so cold it was impossible to take a shower. We always look forward to a hot shower at the end of a long day driving. Didn’t happen:(

Balasubramanya Gokere Satish

Very peaceful. It is recommended to go on weekends and chill.

Marinela Schuelke-De Leon

If you feel the need to decompress from the hectic city life this is the place to go to. Great trails, facilities and they even have a boat launch.

Chris McGarry

The fishings good if you know this place.and when to go.but rock cut has hundreds of things to do

Cheri Dunn

Darrion and I went paddle boating. I had to paddle but Darrion loved it! That was a leg workout.

amy pedicini

The park is great for hiking, fishing and kayaking. I don't recommend it for camping. Too crowded poor dump station. 2 dumps no backwash.

Erik Johnson

I wanted to love it here, but really struggled to even like most of the facilities. Don't get me wrong, the land is beautiful, but the facilities the park provides are lacking. Bathrooms are worse than portapotties. They're outhouses which clearly never get cleaned or rinsed out even. Roads are beat up and rough, although it seems like they're working on that. Pay $5 to swim at the beach, which is covered in seaweed and the water is filled with more. Want to rinse off? Showers at the beach aren't working (what did I pay $5 for...?). Showers at the campsite aren't heated. It was our first time camping here and a park ranger got up in my face about a beer. I dumped it out, promised to not have any more, and still got attitude. Park doesn't offer lock out service for vehicles, nor does Loves Park Police. I may be back to hike the grounds, but I doubt I will be back to camp. Pick any state park in Wisconsin, you will find better facilities and nicer more helpful staff.

Michelle Weber

Super nice staff. Our camper wouldn't fit on the site we reserved, the staff was so helpful with our switch. The place is clean and pretty well kept. Will be back.

lindsey12osu

Great state park! Would love to come back and camp longer!

Steve Lisowski

A beautiful state park area with all the fun activities: canoeing, kayaks, paddle boarding. Nice bike trails as well. The lake is gorgeous. This place is especially pretty in the fall!

Bear Teddy

Beautiful! The lake is not only nice, but the area was pretty clean of trash and the grass/picnic areas were mowed well! No problem with Ticks nor Chiggers! We had a very nice visit & will return again!

Anita Liepke

Very nice... wish the camping entrance was an option on maps- only one star for maps- it was very hard to find especially in the dark.

Pat Lawlor

Although getting a well-deserved facelift in roads and amenities, Roxk Cut State Park is a great place to boat or fish. Kayaking today on a glass-clear lake. Priceless!

E Morrissey

Sadly this place has gone WAY DOWN HILL over the years

Gary Heinze

Very nice park with lots of water. Good camping (electric only).

Diane Pirrello

Alot of construction otherwise its a 5 star park.

Matt L

Beautiful place with a lot of different things to do. Fishing, camping, hiking, canoeing and so much more.

Samuel Clark

Needs a lot of work and there trying the best with what they have! Come on JBP!

Alex Biers

Beautiful State Park in Northern Illinois. Boat rentals and docks, fishing piers, clean beach and plenty of BEAUTIFUL TRAILS.

Judy Witherby

Nice campground. Obly downside was no internet access and some campers did not control their children well. Overall will camp there again.

david long

Construction at dam. So road closed there, couple picnic areas are contruction taped off, and no one is working on it. Playgrounds are gone also taped off, concession stands where we would enjoy an ice creme where Closed and also under construction. Such a bad judgemental time to construct such projects. Couldve waited until fall to do construction. Unhappy i had to drive all the way there and everything be Closed.i guess only positive thing is you could prob go camping, dock your boat, and fish at the camp ground.bad the timing for construction. Fall would have been the right time for that.

Brendan P

It's fun and a great place but they are doing some construction on the roads right now so getting in takes about 20 mins of driving from the start of the park

Yagothedestroyer

I don't know if its budget constraints or what but in the last few years the trails have really gone to disarray. Overall nice park.

Trevor Griffis

The park is fine. Not a whole lot of specific sights to see but it is still pretty.

Renato 000

Great place to spend the day out doors.

Melissa Glassmyer

Great nature park. Walked for 3 hours. Trails need to be cut better but it was great blazing our own trail.

Carol Hare

Family-friendly area! Clean and well maintained campgrounds!

Benjamin Schlicher

Park employees are excellent, and it's a really nice spot to stay!... only reason for 4 instead of five stars is that we wish there were Water and Waste hookups at at least some of the sites.

Connor Bartel

Cause a nice catfish when I went. Had to be over two feet long and felt like five pounds lake could be stocked with more bluegill by the fishing pier by the dam. We didn't see many bluegills. Could at least be stocked with more bluegill in that area even if they leave. Other that great park . Anyone know how to catch walleye if there are any here???

Angie Ferguson

Anither favorite! Absolutely beautiful! Waterfalls, chase them!

Carrie Koster

Best kept secret in all of northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin! I absolutely love this park, paddling on Pierce Lake, and photographing all the spectacular beauty it has to offer. Stunning sunrise over Pierce Lake 3/31/19.

Dave Wilson

Very nice park. Good restaurant.

Chraita Johnson

First time to camp and we really enjoyed it

Jody Timmer

Campgrounds are well kept. Camp store has a great selection of items. Outhouses could use a good cleaning. Never seen them like this. Road construction going on near the dam so some roads and areas aren't accessible. Very noisy work on a Saturday in the park. :(

Abrianna Shaw

Very sad how the state just lets all the playgrounds turn to a ghost town and even the hiking and biking trails are cluttered! The stairs by the rock be careful because they are NOT all boarded either. It's sad to see a great family memory turn into a ghost town.

Rich Lockwood

Fun drive in the mountains but walking trails were limited

youttp1

We always have fun and were prepared for an adventure, however, no announcements online were given of the park being under construction, the bike paths and trail had fallen trees blocking bridges, and the posted maps were incongruous. We picked up a tick having to travel through the brush where the path was blocked and muddy. The concessions staff was excellent providing water since the fountains outside were not working.

Dave K

Nice park that is close to Chicago and has a great lake with a lot of trails. As of 9/2019 bridge is out over the dam. This makes hiking around the lake no possible, there is no signage letting you know this.

Diane L Goodin

One of our favorite parks. Beautiful Pierce Lake for fishing and beautiful views. Boat, kayak, canoe, and paddle boat rentals avaiable. Camping area is nice. Plus a small cafe for a bite to eat plus an ice cream treat. Some construction on roads happening now but will be all the better when completed.

Shane Conant

Great place to camp. The staff were so friendly and welcoming to us as first time visitors. Camp sites are a little close together but are good sized. There are a lot of activities to do in the park as well.

Jeff k

Time was, this was a well maintained park. Now for some unknown reasons, they stopped mowing all the trails on the north and far west to Northwest. I bet, if they'd ever reply, IDNR will say it's because the equestrian park is closed, therefore, almost every multi-use trail that includes equestrians is no longer maintained...if horse riders can't use them, no one else can. Mountain Bike trails are still in good shape, and trails in areas other than north, Northwest and west are getting maintenance attention in the last couple weeks.

John

Pretty cool place, if you like rocks and caves and such. Cool learning place for kids.

Mark Slater

Beautiful state park, clean and lots of activities to enjoy. Good place for families to enjoy the outdoors.

Karen GIAMBALVO

Lots to do and see. Huge state park. Great for families.

Jessica Holat

Great kayaking lake, nice spots to fish! Campground with and without electricity, a swimming lake. It's under construction but will be worth the trip out!

Jessica Bauer

Love that place in . I always have a great time when I'm there. It's been awhile since I've been able to go because of frighting cancer ! But it will be nice out soon and I can go hopefully and get some fishing in and some nice warm

Therese Mystere Deesse

I love this place!! It's so gorgeous!! There's always so much to do!! Every time I go there I always find something new to do or explore! Great family spot, romantic and single outing

Dave Dyer

Very convenient. Could use some upgrades in showers and restrooms.

HEK K.

We really loved the area- nice hiking areas with grades that were challenging but not too hard for myself & my sisters & hubby- all in our mid/late 60's and my daughter & her hubby. We really want to return and seek out even more wonderful geological wonders.

Laura Kidd

Amazingly beautiful area, loved it , can't wait to spend time together with my family

Nathanael McCombs

It’s a nice place to observe nature.

Sarah Jude

Beautiful wooded park with trails, pavilions, and numerous places to fish. Big lakes for boating activities as well.

Jeff Reuter

This is a great place to visit so wonderful park

KAL PATEL

Beautiful natural state park. Well maintained & safe.

Jorge Saavedra

Fantastic place to go paddle boating at! Highly recommended!

Matthew Mueller

So the park is beautiful but we had some other issues. Last weekend me and my daughter rode our bikes through here. The speed limit is 20mph and I doubt anyone obeys this. One car in particular almost hit us doing at least 30. Came within inches of hitting us on our bikes. I got in a verbal altercation with the driver. They need to mark bicycle lanes on the roads or something. Then we rented a paddle boat just me and my 2 year old. Got fitted for life jackets and then sat in the paddle boat to figure out that there was no way I would comfortably paddle this thing. Not meant for 6 foot 4 person and the guy out there agreed. Decided to rent a 14 foot motorboat instead and guy in the rental office wanted to charge me for a full hour of the paddle boat rental. I said we didnt even leave the pier and he said my time stamp said I had been out for 15 minutes. The 15 minutes was the time it took us to wait in the life jacket line! It wasn't alot of money but more the principle behind it. We will be back with hopes of a better experience next time though.

Alan Wagner

Park is under major construction this summer but we still enjoy biking hiking and kayaking.

Kayann Johansson

Has good trails for hiking and mountain biking.

Carl freeman

It's a park, nothing special. Conveniently close by

Christopher Kelly

This is a really nice park - but I look forward to when they finish the construction. I know these things are necessary, but wow, that place is trashed right now. The trails are rich, but rugged and there's a lot of mud and weeds and downed trees. Be prepared to climb, shimmy, duck, and skirt the edges of muddy paths. We set out for a 4 mile hike and got less than half way before ankle-deep mud made it impassable and we had to turn back. Aside from the construction and some needed trail maintenance, the setting is beautiful and in many places you can't even hear the highway or city noises. I'll try again in 2020.

jacob shurpit

It’s a nice park, but restroom locks were broken. Toilet seats that need to be replaced. Poison ivy all around the tent site camping perimeter. Widow makers over camping sites. Lots of over grown trails and down trees across them. IDNR had been neglected since the mid 90’s and it’s showing in our beloved State Parks. It’s time to bring back these landscapes and habitats by getting the sites the staff they need to up keep the park.

margaret russell

This campground is in need of much improvement of roads and camp sites. It's hard to find a level site and many are with out a designated pad. Some sites unusable due to soggy ground. The worst thing is the sound from the near by speed way race track you feel like you're setting right at the track. I prefer peace and quiet when I'm camping. Camped there in a motorhome.

Law enforcement Supporter

Went camping here for a couple of weeks lots of bluegill and bass. My mother caught a 1'4 decent size large bass off of cooked chicken. I caught like seven smallmouth bass off of dinger yum fake bait from Wal-Mart. The restroom/showers by site 300-331 are a lot cleaner than the other ones. The ramp for the dock in Hickory Hill (Where we camped) is broken. Because so many people asked me **You don't need a fishing license to fish here**

Robin Smith

Love the park, however the weather was not optimal. Still very relaxing and enjoyable!

A dub

Great state park. Camped here and had a blast.

Tyler Wingo

Overfished lake. Nice overall park. Although playgrounds are not safe and have been shut down in some places. Large camping area, nice trails.

Deb Boles

We have camped here for the last 10 years and for the last 5 there have been problems with the shower houses at least one has been without hot water or broken down and they both need done over with an update. Hopefully this can be fixed as we enjoy the park .

Hannah Terpstra

It's beautiful and well maintained, a little oasis away from it all. Go in the morning and hike trail 15 along Pierce lake for a quiet easy stroll

Lori Shinabarger

It is quite and so relaxed. The beautiful surrounding area is amazing. The roads do need to be patched for smoother driving and for pulling an RV but over all it is worth the money and the stay.

Arma Purdy

Beautiful park, didn't explore much by car, main road past boat launch is cut off for construction

Paige P

This has been one of my favorite state parks I have been to!

Marg Chauvin

This is a pretty, older park with great potential. There are many trails, restored prairies, two lakes, and beautiful campgrounds with spacious sites. At the larger lake is a boat launch, bait and gift shop, boat rental, and cafe; swimming and a dog run can be found at the smaller lake. The down side is maintenance. Though clean the bathhouses are old, stained, and need updating. With 40 miles of trails and a rainy summer we found several trails overgrown or needing attention to signs. The loop road is partially closed due to bridge reconstruction which impacts some trails with no warning.

Hannah Pripps

One of my favorite places. Lots of space and trails. Currently has some construction going on but most of the space is accessible. Beautiful park and lake!

david billa

Beautiful park. Camping is ok. Been working on the water for over year. Trash in the fire pits. 4th time here. Common folks get it together.

michelle d

Have always loved camping at Rock Cut. Nice sites, well groomed. There's been a bit of a little problem the past couple of years tho with their breakers popping. Hopefully they'll figure out what's causing it and get it fixed. Regardless, we'll keep coming back!

Jonathan Zarinnia

A nice park with equipment rental on ther north side of Rockford. There is a small restaurant and bait shop by the boat ramp.

Becky Lichty

Beautiful day for kayaking on Pierce Lake at rock cut!

Edna McWilliams

Sime of the roads were closed.making it a bit hard to get around the park ,but it was still a great weekend

Kevin Lundgren

Great place to walk or drive through.

Eamonn Talkington

This is the largest state park in Northern IL. 2 lakes, excellent hiking trails into pine and deciduous forests. Excellent food (with a beautiful view of Pierce Lake!!!) at the cafe and very reasonably priced bait and conoe/kayak/paddle board/motor boat rentals. Love it here if only just to get away from the city for a couple of hours.

Shailee Garg

Awesome experience and place for 1st time campers They have a lot of activities to do Boating kayaking canoeing paddle boating Paddle boarding and many more The hiking trails are green and beautiful The camp site is only 25$ per night. Every site has a fire-pit and picnic table. The concession store sells all utility items There is a camp store for each camp ground that sells wood ice and other utilities Bathroom and showers are clean and well maintained I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here

Wendy Pratt

Great place. Will be really nice when construction is done. Can not wait till horse campground and trails open again. Boat rental is reasonable price and very fun. Riding your bike is great too. Trails all over. Camp Grounds are very nice. But no water hook ups. There is electric hook ups and showers. Showers need up dating a bit . And floor drains need to be cleaned, they do not drain well. We did have a nice time here.

Panai

We had a great time camping and hiking here! The staff were nice and helpful, and the park itself was beautiful. I wish we had more time to explore it. The only downside was that one of the bathrooms did not have hot water, and the sinks didn't work, but the staff were up front about that when we made our reservation and seemed concerned about fixing the issue.

Dylan Rowe

Awesome place to take the fam out fishing or camping!

Jennifer Bush

We came here to camp for a night. I'm sure the lake and trails are beautiful but we were sorely disappointed with our campsite. Plum Grove is jam packed wall to wall with sites. We felt like we were at Lollapalooza. Some of the other areas like Staghorn and White Oak offered more space and shade and privacy but they were booked. At the prospect of contracting a disease from using the facilities and having to listen to hundreds of people party all night we just turned around and left.

Joanna Dowling

Miles of great hiking trails with wooded and prairie landscapes. Lake offers boating and a variety of rentals. Recommended for a quick local hike or as a regional destination.

Iris C Alvarenga

Very relaxing place to go with family..if you love hike, fishing, biking, here is the right place.

Mike Bianco

Nice hiking good fishing peaceful and relaxing

Eddie Afanador

Nice hike. Loved the views when the trail passed near water. Saw a lot of people fishing, canoeing, and paddleboarding. A few bridges were closed, wondering if they maintained them properly...

Justin

Best place to be outdoors within 50 miles, plenty of rental boats, hiking trails, wildlife and flora. the cafe on the other hand should be avoided. No hand washing, hairnets, or gloves. Ive seen people go from raw eggs to making someone a sandwich on the same surface with no regard to sanitation. Many things are microwaved and the wait time can exceed 20 minutes often resulting in cold food

Jeffb B

Looking a little run down ! Lots of dead trees should be removed and they aren't much on mowing and no weed whipping even under picnic tables and grills ? Not sure what's up which the lack of common maintanance ! We used to sail our hobie- cat out there 35 yrs. ago now we just kayak !

Morayma Da Silva

Lovely place in Rockford. Hiking and biking paths are beautiful

Michele Grey

Went there in our camper July 4th -7th, our camper does not have bathroom facilities so we had to use the facilities there. Well that happend once. Not 1 time was the bathrooms cleaned. Dead bugs on the toilets and worms of some kind in the shower facilitates. INSIDE THE WOMANS SHOWERS. BEWARE! I live in the area and was so embarrassed, I would never tell anyone to stay there. This is a State Park, our taxes go to maintaining these places and they look like this. YOU ALL SHOILD BE FIRED! the guy driving around in the white truck acting like he is doing his job especially, (Watched him blocking the road talking to girls in multiple camp sites) Get it together ILLINOIS! We have stayed in summer camps for our Boy scout group in Missouri that are cleaned by the boys and never saw something so outrageous.

Michael Getzendaner

Nice park with concession stand/restaurant, lake with fish and trails. Great for outdoor adventure!

Monick Gary

It's a good place to spend with family

sudeep br

It is hard to find trails but Olson beach is a good place to spend sometime

David Sheley

So much fun to explore the trails! You can rent kayaks and paddle boats, and there's a campground too.

Justine Landis

Nice campground, pit toilets and showers. Nothing great about it.

Harry Erickson

Great place for friends and family camping or just hanging out on the week ends

wayne beto

Once construction is complete it will be fun again

William enlgl

Reserved sight unseen 2 sites on the water. I dropped my wife and kids at six flags and headed to rock cut to set up the camp. I arrived and navigated the (roads) lol and made it to our sites. The smell I guess you could get used to but there was no way the kids could swim from the site due to the scum. I decided to wait to set up. I was guided around to the other side of the lake to the boat rental and dock. I checked the prices and was ok with the day price for a power boat so the kids could at least swim from the boat. So now I am getting more confident this would be a good trip. I was guided across the highway on the (roads) lol provided to the swim beach. Arived at the beach on a hot day and maybe 3 cars and 5 people at the beach but proced down the path and was stopped short of being at the water. There is a $5 charge to swim there. I questioned if the water was fairly clear and was informed we have it tested every 2 weeks and close the beach if it fails. Water is murky but it is a lake. 5 bucks is not bad for a day of swimming but said I think I'm just going to rent the boat so the kids can swim at anytime and I more clear water further out. He informed you you can't swim in that lake and if conservation warden catches you he will fine you. Are you kidding me if you can't swim in a lake there is a reason and I wont alow kids to swim there. Until that moment I had seen no signs (I'm sure they are there I just didn't see them) and read nothing on website. Needless to say I drove 2 hrs and 15 minutes north to devils lake set up camp drove 2 hrs 30 minutes to six flags picked up my wife and kids drove back 2hrs 30 minutes to camp. We got a good night's sleep and had a wonderful vacation. STAY AWAY.........

Todd Wellens

I ride in 7 states on a regular basis, Rock Cut offers the most trails and options for riding. Our local gem!

Gail Fisher

Roads are crumbling....staff does the best they can with what little money they have to work with. Illinois needs ti pay attention to the state parks. Price was raised to $17.50 some time ago. Democrats have run this state too long. It's time to remember this at the ballot box.

jas Blue

Spread out so you can experience nature at your own comfort level. Snack shack and bait shop. Come with nothing and can fix you up with fishing poles, kayaks, paddle boats or just sit and enjoy the breeze

Cody Blackford

Plenty of things to do outdoors. Beautiful and clean. Cannot wait for them to finish construction

Jor'ae Beaver

There was no hot water when we stayed there for a week, and there is a lack of bathrooms and showers. But the campsites are nice and there are a lot of different hiking trails that you can go hiking on.

sandy delaura

This park is a State Park. Very pretty. There are a lot of trails and wild life. Bikers are welcome camping area is kept clean. This camp ground is Well cared for.

Jim Duehr

Bathrooms were extremely unclean. All the water from the showers and sinks smelled like dissolved metals. The showers also were infested with moths and spiders as if they hadn't been used in ages. In at least one shower building, the hot water was off. Campsites were pretty secluded, fire rings were adequate.

Squad Piays

Beautiful there, but confusing. Wouldn't be surprised if you got lost trying to leave.

Jeff Davies

Complete trash, nearly 20 years of using the park it has never been this bad. Absolute zero trail maintenance, old deadfall everywhere and trails disappearing under the vegitation. Complete disrespect for public safety and all the hard work that went in to made Rock Cut a oasis in a sea of concrete and corn.

EV Kurywczak

Wonderful place to camp! Staff easily switch our plot to be in the shade (per request) and the facilities are decent. Showers were like any typical campsite showers, smelled of well water (like that sulfer/iron smell) but that's expected with camping. Very affordable and nice. Tent plots are a bit close together but not awful at all. Campsites DO have fire pits and grills are allowed. They have convinent cap store for those essentials you may have forgotten. Very nice family friendly place

Anthony Talarico

Huge place got lost on the mountain bike trails for hours lol loved it tho it is hard to find nice trails like that around here,or in Illinois for that matter lol

John Fanning

Nice hiking trails and off road bike paths. There is a campground, boat rental, bait shop and small restaurant. They hold running and fishing events.

Glorkar Floki

Busy park. No obvious visitor center or anywhere to grab a map. Not a bad park but other than the lake there's nothing remarkable about it.

Nice place to kayak or go boating. There is some construction and road closures :-(

Beautiful, scenic and well maintained park. Boating is always fun. Keep your mosquito repellent handy. We visit this place often during summer.

Great veiws and camping sites . always see wildlife here too .

Best camping around. Lake is very dirty right now. Possibly because of construction on the bridge or maybe they just never clean it. In 20 years I've never seen it this bad. Tons of seaweed along the shoreline. Kyackers have zero respect for people fishing on boats. Still highly recommended!

Paddle boating was fun for the family. They should offer some type of family discount or something special.

Nice hiking and biking trails and the campground is HUGE. The swimming beach had a lot of algae but the water was warm. You had to pay for the beach and you cant being food or drinks.

This park has it going on there is some construction only to make it better near term as well as long term. There are a multitude of Activities for all ages that are intrested in conservation and outdoor activities including water sports such as canoeing fishing And kayaking as well Rugged trails for walking and bike riding. There is also a wonderful little cafe in the Back in the rental area that serves good food coffee and ice cream as well as other things. Every once in a while it wouldn't hurt to skip the 173 corridor and go there and eat and be able to become one with the natural surroundings And Activities that the park provide. Camping And trails for horses are also something else available. Thank you for reading my review I know your time is worth something this review is worth exactly what you paid for it. The review is my honest opinion. I have visited here More than 20 times And it's always something a little different.

Great fishing and hiking destination for entire family

Nice little park with a good selection of trails. It never feels very remote but it is surrounded by highways on all sides, which makes it very accessible at least. Easy to get to stores nearby but the camp store also has a good selection of fairly priced items. I camped for two nights at Staghorn and I had a nice time. The campsites seem to be crowded on weekends but almost empty during after Sunday morning.

The people who work here are always helpful and go out of their way to make your stay great.

There wasn't alot to this park outside of a few picnic tables and a dock. But if you just want to have a nice afternoon with your son or grandson throwing a line in and having a soda and a sandwich then this is the place to go...

This is my favorite state park in Illinois. It has great hiking trails, two lakes (one with a beach, another for boats & fishing). The campgrounds are nice and the rates are very reasonable.
