This Park belongs to the category of National park.
The folks who work here are AWESOME! Great discussions about history.
The film about the park was very good.
A hidden gem in southern Indiana - important historical significance as to why the territory was not claimed for Canada, but became part of the United States. George Rogers Clark Monument is the largest national monument outside of Washington DC, and pays tribute to a very young but determined leader and troops.
Having a great time
I have been there one time and when inside when it was a hundred degrees outside and it was so nice and cool in there and then the pictures and then a little movie everybody should see that but what I'm saying is all I did was drive by and somehow it got my cell phone number this is t e RR the letter Y oh
What an adventure. This monument is phenomenal in structure and is beyond beautiful and majestic. The educational portion was worth the time. I highly recommend a visit.
Important history that's little known.
Have visited since a child and i never get tired of it.
Beautiful park
The river walk is very impressive.
Visited here for the Rendezvous and I enjoyed the reenactment of the battle and colonial era.
An excellent historical site!
Very interesting!
Unknown to most Americans, a fantastic person.
Well worth seeing. Did not know what to expect but came away very impressed and glad we went. Interesting history that is not mentioned much.
A lot of local history. Beautiful landscaping. It nice to just walk the grounds.
Tbh, it made me extremely uncomfortable to leave my full energy drink at the counter. Federal official or not, that's kind of creepy. Cool monument. Just don't bring drinks.
Beautiful part of history. Paintings are gorgeous!
Fun historical landmark. Very clean and great staff
Very interesting place. Fascinating information from friendly and knowledgeable park rangers.
Great , Beautiful Wall Murals, Excellent place to learn more about Vincennes's history and the role George Rogers Clark played in our settlement in the 1700s. A National Park service and employs Federal Rangers. These men and women can answer any questions you may have about this time in our history.

Great place to take pictures and do other quality stuff
What a beautiful monument and park. I brought my cousin's daughter for a day trip and we were both delighted. Very friendly rangers. Beautiful grounds.
Interesting collection of items and fact regarding a significant series of events that are rarely taught in school, but which were very important to the future of our country. When people think of the Revolution, they yho k of Valley Forge, Cowpens, Bunker Hill and Yorktown. Tell them an important battle was fought and won in Indiana by the colonists and most would not believe this fact.
It is a nice quite park
Love learning about history!
This historical site will always have a special place in my heart. I've been coming here every year since I was born for the Rendezvous and it never disappoints!
Surprising, key moment in our nation's history commemorated here! Worth the stop.
It was great and had some cool stuff to look at and see
Very nice place to walk by the river
Calm, comfortable and well kept.
Nice place to sit and have lunch
Nice historical place to learn about the capture of Fort Sackville from the British, a major turning point for the continental army.
Beautiful, historical, and peaceful.
Amazing place, really friendly staff and very interesting. One of the biggest monuments outside of DC so the craftsmanship of it is really special. Gives you great views of the river and is only a skip hop away from Illinois. Free admission and they have a head phone tour you can also take.
What a wonderful find! I’ve visited the forts and battlefields of the revolutionary war at Mackinaw Island Michigan and New Orleans, I don’t recall being taught in class about this part of the revolutionary war in Indiana!?!?!?! ... It’s small , but still packed with beauty and history, and a lot to offer. No remnants of the fort is left though , just pictures and imagination. As usual the park rangers were knowledgeable and personable. Unfortunate more remnants and land could not be saved from the revolutionary war as was from the civil war.
This is a beautiful area with a gorgeous bridge and a lovely Rotunda and Monument to Vincennes role in American history and the role of George Rogers Clark. I Highly recommend when you're driving through to take time off of the highway to see it.
Impressive! Beautiful! Informative! Rangers were well prepared to answer questions. Would return.
It's a great place to visit and learn about historical events
Had a great visit here. Nice Ranger to go on tour with. Spend over an hour.
Interesting Monument
Loved it, full of history and staff on sight where very helpful. Took my 8 year old because she loves history. She enjoyed the time, and learned a bunch.
Beautiful monument and park.
This a really nice property of the National Park Service. Pamela Nolan was the ranger on duty today. The is very knowledgeable and passionate about the George Rogers Clark Memorial. She can tell the story very well and keep you attention.
wonderful park & church. picturesque..beautiful grounds, next 2 Wabash River.. inside bldg. has old murals & the bldg is spectacular. if nothing else a very relaxing walk.
If you have never visited Vincennes you must go and take it in the short movie at the visitors center B4 going through the memorial.
Awesome fireworks, very nice staff at park ranger building
Great bit of history here that you didn't hear about in school. The tour didn't take too long and still gives you a good idea of what transpired here years ago. Very glad I checked it out.
Very nice park!!
Awesome fireworks!
Nice and relaxing park.
Has good historical info about the revolutionary war period. Monument dates back to the 1930s. Audio presentation available inside the monument.
1st time to the annual Rendezvous & will be making it an annual event. Vendors very friendly & happy to share stories of how they make their products accurate to the time period of the 18th century. Very informative, food vendors were very fair with prices & local boy scouts with a wagon of ice cold water for $1 were easy to find. Aside from the 92° weather it was a perfect day!
We always love the Rendezvous. Fun for the whole family
Great visit, really great people working there
What awonderful piece of history!!!
I had never been to Vincennes before and we decided to visit for a the Latino festival. We didn't realize that the memorial was a National Park, so it was our first trip to a National Park. The grounds are beautiful and it was absolutely gorgeous. The small museum inside the park building was informative and the staff was friendly. The memorial was lovely and I look forward to going back.
Nice place to get away to.
Grounds are well kept up and the history behind it was very educational.
On a cold mid February day in 1779 our nation doubled in size after the capture of Fort Sackville. The Church seen sits at the spot where the French occupants of the town vowed to stay out of the fight then swore loyalty to the then young United States.
An extremely underrated, but important historical site. Very knowledgeable rangers. It is worth taking an hour to visit.
Very interesting and informative place, with a view of the Wabash River and lots of lawn to let kids run and play. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the history and culture of the era. Had a great time!
Plan to see the movie at the visitor center and tour the memorial building which has enormous paintings depicting significant events of the period. Also see the nearby Indian mound where you can see the memorial from a few miles away. Rich in history
So cool! We really just stopped for the passport stamp. What a huge and intricately beautiful monument in such an unexpected place. This is a great stop to learn about a piece of history you probably missed in school- I know I did! Go inside the monument for some breathtaking views!
Beautiful and relaxing place to walk around
A very impressive installation to memorialize an often-overlooked revolutionary war turning point. The video and staff [kudos to Pamela]are very informative.
George Rogers Clark is one of our unsung heroes. Go and learn his story. He stated our first special ops unit!
The only Federal Monument in the Mid West. Great 4th of July fireworks show. Museum on location, as well as Old Cathedral Church, and the Memorial Bridge. Just off the Wabash river. Good place to skip stones. Good place to fly rc planes and helicopters plenty of open air space in town. Good place to ride a bike or skateboard.
What a Gorgeous park set on the scenic Wabash River with one of the most beautiful and impressive monuments I've ever seen outside of Washington D.C.! Along with the Francis Vigo Statue and the new Sieur De Vincennes statue on the north side of the park, it truly makes this one of the best historic parks in the state. And don't forget the awesome Lincoln Bridge too!
Horribly underused national landmark. Town itself doesn't care about it but it's a great place to learn, and an even better place to relax with friends and watch a sunset.
Worth visiting!
Beautiful Place
Lots of history and nice workers. The area is well taken care of
Beautiful monument along the Wabash
Very interesting and informative park rangers telling the story of a battle i had never heard of. Glad we went and learned about this part of history.
What a beautiful Monument to our Men at Arms who helped preserve and make us a Nation. Visiting the Monument while open is imperative for it is an impressive tribute George Rogers Clark and the men who served under him. The Grounds are well maintained and beautiful.
Was great. Needed more than an hour and a half to see everything to properly absorb it all. History of not only the church but parts if the town, surrounding areas and Indiana. Just do much to take in.
Very nice and well maintained. Great walk along the river. Has great benches and nice pergolas. Few swings to relax in along the way too.
A lil piece of history. Good time!!
It's beautiful and interesting
Great place to visit.
Ranger extremely knowledgeable
This is a beautiful park. Our family has used different spots around the park as backdrops in pictures many many times. For many years we have always attended their battle reenactments there as well. Ever Memorial Day they reenact the Revolutionary War , with food to eat, and shows and events to watch, and boooths with various things to buy. Almost everything is handmade in the tents and everything has the Revolutionary War theme there in the tents.
Beautiful monuments, great history, surrounded by the Wabash River. Everything was neat and clean, the park rangers friendly and helpful. The bridge from Indiana to Illinois was stunning. I’m going again.
Historic park on the walbadh river.
Great staff and beautiful monument.
The best place to be for fire works
An often overlooked National Historic Park, with an impressive monument on the Wabash River. Small in acreage, but important in frontier history, it's free to visit and walk the grounds. Great for kids and adults alike.
Great to learn about Midwest history. Lewis and Clark, President William Henry Harrison, and Fort Sachville.
Just to say if your into Pokemon this is a great place to go with your family and friends
Such American history here.
Wish we had arrived sooner, but we had a great visit and got some wonderful photos.
My husband, grandson, and I were at the Rendevous on the park grounds. We all had a good time.
It was a nice stop to make. Peaceful and pretty
Beautiful view from the Wabash river !
Loved it.
A great location for the Rendezvous! So much space and easy access to parking.
Great History
Outstanding site...rivals monuments in Washington DC. Plus the Indiana Military Museum and William Henry Harrison home are things to see also.
Beautiful monument on the Wabash River in downtown Vincennes, next to the old Cathedral.
Informative and fun
Yeah fam I come here to cry at night so.. ya
Very historical and informative
Wonderful place to visit, amazing historical town to enjoy
This is one of the finest National Parks I have ever visited. Very educational and interesting. Not to mention it is in my neighborhood.
Awesome! Learned so much. Definitely worth going to visit!
My home town vincennes Indiana with loads of historic values
i stumble on the site and i'm sure glad i did. the monument was shutdown because of ice but it was still something to see. i couldn't believe in how huge it was. lucky the visitor center was still open and i got a very nice history lesson by these two ladies. i don't now what was better the monument or the ladies. i think i was there for at least an hour talking with two of the best people in Indiana. they were fun and a joy to talk with. when they ask me where i was from one of the ladies was from NY too. the funny thing is we both grow up just a few towns apart. i really hated to leave but i had one more stop to make then continue my drive to ohio before i made my last drive back to NY. it was a joy learning and talking about all kinds of things with them. i felt i was leaving some friends behind when i left. the ladies were so nice and gave me hug goodbye. it was very nice to see how proud they were of Indiana history and how much they like working there. it made my visit that much more enjoyable. this is a great site. don't pass it by.
I love the history and beautiful murals. Although we couldn't find a ramp for wheelchairs or strollers
Friendly Rangers, Clean Bathroom, Nice Movie
It's much better expierence with a few friends , too many it's crowded and smug
Beautiful history
The guides REALLY know their stuff when it comes to this park.. If you are in the area you should def. check this place out.
Incredibly awesome! If you haven't paid at least one visit to this jewel in the middle of the mid west and farm land, you will be quite surprised at it. The ranger staff are super nice and very knowledgeable. A treasured and very important piece of local history. A great couple hours spent for the whole family. Admission free. Donations welcome.
The memorial is set in a beautiful park along the Wabash River. There is a visitor's center with interesting artifacts and displays and an excellent 30 minute film that explains the complicated history of the area very well.
Very neat place, we stopped because it was part of the National parks system and ended up learning a lot related to Indiana and the revolutionary war. Only took us about 1.5 hours to do the visitor center, watch a movie (highly recommend) and walk around the monument. There is more to see but time was a factor for us today. If you are in the neighborhood I recommend checking out this park.
Very nice museum
Great place to the history of Indiana.
Great historical visit.
We went for a field trip it was educational!
Cool place. Lots of history.
Get place to visit.
Loved it!
Beautiful place to watch fireworks! Great show and perfect place to bring family!
Had no idea this monument was out here, so it was great to visit, and the size of the thing is astounding!
Nice place
This was a great stop. We got a personal tour of the memorial from a park service employee. The battles this commemorates are the difference between WI, IL, MI, IN, and OH speaking English instead of French.
Beautiful place to visit.
Great place had a blast
Very informative place great view
Interesting memorial to one individual that is instrumental towards the creation of the state of Indiana and the expanded nation as well.
Always interesting. I forget how huge and detailed it is. Ranger's discussion is helpful.

We had a personal tour of the monument with a knowledgeable and passionate Ranger that made the history come alive surrounding the value of Clark's important contribution to the America we know and love.
It was nothing big, but you could feel the historical presence there..
I think there is a Civil War Reenactment taking place. Beautiful city with a rich history
Incredible momument
If you like history and architecture, this is a great place to visit. They also installed a little walkway beside the river, so it's a nice place to wall your dog and let the kids play.
Very nice and clean.
Clean, historic, and impressive in size for the area
Quite nice and full of history. Great if you want to learn about this great country and state.

I enjoy the the history of this memorial. But a great time to visit is the Saturday or Sunday before Memorial day. That is when they have the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezous. Lots of living history of the Revolution War during the two days.
