Deer scouting and nostalgia trip today. Had a good time exploring country that I haven't seen for years.

Sashia Duncan

Hands down on of my favorite places. There are public restrooms, which make it a plus for sure. Main reason for my love of this place has too be the birds. Such beautiful birds from day to night. Great spot for a tranquil walk and drawing. Surprisingly the birds aren't too shy, when your quiet and observant. Have had many bitds sit and pose for me long enough too sketch them out. Great experience each time I go visit.

A beautiful, wild yet accessible place. Good roads, well staffed. Take the Pronghorn loop drive. We found a herd of 6 at the far south end. Birds galore.

Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge(Buenos Aires NWR) provides 117,107 acres (473.92 km2) of habitat for threatened and endangered plants and animals. The refuge was established in 1985. The semidesert grassland supports the reintroduction of masked bobwhite quail and pronghorns. Prescribed and natural fires play a major role in maintaining and restoring the sea of grass that once filled the Altar Valley. Riparian (wetland) areas along Arivaca Cienega and Arivaca Creek attract an abundance of birds. Brown Canyon, to the west of the Arivaca Creek area, is nestled in the Baboquivari Mountains, where a sycamore-lined stream meanders through oak woodland.

Great place to learn about the wildlife in the great state of Arizona. Friendly and helpful staff can guide you through and teach you about the animals that live in the park such as pronghorn, mule deer, white-tail deer, and even mountain lions. Learn about their project to restore the masked bobwhite quail population back to southern Arizona.

Visited there 1/2014 & walked thru the whole refuge. The bad part is when you come to the end of the trail it brings you out to a county road & you have to walk another 2 miles back to where you parked. The little town of Arivaca was kind of neat, but by the time you get there to see it after the refuge walk you're pretty tired out.

Pablo Moreno

Peaceful clean heat view

It's a lovely area with a couple small herds of antelope and at least one coyote. Camping is all dry but has a lot of large sites with big stone fire rings. It is within 10 miles of the border, but we saw no signs of border crossers. Border Patrol was also not visible except at their checkpoint on the road.

Michelle Helzer

Great place to check out, staff/volunteers are super friendly.

Chuck Tracy

Visitor Ctr. was closed on Veterans Day, but the refuge is always an awesome place to come and see unspoiled nature. 180,000 + acres of protected land with hiking trails, over 80 primitive campsites, driving trails, hunting, educational info and more. Definitely a good day (or longer) trip to get away from the bustle.

Great place to go camping if you want to get away from everyone and everything. Primitive camping, beautiful sights. Hopefully they will clear out some of the mesquite, and help bring back the Pronghorn antelope. Otherwise there are lots of mule and white tail deer, coyotes, rabbits, even skunks to see. There are some foxes, bobcats and mountain lions also but those are less likely to see. Its one of the best places for bird watching.
