We have the opinions of people like you who are buying the products of Lapakahi State Historical Park (Park) near Hawaii.
Nowadays the business receives a rating of 4.5 over 5 and that score is based on 265 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings is almost the best, and it's founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may say that the assessment is very credible. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to write reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Park corresponds to the category of State park.
Great little Park, history of the first people's.
Great place to stop and learn some history.
Such fantastic evidence of historic culture preserved....was awesome to see.. and the bright yellow school of fish was a treat! !!
A sad and haunting place. Somber reminder of a terrible tsunami
Great place
Very informative park with fantastic views of the ocean and friendly, knowledgeable staff. We were only able to stay for 20 minutes but would have loved to explore the park further.
Loved it.
Fantastic place to learn about early Hawaiian culture. Stunning view. Take snorkeling gear. Best snorkeling spot we found!
Free self-guided tour through the remains of an old Hawaiian fishing village.
A serene place to watch and listen to the ocean. Not crowded. Restrooms in the parking area.
Great place to stop and gain some knowledge. Stunning place and the man who was working there when we arrived was very friendly and even said there are some amazing snorkelling place close by, but unfortunately we didn't have any gear.
Lapakahi State Historical Park is a large area of ruins from an ancient Hawaiian fishing village in North Kohala. Visitors can learn about traditional Hawaiian culture through the partially restored remains of this ancient Hawaiian coastal settlement.
Fun area with some island history and good views
The historic village is nice to explore....interesting to learn about how people were living some 600 yrs ago on the big island...Snorkeling at its best but entering the water can be a challenge for some...be carefull and enjoy...
Really pretty spot with some interesting history.
Much love
A very unique free ocean side park. Path takes around 45 minutes to walk, it takes you close to the ocean. Sometimes the path is closed after a rain. We saw several whales jumping off the shore.
Nice, well maintained trail. It's a fairly easy hike. I wore my slippahs & did fine. Probably best to wear your sturdy shoes (bring your slippahs). Take your snorkeling gear! Lots of coral on the shore, not really a sandy beach. It's an area where seals congregate per the signs but we didn't see any. Bring water it gets warm- 91° on Aug 1st, not much of a breeze either when we did a later after noon hike. Park closes @ 4pm. Security guards very friendly. This is a beautiful, we'll maintained hidden gem-sacred-like & very peaceful!
Beautiful spot to see a stretch of coastline and imagine what it was like to be an ancient Hawaiian. There are lots of low stone walls and a couple of reconstructed dwellings. There are two self guided loops: 0.5 miles and 0.3 miles. You can get in the water at one spot if you want to. The water is nice and cool on a hot day and the rocky shoreline is nice because you can dry off without getting sandy.
Great spot to take in some history and sit down to watch whales.
Very cool info. Worth checking out.
Beautiful Hilo Hawaii
You can learn a lot of history on this hour journey. The path is easy to navigate and they provide maps with the history by the numbers on the exhibits. Ancient Hawaiian culture plain and simple. A must see if you are anywhere near this park. Make sure you go early the park closes at 4!
Nice leisurely walk around a historic site
An easy hike to see a village from 600 years ago.
A must to walk through. So much history. Wonderful place.
Beautiful! A long and winding road, but worth every minute!
Beautiful
My New Happy Place
Loved it very pretty
(Translated by Google) It is still a facility under construction. We are trying to reproduce the old fishing village, but from the parking lot to the exhibition facilities will walk the road of dirt about five minutes. Scenery and atmosphere I think very good, but I think very for small children.
Impresionante
We'll done. Not disabled friendly. Very hot hike in the afternoon.
Beautiful spot, interesting ruins but there were no maps or key for the NUMBERED spots on hike. No way of knowing what you are looking at.
Enjoyed the walking tour through history. Paths are rough so wear good walking or hiking shoes.
Beautiful
still love learning all i can about earlier periods
This place is awesome. Hawaiian culture preserved. Those who state this is not a must see, please continue on to scenic vistas, luau, and zip lining. Mahalo to the State of Hawaii for preserving this Hawaiian fishing village so I can show my keiki and mo'opuna their heritage.
Fairly easy walk, lots of historical sites, beautiful location. We were only here one time, and the waves were rough. At least on the day we were here, it was not a good place to get into the water.
Very much enjoyed my visit. The natural pathway hike was amazing. Thanks for taking such good care of the artifacts and history of the island.
History was cool, train was nice, very quite, not many people there.
I'm sure this place is nice, but when we went here all the trails were closed, what a bummer. There was no indication it was closed the until we got there. Next time I'd call in advance to see if it's open.
Great place for views photos and hiking.
Nice .5 mile hike
Hot, remote
A bit of a drive from Kona so not many people are there compared to other places on the island. A nice look at ancient Hawaiian settlers and how they lived and built their homes
A great place to visit and a large old Hawaiian village to see. Can see Maui on a clear day.
There was a lot of sun, but also like quite a bit of water.
Easy hike. Great views.
So very interesting. Doesnt take long and well worth the time.
Great historical experience
Interesting place to see how the Polynesians lived in the last centuries. Information tables are a bit short but give some basic understanding. Bring your swimming gear as there is a rocky beach with heaps of fish.
Nice historical spot.. An easy education walk with a nice ocean view.
Despite the opposite opinions this is a stunning place. Visit. ****
Great historical significance
Interesante, aunque duro de hacer porque hacía mucho calor. El "recorrido" está sin señalar, son vallar y acondicionar como si lo suele estar otros en Hawai
Lots of history to be found here! The remaining foundations of the village and its history was interesting.
What a great park with history. The park is free to enter and explore. When you pull in you don't see or get the full grasp of what you are about to walk on and around. The trail through Lapakahi has 2 loops and you can do either or both. Both is about 0.8 miles and is best for the full experience. Grab a trail map at the unoccupied building which will navigate you and tell you about each of the sections. The views are incredible and learning about history 700 years ago was very interesting.
5 stars for the preservation of this place, Lapakahi & all things hawaiian
Interesting.
Great place to view fish and swim in the waves.
(Translated by Google) Very worth seeing, and very meticulously designed trail - perfect place to watch a sunset ... (Original) Sehr sehenswert, und sehr liebevoll gestalteter Rundweg - perfekter Ort um einen Sonnenuntergang zu beobachten...

Liked the park, very rustic. Wear good waking/hiking shoes
Great place to take a stroll.
Love this area, interesting history, enjoy the drive. Enjoy walking the trails.
The trail can be a little hard to follow around at times, and I wish it had actual bathrooms instead of port-a-pots, but it was an extremely interesting park and we were lucky enough to see two monk seals playing in the water for quite a while. We also saw a dolphin or two out in the water.
Great place to visit and walk through an old village of Hawians built over 200 years ago. Stop and walk the trails. Map is supplied on site which explains what is there.
Liked it, but path a little confusing and rugged to walk on. Have good shoes.

Love to know more about Hawaii History
Wear walking shoes, very enlightening of Hawaiian history.
Beautiful, self guided tour about 30-45 minute walk.
This site was worth every FREE minute we spent there. It took an entire morning to read and explore the village. This was one of the best things we saw on the island.
(Translated by Google) Ok for a short stop. (Original) Für einen kurzen Stopp ok.
Scenic, quiet, and most of the tourists don't go there.
Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water
OK place to stop if you are around the area unless you have a pretty deep interest in Hawaiian history. Decent views of the ocean however it didn’t “wow” me with the historical features.
(Translated by Google) Parking lot is not so wide, but free. And you can take a tour for free. This place is very scenic and quiet. While walking around in a relaxing way while watching the map, it will take about an hour. Imagining the lives of old Hawaiians who lived in this desolate earth, blowing strong winds, my heart was full on my way home.
So beautiful!
Beautiful
CLOSED from Oct 26-28, 2018. Rated 2 stars because there was no information about the closure on the County of Hawaii's website.
Nice
This is probably the best thing we saw on the north west coast. Great views of Maui and really cool stuff. Easy to access, short hike, probably the best native Hawaiian stuff we saw.
Culture is the theme here and it's on full display when you wonder the grounds.
Very cool
Really nice historic side! Beats walk!
Good place for a short stop when driving along the coast, restrooms and water fountain. Chance to see an old Hawaiian fishing village (mostly ruins) and get a short walk in. Also: access to a clean restroom!!
Beautiful location!
Great cove for snorkeling.
This place has an eerie and deeply powerful quality. Touching the deep past.
Beautiful views from any angle!!
Well-maintained Trails great views.
Very interesting walk through time. Fascinating history. A cool village at one time along the ocean shore, making fishing and harvesting a pretty reliable lifestyle I’m sure. Stone walls, old ways to launch the canoes. Remains of houses, kitchens, boat launches, and healers houses.
Beautiful
Lapakahi State Historical Park is a large area of ruins from an Ancient Hawaiian fishing village in the North Kohala District on the Big Island of Hawaii. Offshore is the Lapakahi Marine Life Conservation District. Lapakahi State Historical Park is a most to see and learn more about the history of Hawaii. Take a one mile, self-guided tour of this 262-acre park and see restored hale (houses) and lava stone walls, then play traditional Hawaiian games and learn more about life in early Hawaii. The park’s rocky shoreline also faces the Lapakahi Marine Life Conservation District although swimming is not encouraged. Because the Kohala Coast can get hot, the best time of day to visit is in the morning or later in the afternoon. The name lapa kahi means "single ridge" in the Hawaiian Language, and applied to the ahupuaʻa, an ancient land division that ran from the sea up to Kohala Mountain. Historical park on the site of a 600-year old traditional fishing village. Great for picture taking, hikes, education and learning, sight seeing.
What a beautiful place
Wonderful site to learn about how the original inhabitants lived. Be sure to wear good shoes, the trails are a bit rough.
Can watch amazing sunsets here and whales
Very nice snorkeling
Great history
Krátký trail , nahlédněte do historie

Interesting history and great place to snorkel
It's fun but not really enthralling for much more than a 15-20 min pit stop. Lots of reading as it is self - guided. Glad we learned some history for sure, though.
Great stop Loved the views
On a clear day this place is very hot and windy. The sights are amazing though and well worth the stop and hike. A great snorkeling spot is also here and also worth checking out.
Beautiful area to hike
Well worth the time. Beautiful spot.
Great place to see whale and the beautiful blue Pacific!
Here there are the ruins of an ancient Hawaiian fishing village. Very much worth a visit to learn about the history of the area.
#WenWeLoVedUs... We had such a great time... It has cherished memories for me, to discover places such as this with you...m
Knowledgable
(Translated by Google) Small National Park, little visited, lots of nature, where you can admire the humpback whales from November to March (Original) Kleiner Nationalpark, wenig besucht, viel Natur, in der man von November bis März die Buckelwale bewundern kann
A short walk (8/10 mile) over a stone lined trail . There is a short cut option reducing the distance to 1/2 mile. There are several benches if you need a break. Do not set on the walls. This ancient settlement was mostly abandoned in the 1800s. The remaining artifacts give you an idea of about life in Lapakahi. There are no attendants on site. There is one porta-john.
Stumbled upon this. Way cool! Bring water and a hat
Very cool to stand where someone else has stood 600 years ago.
Old Hawaiian history, look closely, there are many details to catch. Recommended comfortable and closed shoes.
Fantastic history and beautiful views!!
Really cool historical spot. But make sure you bring water. Very hot. Not easy to get in water if you where planning to snorkel. Could see the fish from the shore.
Historical and informative. Looks like western Texas. Alot of desert in Hawaii.
Great experience gentle walk. You can literally feel what the villagers may have felt. Road less traveled worth the time.
Awesome self guided .5 mile hike. Lots of history and information. Really pretty views. Take water will be hot, I don't recommend wearing slippers. Sneakers or boots for sure.
Every where on the Big Island was amazing
An informative example of village living. Beautifully scenic
Nice Place...
It's hot and getting a little run down. Maybe if they sunk some more money into it and had staff on site it would be worth another trip. Not again for us.
interesting. Pretty good place to snorkel as well
Awesome historic spot. Cool 600 yr old fishing village
Nice stopping place to read about the area's history. Pretty easy, short hike.
Everyone visiting Hawai'i, whether as a guest or former resident/ local should experience as much of the Hawai'ian culture as possible. This us just one of many and although unguided, it is also free and an easy walk to set it all.
What a cool place! It's so neat to be able to learn about the ancient Hawaiians and how they lived. I lived that it was a self good tour so our family could go as slow or quickly as we wanted they the ruins. It was so interesting to learn some history about where we are.
Nice view
Not a must visit. There are plenty of scenic Vistas and nature trails before and after this spot. however this place is good to go on a short ocean lining trail
Very interesting, free, historical Hawaiian village with a nicely informational and maintained trail. The beautiful views didn't hurt either! Not a lot of shade though so bring sunscreen.
The most beautiful bird water beaches its #1 on the big island
Beautiful, informative, nice stop along the highway.
Great, isolated park. Hardly any tourists. No real beach, just rocks to sit around. Water clear and pristine.
Beautiful and lovely.
Love this park. Historic, yet not very busy, walk along the ocean, sit and watch the waves crash on shore. Peaceful.
Fun little historical site. Stopped by on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Has a self guided tour you can follow. Total of the loop is under a mile. Has some benches along the way to stop and relax. Would wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle.
(Translated by Google) Okay, but it closes very early, please note opening times otherwise you will be included. (Original) Ganz Okay aber schliesst sehr früh, Öffnungszeiten beachten sonst wird man eingeschlossen.
A very interesting sight! We stumbled upon this by accident driving down the highway on a lazy day, and I'm glad we did! We were there on a sunny day, and the atmosphere or wandering an ancient village on a sunny day while the waves crashed against the shore was INCREDIBLE. I will forever remember the snapshot moment of sitting on a bench there, facing the ocean waves crashing against rocks, with the wind whistling through the grass behind me (see the picture!)
Beautiful historic site.
(Translated by Google) In Historical Park it can be found in the ruins and buildings of indigenous peoples. But better still cool sea ditch leading landscape too. A place where you can leave life shot We recommend you do not have a shade too hot to care sseusineunge sunscreen. Photo jjikeumyeo course, as we like to look around one turn.
