REVIEWS OF Ho‘okena Beach Park IN Hawaii

rachael phelan

Wonderful place to send the day. Mellow crowd and very swimmable.

Jimmy Crumpton

Nice, lotsa rocks be careful.

Jody Pruitt

We always camp here when in hawaii.

Brianna Davis

Good place to do some snorkeling! Saw a lot of fish and a few sea turtles! The sand here is almost black. It's not the cleanest beach, but it was super cool to go to and do some snorkeling!

Tabitha Womack

Beautiful and clean. Unfortunately, Locally run and corrupt. I live here. I had a dispute with one of the "security/managers" of the park. I wanted to be treated with respect and he disagreed. Out of spite, he made up a story about me breaking rules. I wrote a letter to the board and discovered that they're all his friends and family. So I've been banned forever from camping at my favorite beach in the world, for resisting bullying. So be prepared to be treated with disdain from parking to check out without defending yourself. This experience was only with one man. The rest were really nice.

Tessa Patriquin

Beautiful beach great for snorkelling and swimming. Has parking, restrooms, showers and picnic tables.

Greg P

Great topography out there for snorkeling with loads of fish. Has something for everyone here- from boogie boarding to full sun beach to shade.

Greg Robertson

Nice beach park with local fishing fleet's outboard powered outrigger fishing boats all lined up and ready to go. A rare insight to Hawaiian contemporary culture. No doubt suppliers to the "poke" restaurants dotting the region. Camping park now run on behalf of the county who previously managed it, same rules no doubt.

Forrest Churchill

Black sand beach with clear water and onsite camping. $20 a night per person for non residents and $5 for residents. Has kayak and snorkel rentals as well as a small concession stand.

S

Parking is bad. Such a small parking area you have to walk.

Bill Ferrin

Great little beach, not alot of parking. Good snorkeling, sand, and tide pools

Ashlie Thorburn

A nice beach park with amenities. Grills, showers and restrooms. It looked like kayaks and SUP can be rented at a small concession on the beach. Camping is allowed at this beach. My kids loved gathering lots of coral that was washing up. We also saw sea turtles here

Justin Holstead

Beautiful beach!

DAVID BUZBY

Remote, dolphins often playing...TLR

Yvonne Cantrell

Strong under current

lance & bianca yamamoto

One of my favorite beaches. The Uncle's down there take such good care. The facilities are phenomenal with warm water showers, clean bathrooms. And of course the beach is beautiful!

Gary Butler

Great remote beach. It can be very hot with the sand being black, but there are nice shade areas with picnic tables. Camping available too .Locals love this beach too!

Helen He

A great hidden treasure. The drive down was really fun -great views and we saw lots of animals! The beach is small and quaint, not sure how lively it gets as we went at 7am. We saw dolphins!

Chad Husted

This beach has beautiful fine, grey sand, crystal clear water and plenty of sea life. It’s pretty compatible to Two Step right down the road, but with better amenities. There are hot showers, and sea turtles eating off the rocks right as you enter into the water. Probably one of the best little hidden gems on the island.

Joyce Murray

Beautiful black sand beach! So glad we came to this beach on our trip, and will try to go again before we leave. Not as many people as is expected on such a beautiful beach. Water is clear; saw plenty of people snorkeling; bathrooms are on site.

Richard Sacay Sr.

It is still beautiful and it's one of the last kona beach.

Charles Boss

Nice beach. Has parking, showers, restrooms, picnic tables, and nice swimming with fish.

Tim Nolen

This is a nice beach. The road in sucks, and the parking was chaotic.

Bonnie Beaver

Great beach. We took some charcoal and cooked a meal with friends to watch the Hawaiian sunset. There is overnight camping too! Boogie board rentals there as well as kayaks. A rest room with showers. Great beach!!

Ryan Berry

Beautiful spot to spend a day in Hawaii

Kelly Harrison

Lovely place to camp except some campers don't obey the rules, like no smoking on the beach or campsite.

Jonathan James

Spectacular place, snorkling with dolphins.

Leslie Lothamer

Sandy, good for swimming and kids. Not crowded!

mostsleek

Awesome "local" park. Parking can be tight on the weekends

Porschia Kaiser

Absolutely beautiful, lots of humuhumunukunukuapua'a swimming around. Great surf spot.

Linda Schultz

Awesome beach .big waves. Long winding road .great place to see dolphins. Local hangout. Thanks for sharing it with everyone.

Melinda Proffitt

Absolutely a must visit. Had a blast swimming just be smart when entering & exiting the water.

Pika Manibusan

Fun beach spot...although the parking is tight.

Amanda Lavoie

This is definitely a locals beach. Lots of families here enjoying the swimming. We found the snorkeling to be excellent! Both the left and right sides had great reefs with lots going on. There is a stand where you can buy food or rent equipment. There is shade, though much of it is taken up by camping. It's a black sand beach (more like dark grey sand), so bring flip flops!

Khang Nguyen

Strong waived and war water

Stephen Wilton

Beautiful beach and camping area. If you come early in the morning you might be able you see spinner dolphins. Great area for snorkeling as well. Get there early for a parking spot... Very limited parking.

Laura Knight

Great place to snorkel. Seen some turtles, 3 huge eel the size of a human. A eagleray, tons an tons of fish. No dolphins :( but was very beautiful. Free parking, hot showers, very nice.

Abigail Cortez

Of the beaches we visited, this one was my favorite as far as scenery goes. The water was very comfortable and since it is more rocky, it was filled with more ocean life so perfect for snorkeling! The tide was a bit strong and high when we arrived, but was manageable. The beach becomes less rocky if you move further west on the coast. Be advised, though, if you go during a stronger tide, wear water shoes because my friend cut her foot when a wave dragged her across the rocks. Other than that, awesome beach! Just exercise common caution

Debbie Morris

Wonderful beach with sea turtles and spinner dolphins. The sand is nice but there is lava rock in the water. You want to wear the right shoes.

Nox Twilight

Always the best camping and beach experience on the Big Island. Staff is excellent. Facilities are clean and we'll maintained.

Rebel Ebell

Great Beach for the kids doesn't pick up any big surf always got small small waves for the keiki. Great Beach and you don't have to worry about keeping an eye on your kid out in the water because there's never any surf

Joel Goodness

A relatively quiet beach at the end of about 2 miles of winding narrow road. Only parking for maybe 20 cars for beach goers. 6-10 camping sites also have parking. Snack bar, bath house and changing room. Rocky/coral bottom with lots of fish to see snorkeling.

Patsy Hashimoto

My fave ... We live here. Home of abouts over 30 spinner Dolphins and Seaturtles !!!! Now if people could follow rules and not anker their boat in the Dolphins area and or chase them .... Very illegal here ... Then this is the perfect beach for adults and kids !!!

celeste gerber

Great Snorkeling spot, great sand beach, please keep it clean !

Jessy Geurts

Awesome Beach. Nice facilities. Parking is challenging.

Nick Lopez

Super cool spot and the snorkling is amazing here. You might also get some dolphins sightings if you are lucky. Have fun and stay safe. A super local spot if you don't know the place.

Alice Tobin

One of my favorite beaches in S. Kona. Water is always crystal clear, beautiful seascape for snorkel, turtles are frequently there. AND there is Solar hot water for shower. One of the few beaches that allows camping. Book early.

Shelli Buda

Always beautiful ❤️ and fun!

christine bickel

A must see on your Big island adventure, amazing snorkeling

Reanna Walls

Amazing. Clear water. Rocks but once u get pass them u can enjoy the water. We saw a turtle on the shore. The water is warm.

Susan Weber

A tourist attraction in Hawaii

Chris Luna

This beach was really neat but be careful of rocks under the water. I ended up with a good sized gash to my right calf and lost a lot of blood.

Dolores Arbonnier

Nice snorkeling, black sand

Tia Kaiawe

Ive been going to hookena beach since I was little and it is my most favorite beach on earth. Its a very private type of beach and it has beautiful coral reefs as you wanser more far from shore. I would recommend anybody to go to hookena it is a great life and learning experience. (And sometimes there is the ocasional dolphins and turtles)

John Urist

Nice hot showers

Debbie Farrie

The best time while in Hawaii at this beach. We saw hundreds of dolphins swim around and under us and perform tricks spinning and jumping out of the water. Truely incredible. Get there early for parking, just the absolute best experience with dolphins in the wild I've ever experienced. The dolphins will come to you if your energy is positive, please don't chase them. They are naturally curious. My friend from Hawaii, Meghan, tagged it, "Between the Two Blues". She said it's as close to God as you can get. I'm planning to ask a artist friend here at home to render it into an painting for me to enjoy. Take snorkeling gear so you can enjoy the wildlife. We also saw whales slapping the water with their fins and showing off their beautiful tails. It would have been nice to have an under water camera. Someone near us was snapping pics.

Jay Garcia

Very private beach locals say dolphins visit and it has good shade.

Brittany Brown

This was our favorite beach from the whole island the sand was really nice not to many rocks my kids could get in and play in the waves all day. And then to end the day nice hot showers. And to end an awesome day seen some dolphins jumping!

Angelique Gertig

This beach was my favorite of all the beaches we sought out on the Big I. Not as crowded, and a bit limited in parking, get there by 9am and you should be good. One of the few beaches we found that rented kayaks, single, or double. $60 for 3 hours, and they take credit cards! We loved it! Bathrooms with a shower adjacent, , and a foot shower on the beach too. Really good snorkeling too, so we heard from those there doing it.

Juve Hernandez

What can I say this beaches are so beautiful

Toyota

Awesome beach for snorkeling, swimming and barbecuing!

Helen Powers

Easy entry to the water, lots of fish, clear, clean water. Place to camp, and snacks available.

Ryan Dark

We happened across this because campground because a friend was scouring the coastline using Google Earth to find camping spots. This is easily one of the most serene places that I have car-camped before. You setup camp right on the sand and are only a couple dozen yards from being in the ocean. A lot of people say that dolphins come into this bay 2-3 mornings reach week to rest. So, you might see some while you're here. I would come and stay here in place of a hotel on any trip to the Big Island.

Dionecio Headley

Saw some turtles and beach sand felt amazing on our feet.

Mark Richards

A real local beach with ocean wild life to view. Parking can be tight.

Annette DeVivo

Awesome beach! Sea turtles basking in the sun. Look from a distance the turtles need to rest. Clean bathrooms and a snack shack to purchase food and drinks. Also have rental equipment.

N. Doe

Our favorite beach while on the island!!! Saw so many dolphins and beautiful waters.

Shelly Ruhland

Gorgeous and warm waters! Lots of room to play. Definitely recommend

Carlee Finucan

We were suggested to check this beach out by the owners of our vacation rental. Great beach, we wish we didn't wait until our last day to check it out. We noticed a lot less tourists here and more locals. Hopefully when I go back it will still be that style of beach. The waves were fun to play in however there are plenty of rocks in the surf. Cool fish to snorkel and see. They have outdoor showers.

Robin Roy

Beautiful beach spot with black, grey sand. Saw tons of fish snorkeling but missed the dolphins. Saw goats up on the hills and amazing views.

Meghan Nelson

Beautiful, little beach. Pretty calm waves

Diana Magee

Beautiful little beach a bit hidden away. We were pleasantly surprised with the snorkeling there. There was plenty of fish to see! The beach has snacks and rentals available as well!

Noah Ross

one of the nicest beaches on earth. really nothing like it. been here about a million times since i was a baby and not much has changed. this is real hawaii. if you are a tourist please be respectful of the locals property and be careful on the road.

Stephanie Duval

Beautiful beach! Great views. I loved the tide pools. But the water was too rough for me. The 15 year olds loved body boarding and my husband loved snorkeling.

Annette Owens

Our favorite beach

James Castañeda

Camp seems to think they own the public roads too. Don't seem to understand how "no trespassing" signs work. You post them BEFORE the place you don't want people to cross. Silly man got aggressive. The area is naturally quite beautiful though. Air will sometimes fill with scent of plumeria at night.

Mario Mamone

Great place for a picnic and great tidal pools. Walk the trails that go forever. Free if at the gate you tell them you are only using the picnic area. However, do walk the trails to see Hawaiian village, rock walls and much more. It’s a very beautiful area. Sit in the tidal pools feed by the waves and chill. You can follow the trail south along the ocean that goes forever and see large waves crashing on the rock cliffs. Turn right on the small road right before you enter the park and you will be at one of the best snorkeling beaches in all of Hawaii. Bring water, food, and your snorkeling equipment and your chairs. There are a few trees for shade.

Yolanda Morales

So relaxing and of course beautiful! Clean bathrooms and showers.

Maeley Nordlof

We camped just one night this time. But it was just as awesome as ever. The staff were great down there. The stay was so worth the money. The warm showers are a huge plus. Water was a little rough for my 7 year old but we had a blast playing in the silky sand. The night was so peaceful. Fall asleep listening to the ocean... can't beat that. We just may be back next weekend.

Kirsten Goodman

One of the most laid back and comfortable beaches on the island!

Delmer Dagrella

This beach has clean clear water, perfect water temperature, nice sand, restroom, and dolphins. It's a small beach and not that easy to get to, but it is worth the drive for the whole family. Also it has shade trees. For stars for difficulty getting there.

Rhonda Reep

Great sand. Beautiful lava shoreline with lots of tide pools for little ones to play in. Snorkeling is good also. South end of beach has sandy bottom which is the best place for swimming and body surfing without having to worry about hitting rocks or coral. Dolphins come in frequently. Camping right on the beach. Kayaks and paddle boards and life jackets available to rent.

anita tavernier

when the surface Big Horn Canna is the place to go because it's a south facing Beach often times I have swim with dolphins there there is excellent snorkeling as well as good swimming on the left side of the beach where everyone should be entering to safely get in the water on the sand and not over the rocks it's a big white sand beach and I think that it's in need of more parking spots because it's getting real popular. I met a whole group of people who had a weekly potluck there on Wednesdays that I miss terribly and I would recommend visiting this beach if you haven't already it's also a great place to camp and it's one of the few places on island that has warm showers

BB Artistry

Amazing black sand beach to snorkel for the whole family. Get there early and stay late but watch the road for dips and turns!

peter stone

Looks like a great place to go camping or go for a walk on the lava rocks

Jayne Kainulainen

Easy sand beach to enter and swim. Went snorkeling but dif not see many fish.

Jana Davis

Beautiful beach! The undertow is strong and must be a good swimmer. There a place to rent equipment. Snorkeling is favorite activity here! We had a great day!

Kristine Meech

Great hidden beach not as busy as the other beaches. Found it at the beginning of our trip and came back as it is such a wonderful location. Snorkeling and boogie boards are great to have here as you will see great fish in the coral/rocks.

Gloria Calamaco

Not eva a disappointment

kelly does kona

The beach is amazing. The friends of Ho'okena do their very best to keep the park tidy and quiet. It's a wonderful place to camp, or just spend a lovely afternoon on the beach.

ron robillard

Splendid sandy beach. Great for kids mild shore break. Facilities and rentals.

Alexey Kokin

Nice beach with facilities. Plenty of space, not too crowded. Good snorkeling.

Paul Sterling

Great beach for swimming and snorkeling. Spinner dolphins spotted just offshore. Truck with water spots gear and snacks sets up in the parking lot most days.

Kim Moore

Best beach and snorkelling, easy pace, clean and just AWESOME

Cryptic Nomad

Best place on the kona side of the big island. Such a beautiful beach with mostly locals

Courtney Kaelin

We had a great time on our first visit. Snorkeling was good and we got to swim with the wild dolphins that frequent the bay. When leaving we saw a car getting vandelized. Thinking this was an isolated incident, we wanted to bring the rest of our group we traveled with back a few days later to see the dolphins. (After all, this is a park with parking attendants, camp site, lots of beach goers, and it was the middle of the day.) We foolishly felt safe. Our second trip, we became the targets of the locals. Long story short they were mad our group (ages 13-64) walked too close to their “reserved” picnic area while leaving the beach. One of our family members was shoved and we were all threatened to be “choked” amongst other obscenities. One local reached into our vehicle on the passenger side and grabbed a shirt from the center console and repeatedly threw it at the driver taunting him. Another man loomed over the car with a large rock threatening damage. We were absolutely horrified. Fortunately, another family came around the corner (and quickly ran away) which startled and distracted these guys attacking us enough that we were able to leave. We brought our concerns to the front desk of our Kona Wyndham resort. They were pretty dismissive of the whole thing. It seems to be a known thing that locals don’t like the tourists despite much of the income from the island being related to tourism. With that said, locals don’t seem to care much that tourists get harassed/assaulted.

Sarah Bosman

My favourite beach in Hawaii. Ideal location for snorkeling, many animals to be watched including turtles!

Ryan V

Get there early, say hello to the hosts, and get in the water on the left side of the beach for some great snorkeling. Decent bathrooms and plenty of porta-potties. Campsites available. Outdoor solar showers to clean you and your gear off after seeing some cool tropical fish. If you are new, remember, don't turn your back on the waves.

Laura Byrd

So much fun

Travis Reep

Great family beach. Get there early.

Jennifer Boyd

Beautiful beach park. Great camping. Clean bathrooms.

Kamran Sahrakar

Great beach. Plenty of parking. Snorkel with turtles and spinner dolphins. Solar heated water at showers. Sand and rock water access. No pets;so, no poop. A little bit of a trek from the main road; so, not overly crowded. Enjoyed an afternoon here.

Robin Trickel

Nice beach of salt and pepper sand. Easy to access. Not overly busy (mid-May). People swimming and snorkeling. Quiet. Beautiful way to spend an afternoon. Bathrooms were clean. 3 showers. 1 food seller in case you didn't bring your own. People do camp in the back corner.

Julie Valencia

The sand was soft not black sand but dark enough to be hot when the sun hit it. Yellow butterflies everywhere, so beautiful. The dolphins decided to swim by arms did their spinning twirls for everyone on the beach. The colorful fish could be seen surfing in the waves. The perfect day.

joAnn DeRitis

Every thing was so beautiful...even the people..

JIM FORBES

Loved the scenery & the fact that it is kept as a traditional fishing spot.

Mitch Quist

Great snorkeling, big sandy beach, bbq, picnic area. Great place to spend the day

Sarah Bartol

Good place to watch the pod of dolphins swim in the morning. Nice sandy beach, some large lava rocks under water. Not much to look at for snorkelling but the bay is really gorgeous with sandy cliffs. Limited parking so hopefully you get lucky :) they also have a snack bar and a place you can rent beach equipment if you want.

Robert Raab

Worth the twisty drive down. Excellent snorkeling, bbq pits & tables

Yentl Hofwijks

Beach is beautiful and recommendable, there a dolphins if you're lucky. I wouldn't recommend the campground however. I'm ok with basic facilities and no showers, but the facilities here where beyond basic. E.g. porta potties filled to the top with excrements, no lights at the bathroom. Basic doesn't equal disgusting. And there are shady people hanging around the terrain in the evening. We paid 42$ for a night. While if you go to a national park or state park campground, it's still basic, but in general cleaner and cheaper.

Tim Kleinwolterink

Very nice beach. Great sunset. Will return to spend more day time there.

Kaprice Kuhl

No parking. Tons of bees. To many locals

One Step Outside

My favorite beach so far. Dolphins in the bay, great snorkeling, you can rent stuff or get a snack. The sand is fine and they have showers :) everything you need for an awesome day

Chris B

Great family beach. Has camping spots. Water is usually pretty calm. Not much parking, get there early or make a donation to the volunteers that help take care of the beach and park.

William Shaughnessy

Just a perfect little gem of a beach for people living or visiting the south kona area

Denise Farrell

Great beach with grills and camping available!

Hello World

Small Beach with some black sand and tide pools. Saw a turtle really close to shore. Nice that there are picnic benches at the camp site and since it was empty from campers no one minded if we put some stuff on it. Has showers to rinse of but only porta potties near the beach.

Brady Irwin

Love this beach and camping experience is awesome and there are rentals and a concession stand and DOLPHINS. For any tourist coming here don't get close to dolphins or touch dolphins because it is illegal.

Ben Bissman

Lots of sharks and snakes! A handful of spiders and a cockroach or two. Keep away

Rebekah Stavros

Beautiful little beach with black sand tucked away. There's a snack bar, bathrooms, and showers. Teeny camping is cheap but competitive. The cliffs overlooking are were ali'i (royalty) were interned in lava tubes long ago, so there's history along with a beautiful reef! Love this place, but the sand being black means the sand gets very hot- bring slippers or water shoes

alii na

Dont go unless your native

Robert Kingsford

This was a nice little secluded beach at the end of the road. It was quite busy. There is a rental place where you can rent chairs and snorkel gear as well as an outdoor shower to clean off. When we were there snorkeling, we saw many fish, an eel, and a turtle. It was reported that people sometimes see dolphins although we did not. I will return to this beach.

melissa miller

My favorite beach since I moved to the island. It's not overcrowded like the other beaches. I love it

Pol Stafford

Great snorkeling. Good sand.

Doree Anderson

The ocean is on the mild side. If you are looking for boogie board action, you're probably not going to find it here. If you're looking for mild swells and snorkeling, this is a good spot. There is also camping on the shore. I love coming here

G. A. Donnachaidh

Nice county facility run by locals who petitioned to do so. A fishing village w/camping. Paved but a bit rough access road down a somewhat long hill through active livestock range-picturesque. Hit the store 1/4 mile north for great selections and cheapest ATM cash access I've seen!

epic gamer

I love how the uncles keep the parking lot in order by directing car where to park. Give respect to the families who live there or you not going get one good spot to park.

Ken Swanson

Awesome Beach.. tons of brightly colored fish.. Perfect place to snorkel or lean to, good smaller waves. Turtles and dolphins too..

Anna Barrick

Ah-MAZ-ing!!! We'd go back here in a heart beat. The best (free, if you have your own gear) snorkeling in a whole week on the island.

Bryan Jolley

My favorite on the big island

Scott Hensley

Nice small local beach

Miriam Howard

Beautiful beach, the staff is very friendly and helpful! Gorgeous views at night of the moon amd stars on a clear night!

Patricia McClellan

My Favorite Beach... My son, 13 loves to spear fish. I'm on the beach making friends, snorkeling and just relaxing. This is by far my favorite beach. The waves are just right for me. It's not for surfing or really boggie boarding. But I can get into the water and out of it, without worring about being crushed. My son and I are getting the permit to camp here for a weekend this summer. I can't wait.

LOL_ LOLOLOLOL

Love this place.. it's beautiful.water is perfect...

Jason Roy

Great snorkeling. Tons of fish. A little tricky to get to but once you're down at the beach it's a great spot.

Jesse Broder Van Dyke

Beautiful beach, warm shower

Lt. Colonel David K. Swendiman

Beautiful and peaceful... Rootsy local vibe and culture with a few too many tourists.

Mark Schurr

I was there last year, a fantastic experience! Great people, great snorkingly.

Laurie Dudasik Lombrozo

I enjoyed this beach a lot! It has a good variety of sandy & rocky areas right off the shoreline. I visited while 7 months pregnant and found it to be relatively easy to swim its waters. Showers, toilets, picnic tables, some trees for shade. Limited parking. We arrived early (7:30am) and basically had the whole place to ourselves for about an hour. It was a beautiful time of day.

N N

Very wide and clean beach. There are showers and restrooms as well. The driving is bit tricky with very narrow roads, sometime it’s one way. There is a small parking area and then a big parking lot (not to be confused with camping parking lot). Sand is clean and not rocky.

Sid Hamilton

The beach is Awsome BEATIFUL amazing

Dawn Doherty

Not an easy road for any Joe Blow, but we love an adventure! Beach was beautiful and clean. I can't imagine trying to navigate anything bigger than a jeep into the area. Very limited parking and no food vendors. Instead pack a lunch, snorkeling gear, beach shoes and enjoy a couple of hours of beautiful sand and water. We weren't prepared for getting wet, but we saw sea turtles from the shore in the shallows. We will definitely put this on a must-do the next time we visit the Big Island.

shawn andrews

Best black sand beach to swim at by far. Mostly locals there so don't tell the turons.

Brian b

Great place to camp or have a beach day.

Lisa Ware

So lovely. Rural. Local. Untouched. BBQ and rinse showers too! Love the surf here and a great area for little ones to swim in the ocean safely.

charity gjerset

Beautiful beach restless natives

Linda A. Miller

Very nice cove with showers and small cafe. Limited parking.

iantha houston

Beautiful black sand. Water was a bit rough.

Chris Hoare

Absolutely stunning beach with friendly staff. Not much parking but the staff were helpful and there were lots of folks keeping the beach cleaned.

Ben Maddox

Black sand beach nestled in a picturesque setting

Mary Binkley

Absolutely love camping here! Wonderful staff of hooked beach friends! They have camp spaces available AND they rent out snorkel gear, kayaks, boards, etc! Absolutely beautiful beach and good but more gentle waves at times! Definitely a great place for sunsets! Simply a must see on the island the drive is even well worth it.

TheBriongonz

Good camping, decent snorkeling and diving.

Aylene

It's a nice beach. It has gray sand and somewhat calm waves. It is a small beach however but its mainly only used by locals and unknown by most tourists. We only found out about it from a local shop owner that we were talking to. It has areas to camp and picnic tables. Overall a good experience.

Angel Crowley

The waves were beautiful, but were a bit rough.

Mea Lanakila Mermaid

It's nice it has waves the waves are not to big

Angela Higgins

This is one of my all time favourite beaches. Excellent snorkeling, large/deep soft sandy beach, lots of shade. The people who run it are super nice and friendly. Washrooms, showers, and a small kiosk renting equipment and selling refreshments.

Courtney B

It’s a beach for locals. Nice and secluded on the way there. It was by far my favorite beach on the big island! There’s water activities for purchase and you can spot dolphins. Be careful and watch for big and small rocks in the water. Got hurt by stepping on one so wear water shoes.
