Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix leaves much to be desired as far as a karting experience goes. First, there is the track itself: The track is an indoor racetrack situated in an industrial unit. This results in a very slippery floor and a very short track, taking only 30 seconds to complete a lap. The track itself has no fun corners or long straightaways. Just hairpins and 90-degree bends. Due to the track's surface and geometry, crashes and spins are very common. One crash will ruin your entire 8-minute, $20 race (whether you were involved or not). Pricing for non-members is almost double the dollar-per-minute price of some other locations I have visited. Much lower value-for-money for what is a much less enjoyable experience. That being said, this place has its good bits: Events are quite common and staff are very nice. If there is an accident on the track staff are quick to suspend racing to ensure your safety. Kids and beginners will love this place. As a first experience in a kart this place will be great! The lower speeds and simple corners (turns) allow them to get to grips with driving with no prior knowledge of the apex, cornering speeds, or braking zones. Be careful if you kid is too young, as a crash could seriously hurt him/her (keep in mind this fact is at no fault to Mid-Atlantic, as they try to avoid instances like a kid's birthday party and a bachelor party together). The Verdict: Great for kids and beginners, but not avid racers or even with experience elsewhere.

Normally we try to get there early so that my son and I can race together, which is an awesome experience! We have purchased multiple race packages, which can help to keep the cost down and will be back to race soon!

Do not recommend!!..they did not inform me that my children different ages would be racing separately!...for the $100 I paid for 4 people to race an 8 minute race,,..wish I'd have known he wasn't racing people he knew!, and we were celebrating his brothers birthday!....Manager Alyssa..said that just doesn't happen, that we weren't informed of the difference in races due to age,.but it did!!...We will "never" go back!!!

brought my boyfriends son here with some of his friends for unlimited racing and it was horrible. No one raced for 20-30 mins between races. They have only raced three races because of this and we have been here for 4 hours. Most unorganized night here.

One of the staff yelled at me because I didn’t stop at a red light, and I was in the junior division. Plus it was my first time taking on the course and going to this arena, so I was still learning my way around and learning what everything meant. During the orientation the lady spoke very fast so I couldn’t understand anything, which did take a toll on not knowing some of the information needed. They also did not go over simple things like how to tighten your seatbelt or (how) to put your visor (shield) down on your helmet. The staff was okay as most of them looked unhappy and seemed as if they were dreading to be there. But the service was great! I had a lot of fun driving.

Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix is an excellent family destination. The ma nagement and staff is very accommodating and extremely friendly. My father who is 70 years old and my son who is 11 years old both race in the League and if you are serious about racing this is a great place to race in the off season. They have sponsored the biggest event of the year at the Blackbird Quarter Midget Club for the last 4 years and they host our monthly club meeting.

I've been to MAGP multiple times, two Saturday morning 3-hour endurance races with local SCCA members and several Arrive and Drive's. It's a fantastic experience, the carts are fast enough to where driver skill is a major factor in how well you do, but are not so fast as to be scary or intimidating. I've also taken my 13 year old son there and discovered he has a knack for it. Staff are friendly and a big part of the positive experience. I'll definitely keep coming back for more :-)

We can't wait to go back! We held a 40th Birthday Party there last summer and had a blast! The staff was wonderful, accommodating all the party goers and drivers. The pizza party was a good deal, the room was more than big enough and nicely decorated. It was mostly everyone's first time go-kart racing and we all had a great time!!

I've bringing my 9 yo daughter there for a couple of years now. She loves it, and has shown pretty good improvement. She lapped a bunch of 12 YO boys a couple weeks ago. The lobby is very clean and the staff very helpfull. The cars are very fast and the course is challenging.

These things are super fast and driving was a thrill. 3 races was more than enough. One thing we tried to do was make a reservation and were told we didn't need one for a group of 14. Took us over 2.5 hours to get our races in. We got there at 11am and didn't leave until 1:30.

Great experience! Staff were all very nice and helpful. Prices are consistent with this type of business and i thought they were fair. They don't offer much in the way of food which probably helps them keep costs down. Don't eat a big meal before go carting, you are kinda cramped up in the cart and a big meal will just make the experience uncomfortable.

Interesting smaller gas-powered karting location with one indoor track; it is moderately technical with fairly narrow turns and a decent back straightaway. The 6.5 HP Sodi carts seem well maintained and fairly balanced such that there is not a significant performance difference between the various karts that we drove... maybe one or two outliers that were slow, but mostly similar. It is a fun place. we have been traveling around the Mid-Atlantic trying out different tracks, and found this to be a fairly typical location. The track is not setup to allow the karts to reach top-end speeds that these types of rides are capable of, but they handle nicely even though the track is slick. The facility is certainly off the beaten path, though GPS got us mostly there without any issue. The place seems to be kept clean, the staff was very nice, and the customers that we saw there were well behaved. The biggest opportunity we noticed, in compared to other tracks we have raced at, is the narrowness of the track - especially in the turns. While it was never busy enough (while we were there) for there to be a real need to have a track marshal on-track, it would have helped. We are sure that they must have marshals on-track during peak hours, or there wold be a ton of angry drivers if not. Pre-race instruction and safety briefing was very good. We came in (never been there before) having completed registration online before getting there, so we were quickly able to purchase a 5 race package and hit the track. After racing, staff was easy to talk to and willing to share guidance on cornering and best lines. As seems to be the standard with most places we have visited to date, races are sold a an "8 minutes race" so everyone gets 8 minutes on track... and faster racers get more laps in within that time. Makes sense and pricing was typical, to a touch higher, than we have experienced for that type of racing. Other than the track narrowness, the one opportunity we noticed is that the track manager did not reset the time clock for yellow light stoppages. In two of our races, newer racers wrecked and had trouble getting turned around correctly and the delays seemed to be between 30 and 60 seconds. In most other facilities we have raced at, this 'stoppage' time gets added back to the clock, thereby ensuring that racers get the full 8 minutes of race time that they paid for. In total though, it was a fun experience and I would go back there to race and try to get closer to track records (ran 21.1 in my 3rd race there and record is listed as 20.3)... would love to go run for the money! Smooth karts. Nice staff. Decent, smaller facility. Not a cheap hobby though!

A+. Newer Honda engines, track surface is pretty grippy, balanced steering and chassis on the 4 karts I used. They check the tire pressures everyday which is a bonus. All the karts are pretty consistant as a result, its a competive environment. The staff will happily give you pointers in order to improve your times. If they hold a tournament Ill be ready.

I started going to place many years ago. I enjoyed it then and even did league racing. Now it's even better with go-karts with better acceleration. The staff is really cool too. The go-karts are well maintained and are pretty equal in performance for the most part. I really recommend this place to anyone up for a thrill ride. Like most go-kart places, be prepared to spend a decent chunk of change though. They have a membership program that makes it a better value and weekly specials.

We came here for a work event as a group of eight. It was the first time some of us had written go karts in their lives. Veterans and new guys had just as much fun. I this this is probably the best go karting track in Philadelphia area. This place is not like other stupid go kart places you have been to, where you don’t have to use your brakes on turns. This is serious stuff, karts are fast and requires a lot of work to handle them appropriately on turns. Racing at this place is like a workout session. The only thing that I would say is that the tires in the karts are old and worn out, the karts slides/drifts a lot on turns, but it’s still really good. They should update their carts soon. This place can be really successful if they update the place a little bit, some food options would be nice. But other than that, you won’t find any other place in Philadelphia area with this serious karts, no kill switches.

Great place and great staff! My girlfriend and I stopped here randomly one day and we were very pleased with the experience. It's a great place for beginners and experienced riders. They walk you through the whole process the first time and they seemed pleased to do so. The carts are not governed and you can go as fast or as slow as you'd like. We highly recommend it for all kids and adults.

My wife and I decided to give kart racing a try as our "night out". I wasnt sure what to expect. Mid Atlantic Grand Prix def got it right. The staff from the front desk to the race track were awesome. We told them it was our first time and they took the time to make sure my wife and I were ready to race. Fast karts plus great staff equals a great experience. Definitely gonna be back soon.

Just spent my lunch break there....I was the only person there until I went to leave at 12 and people were showing up. I have raced at Arnold's in Oaks, PA and Speed Raceway in Horsham, PA. It's definitely not cheap, but the other two places I mentioned aren't either. I got the online deal of $57 (includes $2 sock/cap) for 3 races (8 minutes each). Got around the track about 18 times which is $3/lap. i was not drastically impressed with the track, because it doesn't have a great straightaway and is on the small side. The karts do not go 45 mph as advertised online. You're probably hitting 35-37 mph on the one small straight away. The staff was awesome, helpful and fun to talk too. I drove 3 different karts which was a little bit of a bummer waiting for the tires to warm up, but all 3 were in great condition and the laps were alot of fun. I would definitely go back and plan on bringing people.

The employees allow what they call “problem customers” race with you, who will break the rules without being punish and then yell at you for trying to beat them. They’ll then proceed to grab you and scream slurs at you. So unless you feel like being assaulted I would recommmend passing on this place, especially if you’ve got kids.

Love this place! Thrilling rides for the adults and expressions of pure joy (and terror the first time!) from younger drivers. But the kids get over it and with as little as 2 rides, their confidence gets better and their skills progress. If you go more than once a year, get the year long membership - better value and perks. Save your headsock - you'll want to go again!

Had my son's 12th birthday party here in Nov 2013 and it was amazing! He had been there a couple of times before the party. The staff did a fantastic job of ensuring the all of the boys' safety. They first took the boys 5 at a time to watch them race. Then they took them all at once. Having ten boys between the ages of 9 and 11 race could be tough, but they had two adults in cars on the track to help keep things in line. Safety was always top of mind and, as a mom, I would happily recommend the team at Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix!

This place is has become a hidden jem in New Castle. The only problem with jems are, they're so dang expensive. Personally, I think the owner is missing out on revenue from an untapped market. Either lower the base price or offer more to do at the same rate. That way people won't feel they must have fun to justify the money they just spent. Remember people want to return; however, if it feels like spending an arm and leg each time.. TV might win by default for many of us
