REVIEWS OF Killens Pond State Park IN Delaware

Mama Redz

Nice spot to take the kids and cool off for a very affordable rate. Also you can picnic, grill, and even camp... haven't tried the camping area but planning to try out a cabin

Edward Huffman

Great time! We camped in a tent only area and had a great time. Sites were spread out from one another. Fire pits were great too with built in grills. Another bonus was the carts to help get your stuff from the car to the site.

Richard Day

Primarily for the kids but the slides were nice also. The food sucks though

M. Diane Williams

Didn't have enough time to explore everything. It eas great

Szilagyi Timothy

Fun little spot in Delaware. Bring your swim suit the water Park a must.

Denise Johnson

Excellent will be back

kinyata lewis

Price was so much better than any water park I've e er been to. My family of 4 only cost $28. We then ate costing around $37 total drinks snacks included. There were four huge water slides for older kids. Then a smaller side for kids including three slides for them. I will be coming back. Just wasn't prepared to pay $8 for out of state parking.

Selvakumar Dharmaraj

My 19 year old grandson and I went fishing here a couple of weeks ago. That experience was priceless and I'm grateful there's a place like Killens Pond to have that experience

nadine cooper

This Area is always great. Had to do a charter trip and the weather was great out side to do cross country in the Sports Complex area..

Judy Pfeiffer

Very nice cool spot with the hot weather! Went with some friends and we all enjoyed it! Clean facilities! The lifeguards were quite attentive, as they should be. Lots of parking.

Ambur Brown

To much chlorine everyone's rubbing there eyes an anytime myself or other female mimmy friends go here they always end up with uti from the chlorine being to strong. Not worth making your body feel uncomfortable an messing up your ph levels as a woman

Sonia Ramirez

Really closing a water park cuz it was drizzly

L BRYANT

Wonderful state park with great camping and enthusiastic staff. Features lots of inexpensive to free programs for all ages. Bike and walking trails, hayrides, a nature center. There's also a great budget friendly waterpark on the property with four great new 3 story adult slides and a super splash and play area for the little ones. Delaware state parks are some of the finest in the country if you ask me, and I've done some traveling!

Mike Woodside

Very nice trail. mostly shaded. Just keep an eye out if you're walking, there's a lot of bikers here and a couple of blind corners where they could sneak up on you accidentally.

Pat Washinowski

Fabulous campground. It was their annual Halloween bash but we did not know. Every campsite was decorated on Orange for the site contest. For the trick or treating we had to run out for candy. We gave candy to about 100 kids. It was fun. The other campers were repeats and made us feel so welcomed. Thank you.

Andrew Horensky

Great DE state park. Water and electric with wooded sites. Little right in loop B,C and E but we got in fine with a 30ft TT. Make sure you have cash during the week as the ranger station is not usually staffed.

Steven Cain

Love coming here every year for my family reunion. I do wish they would upgrade the bathrooms by the lake and the sports fields

Dorothy Daddario

I love that's it clean and very family oriented everyone very friendly being outdoors.

Anna Taylor

Prices are getting too high for what they offer

Mama Redz

Nice spot to take the kids and cool off for a very affordable rate. Also you can picnic, grill, and even camp... haven't tried the camping area but planning to try out a cabin

Overview: shaded spots that are wonderfully cool during 80 and 90 degree heat, fun and inexpensive water park, various types of boats to rent and well marked trails. Site: our site was A9 and it was covered by trees with very level dirt. It's an RV site with electric and water and a fire ring. The fire ring was a decent size but the grate / grill is very low to the fire and it was made difficult to cook on the much lower grill than maybe a higher one would have been. This site and the one next to it (site A9) are the closest to the port-a-potties. This does mean that people may walk through or right near your site to get to them, but everyone around us was in an RV and it wasn't an issue. This site is also the closest to the playground. You can't hear the kids on the playground, but it's close enough to be able to send them in a group and call for them. Bathroom: the bathrooms include two port-a-potties and a bathhouse, not near each other. All were well maintained when we arrived, but by the end of the holiday weekend you could tell they had been utilized a lot. The bathhouse has showers which do have hot water and have a button you push. The showers are relatively small, but do have one hook on the interior to hook a bag or your clothes. Amenities: Boat rentals - we rented a paddle boat, which was $6 for a half hour. Each paddle boat holds 4 and are easy to use. They also have canoes and kayaks to rent. Nature center - the upper level of the nature center has a few herps in cages to view and an interactive touch screen. The lower level has a small room that has coloring pages and a video for kids. Waterpark - the water park is great and had something for everyone. The area for the younger kids has two small pile and various slides and water features. The larger pool has a lily pad obstacle course, a small slide and more water features. There are also for larger slides of various speeds. There is a concession stand with really good, but overpriced food, but most waterpark food is overpriced. The worst thing about this park is consistently the bathrooms. We ended up leaving earlier than intended due to the state of the bathrooms. PROS: Shaded! It was 92 one of the days we were tent camping and our spot was nice and cool Quiet campground Nice hiking trails that are well marked, easy to hike even for a 3 year old CONS: Some sites are very close together or are basically surrounded by other sites (Loop C and Loop E) Have stayed here before and will stay here again.

Eileen Lewis - God's Servant

I love this park! We had our church picnic there on 7/28/18. It was a big success! The young people had a blast at the water park! I stayed at the picnic area & worked the grill. It was very peaceful & not overcrowded. Next time I go I MUST remember to take my bug spray!!

Key Gib

This campground was an unexpected treasure! We came to Delaware to see the horseshoe crabs mating on the full moon (worth it if you’ve never seen it). We camped in the G, walk-in campsites. Although others were around, we felt very isolated with all the foliage around us. Campground has a great, clean bathhouse and the campground hosts are wonderful! Would 100% come back here.

Scott Rainville

Lots of trails. Very nice cross country course. Ok to bring Fido along with you.

Aimee Bechard

Beautiful! Can't wait to spend more time here.

Wyatt Brisbane

Always a great place to bring pets/walk on the trails

M Veyan Rice

It wascrowded, not surprising for the 4th of July. Water was very pleasant, the slides looked fantastic. I did not use one. we were fortunate that my wife had bought tickets as the line was backed up like crazy. The one warning - the concession stand that does not serve ice cream. Would you believe it? We had a good time but we had to leave as there was bad weather coming in. I appreciate the fact that they keep an eye on that. All in all a good experience and well worth the money.

Jt Lowe

Amazing state park.

kijacam .

Wooded sites. Very nice staff. Wooded trails and bike path. Water park is closed on weekdays for the first 2 and last 2 weeks of the season, so we missed that, but will be back to try it out next year. Canoe, kayak and boat rentals. Very reasonable rates.

alex harrington

It is a good family ordinated place. Just when I grew up there they didn't have so many runs about where u can and can't park. And u need a permit to go anywhere in there. Even on the outside just to fish.

MINESH PATEL

Camping ground ,, if you are booking online please check for car goes with you till camp sites, otherwise you have carry your lauguage from parking to camp site.... Else awesome place for camping site and nearby water park,,,

Dan Frazier

Local to me but worth the trip. The pond is short enough to hike around with kids. The canoe rentals are always a great time. This is a place you can let the kids off the leash a little bit. Not many tent campers the last few times I went. Mostly people staying in their RVs.

Franklin Watkins

Had a blast camping with the family

Tonia B

Great host for kayaking cant wait to go back

Margaret Queen

Family Reunion!! Awesome!?

Brooke Faulkner

Had a great time! Wonderful atmosphere

Brett Bussart

Killen's Pond State Park was a blast! I took Scout Troop 111 there this weekend and the girls loved it! They were able to cook over a wood fire, that they made themselves. The parks got paddle boats, canoes, kayaks all for rent. It has a water park and 3 different hiking trails, we did take a 3 mile hike. The camp sites were clean, there was plenty of fallen dry wood to gather and use for the camp fire and just outside of the primative youth camping area there were two semi-permanent porta-johns, so no cat holes. They have a nature center there with small exhibits and spectacular views. There was a sports center that we didn't go to as well as athletic fields. This state park really has it all. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the outdoors.

Isabella Johnson

Could have been cleaner. Only one bath house. Nice quiet campground though.

Rebecca Haug

Love the park itself...beautiful place with lots of fun options. Tables and grills for cook outs. Park for kids to play! Water park of course..costs money though..even has occasional nature education courses for free. Also can rent paddle boats

Chantel Collie

Paul Nilson

Great place loads of fun

Flowerbaby Ok

Amazing place and it is a park with other cool facilities like a canoe and kayaking area, a water park, and a nature walk!!

Josh Maxfield

Probably the best disc golf course on the shore. Fairways are tight, but fair. Holes often play through gaps, up and down elevation, or a combination of both. Greens are often nestled between trees or down an alley and require a well placed upshot to land. Brush can be bad if you get too far off course, but it's forgiving in most areas. Beginner to advanced, this course is built for all skill levels with three tees on most holes. Only minor complaints would be that hole 10's green needs some brush cleared up and that the transitions between 14-15 and 17-18 can be a little confusing if you've never been there.

cassandra harmon

This small water park / recreational area is economical and fun for families and group trips. Pack a lunch for the cooler! There aren't too many food options available... I took my son & his friends here many years ago when they were young. I returned recently and it had the same reminiscent feel: hot, summer haze, with plenty squeals and splashes to make it memorable. Enjoy ⛲

Margaret Graves

Had a great time for our Employee Appreciation Day. Good weather lovely landscape.

Eric James

Love this quite peace fully park.

Genea Biddle

It's a very nice campground. I do think if you camp there you should be able to get in the water park for free.

Diane Calloway

Delaware State Parks are my go to destination for weekend trips. Killen's Pond is such a scenic destination and has a great walking path around the pond. The only part that I don't like (though it has great views) is the eastern edge of the pond where you have to walk along the shoulder of the road. But the rest of the trail is quiet, peaceful and varies in terrain.

Quit Bitching Coalition

Took the family out here today! Loved it. Fun for all ages! Rented the boats !

Brandt Martin

I was very impressed with this Parks Disc Golf Course. The whole course stayed in the pines and there was defined fairways on all but one hole as well as the open feeling that was the result of the limited areas of brush weeds and briers. I always love playing were their is a thick carpet of Pine needles, and that was what this course had throughout it. Also the Design/Layout of the tee;s and baskets was very creative.

Lisa Wagner

What a beautiful very clean state park. Very shaded and peaceful. The campsites were very close but we were fortunate to have very respectful people camping by us. Will definitely be back next year

A gem with a lot of activities for everyone. I had a blast with my family. Already looking forward to the boat ride. This is a must go place for family especially if you have kids.

anthony colson

For my first state park experience it was definitely a good start!

Barbara Beaman

We did a dusk kayaking trip. The guides were friendly, helpful and had some great information to share about the park. The park is beautiful! I have been going there since I was a kid. It's always been a very nice park.

Gregory Brown

Was camping over the weekend. Spots are very close together. Amenities are not close, you have to take a hike then walk down a road, literally a road to get to the nature center and boat rental. Was really not impressed. No fish in the pond, talked with boat rental guy and he said was not surprised and if we had caught anything it would have been small. Not sure about the full situation but a group was making a lot of noise still at 1:30 am. They were not too close to us but I could hear them when I woke up. If I was closer to them I am sure I would have been unhappy.

Corrina Youngs

Some one needs to take better care of this park. It's so disappointing that I don't feel safe any more taking my child with it my fiance with us. It's always unkept

Bessie Brown

It was so relaxing sitting by the pool and reading

Alan Centa

Large state park with many attractions and programmes. Fee for entry or annual pass. Today I just had a picnic with family spending a night camping before school and deployment. Clean campsite and well kept grounds. Play equipment, flush toilets, beach volleyball court within easy walk. I did not get to the water features on this trip, but as an annual pass is in the offing I will be returning. Dog friendly staff, grounds, and activities.

Jasmine Rittersbacher

Excellent. The rangers were efficient and kind. The site was clean and well maintained. Our family really enjoyed using the cabins. We will be using this site again in the near future.

Tina Belcher

It's always a nice family day out with the grandkids.

Chris Shantz

Wonderful State Park. Pond, Nature Center, boat ramps, fishing, hiking, water park. A grreat place to go in yhd Summer

Renee Mac

Last minute camping trip at Killen's Pond. Our first time there, and it will be our go to place from now on. Clean, quiet, and reasonable cost. Cabins are solid, and pretty sound proof. So shaded we didn't need the AC. Walking trail and canoe/paddle boats were a nice, scenic change. My kids loved seeing nature at it's (local) finest! I'd love to go back as soon as the weather gets cooler. Unfortunately we weren't able to make the water park. Definitely next year!.

Alexis Aults

My family and I loved it here! We stayed in a cabin and it was super peaceful. The screened in porch and huge bathroom was definitely a nice addition to the beautiful cabin. You do have to park in the lot and then walk back to the cabins. There are carts to help you unload and load though. The trails were nice and the water park was bigger than I anticipated. The lifeguards were amazing and you could tell it was well run. Thank you to the staff at Killens Pond! Well done :)

Wanda White

Such a beautiful and peaceful park! The only reason I did not give it a 5 is because I did not experience it all. I was there with my son and his health and fitness conscience self. Our visit proved that there is something there for every level. My son ran three(?) laps with my 9 year old grandson. (The last half with him on his shoulders). My 14 year old granddaughter and I chose to walk the same trail at a steady pace (most of the way) in the opposite direction. You see my way was downhill and theirs, a bit of an incline. They came by us twice before we stopped to play with a cute kitten near a bench...On the other side of whatever that building was, I'm told there is a field with the usual equipment and a more challenging trail. I did not ask about the building; didn't want to slow these people down! (I am told the 9 year old can run a nine minute mile) My granddaughter is used to keeping up with the boys, but just chose to "keep Nana company" (: Next time I'll make sure our walk includes the field and that building; a tour as it were...LOL

Ricky Hughes

Fantastic park to visit. A lot of beautiful views and grounds to do a lot of outdoor activities. The life course is very cool as well. The pond is absolutely stunning and a great time to rent kayak, canoe or pedal boat!!

B.

Stay here every year to break in the camping season. Close to home and we always have a good time.

Chris Rice

I love Killens Pond! It's a family favorite hiking spot

Leslie Grant

Beautiful area! We stayed in cabin 6 at the campground. Checked in late (after dark) and were greeted with cockroaches on the counter and around the kitchen area. There were roach traps around the cabin too, so it couldn't have been an unknown problem. I expect to see a few bugs in a cabin in the woods... bugs like spiders and maybe ants, but not roaches. The cabin was lovely, aside from that.

Robert Fries

No one here (maybe because it's 92° at 7:30pm?) - perfect sunset paddle !

Michelle Smith

Free concert on Fridays. Great time.

Sinai Builders

Great staff, very clean, lots of family fun

destiny law

Ya’ll need to leave your restrooms open later, I don’t understand why they close so early at 4pm. Hope you fix this thankss

Miranda Smith

Park was lovely...the camp office staff wasn’t very welcoming or friendly...and granted we went to the primitive camp site...the chemical toilets where awful and the ladies side of the bath house left something to be desired as well...but with that being said my family enjoyed themselves and memories were made which was the point of the trip

Doris Sweeney

Beautiful place as always we love going as a family and take pictures!

Kevin Smith

Home of great cross country course.

I love this park. Its huge and has a lot of activities and room for everyone. Just as a heads up, there arent vending machines around the park areas, so bring your own water and snacks! The water park has concessions though.
