Great picnic spot
Beautiful spot if you can catch it without a crowd. Tends to get over crowded with people blasting music which changes it from a beautiful, serene location to a place you can't spend more than a few minutes at. Wish there was a way to keep it peaceful.
You have swimming, picnic area, trail walks, cycling trails and it is beautiful park for lot of outdoor activities. Has a river stream and loaded with natural beauty. You can find parking and restrooms also here.
This state park only had 2 waterfalls, and the entire experience was ruined at the main waterfall because lots of people went in to swim even though there is a very clear “ No swimming sign there. There is also lots of trash around and there are no staff . It looked like the park had given up on even maintaining the area. If you use google maps, it takes you to a very isolated area in the forest and it is very confusing. The hiking overall was fine and there was parking.
Very cute and scenic park with a few nice trails and spots for family outings, picnics, and barbecues.
Nice falls where you can really get into water
Had a Great time
Breathe taking experience recommend to everyone.
Very good park with lots of trails. Beautiful waterfalls is the best part.
A beautiful place to relax
Very Nice falls but very limited parking and cops or gaurds are not friendly
Good but small swimming area
Beautiful but crowds of people.
Beautiful scenic and brisk hike.
The falls is well worth the trip!!! The park is also very clean, with plenty of room. The swimming pond is very nice also.
I love this place
It's nice place to bring your kids. It has nice trails to walk. I have been going here for 18 years. Last week I took the bigger kids now and my grandson. I will not be returning, they parking lot was full and the young lady that was working for DEEP was very rude. When I slowed down to pull in she yelled the parking lot is full you have to keep it moving and go to another State Park. I drove an hour to get there. I'm a very reasonable person and are good with people. I work at a major hospital in CT and deal with people everyday. That young lady made me feel like we didn't belong there and In will never go back.
Awsome place to visit, the Wadsworth waterfall is only to see though, you can't swim in it. There is a small beach nearby in the same park so all was good to enjoy the heat
Great park. Can be a bit crowded during summer.
Nice place to hangout with kids. My kids loved playing in water and with beach toys on the sand. It will be full and busy on holidays. You can't find parking spot if if you reach there after 12:00pm.
It's peaceful and beautiful and if the beaten path.
It is a nice place to sit and read and enjoy the area
Nice place to relax
Very popular on a holiday. Trails are a bit easier. Little falls wasn't much, too little water. Big falls was more little than big. Too bad people throw garbage in the park and waterways. It is carry in and carry out!
You can barely see the lake area with all the sand, however the water was beautiful. The areas were beautiful. Reason this is not a five star and a four star is for the reason the bathrooms were disgusting. Water and paper everywhere. I would recommend this place and some Clorox wipes when you enter the restroom.
It was a nice walk
Great beach, plenty of picnic area and great photo op with the covered bridge
Nice place
Is a good place
Awesome place. Very clean.
Waterfalls...Had great time
Park in the Cherry Hill St. lot for a short walk to the big falls. The lot is unmarked until you are pulled in all the way so it's easy to miss. We walked up the road, over the train tracks, to the marked trail and just took the half mile yellow trail. Trails were not marked frequently enough as we approached intersections, and I was with a retired military and Eagle Scout, so it wasnt just me craning my neck looking down the next marked tree. The yellow trail has no water areas, but we spied lots of little creatures and the wild roses were in bloom (early June) so it was a nice little walk. Some uphill but manageable. On the walk back to the lot, we stopped to look at the river from the other side of the highway, which was pretty and worth a peek for a few minutes. Back to the waterfall, it became later in the morning and so. More visitors, a few swimming dogs, and a casual fisherman. We also saw a lump in the grassy field and upon investigation met a slepping tortoise. Funny place for a nap, but we left him to it. Parking at this lot was free. But I believe there is a charge (for out of state plates) at the main lot in summer. Check the CT DEP website before heading out.
Beautiful place.. but people need to learn to clean up after themselves before they ruin it for everyone and the town closes the falls.
Nice running trails
Nice place to come and relax
A nice easy hike. Make sure you head down the street and to the right at the end of the trail so you don't miss the big falls. Overall a beautiful hike and a ton of fun. I took my 4 year old daughter and she did great. It was no problem for her to finish.
Beautiful hike, about 2.5 miles one way. Good for beginners and people of all ages. Can ride bikes/horses
It was a very nice hike, there are easy and hard trails good for different skill levels a little buggy but also it's nature. I walk there every day shade nice perfect tempature in the shade.
Wadsworth is a great place for hiking. The trails are very well maintained and clearly marked, with a gorgeous canopy above for ample shade. The Orange trail is good for beginners due to its wide path and gentle slopes. Blue trail is slightly more difficult, but has the best payoff: Little Falls. This is my favorite place in the park. It is so peaceful to listen to the water, and Little Falls is far enough into the park that road noise isn't competing with the sound.
We started off at the Laurel Grove Rd end and walked following the trail for about a mile but had to return midway after hearing the distance to the actual falls is more than what we had covered till then. But the trail is very serene and not that crowded even on a weekend. They also have a picnic spot as well which is accessible by some other road
Very buggy right now. Wait a week
The natural resources near you
Wadsworth is perfect for trail running, or slow walks... Whatever your preference
Very beautiful place. Love going here!
Nice place to relax.
Its a really nice a nature place but it should have more signals to the way over there and inside the walkside
Beautiful green every where. Great little trails. Water fall is pretty. Some a*%holes leave trash behind. Don’t be that person.
Nice hiking trails
Nice park. Smallish. Worth a stop if you have never been there.
Nice place for a quick visit with family if you are looking for good trail with waterfall. State park has beach and swimming pool as well.. beach is nice but not well maintained.. too much dog poop
Nice place to take photos, bring family, and just wanted to let you know a great place to chill. It doesn't matter what time of year. Summer crowded that's ok in my book. Just find a way to park somewhere else. I love it there.
Very nice peaceful place going there again soon.
Horrible now that entrance is free at all state parks for CT residents. Absolutely packed with people who would never go there in the first place if they had to pay. Now the people who have always liked to go to state parks have no parking spots. This park's bathrooms were absolutely destroyed, with feces all over the toilets and floor. Full rolls of toilet paper all wet and soggy on the floor. No attendants, no one to complain to, just overcrowding, rude people and filth. What is happening to our state!!
Beautiful place and also part of the Blue trail system!
First time and I loved it!
The Falls was nice. There is a nice picnic area. The beach is small.
Very nice park, it's very big, and there's a lot to explore among the trails, there's even a waterfall, and a small beach. There are also picnic tables and grills!
Amazing small waterfall, not a lot of things to see though.
Good time but, police informed me bathing, bbq'ing, and drinking is not allowed. Also no parking.
Great place for hiking and is very peaceful when you come early in the day.
Awesome place for a family picnic and BBQs
The waterfall is lovely and beach area is fine but there's no enforcement of the rules, so we were surrounded by trash people smoking cigarettes while my kids were trying to play.
Beautiful area. We took family pictures their
This is such a nice little park to bring the family. Picnic tables and charcoal grills for little picnics, a little sand beach surrounding the pond which is shallow enough for the little ones to splash in without too much cause for concern. Restroom & changing area which is convenient to have. Trails for hiking & the waterfall is gorgeous! My kids love it here! I left off one star because the pond can get pretty funky! My kids will still go in, but at times I won't go near it! That's not anyone's fault, but beware of the water quality, they'll close the park periodically if the algae levels are too high so check the website before planning an outing. Otherwise the park is very clean and well taken care of!
Water isn't that clean here. There's no picnic place or bbq place around that falls.
This is really nice place to visit . There is nice walking trail , swimming pool.. and final attraction is waterfalls. We took shower under the fall . And it's amazing . Just be careful when you walk down to the fall . You can put a tent over there .. have places for barbeque ..overall it's nice place to visit
Absolutely beautiful park and walking trails
Great place for hiking but the GPS for some reason bring you to the wrong spot
Good park in a good residential area quit and clean with at pay parking with nice and friendly people. A nice beautiful lake and green yard to have a moment to enjoy it.
Eh, this was an okay place in guess. Was dragged there by my fiance'. I'm just not much into walking to places like this. Awesome place for photography if a photographer can keep so many people photo-bombing their images. I will say it's clean of trash and managed well. No picnicking allowed at the falls.
Glorious park. Bring your pets if you can.
Beautoful place to go for a swim, nice hiking and biking trails. During the week, there iant a lot of people, but on the weekends it gets much busier.
Beautiful trail system in the middle of the city. The big falls were crowded, but we had little falls all to ourselves on our hike. Try the north eastern part of the trail system for a deeper wilderness experience. The main trail (orange) is wide and well maintained. Blue, white, and purple are more wild.
I Love it and I live across the street from Wadsworth falls. It's great during the week days not so many people I just walk there but imagine if there was more parking if you think its unkempt now I used to go with bag to pick up junk left behind which is just rude and ungrateful but there are paid park rangers to make sure no glass bottles and other workers that pick up junk so I stopped picking up the garbage and stealing their jobs.
Beautiful tranquil park for hiking and seeing the falls. Not crowded at all and trails are well marked. From one corner of the park to the other is about 2.5 miles one way.
Very good place for picnic with family. There is a water falls and a pick places and kids to play in water and Sand..
For the area, this is probably a five star nature area. However, if you are someone who hikes frequently or is willing to drive a bit further, you might be a little underwelmed. The highlight of the park is the falls - which I will admit are quite nice. Especially the little pool at the bottom that brave people venture into in the warmer months. I have even seen people climbing the rocks of the falls itself, though I would never recommend that to sane or responsible people or people with loved ones.
Nice peaceful small lake
my family loves it here, truly an amazing experience.
Fun time quiet place. Water is awesome
Close by and easy to find
Nice trail, about 4 miles, with two falls along the way
It’s a beautiful park but could not see the fall!
Very fun place to cool off in the water, family friendly and peaceful unless your near the water lol
It was a last minute thought & we had a wonderful time
Beautiful park especially in the spring and summer
A beautiful place to unwind.
Park isn't bad, doesn't offer much in amenities, but is pretty nonetheless. Needs some TLC to steps, signs, grounds, etc. Worth a visit once in a while with the kiddos.
Nice waterfall but parking is very limited
A lovely place to go with family and/or friends.
It was beautiful and the waterfall was gorgeous
Great trails . Easy for all ages.
Lovely waterfall and scenic trails..
Easy parking, short hike Beautiful.
It was an awesome experience
Awesome place to ride horses! Great footing. Didn’t have to boot horse for ride. Lovely, natural terrain with slight elevations. Perfect for conditioning my older horse without over doing it!
Had a good time
Beautiful park, waterfall and great trails
Great hiking trails, picnic area, and swimming holes
Best place to visite in CT
Amazing small fall but very calm place to relax and explore the jungle.
Basically simple small beach like setting they have picnic tables and built in grills if want to BBQ fun for whole fam.
Nice park for a hike with trails to Little Falls and Big Falls. The later is Wadsworth Falls. You may need to be a bit adventurous as some trails start off with blazers that disappear. Also finding the trail head from the Wadsworth Falls parking lot is a challenge and requires a short walk along the roadside. But trails are well worth the hunt.
This park with waterfalls and beach is located in a quiet town. There are two parking lots; one near the beach and the other near the waterfalls. Get there early parking is limited. Magnificent falls.
Great lol spot just wish parent would teach thier kids how to behave in public places no good home training but other than that will return
Nice waterfall near busy locality of middle town. waterfall is easily accessible from waterfall parking lot. For people who like to hike they can take 1.5 mile long trail from pond parking lot & follow return loop from waterfall to pond parking. Even tough swimming is not allowed but still people don’t hesitate in quickly getting under the waterfall for fun. Waterfall & nature around are very photogenic for shoots.. dogs are allowed but they need to be leashed all the time. Seems safe for kids & families.
Wow what an amazing park. The waterfall is huge and beautiful. This place is amazing. Good parking really close and the park was very clean and kept up very well. Didnt really explore the lake too much but this place is beautiful.
Nice little lake, good picnic areas, not too much walking from parking to the lake area but just one negative mark.... the bathrooms are stinky, not clean at all and a bit more of grills would be a plus. Otherwise, water is pretty clear and the view is pretty good. There are some trails and an amazing waterfall.
Beautiful, relaxing park with easy, well-marked trails and two gorgeous waterfalls. Family and dog friendly. Ideal for a nice walk, though may be not ideal if you're looking for a strenuous hike.
Good picnic spot and nice trail for 2 hrs. Little falls are good to see if water flow is good
I just love it there I would recommend it to anybody
Very pretty with picnic tables and grills under shade from the many water- burch trees next to a rolling stream loaded with schools of minnows that scrambled for cracker crumbs tossed in a pool of clear fresh water just a few meters from the falls. Down side is the people who really don't deserve access to this State Park that leave their garbage; including human excrement, along pathways even though there are well maintained bathrooms convenient for use. What could they be thinking!
Beautifu scenery, very clean, blissful waterfalls, nice people! Plenty of ohito ops!
Its a nice place for leisurely out
There are quite a few waterfalls if you dont mind a long hike
Great Clean and great place to spend with family and friends
Nice trail and beautiful falls
This is a professional photographers paradise. Go early in the morning as the falls quickly become overrun by selfie takers intent on climbing the falls and getting in everyone's shot.
Is pretty nice, just need more table's and a bigger parking lot lol
Just so simple and beautiful. An amazing waterfall that you can get up close too
Good mountain biking if you can the good trails.
Great trails and dog friendly!
Nice easy laid back hiking. Would come back and do a longer loop next time.
Nice place for a leisurely hike(walk). Good for families, small beach and park facilities. Nothing too special in terms of natural beauty.
they could do more to keep the geese away. there is always alot of bird feces on the sand. but other than that its a great area to picnic or let the kids cool down
When I went IT was covered in goose poop..every other time I go ITs nice an clean..but thats Nature I guess lol
Good place to walk on the trails. Nice views either spring summer or fall.
Gorgeous waterfall easily accessible from the parking area. No swimming or picnicking, but great photo ops.
Lots of easy hiking, and nice scenery.
Good place to spend time with family on a weekend. Quite a lot of barbecue grills are available in the park. But the place gets so crowded in weekends it’s hard to find a good spot.
Easy access to the falls from parking
Very beautiful and relaxing place
Water seems to be good to swim. Good place for picnic
A fun place to stop by with friends or family
Great place to relax have a cookout and swim
Awesome place ...Very peaceful... I recommend for someone who loves nature...
Really pretty place. Has 2 entrances. Beautiful falls to take pictures at one entrance and the other has a place to swim in the lake as well as changing rooms and restrooms.
Always a good time. except the rangers pick and choose when they wanna come around and tell someone they can't use a floatie. They told me i can't use one and couple minutes later someone comes in with a whole air bed as a floatie and they went beyond the line and were never told they can't have the floatie.
The place is verry nice but some people are annoying.
Fun hiking with the kids. Not too challenging for them.
It's a decent place to go. But the bathrooms are horrible.
Nice place but dangerous for kids.
Well kept trails. The main falls are spectacular and little falls is more for meditating.
beautiful waterfalls, nice scenery
Loved spending time with my family here today!
Very nice park, nice little lake/beach area, very nice trails to walk the dogs and beautiful waterfalls.
beautifull water falls and the pond area was nice too. just wish there was more parking at the falls.
Love this place nice to take the kids on the summer
Very nice and clean
Great place to hike, walk or bike.
It's a good spot to sit and listen to the waterfall and relax and clear your mind
Nice quiet family fun swimming and cookouts
Great family friendly hiking
Small but peaceful
Ni e experience, awesome place :)
As a Middletown resident, Wadsworth is a perfect summer destination that's close to home. It's not a huge beach but it's a great place to hang out with friends and family, whether you want to swim, lay out on the sand and enjoy the sun, have a cookout, hike the trails, or visit the waterfalls. I love spending weekends here and I always have fun. And as a CT resident, I don't have to worry about paying any fees for parking!
There are 2 entrances, the area with the pond/swimming area on 157 is great if you want to picnic but no view of the falls. yhe other area is smaller but feet from the large falls
Great park to do a BBQ. It has the lake, sand area and the grass area. The bathrooms were terrible so I gave it 4 stars. Besides the bathrooms it's a nice area.
