REVIEWS OF Seven Falls State Park IN Connecticut

Just visited. Needs a lot of TLC. We used to come for picnics and jumping on the rocks but I was very disappointed in the shape it is now. The gates were up at the parking area and the parking area wasn't taken care of. Very disappointed. Hopefully if we go again it will be in better shape.

Great place for a small day trip. Beautiful scenery and really a relaxing area. I would recommend this to all ages.

This park is super quiet, very clean and the river is beautiful the crystal clear water that one can bathe the only thing is that you have to walk between the stones with great caution is very good to meditate.

Leslie Marroquin

Great hike. 7.5 hrs for us

Alexis Vargas

I like this spot for a nice hike on the Mattabessett Trail or a relaxing time jumping around the rocks and enjoying the water. Parking is abundant and comfortable and it's conveniently located off of Rt.9 exit 10 going like a half mile south on Old Saybrook Rd. They have picnic tables and punlic grills but I've never used them. They could use a trash can or two; there's always a bottle here and there which means people are pigs but also means there's no trash cans.

Seven Fall, Bear Hill, and Mattabessett Trail is a 8.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Middletown, Connecticut that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult.

Beautiful....however the lack of respect humanity has for nature is appalling. Trash scattered around the entrance and near the water

Google driving sent me to a house, not an entrance. Could not find a way into the park

The waterfall part is cool and pretty. The hike is nice, a bit challenging at times but not too bad. Just off the trail at either the beginning or end of the loop, depending which way you go, right by the power lines, is a weird area with intentionally stacked rock formations. It's looks like some kind of pagan shrine thing. I can't find any other references to it anywhere on the internet, so I don't know if it's new or something. It does look creepy though. The red granite stones are intentionally place in the middle of white granite stones in a way that had my wife convinced it had been used for an animal sacrifice. I wish I took pictures.

Really cool little park with the regular assortment of trails and some decent views here and there. Nothing super noteworthy, but a nice place to get a short/medium hike in if you don't live too far. Keep your eyes peeled for some rocky areas to do a little bouldering if that's your thing, as well. I wouldn't go terribly far out of my way to check this place out, but if you live relatively close by do yourself a favor and give it a shot. I've never seen more than a few cars parked here, so I imagine it's a bit unknown/underrated and you'll probably have most of the place to yourself.

Hike power lines with my dog Babe, ending at Seven Falls. Nice workout. About 3 miles. Babe loved having free run of trail.

Vickie Vitale

Love walking on rocks in the water.

Thomas Essery

Nice trail for a short hike. Very well marked (and it needs to be this time of year at least). Reasonably easy for most part but a couple of short but challenging rock scrambles that might not be suitable for everyone

Ant Dess

I love this place

A hidden gem in the middle of CT. This trail is like a full fledged video game adventure, but make sure to pack water and start early, because it's huge!

Giovanna Marshall

It's great picnic stop with a beautiful brook to enjoy. the power lines diminish the beauty. As an added bonus we observed a male nudist bathing himself at the falls.

Carlos Negron

Place with grills and a lot of trails for hiking, theres a pond and a brook but you cant

Elizabeth Borkowski

Had a spectacular experience and love hiking here as a family. Total must

The water itself was beautiful. The park area is on need of significant work. It is too baren. It needs vegatation. In many places it has been washed out. With a little money, and manpower, and time for shade to grow in, it could be a wonderful setting for a picnic or relaxing visit.

Great place to hit some hiking on CT'S blue trails! If you want to see the waterfalls they are roaring in the winter but dry up quite a bit in summer.

Sean McG. Powell

A beautiful spot for a picnic, with picnic benches and fire pits, at the parking area. I did a 7-mile hike that started here, and wound its way up to some dramatic ledges overlooking the forest below.

Rebecca Taddei

Nice for a longer, relaxing hike.

Jessica Mercier

great place for great views and beautiful terrain

Loved these trails. The rock scrambles were so much fun and the views were beautiful. I can't wait until the leaves come back.

I visited seven falls state park when their was ice/snow on the ground. The hike itself isn't too technical until you get under the power lines. There is a large rock formation that you climb up, which was unexpected but fun! When you look out over the terrain from on top you get a sense of sadness with the power lines cutting through the trees.

Jaime Haynes

Place has a bad reputation in the past of being a little....um... "off " but that is from quite a few years ago . It's very much cleaned up. beautiful Park very photographic well worth the stop if ur from out of town and near the area.

good park

Matthew

We came here from about an hour away because it got some great reviews. It has well marked trails and some good variety of landscape and honestly some really fantastic views. The only detractor from the park is the recently constructed power lines going through some potentially incredible views of the park. It was certainly the majority of what we saw. I'm sure after a few years when the park regrow a bit it will regain some of its beauty, but at the moment just expect a great deal of deforestation, gravel roads, and impromptu paths created by heavy machinery.
