We love to go on walks here. My 2 year old thinks it's great! It's fun to do the big loop and look at all the historic features of this park.

Dorothy Cimmino

Great family memories over generations have been made here.

Street Address 499 Black Rock Turnpike, Easton, Connecticut. Information building. Bathroom below, NOT their fault..toilets have awful stains in them, but it's from the mineral rich water. Not the fault of the cleaners, it's the water. A clean indoor bathroom. Staff was friendly .

This is a favorite place for me to walk, to think in peace or just get a little fresh air. There's the recreational side and the historical side which is called Connecticut's Valley Forge. You should visit to find out why, especially in the Fall when they hold their annual event with all sorts of Colonial era reenactors.

Putnam is great. The loop is unpaved dirt and stones and an easy walk, and you’ll get a little history lesson about the revolutionary war in the process. It probably takes twenty or thirty minutes at a leisurely pace. The little pond near the entrance is full of bullfrog tadpoles in the spring, and there are some tiny caves in the middle of you’re feeling adventurous. Other options: Huntington’s nearby has longer routes and more trails, if you’re looking for something more arduous. The other half of Putnam Park on the other side of route 58 has swing sets and a paved loop (though more hilly). Sagatuck in Redding has nice trails as well.

Tim Collins

Historically this is a great place. Visitor center is good and the museum is good but both are limited on exhibits. It was worth the trip for us because we were on a historical journey.

Ted Mullen

Make sure to check out the small caves too.

Pretty park. Not too large. Roadway in/out frought with major potholes; drive S-L-O-W-L-Y! Two public restrooms but 1 is closed due to vandalism. Dog friendly (on leash) and bags provided. A fair amount of wooden picnic tables yet not many grills. Ample parking.

Cool walk with cool history.

We enjoyed a peaceful walk through the short mile long loop where the army wintered in the late 18th century. By chance, we happened on the annual reenactment including firing the artillery piece. There were many dedicated people providing information about the conditions the soldiers lived in. The museum was closed but the visitor center at the entrance of the park had a few interesting exhibits.

Right before you walk in grab a self guided tour map. And go in. Its not a huge park but its very nice and relaxing.

Robert Adams

Good state park with a lot of historical sites. Most of the park is paved or gravel so there is very little hiking available. The park is split down a road with the historical structures on one side and a paved path through the woods on the other side.

Punam Park is a wonderful place. I have been visiting it since I was ten years old - now - decades later - I still enjoy it. The Historical structures from when General Putnam and his soldiers wintered here during the revolutionary war are simple - but for children and adults it gives one perspective on what the forces were having to endure in the fight for independence from Britain. Over the years I have enjoyed coming to walk or hike around the fairy easy trails with friends. Its a great place to talk while taking in nature. It's trails are easy enough for those who are not at the top of their fitness - but enjoyable for a run or brisk walk for those that are.

Bruce Novicky

Great park! Both sides have nice paths to walk and cool scenery. There is a museum on one side with lots of cool stuff. Also a 2nd smaller museum. A few off shoot paths as well and an old cave with steps leading up the side of it. The unpaved side has an old hand pump well, a great field for kite flying and some cool buildings built to the period. There is also a damn and a pond that is full of frogs and a ton of fun to show the kids.
