REVIEWS OF Pachaug State Forest IN Connecticut

tom robinson

Beautiful area, lots of hiking trail, mtb trails. Lee rd. Requires 4x4 at one point. Very deep puddle. Lots of fishing, pond and stream.

Devon Inge

Really nice clean area to ride around and enjoy the scenery. There are a few trails for you to drive on none of which really requiring and 4x4 or off road capability however do be careful on some of the roads in the area after a heavy rain as there may be some pooling. There are picnic areas and camping areas in the forest. During the week when I went there was no one in sight. It seemed like I had the forest to myself and was able to stop on the trails for plenty of photos.

Aaron Huntley

Walking and exploring the Pachaug State Forest was so quiet and peaceful today. It was a great way to wind down from the hustle and bustle of the world. I seriously recommend taking the time to enjoy the wonders of nature before it dissappears.

One of the best place to go kayaking

It's a forest! But side from hiking and biking and trekkingng with Fido, you can camp, play ball, and go fishing! (At least while there's no gun range

Hiked part of the blue trail today. Nice and quiet. A bit rocky, but walkable. Typical fire access road. Only a few bugs bothered me.

A great place to walk , a must see is the new statue dedicated to all who worked to preserve and create a living legacy for decades . Thanks to Marty, Sharon , Ted and hundreds of others !!

Sarah Dorina Smith-Dufton

Love hiking here.

Phillip DeLuca

Easy to see entrance, right by the RI state line.

Marc Bond

We went there with a large group (50+ people) of people and the campsite was big enough to accommodate all of us with room to spare. Some families had to share a fire pit but it really wasn't inconvenient. It was really beautiful there and there was a hiking trail right off of our site that went through the forest. Also, the bathrooms were clean which was a plus. My family loved everything about it.

Frankie Marie

Awesome for jeep ride through. Especially when it snows it makes for great scenery and bumpy fun ride. But as signs mentions continous at own risk. One road is a dangerous one and id advise only do it if you think your jeep can handle it and be prepared if you have to make car repairments after the ride through if needed though.

Tanya Credit

Great place to relax and enjoy nature!

Chester Berghinzo

Roads are in very bad condition this year, but great as usual

James Engel

Peaceful.

Jayendranath Krishnamoorthy

Nice site, well maintained with one drawback. The camp site has lots of big gravels and it is hard to stakes

Lance Farman

Pretty, but literally intermittent wafts of raw sewage weren't of positive part of the Park's asthetic.

Ogre Wilkinson

Beautiful, well maintained, trails everywhere, picnic tables and grills, lakes to sit by highly recommend

Jay Fortier

Alot of great trails to explore

Took a hike from the boat launch today. Great little park and an interesting hike. The gypsy month damage is unbelievable. Hope all the trees come back in the fall or next year.

Giovanna Czerkiewicz

Great area for sunrises and sunsets!

Brad Porter

One of my most favorite state forests. Also lots of fishing to do close by.

Logan Parrette

Spectacular state forest in CT! Largest in the state as a matter of fact! You can do it all here...whether it’s a walk on the beaten path or if you want to take the “veterans way” and create your own never-walked path!

Amanda Franklin

One of my favorite places to go camping. Dogs allowed in the campsites. Semi private sites... Lots of trails, has two camp grounds.. One you can bring your horses too.

The only State Park in Connecticut that allows plated motorcycles on there trail system. All of the dual sport motorcyclists seem to enjoy this park tremendously, myself included. Lots of miles of great scenic trails to explore.

Bonnie Viscount

Plenty of hiking, not a lot of amenities but perfect for a weekend in the woods.

jesse fitzpatrick

It's the woods. You hike here. You camp here. You swim and fish here.

Maegan Borella

Love this area, so many trails! Plus there is 4 backpacking shelters you can reserve with a permit for one night each. Beautiful hikes in between each spot.

Laurent Mullen

We went there to see the Rhododendron Sanctuary but be warned, they're not in bloom until late June- early July. Otherwise, it's a lovely park.

Christine Corbett

Beautiful drive, quick drive. Speeding can be a problem on this road. Great running area but definitely use reflecting gear even in daylight.

David Stevens

Great place to go hiking and also has a great lake. I hiked 18 miles on the Nehantic trail from Green Falls to Mt. Misery. It was great, but there were some places where the water from this weeks rain flooded the area.

Sean O'Connell

Awesome

David

Great place. So many wonderful hikes

Fredy Sagastume

Really good

Melissa Lamprey

I love this place. It is very relaxing and has lots of trails.

Phil Baton

A little known, well hidden gem within the state of Connecticut. It doesn't have much in the way to offer as far as paid attractions but the options for fun are left to the imagination. Hiking, fishing, camping, swimming, canoeing, picnicking, as other activities are all possibilities in the largest nature reserve in the Constitution State. I have grown up in and around Patchaug and I return at least once every year. I highly suggest entering from the Voluntown side as the roads are actually paved, but for the adventurous person out there, any access road will get you there. Not too far from here is Hopeville Pond state park and Green Falls Campground, both awesome places to enjoy the outdoors as well.

John Cohen

Thanks good luck

Robert Baruffa

Beautiful corner of Connecticut great trails.

Dennis Snide

This is a beautiful, quite and majestic forest in eastern Connecticut. The largest forest in the state. The last green valley, eastern Connecticut. And the state office DAS wants to put a state police shooting range in it! Don't get it. To bad! We the state lose again!

Brad C

Beautiful landscape and fun lore behind the area. Especially for people (mostly teens) looking for a scary/fun experience. Lots of ghost stories and wives tales

MarkG

Really pretty place for a walk on a perfect fall day. Deep blue cloudless sky with amazing colors still to be found on the trees. Hiked up to overlook on Mount Misery. Not flat by any means but not difficult or dangerous. Enjoyed the hike allot.

Great forest just a stones throw away from Boston and Hartford. Visit Mt. Misery, which is a relaxed hike with very little elevation gain. Camp at the near by green falls campground and enjoy the swimming at the lake. Be prepared for no access to running water though.

SAM DUCHARME

A wo derful place to hike fish and picnic. Well marked trails are easy to follow and make you feel like you are all alone. There is a closed road that travels into the forest for easy walking or if you are pushing a stroller. There is trout fishing in the Nachaug river(name?).
