This is a pretty nice public beach - sand is decently free of trash, it's mostly family-friendly (save for the occasional whiff of smoke of one kid or another). The arcade is old school and pretty fun. We've only ever been for a company gathering in the port and starboard room, which is pretty run down. It's not the cleanest or the newest but the staff is always great. Food is just okay. This place also has a small amusement park area - haven't been yet but it looks like it could be fun.

So beautiful & peaceful! There was more going on & places to eat and sit on the clean boardwalk than expected. The beach was crowded but not overly so. It was very civilized and well maintained. The sand & water were clean. Loved the mini golf course, park and parking lot. The quaint town is a must experience!

At Ocean Beach Park, it was a beautiful afternoon & evening for the last Monday night Classic Car Show of the Summer. There were a few dozen vehicles ranging from the 1940's up through the 2010's. Trophies were awarded to the top 5 vehicles. Radio station WKNL provided awesome music during the show.

Haven't been since I was young. This visit brought back a lot of memories. The funny part was that we were in the same spot that my mom always frequented when we went there. Bathroom cleaner kept bathroom up to par as best she could.

Very nice beach just a little to crowded and not enough life guards!! Don’t like how there was a fight over beach space with 2 family’s and no one came to see what was going on told life guard and she said that’s not my job!! Just that little incident!! Definitely going back besides that

Little expensive as they charge 23$ per car for parking but beach itself is very well maintained and good happening place. Place shuts at 7PM.. Good thing is they have three life guards on duty.

OBP is in desperate need of an overhaul and renovations galour. I'd like to get back to the point where they actually had pro wrestling matches better concerts and when it was actually the place to be.... seemingly not so much anymore... I feel like if they put just a little bit of fundingg into that place {maybe a little upgrade to all of the facilities...it could be an awesome serious pillar of the Southeastern Connecticut shoreline & not just what seems like a run down boardwalk who's attraction was the happening place to be 40yrs ago. I love the Monday evening car shows still going on which are by far my favorite things still goin' on down there!

Came in the off season so idk how much parking or what the restaurants or kiddy rides are like. However, the beach was open. I have never seen a beach with so many ridiculous rules. No playing with balls, no music, no alcohol, no bare feet, no nothing. Should have just had a sign saying NO HAPPINESS!

Beach was great kids loved it water was not wavy. Biggest problems had and it’s not the first time.... the concession stand was HORRIBLE!!!! Extreme wait time almost an hour they are unorganized have no clue how to run a business, giving the food out that you waited for an hour for to Simone who just ordered there’s. I literally had to yell at them several times! And trust me when I tell you this happened to most of the people on line. Stay away from there pack a lunch or leave and get food somewhere else definitely not worth the wait.

Has been a great space for years, I went today for the car show,, turn out with sparse compared to the usual due to the threat of rain. Nevertheless everyone seemed to be having a good time. Nice assortment of later model horsepower with a few mid-50 high-end Street Cruisers a couple of Highly modified four-wheel drives and even a wonderful twin engine bucket t.. while only three stars are showing I do actually give it three and a half Stars... I found the space that I surveyed today to be clean and if you just want to get out and stretch your legs there's plenty of Boardwalk! Off the boardwalk here are a couple of seasonal attractions in Strolling distance... enjoy!

The arcade is in much need of renovation, it looks like they are stuck in the 80's. The water slide is nothing like what they show in the pictures. The beach was okay it you want an inexpensive outing with the family. I drove two an a half over with the family based on some of the reviews and the pictures, and I must say that I was not impressed.

First time I have been here since I was a child. We didn't want to drive all the way to NH, so here we are! The beach is clean with lots of trash receptacles which was nice. The water was perfect temperature and watching all the boats and even a submarine was awesome! No waves since it's not open ocean, but the kids srill had a blast. Waterslides a little outdated but again the kids had a blast. Great parking! The cheeseburger right on the beach was unbelievable quality...we will be back!

This is a perfect beach for all family members, things to do for everyone, clean beach sand, well monitored , it cost me $23 per vehicle for the whole day, snack bar right on the beach, water games area for children and shallow Rocky area of the beach for interested persons to collect hermit crabs, shells, stones , and finally there is a cluster of stores by the boardwalk... Oh yeah! And shower heads to wash right as you step out of the sand... Enjoy the sun... I did

Overall we enjoyed our visit. However, some beach goers play their music extremely loud the entire day ! Can get somewhat annoying. Alcohol consumption by some visitors was noticeable right out in the open. Bathrooms definitely need more cleaning throughout the day to keep it sanitary. Trash barrels are emptied regularly, so good job keeping beach clean.

Beach was decent.. Probably the better one in CT. I was expecting a bigger boardwalk with more shops, etc. and a bigger beach area. We went on a weekday so it wasn't so crowded, which was nice.

Meh, overpriced parking and i only went to this location after reading an article that shows a Lighthouse. The Lighthouse is a few miles away and on private property. I was disappointed to say the least. Would be great for a family and kids but I prefer rocky interesting terrain. This was a typical sandy beach, not my thing.

I bring my grandchildren and they love the water park and looking for hermit crabs and crabs in the canal. Also, the beach is clean, the bathrooms are clean too. We have been coming since 1982. We love this beach.

Nice clean beach, great place to take the family, the only problem I encountered was waiting to get into the parking lot,plus you need 25.00 dollars to park so make sure to have that. It does have clean bath houses to change into after to get the sand off before your car. All in all it was a pleasant experience.

Where to begin... found a parking space, arrived by customers smoking weed... Not one car, either. The staff has no clue about simple operations. I asked three different people where the lockers were, so i could lock up my wallet. The first person sent me to the ice cream window, said they could help me. They sent me upstairs to the "Cafe" which was closed, but i stepped inside. They sent me to the pool area. The last person had no clue what i was asking about. I didn't realize "lockers" was a foreign word. So he told me the pool was closing. Yeah... that's it. The whole time, weed was making my asthma freak out. I found the least populated area (not their fault), we decided to simply hide my wallet in our beach stuff. Coolers weren't allowed on the beach, yet everyone had one, along with very disruptive, very loud music. Garbage was everywhere. Literally, chicken wings buried in the sand. Pringles cans, condom wrappers, half smoked cigarettes and joints strewn about.

Great spot for waterfront activities for all ages offering theme park type activities along with hiking opportunities. I have now learned there are showers too! Ask a staff member for guidance to them . Be sure to have a soft serve ice cream it’s wonderful!

Fun place to visit with family! Lots of other things to do on the beach like miniature golf, arcade, merry go round, water slide. There is an additional cost unfortunately, but you still have a good time!

Great place for a nice walk! If you like beach volleyball, there are several courts where you can practice it. $23 parking during weekends, including the entrance for all the passengers. Mini-golf, arcade and pool not included in the parking fee.

I've frequently visited ocean beach since a child with your regular minor issues on the beach but nothing major. Have also attended plenty of the themed nights on the beach as an adult, and might I say new London beach had come a ways over the years. But tonight, the first time i decided to go to the soundbar cafe has me completely disgusted by the prejudice/ racist treatment/ service from the bartender. After waiting patiently and SEVERAL other guests (not of color) continuously INSISTED that the bartender serve the guests( which happened to be me of color)that was clearly waiting before the 6 people that the bartender chose not to even acknowledge the fact that I was even present and ended my night rocking out with Prince. So sadly to say PROCEED WITH CAUTION ... if you're clearly a person of color, your business might be appreciated more else where.

Our favorite "off season" place to walk. Boardwalk with expansive views of Long Island Sound, and mouth of Thames River. On clear days can see east toward Groton/Mystic; south to Fishers Island; southwest towards Long Island; west towards Waterford. "On season" place for swimming, sunbathing, and various events. Two event halls available for functions. Plus, a newly built outdoor pavilion for functions. Year round bar with ocean views.

We had the two boys (12 & 14) with us at Ocean beach today. I think this is the last year they could enjoy the kiddie rides, but the beach was lovely, the water cool & refreshing. Also, the boardwalk and bathrooms were comfortable with vintage charm. Having various snack foods nearby was very convenient, though not much in the way of high-end meal options. The teens LOVED the waterside, so that may bring us back for a few years. Great little day trip for families from G'bury!

The town and beach location is beautiful probably the best part about it. Beach itself is okay, not the best, but its also new england. Very small boardwalk not much to it other than rides for children. Good spot for a day trip.

It was nice, but at 10am the ocean break was so rocky and full of broken shells, my feet hurt so bad going in the water barefoot. But after the tide switched it was much better. Nice beach, but I dont think I'll be returning. The merry go round was broke, the bathroom was disgustingly hot, and the snack bar area was so hot inside as well. I rather go to R.I

I visited the park on Thursday August 8th 2019. The staff were amazing. The grounds were nicely kept as well. I am however disappointed with security of the parking lot. My vehicle was broken in to and my belongings as well as my partners were stolen. Upon calling the police to file a report, we were informed there were no security cameras operational in the lot. I might as well consider it a loss. We were not the only victims of thievery that day. I expected more from a facility that charges for parking to have a better handle on security and theft prevention. I will not be returning to establishment in the future.

This beach has gone down hill over the years. There is only 1 bathroom/changing room open this year. Last year there were what they call ocean flees and the showers on the board walk were not working to rinse my kids off. Just over all very disappointed with what once was a beautiful beach park.

Gorgeous off-season. We will be visiting on-season now that we have a child. Don't like that we won't be able to leave without being charged again to park. The neighborhood is pretty bad. It isn't in a nice area at all. Be mindful if you plan on doing anything outside the park.

Normally I love this place. They were absolutely not prepared for the holiday volume. It was chaos at the entry gate! When lot was full and closed, parking redirected to local streets and the entry fee was $7 per person. Very very disappointed! Shame on me - it was my 1st 4th going to the beach. I went to Harkness Mansion less than 1.5 miles away instead and salvaged the day.

It a beautiful beach that has alot to do between the volley net, swimming pool if you dont like the salt water, a water park and little stores and food. It had a stream where you can go grab catching and cross over to go to another part of the beach. It definitely a good beach to go visit and have summer fun.

It was a great family trip. We enjoyed the rocky area and seeing so many baby crabs and hermit crabs. We didn't get to experience everything like the waterside's and we missed the arcade but we did utilize the splash pad and the mini golf which was fun. The green could use some updating but it looks like it was in progress. We loved that there was a pavilion to eat because my husband doesn't like to eat on the beach. He doesn't like sandy sandwiches haha. The bathrooms were clean. There was a kids comedian show going at 7pm which was cool. My youngest enjoyed some of the kiddy rides. The water was warm enough to take a dip which I normally can't swim in New Hampshire or Maine so that was great too! All around fun day trip!

It's a nice clean beach. They have a few rides for small children, arcade, souvenir shop, ice cream and a water slide. They also have a gym you can get a membership for. The bathrooms are clean.

2.5 stars really. The beach looked nice but had way too many sand flies. It was disgusting and annoying. Also, not too many people early on, but by noon it was packed and lots of loud people playing their music on blast and the occasional smell of weed. The $8 per person price for the pool can be hefty on top of the $23 for the parking and the pool isn't even heated. The sprinkler park and playground for the kids is nice and my kids (and I) really enjoyed the arcade with a lot of retro games. They also had some amusement rides which I didn't try. Overall fun, but not sure if I would make this a recurring family event for the price tag if I can't enjoy the beach properly due to the sand flies and overcrowding.

Beautiful, intimate beach that offers a wide array of family fun. The beach itself doesn't get overly crowded and the water is very clean. If the beach is not your thing, they offer an olympic sized swimming pool, along with water slides! Plus be sure to check out the rock barriers towards the end of the boardwalk, great site for quality pictures! Plenty of showers / changing areas, as well as several food options.

Nice beach for family holidays. Parking fee. There is a swimming pool. The same fountain for children and swings. This is something that is free. There are also paid atractions. There are barbecue tables. The beach itself has a gentle coast, which is good for children

Very nice beach! Would be great if they had better service. Concession is very slow and things just arent neat and collect. Lots of cigarette butts lm the beach and lifeguards font enforce rules such as no standing on rocks or not allowing people to play music. But the beach itself is very beautiful, just needs a strong manager to lead the group.

We love this place. Good price to get in, clean ,lots of things to do for all ages. We love the views . Nice rides for the kids, we have never done the waterslides though. Nice splash pad for the kids under 8. Water isn't too Rocky. There is a nice gift shop with things you may have forgotten, as well as tshirts ect. Snack bar is lacking ..not menu wise, but staff wise. Very slow, not much motivation. Young kids seem to be more into social aspects than working. Some lady came to just get a drink with a huge line, cut in front of about 25 of us. When someone called the waitress out on it she said I will be right with you in not a very nice way., Than proceeded to have an attitude with the person . Certain nights of the week there is entertainment, movies or fireworks. We spend the whole day here. We have been coming here for about three years. Reminds me of being a kid and the way seaside heights was when I was growing up.

Blast from the past kind of beach with an arcade pools water slides and rides!!! Also has a food court with slightly high prices concession food and they do events most nights in the summer. Great place if your visiting the area! A few things to remember. You do pay to park. There are lifeguards and.............. They have mini golf

A fine beach. They have everything you need for a fully-functional beach experience: water, sun, sand. My only complaint: when I wanted to run along the beach I discovered that the whole beach was only about a half a mile wide. So you can't really take a long relaxing walk on the beach like you can in Destin, St. Petersburg, Florida. If you want a five star beach experience, you have to go to Florida, Costa Rica, the Caribean islands. But you cannot beat this beach for the quality/cost ratio, assuming you already live in the general vicinity. FYI: No alcohol allowed except in "designated" spots, (but could not find designated spots).

Nice clean beach. 23 dollars to park, pool and water slides are an additional cost. Food also available on the boardwalk. I was there on a weekend, it gets crowded early and the traffic down the street to the main entrance is bumper to bumper cars. So it’s best to go early.

Love it. The beach water is clear, the admission cost is fair and the sand is clean. The bathrooms are a little dirty and unpleasant, but it's a beach bathroom - what do you expect? I don't really dabble with the food or other offerings including the rides, but they're there.

This is the beach I frequent most often during the summer months. It's closest to the town I live in even though it's a 45-minute ride. Relatively clean and usually not packed even on holidays. It's more coming then are there beaches. The waves are and big so it's a great place to go and actually relax in the water. I do think the cost of parking is getting a little outrageous though. $23 because it was the weekend? That's a bit obscene. $17 during the week isn't much better. Lots of options. Sand, games, ice cream and even a gym.

My family and I have been going here for years. We live about an hour and a half away and have other beaches closer to us but there isn't a beach better than this one. We love it here! The beach is clean, water is warm enough to swim in, water spray park for the kids, shallow cove area to catch hermit crabs, and much more! We prefer going here during the week because weekends do get crowded. The fee to park is worth paying for a beach that is well taken care of. I am looking forward to spending many more beach days here.

It may have just been the weather and tide but the water was clear, the perfect temperature and depth too. The waves weren't too rough either. There were a lot of interesting craft coming into the harbor, they could be seen from the beach, sailboats and even a submarine. The beach did get far too over crowded though, and the noisy children got annoying. It seems to be a very popular spot for kids. There's food for sale on the board walk, which was convenient. There's some interesting wildlife too, if you can escape the crowds. On a nature path off to the side of the parking lot it was much quieter, we saw so many egrets.

Gorgeous park, beautiful beach. They have everything for a nice day out. The sand is gorgeous and they have an Olympic size pool along with water slides. They also have a very nice boardwalk with a huge pavilion at one end, perfect for lunch or spending time with family. There are also bathrooms available. I am extremely happy with this park and definitely will be returning in the future for day trips.

Loved it. They have a volleyball court, splash pad, they have rode pools, a creamery, boardwalk, gift shop and it was so clean. In the 3 hours I was there I saw them constantly changing the trash the bathrooms were well maintained and there are so many lifeguards there.

what a great little gem in the rough if you get a chance you should really go here because it is well worth it especially on Monday nights with the car show and they have a number of different offerings during the week you should look up on their website for the New London area. Monday nights there is no charge to get in if the car show is there. the infrastructure does not very well support the location but if you can go there because it's a nice little diamond in the rough

It's a fun place to get away and take the kids. The bathrooms ARE ALWAYS DISGUSTING unless you get there when the park first opens, at that point they are decent ! It also annoys me how as a local resident there are very few times they do not open up a separate opening for season pass holders. Sometimes during holidays they do, but the first few hot busy weekends of summer they should accommodate season pass holders WITHOUT A DOUBT !!!!!!!

Overall it's a nice beach. The sand is not all littered with trash and was nice to walk on. The sand by the water wasn't too bad either and there wasnt alot of shells or rocks to hurt your feet. The one thing I was disappointed in was not having any changing stations in the men's bathroom. My wife said the one in the women's bathroom was blocked and not accessible. The seagulls are a bit out of control as well. People need to realize they should be placing food in coolers or sealed bags when leaving their spot unattended or else the birds will find it.

The beach itself is Perfect. I've never encountered softer sand in the north east. There are some options for kids with the carousel ride and other kiddy rides available. Also has a water slide and volleyball nets pre-set. Unfortunately, I wish there were more food options available. There is a restaurant that serves seafood and then another one that serves junk food. The junk food is open later, but the restaurant's kitchen closes early but will continue to stay open to serve drinks. It was the only disappointment in my visit. It's in the afternoon that you want real food, and that's when their only real restaurant closes

Nice beach with lots to do for the family. Clean water and surrounding area with places to get some shade, picnic, put trash (which is rare on beaches), and rinse off. Giving 4 stars only because it could be a pricey day. It was $17 to park on a Tuesday afternoon, which only included the splash pad. To go into the pool it was $8pp, then there was a water park (which I only noticed the cost for the slide being $10), mini golf and a carnival which had ticket costs. There was also a little beach store and restaurant, which I didn't get to check out either, but looked nice. Overall, it was a nice experience, and would love to go back with more $ to experience some of the other offerings.

This was our first time to Ocean Beach. It was well staffed with lifeguards, was very clean, and everyone was having such a good time. A really good crowd and mix of people. The parking was more expensive than they showed on the website ($15) but well worth it. We are definitely going back.

It's ok. The food stand could use some supervision. Poor kids were overwhelmed. They had to stop taking orders so they could fulfill outstanding orders. Poor communication with the cooks. They would write the orders on the boxes, then just shout out what the food was...."chicken sandwich....cheeseburger"....they said they could not ask for the customers names anymore...which is silly...so you wait for an order to be shouted that may or not be yours...The beach was beachy and clean.

Great beach! It's really clean, white sand, the water is clear, not rocky at all. Parking wasn't too bad. The pool was really nice, rides looked a little questionable but to be fair we didn't actually try any. Great place for families!

My favorite Beach. I live 3 hrs away ,but will drive there because it is quiet, and it was always clean. Despite the abundance of trash cans, this time the beach was dirty, not sure if they rake the sand like some other beaches. Need to have more patrols walk the beach as seems there is an uptic on theft,so dont leave your items unattended. Despite these issues, I will return again next year.

We just moved to this area, so we bought the parking pass for $80 or $85. In the off-season parking is free. Nice, large beach. Plenty of room to sprawl out (we got there around noon on a bright Sunday, but had no trouble finding an area to sit near the water). Plenty of parking, large bathrooms, and even a concession stand with icecream, burgers, nachos, salads, and more. We have yet to visit the water park, rides, or arcade. We just sat on the beach and enjoyed the day.
