Very good camping spot all around. My family has been going to this spot now for 13 years. and never a complaint. Very clean, all around. Bathrooms are cleaned twice a day. The lake is the best part! and biking around the lake was always a fun thing.

A very nice park on the waramaug lake in Litchfield, CT. Got ample parking space just opposite to the lake and it's a very neat and tidy place. Water was freezing chill by April beginning, so if you are planning to take a dip visit only after May. The excellent landscape and water view around the lake give great photo backgrounds.

We camped here two nights during the week in mid-June. Nice, big campsites, quiet people at night. Beautiful view of stars at night, the lake in the evening. We took our kayak out on the lake one evening. Very relaxing and scenic. There are beautiful drives along both sides of the lake. Park is fairly well run, but is missing a few essentials. For instance, there are no wi-fi hotspots, and even the WiFi in the office is spotty. I do understand a state park not having electricity at the sites--but no water spigot? That's a first for me, to have to use the water from the bathroom spigot, and I've been in many state parks in this nation.

Great waterfront park in Litchfield county. Some sites will accommodate RVs. There is a public beach with parking for day-trippers, kayak rentals and a snack shop. Picturesque roads and homes make for a great 8-mile loop around the lake. A winery nearby (next to the Hopkins Inn) offers tastings on weekends. No dogs or alcohol. Camp sites are often sold out so book in advance!

Large campsites. They are right next to each other though, so if it is full, not much privacy. Very clean. Easy access to the lake for swimming, fishing or kayaking/ canoeing (you can rent if you don't have your own. Nice hiking trail up the adjacent ridge (approx a mile long). They sell ice and firewood for cash. Bring everything else. 6 miles or so to the nearest grocery store. A nice family camping park.

This place is super great. Bathrooms were clean, no smell. Super quiet. There were fish in the water. Good indication of how clean the water is. My kids love everything about the park. Even the ride from NYC was amazing. One thing that I personally love is the fact that no body is playing music. That's a plus

We stayed 1 night camping there and experience is great. Camping store is having ice($2) and fire woods($5) and open until night. All camp sites are having picnic table and fire pit and those camping areas are big. Camping area is having grass surface with large trees. Not allow to hang anything in trees. Place is really nice with lake facing views.

Awful facilities, poorly managed and terrible campsites. The waterside public areas unmaintained and carpeted in goose droppings. Warning on the canoe building warning of toxic algae in water. One side of beach sign says keep clear of lifeguard stand other side says no lifeguard on duty. Stay away.

So many things are wrong with this place! No alcohol, no hammocks allowed. The bathrooms are so gross! Awful customer service. With the cabins they don't tell you that the door will lock when you shut it. This happened to us so we walked to the office and no one was there! It was 7:30. They were supposed to close at 8:00. We had no cell service. We had to use the emergency phone to call for help. It took well over an hour for someone to show up. They make you take out your own trash when checking out. Staff was very strange. No one was that helpful at all. I will not be returning ever.

I find these reviews helpful so I thought I'd add my 2 cents. Camped here with my 9 year old daughter and wife. Camp sites are large with picnic table, fire ring and plenty of room to park. Neighbors are close and there are no trees blocking the campsites. This is only a problem if you have lousy neighbors. We were next to really nice people so it enhanced the experience. Clean bathroom facilities close to campsites. Slop sinks to wash dishes. Seemed family friendly and had some organized activities for kids. Lake is beautiful but would agree with other reviews about goose poop being prevalent around lake. It mostly got quiet around 10:00pm but there are always a few knuckleheads to don't care and play loud music. Overall a good experience. If you are biker, this is a great place.

A Connecticut gem. The campground is well maintained, and there is a snack shack on site that sells meals and some camping supplies. Sandy beach swim area was packed, and there are kayaks and canoes for rent. No alcohol permitted - which meant the atmosphere had a solid G rating. And that's a good thing! The road around the lake seemed popular with bikers, but I would hesitate to ride it with young kids - too narrow and busy. There is a winery at the other end of the lake that gives a generous pour in their tasting room if you want a break from camping

Very pleasant. There is a beach and area of shaded grass by a little area of the lake that has been roped off and cleared of weeds. The toilet facilities are spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful (eg. gave us directions). However, the area open to the public is TINY and understandably very crowded. But on a hot day when we were desperate to cool down, this did just the trick.

Decent state campground in a part of the country where finding camping of any sort is a challenge. No dogs allowed (for better or for worse). The camp sites are right on top of each other - "field style." All that said, this location provides excellent access to the New Preston, CT area, which is truly something special. Your enjoyment of this campground will largely depend on what style of camping you prefer.

Lake Waramaug was a nice little campsite. It was close enough to NYC that we could do the whole trip while the little ones were napping. The campsite was very well manicured witu multiple bathroom and shower buildings. The bathrooms and showers were neat and stocked with soap and toilet paper too. The showers had really strong water pressure and they were free, but there weren't too many, one per gender per bathroom building. I could see that being an issue if all the sites were occupied. The campsites we're rather large with their own fire pit, picnic table and enough spaces for a whole bunch of tents. I don't think there's a limit on tents, just people per site. The campsite sells wood, ice and has a breakfast place which has the standard fare as well as ice cream and such, which was very nice. We were even able to buy D batteries from them for our sole air pump. The area around the lake was very beautiful as well with big lake houses and plenty of retirees taking their toys out for a ride, be it a shiny new trike or a 1930s pickup truck which addee some charm to the area. It just felt like everyone in the area was having a good time. We'll be going again, this time with some inflatable toys for the kids and marshmallows. See you there!
