This Park is included in the category of State park.
Beautiful falls and walking/hiking paths. Could use some updating on the trail blazes as it's easy to lose your way.
Awesome park with a lot of opportunities to take photos. The waterfalls are wonderful just make sure you bring your water shoes as the rocks are extremely slippery. There are hiking trails that are well marked and easily accessible even with dogs. Great outing experience.
I'm only giving it 4 stars because I wasn't able to explore all of it and a tunnel was absolutely covered in graffiti. Everything else that I saw was gorgeous. The waterfall was just of spectacular.
it's a beautiful place for a day hike or a just to see the waterfalls
Beautiful scenery, serene and a good hike for exercise.
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. Peaceful and clean. People are respectful to each other. So much to see, not enough time.
Beautiful ParkDay had a Picnic Not too Many People there
Short hike down to a beautiful waterfall.
Nice little rolling waterfalls. You park right next to it and it is about a 2 minute walk to the bottom. Very accessible for a waterfall
Great trails.
Nice little park with trails to walk. Chapman waterfalls is the best attraction.
Road work in the area was not fun.
Always stop at Chapman Falls when riding through on our motorcycles.
The trails are really cool! It's clean and perfect for a day trip with the family. Very nice park! Worth the drive to see the falls!!
Love the waterfalls
Decent little hike
A nice place to go for walks on warmer days, the winter can be rougher on the trails with the snow. Chapman Falls is a great spot to stop, and is a good place to take photos all year round, though the summer can be difficult with more people are around. Nearby the falls is a small wooden covered bridge over 8-mile River (creek). There are places to fish, nothing too big, and places to have picnics with grills on hand to use.
It's a nice place for a quick hike, but apparently there's work to be done near the waterfall and the bridge had some awkward patching going on. Overall, still a nice trail!
This was a hidden gem. The roads were closed and we were driving around for a while, almost gave up. THANK GOD we didn't, it's an amazing park, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
we thought it was fun and enjoyable at the falls until the a snapping turtle was swimming w us and kids alongside us. the water was clean but very smelly. rocks were very slippery cutting toes.
It's a beautiful place to go for a picnic or a romantic hike.
A lovely gem with a picturesque waterfall right next to the parking lot. Take a hike through the hemlock groves to vistas with great views of Connecticuts' rolling hills, or stay close to the rivers and enjoy some fly fishing. With any luck you may catch a trout!
I've been going there since the late 70's early 80's in high school and still love it today
Clearly marked trails. Good loop.
Such a beautiful place
A beautiful hike. The orange trail is a 2.2 mile loop. Moderately steep in a couple spots but my 4 year old handled it without issue. The Vista is well worth hike. The views are stunning.
Outstanding park views, Waterfall on-site, Grade-A, Number 1 spot, to visit, on a motorcycle!!!
Amazing network of trails. No particular look outnpoits in my experience but there is a really nice waterfall to checkout. I recommend starting in the picnic area for better trails. And going to the waterfall for a more relaxed hike with a view. With a pretty cool backstory that's kept up by park management.
Really worth visiting
The road was closed up so we couldn't drive the car up probably cause of all the recent flooding. We were still able to park in the lot and walk the trails. The main waterfall is close to the parking so u can get a good view without walking far. Very beautiful and majestic!
There is comstruction on the granite bridge over Chapman Falls. Fox Run Road has a detour but there is limited access to the campgounds. Water level is low, couldn't hear the waterfall.
Awesome park lots of great trails. Highly recommend for all skill levels of hikers.
Very beautiful but the directions aren't good .
Beautiful scenery nice place to picnic and hike
Very clean and well kept! Been going here since i was a kid, always love it.
Beautiful park.
It was very pretty ... The camping is very primitive. I saw no park ranger the whole weekend.
Beautiful place to get away. So many things to do there, you need a full day.
Very beautiful and majestic! Just a bit cold during winter but still fun to walk trails and take long exposure pics with my iPhone Xs. I will go back to this state park around spring time.
Great little park for mild to moderate hiking. Beautiful picnic areas adjacent to a babbling brook. Trails are everything from flat in many places to several sections of large rocks and tree roots
Beautiful view with nice waterfall.
My favorite place to trail run and hike. A great place to bring the family for some time out in nature.
I want to go back!! fun spot to take a quick hike through the woods.
Loved discovering this place
We ended up leaving because we couldn’t find the falls. Yes, there was a trail but it wasn’t as defined as it could have been. There were not any signs to reassure we were going in the right direction. Not about to get lost...
Beautiful hiking trails. Scenery simply beautiful. Easy hikes. Well worth visiting.
Peaceful...worth the visit!
I love this place. It's off the beaten path just enough that not too many people come out yet there are always friendly folk on the trails. It's great for families or if you just want to get an easy morning hike in solo.
Beautiful view and hike
Great out of the way small campground. Fun hiking nearby.
Gorgeous, beautiful, scenic, clean, plenty to do! Came here on my children's very last day of summer vacation and it's been a memory we've hung onto throughout these last couple of cold months. Spent the day hiking the trails, trails were clearly marked and easy to follow, some high points with some beautiful views! Following our hike we splashed around in the waterfall (which is something really special)! Had a picnic at one of numerous picnic tables, swam in the river and had an all around nice afternoon. Cannot wait to go back!
Lots of construction happening. Wonder when would it be completed.
My father and his father use to come out here a lot many years ago and I was always told how gorgeous it was. Wife and I took a road trip to see my grandfather and went here to check it out. We loved it ❤️
A get away like no other peaceful and lots of trails
Great park. Always a little different, depending on the season. Highly recommend it.
This was actually incredibly cool. Steps from the parking lot. You can swim or just take I'm the beauty.
Nice small trail and scenic waterfall
Would need to go in the spring when more water is running. They are also under construction right now
Heavy rain made for some great waterfalls.
Nice park, great water fall. Open the bathrooms please.
Great place for a short or long hike. Various trails and views. Dogs on a leash are okay and its suitable for kids.
Quiet state park for if you like primitive camping. No showers or flush toilets only contemporary outhouses. A pump well that was closed due to contamination. We knew that and took our own water. My only issue was one was out of toilet paper, but had our own anyhow. Sites are open and partly wooded and a bit "on top of each other". Never saw a ranger or manager there in our two night stay. Second night was a Sunday and we were the only other campers there. Almost no traffic on road so very peaceful and quiet other than the sounds of nature. We went the last weekend of the Summer. Falls were literally right around the corner which we checked out the last day. Water was low, but plenty of photos ops. Didnt hike any of the trails.
Beautiful waterfall is right near entrance! There are also nice hiking trails. It is a great place for picnic, too. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this park. The falls were gorgeous. Autumn is my best season to visit. I definitely recommend devil’s hopyard state park.
My family loves coming here! Great picnic area's and easy to challenging hiking trails are real fun, and by fun I mean exhausting at times. The waterfall is a beautiful feature as well, it's a nice place just to cool down and maybe catch some mist if you get close enough.
Love camping here no hook ups but the sites are fairly big
Beautiful relaxing park! The walk was pretty short and easy enough for kiddos to come along and enjoy themselves with some help.
This was my first time camping but I was impressed with this park. There is access to a waterfall and a stream. There is a outhouse which was decent but could've been a little more sanitary but hey, its camping right? The first night we left a bag with some food near the firepit and in the morning we realized that an animal got into it. We now realize how silly that was. My girl friends and i camped from friday evening to sunday morning. Saturday there was more traffic which we didn't mind as we had reserved two spot so we didn't feel infringed upon. I would've love if there was a shower and cell phone service but that was not the reason for the 4 star. There was ongoing construction on the bridge which made access to falls/stream a tad bit difficult. The falls was my absolute favorite part of my trip but we only went there once bc of how lengthy the detour was.
Amazing view of the waterfall
A Hikers paradise
Devil's Hopyard is a hidden gem! Best of all, it's free! Chapman Falls in Devil's Hopyard is usually flowing, except during droughts. The Falls are a favorite background for elopement or other wedding photos. There's a covered bridge too! Perfect for picnicking beside the stream under trees. Or you can rent the pavilion. Plan ahead; the Devil's Hopyard is popular during the summer.
This place has so many options! Swim, grill, fish etc
Nice walk and cool waterfall
Kids went hiking .. I stayed in car
Come for the waterfall, stay for the serenity.
Beautiful nature, hiking trails, lovely waterfall
Beautiful views and challenging trails. Pretty popular spot with a waterfall too.
Great park, wish I had more time to explore more of it! Snake skin, biggest frog I’ve ever seen, waterfall, and watch out for bear signs... what else could you need!
Beautiful falls and trails.
There were lots of bears and coyotes. Very aggressive animals. Would give 10 stars if I could!
So many great trails with views that are amazing. There is everything from picnic areas, and easy walks to some decent substantial hikes. We could spend a whole day here easily. The kids loved it, and there is so much for them to explore and enjoy. I can't believe I never came here sooner.
Nice greenery and water fall. Good place for fishing and BBQ. Parking is no problem there but most of you don't get your cellphone network
Nicest park I've been to in CT thus far. The waterfall area is a nice place to take a swim. The trails overall are nice... however some of the trails need some TLC. There also doesn't seem to be a readily available map of the trails, which made our trek difficult...and we got lost a few times. If the state put some TLC on the trails, I could easily give this place 5 stars. One bride was missing some planks, with other planks looking like they'd crack under my weight. Be sure to check out Scotty Custard afterwards...great custard/ice cream
Great hike
i love this little park. the best time is the fall. there are so many red leaves and people still go there to enjoy the fall but this time me and my son drove up here in august from east berne NY just to enjoy it for our self. this little park is so nice to cook out in.
Other than the name of this place it is absolutely gorgeous. I absolutely love the covered bridge and you can walk on the trails and find the most breathtaking views. Love getting pictures done here. Love exploring here. A must place to see. You can picnic which I have not,I've been busy seeing the sites. Love the water falls. Definitely won't be dissatisfied. Especially in the picture department
An awesome adventurous trail! Many options available for trail at the same place. We chose the orange trail and looking forward to enjoy the yellow trail as well! It's also a good picnic spot for families; sitting benches available for family picnic. So even if you are not interested in trecking you can have fun time with family and nature.
State park with easy drive up access to a nice sized waterfall and several easy hiking trails. It's a state park, so it's like all other state parks, some times crowded, some campers may be loud, most are nice. We brought a picnic lunch, saw the falls, played in the water and spent about 5 or 6 hours and feel like that was enough to see most of the place.
There's bridge construction right as one turns into the property and the road was technically closed to traffic. GPS locates one a few hundred feet up the street where there are no signs. I drove all over finally finding a camp site.I called DEP and she told me the falls were like right across the street. Trails not marked. Sure enough what I traveled an hour and forty minutes was worth the trip. I was able to photograph before the falls were covered with swimmers, rock climbing and people just relaxing in the water. With signage and a web site clearly stating no water activity or rock climbing people just do what they want and where. I was told via the phone that this park had no ranger and therefore no staff to police those who disregarded the law. Its only going to take one person to get hurt or worse before they close these areas off altogether. It's worth a look since one has to put in very little effort to see the cascades. Enjoy.
It was an awesome hike, got some much needed leg work
Great place to see a waterfall and get underneath it as seen by my photos
One main water fall. You can walk over the fall on the rocks if it isnt running to fast. Nice place to stop and relax a bit
A little too crowded for my tastes. Also, look out for Water Moccasins.
Small campground with reasonably sized lots- we actually reserved two, one for all of our cars and stuff, and the other for our tents (party of 8 people and four cars). Each site has a picnic table and a campfire pit with a steel grate for cooking over it. There are two composting toilets-I'd advising bringing your own roll of toilet paper if you wouldn't already. Plenty of places to rig hammocks and a gentle hike is nearby with a waterfall and a covered wooden bridge to check out along the way. There is no place to fill up on water or shower on the grounds, so come prepared for longer stays.
Beautiful hiking. I got engaged there many years ago, so it's special to me, but amazing views at the over look.
Cute little park. Waterfall is probably cooler after a good storm - was pretty weak today.
Hidden gem of a state park along the eight mile river. Lots of river bank access and the road along ty valley is curvey and scenic. Falls are wonderful as are the hiking trails.
Nice place to go to for hiking and a picnic and cookout. Nice place for photography.
Beautiful but guests do not keep it clean
Such a beautiful waterfall. And beautiful surrounding secenery. If you are an avid photographer, or and amatuer just beginning, this place is perfect to practice different techniques and perfect your photography.
Great! But stop cutting down all the trees+!
Beautiful state park.
Nice waterfall and hiking trails. A lot of the blazes are missing. Good thing we had alltrails to navigate.
Very well maintained park with plenty of hiking trails. The main attraction, Chapman Falls, is a great place to swim and cool off in the hot summer sun.
Beautiful spot with great roads around for 2 or 4 wheels. A favorite to get away for a bit.
This place is such a treat. CT residents - do we realize how lucky we are to have this beautiful playground in our backyard? If you haven't been, it's time! I am astounded every time I drive down that beautiful road with the river winding alongside. And then park and head for the waterfall. Kids climbing on the rocks and lounging in the water. Sitting on the rocks and feeling the spray I feel like I have discovered a piece of heaven. Perfect spot for picnics, fishing, hiking, lounging, resting. Great for the whole family no matter what age. Everyone always seems so happy when visiting Devil's Hopyard. I think the Angels have taken over this playground.
Place is a mess and run down to past years. Trails are well worn and treacherous in places. Bridges are missing boards. Lots of trees felled but blocking paths. Was a real disappointment to years past.
A small park with some good trails and a spectacular waterfall, especially this time of year. The trail map needs a little clarifying, but it's hard to get lost. They are improving somehow at the top of falls but you can still hike up from the parking lot (less than 15 minutes) and hey closer to the falls.
Lots of different trails to take and different types of difficulty levels.
absolutely love this place so many different places to explore will definitely be back again
Always the perfect place for a quick hike or walk. The falls are so pretty too, especially after a good rain.
Great place to hike and swim!
short easy trail. Nice for a quick hike, but very easy and short
My lady brought me up here for a nice short hike and loved it!
Beautiful and quiet today had a wonderful time
Nice greenery and water fall. Good place for BBQ and fishing. Parking is not a problem there but most of your cellphone will not work here. Old School Group 297 Littleton Rd #3, Chelmsford, MA 01824
Great park! Beautiful falls and great hiking trails. Looks like they took down some trees though.
Beautiful place just a pain to get into with the detours and construction, still my favorite place to picnic and hike!
