Beauty abounds. The first week in October in 2019 the Aspen were changing color!!!
Beautiful area drove through on the way to pagosa springs
Chimney Rock is a fun place to visit and offers a variety of learning experiences. Such as star gazing and Full moon hikes.
Beautiful! That is about all one can say. The geography of the mountains in this part of Colorado is mesmerizing. Getting a little crowded with side by sides and quite dusty, but I'll deal with it for the scenery.
So fun and the buildings were cool.
Such a beautiful forest. The mountains here are just spectacular. I would love to live in the San Juan mountain range.
Just being in nature is perfect!
This park is beautiful. Not as crowded are other places in Colorado which makes it even better. Big fan
Incredibly lush green fir, spruce and Aspen plus Meadows of grass, fast flowing streams, waterfalls.
What an absolutely beautiful place to go This time of year the trees are turning absolutely beautiful
Best place in the world in my personal opinion. Love the out doors and nature and this place just feels like home
Wide open areas and fresh air. Camp ready areas
It was awesome. It's so green and pretty. Water everywhere. The flowers are just blooming everywhere. So glad we had a real winter for a change. Loved seeing the cows out grazing. Just makes you smile. Also liked seeing people out camping and enjoying the outdoors!!
Loved tge campsite there and the star gazing free programs at night
This is my favorite place to be! Camping, hiking, trail riding, snowmobiling etc.!!! I love living here♡
Treasure falls. Nice stop. Good trails if it's not raining.
Great place to hike ,absolute splendor.
Great vistas, Fall is amazing.
I love Colorado. Anywhere in the mountains has gorgeous views. Driving down to Pagosa springs is a lovely drive.
Incredible time in this area. So much to explore. Check out our videos on YouTube.
Really beautiful landscape and natural formations. Speed limits go up and down throughout the journey through this forest, so drivers should pay close attention to their speed and road conditions
Had fun and caught fish overall a really good time
It was great fisshing and wild Ness
Who doesn't love a National Foreat? This is truly one of the most beautiful parts of America.
The astounding beauty takes your breath away. Great for all mamals--humand and canines alike! Plan to take lots of water and snacks because you will not want to leave right away (or EVER)!!
Rocky Mountains at their finest.
Awesome experience everywhere we went.
Beautiful scenery, hiking, and weather.
Very beautiful forest in southern Colorado. Miles and miles of scenery, waterfalls, and trails.
Beautiful scenery, some of the best in the country. Lots of wildlife and flowers to look at. Plus views of Vallecito and across all the surounding mountains. It would be very peaceful if there weren't 1000 cars driving up and down the dirt road.
The views are outstanding if you go to ouray you can get a guided tour up the mountain. At 12,500 feet the air is thin and you definitely want to have sun screen on because you will burn fast.
Spud Lake is a fairly easy hike and it is so beautiful!!

Majestic mountains, crystal-clear streams, banks of trees, and lots of well-maintained paths from which to enjoy it all. Check it.
Hwy 550 near Silverton Colorado, beautiful scenic drive year round.
Stayed off country road 193 off highway 160. Did some free dispersed camping with my wife, daughter, cat and 4 kittens. Beautiful area, refreshing, relaxing and serene. Love the free national forest camping.
I drove the national park on us550. Beautiful landscape but hated the drive with a 57ft trailer. Gotta watch your trailer at all times. Enjoy!
Awesome scenery!! Love the dirt road, and all the wildlife!
Beautiful pristine place, would love to visit again! Hardly reception in a place like this, but definitely would come back, just plan accordingly.
One of the coolest places on the planet.
I would come back again for sure. Such a beautiful area! We drove up to Silverton on the Million Dollar Highway and it's name is apt... It is gorgeous!!!! But it has no guardrails so be extra safe while driving it! We stayed at the Florida Campground at a group campsite and we all loved the spot! We also saw a mountain lion and the dogswere able to roam free. Such a great camping trip!
The drive is always pleasant.
Well managed, and good access.
The picture looks prettier.
Camping here in the summer is great. A true national treasure. It would be even nicer with more trash receptacles. That is Washington's fault , of course. Budget cuts. The abundance of campsites was refreshing as well.
Some of the most magnificent land on Earth hopefully saved for perpetuity.
Camped in the miners cabin campground, great location, but for whatever reason the park rangers didnt open the bathroom for the campers
Fantastic place in the summer. There are lots of hikes, camping, and activities in the area.
Exceptionally beautiful. If you like Jeep trails, check out the area around Ouray.
The reason I live. Here, unspoiled raw beauty God's
Miss it already can't wait to go back
Enjoyed the train ride up, beautiful scenery, the mountains are so majestic! The town of Silverton is very tourist friendly . Relaxing ride on the bus back to Durango. Had a wonderful day, can't wait to come back.
Great time everything was so green wildflowers everywhere
Quartz lake tail is an awesome hiking trail in San Juan National Forest.
Very well preserved ancient ruins. The little museum is nice and the film informative. The ruin tour is on a smooth paved path and probably about a 1/2 mile or less long.
Great peaceful camping near Mesa Verde National Park and Durango.
Just awe inspiring! Very beautiful!
Beautiful Forest, were on deer trails and saw deer. Elk and bear are plentiful as well I was told by locals.
This Forest is so beautiful, would go back for sure!
Beautiful country, trees, the river next to the campgrounds, and all the hiking a person can desire.
Best place to become one with nature. Love it here
Beautiful. Roads are well maintained. Great camping spots. Lots of wildlife.
Cool smells clean .water streams deer birds wild flowers.very tranquil place to visit
Camped at Burro Bridge Campground. Site #11 is the best. Have to go home--wish I could stay another week. A must-do is to hike up trail #649 to the meadow which will knock your socks off.
Soooo beautiful! Colors of the trees on the mountains were amazing!! We were there end of May.
One of the most beautiful Accessible areas of the Great Country. From Ouray up US 550 to Silverton, is one of the most SPECTACULAR Roads into the San Juans.
Absolutely beautiful part of the world. If you have never been here do yourself a favor and spend some time driving through the mountains. If you have a 4x4 its even better!
Beautiful n peaceful. Serenity all around!
Beautiful area, like a little Yosemite. Drive up Missionary Ridge for some cool views.
If you want to witness some amazing scenery created by God, this is a great place to go. Our family loves this area!!
It's a beautiful area. Very peaceful.
Great forest with lots to see and do.
It was beautiful and not crowded.
Beautiful. We were able to ride horses through the park.
Beautiful and amazing place to be. Either just a quick drive through, setting up a camp spot, or hiking a trail you can't go wrong here.
Love South West Colorado.
The campsites are spread apart and there's plenty of vegetation. There is flushing toilets and running cold water. No showers or hot water. There are fire rings on concrete not pits. The hosts are friendly and the mosquitoes not to bad. I even saw a jackrabbit! It's within an hours drive of Mesa Verde and Hovenweep parks.
Love it. Great area. Lots of things to do. Hiking camping fishing. Respect the forest and keep clean for everyone
Beautiful scenery, alot of hiking trails, rivers and Creeks.
Nice trail, little harder than I remembered.
We took a Jeep tour. The scenery was breathtaking and more varied than you would expect. And our guide was very knowledgeable, even knowing the names of all the beautiful wildflowers!! He also knows about the geological creation of the whole area through which you drive and of the quite diverse plants & trees. Count yourself lucky if your driver is called Ren. He works for Colorado Outback Adventures.
Americas best kept secret! Absolutely amazing!
Trails are maintained. Had fun running and biking. Also did some atv riding, which was a blast.
Awesome place
San Juan is awesome. Live a few miles from it. Come and visit it.
Neat vistas. Excellent drive!
Some of the most beautiful places in Colorado can be found here.
Summer in the San Juan mountains never disappoints! Be sure to acclimate before going up to Ophir pass or Imogene, they're more than 10,000 feet above sea level.
Awesome forest. Pleasantly few off road vehicles zooming about. I love it!!
What could be bad about the national Forest? Went up a goat trail past 3 old gold and silver mines near Helmet Peak in my stock Z71 Colorado. What a beast. What a trail. What a view. A little scary. Tight switchbacks Gets tighter and scarier the higher you go
I love this place cant get enough of it.
Fantastic drive from Ouray to Silverton... Especially when colors are changing. Stunning views. Highly recommend
Great camping, cleanses the soul. Too much beauty to describe
One of the most beautiful places on Earth, so don't go there!
Beautiful sights!!! Nice sceneries too!
So beautiful! We live in AZ and so this area is So Green (for us desert dwellers).! Just wish it wasn't such a long drive from Phoenix. The Animas river is so impressive!
This is a very beautiful place to visit while on vacation. Love it here.
It was a free campground i read about, and it was perfect! A little rocky of a road but nothing you cant handle if you go slow and are careful. Spaces were more than adequate for our class C, and they were pretty nicely spread apart too! So it felt private :) gorgeous scenery and trees all around, with occasional deer and bear
We spent all summer in colorado.it has been great
Great forest if you're looking for trees and fresh air.
Great camping locations. Lots of four wheelers though who also love this place.
A beautiful place.
Chimney Rock National Monument was an interesting place to see for a couple of hours. We saw the ruins from the ancient Puebloans. We took a guided tour up to the top of the mountain.
Love it!! Its georgeous
Beautiful, Quiet, no bears (at least while I was there) and Huge scenery of stars at night
Nice trees!
Gorgeous! You need a full day to soak it in.
The Silverton Durango train goes through these woods.
Very Scenic Don't pass up the views here
Beautiful for hiking, skiing, fishing, camping, bird watching, anything!
Great wilderness area for recreation, trail riding, camping. Spectacular views. Wolf Creek ski area is awesome, always has great snow for skiing. This is a wonderful place to camp or a day ride. You won't be shortchanged by this national Forest, main thing is watch the weather and like any other national Forest, be prepared for anything.
Will be coming back here! Visited the Barbar's in the Springs
The most beautiful forest I ever visited!!
Magnificent! God paints beautiful pictures that photos just can't quite capture!
Who wouldn't give it 5 stars?
Amazing view recommend visiting it sometime.
Amazing, rugged beautiful mountains, go rafting with Mild to Wild and experience incredible whitewater and the train ride through this tough terrain.
It's a beautiful place that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime..
Some spectacular views and some nice hiking.
Beautiful place everyone should see
Beatles killed it pretty bad but I'm in this for the long haul. Also wolf Creek Ski Area Rocks! Most snow in Colorado! I love you, Mountains of The San Jaun! See you sooner then later.
Rough entrance road the last several miles. But worth the time.
Hermosa creek area extremely crowded. I love the area. Just way over crowded.
Great Jeep area! Absolutly gorgeous. Pictures cannot do this area justice. Must see!
Great river and great fishing habitats
Tour guide and staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the history.
Colorado is just the most gorgeous place on this planet
Chimney Rock is a fascinating place. The Forest Service and it's many volunteers are trying their best at what is not their forte.
It's hard to find spot sometimes but it's beautiful when you get you stuff set up
The jeep trails all had snow yet but hopefully in a couple of weeks we'll be able to get all the way to the top!! If you've never been on the jeep trails, rent a jeep if you don't have one! The scenery is breathtaking!!
Beautiful forest with lots of wildlife to see.
Just amazing breathtaking mountain top.
Nice ride but too many stops on the way.
Beautiful just beautiful. I plan to go again.
So much to explore! GREAT fishing at Lemon Reservoir! Saw a bunch of wild turkeys and watched a coyote try going after some geese. The geese won in case anyone is worried... We went during the week so there were only a few people besides us utilizing the day use area. Headed back up there next weekend!
My favorite place....in the forest, hiking, horseback riding, snowshoeing, country skiing...love it!
Good old fashion way to spend a day.
Around every corner is a more beautiful scene than the one you just left.....I think it's much prettier than Rocky Mountain National Park....and is lesser known....well worth the trip to see......
As a Kentuckian, let me say this is probably this nation's most beautiful forest.
Most beautiful part of Colorado with plenty of remote trails for great backpacking opportunities. Lots of day hiking trails as well but this is a backpackers paradise.
I have experienced lots of details at this place. I will attempt to share them with you. One of the details I can share is trees. Another detail that I can share is mountains. Other details include water, Rock, furry creatures, sky, snow and sounds.
Our Nat Forests are the best thing on earth, protect them!
One of the most beautiful places on earth. Was there for the Telluride Jazz Festival
First time riding the 149 south thru the San Juan forest - a fantastic ride for Harley travelers out there!
Beautiful views, nice dispersed sites, and road in good condition. Many large 5th wheels and trailers made it in.
Beautiful hiking trails. Beautiful scenery. What's not to like?
The place to be when you're searching for some crisp mountain air, fresh sights and sounds, as well as no crowds or line's of people on the trails.
Pretty nice. Lots of people lots of trees. We went on labor day weekend I may have had something to do with it.
Beautiful places. A picture around every curve.
Great views and some awesome history in this place.
The place to be forest staff was excellent beautiful in all ways
Peaceful and serene Gorgeous views and excellent camping.
Beautiful forest land. I didn't get out to do any hiking here, but it looks like it would be a great place to go hiking.
Beautiful Mountain Ranges! Alpine villages.
The Target Tree camp ground is awesome.
Amazing/delicious/friendly/yum! Breakfast, lunch, treats
Absolutely beautiful views all around. The sounds of creeks and rivers flowing is something that I love.
