Love this place.
Beautiful. For. Spacious. Skies.
Nice spot for a picnic.
Beautiful views & scenery
Quiet, beautiful place to kick back or join lake festivities without breaking the bank..
Beautiful. Stunning. Breathtaking.
Ranger talk was informative and the planet gazing was amazing!
It is a great campground definitely would recommend.
Enough room for lots of boaters to do their own thing. The elk ramp does get crowded so parking a boat trailer there in order to use the fish cleaning station can be impossible.
Great hike into the gorge, great boat ride, the staff very informative about the history of the canyon. My wife and I would do this again.
Love this place ❤️
Just drove through. Didn't use any facilities but loved the scenery.
Just driving through unfortunately. I'll make plans in the future for a longer visit. There looks like a lot of fun to be had with any type of water toys. The drive was incredibly beautiful. The lake is sadly very low.
Great place to relax on lake. Fishing should be done very early am. Wind seems to get bad in afternoon then calms down around 4 to 5pm
We come here once or twice a year. Love it!
Amazing and jones are not in jail!
Great place for fishing, camping, hiking and exploring.
Best area to camp. Loved our spot.
Very pretty area, much less crowded than national parks a short drive from the area. Tons of hiking and water sport options, camping, and interesting features. The total package and a great option for a long weekend getaway.
One of our favorite places, beautiful day, beautiful country.
This year the water is up almost to full! Great camping and water activities only scratch the surface of fun you can experience here!
Beautiful scenery. A lovely drive.
Nice place, consider a visit if you are in colorado.
Drove through, Beautiful!
Winter or Summer- Put it on your bucket list.
Hwy 92. Was a find for my motorcycle trip. Wasn't on my list but looked like a good road to try when I stopped to check out the dam. Glad I did. Very scenic and curvy. Very little traffic which is ALWAYS a plus. A must ride road if in the area.
One of the prettiest places in Colorado
Mother Nature at her best
Gorgeous Views of High Mountain Desert Reseviors, and Canyon Fishing at Its Finest!
Unfortunately it was too windy to fish at Blue Mesa reservoir the day we visited. In fairness, it deserves another shot. If you have the time, take the road over to Crawford. There are some incredible views! I recommend that you stop at Pioneer Point.
What a great lake
Absolutely beautiful with cheap pontoon rentals ($50)
Great lake for boating
Definitely a place to visit
Went fishing with a local guide and had a great time. Nice and clean and not overly busy. Water level is 50 feet below normal.
Also check out next to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison
Lake was beautiful. They are just getting thing ready for summer, needs some weeds pulled and boat trailer parking cleaned , most likely will change and improve
Very nice recreational area! Great fishing, hiking, camping, and absolutely wonderful sunsets!
We simply drive through on our way home from Arkansas to Utah. The drive was unbelievably gorgeous and so worth the route we took!
GLORIOUS, BEAUTIFUL PRESENTATION OF HIS MASTERY
Great area to explore. It gets hot in the sun and cool in the shade on the trails. Layer accordingly and bring water.
Love taking the boat out on lake Gunnison
Beautiful area National park, currently in a historic drought. Friendly, helpful local residents, some services near by, otherwise next town is 15 miles away.
Great place for kayaking, fishing, boating, though I seldom camp there it has a nice setup for it.
Love to go to Blue Mess fishing. Great service and camp grounds are clean
So peaceful it's easy to forget how blessed we are to be living so close to nature. The trail to the lake was about 1 hour down and 45 minutes back up to the parking lot.
Absolutely stunning, beautiful pristine natural environment
Love it here love the Easter and fishing is awesome
We drove through the park, right along side the Blue Mesa. What a lovely view and ride for the motorcycles.
Beautiful views! Wonderful atmosphere. How could you not feel the peace and at one with nature?
A very beautiful and special place. The reservoir may be full or near empty but since I'm not a boater or fisher person that doesn't matter and it's picturesque either way. Lots of hiking, off-roading and mountain biking in the surrounding hills which are beautiful and geologically interesting, Gunnison and Crested Buttes are close and very much worth a visit. It's a mecca for mountain bikers: Hartman Rock near Gunnison and Crested Buttes both have networks of trails for all skill levels. There's camping, RV Resorts and motels in the the surrounding area but on holiday weekends it's best to have a reservation.
By far our dogs' favorite place
We got rain, it smelled so clean. The deer are in good shape for a dry summer. Another beautiful day.
Very cool place but it was crowded, lots of mosquitoes, no cell service and everything got soaking wet around 5am and stayed that way until we left around 11. I actually had to towel dry my whole tent. Would recommend for rv use mainly. Does have a toilet.
Great place if you like the raw outdoors. Pulled over my kayak to relieve myself amongst the bones of some prey. Bring bear spray...
Incredible trail. Took 4 kids and although it was tough on the way back up, we made it work! Come prepared with lots of water, smacks/food and definitely recommend walking sticks and good hiking boots. The end of the trail was flooded but we still got to see a lot of amazingness. It ended up being 4 miles to the end and back, and it took us 3 hours with taking lots of stops for rest, hydration and photos. Highly recommend!
We stayed in one of the Primitive camp sites next to the water and it was great! The camp hosts were really nice, we talked several times about different things. Spent one day kayaking and fishing. Drove down to one of the dams and realized the water is 100+ feet in a lot of areas of the lakes. Can't wait to go back again!
Don't come you'll hate it! Too much beauty, too much fun!
My daughter and I stopped several times driving through for pictures. The views were awesome
A small camp site and boat launch with an incredible view. It's not as heavily trafficked and it is dog friendly.
Everyone to visit once in their life
Blue Mesa Reservoir... Beautiful reservoir area and sorrounds. Great for water sports. many options camping site... We love KOA.
Awesome place. What beautiful areas!!
Beautiful area when we were there the lake was iced over and saw elk on the ridge.
So many possibilities! Amazing views, hikes, fishing, camping, ECT, ECT, ECT!
such a beautiful place to visit
Beautiful, fun, lots of adventure
The boat rental was really reasonable and we got a kyak to get to the shore it was a sunburn blast
Love this place! Colorado's beach!!
Great place to fish or just hang out and have a picnic. The water was pretty low last summer, but the fish were still biting
Fishing is always good. Catching was fair today.
The Blue Mesa Reservoir is just Beautiful!! This park and man made lake is huge and has many things to do like fishing, swimming, wind boarding, hiking, and camping!
Huge, incredibly beautiful Lake in a high desert setting. The surrounding volcanic features make for a photographer's dream!
Big and very nice
Beautiful! Great area to find a spot to cool off by the water.
Huge lake! Didnt catch any fish .
Beautiful area to drive through! We really enjoyed passing through and enjoying the scenery!
Hidden Gem of Colorado. Almost afraid to tell anyone. ☺
Not crowded, awesome scenery, well maintained trails, good fishing
Many trails and overlooks with great views. Interesting geology. Nice wildflowers. Boating, rafting.
Love this whole area of Colorado. Awesome landscapes, water sports, hiking, fishing, hiking, camping, and more. Great place for kayaks. Waterskiing in the morning is like a dream, with the water often being smooth as glass. Lots of dirt roads for exploring surrounding lands.
Fantastic views of the lake, hear fishing good to but requires a boat.
Stayed at Elk Creek campground from Sunday before Labor Day until Friday. Once the Labor Day crowd headed home. We had no neighbors for 5 days.
Love this place....great place for family outing....
The best place in our beloved Colorado to go for a glorious camping experience. Our hands-down favourite. The only thing missing was a hiking badge for Curecanti in the visitor's center. I look forward to coming back agajn.
Curecanti is a national recreation area around three reservoirs on the upper Gunnison River. There are a number of spots for boating and fishing on the lakes as well as campgrounds, picnic areas and hiking trails. We were passing through the area and stopped for a break to hike at Dillon Pinnacles. A 2 mile trail leads to spectacular views of the strangely eroded volcanic pinnacles. It was a really beautiful hike and great way to break up the drive. Would like to explore the area more if we're ever in the area again.
Beautiful! Fresh mountain air, views for days!
Unbelievable beautiful hiking
Long lake with lots of public access.
Beautiful National Park. I highly recommend visiting!
Very uninviting and no Services what so ever... Luckily I was able to go up the Hill to the point where they had some supplies and cash machine ... Next time I'm camping at The Point.
Absolutely beautiful area ro visit fish camping
Beautiful...a little to cold this time of year.
A great place to explore nature where cell phones don't work.
It's a beautiful place to fish
Was really nice! Lakes were great!
Amazing boat tour by the NPS!
Drive through. Beautiful area. Cannot comment on amenities.
A good spot to camp, but many of the campgrounds were closed or by reservation only. Leaving you to be forced to pay for RV parks. The best and most beautiful spot was for big groups only - which is kinda unfair to people who only get to drive through this area the one time they are here. Wish I could have been in more natural areas, but still a pretty place.
Great place for family fun!
Beautiful area! It's a must see when passing thru the area. Great hiking trails. The river does flood the trail at times. But the trail follows the river and it amazing!!
Really great! Took ride to Lake City and saw some beautiful country, deer and elk.
Nice trail and picnic area with bathrooms.
Beautiful park and really really big. Be sure to plan out where you want to stay before going, or else you could be driving around for a while!
Its very nice!
Very nice stop, learned about what was there before, interesting!!
Blue Mesa is a decent day trip. I have yet to camp there but where I've explored there isn't much shade. It's massive though so there has to be some good camping spots.
Breath taking beauty.
Kids had fun playing in the water
Go you will like it
A great drive!! Drove through this beautiful area. This is Colorado's largest body of water. There are three reservoirs throughout. The Lake and reservoir is large. Crystal clear blue water. stunning, panoramic views, lovely scenic drive with No entrance fee. There are a number of spots for boating and fishing on the lakes as well as campgrounds, picnic areas and hiking trails. There are restroom spots too. If you have time, stop and enjoy the scenery & beautiful views.
One of my favorite places in Colorado.
Beautiful sight.
So Beautiful just to visit.
We fished Blue Mesa Reservoir, caught 3 lake trout. Nothing else was biting right now. Trout must be spawning???? We've enjoyed fishing here for 40 years now!
A lot of biting bugs at twilight, but worth it!
Blue Mesa is filling again! I don't think it will totally fill this year, but another good winter would do it!!
BEAUTIFUL!! Wonderful views and great photo opportunities!!
Beautiful Spot to Stop
Great lake great fish, etc.. the only downside is the wind it could be a nice sunny day and the wind would ruin it spent 200 some odd dollars to boat that day and had to return to the dock due to the wind..
Nice trail. I think it will be underwater soon.
The lake is full this year. Campgrounds are also full.
Stunning geological formations, cool, calm water, great for paddleboarding, water skiing and swimming.
Totally Awesome. Pure Colorado.
This is an amazing and huge Recreational Area. Beautiful hikes, amazing waterside camping available. We hiked the Curecanti trail that takes you down to the bottom (water level). 900 feet down over the course of 2 miles. One extremely steep area lets you know that you are almost there, and greets you quickly as you start the way back up. It is amazing and beautiful at the bottom (and there are even a couple of campsites on the way!) Once you see the Balck Canyon of the Gunnison, you will (or at least I did) realize that this is the quintessential hike for the area. What a fantastic part of God's Creation!
Beautiful, lots to see and do there. Water looks great and boat traffic wasn't very heavy. I would like to back there again and spend more time there.
Great camping site. Good views of the water from most camping spot. The fact it's close to the highway is a blessing and a curse. It's a quick detour off the highway to your camping spot however at night the noise of the passing trucks can get obnoxious at times so you never feel as your away from civilization. There are a lot of great bodies of water with plenty of shore line to fish from however during my time there there wasn't much action. A few minutes away is a town where you can restock and supplies your depleted. Over all a great time and a site I'd enjoy returning to.
Can't wait to go back, Lot's of fun
Great place to stop on Highway 50 in Colorado and take in some breathtaking views.
Straight up amazing place!
So cool to be out there with the water levels down! Beautiful and peaceful. I really wish you could camp on the beach like you can in Alaska, California and Washington. It is truly a remarkable place that could be so much better with bonfires and camping. It would be magical!
Despite very little shade in the camping areas, this place is amazing. No complaints. :-)
We went kayaking for fathers day. Very fun place to hang out.
Very scenic great place
So much to do here! A sweet breath of fresh air as well! Great for groups!
Secluded area with well maintained camp grounds. Park rangers were friendly and informative. Great place if you're in to hiking or fishing.
Expansive reservoir- great to take a pontoon out for the day
It's a perfect place!!
