Super full everytime we go the lots fill up fast but its still definitely a good place to take kids if your there early. They have a swim beach and also other areas around the entire lake you can fish and picnic

Christian Slocomb

It was a good time with the same time with you guys

Ron Collins

The campground area is very well kept as well as the shower/ restroom building. The current construction is a bit problematic but will be great when it's done. The bike path and new marina are beautiful.

Tammy Hamill

Very hard to find a place along the lake with all of the construction!! We booked our camping spot 6 months out, it would have been nice if they would have sent us an email telling us about all the construction and limited places that we could go. Instead, we found out when we got there.

Michelle Fairbairn

This area holds special meaning for me. Fishing, hiking, childhood make believe adventures, swimming, tubing, and bike rides all my summer years growing up. A lot more people know about it now. I just want to ask you all to keep this place special. Respect the land and everyone that uses it. Special places in our lives are only special if we care for them so that they may last. So Cheers, happy trails, and good fishing:)

Martin Lascelles

Not worth paying 9 bucks to enter unless you need to go boating. For hikes and dog park there are much better places that don't charge.

Mark Baker

They have improved some of the road's it's a real nice place to go

Benjamin Creel

Great lake for boating. Nice boat launch ramps. Two wakeless zones and clean water make for good swims and once the renovation is done, this park will be epic

Robert Reece

We love going to Chatfield for a variety of reasons. The campgrounds are great and fully reservable up to the day. The dog park is also nice, along with all of the trails to explore. The reservoir is good when not to crowded. Fishing is usually fun with random results. Lastly, there are picnic shelters and day use areas that make a nice way to spend a few hours. In summary, a little something nice for anything you may be looking for.

Rebecca McFarland

I just love this park! Its such a nice place to take the pupper to stretch his legs and be social. There are so many other nice owners and puppers running around. Its an enjoyable experience for both of us when we visit. It is a fee to enter the park 9 dollars for my entrance and 3 for the dog. Be sure to map the drive out first, it was longer than expected to get back to the dog park.

Melissa Beauvais

We loved camping at Chatfield! The campground is well cared for and close to walking paths and a nice playground. It would be especially nice if you have a boat or other watercraft. The view is beautiful!

Raymond Greene

Gold is been my reason and have it right where I know it's at. It is out there and more then anyone would believe too loving it each drive there I am getting more ad more pleased when I leave there seek and you will find Gold

Meg Evans

Nice park. Betting the lake would be great during swim season. Woke up to bright stars, and elk bugle and coyotes. Nice place for kids.

Siegfried Manke

Just fine for my bicycle ride , new road surface and many area updates, I e enjoyed the ride

Cody Rosado

Beautiful park. Looked like they were fixing up paths .

Anna MacBriar

Large reservoir with beautiful views and a nice sandy beach. We enjoy renting sailboats there from Colorado Water Sports.

Lisa Ford

This reservoir is tucked up against some of the most beautiful rock formations and trails in Colorado. Excellent swimbeach, boating. And cycling. Calling all outdoorsmen. You will be so glad you took the time.

Dave Carlson

I love the new changes at Chatfield. We enjoyed swimming at the gravel pond and then having a picnic dinner at the swim beach. Great way to spend a summer evening.

Anthony Williams

Clean and easy to access park. The beach area is a bit rocky, I suggest water shoes to help get over the rough beach area. The no wake zone is awesome and they have a roped off swimming area great for kids.

Kevi Senske

Way downhill. Improvents are not working. Staff is not knowledgeable. Too many new hires. No one knows anything.

John Sieb

The work to rebuild the park is nearly complete and all the facilities are now open with most everything new and updated.

Michael Holmes

This place is awesome!! I've been going here since I was a little kid!! Group camping was great!! So many activities to do around here. They have model airplane landing strip they have volleyball and swimming beach too.. lots of construction going on around there seems like they're going to raise the water about 20 feet. Holiday weekend the water was really busy and somewhat difficult to get around. Watch out for the boneheads that don't know how to drive a boat but if you go during the week you don't have to worry about any of that. I will return in due time it's always a good get away weekend spot.

Sarah Kelsey

FYI dog owners: the main swimming beach doesn't allow dogs. The good news is that other places along the reservoir do, but they may be muddy. The reservoir is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, and SUP because a large portion is a no wake zone. Don't worry motorized boat owners - there's also a large part that allows wake. It's a great place to spend the day on the water - pretty views and not that far from the city.

Campbell Hawk

Stayed in the group camping site. Great open space, clean bathrooms, and a ton of picnic tables per site. Lake was nice and fire pits were really good. My biggest complaints were that there was no shade available anywhere and there's a model plane field next to the sites. Each morning at 7am there are loud model planes flying around, it's pretty obnoxious.

Rachel Wright

This place is great if your dogs like to swim!

Clark S

The Corps of Engineers is doing some construction which is currently impacting what you can do there. But we had a great time. And it is close to the Chatfiekd Botanic Gardens which is an amazing place to visit.

Amanda Lien

Very impressed with the update that the park did. Worth the drive now. Great area and plenty of updated areas to picnic. Wish I lived a little closer

Paul Harris

beautiful park ,huge off leash dog area. very nice!!

Theresa Glassburn

Beautiful, clean lake with amazing sunsets! We love that there are campsites with full hook ups.

Vlad Savenko

It is wonderful camp ground with all the amenities! with amazing views of the mountains!

Jordan Smith

It's a decent beach. Super crowded though. We had to wait in line 35 minutes to get in. The bbq are like 100 meters from where you set up canopies near the beach which makes no sense. But, the kids are having a lot of fun so there's that.

Sommer Shearer

It’s under a bit of construction now, but the park is beautiful. It’s close to Denver so there isn’t a need to drive hours away. The off leash dog park is the best part. It’s super clean and dogs can run and swim to their hearts desire.

Storm Dushane

Went camping and boating here for the 4th of July weekend. We had a blast! The day passes are very reasonable, the park is clean, rangers are super friendly and helpful. I was really scared of it being over crowded or trashed but I was very pleasantly surprised. I look forward to our next trip!

Karen Jansen

Great time fishing and hanging with the family. Dog had a blast in the dog park.

Michael Winegar

Went to the beach and loved it. They made it bigger and the bathroom's are much nicer than they were. There is a lot more parking also. We will absolutely be going again.

Daisy Zebarth

Doing some construction right now so park isnt as great as it normally is. Gravel ponds get very busy on weekends. Need to get there early to get a decent parking spot

nguyephu24

Great place to be with family and friends. You can ride your boat/jetskis, fish, swim, hike, camp, bike, build sand castles, and barbeque. Busy during summer weekends and not sure how it is during the winter.

Ben Tiner

Great place for families. Designated areas for swimming and floating. There are bathrooms by the parking lot. Also areas to launch boats and other watercraft. Make sure you bring a life jacket for anyone on the water. rangers check

Roger Guinn

Uncrowded on a beautiful weekday in early October. Only issue was that the fish were uncoopetative...

Gato Gruñon

We have always loved Chatfield. They are making it even better now. They are adding a TON of parking and grilling areas making it easier to find a good spot. Construction is still not complete but it is not hectic. They are doing a fantastic job.

sue leissner

We always stay at Chatfield when we come to Denver to visit grandkids. Best State Park in Colorado!

Richard Ellis

Good sized lake with good fishing. Biggest drawback is that it does get fairly windy

Katherine Thompson

So I Know this really has Nothing to do with something the park could possibly control but when I went there was hardly any water.... The walk also to the actual swim beach is rather long and is extremely hard for me to get to being disabled... I'm supposed to be wheelchair bound and every time I come it's really a challenge to get to the water.... I do have to say I'm impressed with the restroom and the new parking lots are great... I see the staff working harder as well and that's a blessing too

McKenzie Clarke

Great place to bring the family at the swim beaches, or use the gravel ponds to putts around in a non-motorized ride. Here about every week for work!

Matt McKee

I love that there is a nice park so close, but it is always over crowded and one of the worst lakes to boat on due to traffic and it's small size. My boat also seems to be covered in some type of dark suit after being in Chatfield so I am guessing that there is some pollution of some kind. The camp grounds are nice and are well kept. There are also a few spots for day use. They are renovating the park so there may be some good changes coming.

Ken Colorado

The construction makes it a little bit awkward but they did a great job of making it obviously organized so it doesn't feel like a construction zone. It feels like a pretty place getting an improvement. Fabulously outdoors yet tamed. A+ even with the construction.

J Claire Carmelia

Caught trout and walleye here. Best lunch all summer! Great spot to bring a camping chair, picnic, amd hangout while fishing at the park. Likely the closest place to Denver for an edible catch.

Larry Ettles

Most upgrading construction is finished. Roads are nice and well kept. Good spacing of campsites.

Tucker Pinder

We did a week long camping trip in tents and we loved it! Probably the cleanest site I've been to, lots of fun things to do. In and around the site. Hope to come back on another family vacation soon.

B Adams

RC/Drone flying area and runway, boating, and more, but the best part for me, is the covered picnic tables with a view of the land. Peace from the hustle and bustle of the nearby C470 and far enough from work that I can get a breather and relax during a lunch break.

Dina W. Ismail

A great place! The dog pond area is my favorite, and I don’t even own a dog.

Phrog Heather

Not my favorite state park, it is close to town. City views, looks pretty flat. There is water for scenic walking and biking! They have camping, did not drive around that far. Also, dog park. Sand beach was closed, looks cool and they have boat rentals. Entry fee.

Deb Carr

We love it here. Beautiful views and we'll kept!

Victor B.

Great for a day of boating but it gets pretty busy on the weekends. Nicely recently reconstructed beech and picnic areas.

Liz V

We love going to this lake it's beautiful clean and big if you go early you can find really good camping places.

Glenn Train

Presently Chatfield State Park is under a great deal of construction. The west gate will not get you to the campground because the bridge is currently not usable. The east gate has a new neighborhood starting and there is still a huge bump across the road. Be careful as you approach the gate. The marina is also being worked on. The campground is open and for the most part functional.

Robert Foltz

I feel like I have a love hate relationship with this Local Colorado State Park. Being so close to Denver- it’s almost always fully crowded during the summer. If you’re a boater like me, the long lines, busy dock, and the limited area for cruising (most of the lake is wake free), it makes for a rough outing on any weekend. The weekdays and evenings are usually much more reasonable during the summer. As far as the fishing- it seems to be ok if you aren’t battling rowdy ski boats and oversized yachts that don’t really belong there. You’ll mostly catch trout, smallmouth bass, and more rarely - a few smaller walleye. Apparently there’s some larger ones but I’ve yet to catch anything surpassing the 18” limit. It will also ice over and I’ve had some success here and there in the winter as well. Overall- nice smaller lake, but will continue to get even more crowded with Sterling Ranch being developed. Definitely a shame!

Morgan Sperry

My dogs love this place! It's so nice have a lake where your dog can be off leash.

Anne Price

I visit year-round, they're reallocating water and channels right now and have been undergoing major construction. An under-appreciated urban jewel! Fantastic bird-watching; raptors and water birds abound.

JULIE LA BONTY

Love this place! So much to do!! Very clean and trails everywhere. I highly suggest getting the annual pass, it's definitely worth it!

Amanda Miron

We stayed at Chatfield in the camping area. We were testing out our new pop up camper. It was the perfect place to do that. Drive through spots with full hook ups plus bathrooms at every loop section. Walking paths around the lake as well. Lots of construction so bridge was closed that was inconvenient but wasn't terrible. You do have to pay for camping spot plus park admission. I think when you pay for camping spot park admission should be included. But the over all experience was great!

Ryan Shukis

Nice lake. I wish our family had a boat! Would have been so nice! I do wish the beach was cut back a bit more, allowing for parking closer to the shore. It was quite a walk, and we had a stroller, too. But overall, it was a very beautiful place!

Avis S. Domingue

We went on a hot air Balloon with our family, so beautiful, safe. On our bucket list. Ken, operator, he and crew do fantastic job, experienced 31 years!

Ryan

Awesome place to swim and fish. There are trails to hike and a dog park as well.

Tearra Sexton

Horrible experience. After driving around for hours trying to find a decent lake that allows swimming in the area, we decided finally to come here because they allowed pets and swimming. For the record we had 2 adults, 3 kids, and 3 dogs, all extremely hot and needing a dip. All reviews online mentioned being able to swim with their pets here. After paying the daily pass to enter we find out that swimming is ONLY allowed on swim beach and pets are NOT allowed. Tired, hot and extremely disappointed. We couldn't even get a refund and we were only there 15 mins (the time it took us to get to swim beach and then leave).

William Mayes

#ColoradoRiverSchool great day and thank you Lyle & (Future Super Dude) London. These gentlemen were truly Colorado. Knowledgeable, laid back, tuned in and helpful. It's good to know that YOU can experience good people, good learning and all out on the water (can't beat that) equating to great day.

Sabrina Stone

I really can only speak for the dog park, but the trails are great. Lots of garbage cans for poop filled bags. Everything is in great condition. Beautiful area!

Bruce Chamberlin

They cut down hundreds of mature shade trees. What is wrong with these engineers? ? Even though they planted new "seedlings," I won't see shade in my lifetime. The old park was much better.

Alex Carruth

We come here often as a family. The beach is large and a great swimming area. It will be great to have the gravel ponds open after construction. It's a great place to go without any motorized watercraft and be out on kayaks or stand up paddleboards.

Van Saukam

Over crowded anymore, I also always nearly come out with a bag of other humans' trash and litter. Too many pleasure boaters with little regard, courtesy, and respect for fishermen, whether in boats or on the shore. Yuppieville has come to Chatfield Reservoir.

ALAN PALACIOS

Amazing state park to birding! You need credit card to pay the acess.

Baby Dragon

I went to this park for the first time today with my dogs and noticed that there was a dog park and decided to check it out. I had just paid the 9 dollars to get into the park. Which I thought was overpriced to begin with. I did not notice the sign at the dog park asking to pay an additional 3 dollars to get into the dog park. I was with my 3 kids and 2 dogs and I guess a little distracted. I did notice the very obvious sign on the gate to get into the park asking that dogs be leashed when entering and exiting. -Would have been a nice place to put a sign telling people to pay before entering. So when a park ranger asked for my park pass, I assumed she meany the pass to Chatfield that I just paid 9 dollars for (I spent 15 minutes in the park too, so what rip off). But no, to my surprise, I needed to pay 3 bucks for a dog park pass. It was an honest to God mistake. I was so obviously oblivious to this. I missed the sign. Such horrible costumer service to not issue me a warning and explain the rules!! So instead she gives me a 100 dollar fine!!! WTF?? Oh and it gets better, yeah I can contest it in court but the court is in CASTLE ROCK!!! That's so far. They must bet on people not wanting to drive there for 100 bucks on a work day. Ughh. I'm so furious!! I will never go back here again. NEVER.

Norma Martinez

It was absolutely beautiful. We visited the DOLA (Dog Off Leash Area) Highly, highyl recommend for your furbabies. My girl Neeka had a blast splashing in the water and going for some short swims. The trail around that area is nice and pleasant. We drove around other areas of the park and we will definitely be going again

Marcia

Great place for outdoor activities. Beautiful lake, lots of hiking/biking. Need reservation to camp there but nice sites.

Jesse J

Wonderful state park with a dog park, separate lakes to paddle board, and just a vast amount of land to explore, bike, and run. The only problem I've run into is sometimes attempting to get a day pass you can get stuck in super long lines that can take over 20 minutes to get through.

Nina Sampier

This was a great place to bike. I felt safe and was I on a bike path for most of my ride. After, we went to the swim beach but it had "no swimming" signs. Little confusing being my first time there.

Andy Miller

We've taken our dog to the off-leash dog park here a few times, and it's been great! There's a decent variety of terrain and space for different activities, and some paved trails if you just want to go for a stroll or whatever. There's a few ponds that the dogs love as well. It usually is quite clean and I've not had any issues with unfriendly dogs yet.

Lynné Owens

This place is so nice, peaceful and beautiful. You can really enjoy nature. Love it here.

Nancy Werkmeister

I go early in the morning to row in my shell when the water is calm and the no wake zone is empty. I wish there was an area to drive down to the water just South of the swim beach to drop off ONLY non motorized vessels, then return to the parking area. It is a pain to carry everything from the parking area to the water from the parking area. It is a great place to row

Carrie Ardel

Awesome lake! Tons of space to relax (albeit the sand has biting flies). Great place to kayak, as the water is very calm. Great place to bring the pups to swim! Hopefully they open up the other entrance soon so there isn’t such a long line to wait in to get into the park!

George Durbin-Durbano

To be honest I drive by it every day I work there on C470 on the highway and I have been to Chatfield State Park but it looks beautiful and it looks like the all the improvements they made with construction is a real nice place to be

Michael Sault

Lots of hiking and bike trails, horseback riding, Watersports , model airplane Runway nice Big Sandy Beach and newly remodeled parking lots and Roads. Still a little construction going on but it is nearing completion and coming out really nice.

Ashley Crane

Took our kayaks out to the lake! Highly recommend wearing a bright color if you’re in something other than a boat, just to make sure people can see you! This lake is huge and there’s so much to do in the area! Camping, fishing, boating, ‘beach’

Cass Hansen

The new docks with a bigger parking lot. More picnic areas with shade. New Vaults kept clean. A lot to do. Absolutely Beautiful Park!

Jenlynne

I'm giving this state park five stars due to the cleanliness of the park and the friendliness of the campground hosts. We stayed in loop C . The hosts were friendly and very accommodating. This park has a lot to offer...only thing lacking was shade. Go prepared with an awning of some sort.

Brandon Holt

Nice size lake with access to the the river and smaller ponds. Decent fishing overall nice recreation area

Charles Finn

Never before have I had to pay for a site and then pay for my tow vehicle! I had to pay $220.00 for the week with an addition $9.00 per day for my tow vehicle. My daughter in law also had to pay the $9.00 per day. I went to shower and had to pay an addition $.50 per 3 minutes and $.25 for an additional 1 1/2 minutes. You couldn't stand in the shower long because it was too hot. When we complained, we were told it would be looked at. Apparently they never did. It was my first and last visit to this state park There are better and cheaper places to stay.

Jose Morales

Best lake/dam in the metro area... They're improving and adding more campgrounds and picnic areas... Only downside about it: it takes down trees and wildlife area

Autumn Suman

Beautiful lake and trails. They have water sport rentals and lessons. We took out a tandem kayak for 2 hours and it was awesome! The lake is really clean. A must see for everyone! We went around 12 on July 4th and had a hard time finding a parking spot, so either go before noon or after 2.

Derek Knoble

Camping here with the family and enjoy the ability for everyone to do something that they enjoy. Biking, running, fishing and boating to name a few.

Deanna Lowrance

Redid the roads and swim beach very clean and a great place to hang out with friends and family. The dog park is also a lot of fun if you have fur-kids

Snickerz

Great place for a quick camping trip perhaps over weekend. Also good for less experienced campers or seasoned campers that want more people around! Great people and good environment P.S. the reservoir is f*ckin beautiful

Diana Estores

This is close to Doggy Disneyland and gets in the season are changing

Amber Wiley

Get the CO state park pass! We use it almost every weekend and love the options. Chatfield has something for everyone, even dogs! Great trails to bike or hike... great swimming and friendly picnic areas. Find shade on a hot day!

Marty W

Great birding, nice waters (not just the big reservoir), fun kayaking or SUPing (& swimming areas too) in no-wake zones of the reservoir, as well as in outlying ponds & the South Platte. Nice Audubon Center adjacent. Get a State Park pass!

Hannah Combs King

Beautiful lake! I enjoyed a day of shore fishing here with my husband. There wasn't a ton of bites, but he caught two fish (bass and sunfish) and we had a great time. Parking was close to the lake, the shore was clean and we made friends with the local wildlife! Admission was around 5 bucks and worth it!

Fredrik Naess

This beautiful park is undergoing extensive construction. The infrastructure is being relocated to higher ground, in order to allow for a substantial increase in the size, depth, and storage capacity of the lake, so that ever more multitudes of people can move to the already overcrowded area. In the meantime, be prepared for a mess!

Michael Collier

Great park with lots of trails and fishing access. The dog park is HUGE and awesome! We spent the entire day fishing, swimming and walking the trails

Tony Gross

Fun location for a quiet visit on off hours. Beware of crowded conditions on week ends. Construction will end soon. Check status before going. Trails and road closures will affect your visit but the park will be awesome when completed.

Faith Maaliki

We had our family Reunion on a Saturday. I was lost for 45 minutes because the bridge was out. The signs are not clear enough to navigate quickly. The park was clean so were the restrooms. If you needed help the Rangers were available and helpful! We had a awesome time!

Lucille Thompson

We have our family reunions there. It's always a great time.

Joshua Buehler

Wonderful place to go for a walk with friends and spot some nature on the path. It's pretty dang neat if you ask me

Lacey Korn

Amazing Park located not to far from the inner city or the outer suburbs. Great place for a picnic, fishing, a little hike, or just to get away from the city life for a day! Family friendly for the kiddos or the grandparents. We unfortunately got rained out but will be back for an amazing experience again in God's natural beauty.

Melissa Gazaway

Super nice state park. Lots to do and see.

Meimei Gua

This is a very beautiful State Park. Lots of nice camping sites and boating and they are building more. I photograph wildlife as a hobby and saw a lot of birds there. They fill up quickly though in the summer. Where we were site 046 the wifi was spotty at best so don't depend on that necessarily. Have your own if possible.

Hilal Mushtaque

Chatfield reservoir is really huge and amazing. It was very cold the day we went with family. The shore was quite and calm. You can bring your own boats and do boating. There is also option of paid boats also, although currently this option is closed until 2020 details mentioned on the state park website. They also have barbecue option, just need to bring stuff to bake and fire it (equipment not needed, unless you don’t want to use it). Overall it was very good experience, worth going specially with family and group.

Ashley Tovrea

Best res in the state! Family friendly, and beautiful! Fill up your car for only $10!

Eddie Torres

Awesome nature trails....truly soothes the soul just being here...if u enjoy being around nature while walking, jogging, bicycling and fishing this park can't be beat.

Jacob P

They are (still) working on the south east/east side of the park, meaning a large portion of this beautiful place goes sadly untouched, therefore is unappreciated. But the rest of the park is easily accessible, and has all the features of a good get away packed into one. It is currently under a remodel and isn't expected to be finished soon. The marina which offered a restaraunt, tackle, and last minute rec items has been shut down. So do bring what you need! The camp grounds have a large lack of privacy, so generally RVs will be everywhere. But I love to bring out the bicycle or kayak and go fishing for the day. It's a wonderful escape from the city, within the city.

Carson Martin

I always love coming here with my family each year and tubing. It's lots of fun and the whole family enjoys it. The waters nice and open and there is a friendly, open environment. The only issue is that almost all the trees have been cut down and hardly any have been planted in its place. It just makes the area seem a lot thinner and not the same. But overall it was a fun day boating.

James Rafferty

Great park nice sites they have sites with Power and water sewer hook ups also dry camping sites for tents also have group sites if you have a lot of folks reccomend reservations as this park fills up fast on the weekends from Monday to Wednesday it's easy but otherwise better have reservations. Really nice lake and marina with fuel docks and bait

Sarah Sadie Beals

One of our pup's favorite places. She LOVES the off leash dog park. The area is peaceful and less crowded than some other state parks/dog parks, plus it's not too far away. Walking loop is pleasant and a nice distance.

Emily Binuya

We went to the Chatfield Dog Park and it was so much fun! My pup had a lot of fun hanging out with the other dogs and playing in the little lakes they have. The machine that you pay for the pass, down by the actual dog park was broken. So, bring cash if you want to use the park or pay for it up at the front. That's the only reason it wasn't a 5/5. We don't carry cash so we had to search our car for coins which took a bit longer. I would definitely recommend checking it out, it's a great place to let your dogs off leash in a bigger area to let roam around until you're ready to head home.

Joe Lights

Chatfield is a star in the city of Denver. The renovations they are doing here is making this place even greater. They are raising the level of the lake around 14 feet or so and there is a lot of new construction but it's a great lake to visit.

Jeri Peckham

They lake is nice but so busy it's hard to find a place to camp or fish.

V Riley

We go here all the time and love it! What's not to love about a clean beautiful park/ beach in the city?! I wish they would monitor the taking out and unloading areas and when it's busy make people load the boats on one side and unload on another to make things flow better. But otherwise great!

Kory Gershmel

Amazing place to just have a good time!!! Don't be scared to walk back to secluded area more the worth the walk!!!

Rebecca Street

There's a very small designated swimming area on a pretty large lake (pets aren't allowed in this area). We were informed this is for the safety of the swimmers due to all of the boaters. I didn't think the lake was that amazing and I was further disturbed because we were forced out of the water by fish and wildlife for not swimming in the designated area. There was no signage to indicate that swimming wasn't permitted outside of the area. $9 entry fee. Showers are .25 cents a minute and there are too many restrictions. Probably great if you have a boat but as a beach goer, not fun.

Jordon Christian

Don't fish here, not worth the trip if that's all your doing, the most you will catch is seaweed or boredum. I don't think there's any fish in there, bit I could be wrong maybe 1. Nice Beaches tho, and good for boating, and get pretty crowded on weekends. But you decide, I think 3 stars

D Cat

No cover for picnic tables, shore fishing is almost non-existent and they cut down a lot of the beautiful trees. It's going to be a long time before I visit again

Adrian Park

Came to the lakes north of 470 to do some fishing. There's a little pier by the lake (which is more of a pond) at the end of the road near the roundabout. The fish don't really bite off the pier but there's a good chance to see the beaver family that lives underneath it. I really enjoyed watching them carry twigs from across the pond and then swim back underneath. No swimming or boating on the lakes north of 470, you have to go to Chatfield proper for that. Fish also need to be 15" to keep.

Travis Yeggy

The sites are well taken care of. Real toilets and showers are also available and there are many activities, both free and paid, for the whole family. It would have gotten 5 stars if not for the wind factor, and I realize that's not under their control.

Eric Peña

Renovations are fantastic. Dog park now fenced, lots of parking and trails.

Angus Antics

Great place to get away from the city without going to far.

Bradley Garber

Nice park, well taken care of camping spots. They have a large number of spots and they are all relatively spaced out. They have full hook-up sites all the way to tent sites. Peaceful place to visit (when there isn't a model air show happening in the field behind the park).

Elvis Colucci

Our campsite, D184, we believed was one of the nicest in the park -- secluded, alot of space beside and behind us. Colorado State Parks raised their prices for 2019 and for a state park seem very pricey. You not only pay $40 for the campsite but have to pay $9/day usage fee. They also have pay showers, no free ones. Other than that, the campground was very nice and we liked our site. There were laundry facilities that we used (reasonably priced) and bathrooms were clean. We would stay again at this park because our daughter lives close to Littleton so when we visit, it's convenient.

Very clean sites and quiet at night during the week. Bathrooms were not the cleanest but hey, it is camping. No hand soap or garbage cans in the bathroom so come prepared with your own soap and carry out any garbage. We needed ice and a few other things so we drove to the marina after reading the map we received when driving in. Unfortunately it is now in a trailer during construction and only had warm water bottles and 2 boxes of small snacks. Thankfully there is a Safeway about 10 minutes away. Beautiful views and a great paved trail along the grounds to walk or run.

Nice place to cool down on those hot Colorado days! There's always alot of room for paddle boards!

Patricia Aragon

Great swim beach. Bathrooms, grills, plenty of space and parking. Always had a pleasant experience here. Bring bug spray and sunscreen.

Tena Cassidy

I love this park! Great place to boat and camp! Very nice park staff

Sammi Curr

Been going to this park since we were kids, for the better part of the last 40 years. nothing super awesome but it is a good Park it's local it's close and has quite a few features. Especially love the dog park that's the best part over all if you have a furry friend.

Mary Mungarro

It's a beautiful place , lot's of fish jumping .I will come back n tell my friends and family .

Come on Chatfield, get your act together regarding entrances, when you're full, when you're not, where you're going to start a line, if you're going to let people in 1 in 1 out, and when, and how, inform your people how it works, inform the public before hand how it works, and make sure the people who have to explain all of this to the public are informed and not rude, power and attitude wielding jerks! With as nice of improvements you've made recently, to be so inept at people skills and organizational aptitude and awareness is not only shocking its laughable. Consider park webcams to allow guests to see what's going on before they go. Get a system that has real time updates for how full and busy it is that's transparent and informative. Your failures on the fourth of July clearly shows your incapable ability to plan for volume and planning. I've been going to Chatfield for over 20 years and this is the worst I've seen you perform, which really is a failure when you look at the improvements to the park.

Very spacious with tons of parking. My dog and I did the whole loop and it took around 25 min. Great exercise for both of us and beautiful views the whole way.

So.Many.Dogs. But, that isn't a big deal here. The park is huge, with ponds, paths where your dog can crawl through brush, places for you to throw, and nice walking path for humans. There are some seating for the humans too! This park is a treat for any dog but I do suggest bringing some towels. The facilities are nice, nice dogs, nice location, and sooo much space. You won't be disappointed

PRS

Paddle boarding great at the gravel pit pond. New bathrooms great improvements have been done.

Austin Kush

Love this place! It's super busy during the summer but it's still beautiful! Awesome Marina, great swim beach, okay fishing but all around great way to spend a weekend

Elizabeth Frazee

Beautiful lake, not too crowded. There is a smaller beach north of the swim beach that has some shade trees.

Steve B

Great Camping. My first time in a RV. Very clean sites with alot of improvements to the whole area. Very Nice thanks for making my first two nights of camping in my RV so in joyable!

Bill Boucher

Awesome 60 acre of leash dog park with less of water features. Our springer loves it. Most people are great about picking up after their dogs too.

Michael Schuman

Had a nice little bike ride. Pretty flat. Some of the trails were flooded early in the season. Multi use trails so look out for for families with kids and for horses. Fun spot to jump in the river on a hot day.

Shari Henke

We enjoy watching and listening to the birds. My husband likes to fish. We also like that it's close to home. The definite downsides is the water sites are in the middle of a grassy area and far away from the road. Many people do not have a hose to reach that far! And having to drag it that far is difficult. And there's ONLY ONE dump station!! The camp has numerous sites and the waiting line is always long!! Not a pleasant way to begin or end the time spent there!

Vince Bowles

The line to get in is typically 30-45 minutes long. I've seen it longer. The Ranger told me it's because they sell annual passes at the window and it takes 5 minutes per car. The "beach' is dirt with rocks. No sand in sight.

Jay Parker

Beautiful place to take a morning stroll. You’ll see some wildlife, boaters, and have the place to yourself for the most part. Took my longboard for a nice long ride along one of the many paved paths

Kiran Angara

Lovely place. Water is nice and clean. Plenty of place to hang out on the beach. Im a regular at the pet off-leash area. My dogs love it there.

Carolyn Coop

Love this place. The off leash dog park is amazing. They have a station for rinsing off your dogs after they swim in the ponds. There is camping, fishing, boating, hiking, bird watching. I know I am just scratching the surface. I can't wait to try out the new swim beach.

Steven Prewitt

Excellent camping if you're not too experienced because town is close-- this is city camping. Sites are pretty close together so don't come looking for solitude.

Julie G

Spacious! Love the pull through sites. Doesn't feel like you're near a large city. Quiet and beautiful views.

Noah Thomas

Chatfield State Park is such a beautiful park that is well maintained. We live close and visit often to paddleboard. The lake can get busy on holiday weekends but is alwaysa fun time. The recent renovations have added more than enough parking over near the swim beach. Previously we have camped with family at both the tent and full hookup RV spots. The views are hard to rival and the grounds are very well kept. Each spot is cleaned and raked after each guest ends their stay so that you get a clean spot upon arrival. The R/C flying field is particularly awesome, especially during the Warbirds over Denver event in early June. Whether you're there to camp or spend time on the lake, I'd highly recommend Chatfield State Park.

Bill Kay

Mich better now with most of the upgrades completed. Very nice!

Brigitte Reid

Fun place for biking, hiking, paddle boarding , kayaking and more. Buy a pass if you will be visiting it more than 10 times a year.

Darrel Ludlow

"We are so pleased that this park allows the Newfoundland dog Club to host its Water Rescue Tests here!! We drive up from Texas to compete and it's a beautiful venue. The park rangers are very kind while still enforcing the rules. It does get a bit crowded so be prepared to get there early!" If you want to stay close to the city this a nice place to camp. The park is awesome and undergoing some upgrades. We always stay in D loop. The in D loop are large with plenty of space for your rig and cars and boats or whatever you want.

Chuck Gilmore

Nice place to play in the water, but $9. 00 is a lot for an entrance fee.

Chas Baxter

Kids had fun in the water. Biggest complaint I heard from everyone there that day is that there are no shaded areas like trees or awnings. Ground was extremely hard under the sand, making it difficult to pound stakes in for canopies or volleyball. They have a few tables clustered together by the bathroom under an awning, not sure if it's first come first serve or if you can reserve them. Bathrooms are decent.

Pamela McDonnell

Loved it with our dog. The water was great for her. It was clean and a short drive from where we live.

cat skiff

Such a beautiful place to camp and so much more! We will definitely come back again!

Laura Williams

Love the peace and quiet it here! One of my favorite in town camping spots!!!

Kaelyn Hops

They tell stories in certain areas, the rangers are super kind. They educate you on fires, and have professional fire people come out, and tell us stories. This place is amazing.
