This is a place that makes you want to meditate. It is so beautiful! I've been going there for years and I never tire of the experience. You will find see the most gorgeous redwoods ever. There is food and drink available, and an interesting gift store. Parking is difficult, so go early! It has become more crowded over the years. I believe it is now world famous, you will hear languages from all over the world spoken there. You may want to bus in.

I have wanted to go here for a very long time and was so happy to be amongst the trees! I'm from the midwest and was taken aback by the impressive beauty. Very easily walkable with defined paths and plenty of signage for you nature buffs interested in learning more about the area. I also saw my first Banana Slug!

This was a treat coming from the East coast. Yet alone the Midwest. Absolutely gorgeous. The trees were out of some fairy tale. As sunny as it was outside, the trees gave ample shade. The paths had historic markers. The large cross section of a tree that showed the age of a typical tree there, was insane! It's amazing to see something that old.

Hidden Gem! Transportation was unique just order your parking pass online before going. I spent about 4 hours hiking and taking pictures. The main boardwalk is mostly wheelchair friendly.

If you only have a bit of time - do this. You won’t regret it. Do the Loop crossing over at Bridge 3 if you’re short on time. We did the Bootjack Trail to Ben Johnson and it ran about 4.5 hours or so. It was a great hike. Go early to avoid the crowds and get your reservation! No cell service so plan accordingly.

Nice paved hiking trail along the side of the creek surrounded by tall old growth redwoods. There are plenty of benches installed along the trail so you can sit, relax, and enjoy the view of the redwoods. It feels less crowded than before they implement the reservation requirement (which is a good thing), but it could also be because we went on Sunday.

An important place for anyone wanting to create a connection with nature. Majestic primeval Redwoods, clear streams, lush ferns, and great fauna are accessible by all. The trails are perfectly maintained, some are accessible to mobility impaired people some can be a little challenging. This place is a real gem.

Absolutely incredible. Pictures don’t do it justice. Be sure to reserve parking early - it looks like parking can be quite far away so an early time slot is better. We spent quite awhile hiking in the park. We also ate lunch in the cafe which was also really good - the Muir Melt sandwich was delicious!

This place is amazing with old growth Redwood Trees. Fortunately the original settlers of this area of California didn't clear this valley and the old trees and other flora and fauna are preserved. The quiet is only disturbed by the sound of running water in the creek. A very relaxing and calming experience.

We stopped here on our way to San Francisco. It was absolutely amazing and we could have easily spent a whole day here. I would reccomend the hillside trail if you want something easy with nice views otherwise the bridge trails are also easy! Penny presser machine is a MUST by the gift shop.

A very well run and beautiful park. The fresh air is incredible and the weather normally a respite from the heat. A walk through the forest moon of Endor, guides with information about cults of famous people and their big Buddha statue, and an entirely too-fun gift-shop. It's impossible not to enjoy your time here whether it's for a little easy walk or a decent hike. Beaches not far and food all around back in town. Make sure to book your parking or arrange for the shuttle, and going early is always better as the crowds are smaller and much more respectful to the noises of nature. Enjoy this treasure with your eyes first and your camera second.

This place is magical. My teenage kids loved it. You can choose a small hike (10 minutes, or 20, ..) or longer ones. Like walking in a jungle. Great!

This place is so awesome I have come back again and again over the years. The pathways there are handicapped accessible. The trees are amazing! The walks can be customized to make them as long or as short as you need them to be for your personal needs. There are places to sit down as you go. It's a great place to really soak up nature. Some trees have been burned out by fire, and you can stand inside them. Make sure you stay on the path to preserve the beauty and preservation of this habitat, and do not remove anything.

Wife and I went on the trail right after the gift shop. It was a great trail saw a bunch of wild lands like snails, a snake and a few deer. The only issue we ran into was on the trail back down it was extremely step. The cafe in the gift store was nice. Only real issue we ran into was parking. We did not notice the sign the first time we went out and the reservation were taken that day

Muir Woods was great! It was so peaceful and the fresh smell of the clean air was very refreshing. The walk is not difficult and it is enjoyable. We saw some fingerling fish in the stream and enjoyed the sound of the stream going through the woods.

The trails are beautiful, the trees enormous, deer, fox and other critters can be seen early in the morning. Muir Woods just takes you back in time. It's clean air, fresh smells, just leaves one in awe of our Creators genius. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, stay on the trails. This needs to be there for future generations and the ground is protected for a good reason. I recommend going early as it does get busy. Reservations are a must due to available parking.

Muir Woods is well worth the trip! Beautiful, ancient (1200 - 1500 years old!) redwoods and peaceful trails. There are both flat, paved trails for those who need easier walking or are in wheelchairs and a bit more challenging trails with steps and elevation changes that take you to the canopies of the giants. Bring a picnic lunch and savor the scented fresh air or buy a sandwich to go in the gift shop. Be sure to reserve parking or take a tour bus. Parking outside of the grounds on the side of the road will not only get you a $99 fine, your car will be towed and impounded, leaving you no transportation. It takes a bit of planning to go to Muir Woods but is very worthwhile, especially if you have read the history of Kent, Muir, and Roosevelt and how these trees were almost lost to "progress".

Had a chance to walk through Muir woods on a longer hike. The redwoods were gorgeous and the views from the top were stunning. Would definitely recommend anyone in the are check it out. Make sure to reserve a parking spot in advance, otherwise you will need to hike from outside the park

Muir woods is a beautiful place that should be visited. The drive there is full of sharp curves and turns and I would recommend leaving the woods early enough to avoid the evening fog. Make sure you reserve your parking time on the website

You'll have to go beyond the "do not pass" signs to take get a feel for this place. The official areas are nice enough for tourists and people who need flat ground in order to walk in a forest, but for locals, I suggest getting lost in the miles and miles of ancient California off the beaten track.

Great experience, not a lot of mosquitoes, hikes are about an hour long at most. MAKE A RESERVATION BEFORE YOU GET HERE! There is hardly any cell service in the woods, so prepare & download everything ahead of time. We got there early for our reservation & the guard let us in.

The trees are beautiful but the area is under construction yet you have to pay a heft sum of $15 per person on top of $8 for parking. Parking starts from 500ft from the entrance into the park to about an eighth of a mile down the way. Only active duty gets free admission so find time during your service to our country cause they dont give a care about the Vets. Over all Sequoia National Park is much better and a bit cheaper.

We loved hiking here. It is a one of a kind experience. We reserved afternoon parking and were able to park close to the visitor center. It looked like sometimes the parking is pretty far out, my guess would be in the morning. My son was in awe of the giant trees. I highly recommend this park! ♥️

Finally saw the giant redwoods in person! We just spent a couple of hours, but if you have time, there's plenty of hiking to do. Informative placards are strategically placed to put these ancient organisms in America's more recent context. This is a beautiful and awe inspiring forest!

This was a great experience, highly recommend if your are close to San Francisco. Be aware that you need to do an online reservation in advance to go here, even on the same day of the visit but before getting close to the park as there is no service there, you can do this by going to the park website. They have 3 trail loops, I recommend to do the longest one as is faster than pointed in the flyer.

It was very beautiful and peaceful!! Not too crowded on a Thursday morning. Most of the extended trails were temporarily closed though which threw off our plans a bit but the main trail gives you a good enough experience. Fun souvenir shops with lots of variety and they have a little cafe if you get hungry. We just brought food with us but the menu looked good.

We went last fall to San Francisco and decided to stop here as it is close. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip. The park rangers are excited to teach kids. It was so beautiful and not overly crowded. Lots to explore and go at your own pace. My kids got to be junior park rangers and get a badge.

Absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing to be in a sacred place. The red roofs is truly a national monument. When we went they were doing some construction in order to help the Salmon for spawning season. It was a bit noisy and we believe this is what scared the wildlife away. Still a treasure to hike. We down half the day hiking the beautiful trails this gem had to offer.

Too crowded! Poor value for money. Was great on my previous visits 35 years ago. Would recommend visiting the woods using the alternate trail route. It's much more pleasant, but be prepared for a steep, long walk and àllocate plenty of time. Definitely worth visiting

recommended - RESERVE your parking upfront online (!) MANDATORY - almost no mobile coverage onsite. The park is very nice, the trees are amazing and the presentations which they give to us in the middle of the park was great, as well. The pricing is OK. You can take the walk also with a buggy.

Muir Woods is beautiful even in the rain so don't let weather stop you. Take a raincoat, poncho, or umbrella and some boots and walk through the majesty of the ancient forest. Learn some really neat history as you walk along the trail. They have an excellent gift shop with many items made from redwood to keep a lasting reminder of your adventure. The cafe serves coffee, sandwiches, and desserts.

Awesome views and trails. Just make sure you 100% know your starting point and which trail you are taking. I wouldn't take the dipsea trail on your ascent because it is rather steep for the first mile.

We hiked into Muir National Monument the back way through Mount Tamalpais State Park. That way we avoided the parking reservation situation and the crowds. The redwoods were breathtaking. The trails were challenging and steep but we now feel quite accomplished. We were pleased to have spotted crayfish in some of the streams but were crestfallen to later learn online that they are invasive species

A lovely place to go to with your beloved for a hike. Its so beautiful that u just would want to be there forever. We went over the weekend and hiked for around 8 miles. Make your parking reservations in advance. You dnt get signals there and that’s the best way to connect yourself to nature than the outside world. Reach at the earliest so as to enjoy the beauty of this place without any crowd. There is a small cafeteria and a gift shop to help you in case you feel hungry or want to pamper yourself with some souvenirs. There is a washroom almost at the entrance but you might get disappointed with no soap to wash your hands with. Carry your own sanitizer.

We spent a day here whilst in San Francisco, and do not regret it! The forest is filled with redwood and sequoia trees, which are very impressive. There are many trails you can take around the forest, however when we were there some of the longer ones were closed due to building work. The forest is very peaceful and quiet, which makes it a very relaxing place to be. One thing to beware of though: the drive in and out of Muir Woods is slightly unnerving, with some drops on the side. But nothing compared to the drive in Yosemite to glacier point, which was terrifying!

The redwoods have been here before Columbus and are majestic in their grandeur almost reaching up to the clouds. The ferns that grow below do well in the dim light that filters below these giant trees some dating back thousands of years. Their bark shields them from pests and fires making them almost invulnerable to natural forces but people knew how valuable their wood was in construction and manufacturing and many have been harvested to the point where they were threatened to disappear from this area. Fortunately far sighted naturalist and leaders made Muir Woods part of the National Park System and saved for our descendents to enjoy.

Excellent place to visit if you are in the SF Bay area and want to see more natural sights outside of the city. Recommended to check out parking and/or shuttle services before hand as this is an extremely popular place to visit. We took the shuttle from Pohono for $3 per person and it took us to the front gate of the park. Waits for the shuttles seem to vary greatly based on demand at the time you are taking them so planning for a less busy time would be recommended. The park entrance fee is $15 per person and is well worth the expense as the park is well maintained with park employees giving presentations every so often. If able, definitely take the Canopy View Trail as it brings you up into the trees and has less people around which is nice while out in this natural habitat.

Lousy parking arrangements. Y in the world can’t they build more parking space in a jungle? I was there 30min earlier than my parking booked time and I was shunted out to come back in 30min. Can’t make any sense to go all the way there at 3pm to be escorted out at 6. No other parking time available! Park is amazing for any one who never visited redwoods.

If you plan on parking at Muir Woods Visitor Center and using their lots you must purchase a parking pass on line before you go. There is very sketchy internet service so do it before arriving. Walking in there you will find wooden and asphalt paths and amazing giant redwoods. There are trails for hikes that could be quite challenging. We hiked a total of 6 miles in a couple hours. Phone said we did 56 floors. The locals seem to park along side the various surrounding roads and hike in from there.

Great place for a hike near San Francisco. The trails are beautiful with information about the trees along the way. The tall, dense trees in the tropical section of the woods seemed to block much of the sunlight along the path. Bridges and boardwalks added to the charm.

Expensive for what is listed as "free", mean parking staff, nice park and trails. National Parks are always great, but the parking folks are not actual NPS staff. They are a third party company and really not nice . Reserve parking on line before you go, because at the place there is no cell service....hmmm. There should be money collected at the place, first come first serve, like most parks do.

This is such an incredibly beautiful place. The trees are simply breathtaking. There are plenty of easy trails/boardwalks that make this park accessible, but visitors looking for a more challenging hike will have no trouble finding an adventure. The interpretive signs are really fascinating, and it's interesting to see what work is happening to preserve the area. Be sure to book your reservation early — LOTS of people want to go here every day, and they try to control the number of people in the park at a given time.

Beautiful!!! •••PREPAY FOR PARKING ONLINE BEFORE YOU GO!!••• there is NO service!! Muir woods is a beautiful "alternative" if you want to see the giant sequoia trees. Although the trees are absolutely big and tall they are certainly not the massive sized ones at Sequoia National Park. BUT THATS THE POINT...and that's why it makes a great alternative. You get to walk beautifully made trails to see these big wonderful trees. It is very peaceful, even though they are doing some construction through out. ~wear sneakers/ good shoes~ They also have a little cozy gift shop and cafe. The only cons is that is very expensive for parking AND entrance. It ended up costing us (a group of 3 adults) 50$ . Additionally you HAVE to buy your parking online, which is a hassle.

Absolutely awesome forest. Great for kids, no dogs allowed. The river is lovely and its great to go by yourself or with people. Would recommend going around sundown as there will be less people. I got in without a reservation, but only because it wasnt too busy when i arrived. The beach is also beautiful and worth a visit, it is dog friendly

Pros: The air smells amazing. It's small so around 2-3 hours to explore the park. There is cheap public transit shuttle from Sausilito to Muir Woods ($1.50 round trip per person). Cons: People don't observe the quiet/whisper rule. Need to book parking and shuttle in advance. Roads are very winding up to and down from the park. No cell service in the park so you won't be able to call an Uber.

I love walking through Muir Woods. The air is so fresh. The trees are splendid...We are last minute folks so reserving in advance is a bit of a frustration for us. Note: Parking and shuttle reservations are required in advance. Shutle is $3- per person (under 15 free) $8 to reserve parking. Entrance fee depends on your circumstances and time of year ( a few days a year it is free for all), be sure to check out the park website for all details.

Great place to visit a lot. The place is currently undergoing renovations so part of the place with elements of plastic films and tractors that disturb pastoral. At the end of August the flow of water is low, it is best to arrive in the spring.

Great outdoors experience, be sure to make a reservation for the parking in advance ($8) , the website is very easy to use and you can even buy the tickets to enter the park from there (same price as the entrance $15 per person). They have several hiking trails and a café if you get tired. They don't have trash cans in site, so be sure to pack up your trash so we can preserve this natural area.

One, if not the, best places to see coastal redwoods. They are mind blowing up close. Do not miss this if you are touring near San Francisco. It's like being in a movie. Surreal! Most peaceful place I have ever been.

I went to this park when I was a little kid and I tried to go recently, but it was hard to because you have to reserve a parking spot or get public transportation to the park. I did not like that you could not just go there with your own car. Even though this is a bummer, it is still nice that it is a park that is free of charge for everyone. To anyone trying to go, if you have your own car, go online to their website and reserve a parking.

Nice walking path along the creek with many more hiking trails for different skill/interests levels. Plan ahead with parking reservations and/or shuttle reservations. Very beautiful, but at this point we believed there was not many locations to see redwoods(as we're Minnesotans). There are many more locations up the coast that have redwoods that are bigger and more dense. I did appreciate the wooden walking paths and history of the park.

Beautiful place, definitely worth going to. The Ben Johnson trail is worth hiking, it's beautiful and not too crowded. Although it is very steep. Taking that trail and then connecting to the dip sea trail and going up to cardiac hill was awesome. It was a bit foggy/misty when we made it but if you wait until the afternoon it should clear up.

The walks are laid out in a way that gives you a great experience while protecting the trees. The guides are knowledgeable and clearly love their work. Great gift shop with wonderful redwood products, seedlings you can plant at home, shirts, totes bags, and more. Be sure to take a moment to just soak in the atmosphere. It's an incredibly peaceful place. I took a couple hundred photos - no exaggeration.

I’ve travelled a lot to San Francisco and been to many surrounding places. I can’t believe I always pass up on visiting Muir Woods. Easily became the highlight of my trip and the two hour walk we took was so relaxing being surrounded by nature, so serene and peaceful. Even the souvenir shop was different from all the shops we go to in that they have unique wooden souvenirs and merchandise, hardly any of the mass produced items. Note to visitors: always reserve your parking in advance through their website. No cell connectivity in the entrance!

I absolutely loved Muir Woods. There are easy trails and then you can go on more adventurous trails if you wish. You need to book parking in advance and be warned, it gets booked up. My advice would be to reserve an early spot. You can stay all day. We visited on Christmas Day and when we left at lunch time, the car parks were all full. There is also a cafe and a gift shop.

I really enjoy this monument, the visitor's center is a great place to start. The redwood groves are superb, the trails are maintained, and from the monument you can walk or hike around the area.

Spent a few hours here with family and friends. My partner had been to Muir Wooda on a previous trip, however, it was my 1st trip. California Redwoods are beautiful and the vegetation within are something to behold. Several walking paths with informative plaques and stations along the way. Information center and tourist center do a good job with selections, both furthering the memory of its namesake but his purpose of preserving and educating others of nature's wonders!

Very beautiful place. 15.00 a piece per adult and 8.00 for parking in advance. You must reserve a spot to park. If you're gonna block off a bunch of trails to do maintenance, you need to give people a discount or at least tell them before we shell out a bunch of money. All the construction fence and equipment spoiled a lot of picture taking.

LOVED this place! You need a reservation for parking. We got stuck with the earliest time slot, but I am thrilled that we did! Had the park almost to ourselves, and got to enjoy the park at our own pace and in a tranquil setting! Even still I would recommend going to see the park! It is like stepping back in time!!! I half expected to see a dinosaur roaming around lol. Go see for yourself!

Absolutely beautiful, I take everyone who visits us here. There is a relatively flat stroller/wheelchair friendly loop that gives you a taste of the beauty of the redwoods. If you truly want be awestruck I recommend the hiking trails, general rule of thumb is the harder they are the prettier they are.

Incredible. Absolutely beautiful place to visit, and is easy to walk on timber pathways. Also has "off track" walks for those wanting to explore, but the standard path offers a great view of the trees and bushland. Once there, you can easily take a couple of hours strolling and taking in the trees. Make sure to book parking in advance.... $8 from memory, and times do fill up, so dont leave it till the last minute.

This was one of those experiences I don't imagine I will ever forget. Almost surreal. These trees are spectacular. Not much more could sufficiently capture their grandeur. My wife and I walked the loop from bridge 2 to the upper trail that took us all the way to bridge 4, back to bridge 3 where we crossed the creek again and ended at bridge 1. It was about a two mile hike but gave us a great sense of the park.

A very small example of the wonder of nature in Northern California. We took a tour bus which only gave us an hour and a half, just enough time to take in the initial trail. If you want to do a 'proper' hike organise another way of getting there.

Muir Woods National Park feels like an enchanted forest. The redwoods are beautiful and feels very powerful hundreds of feet in the air. The trails, Bridges 1-4, are easy hikes, with Bridge #4 being the longest (about 60-90 minutes) and most strenuous, but it's not difficult at all. If you're going with small children you should hold their hand while hiking up since the side doesn't have a barrier and the drop is pretty steep. Just an fyi. We enjoyed a tasty grilled cheese sandwich and salad from the cafe after our hike. I appreciate that the food is from local sources.

A beautiful Marin County landmark that lives up to its reputation. The park is an easy day trip from the city. There is no cell reception in the park. Reservations are required for the lot at the park entrance, and there is a $15 entrance fee at the visitor's center. Get these online, as the parking reservation often runs out (a helpful sign on Highway 1 will usually say this). The core of the park is in a ravine, filled with old-growth redwoods. The trail there is almost entirely flat, and you can choose the difficulty and length of your hike. The shortest hikes are flat and wheelchair accessible, as they are either paved or on wooden boards. The longest hike in the ravine is to Bridge Four (shoutout to the Stormlight Archive), which includes an option to hike back on the side of the ravine with a view of the massive tree trunks. If you want a more difficult hike, you can start at several different spots on the Panoramic Highway and hike down and back up. This is a way to skip the fees and reservations, but these hikes are not flat and are fairly long. I've also climbed to the top of Mt. Tam from the visitor center, which isn't terrible so long as you're in shape.

This is a must see at least once to hike amongst the enormous Redwoods. We stopped here from Oakland on the way up to Sonoma. You must have a parking reservation which is $8 and admission is $15. Trail maps are $1 and the trails are not that well marked aside from the main paved trail that is way too crowded. It said the other dirt trains were closed but we ended up on the Canopy Trail, Lost Trail and Panoramic Trail that went up with a view of the ocean. It was about a 1000 foot climb so we were happy to see the view. Definitely allow extra time if you plan to venture off the main trail (which I would recommend)

This national monument is so beautiful and is a must-see! There's the easy (boardwalk) trail and other nice non-pvaed trails to explore the beauty of the woods. I visited with a tour company and discovered the history behind it and I couldn't be more thankful for the effort put into protecting and conserving this monument.

Beautiful park/area. Wish I was able to spend more time exploring the grounds. There are multiple hiking trails that you can attempt, each with an accompanying map that displays the mileage and an estimate of how long it will take to complete the trail.

A must see if you are in the San Francisco area. Book in advance during peak seasons as it gets very busy - I would recommend an early booking to get the most out of parking and a full day walking the trails. There is an accessible boardwalk path that links up with many different trails. For people who want a more rugged redwood experience, I would highly recommend taking a trail away from the larger tourist crowds. The cafe can be really busy and hard to move through at busy times, so go during off lunch hours if possible. A magical place that will make you feel as if you are in a fairytale world; I am already longing to return.

Muir woods is a beautiful forest. The kind that creates that awe for nature, and intimidates you for your smallness. It's so beautiful that you actually learn how to spell Muir so you can show others. You need reservations to park there, or you can reserve a shuttle to get there as well. Point is, check their website before you visit. I've been there before, and didn't know about this change. Also, it's Endor if you're a huge nerd and like that. (Don't feel bad, I thought it was cool for that reason too). A fit person can see it all in about 2 hours, but I recommend a longer visit if you're able, and enjoy giant trees.

This place is truly unique and absolutely amazing. We visited in September and weather was great. Truly unbelievable experience. The entire trail would take a few days to leisurely complete so plan time if you want to see everything. When visiting try to stay clear of loud groups to take in the sights and sounds without any interruption.

If you are in San Francisco and like Woods this is one place you should not miss. The place is tough to define, It's not just a forest, it's got much more to it. It has lots of history, tall big red wood trees which you should definitely hug, gives a feeling of calmness. If you are visiting remember to carry a jacket as it's mostly much cooler there even in summers. Enjoy! PS: don't forget to hug a tree... Trust me you will love it.

Comfortable park to walk in. The redwoods are gorgeous. Facilities are well maintained. I suggest to visit in the early morning when the sunlight are soft. With or without car, you will need to do a little planning before you visit. Will definitely revisit when I have time.

Amazingly beautiful park. I could not stop admiring the beauty of the tall Redwood trees. Those Giants are truly inspiring. The hiking trails are well planned. The wooden walkway is very nice and elders with difficulty with walking can take a gentle stroll there.

There are so many trails to choose from, it would easily take several full-day trips to see all of them. The paved path is nice and still allows for a good hour to hour-and-a-half trip. The only downside is that they say parking requires "reservation", but really you just have to buy it online. So if you show up and there is parking available, you can't just pay the attendant, you have to drive back out to get cell service, make the purchase, then park.

Muir woods, it's no wonder what makes it so popular, it's an oasis easily accessible from the city of San Francisco that doesn't require hours of driving. While the mileage from the city isn't high, getting into it has become more difficult, you either need a parking reservation for 8/car, or take the shuttle from one of the shuttle stops outside. That's probably the biggest downfall, admission is pricey at 15/adult but get the national park pass and you can go to other parks to explore as well! At the main entrance there is a leisurely stroll you can take that's fully paved, or challenge yourself to a longer hike above the valley floor!

Muir Wood National Monument is a fantastic place for family and individuals. Huge, tall old Sequoia/redwood trees exhaling bunch of oxygen, great trailing/hiking experience, in the vicinity of Muir and Stanson beach makes it a must go place for people near to SF. Tip: Parking reservation is mandatory and needs to be done online before going there. America the beautiful ( Pass to all US national park) is accepted here.

A wonderful national park with giant redwoods and level walking paths. The scenery is simply gorgeous and there are many places to take pictures as well. The visitor center was clean and chock-full of history of the surrounding area. A great way to spend a day.

I wish I was a tree nymph! I love this place! There were a lot more noisy people than I remember from the last time I was here. Many people were respectfully quiet, but the loud people were a bit obnoxious. Don't be obnoxious. The trees are huge and beautiful! It is worth the hike up hillside trail to get a better idea of how gigantic they really are!

We love coming here. Especially when the weather is cool and the air is crisp. Walking amongst the towering sequoias and redwoods is meditative and restorative to the mind and soul. For first timers, take the main path as you go into the woods, then take the hillside path on the return for a unique perspective above some of the canopies. The gift store is a great place to stop for some hot chocolate. I just wish more people respect the silence in the Cathedral. Also, note that you need to reserve parking beforehand, and do it when you still have cellphone service before entering the vicinity of the park.

The hiking in this area is easy and beautiful. Even though it was a little crowded, the Woods were quiet enough to hear the birds and the stream. It was very relaxing and clean.

The Monument itself is great. I loved how accessible it was, great to see so many strollers and wheelchairs out in nature. Can't say it was the best of experiences though. Currently (9/14/2019) many trails are under construction. There are a lot of crews working, heavy equipment including excavators and bobcats, rerouted trails. Our son loves that sort of thing, but it's incongruous in a place revered for peace and quiet. Even the steams are in a pipeline for much of the main loop. Information about the reservation requirements was not obvious coming the way we did, through the Mill Valley hills. We had to drive back out to find service and reserve a spot. And the reservation page was only for parking, they could not confirm we had paid the entry fee ($15 per adult) from that reservation. Since there was no service we could not bring up a confirmation page at the visitors center. So, plan it out. Or plan to go elsewhere. This page says parking is free but it isn't. $8 when we visited.

We we're late there. We reached at 7.30 and it was not crowded. We missed the gift shop as it crossed 7pm. This place will close at 8pm. worth visiting once. Park is full of redwoods and nicely arranged. Walkways are really good. Didn't get much time to explore this place. You should take care of your parking before, if you are planning to visit this place

Do some research before your visit. On-site parking requires an online reservation, and on-site cell service is non-existent. Alternatively, you can park off-site and take a shuttle over, but that also requires reservations and you might not be able to board the first bus as no standing room is permitted. That said, totally worth all of the complications because this place is astonishingly beautiful and on the same level as the Grand Canyon - something that must be seen in person.

The Redwoods are stunning. Go early in the morning. I walked up and a family of deer were right in front of me. Walked to the top end of the park and watched the fog roll off the hills and down into the valley. If you walk up to higher elevations, you have beautiful vistas. So tranquil!

I've seen a lot of cool stuff from the rockies to grand canyon to the ocean and other countries and for me the redwoods are the best of them all. Can't wait to go back.
