REVIEWS OF Joshua Tree National Park IN California

Aydia EAston

Beautiful place with lots of pretty trees and super cool rocks to climb! Definitely recommend! Really fun, camping would be awesome, hopefully we'll go again! (Also, the gift shop has amazing shirts, bought one for myself)

Juljan Desmet

A place of wonder. You could be here for weeks and still see new things. It's a magical park with beautiful Joshua trees and excellent hiking trails to everyone's liking. There is also a big chance to see animals. Small tip: you need to pay entrance, but if you plan on doing more than one national park (like Yosemite or Sequoia) it's smarter to buy an America the beautiful pass for 80 dollars.

Eugene Watson

Totally worth it. Incredible park with incredible beauty. Do take a walk. No wonder this area was turned into a park. Loved it.

mack enzie

Beautiful place. Definitely worth the drive out there.

V G

I just appreciate all nature, my family stopped by when we were heading to our uncle's cabin.

adriano jr

Been in Joshua national park. Make you question who really are you. A victim of the world or the whole world?

renee smith

Beautiful landscaping! You can see for miles. It was there that I saw my first rattlesnake. At a safe distance of course! Lol! Will visit again.

Patrick Dunlop

Truly a neat geological area! The national parks truly make you realize how special, and amazing nature is, and how fragile and small the areas truly are. There is no other place on Earth like it, and the area is so small, a very humbling experience and treat to be able to enjoy it!

Kae Zenisek

So beautiful, it's worth a trip, only wish I had been able to see the stars at night! Park Rangers are very helpful.

teresia torndahl

If you like to try a desert hike, this is a excellent place. It has easy, moderate, strenuous hikes depending of your mood and/ or challenge of the day. The park has a lots of exhibits. And you will be surprise of all the wildlife. And of course you are going to get stunned by all the amazing rocks and pebbles, views from the mountains and all the great Joshua Tree's.

Jeffrey Fuller

I'm a truck driver I see a lot of places don't know if I was in a National Park, but I do like seeing those Joshua Desert trees out my windows.

Timothy. Friedeck

Such a beautiful place and so much to see. The cactus and wildflower bloom was absolutely gorgeous. Just remember to reserve a camp site well in advance

Pedro Ibarra

Great place to hike and have a good time watching nature and exercising or hiking Trails seem similar to one another and the desert isn't always the nicest place (it gets very hot very early + there's a lot of rocky train and repeat (albeit beautiful) scenery all around)

Christina Castillo

This is a beautiful place to drive at night, the stars are gorgeous. We don't get to admire them in the cities. Just be careful driving at night, rabbits and mice run across the road. If you want an outside date night, this is a good place to go. Or a good place to spend time with friends or family!

Sabrina Bailey

Great for a day or a a whole camping trip. Lots to see here, easy roads to follow. Joshua Trees are interesting. Do make sure that you enter the park with enough water and gas. Pay attention to trail signs so you don't get lost. The park has trails for the hikers, as well as some drive up location that don't involve hiking. There is no food or shops in the park so be prepared for that. Have fun, enjoy the beauty of nature

Viera Matuska

Totally worth it. Incredible park with incredible beauty. Do take a walk. No wonder this area was turned into a park. Loved it.

Daniel Yi

Should I mention this national park is one of nature wonder? Seen campers in this park. Just amazing. This park require to conquer and explore. Not just hop on hop off destination for a day trip before to your grandparents who might live in Palm Springs CA. Please do challenge your top gun muscles and psychological strength. You will be proud that you climb unimaginable shaped of rocks and trails. Make sure well prepared for weather conditions.

Steve Luhrs

Nice park. Beautiful landscape. Next time I visit it will not be summer

Craig Ackerman

Amazing experience overall. Sights I've never seen before and being able to walk all over the place is awesome. I could not have had a better time exploring with my fiance.

amanda bockelie

A lot to see here plan for at least 3 hours. Very helpful park rangers.

Ryan Townsend

The visitor centers were pretty disappointing. It was nice driving through the park, but not a lot going on other than beautiful scenery.

Minzies Mirte

Well marked Trails! I had a great time in the Joshua Tree National Park. The nature is amazing, there is a lot to discover and thanks to the awesome work of the Park Rangers the trails are well marked and i felt safe to go and discover on my own.

PJ Kearns

Otherworldly. Not to be missed if you're in the area, lots to see and explore, incredible flora, fauna, geology and traces of our human presence going back thousands of years. Please leave it as you found it, take your rubbish with you and don't swing off the trees. If you're caught, you'll be in deep shtuck, fines or jail time and you'll deserve them too.

Julie Miller

The views are gorgeous. If you are looking to meander and relax this is the place. It is hot, so make sure you have on sunscreen, plenty of water and good walking shoes.

Alex Rice

There is a natural mystic flowing through the air in this park. It is such an amazing place to hike and drive through. A must see in southern California.

Quinn Daiker

This place is so unusual... like another world! The stone/boulder mountains were very pretty and unbelievably huge. There are many Joshua Trees and it's a must see National park. There is camping at certain times of the year but in general it's a very hot place. Both days we were here were over 100 degrees during the day.

Jason Lindke

It's hot, it's bright, it's the desert! So far I've only seen jack rabbits, lizards, and Joshua trees but I'm sure there is more life out there. Probably hiding from the heat!

Lisa Morgan

Stunning landscape and vistas! So much to see. This is a must see when in the Palm Springs area!

Donna Sweet

Amazingly peaceful!! A must do ride, stop and enjoy the wonder if it all. America the Great!!

Andrew Devine

If Dr Seuss created a place in the world, this would be it. Feels like you're on another planet with big blue skies. Could seriously live here forever.

Heaven Morgan

Beautiful, the only place to find the Joshua Tree (which reminds me of the tree from the Lorax). Great detour on the way from San Diego to Vegas. Lovely open space to camp or just enjoy nature. Bring water, it can get hot.

Robert Ramirez

I have the National Park Service Yearly Pass. Great for families to see nature and you can see millions of stars above

Bruce Bracken

I was just expecting a bunch of Joshua trees. There is so much more to see there. Don't miss it!

Richard Robin

Great for hiking! Beautiful landscape! Bring lots of water when you home though!

Trina Schneider

My sister and I love going there we could go every single day and see something different. It’s a really enjoyable park, there’s gentle hikes, there’s middle of the road hikes and then there’s excruciating oh my God I’m gonna die hike. I think fall is the best time to go as it’s very cool in the morning and you could hike for a long time before you become overheated. Spring is great because the desert bloom is going on and it’s one of those wonderful rare sight. Depending on where you hike it could be very quiet and almost a spiritual experience. Be sure and pack water, but please be sure to pack out your trash and empty water bottles keep the MP pristine for the rest of us.

Rose Jackson

Amazing place! I've been here several times and can't get enough. It's just beautiful and so picturesque!

Sv Pitchford

Joshua Tree National Park is a must-see when I visit Palm Springs! From the intriguing rock formations to the amazing landscape, each trail is special. I find something next each visit. The trails are well marked so there's no chance is getting lost. If you're adventurous, and have the right equipment, rock climbing is encouraged.

Edward Crawford

Beautiful place to visit with friends and family. I visited here once and had great time with family. We enjoy hiking and food it was our best picnic. We really had a great time here.

Jonathan Harris

Unique and one-of-a-kind natural treasure. Not to be missed. It's like time travel in your car.

Kaelin Slape

Worst time to visit is on a long, hot, summer day...better times are cool spring or autumn nights when stargazing is do-able. Lots of opportunities to spot UFOs, satellites, and meteors! Sunrises are absolutely beautiful in the desert.

Sandi Young

I took my mom for a drive through the park as something to do. Wow! We went to the Twenty Nine Palms entrance and drove through to the Joshua Tree entrance. It is a National Park, therefore there is a fee to enter. We stopped several times to take in the sights and walk some trails. My mom is handicapped and was able to view some of the outlooks. It was hot, be prepared with proper footwear, sunscreen, hats, umbrella, water and snacks. There are many places to explore, camp, hike and walk. Restrooms (restrooms are pits) and picnic areas (picnic areas are not shaded) are available. Some roads are dirt, but well traveled. Expect to spend a few hours in the park. I suggest making the loop if you never been and plan on having a picnic lunch. I suggest stopping at The Oasis Visitor Center at the Twenty Nine Palms entrance. It has a nice gift shop, information center and is the site of Oasis of Mara. Also, Keys View is a must see. It's a stunning view of the Palm Springs valley to the Salton Sea and the surrounding mountains.

emily langham

Had the most magical time here watching the sunset and then after watching the stars. You can climb up some of the rocks to get a better view. The park has multiple hikes. We did two hikes which were both around a mile long. Quite easy to find, just follow the signs. I would recommended buying a national park pass as an entry pass is around half the price. So if you would come twice a year (or visit another park) you would save money.

Joohee Jung

Love Joshua Tree National Park !!!! This tree can be seen only this Area ! So you may want to visit this place :) And you will see amazing night view here, if you like camping and stargazing

Marty Keef

Despite sometimes long waits to clear the entry gates the park is big, varied, and interesting. Available campsites are booked well in advance. Leaving the Park through the SW gate leads to an interesting strata lined canyon that will take you to the N end of The Salton Sea. A GREAT motorcycle ride.

Jessica Hash

We didn't do much here except get our passport stamped; it was too hot. It would probably be a great place to visit in 6 months...

Gia Maria Photos

Just goregous! What a sight to see. Joshua Tree is a must see of California! As far as I'm concerned if you don't go there, you haven't been to Cali.

Emilie Logeais

As any national Park, Joshua Tree is amazing for nature lovers! Excellent place for rock climbers. If you want to go on an adventure off the trail you might prefer having a good pair of jeans because of plants.

Kristina Derosier

Enjoy just hiking or a small walk. Sometimes we like to take our lunch and go to the park and eat.

Steven Mejia

Such a beautiful national park to visit. Catching the sunset at Keys View was a perfect way to end the day. Taking a drive from the Northern Entrance to the southern should provide plenty of sites to stop and admire. Will be coming back again soon.

Thomas

I really enjoyed the Joshua Tree Park... It's close to LA being a perfect one day trip. Depending on your expectations your experience there may vary, for me - I love watching the strange, always different shapes of the Joshua Trees.

Lou Tennant

A must see if in Southern California. Beautiful rock formations and mountains. You can choose to drive around the park or you can pull over and hike trails. The staff is helpful and friendly. One of my favorite places. I highly recommend this National Park.

Jeremy Thomas

Amazing national park - a really serene and beautiful place to visit, especially later in the day. The amazing succulents, cacti and other desert plants make a colourful accompaniment to the rocky backdrop. Around every corner is a new sight, and there are even a few desert creatures about if you've got sharp eyes...

Andrew Shay

Most unique national park I've visited so far! If you want a long and cool drive, go up the south entrance buy if you want to see trees right away enter from the North

Jim Walsh

It's like a different planet, definitely worth the visit. We were lucky enough to see 2 desert tortoises on or trip, one early in the morning and one just before sunset. There's also some good climbing/bouldering if you like that, we found the west end to have better rock.

Lord Scratch

Joshua Tree is a place of serene beauty. Sunset in the cactus garden is other worldly, camping among the immense boulders while the Milky Way spills across the sky is the closest feeling to true magic I've ever had.

Nathan Domino

I came to visit friends. While the trees are cool they get old pretty fast. The hiking and whatnot is very similar to every other park in the southwest. Barren land with lots of rock and desert shrubs. Once you have had your fill of the trees, it doesn't have much more to offer.

Andrew Baker

Beautiful place. Don't abuse it. It snowed there on the day we visited. Yep. Snow.

Bon Manhkong

Over the years, you learn to appreciate the Desert. There's life in a hot dry climate and arid landscape. Cacti, bushes, trees and wildflowers have adapted to the harshest conditions with little water. Rock scrambling is so fun.

Olivier della Valle

This is such an awesome park!! We didn't have that much time unfortunately but we still had an incredible experience exploring and hiking. We even saw some horned animals which was the cherry on top.

D.L. Matthews

It was a beautiful spring day and the company was good and the scenery was fantastic. There is a song I know that talks about the desert blossoming like a rose, well while there were no roses, there were plenty of flowers in spectacular colors, changing the desert into an oasis in many spots throughout the park. I will visit here again and again.

Elysium Joy

A lot of driving with very similar scenery throughout... Highlight was the large stone area where the stones appear to come out of nowhere and do not fit the landscape. Pleasant but not terribly interesting.

Ben Cadwell

I’ve only been to Joshua Tree National Park twice and both times have been in September. I definitely recommend this time of year to visit! The overnight temperatures were in the 60-70’s, perfect for sleeping! Amazing sunsets and sunrises as well as the stars at night! Our kids loved Jumbo Rock Campground with being able to climb all over the rocks!

Dsrtwillow

Amazing and unique. Tough climbs, easy climbs, great hikes and easy walks. Carry water and wear good closed shoes.

Jessica Broadway

Bring sunscreen and plenty of water! The jackrabbits and little lizards are really neat. Great views, beautiful sunsets. No showers at the campground, but there were flush toilets at our area.

Yue Pan

It's a wonderful weekend retreat place to go!Definitely check the temperature and bring tons of water before going on a trail, also watch out for the bees in the parking lot if you plan to go to the Keys View. Joshua tree national park has so much more to offer!

Wheeler Dawn

Very beautiful park! Well maintained and friendly staff. Good signs and good roads. The Cholla Garden was pretty awesome!

Jonah Schlag

Great place to spend time at. Camping hiking or whatever it is fun to do. Just make sure that you bring lots of water and to respect the wild life. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to go for the weekend. Only downside is that it is kind of a far drive but it is worth it.

David Godemann

Most fantastic star show. Worth every drop of petro to get there and experience it..

Simone Sello

The Joshua Tree National Park is full of Californian energy; many things have been written about this popular place. Give yourself at least 5 hours to check out the big rocks, the hidden valley, the cholla gardens, the Cottonwood Springs oasis and several other attractions.

Dionne Fields

We are looking forward to visiting this amazing place on our next family vacation. The Joshua Tree National Park is one of the most beautiful places on earth for rock climbing. My youngest son has been practicing his rock climbing during his summer vacation. It’s his dream to plan a family vacation at the Joshua Tree National Park to go rock climbing with a beautiful view.

Brick Owens

A unique environ. Totally Dr. Seuss. The displays and signage was descriptive and nicely placed to be accessible. Roads were well maintained. Bring water and chap stick. The temps are bearable this time of year, 10.07.19. A much larger Joshua tree area is located at the Mohave National Preserve. However access and signage is better here.

Andrew Hartlove

Amazing rock formations full of desert life best visited during the cooler months.

Roy Madewell

Joshua Tree is always a wonderful escape for the flora, fauna, geology, and astronomy. Bring your walking shoes and a camera. Pair of binoculars or telescope and staying until night fall may change your place in the heavens.

Jordan S

Amazing place........ So Hot!!!!!! It was a breath taking adventure, next time I hope to camp out under the Stars

William Johnson

Fantastic national treasure! Many hiking trails and and an abundance of get exhibits and rock formations. Watch for wildlife! Highly recommend!

Raymond Ochs

Stunningly beautiful. Words cannot express how unreal and gorgeous this place is. Really didn't expect it to be so awesome. We drove all the way through from the west entrance to the south entrance - highly recommend that route as the best plants and rock formations are near the west gate but the views driving down the hill into the valley on the south are breathe taking.

Billy Randall

Seen it in the dark under the well lit sky by the bright evening moon. 1st vacation as an adult of 51 yrs old finally got a break. My cousin is a national state parks manger/worker/tour guide. We are going back to Mesa where I will pack my backs to get home for weatherization for Pennsylvania folks. So far it is an amazing place to pull over at a special off road parking & tune into the many calm peaceful evening sounds.

Katherine Broyles

Joshua tree is a unique place where you can see visually the difference between two types of desserts and see new and interesting rock formations. The drive through is peaceful and fun!

M Pierce

A true national treasure. It's easy enough to get out to, is extremely well maintained, and showcases on of the most unique and beautiful b area's of the USA I've ever seen. Bring water and a snack.

nathan gonzalez

Amazing nature at it's best. Great trails and camping areas, great vistas, lots of cool flora and fauna. It is HOT in July during the mid day, 11-5ish. It cools off rapidly at night, and after 5 it's in the low 70s, no humidity and breezy. Early morning is great too. Drink lots of water and you'll be fine.

Tony Schmidt

I think this park is a small gem. Especially during summer months parking and campsites fill up quickly. It's got places for horses, rock climbing, marked trails, and amazing viewing for stars.

Kabel Wallace

If people could just respect the outdoors it might be able to survive humanity without people defacing the rocks,

Brendan John

Drive right through the park (North to South), there's more to see past the turn-around point if you're entering from the North-end of the park. Beautiful park, with restrooms located throughout and good signage for points of interest. The roads are well maintained you could go of the paved road in some areas.

Gary Benites

I'll tell you how to experience Joshua Tree. Bring a lot of Gram Parson's music, lots of party favors, someone to snuggle with next to a fire, and proceed cleansing any thoughts of that cartoon character Donald Trump from your mind for just a few hours.

Chris Thomas

I totally enjoyed my day there. So much so that I wish I had more time. It's very hot but with plenty of water it is so much fun.

adithya manajigari

Amazing place for hiking with the family/friends and for photography. There are many Joshua trees, Don’t forget to Pick up a map at the visitor center and talk to a range. Big park with some really pretty spots, Definitely bring extra extra water as walking around for a minute will dry you up. Definitely go as early in the day as possible. If you’re planning in summer, best to enjoy hiking between 6am - 10am

Jaye Bell

The high desert is gorgeous. It's my favorite place to be. Come visit, but only come if you respect nature. I'm tired of people desecrating it.

Chris Newcomb

Joshua Tree, in the high desert, is an amazing place full of a lonely, stunning beauty. Cacti, yucca plants, and of course the strange and fantastic Joshua trees define the character of the park. There are many trails throughout the park, from easy to strenuous (always bring plenty of water!), and several camp sites. I drove down one of the dirt roads late at night to look at the stars -- an amazing experience away from City lights -- and saw pack rats and rabbits out foraging in the darkness, and a coyote padding softly after them. In the almost complete dark of a trail at midnight, I listened to a pack of coyotes howling together in the distance. I'm looking forward to coming back in the Spring, when tje landscape is covered in wildflowers.

Raili Calvert

Serene and beautiful. Stars at night are amazing

Brock Whittaker

Great detour on the way from San Diego to Vegas. Lovely open space to camp or just enjoy nature. Bring water, it can get hot.

Leslie Lathery

Very clean and respect park. Keep on keeping it beautiful. One of my all time favorite hikes back to 49 Palms Oasis.

Fran Deisler

Took one photo of a Joshua Tree knowing it wasn't going to come out but looking at the pics a few days later it looks a little creepy. The night sky is so beautiful from the park.

fabricio cabrera

Beautiful park and great trails! Full of adventure. Take plenty of water. I camped there for 2 night. The night sky will leave hunting for words to describe its beauty.

Frank Milky

Definitely a must-visit place in California. This place is surrounded by beautiful rocks and mountains. Nice place for a good drive. If you like hiking, this is a place for you! Lovely and open space. Highly recommended.

Kimber H

Always worth the drive. You will never regret the trip. The hiking and camping is easy and inexpensive. You need to bring water and a portable shower if your staying longer than few days. The milky way is amazing with a new moon. A trio you will never forget.

Dan Begley

Amazing place. Go during winter or early spring. Very primitive camping. Not necessarily great for non-adventurous types or those looking for amenities. Bring more water than you think you'll need.

Bhargav V A

Great place for star gazing. Avoid coming during day time in summer. When visiting the park plan to camp for a night. Watching a beautiful sky after a long trek is the perfect way to enjoy this place.

James Wan

Keep our National Parks beautiful everyone!! A gem of a place so close to Los Angeles, Joshua Tree National Park has a perfect protected ecosystem for these wonder trees named by the Morman people after their prophet.

Corky B Roll

First time to camp overnight. I had a very good experience. I never knew a desert could be so beautiful. The hiking to the dam was easy, safe, and everywhere you turn the environment is clean. No trash anywhere, no grafitty of any kind and although the sites where secluded it felt safe from animals and specially from humans. Everyone one there was friendly and respectful. The camp site at Jumbo Rock was very close to the bathrooms and besides the fire ring there was also a grill. We loved our hamburgers cooked on charcoal! The night was cold and VERY windy, I think it was 40 miles/hour. The night by the fire wasn't a pleasant because of the wind but the sky and the moon were majestic!! I highly recommend this place, just make sure to bring the correct equipment. I was there over night on late May. Make sure to make reservations in advance!

ESLITH

Such an amazing beautiful and awesome place to be with family or just by yourself it’s a very soothing place that you can admire the sunset and Be a witness to see when the night begins to fall and the desert

Steve Dibble

If you can get here when the weather is cool, there is so much to see and do. We came in from I10, and once you leave the Cottonwood Visitors Center, it's a bit of a drive before you get to any Joshua trees, but it's worth the drive! Get out of the car and walk when you can. Barker Dam is a nice, short hike.

Mike Dudley

Excellent clean and well managed park, with both clearly marked trails and family friendly trails posted. If visiting in August, best to enjoy hiking between 6am - 10am.

Melissa Pleasant

Joshua Tree National Park is an amazing place to visit, camp and explore. So many rocks to climb, secret places to find and ancient Indian petroglyphs will enchant you. It's a desert treasure that you will never forget.

SkrikerSamtian

Beautiful open area. The drive is really nice and there is quite a bit to look at. When we stopped at a visitor center they told us all the other centers had the same stuff. If you collect the passport stamps they didn't have any of the yearly sticker sheets. And one of the ladies working wasn't friendly, but the rest were.

Marlene Phillips

Interesting that there are no Joshua trees at the main part of this park, and never have been (it's the wrong climate). We didn't do much here except get our passport stamped; it was too hot. It would probably be a great place to visit in 6 months...

Victor Sanchez

Big Boulder type rock formations smooth granite rock! Fun to climb up on! Great views around every turn! Joshua trees are cool! It's different but awesome in it's own way,

Nellie Badillo

Peaceful and quiet. Enjoy just hiking or a small walk. Sometimes we like to take our lunch and go to the park and eat.

J. Smith

The park is beautiful in parts of it. Enjoy the rock formations very much & the Joshua trees but for no more than it is, OVER PRICED.

Shashwat Kadam

A national park which is not like what you can imagine. Not a place with beautiful forests, lakes and flowers but a desert which is beautiful in its own unique way. Beautiful hiking trails, gigantic rocks, various cacti, and of course the Joshua trees, all of these things adorn Joshua Tree National Park. Definitely worth visiting. P.S.: Carry a lot of water and stay protected from the sun. Temperature soars in summer. And some cacti are dangerous, so enjoy their beauty from certain distance.

W E

Great scenic hiking trails with out being over crowded. Good for trail runs just watch out for snakes.

Erick F

I was there October of 2018 and the weather was perfect. So scorching heat not freezing nights. Bring something to wash up. that's if you'll be staying more than 2 nights. Don't waste too much time in one single spot! so much to explore.

Liam Davis

Very unique habitat. I especially like to go during the meteor showers at night.

Nicole Montes

Awesome park. Pick up a map at the visitor center and talk to a ranger. Joshua trees are most abundant in one particular road, ask the ranger for help or you may miss them completely. Bring lots of water, they say to bring a gallon per person in case of emergency. It is easy to become dehydrated just by standing outside a couple of minutes. It is truly an awesome park but in order to enjoy it you must be prepared, pack a lunch, bring a cooler, a hat, shades, hiking shoes and just enjoy the beauty of the dessert.

Sam Sheffer

Fantastic place to visit. Recommend to take at least 2-3 days to take in all the sights. Wonderful trails and rock formations. This place should be on anyone's bucket list. Totally awesome, beautiful and natural. Campgrounds are available.

Casey Chapman

I had one of the most memorable days of my life here. We were able to explore during the day and at night we stayed in the basin to watch the sky light up with stars. I would highly recommend staying after dark to experience this. Please also make sure that you bring plenty of water, sunglasses, a hat, and some food. 10/10 would recommend to anyone going to the southern california area.

Robert Voce

This was a great experience and really enjoyed the many different Joshua Trees in the park. The north part of the park has the trees. The South part is empty of them.

Daniel White

This is an awesome park. We didn't have that much time unfortunately but we still had an incredible experience hiking. We even saw some horned animals which was the cherry on top.

Heather Johnson

My three kids and I visited Joshua Tree on a family vacation. What an amazing experience! We hiked the Hidden Valley trail. We would have loved to hike more but little legs! All the plants and ecosystems are amazing. I hope the Joshua trees do not eventually disappear. I would definitely go back.

alma salinas

This place is best at night when there is no moon and all you can see is the stars! Keys View is great to watch the sunset over the valley. The trails and climbing rock formations are breath taking. Make sure to be prepared with snacks, food, and water since the sun can be hot! The off roading trails are great and worth a days adventure! You can hike, off road, or even view the park from within your car!

Joseph Schachtele

Very interesting desert park filled with Joshua trees and unusual rock formations. Four to five hours plenty unless you are hiking or camping.

X Pan

Great park for day trips, It always have loudless blue sky, great for photos and finding stars at night,

Alice K

Amazing place. Go during winter or early spring. Very primitive camping. Not necessarily great for non-adventurous types or those looking for amenities. Bring more water than you think you'll need.

Melody Zavala

Very nice. Its pretty windy, while I was over there the winds were 50mph. Overall its very beautiful and reminds me of old western towns and movies

Gloria Huhn

Lovely drive with so much to see! The mountains, huge jagged red rock piles next to huge smoothly rounded white boulders and unusual vegetation is so interesting and thought provoking... this national park is definitely one to be visited.

John Kinch

Beautiful park, really hot during the day in summer (duh). Bring plenty of water and don't overly exert yourself. Definitely go for a sunrise and a sunset. If going during the summer I suggest hiking early morning and in the evening/night. The stars are amazing if it's a clear night, extremely minimal light pollution.

William Drennan

This is a beautiful park in the high desert with plenty of trails to walk and lots of different plant life indigenous to the area. Kids can climb some rocks and are relatively safe if they are careful.

Michael Barto

Such a beautiful and mysterious place. I highly recommend staying after dark to stargaze but also appreciate the spooky beauty of the desert at night

Grant Cox

Absolutely outstanding. Beautiful country side. The landscape and rock formations were unforgettable.

Michael Halbert

It is the most boring, put-you-to-sleep-while-driving trip you'll ever take. Calling the highway through here a "scenic road" must be a joke of some kind. In fact, the only reason I drove through here was to get to a dance competition that my sister went to with her dance studio. The competition was in Las Vegas, so the road through here was the fastest way and now I know why.

Craig Sherman

Was not expecting much but this park was really good for hikes and views. Would suggest a cooler time of the year or early morning / late evening hikes in the summer.

Rakesh Mishra

Great park. Visit the park before Joshua trees are gone. Don’t go in without water , you can die in dehydration.

Josh Greenberg

A must-see place in California. Do not miss the sunset in the cactus garden. This place is a good adventure spot and a place for hiking also. I would recommend everyone this National park. If you want to spend a peaceful day far away from crowd, this is the perfect place for you.

Michael Leffel

There are reasons albums, songs and movies have been inspired by this place! Go forth and wxplore nature (in the winter and bring alot of water).

Michelle Ruby

I went camping here and it changed my life. I got a deeper connection to nature and the park rangers were so friendly

Rafael Contreras

Please do yourself a favor and visit at least once in your life. The landscape is serene and the park is like a sanctuary. I drove through as the sun started to set and the images I saw were truly some of the most beautiful and picturesque. There’s no service in the park so please make sure you bring snacks water and enough gas to last you (better be safe than sorry.) The local town was fun to visit and very quirky. Next time I visit I will want to go star gazing in the park I’m sure it’s magical. Unfortunately I’ve read Joshua Trees are something threatened by climate change (google them they are very interesting!) Something to contemplate as you take in the scenery when you visit. We can do better.

How can you rate a dessert? If you don't like dry sandy valleys with no cell service, bathrooms and coffee shops- obviously don't come here. If you've never been to a desert, like me- it's a bucket list trip to a different world! It's part Mojave desert and part Colorado desert, so bring plenty of water, don't do stupid things and enjoy!

I love coming here. You'll definitely see a lot of people who also appreciate the surroundings.

You feel like you've left Earth. You also feel very far away from civilization, which you are in a way. I really enjoyed the contrast of JTNP vs other more habitable environments of California.

Allaura B

I think the photos speak for themselves. You will love this place much more than you think. I thpught I was coming to see some unique trees, but really it was something special.

Deena Eckel

Incredibly magical. Climbing is great. Wildlife is present. Very informative National Park building. Best merch I’ve seen for a park as well. A California must see.

William Brown

This place is kind of magical in its own way you could see why YouTube Papa's place

Rick Fernandez

What can I say about California dessert, just beautiful and picturistic like no other. A must see

This special park with beautiful small trees is very worth a visit. And its not crowded at all. You can make your walking treks without seeing any people. There are also small peaceful camping sites

Joshua trees are endemic to this part of America and a strip of Mexico. It's a species that's on the verge of extinction. So try and make some time for this. It's an easy access national park; the trails are walks on flat lands, a tinyyy bit of hiking is there though! Bouldering would be fun here!

Karen Orzikowski

Beautiful, almost otherworldly place. I only wish visitors would be more respectful to the guidelines and stay on the paths, so the next generation can enjoy this as well.

Somesh Sakriya

Amazing experience! Best experienced on the new moon! And bring your binoculars or telescope for even better night sky experience..

Cherise Pacholik

This was my second trip to Joshua tree in the last 20 years, but I loved it so much these two days in March, that I bought the year pass for the national parks. There are many trails that you can hike, for all different abilities. I certainly hope to visit a few more times this year.

Big park with some really pretty spots. Definitely bring extra extra water as walking around for a minute will dry you up. It is after all a desert.. some of the trees are really big and pretty. Some cool rock formations. Skull rock was interesting. Definitely go as early in the day as possible.

pradyumna ingle

There’s nothing different that I can share about this place. It’s as beautiful as you have heard and read. If you are into Rock climbing or star gazing, I think this is a good place.

Fernanda Quintiliano

It's ok... Better to visit winter time... Summer is extremely hot you cannot enjoy much.

Elisabeth Barrett

Must drive through it you can or it's on the way. The Joshua trees dont come up until about midway through ..but they're worth the wait!

Leo Messi

Its pretty good place. You can hang out with your friends and other people. Overall, pretty cool place.

Nancy Acey

It's definitely different from other parks...mostly desert. I was amazed at all the smooth rock formations, and loved the Joshua Tree, which is really a yucca!

Dave Anthony

If you're considering Joshua Tree for a hike, forget it! Maybe it works as a great campsite if you'll be lodging for a couple days, but paying $30 or more to go into a park just to see Joshua Trees which are just as plentiful outside the park is a joke.

Lee Jarvis-Werbenjaegerman

Beautiful national park with ample hiking trails, picnic tables, and locations for pictures! You MUST bring water (even if you don't think you need it) and beware of snakes!

Barb Das

Beautiful shaped rocks! Very unusual scenery! Great for hiking. Very reasonable entrance fee. Buy senior State park pass. Good for all State parks.

Jim Waters

Been here several times, in the car and on my Harley. Never disappointed to say the least. Bring extra water! Can get pretty hot at times. Great scenic views and lookouts.

Cheri Ryan

Hey national park lovers, I know we've all seen trashed public spaces and, yes, I cleaned this up and I know there are lots of you out there doing the same thing. So cheers!
