REVIEWS OF Death Valley National Park IN California

Really a once in a lifetime experience. It is one thing to read and see pictures of the place but once you experience the vastness and the harshness of the place it is really surreal. It is really a humbling experience to witness the amazing creation of nature ranging from vast salt beds to beautiful sand dunes.

Anastasiia Kirilik

Great park! Lots to see. Deffinitey take plenty of water. And take water to wash face and hands cause of dust! If u want to see traveling rocks - u gotta come in a jeep and keep in mind it is still 3hrs deive fromvisitors center;)

YOUEL S

One of the best place I have visited so far. Amazing views of area. Great for site seeing and motorcycle ride. It was 114 degrees when we went in late June 2018. But going up to the top it dropped by 20-30 degrees. It's amazing bring a lot of water with you. Don't make the mistake of being there without water.

Shyam Katru

We made this as a day trip from Vegas. It was a lof of driving but enjoyed seeing the place. Landscapes are very unique. Salt flats are a lot of fun for photography. People cast long uninterrupted shadows in morning and evening.

Ravneet Kaur

The park is breathtakingly beautiful. Diverse landscapes in the park. Sunrise and sunset was spectacular. February was the best time to visit because it gets pretty hot during the summer.

Jones Dixon

Awesome national park, first of all it's enormous and every turn you take there is something new Some interesting and odd sights to see! 5 days ago I am a person that doesn’t handle heat very well but I ended up loving the National park.

Robin Schallot

I visited in May and got really lucky with some great weather (70's). We didn't have time to hike, unfortunately. However, we drove and stopped as t pretty much all the scenic points. This park is so beautiful. I was not expecting it and was blown away. Definitely an experience everyone should have.

Nishant Thombre

It's toooooo hot but to awesome . Drink plenty of water be prepared for 110+ temp. And have a fun

Sarah Cameron Lerer

What can you say except hottest spot in the US of A? Lowest and hottest. But the stark beauty of it is really something. I also really liked the vistas south from it through San Bernardino County. Makes you realize what an incredibly diverse state California is. Had a super, really good meal at the Furnace Creek Inn.

Martin Šiška

I have been just driving through, but this dreamy place will despite of that stay long in my memory.

Chris Johnson

Bring a big hat and sunglasses! It's bright! Walk out as far as you can go. It's a really cool experience!

Robert Hale

Great adventure. Loved everything about it. A must see if your in the area.

Wizards in the Mist

Nice place with gorgeous views! We went in the winter so it wasn’t hot and it even sprinkled one of the days! Unique landscape such as Joshua trees nearby. Highly recommended.

Marco Zender

So far so good. Nice day trip from Las Vegas.

Michael Paff

Beautiful. One of the best vacations I ever had. Unexpected beauty. My wife thought it was a crazy destinations but she was just as amazed as I was. Hope to return.

Nicola Curry

Beautiful place to visit if not off the beaten track a little! It's extremely hot and dry so be prepared but I really enjoyed visiting death valley it's one of those places you cant explain fully until you have been. The words calm and relaxing come mind when I think of this place

Mark Boyer

Beautiful area. Take your time to enjoy this large National Park.

Gary Downsborough

Well worth a visit. Did not expect to be able to see mountains with snow on them from within the park. A dry heat when we were there so felt quite comfortable walking. Some incredible mountains and gullys to explore.

Pollyanna B.

Beautiful desert landscape, and not overclouded by tourists! We got to experience 124F - it was an amazing experience!

Brandon Evans

This place is crazy big. So much to see and even a cool little hotel resort area in the middle with a general store in post office in a place to stay. So many different terrains. Bring your SUV or truck and have a very good time for the day. Make sure to bring lots of water

kevin pfister

Came late in the day but drove the east side of the park. I actually paid the $30 for the pass but felt like I should have at least gotten a map. It’s an amazing place and some of the smaller departures from the main road are beautiful. Will definitely return with a full day and a full tank of gas.

nausher din

I loved my time in Death Valley. Do make sure to carry water and have a full tank (gas). Also try to carry some snacks as there is nothing in the park. Do visit the natural bridge and Badwater Basin. Also try to take as many inroads as you can. They are really good.

sunday skinner

If you like being very very hot a good place to visit it just a long long drive

DOREMON REVOLUTION

Very nice and open place for playing awesome place opened everyone .everyone should come in this playground and play some games or run because by playing and running our health becomes good.so please come and play for your health. Because health is wealth. Today children only play games in mobile like pubg but they were not playing in an outdoor games

kingslayer

Absolutely loved this place! Yes it is extremely hot but so many cool and interesting things to see. Highly recommend checking it out!

Valeria Miller

Not too much out there HOT in the Summer Winter is the time to go exploring

donna locher

Ranger very helpful suggesting hikes for our fitness level & times of day with maps. Worth timw. Clean bathrooms.

jules inwonderland

Gorgeous picturesque sights! Interesting rock formations and other fascinating things this park offers. Can't see it all in one trip, but I will be back! Please come with lots of water to hydrate, snacks and proper attire to hike and protect yourself from the sun.

Jason Davis

This place was actually really cool as I originally thought it was going to be just hot and boring. No doubt it was hot but it was cool to learn about it's history and see the vast landscape in person

Country Boy

Wow this is a amazing place. I had to experience it for myself and boy did i. You better have a vehicle that can with stand 120° temps and good tires and extra good brakes because there is a lot of longgggg hills. I liked experiencing it once for myself. Fun time, really liked it. If my review helps you in any way can you PLEASE leave me a thumbs up like on my review. Thank you.

Samim Safi

You have to go to Artist Point. Try going in the winter. Less crowds and great weather

Rob Combs

So unlike anywhere else in the US (the world?). Very cool to see how different it is and all the variances in different parts of the park.

Štefan Potocky

Amazing place. if you like to drive there, you will definitely come here - enjoy roads. You have to do the hikes early in the morning, then it's warm. the view from the top is breathtaking. Prices in restaurants are higher as well as accommodation.

Roderick Fisher

Do not run your vehicle a/c or you may regret it!!

Patricia McGrath

This was one of the most spectacular places I've ever been. The heat was brutal in the basin but the scenery was so worth it. Do yourself a favor and speak to the rangers upon arrival. They are a tremendous resource and really helped us fine tune our visit. I hope I can go back to explore more of this area.

steve

Beautiful place to visit in early spring or during the winter. Don't recommend going there during the summer, their a reason they call it death valley. It's one of the hottest places on Earth.

Patrick Murphy

Amazing landscape. Campgrounds and services need to stay in hands of the park service. Nature needs to return to camping. More space between spots, no parking lot campgrounds. Elect a Congress willing to use our tax dollars to protect our public lands and wildlife, provide services, and set aside more lands.

Neva Bentley

Death Valley was unexpectedly awesome. You truly feel as if you’re on a different planet. There is such a vast variety of scenery and so many interesting stops in the park. It’s confusingly hot but it really is pretty tolerable if you bring enough water. We pretty much had the park to ourselves and so glad we went.

mats johansson

First of all you need to love nature or at least to look at new things, if you do that you will awstruck by the amazing views of this harsh landscape, it is by far the most alien landscape I have seen on this trip, well worth the horrible heat =)

Miles Linde

A fantastic collection of bizarre geological elements including sand dunes, canyons, the least point in north America, sailing stones, and salt formations. Best to visit in the winter or spring before the average temperature is unbearable. Many of the roads are extremely rough, even if they are not technically off road. Definitely worth a visit!

Fran Parsons

An interesting place to stay. Accommodation was excellent. The trading post has great eating, large range of souvenirs. If you are visiting tourist attractions make sure you are dressed appropriately and carry a lot of water.

Danielle Pearce

Been going to death valley since I was 10 years old and that was a long time ago. I got to hear the music player at Scotty's Castle. Death Valley is not for everyone, but for a rugged outdoor adventure, it's a place of history and extremes. It can be very warm during the day and very cold at night. Of special note is the staff here has always been awesome.

Rob

A breathtaking and incredible park of epic proportions. This is my second time here and the experience never gets old. It is amazing to think that millions of years ago this whole place was under water. Incredible to experience.

Michał Marciniec

Amazing. Worth to be there early in the morning. Later it gets „quite” hot, especially in the summer. However, it’s not that bad as people tend to say. You just need a car with air conditioning and it’ll be okay, even in August.

Craig Ramos-Stovin

One of the most amazing places we visited on our road trip ... once in a lifetime and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We went peak month so temperature was crazy but what an experience. It almost felt like we weren't on this earth anymore. If you're debating whether to include it on your trip you simply have to experience it but just make sure you have a modern car and lots of water as you will definitely need it.

Kristina Cooper

Very big park to explore. Lots of varying geography and beautiful. Good hiking. Stop at Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells for supplies and food and souvenirs. Wonderful place to visit. Support your national park!

R. Hiram Houck

Death Valley is very large but somewhat boring compared to other national parks. If you like forest, lakes, and green, then Death Valley is not for you. However since most national parks have all that, Death Valley provides a unique look that you won't get anywhere else, just in case you get tired of forest, lakes, and green scenery.

beth flowers

Large and hot! Desert with little variety of vegetation, mountains, dry lake beds. Amazing but my interest ran out before my husband's.

Duong Than

It's a breath taking place! Everyone should visit it to experience very different vibes of the nature!

yunus emre demir

Too hot and too dusty. Actually it's just a desert, yes there are somethings to worth to see but not incredible. Don't forget your sunglasses and sunscreen.

Alan Hendren

Amazing place. Very hot breaks over heated had to pull over for a bit. Beautiful place to see sun rise and fall. Bring water if you come this way. Long drive.

Claire O'Gorman

Beautiful place to visit we hit 131°f on our trip..... do NOT use the toilets they are truly the most disgusting iv ever seen!

Paulina_Vex

Fantastic place and worth to visit. The Bad Water is very nice place to take a walk, especially during the sunset. And there are toilets. Can you imagine that? Toilets in the desert... :D very nice surprise. The views are just amazing and be aware of drinking much water when you're there.

Uwe Albrecht

The name itself represents what Death Valley stands for. It's undoubtedly one of the most impressive places that you will discover when you travel from state park to state park. Expect very high temperature and a nature that couldn't be more different. It's quite worth the time to get there. Enjoy your trip.

Me, Myself, & I

Desolate splendor, great views, nice rangers. Good exhibits.

Pierrette Sahlani

Loved it. The power of nature of incredible

Emily Crow

Such an amazing place. Definitely add it to your bucket list. Take plenty of water and snacks. It's a drive to get anywhere for resources. Keep a lookout for crazy people on religious quests.

Andrew Andreae

Exceeded my expectations by far! My thoughts: Favorite things: -Walk out into badwater basin in the morning before it’s too hot. The salt flats are surreal, and make you feel like your are on another planet. -Dante’s view has an incredible panorama of the valley. Much cooler as well as it’s above 4000 feet. -Go out into the Mesquite Flats sand dunes. Recommend both during the day and at night. At night, you can walk along the dune ridges with bare feed, enjoy a cool beverage of your choice under the stars, and lie in the sand in the cool desert night. During the day, it feels like you are in the Sahara. Cool spot as Star Wars episode 4 was filmed here. Things to know: -gas in Death Valley is super expensive. Fill up before you arrive -travel with lots of extra water -lodging options are expensive and not cheap. Worth staying at least one night though as it’s impossible to experience in a half day.

Michael Manning

Was there a few days ago. Awesome place to visit. Wish there was more of a visitor center. Or more than just a gas station. I think this place would do much better if they expanded park operations. As there is so much to learn about the place.

Quin

Amazing place to be despite the 52c temperature. Great landscape and an absolute must see if you’re travelling past this national park.

Chris Geary

Great sights to see, does get HOT. Bring lots of water! Some parts you can just drive through and look at the beautiful mountains and such, and some are hiking trails. Lots of scenery here!

David lucas

Great drive. Very dramatic. Gets very hot. Our car said 124f. Drive carefully and you may need to turn aircon off as car can overheat.

Annett Harvey

Absolutely loved this place! Yes it is extremely hot but so many cool and interesting things to see. Highly recommend checking it out!

Kerri Mulrooney

Favorite place ever aside from Cape Spear! There is something special about Death Valley and it's difficult to put into words. But its just such a great place to explore!!

Venkat Atmaram Balakuntala Srinivasa Murthy

Once list on life time. Should go on no moon day for star gazing. Had multiple spots. Good long weekend get away in fall and spring. Beautiful landscapes scenaries and pleasant drive. Dante's veiw, artist pallet, canyons and best of all star gazing at night

Barkerino

A Totally unique place and must see. Not called Death Valley for no reason so take plenty of provisions and fuel. And what better way than getting from Vegas to Yosemite.

Balaji Mohan

One of my go to place for weekend getaway. This time it was Sooper hot still it's an amazing place with fascinating views and landscapes. Anybody visiting California should visit this place to experience a great landscapes.

Mai Divine Life

It was beautiful. Crazy hot but we came at the right time. There is also a little town here. Next time we'll come back to stay at this beautiful resort inn. There's also a golf course and ice creamery that was delicious.

Katherine Broyles

This may be one of the most underrated national parks. It is incredible how varying the landscape is from the volcanic rocks, to the dunes to Zabrinskies point. I want to go again!

Linda Fender

Love this place. It's one of the reasons we moved here. There's so much to experience. You can't see an do everything in 1 day or even several days. Get out of your cars an take in the natural beauty of this place.

Larry Jacobsen

The entry fee to the park is $30.00. If you are going just to drive through and stop at the gift shops, plan on about 4 hours. It's obvious that in the summer it is extremely hot, so bring a gallon of water per person, if you plan on any short hikes!

M. P

The visitor center is the place to go if you're visiting Death Valley. The rangers there are super nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. They do show a 20 min movie about the history of Death Valley. The other sure of the center is a small museum. Very fun and interactive place. Best of all, it has AC!

J.w. Allman

National Parks are always beautiful. Death Valley displays some of the most colorful volcanic terrains in America. Truly, a geological mind blowing adventure. - take extreme caution when visiting areas with extreme temperatures. Death Valley is quite warm. You will need plenty of water.

Cliford Stephens

Good destination for running, enjoying time and get a grab of clean air. Remarkable park, packed of life, as well as everyone are making the most of it at all hours every day.

Jay Leon

Its hot as heck out here, feels like a sauna with a huge hairdryer blowing at ya from a side. But its an amazing place to visit, enjoy varied scenery and escape some of the crowds as this place has some very empty roads with miles of views all around. Make sure tu bring plenty of water and don't crank your AC too hard if you have an older car...it will take a while in the heat to get you if you need a tow.

Michael Brugger

Make sure you plan your route for efficiency. At sea level this is amazing to see what nature has done over the years. This is a whole day trip and bring lots of water. We drove from Las Vegas and was 90 minutes and you can go in the south and out of the North. Some area's do not have internet or cell coverage so keep that in mind.

John

Unbelievably beautiful views. But the heat is no joke. We're talking 120

Andrew Taylor

Huge park. Hottest place on earth, lowest place in North America and the driest place in the United States. Lots of different things to see. Nice visitor center.

Stephen Zahradnik

Best place to see in the winter. In the summer it is 118 degrees. If you come for the race track, moving rocks, you are not going to see it without puncture proof tires and high clearance. Best to stick to Scotty's Castle, Badwater Basin, and the Devil's golf course. Note. In the summer, keep your air conditioning off or your car may overheat!

Michael Corbett

I loved my time in Death Valley. Do make sure to carry water and have a full tank (gas). Also try to carry some snacks as there is nothing in the park.

Frank Moore

There is so much to see here. Fill the tank up before traveling into the valley and enjoy all the geological history of death valley. You need a couple days to really see the whole valley. We ate at furnace creek. There is a restaurant bar store combination. Best apple pie I've had in years.

Braden Woods

Very beautiful and amazing place.. bring lots of water, salty snacks, and some respect for the heat and you will have a great time!! Highly recommended!!!

Gary Bissett

Absolutely stunning national park. Insanely hot but 100% worth going to. Only down side to this place is the toilets. They are almost without doubt the worst I've ever been to.

Rick Muras

An impressice valley with incredible heat. But it's made very lovely with some small stores and options for food and drinks. Additionally, the visitor center has a small museum / exhibition where you can learn a lot about the valley, the nature and the history. That was really interesting and didn't feel like a 3 hour museum trip! Can totally recommend!

L brian

This park open 24/7 So , Start your exploration early at 6a.m at least. If you can not do it in the early morning, then do it after 5p.m.

Ivan Tchesnokov

Extremely interesting, cool place. A must cost for everyone. But beware it is truly very hot!!!!! Sleeping is extremely difficult as temps at night can be 90. Agian please visit this amazing park.

Marcin Seferyn

It was very hot. There are beutiful views

Lucas Dow

Would normally complain If a place was too hot but when visiting death valley, warmth is what you'd expect. It is breathtaking watching and visiting different places in the valley. Very enjoyable experience.

Frank Milky

It is a huge park! There is a lots of various different beautiful and geographical places to explore. I would suggest you to have a vehicle of your own so that you can explore this whole place without worrying about time. Great place!

Lindsey Marie Blair

An incredibly diverse geological wonder! Set aside the time to spend multiple days exploring the area is possible. From landscapes carved by flash floods to a stunning backdrop of a snow capped Pilot Mountain, breathtaking views are everywhere. Watch out on the salt flats, the distance can be very deceptive.

Charles Brillantes

Great place for adventure! We go here to test our vehicles in the extreme summer heat, the brutal Towne Pass route to Stovepipe Wells is a 20+ mile uphill drive and ultimate stress test for our cars. We recommend bringing your own food here since there is not much choices and cell phone coverage is spotty in most areas, and bring alot of water!

邱梦玲

Definitely one of the most beautiful sights. Love sand dunes, I think the best time to visit sand dunes is late afternoon. The further you go the less food print will be. Great place to take pictures.

jenni Gilda-hardte

enjoyed the amount of ample trees more than enough to satisfy my needs. trail mix was a bit bland today. will come again one day. ground too dirty

Maggie Mynier

Beautiful park. Very very very hot

Char Xxxxx

If you're traveling southern Nevada and Southern California. This is worth adding to your trip. It's only 3 hours within Mammoth Lakes California. And Sequoia Park in California.

AJ Creek

It's definitely a place to visit... for a short time. It's called "Death Valley" for a reason. Go early in the morning, take water, and don't go without a FULL tank of gas.

Audra Dexter

Of all the National Parks I’ve been to, Death Valley is the most underrated. Absolutely gorgeous! It’s jaw dropping and unique. Must see on any road trip or vacation!

Angelina Ivaskevicius

I looked at this photo yeah and I cannot believe how suffocating this place looks. It is hotter and drier than Egypt itself. Apparently a lot of people has car accidents, isn't this the place from San Andreas movie? I am judging by looks and reviews. Listen here, you need water to refresh this place otherwise it looks like Buffalo Bill lived here

Bill Pierce

There are so many interesting places and things to see. You need at least 2 days there. We will be returning when the temps are a bit cooler.

Dawn Niday

Death Valley is one of my favorite national parks! I bring a group of friends out once a year to ride bikes. The cycling is amazing and I love watching people see the park for the first time. It is beyond beautiful with something surprising to see at every turn.

Konrad Wasielewski

Amazing , breathtaking place! Well organized shuttle buses, diverse trails. A must see in the US!

Chelleigh Cuddy

Death Valley is a beautiful journey to take via automobile. You can stop and check out beautiful sites all day long. You could probably do this for days if you have the time.

Blair Wright

Awesome national park, first of all it's enormous and every turn you take there is something new. This place takes days to explore, I recommend trying the dunes or the salt flats first, the painted hills are also cool. Be ready for some extreme heat, it gets well over 110 in the summer and it can be over 120 at times so bring lots of water and a hat that provides good protection. Also, if you plan to explore a lot fill up before you enter the park, the gas you can buy close to the park can get extremely expensive.

websync

Amazing place, so hot 46-48 ° C, but still super cool to visit and really accessible to car travels

keren kurlander

Beautiful to see, way too hot. We stayed 1 full day and it was more than enough to see the major highlights

Jennifer Greenslit

Stunning! Such beautiful landscapes here. There was some rain the day we visited, so unfortunately the road to the lowest point was closed because of debris in the road. We were pulling an Airstream and some of the downhills were INTENSE. We started to smell the brakes, but they were ok.

Cedric de Rosso

Amazing place, was incredible we had snow in the mountains, close to Dead Valley and you have 102°f there. You need to take careful to have water if you go walking far away, you can read recommendations on signs, great to know.

Priyank Gajera

Beautiful National Park with all points to see are different. Its also very different and unique experience than any other place you see. I was avoiding to go there but its really worth going as its really beautiful. I would give more points to this location compared to Grand Canyon due to the unique points and experience.

Antoine B.

Must see for anyone coming to the area. Amazing landscapes and incredible heat... Be well prepared, though

Forrest Jackson

I love this park more than any other, but it's suffering from "upgrades" by the national park service and my last visit saw all but one campground closed (the RV campground- I was tent camping), the Artist's Pallet closed, and north to south highway paving underway... I'll have to start going when it's 130 degrees out, it seems...

Megan Webb

Wish we could have actually seen more of the park. All we could really do was drive through. Most everything was closed off and the entire park seemed to be running off very minimal staff. Saw one Ranger the entire time. Heat was also a major factor of not getting to see much. 115°F makes things very difficult. Even the campsites were all completely closed and the visitors center.

Zhiheng Cao

A getaway is a place that is radically different environment than your everyday environment. This place fits the bill. Only because it is so hot in the valley, that you feel heavenly when you drive up to Dante's View or Telescope Peak. Only because it is so hot and dry that after you swim in the outdoor swimming pool at the lodge it feels so good. Probably #2 my favorite national park.

Hilary Vernon

Beautiful park but incredibly hot. Be prepared to experience it from your car during the summer rather than on foot. The official park newsletter had some great ideas for one day itinerarys.

Sayantan Mukhopadhyay

Death Valley is undoubtedly one of the most versatile and mesmarizing landscape on the planet. The wild unforgiving but enticing valley is a great refuge for campers, bikers, adventure seekers. It's a once in a lifetime experience for sure.

George & Linda Preeter

I am a person that doesn’t handle heat very well but I ended up loving the National park. Yes it is very hot so please bring a lot of water, comfortable shoes and have enough gas in the tank at all times. The attractions are pretty close to each other and the different landscapes are amazing, from the sandy dunes to a salt basin, this is such a unique park and worth the trip. We took a day trip from Las Vegas and managed to visit all our must sees and make it back to Vegas not too late.

David Dick

I always thought it was just a flat desert. So much fun driving over the mountain to get in from LA and seeing the spectacular sites! Artists drive and devil's golf course are a must, especially if your trip is short.

Dávid Kovács

Great and huge national park. One of the hottest and lowest places on earth. Every place we've visited was cool and crazily hot at the same time. :D

Andy Goh

Lots of different things to see all in one park. Definitely worth a visit or drive through. Be prepared for the summer heat though!

Michele Kane

Death Valley National Park is the hottest place in the United Sates. If you plan on doing any hiking you'll have to do it before the sun rises. This park will for most people be a drive through and enjoy the vistas experience. When driving it is important to keep your windows rolled down and your a/c off or your car could over heat. Although this park is hot and you can't explore by foot too much it really is a sight to see.

Ian Macree

Truly stunning....a must for everyone...but beware make sure you have plenty of fuel and water because you do not want to break down or run out of fuel here..... Halfway through there is furnace Creek....(aptly named) where there are two hotels...the ranch which is for families or the Inn which is a lot more up market.... treat yourself and stay at the Inn....it is really beautiful....

Dwayne Byrom

Hot hot hot but very dramatic get ready for a lot of turns to get there and out again. Glad I was not dragging the trailer

Bruce Shark

Excellent and interesting, Death Valley never disappoints... Make sure you have water with you, no matter where you go inside the large park, even if you take a short hike, bring water. Beautiful desert....lots to see.

Jon Matlock

This place is barren, hot, empty, slightly confusing, difficult to get in and out of, and all of that makes it pretty awesome. It was definitely worth the detour to say that we’ve done it. We even got hats and shirts to commemorate our experience! I’m not sure I would go back, but I’m glad to say that I’ve been.

Deepan Sandhu

Beautiful, mesmerising, out of this world. So happy we went

Craig Sherman

Just passing thru on our way home. Death Valley NP is a really great place to see but the temperature in the summer is too much. Come during the winter.

Rob Bento

This park is by far one of the most fascinating National Parks I've been to. There are so many different locations to visit here. Between mosaic canyon and bad water basin alone, you definitely have to spend multiple days here. Going to the lowest part in North America is just...unreal. It is incredibly hot, so make sure to stay hydrated. When I went, I had a small cooler with bottled water to ensure everyone I was with stayed hydrated as well. Be mindful of the temperature not just outside, but how hot the car can get as well. There's a small restaurant near the park as well that offers some great food and drinks to keep you going throughout the day. I've sadly only been to the park twice, but I can't wait to go back. Death Valley is only about an hour and a half drive from Vegas, so if you use that as your "hub," you can get a cheap hotel stay there with some amazing views not too far away. tl;dr - go to Death Valley. It is an amazing place that everyone should experience.

Lee Snell

Visited this week. The temperature was 121. We packed a gallon of water per person. Use common sense and pace yourself. The views are extraordinary!

Panglos

OK, it's dry, it's hot, it's also magnificent. Lots of sites to explore if you don't mind a bit of driving. Take a hat, camera and plenty of fluids. Then take your time (and do some research beforehand).

Matt Terry

Spent a couple of days exploring the park. Some interesting and odd sights to see! Recommend walking out to the middle of Badwater Basin - the sunsets are epic!

Cody Haviland

Way more gorgeous than I expected. Very pretty scenery. Nice stops along the way. Bring plenty of water and reliable transportation. And a camera.

Charles Carroll

An amazing national park. We have been here 7 times and we always seeing something new. Never ceases to thrill. If you have the chance to stay till after dark you will be astonished at all of the stars that you will see.

Patricia Concannon

Death Valley National Park is by far my favorite place to visit when we travel west. Living in Florida we don't get to see many mountains. I love the colors and wide open spaces. I love the way the park gives me a feeling of peace.

Scarf Yohanson

For anybody who is contemplating about going to visit the U . S . national parks, this is a very good location to come explore!

Brandon Iwamoto

Park rangers forgot to turn off the heater; 104 degrees is a rough hike even with plenty of water. My favorite park by far. definitely want to go again in the winter

Scot Bradon

Unbelievable surroundings in addition to a animal happenings. Outdoor camping turned out to be a tremendous experiences.

Murillo Aragón

Awesome national park, first of all it's enormous and every turn you take there is something new. This place takes days to explore, I recommend trying the dunes or the salt flats first, the painted hills are also cool. Be ready for some extreme heat, it gets well over 110 in the summer and it can be over 120 at times so bring lots of water and a hat that provides good protection. Also, if you plan to explore a lot fill up before you enter the park, the gas you can buy close to the park can get extremely expensive.

jayant sarkar

I love Death Valley. It truly relates to quote "It's about journey, not destination." The roads, scenic routes are awesome. Can go again any day.

Eric Eckmann

Do NOT travel to Death Valley in August!! I wanted to travel to Death Valley to get a feel for how hot and uncomfortable early settlers would have experienced the valley. What I was not ready for was just how deadly Death Valley could be. The day I was there the temperature hit 125 degrees F. I was so concerned that the car might fail and I would not be able to survive the heat. Two people did die form heat stroke the week I was there. During my stay in Death Valley I did not see any sort of safety personnel making the rounds looking for auto in trouble. You are truly on your own. Death Valley in August is not safe for travel in my opinion and I would highly recommend not going during the summer months.

Once again I explore some new corner of this National Park. I was not disappointed. The Artists Pallet loop drive had some stunningly beautiful naturally colored and displayed desert mountainsides. Starkly stunning....

Such a cool place! But don't go in the summertime if you can avoid it

Clean park area. Beautiful sand dunes. Do not take your dogs, the heat came up through the soles of my shoes!

It's a very different experience. Good for two days at max. Everything is accessible by car and I would recommend to wake up early morning to catch sunrise and later catch sunset at various places. Many people visit golden canyon for stargazing at night where you can see the whole milky way very clearly as there is very little light pollution from Vegas

One of the must see parks in USA. Though the tern is scary and is better called Desert Valley National Park, it is safe to visit. Just take a few common sense precautions. Plenty of water to start with and stay on paved roads for newbies.

Amazing! So much more than just hot! One of the most incredible places I've ever been...truly a soul scrubbing marvel

It is a good place for hiking. you should not visit this in summer season because it will so hot. you will get a awesome view if you climb till the top.

Wow! Stunning and surreal landscape, tons of geological features. Epic panoramas. Photos don't do it justice. It was 111 degrees Fahrenheit at 5pm when we left the Visitor Center. I really wish we had more time to hike and even drive through more of the park. The surrounding areas are also culturally and historically significant, so something for everyone to enjoy (also, stay for the stars at night- it's certified by the International Dark-Sky Association!). Love that you travel from 5k+ feet to below sea level. We'll definitely come back!

Great Park. S to visit in the winter time. Visit some of the viewpoint and spend at least a day if you can. I like the drive from Los Angeles not quite as bad from Las Vegas

If you are here definitely visit the lowest point !! It's crowded but it is still fun and astonishing to be at the lowest point. They have sand dunes and at night if you are camping you can see different stars so I'll highly recommend to take binoculars or telescope to see some planets or galaxies. It's pretty fun both day and night. Make sure you carry plenty of water as it might get hot during day but nights are cool.

Amazing emptiness. Nice facilities at Furnace Creek Visitor Center. Helpful staff.

Need to read up on the geology of the area to truly appreciate it, couldn't find a draft beer anywhere and the 6 packs started at $18.

Stephen Moehle

It really is a unique park, very barren but in a beautiful way. There's lots of cool spots to stop at and visit, my personal recommendations would be the Mesquite Sand Dunes, Badwater Basin, and the Ubehebe Crater (which features some of the coolest terrain to hike around you'll find anywhere!). Just be sure to bring lots of water during the summer, there's warnings for a reason.

Getting a little hot to visit Death Valley this time of year. But most you can see from the comfort of your air condition vehicle. During the winter the camping and hiking is fantastic

What a great Park and amazing vistas! Pictures help, but cannot capture the grandeur of this place. If you have a chance, please check it out. I will be going back this winter when it’s cooler!

CHUCK HERETH

Awesome scenery...plan ahead though. Sty safe and bring water... more than you think you need.

My experience wasn't far off from it's name. 116° really got me feeling the authenticity of death valley. Park rangers were very informative and nice. The dunes were amazing as well.

Chris Harris

Didn't really stop much in the park but the ride from Vegas through Death Valley to Yosemite is as beautiful of a ride as I've ever taken. It's melt-your-face hot but just creep through slow with the AC on.

Nick Erwin

Well worth the 2,000 mile trip...every time.
