At the moment this business has a score of 4.5 out of 5 and the rating was based on 863 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings is nearly the highest, and it's based on a large number of scores, so we may conclude that the valuation is quite credible. If many people have bothered to give their score when they are satisfied with the service, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to place feddbacks when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Park is included in the category of Amusement park.
Noon arrival seems ideal, before the 1pm weekend rush. The Jolly Trolley is running again. Turkey burgers (topped with greens) and sweet potato fries are good for hungry ppl.
Great place for young kids. Very nostalgic and in need of some updates but my daughter still enjoyed it.
Stopped here so our 2 year old could play. It is perfect for younger kids. The staff are all very friendly and there are plenty of activities for kids. Things could use some updating and a fresh coat of paint but it's a great way to spend a few hours.
Charged $12 for my baby, aside from me changing her never left the car seat
It has been about 30 years since my last visit! But I remember so many things being the same! It was a fun experience with my kids. Now I don't recall the Jack and Jill hill, but it's Soo fun I want to make one in my yard!!! The story telling boxes are so loud, we didn't listen to many, some were not working, and the food took forever to get... But it was fun none the less. It looks well kept in some places, others could use attention. The animal area was very cute and one of our favorite sections. Lots of scattered restrooms it seemed like and I appreciated that! Everyone needs to take their family at least once.
Fun place to take the kids. My granddaughter's had a blast.
My 4 year old had so much fun. We will go again!
We had a birthday party for my 2 year old at Fairyland today (circus place) at 1st I was skeptical about it but it turn out be a great day and place to celebrate my son's bday .I have to give lots of thanks to Corina for being a great and amazing host went the extra mile ! Definitely the best experience and for sure celebrating my sons birthday there again.
Great spot for a family picnic and adventure for the little kids. Especially nice if you have toddlers who want to visit grandparents/great grandparents up the street at St Paul's Towers. Good parking. Great place to let toddlers run, ride the train, pet a sheep, listen to fairy tales, etc. Excellent soy lattes at the little pumpkin.
I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN BEAUTIFUL BERKELEY, DURING THE LATE SIXTIES AND EARLY SEVENTIES. CHILDREN'S FAIRY LAND WAS MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE PLACE ON EARTH. MY DAD AND I WENT TOGETHER AND HAD GREAT FUN❗I HAVE A HUGE SOFT SPOT FOR FAIRY LAND; I ENJOY IT VICARIOUSLY WHEN EVER I AM IN THE PARK. {OFTEN❗❗} I WOULD BE ECSTATIC TO TAKE A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE AND VISIT, UNFORTUNATELY, AS I AM NOT A PARENT, I AM DENIED ACCESS. BOO~HOO❗
Great place for the little kids.
Awesome place to have family day! Admission is only $12 which is reasonable price. Children must be 54" or under to ride the rides.
Great fun for small children friendly staff
Always a great spot to take the kids, especially when the whether is nice. They have various events and fun activities throughout the year. Definitely a win with the kids!
Had my two year old daughter's birthday party here and Corinna did a fantastic job hosting!! The staff and customer service was excellent, and to top it off it is a very clean and organized environment. We will definitely be returning
Spent three hours with the grandkids at Fairyland. They played on every ride, explored all the animals, and were simply riveted by the puppet show. Their favorite activity, other that running at full speed during our entire visit, was sliding down a grassy knoll on pieces of cardboard. Ate a reasonably priced lunch at Johnny Appleseed's Cafe on the property. Staff on the grounds and in the Gift Shop were extremely helpful and nice to deal with.
Historical icon of our childhood. Very simple basic areas with nursury rhyme themed play stations for little ones to enjoy. Cute train that circles the park. Insect snake house that thrills. Picnic tables through out. No high tech anything.. Puppet plays. Keep a close eye as these are old exhibits uneven cobbled paths. A low-key inexpensive place to bring your family.
We had a great time some stuff is getting really old tho. It was still a great place to take your little ones
AwSome place to go on field trip!
I’ve had a family membership here for 5-6 years and it continues to be exciting for my kids every time we go. This is a real gem and has enough going on to keep the family entertained for a full day. Take advantage of the puppet show, children’s theater, story tellers, arts and crafts, and other activities they offer. They also offer sleep overs at the park during the summer that are well organized and a lot of fun!
I thought we'd only be here a few hours but we stayed the entire day and it was hard to pull the kids away from the place. Lots to do and great shows for the 10 and under crowd. If I lived in Oakland I would definitely get a membership.
Been bringing my daughter since she could walk until now,7. She said give it 5. It think its nostalgic for her at this point.
My kids live this place! It needs a little TLC but the kids love it. The magic shows are fun and I really like the diversity in the puppet shows.
If you have a toddler within a 15 minute drive, you should definitely have a membership here. A great place to take them where they can explore, play, or just burn some energy!
It’s nice but some of the programs are not functioning....
This place blows it's old and a little run down. Plus our car got broken into right in front of it...at a kids place...
This is a fun place to take kids. We went for our first time recently and just had to buy the passes to keep coming back. There is fun stuff for little kids to do probably through grade school age. Nice fun little place by Lake Merritt.

Fun for kids of all ages; safe space. Lots of imagination!
Historic, but classic fun for the 8 and under set. Something fun around every corner. My whole family really enjoyed it!
Great Place to take your little ones!
Great place for young kids. Rides, puppet show, fun activities all around. Highly recommend a membership if you are local
Wonderfull for kids. Even my 19 month-old son.
My grandmother took me here and I grew up loving this place. I had an original key and it still works! I take my toddler here now and she loves it too. Unfortunately they don't have healthy food. So, I always pack my own organic, low sugar, pasture raised meat snacks and drink. They do have free water fountains and plenty of places to enjoy a shaded picnic near a play structure/activity if you need to sit and pause. The staff is kind. The Carousel is well maintained! Mind you your child must be 39 inches in height to ride. No adults. Not all rides have height requirements, which is good when your child, like mine, has shorter younger friends. The only adult friendly ride is the train, which is cute and fun. A nice feature for the potty trained kids is the height and size appropriate toilet and sink, my 3½yr old loved her autonomy in this regard. As most public bathroom's she's likely to nearly fall in. Oh, BTW I'm mentioning the bathroom near the puppet stage. Please do make the puppet show, it's worth it! My little one loves it everytime, smile ear to ear.
Great place for young kids! Lots of different storybook exhibits for the kids to run around and explore. The Alice in Wonderland maze is my 2 year olds favorite. Bring in a lunch and eat at the many picnic tables.
Just a magical place for the littles!
Great place for the kids! Go early and enjoy the shows and animals. The park is nicely kept and clean.

Pretty cool place for kids.

This is an incredible, perfectly small kid sized amusement park. We took our twin 5 year olds and our 2.5 year old, and it was engaging for all of them. We made it through all of the park during the course of a fun day. Bonus points for having a coffee stand with good coffee for tired parents. :)
We went during the adult fairyland and had a great time! It was so much fun to experience all the different activities while walking around with a beer! Also the area was very well maintained and managed.
The kiddos I was babysitting had a blast! I loved the troupe of actors that wrote and performed their own play. They even did free face painting.
Great for kids, I would say up to 6 or 7 years old. My 4 year old had lots of fun. But the parents are not allowed on any rides except the trolly train, so he was scared the do some stuff by himself.
Fantastic for little kids 1 to 6, although some.of the older kids also had fun at the pirate ship playground area. They have all sorts of little houses with a magic key used to turn on speakers that recite a story that our 3 year old loved, a couple of rides, a puppet show and a few other things.
Fantastic place for family (:
Well priced, cute open area with animals and story time!!
This childrens park is exceptional. The children have so much fun.
Excellent place for younger children!
A nice simple place to bring little ones. Puppet shows and food if you're hungry.
Good place to keep a 3-4 year old's belief in fairy and fairyland alive. Weeks after the visit child still gets excited whenever it's name is mentioned. Personally.. Cute place.. crowded though.
Great outdoors place to take kids. You can pay to enter a nearby street with parking by lake Merritt and may have to walk a while to get there. When you're there, you can buy tickets and optionally a key to make the boxes talk. The rides in attractions have a story book theme, things like Alice in wonderland or similar, trains, animals. There are periodic stage shows or plays. I took my kids at two and four, the younger side of each. That was probably on the young side and three plus or closer to four will get a better use out of it due to the size. If you want to save money on food you can bring in your own lunch to eat.
Looks very basic. Well its a place that is affordable just not worth the drive from Los Angeles to bring my 3 year grand daughter.
Children's Fairyland at Oakland is a fun place for kids especially below 8 years. We spent a wonderful day with our grand kids who thoroughly enjoyed every set there. The Park has numerous story book sets such as Alice in Wonderland, Snowwhite & 7 dwarfs, Noah's ark, Little Miss Muffet and many more. They have slides for kids of various ages. They have Puppet Shows and Magic Shows which kids over five would be thrilled to watch. Children can create and learn at the Arts and Crafts Center. There is a small zoo too with animals such as rabbits, pony, goat and donkey. They hand you a key which unlocks story telling and music. At the Cafe we enjoyed fries with family at the Picnic Tables. A big park and Lake Merritt are located close by which add to the fun. A place worth visiting on week ends and holidays with family.
So much fun with your little one you won't regret it
Unique place to take toddlers and kids. Everything based on fair tales.
Loved the place and my daughter does too, we were there today and I'm sad to say that we saw rats running around by the picnic area. Hope they take better care of the place. I feel sad to write this review because I love the place, but it should be secure specially for little ones.
Many, many years ago I used to bring my kids here. One of them celebrated his second birthday here, and now he is in college and doesn't spend as much time with Mom and Dad. It seems like yesterday. We kept the key, i wonder if it still works? It brings me tears of joy to read all the positive reviews. I just read a review about Fairyland for grownups, what?! Another one is coming up on Friday September 27th called " Drawn together" Will have to check it out. I would choose to spend a day here rather than Disneyland...
Great place for a birthday party, the cupcakes were dry, staff nice. Overall amazing.
Enchanting (albeit little run down) place to bring young kids to enjoy the magic of nursery rhymes and fairy tales. There are only a few rides, a few animals (no petting or feeding), and a couple of food shops. Running around and exploring the exhibits are the main attractions.
I have been there several times with my grandson and we have enjoyed it it each time. Alice in Wonderland is his most favorite!
The park was nice I didn't get to go
It's an old place.... If you are vintage, that's a cool place' ; otherwise, of you like Disney standards, that is definitely not for you.
So much fun for little ones.
Cutest parc ever with fairytales. Perfect for ages 1-7!! We spent 4 hours there. Until the parc closed.
Fun for the kids!

Wonderful place for kids to play, admission fee of $12 per person and kid. Small rides , amazing themes of rhymes and stories bought to life with house and characters. Petting animals like donkey, small horses, rabbits. Good puppet show and story telling. Kids will totally enjoy. Cafe bar for quick grab of foods. Sadly we missed the jolly train ride. Definitely recommend for kids under 5 yrs.
TRADITION ! I'm 70.I visited and enjoyed it when I was a kid........(when Jim Henson was first starting out)...... Naturally when my son was little I took him. He liked it. Recently my son,. his family and I took my 3 year old grandson. He loved it. Not much has changed. GOOD WHOLESOME FUN in Oakland.
It is a charming park for little kids.
Wonderful place for younger children. Wasn't crowded at all which was also great.
I love bringing my kids here. They have lots of fun, and it's safe and enclosed.
Always fun, imaginative play space that is very diverse.
I don't like this place. But my kids love it here. So 5 stars.
Great place for kids to play. Yearly membership makes sense at the playground.
The best place for a child
I absolutely love the staff they make you feel like you are visiting a friend at home the happy hour bites and the would four sour beer absolutely amazing
I would give it a 0 stars if I could. First of all, the place is too expensive for what they have to offer. They don't have enough seating areas and they only have 4 rides which 1 wasn't even working and my grandson couldn't ride any of the other ones. The place was filthy. I was visiting with my grandson and saw this place online and took him there. I was very disappointed.
A great spot to hang with your kiddos. You will not be bummed.
Fun time right place to get out of the house run around
Great experience. Staff was super friendly. The only issue was all the snack shops were closed by 4:30 when the park closed at 5
Fun for kids under 8 or so. Free rides.
Great for kids up to maybe 10. They have food and a safe fun environment
Children's fairyland is a gem that Oakland should be proud to have. There's an electric train, puppet shows every day, small animal zoo, a ferris wheel, and lots of little interactive exhibits. This was created in 1952 and was a major inspiration for Disneyland. As a matter of fact apparently Walt Disney poached several of the designers and employees to start Disneyland. There's a food court, wild West world, and much more. If you have children and are in Oakland it's a must-see. Sign up for a membership to get discounted access, it's worth it.
I loved coming here as a kid - it was an hour drive each way - Thanks Mom! And the new entrance looks so wonderful! Congratulations on the renovations :)
Children's Fairyland is one of the inspirations for Disney Land. But it's small, local, won't wear you out, or break your budget. And little kids will be perfectly happy with it. Older kids will likely be bored.
This place was amazing for my toddler! There are lots of fun activities for the little ones. It’s hard to find fun, playful places for a three year old, but this is the perfect place for toddlers! You pay the admission and can ride all the rides as many times as you want. It’s a really neat place! There are different fairytale themed areas all over- Alice in Wonderland area, book reading places, slides, dragons, carousel, hill sliding area and much more!
Great place for toddlers, my son has been a few times and loves going. He never wants to leave.
It's a constant classic that everyone it Oakland loves. It's a pride of the city. My kids love it. My son especially loves the puppet shows. Almost stupid to not buy the membership if you have kids and live in the bay. They should have the pumpkin open more for us parents. Coffee is sometimes essential when you have kids running around the whole place. Which also means there is always something to do. Never a disappointment. Go yesterday.
1.Safety of kids in the giant wheel is to be improved. There is no belt inside the gondola/cage for the kid to the seat. While starting the wheel, there is a jerk and when it is stopped for boarding the next kid . Also, due to aging of the mechanisms there is a sideway shake of the cage resulting in the falling of the kid from the seat within the cage. Either this should be corrected or the entire wheel is to be redesigned to enable an adult to be allowed to sit inside the cage. 2. Many paintings of rhymes have faded with time. 3. The puppet show was excellent.
My five year old loves this place. Very 1950s citch.
Very special treat in Oakland- kids simply love Fairyland and for good reason. It's a delight. Totally unique and fun to visit
Fantastic, lovely for kids and their families
It's only really meant for ages 1-10 so it's hard to enjoy if you're above those ages.
We went for the first time this week and loved it so much we bought a membership. This is a haven for 3-6 year olds. My 1yo enjoyed playing here as well, but was too young for most of the rides. Also, adults are not allowed on the rides which makes it nice for the kids. There are tons of places to play and a couple nice places to eat with some healthy options. My kids also enjoyed the puppet show and storytime.
Wonderful place to take your child for visits are birthday parties. Live animals, rides, puppy shows, food and souvenir store. Price is fair. This place has been around for years. I remember going there when I was a kid 50 years ago. Brought back memories when I brought my child and again with bringing my grandchildren. Start a tradition with your family.
Fantastic for little kids 1 to 6, although some.of the older kids also had fun at the pirate ship playground area. They have all sorts of little houses with a magic key used to turn on speakers that recite a story that our 3 year old loved, a couple of rides, a puppet show and a few other things.
My son had fun, but its in need of a remodel.
Lots of fun for my 3-year old Granddaughter.
Sweet place to take little kids. Used to come all the time when I was little and it was fun.
Fun place for kids. Two to three hours can be easily spent. Paid parking.
This place is awesome for kids 2-6-ish! There are little vegetable patches, mechanical exhibits, ponies and other live animals. All around a great place to spend a day with family ❤️. Must come early though as parking gets filled up quick.
Some parts of the park are a little run-down compared to when I was a child. But it was extreme fun for my grandchildren without a doubt.
Good place for children and geriatric persons for walking
Fun! Fun! Puppet live show! Games active just maybe pack ur own Lunchs food cus that isn't their thing! so best idea cheap also is to bring ur snacks drinks food make a fun outdoor picnic ;)
It is amazing! There is a puppet show there is a mountain where you can slide down and there is more! I absolutely love this place! I'm only 10 and I still go there cause I want to, Nobody can force me not to go!
Lots of fun things to see and do for todlers, small children.
My 4 year old loved it!
Wonderful mini theme park for young children.
rides are old and the place is small. The puppet show is good though.
I will always love Fairyland since I was a little girl and I went in 1978 when I was 2 until this day I will always support Fairyland. I am a key collector as well
Awesome for the little ones. Only 12 dollars per person. It has all fairytales from my child hood. If your headed to sf or Oakland worth the stop.
Benioff Children's Hospital had their Halloween party here for kids with heart disease. I've never been here, but it is actually pretty big and quite a few things to do. The party was held in the later hours, parking wasn't that bad during that time. Tons of stuff for kids to do and explore.
My kid loves this place. She's a 3rd grader now, but she still loves going here.
Short money, cool for the kids
Wonderful wonderland for small children, my grand daughter was entranced by all the experiences to be had there. She will no doubt keep visiting it.
So fun for little ones. Love all the fairytale stories disbursed throughout the place.
absolutely loved the history of this place and how special it is to still be around it is truly and iconic landmark. If you can find an employee that knows about the place they can tell you some incredible history.
If you would rate Fairyland less than three stars, you should get some help.
My two girls LOVED this place. It was very cute and tiny. For small kids only. I have a 12year old girl with down syndrome and she liked everything there except she was to big for the rides. So that was a bummer but all good
This is a favorite of my kids each year when we visit Oakland during the summer! Well kept, engaging and super fun!
An absolute treasure in one of the most beautiful locations in Oakland. Highly recommended if you have younger children who are tough to entertain.
Mutt grandson had a great time!
It is ok park... you have to pay each person $12 regardless of age.
Oh my goodness! This place still lives! Grew up in Oakland late 50's to late 60's and went here so many times as a kid. The "magic key" was fascinating. Wow. Gotta see this again if I ever get to Oakland again. Great memories.
Place was nice and maybe one more food stand would work but great place for kids!
Good ver good
Needs to be revamped, disappointed that ticket prices are so expensive for adults when there is nothing for adults to do. My husband and I took our daughter for her 4th birthday along with my 10 year old sister and my mom. $72!! And my sister was too tall for any of the rides. My 4 year old was the only one who enjoyed herself, but I think she would have had just as much fun if we had taken her to a free public park. I understand that Fairyland was built in the 1950s, so I guess that explains it, but it desperately needs to be updated. Also, my daughter was really looking forward to the "fairies"and we didn't really see any. If they had paid just one person to walk around dressed like a fairy, she would have been ecstatic. Maybe the ride operators could dress up like fairies? If they turned their animal attractions into a petting zoo, that would have been a huge improvement as well. All of the animals there are typical petting zoo animals, goats, ducks, bunnies, donkey. But they are behind fences that are difficult for small children to see through or over. Idk, just wasn't what I was expecting.
My 3 years old likes it! It's good for their imagination development.
Nice for tots to run around
Amazing non-commercial Children's theme park that's been around since 1950.
We love this! Great for 1 to 8 years olds.
Nice facilities safe and secure plus they're doing upgrades all the time
Although some things have changed it's still a fun place to take young childten. Puppet shows, trolley rides, animals and kid friendly snacks available.
Great place for small children
This place only had 2 of the 3 rides working. It was a nice place for my toddler to run around in. I dont know why they charge adults when all we do is stand around. The only big issue is the neighborhood. We parked our car right next to it and it got broken into. Broke our glass to take my things from the trunk. We are tourists so be careful if you are one too. Oakland is not a safe place from my experience at all. Take all your belongings to the park.
No frills but excellent way to have your kids find enjoyment with the rides, activities, and adventuring the park.
If you are old like me, you will find this delightful place a total throw back to your early childhood. It reminds me of Story Book Gardens at the Wisconsin Dells back in the 1950's where we took family vacations. You will relive the childhood adventures in Fairyland while children delight in climbing, sliding and tunneling through recreations of those tales. We attended a delightful program about starlight, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. 2 year old grandson loved and so did I. Train ride and sweet treats, yes.
More compact than expected but the kiddo loved it. Might be a little boring for kids over 8ish
We were impressed with how large Fairyland is and the variety of things to do. Our 2 1/2 year old grandson had a great time!
Great place for little ones! My 16 month old had lots of fun, there was so much he was able to do. He'll have even more fun when he's 3 and can really appreciate the park. We'll be back for sure.
This place is amazing! Or 9 year old loves it and could've spends the whole day riding rides and exploring every inch of this park. None of the rides were adult friendly (besides the train I think) so I thought the $13 per adult admission fee was a bit ridiculous, however the kids are able to ride all the rides for free unlimited, which was nice. For 2 adults and 1 kid it was $36 admission just as a reference. We came on a Thursday afternoon, and while there were animals, we couldn't pretty them which was disappointing but the staff informed us there are designated days for petting them, but he didn't have too much more information on that. The animals seemed happy and healthy and it wasn't super stinky (always a plus!). Beware of kids taller than 58", they won't be able to ride a good majority of the rides.
A great way to spend time with the kids,
I went to Fairyland for the first time in a years. The puppet show was great the grounds were nice and clean love the upgrades with the fake grass no more wet grass which is great for the kids
Nice traditional park but long queues for food
Nice place to spend the day with kids 1 to 8 years old
If you have toddlers, this is the best place for them.
Good little place. Clean, well maintained. Good for kids up to 5 year old.
Very fun place and super friendly staff. We love it. The yearly family membership is such a great deal when you have kids under 8.
Our 2 year old grandson is captivated by this place. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The Fairytale scenes (crooked house, the whale, pirates ship) are a bit dated and need some rehabilitation. Puppet shows are fun. The setting next to the lake is beautiful.
