REVIEWS OF Pinnacle Mountain State Park IN Arkansas

The West Summit Trail has spectacular views! The signs and information I found only call the trail a “strenuous walk”. I would say it lies somewhere around “advanced beginner” hiker. I personally wouldn’t bring younger kids as there are some steeper rock areas to climb. If you are planning to do this hike during the summer months (I hiked on August 14 with a temp of 102 and heat index of 110) make sure to bring some water and hit the trail in the earlier part of the day! There was plenty of shade from the base to the summit so it didn’t feel quite as hot. I thoroughly enjoyed this hike and cannot wait to hike the other trails!

Laura Wallace

Great day time, family hike. Beautiful scenery. Be careful going after rain as the rocks/mud are very slick (especially concerning with the kiddos).

Carol King Kennard

We hiked the West Summit Trail, had a picnic lunch beside the super cool playground, and walked the Kingfisher Trail. It was perfect weather! We had so much fun!!

kapil dhital

I just loved the place. Hike for the 1000 ft. height and ready to see the beautiful scene.

Eric Beltran

On a nice day be sure to go really early. It gets packed. It's great exercise.

Rhonda Suchanek

first time to ever hike. it was amazing. a trip worth taking for sure.

Tracy Nymeyer

Great short hike with a nice view at the top.

Kir Partain

Really great place... It's not for a novice.. Rocky and can be difficult... But worth it.

Hector Tupaz

It was fun to climb. Its not that hard and not that steep. Kids can climb it too.

Clarence Middleton

Nice park great atmosphere, can get crowded at times. Pretty scenery, worth the trip

Earfear Washere

One of the wonders of Arkansas. Some mountains are higher but few have the charm of Pinnacle Mountain. You can traverse the steps on the 'easy' side or rough it on the 'hard' side. I was surprised to learn I could rent a canoe and supplies very cheap. My father and I floated the water around the mountain this past Father's day. Not to mention it's right outside the city limits. I take everyone from out of town to this mountain. A close, cheap, fun way to make new memories

Cheyenne Merritt

Great hiking with a variety of trails for different experience levels. Great modern playground at the base of the mountain.

Cheryl Visser

Glad to see the mud is covered in the playground area. Thank you.

Anna Johnson

It's a beautiful climb and great trails. Its nice living in such wonderful area

victor fluker

A place where you can relax and let the mind wander

Jackie Wyman

Love hiking up pinnacle, great workout and a great view. If you're in the area and have an hour or 2 definitely swing by. The visitor center also has a great overlook of pinnacle!

Nikki Ackerman

Was there for the Winfield UMC annual SonRise service and it was beautiful as usual!

Hu

The most fantastic 2 hour hike! Great for beginners.

Justin Stegall

Great place. Be sure to check out the visitors center.

Christina Shatsar

This was my third time going to the mountain. But the first time I made it to the top! So pretty, as always. The stretch between trail markers 8 to 10 were insane. But had so much fun. Definitely took me more than an hour; a little over two hours (if you're asthmatic).

Robert Schuldt

Good place to go when you need to go on a quiet walk in nature. Also be sure to check out the beehive they have in the nature center. It’s absolutely fascinating to watch.

Jeremiah Johnson

Have loved the historic trees all of my life! Mountain is cake, may have to go up twice. My son's pre k class went recently and the park rangers we're great teaching them about indigenous animals and reptiles alike! They learned a ton and even taught us parents a bit! Overall a great experience! Playground was a big hit as well! Always plenty of room to wear them out, we slept well that night!

Austin Thompson

Beautiful park just outside of town. Lots of amenities including hiking, fishing, picnic tables/grills, nice playground (no swings), and bathrooms. Plenty space to play sports, as well as parking. On very busy days parking can be crowded on main park, but there is overflow parking across the street. Access is just west of park on south side of highway.

Kevin Miltz

I absolutely love coming here. There is beauty all around. There is a nice park and picnic tables and grills. I have been here a few times and everytime the park is clean. The bathrooms are a nice touch as well. I have been to many parks that have outhouses. This one has electricity and running water. Thank you to all those who work so hard to make this place look great. The views are spectacular at the top. The have an easy and a hard trail for those who may be looking for more.

Canaan McGee

Pinnacle is one of my favorite places for a little outdoor exercise. It's close proximity to where I live in Little Rock makes it a quick and convenient place to travel to and there's a nice variety of incline to suite anyone's needs. I personally like to park on the east side of the mountain and climb up the east summit trail which is the steepest of the trails and jog down most of the West summit trail before running half of the base trail back to the car but anyone of the the trails by itself is enough for most. The west trail is considered the easiest trail to summit the mountain making it the most popular and a little crowded at times. There's a great view of the Arkansas rivers from the top of the mountain and a nice park with a playground at the bottom of the West side of the mountain. If parking is full in the main lots (which is not uncommon on nice sunny days) there is a huge field designated for overflow parking on the other side of the highway with a little trail under the bridge that brings you back to the mountain without having to cross the highway on foot.

Ember Rain

One of my favorite places. It's beauty makes my heart sing

TABBITHA Simpson

I got to work out

Benjamin Christy

Great park to spend some time outdoors

Gamer Twins

5 kids, 1 dogs and us, crazy hiking but the end turn to be magical, is a must, so close for Conway, we ended in the playground eating sandwiches.

Chris Beck

One of the best hiking experiences of my life.

Tamerdis Bake

Fresh Air, friendly people and trail of your choice. Amazing once you get to the top.

Mark Gernhart

Great place to go for a hike and enjoy being in nature. My family had a lot of fun at the park, and look forward to going again.

Justice Hepler

It is so beautiful here!! Definitely a favorite place to go!

kimberly Greene

It is the closetest real hike that is gorgeous not far from Cabot. I love the rocks up top and the view.

Rj Edwards

Oh once you get to the top...set back and enjoy the view.....

James Foster

We parked at the base loop and hiked around to the west summit trail. Then we hiked west summit to the top. It was a very tough hike near the top because it’s no trail, just yellow paint stripes on large rocks that you must climb up. But the payoff is spectacular. It’s a must see and do in Arkansas!!!

Noah Beach

Beautiful views and flowing creeks. They have a display garden available. The Quachita Trail starts/ends here. It was a beautiful day, and I only saw 2 people on the trail. If you go off trail to the top of the mountains you can view quartz exposed on the ground.

B Fulmer

Nice day and great views from the east summit

brent hill

Beautiful park and great place to hike, if your going to fly your drone you have to file out paperwork at the visitors center a few weeks before you can fly or Ranger Davenport may come looking for you.

Heiđilore TheWatcher

Great place to hike and take pictures!!

John Conner Miller

The view at the top is amazing. I went on April 27th, the wind was blowing keeping the area cool.

Fuzzman

Amazing park with plenty to do.

Jeremy Rhodes

You gotta love this park. It's only a about 15 minutes outside of Little Rock and offers all kinds of fun. For the kids it has one of the best non-traditional playgrounds around. There is a short trail, called the Kingfisher trail that is nice for a stroll. You can also hike the trail around the bottom if you don't want to hike up the mountain. But if you do, it offers a spectacular view of the area. There are two side, one easy one hard. The easy side will take about 20-30 minutes to go up. Perfect.

Tammy Kratzer

I absolutely loved hiking here. I hiked up the East summit and down the west. East side is very hard but there were kids doing it. It was fun to scramble over the big boulders. Views from top are amazing. You have a 360 degree view. Can see Lake Catherine and the Arkansas river. Make sure to stop in the visitors center and check it out.

crystal gibson

Love it! The view from the top is awesome! There are many different trails depending on your fitness level. It's a great place to take groups or just a friend or spouse! There are picnic tables, restrooms, and plenty of room to play frisbee or other games. Parking close is limited. Other parking is located across the street but there is a safe trail to walk back across.

Memory Road Music

My favorite scenic spot

Pedro Lopez

I absolutely loved our visit to Pinnacle State Mountain Park. I went in December and then again in August and I was absolutely taken away by the beauty. My Girlfriend and I Love Nature so we do recommend it to anyone who loves to be outdoors. If you go during the evening, sunset is absolutely stunning.

Jared McCullough

Such a gem for Arkansas and Little Rock. This is an outstanding park. Take the East trail up and the west trail down for a scenic loop. Don't be afraid to go off trail in the boulder field and steep rock areas. It's a blast to scramble around on. One of the best places in all the south to quickly get exposure without a lot of effort.

C B

Great place for family outings. Good play ground for the kids. Large open field for picnics. Facilities close by and nearly always clean. Creek access and access to several trails. Only need is more parking.

Christina Kirchoff

We love coming throughout the summer to hike.

Steven Kott

Absolutely beautiful. Stunning views

dewayne blaylock

We take the baby every chance we get. They know him by name at the visitor center

Aly Paegelow

I have enjoyed both summits and the base trail. It's dog friendly so long as they are on a leash. Make sure to bring water!

Jeffrey Brown

Pinnacle Mtn is a beautiful place to enjoy. Great fishing spot as well.

Taylor Cooper Lewis

Beautiful. Spiritual. Great work out

Michael Parks

Best place to drive your legs straight up a mountain. Lots of land to do whatever you feel like doing. Just please pick up any trash you see. Keep our land's clean. Peace

Daniel Newswanger

It's a great hiking trail and has a nice picnic area with tables and grills.

Larry Weber

Beautiful place. Great views and trails.

Deanna Croson

Safe and clean. I recommend their programs and classes. Park Interpreters Matt and Kellie make the experience. Enjoyed the trails, visitor center and several educational programs put on by amazing people. Can't recommend highly enough!

BlindFrog

I can goto the top and yell Bitconnect

Kathryn McCoy

Great place to visit with family. Just a warning though, the "easy" side to climb still takes so work, especially with young kids.

Gilbert Navarro

Did the east rock quarry trail. Lots of wild flowers and small creeks. The overlook is very scenic. Well worth the hike.

Justin Hardesty

It's well maintained. Great place for some exercise.

Chris Baker

Beautiful location with much to offer the casual or exuberant hiker. The trails are short and can be done with relative ease. There is a lot of play area for the kids and even dogs. If you canoe or kayak, there is a launch in the park for some pretty water action, the water is not moving or has little current so it's a great time for reflection and soaking in the atmosphere.

Sonia Puetz

Really fun!

William N

You can easily get up and down within an hour. Not many places to sit at the top. Good for excercise. I think it's much more dangerous going down, because I almost twist my ankle everytime.

Mandi Curtwright

They have great options for family exploring! We went by the visitor center and did the small trail and the overlook. Beautiful!

Eric Fraser

The classic Pinnacle Mountain climb from the West parking area seems to be a physical accomplishment for bragging rights. I prefer hiking around the Base Trail, either way, then climbing up the Rocky East Summit Trail, then back down the West side. But don't forget the flat, streamside Kingfisher Trail, or the Rocky Valley Trail that leads to a beautiful overlook on the distant hilltop.

Jerry Gooch

Just right for a quick hike and some nice views.

Susan Usherwood

We only had an hour and a half, but we hiked party way up the mountain and had a picnic lunch.

Naomi Southwell

My husband and I spent a day here hiking the trails. We really enjoyed the West Summit trail. It was a unique hike with big boulders. It was tougher going down that it was going up. You really have to watch your steps. The view at the top was awesome.

ana pantoja

Good climb, not overly tough but still a nice challenge.

Matthew Cannon

Absolutely beautiful! Short drive just outside Little Rock!

Jan Cam

This is a wonderful State Park. Lots of interesting hiking places including views of the rivers and Downtown Little Rock from the top of Pinnacle Mountain. If climbing to the top, the east trail is more challenging. The west trail is easier but there are still some challenges there as well

Michael Brechlin

Hike to the top. Enjoy the view.

Paul Aviles

Rough and rugged hike to the summit! Beautiful views! A real gem! Facilities available, park rangers on site, and a visitors center fully stocked.

Christopher Jones

God's work

V

They have several trails to reach the top of pinnacle or a trail to walk the base. There are public bathrooms and a playground at one location. There campgrounds as well. This state park seems smaller and we haven't found many other activities to do except climb to the top. It is a unique climb and challenging. It is also a beautiful view once you do reach the top.

James Fare

Beautiful park and great scenery

Ken Morris

Went with a friend and her children. Had fun and enjoyed the time.

pARANOIA pAM

Loved it. Calm and peaceful

Gabby Yelverton

So pretty!

Jane Bakari

Fun for exercising or dates.

Sarai E

Great place for family events.

David Childress

It was full the day I went. But it was still fun and barbeque was great

Loren Rugen

Lots of neat programs going on all year long for all age groups. Their park interpreters are knowledgeable and caring. Great trails for the whole family. Always something to do here.

Lincoln Estill

Absolutely beautiful views from just a two hour hike.

Ben Thesing

Great place to hike. Could we get a sign that says "Please do not play music put loud on the trail" I mean no one wants to hear your crappy music when enjoying nature. Put some damn headphones in.

Greg Phillips

Greg place for a quick hike. Great views from the top. A lot of people use it for weekly workouts....or preparations for backpacking trips.

Wendy Watson

I love the fact that regardless of your activity level, you will find a trail or path suited to you, whether it be climb the difficult side of the mountain or take a leisurely stroll down the kingfisher trail, you can find a trail to suite your needs or expertise.

Kristy Eddy

Always love going here. Clean and fun. Family friendly.

Trent Williams

Great hiking place! Fun for all ages! Easy to follow trails and a great view once you get to the top. I recommend hiking here to anyone who wants to just get out, have some fun and relax to a rewarding view.

Brady Muntana

This is one of Arkansas’s finest hiking mountains in my experiences and travels. I’m a bold adventurer and anytime that I pass through central Arkansas I try to hike this mountain. I went on a rainy day, which I do not recommend because it can be very slippery and dangerous. But it made for a lot of beautiful pictures.

Bette Barnes

The visitors center is really kid friendly and quite enjoyable! We learned a lot! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. A must go for everyone especially those folks with children! We hiked the West Trail up Pinnacle Mountain. This was to be the easiest trail up. This trail is up the side of the mountain. Before you get to the top, the trail turns into a big boulder rock slide. One must climb and step up and over boulders and boulders before reaching the top. Once at the top, it is all worth it! A great hike! I would not recommend this hike for folks that have trouble stepping up and climbing. The trail is strenuousness and difficult especially near the top! Overall, we had a great experience!

Heather Rondeau

This place is incredible! A must see! Many different trails to accommodate different levels of hikers and bikers. We went on the "Sunday Drive Through the Park" tour and it has been the highlight of my visit here in Arkansas! We learned all about the park, its history, and got to see one of the most incredible views! Highly recommend this tour! Also, thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife and different trees from each of the different regions of Arkansas that were on display.

Kerri Slayden

So much fun here! From really easy walking to more difficult hikes and climbs. Gorgeous scenery, too. We go often and still haven’t been everywhere they offer.

Adam Prichard

Great place to get out and hike.

Matthew Walls

Lots of dogs off leash! We left early because of the dogs running up on our dogs that were leashed. Also dog poop on the sidewalks from lazy dog owners! Apparently the posted rules were to difficult for some people to comprehend! However we did see an owl in one of the trees near the river.

Mahfuzul Hasan

Symbol of natural beauty. You will feel like its an art on a canvas. At the same time you will be able to see a vast part of Arkansas. Really Arkansas is a naturally beautiful state. Now I got it why it is called natural state. Nature lover should go there at least once in a months. People who need to do exercise, especially diabatic people can go there. It will work twice, at a time exercise and enjoy the natural beauty.

Ted Freeman

Hidden gem in central Arkansas to get a beautiful view of the area along with a distant little rock skyline. A good hike for most and kids have a blast.

Jerome Johnson

Love this place, it's just beautiful to a city guy like myself.

Wonder

Beautiful hike up the small mountain

Asha Wheeler

Went to Pinnacle Mountain State Park just to spend ten minutes on the trail. Saw this little guy as I was leaving. He looked like he's going to shed soon. He was headed back into the underbrush as we left. I don't think he liked my camera. Hope to visit again soon and spend more time exploring.

Brandon Shearin

Don’t bring your dogs, saw a dog die from heat exhaustion at the top

Christina Harlan

So pretty. Also to get away from the city and get with nature.

memekarsonsdad

This is a great hike if you have a beautiful day to kill, I hope to do it again soon!

Jessica Dalton

Great trails around the base. East side up is a little tricker then the west side. Parking fills quickly during the busy times of the year so you’ll have to park in the overflow parking. Easier trails are located closer to the visitors center and rock quarry pond.

Amber Goins

I've been coming here for years. It's the closest state park to Little Rock. All the locals go out to Pinnacle to run the trails, canoe, and play at the playground. It takes a healthy adult about an hour to walk/climb up the mountain. You can do it in 30 minutes if you're a little motivated. I'm sure people run up and down it in 30 minutes flat. There are bathrooms and water at the bottom, but nothing on the trail. I see lots of dogs on the trail, but not a lot of poop thankfully. If the parking is full look for signs for overflow parking across the street. The view is great from the top.

chelsey Willis

Loved the clean bathrooms and there's several trails you can do! The views are spectacular. If you are uncomfortable on rocks this may not be the place for you. There's picnic tables and a playground for the kids. Only thing I would improve is marking the Rocky portion of the trail a bit better. Definitely worth a trip here!

Amanda D

Beautiful and great places to hike besides up the mountain

Shradha Mahajan

Gorgeous park to visit. We had gone during spring and it was lush green with beautiful views. Take a trek all the way up to see the river going by. Mind you to reach the top you need to hike. So gear up and go coz the view after the trek is worth it.

Tashombia Lindsey

It is a nice park for hiking. They only have two biking trails for mountain bikes. One is .7 miles the other is 6.5 miles. They dont have one that is in between. My boyfriend and I did the .7 mile one. There are lots of rocks on the trail making it dangerous for bikers. Overall it was cool to go biking but the trails are not taken care of.

Karthik Sk

Totally enjoyed my trekking/mountaineering. Different skill level trails run into the summit. Nice photo scenic places are available everywhere if you are into landscape photography. The first photo is from the top of pinnacle, the next 2 are from "Ranch North Woods Preserve" south-east of Pinnacle (Beware of snacks in Ranch North Woods Preserve).

Ole Tommyboy

Great park to hike, relax, and put a pole in the water. Climb the "mountain" if you like, the view is worth it.

Tabitha Proffitt

Beautiful. 100 percent worth the climb.

Heather Miller

Was glad to get out of house an spend time with a amazing person!!till I see him again

Laura C Lin

Great place beautiful views

jim catalfamo

Short nice easy hike at the Westside to an awesome view. At this trailhead the park offers a great picnic area with grills and a playground for the kids. Public bathrooms are also available. But if you're looking for a little bit more challenge and a rock scramble by the east trailhead. Either way this is an awesome part with an awesome.

Nykita Kornegay

We love this place

Manaswini Mishra

It just wow .. one of the beautiful place in Arkansas. The view is amazing colorful and vibrant. Saw wildlife’s . The visitor center staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Nice place recommended.

Andy Hemphill

Great state park - lots of activities and trails. Pavilions, tables and restroom were all clean.

Jason Granger

Fun hike. There is a difficult side and an easier side of the mountain to hike.

Ken Holmes

Great local State Park.

Adrian Hoag

Nice long hike

Brilliant Chipo Pasipanodya

A wonderful place to be for nature lovers

Curtis Tucker

If you like the outdoors, this is one of the top places to go in Arkansas. They're are many trails. Great place for family, and friends. Its pet friendly too so bring them out! Be prepared for a good time! Enjoy.

Gabrielle Davis

There are many trails here (not just the trail to the top) to explore. I've been on several with different levels of amusement. The arboretum provided a lot of good information about native plants/trees in different areas of Arkansas. It was interesting to see the different types and an easy walk after a long hike (also, it was paved and probably accessible by wheelchair).

Harold Langston

Beautiful park. We had a wonderful time. Mini playground areas hiking and camping areas beautiful water and beautiful views. there's a beautiful Visitor Center / Nature Center. a wonderful place to go and spend the day

Lisa Hernandez

We loved it! Nice and clean! The restrooms were not bad! We will be back soon!

Aja Lee

Very great place in the warmer months to hike up the mountain. The park is very clean and safe. I see lots of families have birthday parties and grill out here in the summer months. Has a great big fields. Once you reach the top of the mountain it is totally worth all the walking because the view is absolutely gorgeous. If you are scared of heights I definitely recommend it

Smiley White

I love walking on the trail.

Aundrea Payne

Perfect place for a family outing!!!!!! The east side is a little more difficult than the west side but the end result is all the same and is beautiful at the top!!!!

Eric Coffman

This park has been a prized favorite of mine since my childhood. Guess what it still holds a special place in my heart. Yesterday I got to share that love to my 7 year old daughter. So, a whole new generation can come to enjoy all it offers.

Alex volpert

Always clean. A very nice park with various activities and events for family fun. Canoe rentals, bike trails, hiking trails, picnicking, birdwatching, and the beautiful view from the top of the mountain!

Wez So_N_So

A nice little mountain that is kinda rocking. You can hike up the east or west side. The west side is a little easier.

Lee Rycraw

Always fun, lots of things to do here. Family friendly and great place to do things with friends. A must visit!

Mugimane Manjanatha

Excellent hiking area, family and dog friendly as well. Only issue is that the park closes early during winter and going up the mountain after sunset in winter months is not allowed.

Kayla Burchfield

This is an amazing place to run around with the kids or to scale the side of the mountain with your spouse. We love the views!!

Annell Gott

Not a walk but more of climb up that Moutain. Great work out

Birdie Haynes

Beautiful place to spend some time in nature! Well maintained facilities, playground and trails. One of my favorite places for birding in Central Arkansas.

Fasc DeCrescenzo

Great hike with a great view! The visitor center has a cute little lake, too!

Dronetastic M

The hike up the mountain was not hard.fairly moderate trail to the summit.breath taking views

Abbey Boeckman

The mountain is great for all levels of hiking.

Raul Iglesias

If you are with your family consider the West Summit Trail. There are a lot more parking spaces and it's a much easier climb to the top than the East. Plan about 45 mins up and down and one bottle of water for each person, minimum.

Siddhartha Preetam

Good place for weekend hiking. 3 miles round trip up n back. Has a restroom down at the entrance and a vending machine for water Powerade etc. Nice and clean with good scenic views overlooking the Maumelle lake.

Dora Bailey

Great area of town. Wooded. Clean bathrooms. Great trails. Even better visitor's center.

Kayley Ross

Always crowded but still a fun and challenging hike!

Tim Hooker

Beautiful and very well kept. I was surprised at the number of other hikers. Cell service worked the entire hike on both sides of the mountain.

Richard daniels

Enjoyed the hike with our 5 grands 13 to 6 yr old.

Janae Blew

Took the family there on mothers day this year. The kids had a great time. I enjoyed it as well. Brought our lunch so we could eat before we went and climbed the mountain. We didn't make it all the way to the top but when you're trying to keep up with 4 kids lol but overall it was a great day.

Leslie Koller

Still a beautiful place to visit but too many city people come here on the weekend. Makes it darn hard to enjoy nature.

Chelsea Murphy

I have always loved pinnacle. Now it's even more fun to bring my kids there! So beautiful and tranquil.

B W

!!!GORGEOUS WILDERNESS RIGHT NEXT DOOR!!! I’m from Colorado, and I love hiking with the family. I’ve brought many friends, and visiting family to Pinnacle while they were visiting. They have different trailer to choose from, and a playground for the kids. There’s also places to wade in the river. All around summer fun!

Justin Gibson

Great little hike with a wonderful view at the top

Lukas Deem

Pinnacle is a great park for people who live in the city to get a taste of nature with just a short drive. The East side is significantly harder than the west side. I enjoy hiking up the east side, down the west side and around back to my car using the base trail. Only downside is that you are close enough to the city to still hear the traffic and will encounter some liter due to the high number of visitors.

Cari Tillery

Beautiful view and kids loved it

Heather Plunkett

Good family fun

Omega Harris

Great view good way to waste time
